Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

  3. My bush camera snapped a shot of a Grey Wolf in the forest not more than a hundred yards from my cabin. It’s always exciting to know this apex predator is around. He was down in the little valley near the stream hunting deer.

    Did you know the two percent inflation rate targeted by Central banks originates in the growth rate of forests? And here I always thought it was because a two percent ponzi scheme goes unnoticed–taking 36-years to half the purchasing power of your fiat currency. Those clever bankers. Maybe the European royal families who still own vast swaths of Canadian forest in their investment portfolios enjoy this delicious irony. “…Ha-ha, Frédéric, ours grows at the rate theirs loses! Let them eat cake!…”

    Suddenly the bankers appear a little less clever, though. The insolvency of numerous Western countries is stepping out from behind the curtain. Or, rather, basic arithmetic is drawing the curtain back on these naked Keynesian socialists with their skinny legs and chattering teeth. Talk of France needing an IMF bailout this week–YES FRANCE–Germany, U.K., Canada, you name it they are all riding on fumes. Yes, the great socialism experiment is dying at an accelerating rate. Did you know there have been well over three-thousand fiat currencies throughout history. None have survived and none will. They are one of those exercises in human insanity, kind of like peanut butter cookies. Gross.

    Of course the argument can be made that the coming financial crisis is all by the design of the Communist Internationale, which may be true. However the simple argument effectively countering this is that we don’t need no stinkin’ commies to ruin our fiat. Historically these things implode on 90-year averages. Many in thirty.

    So what’s going on now? Well, as stock markets blister upwards the rich informed folks are tip toeing out of the room (the market) so as not to wake the baby (you and I). Where are they going? Into precious metals, silly. Better a return OF investment at times like this than speculating for a return ON investment.

    So returns the apex predator to our forest story. He hunts for deer. Deer are the rats of the forest. They breed fast and furiously in the absence of the apex predator.

    • Only 11% 0f Canadian forests are privately owned, with about 450,000 owners. The private forests do provide a disproportionate amount of the wood production in Canada because of their management and accessibility, but the forestry sector does not have high profit margins. Canada provides 16% of the global market. If European royal families are heavily invested in this sector, then they have received poor financial advice.

      • Thanks Steven, but I think the idea of such a passive investment such as land ownership, like gold ownership, is that it tracks inflation over time. It is quiet and boring, and much different than owning an operating forestry company.

    The Iran-backed Houthis on Sunday raided offices of the United Nations’ food and children’s agencies in Yemen’s capital, detaining at least one U.N. employee, officials said, as the rebels tighten security across Sanaa following the Israeli killing of their prime minister and several Cabinet members.
    Abeer Etefa, a spokesperson for the World Food Program, told The Associated Press that security forces raided the agencies’ offices in the Houthi-controlled capital Sunday morning.
    “WFP reiterates that the arbitrary detention of humanitarian staff is unacceptable,” Etefa said.
    Also raided were UNICEF offices, according to a U.N. official and a Houthi official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to brief the media.
    Ammar Ammar, a spokesperson for UNICEF, said there was “an ongoing situation” related to their offices in Sanaa, without providing further details.
