1. Israel offers to solve Iran’s water crisis
2. National Post author reminds us that the FLQ crisis was also a communist revolutionary movement and effort
Actually having read the article, the author really drops the ball before she even moves it past scrimmage.
The FLQ, like the revolutionaries today across Canada are indeed Marxist/Islamic in nature.
I asked GPT to dig up any Marxist literature and connections to the FLQ:
Yes, the Front de libération du Québec (FLQ) exhibited clear Marxist leanings, both in their ideological foundations and their actions.
FLQ’s Marxist Ideology
The FLQ was a radical separatist group active in Quebec from 1963 to 1971. Their ideology combined Marxist-Leninist principles with a desire for Quebec’s independence from Canada. They viewed Quebec as a colonized nation under the control of Anglo-Saxon imperialism and sought to establish a socialist state.en.wikipedia.org+4marxists.org+4en.wikipedia.org+4en.wikipedia.org+2en.wikipedia.org+2
In their 1963 Declaration of Principles, the FLQ declared:
“Since the Second World War, the various dominated peoples of the world have been breaking their chains in order to conquer the freedom to which they are entitled.” marxist.ca
This statement reflects a clear alignment with anti-colonial and Marxist ideologies. They also advocated for armed struggle, viewing themselves as part of a global revolutionary movement.
FLQ’s Connection to Cuba
The FLQ’s admiration for Cuba’s revolutionary government was evident. Members were inspired by Fidel Castro’s 1959 revolution and his commitment to Cuban independence. This admiration led them to seek refuge in Cuba after the 1970 October Crisis.en.wikipedia.orgwinnipegfreepress.comdigitalcommons.kennesaw.edu+9en.wikipedia.org+9en.wikipedia.org+9
In December 1970, after kidnapping British diplomat James Cross, the FLQ demanded safe passage to Cuba or Algeria. The Canadian government, after negotiations, arranged for five FLQ members to be flown to Cuba, where they were received by the Cuban government. canadaehx.com+10winnipegfreepress.com+10en.wikipedia.org+10
(I also asked it why the kidnapper/murderer had requested to be extradited to Cuba)
Why Cuba?
Cuba represented a symbol of successful socialist revolution in the Western Hemisphere. The FLQ members likely viewed Cuba as a safe haven and a model for their own revolutionary aspirations. Their admiration for Cuba’s revolution and the desire to align with its ideals were significant factors in their request for asylum there.
Several of the exiled FLQ members, commies all, actually begged their way back into Canada, some from Cuba and one of the founders from Europe. I guess communism is more fun to fight for than live under.
3. Not much is known about this event yet, but at least we have a name.
Hopefully he gets a fair trial and is sentenced commensurate to his actions and motives, whatever they are determined to be. After all, that is what we are fighting for right? An actual just system of equals? I won’t let the muslims and communists make me start demanding an end to that for my views or desired outcomes.
4. Thank God for this. Now we can defenestrate ANY notion of the reasonableness of the ban on walking in the woods in Eastern Canada. Now it’s more familiar and comfortable. like when you could shop at the liquor stores, marijuana shops and Costco and Wall mart except in some isles like gardening supplies but not go see your. family or a restaurant or a small business etc.
See cause you can’t catch Covid at a liquor store, and only white people cause forest fires with their shoes.
Reading the article, we also learn that it’s a dialectical narrative attack on Europeans. They have taken a Shakespeare Play, and made it about the evils of European Colonialism.
The Indigenized take on Shakespeare’s The Tempest was created in collaboration between Halifax-based Zuppa Theatre and The Sipu Tricksters, a Mi’kmaw collective from Sipekne’katik First Nation. It centres on Caliban’s story and reimagines the characters as Indigenous figures navigating the early days of colonization.
So now we know why it’s allowed to go one, and why white people are allowed into the woods to see it, so long as they only go to the woods to see it and not stray into something else they may actually want to do.
Then there is this- no idea if it’s true or not yet though.
And this:
5. Bruce Pardy is one of my top 5 favourite Canadians. His argument for Alberta separation is pretty lucid.
If Alberta was already a relatively libertarian separate state and under it’s own control and Canada as it is now asked it to join confederation, what would they say?
Thank you all for checking out this site.
Nova Scotia and Uranium exploration = TRUE.
Toward the end of March, the government issued RfPs for mining exploration of various minerals. The citizens rebelled against the uranium proposal; the government attempted to convince them it would be safe, but they weren’t buying it. People were very angry.
All RfPs received submissions, all but the uranium exploration request. And that’s the one the Premier cherished the most.
Disappointed, the Premier said that they have government personnel who can conduct the exploration work. Three sites are involved.
