Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.
This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

I’m half way through this vid interview with the supposed Godfather of AI. I find his tea-baggy accent a bit annoying and he is a leftist, but there is knowledge here.
The question is: how long until AI kills or enslaves us all? Hmm. Sounds like there is a fantastic dialectical operation in there somewhere. Yet, this is a serious question that he discusses, and it is our responsibility to learn on the subject. For me, the question is akin to that age-old curiosity about what would happen if we were visited by aliens from another planet. Well, in an unexpected sense, here they are.
My mind wanders to areas that I cannot imagine AI beating us at: namely humor and atmosphere. Both are exceedingly human talents that I cannot imagine a machine superseding us in. By atmosphere I mean the quintessential components of beauty assembled in a song or some other work of art. Since beauty cannot survive disassembled it is my strong belief that beauty is beyond the creative abilities of the machine.

Independent scientist, Bruce Lanphear, co-chair Simon Fraser University, resigns in June of 2023 from pesticide regulator over transparency concerns. Scientists calling for changes at Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency ( PMRA). “The Agency relies on an obsolete system that could be allowing pesticides with worrisome impacts on nature and human health to remain in use.”
Dr. Lanphear, a Public Health physician who studies fetal and early childhood exposure to environmental toxins at Simon Fraser University, said he became frustrated with how the regulator withheld information from the scientists on the committee “I have little or no confidence that the Scientists Advisory Committee can help PMRA become more transparent or assure Canadians are protected from toxic pesticides.” He said studies show that chronic low-level exposure to harmful chemicals increase the risk to children being born premature and developing leukemia and of autism-related behavior and ADHD. “What is at risk here is increased risk of various chronic conditions. The pesticide industry is exerting undue influence on Canada’s pesticide regulators”.
In 2021 Health Canada proposed to increase the permitted amount of glyphosate that can be detected in food after manufacturers Bayer and Syngenta requested it. The outcry prompted the government to bring in “independent” scientists into the agency.
