Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  2. Windsor-Tecumseh-Lakeshore riding Conservative, Kathy Borelli is the winner.
    Initially Borelli won by 233 votes. The incumbent Liberal was not pleased so Elections Canada validated the result and Borelli still won by 77 votes. The Liberals pushed for a recount and Borelli has now won the riding by 4 votes.

    What absolute horsepucky, what total incompetence, what a terrible attempt to grab another riding. Elections Canada needs to be reviewed. The Returning Officer should not be a political appointment.

Newfoundland— Terra Nova riding Elections Canada officials have said a recent recount resulted in roughly 1,000 disputed ballots all of which had to be debated by lawyers, and Provincial Superior Court Judge, Garrett Handrigan has flipped the final count to the Conservative, Jonathan Rowe by 12 votes.

    A deranged Florida woman viciously attacked an elderly person because he supported President Trump, and then assaulted a man in blue in the latest act of disturbing violence by the radical left. And she is already out of prison despite facing multiple charges.

    FOX 13 Tampa Bay obtained an arrest affidavit on Thursday, which revealed that 33-year-old Laura Elizabeth Garrett was at Northeast Park and Paw Place in Largo on Tuesday when she decided to harass a 72-year-old man for wearing a MAGA hat.

    The document shows that Garrett demanded to know why the man, who has not been identified, supported Trump and asked questions about him.

    This led to an argument between the two individuals, and that’s when Garrett decided to resort to violence.

    The arrest affidavit says that Garrett next smacked the helpless man on the back of the head and shoulder area with a can. Then, like the coward she is, Garrett jumped over a fence and scurried away.

    Garrett admitted to police that she approached the man and demanded why he supported the president. She also confessed to pouring the contents of a can on his head, which qualifies as assault.

    Garrett, though, denied to police that she ever struck the victim.

    But that’s not all. The arrest affidavit also says that Garrett assaulted a police officer while they were trying to handcuff her.

    As FOX 13 notes, Largo police attempted to guide Garrett to the front of the park, where their patrol vehicles were located. But the woman attacked one of the police officers by wrapping both of her legs around an officer, causing him to fall and bruise his knee.

    Garrett then continued to kick and pull away from the police before they finally restrained her.

    FOX 13 reports that Garrett has been hit with the following charges: battery on a person 65 years old or older, battery on a law enforcement officer, and obstructing or resisting an officer without violence.

    Jail records obtained by FOX News show Garrett was booked into the Pinellas County Jail Tuesday evening, but was released Wednesday night. The reason for this is not apparent.

    In the wake of Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential defeat and losing majorities in both houses of Congress, many have wondered who the new face of the left will be.

    Is it California Gov. Gavin Newsom? New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez? Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg?

    In response, I’d say none of the above. In fact, the man I’d say is one of the two faces of the left in 2025 won’t be running for president anytime soon — or doing running anywhere besides the prison yard. His name is Elias Rodriguez.

    Rodriguez isn’t old enough to run for president, either. According to various reports, the Chicago man is 31, per the New York Post. What we do know is that he’s roughly the same age as the two Jewish Israeli embassy staffers he allegedly shot and killed — Yaron Lischinsky, 30, and Sarah Milgrim, 26, a couple — outside of the Capital Jewish Museum, then confessed to the killing, yelling “Free, free Palestine!” as he was taken into custody.

    And now, an emerging picture of Rodriguez shows that he was a member of a radical left-wing, anti-Semitic socialist group and a supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement.

    For instance, he was once allied with the Party for Socialism and Liberation, which routinely spews pro-Hamas, anti-Israeli rhetoric on social media.

    This is what they were posting just hours before the shooting:

    After it happened, of course, they made sure to stop the drumbeat of anti-Semitism for a second to try and spin things.

    “We reject any attempt to associate the PSL with the DC shooting. Elias Rodriguez is not a member of the PSL. He had a brief association with one branch of the PSL that ended in 2017. We know of no contact with him in over 7 years. We have nothing to do with this shooting and do not support it,” the party said in a statement on X.

    This didn’t exactly mollify social media respondents, who noted this was at odds with the party’s rhetoric in the past:

    Plus, his association went a bit deeper than that: In an article from the PSL’s propaganda outlet, Liberation, Rodriguez gave a well-received speech during a Black Lives Matter protest in Chicago in 2017 where he compared the death of a 17-year-old black teen at the hands of police to Amazon gentrifying Seattle.

    “[Amazon’s] whitening of Seattle is structurally racist and a direct danger to all workers who live in that city,” Rodriguez said.

    “So do we in Chicago and all across the country want a nation of cities dominated and occupied by massive corporations where only the rich and white can live and the vast majority of us must live on the edges of the city and society living in deeper and deeper poverty?”

    He also had a position with History Makers, a nonprofit which documents black history, as an oral history researcher.

    His bio has been deleted there, as well, but this is what the website previously read, per the Post: “Prior to joining The HistoryMakers in 2023, he worked as a content writer for commercial and noncommercial firms in the technology space, both national and regionally based.”

    He had left HistoryMakers and was working with the American Osteopathic Information Association, which said it was “shocked and saddened to learn that an AOIA employee has been arrested as a suspect in this horrific crime.”

    Elias Rodriguez, the Chicago far-left activist accused of shooting dead two Israelis outside the Capital Jewish Museum, has a long history of support for BLM, Palestine, communist and anti-white causes.

    Furthermore, he supposedly left behind a 900-word manifesto that described his reasons for committing an anti-Semitic terror act, which police were trying to authenticate. Even as he was waiting to be arrested, he continued to advocate for far-left causes, too.

    A witness told a local TV station that Rodriguez pulled out a red keffiyeh, which is often associated with the Marxist–Leninist group the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Times of London reported.

    How is this not the left in 2025?

    We currently have a president that has survived not one but two attempts on his life on the campaign trail, assassination attempts that the media and the left have tried to pretend didn’t really exist. We have a left that refuses to confront the extremist anti-Semites in its midst — so much so that it’ll defend the radicals at Columbia and Harvard, among other institutions, that engaged in systemic harassment of Jewish students and causes.

    This is a left that not-so-secretly stans upon Luigi Mangione — another alleged murderer with a political agenda. This is a left that gets annoyed that people intuited problematic messaging from a former FBI director who posted a seashell formation saying “86 47” on his Instagram account after the two assassination attempts against Trump that have already happened.

    This is the summer of Floyd, the #Resistance, the casually anti-Semitic embrace of Hamas-loving college radicals, the Black Lives Matter riots, the photo shoot of Kathy Griffin holding up the bloodied effigial head of Donald Trump, then-President Joe Biden saying Hamas supporters “have a point,” this is all of it rolled into one.

    This is Elias Rodriguez — the violent end to your violent delights, progressive America.

    Look not upon the face of AOC or Gov. Newsom, American left. Look at this man’s mug shot. Look at the photos of the two young lives he cut short simply because he knew those young lives were Jewish and killing them advanced his cause. Look at that mug shot deeply. He is you. You have birthed him. You own him. You own this.

    On April 28, 2025, in a Parliamentary election in Trinidad and Tobago, the United National Congress (UNC) party won 26 of 41 seats. This was a resounding defeat for the People’s National Movement (PNM) party, which had been in power for ten years. The PNM lost, in large part, because of their unrealistic assumptions about the nature of violence and firearms.

    The Prime Minister for most of the ten years had been Dr. Keith Rowley. PM Rowley stepped down on March 16. His Successor, PM Stuart Young, called for a snap election on March 18, to be held on April 28. A month before PM Rowley stepped down, he attended the three-day Regular Meeting of the Conference of CARICOM Heads of Government, held on February 19-21, 2025. When the Conference was over, Dr. Rowley explained his party’s approach to violent crime. From blackstarnews.com:

    Addressing the media following the three-day 48th Regular Meeting of the Conference of CARICOM Heads of Government in Barbados, Prime Minister Rowley also revealed that leaders will continue to treat violence as a public health issue, noting the impact on communities and the public health system.

    “So we adopted the working definition of crime and violence as a public health issue since the effect on human conditions is such that violent crime – largely carried out by firearms – 80% of the killings that we are experiencing are done by firearms – and 90% of those firearms are coming to us from one particular source. So we agree that this is a public health issue, and of course, we will continue to engage it as such,” said Dr. Rowley.

    Trinidad and Tobago have been plagued with an enormous increase in violent crime since Hugo Chavez imposed his “Bolivarian” revolution on Venezuela. Trinidad and Tobago are off the coast of Venezuela, with only seven miles separating the two countries.

    As the homicide rate in Trinidad and Tobago soared with the importation of gang violence and extortion, the treatment of violent crime as a disease was completely inappropriate and ineffective. Try to make some sense of PM Dr. Rowley’s statement above. It reminds this correspondent of the “word salad” approach of the Democratic Party’s Presidential candidate in 2024, Kamala Harris.

    PM Dr. Rowley seems to try to explain why the party decided to consider violent crime as a public health issue, but there is no explanation. There is no complete sentence. No causal relationship is offered. The closest to an explanation is an assertion that violent crime is “largely carried out by firearms”, and that “80% of the killings that we are experiencing are done by firearms”. Neither of those assertions makes any sense.
    Firearms cannot commit crimes. Firearms cannot commit killings. Guns are inanimate objects and do not have volition. Firearms cannot make choices.

    P.M. Dr. Rowley also says, “90% of those firearms are coming to us from one particular source.” The presumption is that the source is the United States. Again, there is no causal connection. The United States produces most firearms in the Western Hemisphere. It would be very strange if most firearms used in criminal acts came from another source.
    If the violent crime as a “public health” issue made any sense, then violent crime in the United States, where there are more guns than people, should have a higher rate of homicide than in Trinidad and Tobago, where guns are relatively scarce.
    The homicide rate in Trinidad and Tobago in 2023 was 37.6 per 100k. In the United States, it was 6.61, or about 18% of what Trinidad and Tobago experienced. In 2024, the homicide rate in Trinidad and Tobago increased to 45.7 per 100k. The United States rate for 2024 has yet to be released.

    The winning party in the Trinidad and Tobago election took a different approach to firearms and violent crime. The approach was to believe law-abiding citizens could use firearms to protect themselves from violent criminals. Using some state laws in the United States as successful examples, the candidate, now Prime Minister, Persad-Bissessar, made access to legal firearms, a “stand your ground” law, and reform of home defense laws a core part of her campaign.

    The campaign was successful. The new Prime Minister and her cabinet are currently working on the reforms. Her understanding of reality is far different than the previous Prime Minister and the People’s National Movement party.
    In the next few years, results should indicate which of the two views of reality is closer to the truth.
