One of the joys of Trump driving the news cycle is the sheer breadth of topics that erupt unexpectedly. It being the annual Silly Season, the topic of buying Greenland is a natural fit for the moment, although I’m guessing that most of us didn’t see it coming…
There’s more than one reason for this. Liberty Unyielding has cast a glance at Greenland a time or two, most recently in September 2018. The shift from Lloyd Austin to Pete Hegseth as Defense Secretary has proven to be one of the biggest upgrades in American history and a statement issued by Hegseth today drove that point home even further.
As TGP readers know, the Trump Administration has tasked Elon Musk and DOGE to downsize the federal government.
So far, DOGE has saved taxpayers $105 billion.
Many of the programs slashed include DEI and “climate change” programs. These have been rampant within the Department of Defense for decades, contributing to its inability to pass an audit.
On Sunday, far-left CNN published an article using unnamed sources to push a narrative that the Pentagon eliminating climate programs will damage national security.
“I think they’re stuck on the word ‘climate’ and not seeing the operational impacts,” one unnamed official told CNN. He also claimed that the cuts will pose “readiness issues all around.”
“Inaction (on ‘climate change’) at this point will put our readiness and the lives of our troops and their families at greater risk,” whined Dr. Ravi Chaudhary, former assistant secretary of the Air Force for energy, installations and environment.
Pentagon press secretary John Ullyot rightfully disputed this garbage, telling CNNthat the DOD is “is working closely with DOGE to identify efficiencies and savings across the department on behalf of taxpayers while we restore the warrior ethos and refocus our military on its core mission of deterring, fighting and winning wars.”
“Climate zealotry and other woke chimeras of the Left are not part of that core mission,” Ullyot added.
Upon seeing Ullyot’s response, Hegseth decided to give his own thoughts with a savage statement that will thrill conservatives across America.

In what is becoming an alarming pattern, U.S. Air Force F-16s once again had to intercept a civilian aircraft for violating restricted airspace near President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence this weekend.
This marks the second incursion in just two days.
The first incident occurred at approximately 8:50 a.m. on Saturday when a general aviation aircraft entered the restricted airspace. NORAD F-16s responded promptly, escorting the aircraft out of the area without further incident.
“NORAD and the FAA work closely together to keep the skies over America safe, with close attention paid to areas with Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR),’’ said Gen. Gregory Guillot, Commander, NORAD and US Northern Command.
“Adherence to TFR procedures is essential to ensure flight safety, national security, and the security of the President. The procedures are not optional, and the excessive number of recent TFR violations indicates many civil aviators are not reading Notice to Airmen, or NOTAMs, before each flight as required by the FAA, and has resulted in multiple responses by NORAD fighter aircraft to guide offending aircraft out of the TFR. Should the pilot of an aircraft happen to find itself intercepted by one of fighters or helicopters, they should immediately come up on frequency 121.5 or 243.0 and turn around to reverse course until receiving additional instructions on one of those frequencies.”
The second violation took place around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, involving another civilian aircraft breaching the TFR.
According to a press release from NORAD, F-16s from the Continental U.S. NORAD Region (CONR) were deployed to intercept and escort the rogue aircraft out of the area.
During the interception, the F-16s deployed flares, to capture the pilot’s attention before safely guiding the aircraft out of the restricted zone.

Since President Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2025, there have been over 20 such airspace violations in the Palm Beach area. General Gregory Guillot, Commander of NORAD and U.S. Northern Command.
Last week, the Secret Service was investigating after multiple aircraft violated airspace over Palm Beach on the weekend.
Newsmax host Todd Starnes reported that three aircraft were escorted out of the area by F-16 fighter jets at 11:05 a.m., 12:10 p.m., and 12:50 p.m. on Saturday.
During two of the intercepts, the fighter jets had to deploy flares, and all three planes were safely escorted out of the restricted airspace.
Last month, The Palm Beach Post reported that three airspace violations occurred in February while President Trump was staying at Mar-a-Lago.
“A spokesperson for the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD, confirmed Wednesday that there were three airspace violations of the imposed presidential protected space during Trump’s six-day visit to Mar-a-Lago, his mansion in Palm Beach. Two occurred on Feb. 15 and one on Presidents Day, Feb. 17,” the Palm Beach Post reported last month.

The site, known as Rancho Izaguirre and allegedly operated by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), contained three clandestine ovens, charred human remains, and hundreds of personal belongings, including approximately 400 pairs of shoes, clothing, backpacks, and a farewell letter.
Authorities estimate that at least 200 people may have been victims in this gruesome setting, a stark reflection of the rampant violence plaguing the country.
The discovery took place on March 5, following an anonymous call alerting the collective to the presence of human remains at the ranch, located in the town of La Estanzuela.
Accompanied by members of the National Guard, the searchers found a warehouse filled with scattered personal belongings. After hours of searching, they uncovered underground ovens and a brick slab designed to make detecting the crimes more difficult. Among the most heartbreaking findings was a letter signed by Eduardo Lerma Nito, a 20-year-old who had been missing since February 2024 in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco—giving faces and names to the victims of this tragedy.

Rancho Izaguirre was not unknown to authorities. In September 2024, the National Guard had already intervened at the site, arresting 10 people and rescuing two kidnapping victims after a confrontation. However, the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office admitted it had not fully inspected the nearly 10,000-square-meter property, overlooking the crematoriums and mass graves that have now come to light. This omission has sparked fierce criticism from search collectives and civil society, questioning the effectiveness and willingness of the Mexican government to confront organized crime.

“CJNG operates with alarming impunity, and this extermination camp is proof that the Morena government, led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and now by Claudia Sheinbaum, has failed to protect its people,” said Virginia Ponce, coordinator of the Madres Buscadoras de Jalisco collective, in a recent interview. Ponce described the unbearable stench of death at the site and emphasized that authorities had the chance to act earlier but failed to do so.

Europe Increases Defense Spending — But Still Are Decades Behind the U.S. and Unprepared for War with Russia

In the wake of Europe and Ukraine expressing outrage over President Trump rescinding military support for Ukraine, European nations are finally taking steps to prepare their continent for its own defense—something the U.S. has shouldered for the past 80 years.
The proposed increases in defense spending at both the EU and national levels still fall far short of U.S. defense expenditures. And even if Europe were to match U.S. spending, it would never achieve military parity with the United States.
Ironically, while these increases are being made in defiance of the U.S., they align perfectly with what Trump has been demanding since his first term: that Europe boost its defense spending and ease the burden on America.
Another irony is that while European leaders are furious over U.S. military aid cuts to Ukraine, they themselves remain divided on direct military support.
Although EU leaders unanimously backed strengthening Europe’s defense capabilities, there was no consensus on aiding Ukraine, with Hungary outright opposing it.
Brussels estimates that its rearmament strategy could mobilize up to $850 billion by loosening EU deficit and debt rules and introducing a new $160 billion joint debt-financed credit instrument.
The plan also includes redirecting existing European regional funds and leveraging the European Investment Bank for defense financing. Some nations, including Spain and France, have pushed for a portion of these funds to be grants rather than loans.
This highlights another fundamental issue in Europe: some countries are relatively poor, and the socialist nature of their governments has accustomed them to expecting handouts rather than earning and spending on their own.
This raises a critical question—will countries like France and Spain fully commit to the plan if they are told they must repay the loans?
Key investment priorities include air and missile defense, artillery systems, drones, space technology, military mobility, cybersecurity, and electronic warfare, all functions which the U.S. is currently providing to Europe.
Proponents of rapid defense spending increases—such as Sweden, Finland, and Eastern European states—argue that Europe must urgently rearm, with some leaders calling for defense spending to exceed NATO’s 2% GDP target, potentially reaching 3%.
However, even at that level, Europe would still fall behind the U.S., whose defense spending exceeds 3% of GDP and is backed by an economy far larger than any European nation.
Even with its planned increases, Europe’s defense spending will still fall far short of that of the U.S., which has outspent Europe by a wide margin for the past 80 years. For Europe to catch up, it would need to significantly outspend the U.S., an unlikely scenario.
More concerning is that Europe appears determined to escalate tensions with Russia—a disastrous prospect given that Russia’s military is not only larger and more capable than the combined forces of Europe, but also possesses extensive wartime experience that Europe lacks.
Unlike Europe, Russia is already fully mobilized: its troops are conscripted, in uniform, and continuously replenished; its factories have been retooled to produce weapons and munitions; and its economy is insulated against sanctions.
Meanwhile, Europe remains unprepared for such a confrontation—not only in terms of military readiness but also in its continued dependence on Russian energy. Any notion of Europe engaging in a war with Russia would be a fool’s errand.
Furthermore, under NATO’s charter, the U.S. is not obligated to defend a member state that unilaterally instigates a war. Europe, as a whole, is not synonymous with NATO—just as Zelensky discovered, the U.S. has no obligation to defend non-NATO members that come under attack.
Any discussion of Europe increasing its defense spending or military preparedness ignores a critical reality: Europe is not a single country, nor does it have a unified army or command structure.

The continent’s nations are at vastly different levels of economic development and military preparedness, making coordinated action difficult. They are not poised to consolidate their forces under a single command or follow a coherent strategy.
Additionally, because each country maintains its own military, there are redundancies across various functions, further diluting the effectiveness of their defense budgets.
A clear example of how the media is misinterpreting Europe’s so-called military catch-up is Germany’s latest spending plans. Some reports falsely suggest that Germany is increasing military spending by $540 billion, but the reality is quite different.
The German government plans to bypass its constitutional debt brake to undertake significant new borrowing, allocating approximately $540 billion for infrastructure over the next decade.
This plan includes about $108 billion designated for the federal states, none of which is related to defense spending.
German authorities estimate that an additional $432 billion will be needed to modernize the military. However, Germany’s defense spending increase falls far short of this figure.
The $540 billion total spending plan is primarily for infrastructure, with at least $108 billion allocated to federal states, leaving the remainder for various non-defense projects.
The notion that Europe is meaningfully militarizing to catch up with the U.S. or prepare for war with Russia is not grounded in reality. While some countries have pledged defense increases, these are spread out over years and hampered by bureaucratic delays, economic constraints, and a lack of key military capabilities.
Much of the reported spending includes non-military projects like infrastructure and cybersecurity, further diluting its impact. Unlike the U.S., which provides strategic airlift, intelligence, and nuclear deterrence, European forces remain heavily dependent on American support.
Additionally, public opinion in many European nations remains skeptical of large-scale militarization, further limiting these efforts.
Ultimately, despite the rhetoric, Europe is not on a path to military self-sufficiency, nor is it preparing for a direct confrontation with Russia in any meaningful way.

The Durupinar formation has long captivated researchers and explorers due to its ship-like shape and dimensions that mirror the biblical description of Noah’s Ark. According to the Bible, the Ark’s dimensions were “a length of three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.” The structure’s measurements, approximately 150 meters in length, align with this account.

Dozens of people have been rescued after an oil tanker carrying aviation jet fuel and a container ship collided in the North Sea off the East Yorkshire coast, resulting in multiple explosions and a “massive fireball”.
Lifeboats and a coastguard helicopter were called to the collision just before 10am near the entrance to the Humber Estuary. The vessels involved were a US-flagged tanker called the MV Stena Immaculate and a Portuguese container ship called the MV Solong.
Thirty-seven people across both vessels are accounted for with one in hospital, local MP Graham Stuart said.
Martyn Boyers, chief executive of the Port of Grimsby East, said he had been told there was “a massive fireball” after the crash.
Maritime firm Crowley, which manages the tanker involved in the collision, said it was struck by the Solong, which led to jet fuel spilling into the sea. HM Coastguard has said it is assessing the “likely counter pollution response required”.

DRUZHKIVKA, Ukraine—On the eastern front here, Russia is saddling up a mainstay of battlefields from earlier centuries to counter Ukraine’s drone army: horses and donkeys.
The hoofed mammals carry supplies and soldiers to avoid the attention of drones, which can easily spot and strike armored and other vehicles moving near the front lines.

While horses and donkeys are far from a centerpiece of Russian operations, Moscow’s dalliance is indicative of the ways in which a high-tech war is requiring creative uses of old-school combat methods, from trenches to motorbikes.
The technological advances that have made drones highly effective weapons have forced each side to rush to adapt. Some solutions have involved working on advanced equipment such as lasers or electronic jammers aimed at downing the craft. Others have been more rough and ready, from shotguns to blast them out of the sky to crude mesh shields welded onto vehicles.
Ukrainian Army Sgt. Ihor Vizirenko, who has fought against drones, armored vehicles and tanks in one of this war’s most brutal spots, first saw Russians on horses in drone footage.
“The Russians are quite creative,” Vizirenko remembers thinking when he first saw the animals.
“Now the war is drones and artillery,” he said. “As soon as their vehicles get near the front line, Ukrainians are destroying them.”
In a similar return to basics, Vizirenko’s unit employs trolleys to move wood, supplies and even the injured for miles to and from the front line. They use the manual dollies, similar to those used in warehouses and offices for small cargo, to help keep vehicles out of range of Russian drones.

Police fined a British couple £1,500 after having discovered an illegal migrant had hidden on their vehicle to enter the UK from France clandestinely.
While successive UK governments have outright failed to solve the illegal migrant crisis in the English Channel, with people smuggling networks continuing to operate on the beaches of Calais in partnership with black market networks in Britain, the police have seen fit to fine a British couple who were apparently taken advantage of by an illegal.
Adrian (55) and Joanne Fenton (57) of Heybridge in Essex were astonished to receive word from the Home Office that they would be fined £1,500 for an illegal alien stowaway who had clung to the bike rack on the back of their motorhome as they returned home from France last October.
The couple claimed that they had notified police after discovering the 16-year-old alien from Sudan clinging to their vehicle’s bike rack.
However, they were accused by the Home Office of having failed to “check that no clandestine entrant was concealed in the vehicle,” the BBC reported.
The email from the government went on to claim that the illegal migrant was discovered by an officer, despite the couple saying they had notified the police of his presence.

The German progressives, who have already been famously scolded by President Trump for their short-sighted and suicidal reliance on Russian energy—which led to a historical energy crisis—are reminding us how slow on the uptake they really are as news emerges that their dependence on hostile foreign nations for crucial infrastructure needs is once again biting them in the rear.

The U.S. House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance, under the leadership of Chairman Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), held a committee hearing focused on the right of law-abiding Americans to protect themselves.
It’s a critical moment for Second Amendment rights as President Donald Trump campaigned on restoring community safety and vowing to protect the Constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans. That priority resonated with voters, including more than 26.2 million law-abiding Americans persuaded by crime and threats of violence in their communities to purchase a firearm for the first time over the past five years.
This priority also aligns with the House Republicans as they are committed to standing up for those Second Amendment rights and ensuring American communities are safe from criminal violence after historic surges in crime during the Biden-Harris administration.
‘No One Wants This to Happen’
Subcommittee Chairman Biggs set the table succinctly during his opening remarks about why the hearing was so critical.
“At a time when violent crime continues to plague our communities and rogue prosecutors allow criminals back out on the streets, it is important to preserve our right to defend ourselves and our loved ones,” Chairman Biggs stated. “It’s disgraceful to think that someone defending their family from a deadly attack would be punished.”
House Democrats on the committee, including Ranking Member Lucy McBath (D-Ga.), Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) and Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.), repeatedly stated the need for strict gun control was rooted in the belief that more laws mean less crime. One hearing witness, however, had firsthand experience about why that is the wrong belief paradigm.

David McDermott, a self-defense attorney in Chicago explained why self-defense is so important to him.
“At the age of seventeen, I was walking with my now-wife Dana and some friends when a large group of gang members ran over to us,” McDermott described. “I was sure we were going to be attacked and before I knew it, I was hit in the head with a blunt object. I immediately went down to my knees as I was beaten repeatedly with a lead pipe and baseball bat. Dana and my sister were held at gun point as these gang members continued to beat me bloody.”
McDermott continued, “Nobody wakes up and says, ‘I hope today is the day that I get attacked. With so much violence on the news each day, it is no surprise that more and more people have decided to purchase firearms.”
McDermott relayed that Chicago already has some of strictest gun control laws in the country, yet continues to be plagued by violent criminals who don’t follow the laws. In fact, the city once implemented a blanket ban on handguns in 1982. Only criminals ended up with guns and even The Chicago Tribune editorial board excoriated the policy.
“In the decade after it outlawed handguns, murders jumped by 41 percent, compared with an 18 percent rise in the entire United States,” wrote the Tribune’s editorial board. “One problem is that the bans didn’t actually have any discernible effect on the availability of guns to people with felonious intent.”
‘Fish in a Barrel’
Dianna Muller is a Second Amendment advocate who previously spent 22 years in law enforcement in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is a renowned competitive shooter. She is especially vocal about women exercising their rights to keep and bear arms and noted that point once again.
“Women are the fast-growing group of gun owners in our nation. And for good reason,” Muller said. “We are smaller and less equipped to face down violence. Firearms level the playing field in an attack from a larger and stronger assailant. Women are choosing to own and carry firearms to protect a life – not to take a life.”
One policy promoted by Democrats from major metropolitan areas and public places is the prevalence of “gun-free zones.” Supporters of Second Amendment rights generally describe “gun-free zones” as ineffective as, again, criminals ignore the signs and subsequently believe innocent civilians will be unarmed. Congressman Tom Tiffany (R-Wisc.) questioned Muller about the efficacy of “gun-free zones” and whether they work.
“No sir, they do not,” Muller said bluntly. “They are actually the opposite of what they are intended to do. When you see a gun-free zone, ninety-four percent of mass public shootings happen in gun-free zones. They are killers and allow… criminals to shoot fish in a barrel. They are killers.”
Front Line Defense
Rep. Barry Moore (R-Ala.) referenced a significant priority among the firearm industry when he asked Muller about the Biden-Harris administration’s “zero-tolerance” policy and how the consequences of it have impacted the ability of law-abiding Americans to exercise their Second Amendment rights. NSSF has been working with the new Trump administration and Attorney General Pam Bondi during the past few weeks on reversing the overreaches of the Biden administration and repealing the flawed and disastrous policies. The is especially true of the Biden administration’s “zero-tolerance” policy by with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) cause the revocation and surrender of hundreds of small-business federal firearms licensees (FFLs).
“What I understand and hear from numerous people who are FFLs is that the Biden administration, the way they… the process, it wasn’t a partnership anymore. It was more of an adversarial relationship between ATF and FFLs and therefore I think it was mistake and not really going after the right target,” Muller stated.
“You’re right,” Rep. Moore answered. “They’re [FFLs] really our front lines of defense so I would think working with the ATF would be beneficial, but often it looked like it was adversarial and many FFLs were targeted, in many ways. It has been counterproductive.”
Privileged Perspective
Muller encapsulated the position from where gun control proponents are coming which is common from activists like billionaire and former New York City Mayor Micheal Bloomberg.
“I believe that the people that advocate for gun control are… doing it from a place of privilege. If you don’t think you need the Second Amendment or if you don’t think you need to carry a firearm or have self-defense, then you are coming from a place of privilege and you’re not coming from a community that is plagued with violence,” Muller explained. “You’re not living in a community that needs to have that kind of security. I would check your privilege and say that the Second Amendment is what gives everyone the right to be safe.”

Panic Politics: Law Professors’ Umpteenth ‘Constitutional Crisis’ Falls Flat
Below is my column in the Hill on yet another letter from law professors declaring a “constitutional crisis” over the Trump policies. Despite the claims that this is a rogue president ignoring the rule of law, the Administration continues to prevail in some of these cases, including another ruling in favor of the Department of Government Efficiency late on Friday. As stated in the column, it has also lost some cases as did the prior Administration. The point is that, rather than witnessing the collapse of the constitutional system, these cases show that it is continuing to function as designed in sorting out these disputes.

It’s only March, and we have yet another declaration of a “constitutional crisis.”
The latest dire declaration comes from roughly 950 law professors, who refer generally to actions and policies implemented by President Trump as “beyond his constitutional or statutory authority.”
So — what happens if the “experts” hold a crisis and no one shows up?
After years of such claims, the perpetual crisis has left a dwindling number of people inclined to panic. Many simply have more pressing matters at the moment and have the same reaction of former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger: “There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is already full.”
The latest letter follows a familiar pattern that has played out like a political perpetual motion machine since the first Trump impeachment. It works something like this: A legal academy composed of largely liberal academics announces a “constitutional crisis” caused by conservatives, and then a largely liberal media runs the story with little scrutiny or skepticism. On most echo-chambered media sites, the public rarely hears an opposing view.
The purging of conservative and libertarian faculty from most universities has been a long-standing problem. In self-identified surveys, professors confirm that some departments lack a single Republican. A study by Georgetown University’s Kevin Tobia and MIT’s Eric Martinez found that only 9 percent of law school professors in the top 50 law schools identify as conservative.
Law schools are not unique. A survey conducted by the Harvard Crimson shows that more than three-quarters of Harvard Arts and Sciences and School of Engineering and Applied Sciences faculty respondents identified as “liberal” or “very liberal.” Only 2.5 percent identified as “conservative,” and only 0.4 percent as “very conservative.” A 2017 study found that only 15 percent of faculty members were conservative. Another analysis found that 33 out of 65 departments lacked even a single conservative faculty member.
In other words, it is embarrassingly easy to get 1,000 law professors to sign off on letters claiming endless constitutional crises caused by Trump or conservatives.
Those letters are then fed to eagerly awaiting media outlets. The perpetual machine then whirls and spins as liberal professors feed liberal reporters, who then feed liberals in Congress, who cite the unchallenged consensus of academia and the media.
The New York Times rushed the news to its viewers that “Trump’s Actions Have Created a Constitutional Crisis, Scholars Say.” The Times interviewed Berkeley Dean Erwin Chemerinsky, who previously called the conservative justices “political hacks” and just published a book titled “No Democracy Lasts Forever: How the Constitution Threatens the United States.”
Chemerinsky breathlessly explained “We never have seen anything like this.”
The problem is that we have. Presidents often negate the prior executive orders of their predecessors, fire their appointees and implement sweeping new changes. Those actions are frequently challenged and some are found to be procedurally or substantially unlawful. Others are upheld.
President Biden was repeatedly found to have violated the constitution without most of these signatories expressing a peep of concern over the mounting “crisis.”
Indeed, some pushed for unconstitutional actions against the overwhelming views of legal experts. Take Harvard Professor Laurence Tribe, who also signed this letter to express alarm at Trump pushing the Constitution to the breaking point. Tribe has attacked conservatives in profane diatribes and supported packing the Supreme Court to engineer a liberal majority.
When Biden wanted to circumvent Congress and implement billions in student loan forgiveness payments before the election, Tribe was there. Even former Speaker Nancy Pelosi admitted that Biden could not constitutionally wipe out hundreds of millions of dollars of student loans without congressional action. However, Tribe assured President Biden that it was entirely legal.
It was found unconstitutional by the Supreme Court and lower courts.
When Biden wanted to impose a national eviction moratorium, he admitted that his own lawyers told him that it would be flagrantly unconstitutional. Pelosi then told him to call Tribe, who assured Biden he had the authority to act alone.
This was also quickly found to be unconstitutional.
Biden was also found to have engaged in racial discrimination and other flagrant constitutional violations.
Of course, none of that is a crisis, and none of these signatories ran to blast fax a letter to the legal academy.
Other signatories, such as Professor Heidi Li Feldman, have declared that conservative justices and lawyers are “lawless” due to their opposing constitutional views. She has called upon law professors not to fall “into complicity with lawlessness.” In other words, conservative jurisprudence, followed by roughly half of the bench, is simply unacceptable and should not be recognized.
If you view conservatives judges and justices as “lawless,” then every decision that they issue can be construed as a “crisis” in failing to adopt your own interpretive approach.
There are good-faith reasons to challenge some of Trump’s actions, as there were under Biden. I have criticized some of those measures. However, Trump has repeatedly pledged to follow adverse court orders while he seeks appeals. That is precisely what he did in his first term, where he complied with opposing rulings, including some issued by his own appointees.
Trump is also prevailing in some of these cases and will likely prevail in many others. Democratic groups have forum-shopped around the country to bring challenges before favorable judges. Some have issued injunctions, while others have not. Others have already been reversed.
For example, the media made great fanfare over restraining orders issued to limit the actions of Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency. Less coverage was given to later opinions reducing those orders or setting them aside, including a recent order refusing to bar Trump from firing many government employees at USAID.
Likewise, the media and many professors lionized Special Counsel Hampton Dellinger for suing to stop Trump’s firing. When Judge Amy Berman Jackson in Washington issued her opinion, some of us expressed skepticism over her cited legal authority. Within four days, the D.C. Circuit had reversed her, ruling for Trump. Dellinger then dropped his own case rather than multiply adverse rulings.
None of this means that Trump will prevail in most such lawsuits or that these are not good-faith challenges. However, the record does not suggest a constitutional crisis. It suggests the opposite — a constitutional system that continues to function efficiently and fairly.
The real “crisis” seems to be that Trump is winning in some of these cases. To make matters worse, he is complying with adverse rulings. After an election where many of these same voices declared the imminent death of democracy if Trump were elected, the constitutional system seems to be, inconveniently and stubbornly, very much alive and well.
Of course, opposing these actions on policy or conventional legal grounds would generate little press. It has to be a “crisis” to get headlines and segments on cable news. Stanford law Professor Pamela Karlan and co-signatory described Trump as different, a president “for whom the Constitution [is] essentially meaningless.”
Karlan, who previously testified in favor of impeaching Trump in his first term, ignores the fact that our system does not depend on how Trump feels about the Constitution, even if she did have an insight into his inner self. We have the oldest and most successful constitutional system because it does not rely on the good motivations or values of those in government. It has survived centuries with often hostile presidents due to its checks and balances.
In the end, the seeming unanimity is not reflective of the merits but the membership of the legal academy. From calls to pack the court to curtailing free speech to trashing the Constitution, law professors are like priests who have kept their frocks while losing their faith. And their crisis of faith is the only crisis these professors are facing.

According to Putin, the media has fed into this narrative by making constant alarmist predictions about Russia using tactical nuclear weapons, which he believes is a tactic to manipulate Western nations and force them to become further involved in the conflict.
Putin made it clear that the goal of these actions is to weaken Russia as much as possible, adding that this strategy not only endangers global stability but is also escalating tensions between Russia and the West. At the same time, Putin urged world leaders to approach global issues more rationally, without succumbing to alarmism and media manipulation.

Last month President Trump told New York Post reporter Miranda Devine that Alvin Bragg and Letitia James are barred from entering federal buildings.
This means they would not be able to enter the US Attorney’s Office, federal courthouses, the New York FBI Field Office, federal correctional facilities and prisons.
“This is to take away every right they have [revoking security clearances] including they can’t go into [federal] buildings,” Trump told Miranda Devine.

U.S. District Judge Jesse M. Furman, an Obama appointee, has slammed the brakes on the Trump administration’s efforts to deport Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University student whose green card was revoked following his detention by ICE.
This radical foreign national, labeled by the White House as a “Pro-Hamas Student,” was set to be removed from the United States—until Furman’s activist ruling threw a wrench into the gears of justice.
On Saturday, President Trump’s ICE agents arrested activist Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian-born activist who has led anti-Israel protests at Columbia and Barnard College.
“We will be revoking the visas and/or green cards of Hamas supporters in America so they can be deported,” Rubio said on the social platform X.
“On March 9, 2025, in support of President Trump’s executive orders prohibiting anti-Semitism, and in coordination with the Department of State, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Mahmoud Khalil, a former Columbia University graduate student,” McLaughlin wrote in a statement to Columbia Spectator.
“Khalil led activities aligned to Hamas, a designated terrorist organization… ICE and the Department of State are committed to enforcing President Trump’s executive orders and to protecting U.S. national security,” she added.
Despite the clear legal basis for his detention, Khalil’s allies in the liberal legal community wasted no time filing a habeas corpus petition, claiming his arrest was retaliation for his “constitutionally protected speech.”
His attorneys argue that moving him to a Louisiana detention facility was an “attempt to disrupt the legal process.”
Khalil’s lawyer, Amy Greer, wrote support for Khalil’s motion to compel U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to return him to New York after he was transferred to a detention facility in Louisiana despite having a pending habeas corpus petition challenging the legality of his detention.
According to a legal filing in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Khalil—who is married to a U.S. citizen and expecting his first child next month—was snatched from his student housing on March 8, 2025.
Hours after Khalil’s lawyers filed a habeas corpus petition, ICE transferred him to Louisiana, 1,000 miles away, allegedly without notifying his attorneys.
His lawyers argue this was retaliatory and meant to disrupt the court’s jurisdiction over his habeas case.
On Monday, Furman issued an order in the Southern District of New York, declaring that Khalil “shall not be removed from the United States unless and until the Court orders otherwise.”
The judge’s decision invokes the All Writs Act. The All Writs Act states that “The Supreme Court and all courts established by Act of Congress may issue all writs necessary or appropriate in aid of their respective jurisdictions.” This means that federal courts have the authority to issue any writ that they deem necessary or appropriate to support their jurisdiction and carry out their duties.
This is nothing short of a shameless power grab, cloaked in legal jargon, to shield a dangerous individual from the consequences of his actions. The Trump administration had acted decisively to protect American citizens, but Furman’s intervention reeks of the same old liberal elitism that prioritizes foreign radicals over national security.
