Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. I will begin at the end, when I waved good-bye. Don’t worry, everything is fine.

    I was invited to an Ottawa Senators hockey game by a very old friend. We went to high school together. We had lost touch for years, and when he appeared at my father’s funeral we vowed to not let things slip again. I also had not been to a hockey game in forever, and afternoon games suit me best, so how could I refuse. I parked at a nearby mall where my buddy picked me up, and from there we drove to the stadium.

    We arrived a few minutes late so I don’t know if the crowd booed the American anthem, but I highly doubt it. There was no such vibe. We were playing the Rangers. It was a fantastic game. Ottawa came from behind to win in overtime. Brady Tkachuk scored the winning goal. He’s the American star and captain of the Senators. His mother is Canadian. He vows never to play for team Canada in any international contest. No matter. The Ottawa crowd erupted when he won the game. His teammates swarmed him.

    Even before we got inside I noticed quite a few of the orange New York State license plates in the parking lot. This made sense. Upstate New York is only an hour drive. Fans from Watertown can make an easy day of it. And with the dollar exchange rate it’s a downright cheap treat for them.

    I hand it to the people who run the Senators. They know their business. At every pause in play they pump up the music. It’s really loud. The house was packed. They use all kinds of gimmicks to keep the energy up and the time ticking. They make a contest out of the seating section that can make the most noise. Sound meters are shown on the big screen above the ice. The kids love it. At another break during a TV commercial the announcer shouts, “IS ANYBODY HUNGRY?” Then all these little white parachutes start dropping from the catwalk high above in the rafters. Hotdogs wrapped in foil float gently down to the crowd.

    Kids. They’re the best part. Young nuclear families with young parents are everywhere. The big screen shows the crowd to itself, and the “Oh gosh” factor kicks in every time the camera puts mom or dad and the kids up on the big screen. “There we are!”

    At first intermission we went and got foot-long hotdogs. They were really good with all kinds of messy toppings. Later, I would tell my oldest boy that this was the place to see pretty girls. They flocked here. Also later, long after the game was over, I realized I could not recall seeing a non-white face. Relax, I’m not making any judgement call here, just observing. I know there had to be blacks and Asians among the twenty-thousand or so fans, but I just don’t remember seeing them.

    Also, I recall seeing only one policeman during the whole experience. That was at the second intermission. He was a burly, young capable-looking man with a red beard and forearm tattoos. He looked like he could be playing for the Senators or the Rangers. One cop, and he looked a little bit bored. I bet he wished he could watch the game.

    I bought two beers for us and went to pay with a hundred-dollar bill. No cash payment was allowed. We chatted as we stood off to the side, in an eddy out of the flow of people. I said I liked his Honda Civic. It’s a hybrid, he said. But he’ll never buy a Tesla, he added. “I don’t want to give money to that fuckin’ asshole’s company.”

    After the game my friend dropped me back where I was parked. It was a big box store place. I decided to check out Cabella’s before heading home. Cabella’s is an American hunting and fishing store. I saw more orange plates in this lot, of course. Hey, they get to see a great hockey game and then go shopping at a great store before heading home. And everything is on sale!

    I wandered through, just looking. There were nice clothes and fishing rods and crossbows and guns. There were hunting knives and ammo boxes and even dehumidifiers so your guns don’t rust inside the safe. I stopped at the rack of game cameras. I bought one here before that sends me photos from my place in the bush up in Quebec. There was another man standing there looking at them. “I bought this one,” I said to him, pointing at it. He looked like a farmer from around here. He wore a ball cap and a working man’s plaid-ish coat. I thought maybe he would appreciate input from someone who had tried one of these cameras. They’re not so cheap. “I pay thirteen bucks a month for the service. –Or seventeen with the exchange rate. It’s an American company.”
    “I just want something so I can see my hunt camp,” he replied. “No matter what I do people find a way to trespass.”
    “Well, this one worked for me,” I said as I pointed again. “Good luck.”

    Later, as I prepared to drive home, I saw the same man climbing into his pick-up truck. It had orange plates. Hmm, I thought, the internet really is erasing regional accents. I used to be able to detect that upstate New York accent more easily. Now, an Ottawa Valley accent is more distinguishable than the accent of a man from a whole other country.

    When my friend who brought me to the hockey game had dropped me off, I waved good-bye. We had been separated by about twenty years of living. He was now semi-retired from government. Work and family life had simply intruded on our friendship. The usual stuff.

    I have become used to gaps like this creating, or reconstructing people differently from how I remembered them to be. Twenty years is a long time, but Covid tore the fabric of things radically in no time, and that event is still raw. Moreso for some of us, I posit, than for those who consumed its offerings.

    This is the second or third old friend to recently re-emerge. Instinctively I wear a different skin, because I’m not sure what to expect from them. Everything and everyone is politicized. Reconnecting, for me, requires that I take a chill pill. Otherwise there is little point in the exercise. I listen closely to the little cues so I understand where I am sitting, and with whom. This must be the minority reflex. Much is easily gleaned by listening.

    So I went to a hockey game and homogeneity broke out. Twenty-thousand people got together peacefully and enjoyed hot dogs and hockey. Bread and circuses. But it is a weird kind of homogeneity because even though it sees itself on the big screen, it has a hard time recognizing its own face. This may be because outside the stadium it is being told so much that just isn’t true. Outside that stadium this audience is convinced by very loud voices that it is things it is not. Inside that stadium everyone stood up during a pause in the second period to honor a 95-year old WW2 veteran on the big screen. Clearly, this homogenous audience is quite satisfied in its own skin, when left alone to be who it is. Perhaps this is precisely what the loud voices outside want to destroy.

    When I waved good-bye I wasn’t just waving to my friend. I was also waving good-bye to the skin I wore for the event. It tore off through the parking lot in the cold wind looking floppy and weird and absolutely ridiculous. It darted between the parked cars like a loose fast drunk and disappeared.

    Imagine, a skin running away from its own body as if it just couldn’t take it anymore.

      US President Donald J. Trump has disrupted the old geopolitical arrangements, favoring peace and prosperity over the ‘forever wars’ of the Globalist warmongers.

      Now, Europe is eyeing a future in which the continent has to pay for its own Defense – and they are panicking.

      Because Europe is vulnerable, and everyone knows it.

      Bloomberg reported:

      “Lacking troops, air defenses and ammunition, the continent’s front-line defenses are only equipped to repel an invasion from Russia for weeks at best without the US, according to defense officials, who asked not to be identified discussing sensitive information. Even if a complete American withdrawal is seen as extremely remote, a reduced US presence would also have an impact.”
      EU leaders mourn the dead in a Ukrainian cemetery – rearmament will be much more difficult than first thought.

      Europe depends on the US for communications, intelligence, and logistics, not to mention raw firepower.

      The continent foolishly disarmed after the Cold War while electing a generation of leaders constantly fanning the flames of a confrontation with Russia, escalating the situation nonstop.

      As the US opts for peace, the Globalists have responded with a show of solidarity to Ukraine’s failed regime and a massive wave of cash, both to Kiev’s war effort and to their own rapid rearmament.

      The UK plans will take away money from foreign aid to use in its military, while Germany will scrap constitutional borrowing restrictions to spend like there’s no tomorrow.

      “’We see that the European Union is now very actively discussing the topic of the militarization of the EU’, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday. ‘All of this militarization is happening mainly against Russia, which, of course, could potentially be a subject of deep concern for us and require appropriate countermeasures to ensure our security’.”
      NATO soldiers in Poland: Europeans will have to shoulder progressively more of the weight of defense.

      After years of underinvestment in Defense, accustomed to relying on the U.S. to replace the American logistics, intelligence and weapons systems could take more than half a decade.

      “Precise data on Europe’s capabilities and stockpiles are closely held. But behind the scenes, defense officials warn that in extreme scenarios the region’s inventories of aircraft missiles could quickly start to run short without the US, according to some estimates. Ammunition may run low within days and air defenses would be unable to provide sufficient cover for ground operations.”

      The pressure is now on France and the UK, which have limited arsenals of nuclear weapons, to provide a deterrence.

      “Europe would struggle to manage a defensive operation on its own. The US operates 17 sophisticated spy planes — packed with equipment to detect enemy radio, radar and communications — while the UK only has three.”
      Russian submarine and hypersonic missile (montage) – Europeans obsessed with war only have capabilities to resist for a few weeks.

      Of course, such a state of defense calamity does not happen overnight, it is the ‘proud’ work of generations of incompetent Europeans overeager to fight Russia – but with American military might.

      “Over the past 30 years, core European NATO members have reduced the number of active troops by nearly 50%. In addition to combat-ready personnel, the shortages extend to the brain trust of senior officers, planners and strategists.”

      A gunman was shot outside the White House on Saturday night.

      The Daily Mail reported that the individual, who was from Indiana, was walking around the streets with a firearm after parking his vehicle on 17th and G Streets. The incident reportedly took place just after midnight.

      Thankfully, President Trump was in Mar-A-Lago at the time where he is spending his weekend. He is expected to leave at 5 p.. ET and return to the White House.

      Secret Service agents revealed the man appeared to be suicidal. Once he started waving around his weapon, he triggered a confrontation with the Secret Service.

      The gunman was transported to the hospital with injuries. There is no word yet on his current condition.

      No Secret Service agents were harmed in the incident.

      Anthony Guglielmi, Chief of Communications for the US Secret Service, released the following statement:

      Secret Service personnel were involved in a shooting following an armed encounter with a person of interest shortly after midnight on March 9 at 17th and G Streets NW.

      As officers approached, the individual brandished a firearm and an armed confrontation ensued, during which shots were fired by our personnel.

      The suspect was transported to an area hospital and his condition is unknown. There were no reported injuries to Secret Service personnel.

      The incident is under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department Internal Affairs Division’s Force Investigations Team, which investigates all law enforcement officer involved shootings in the District of Columbia.

      The Mail notes that Saturday was marked by a number of left-wing protests, including LGBTQ activists marching through the nation’s capital to the Kennedy Center last night, claiming Trump has declared a war on drag shows.

      There is no evidence at this point that the suspect participated in any one of these events.

      Another radical leftist has been caught calling for violence against President Trump.

      As TGP readers know, leftists across America have issued countless calls for violence against members of the Trump Administration for weeks, including the president himself.

      This situation has gotten so dire that agitators are now accosting the children of these officials.

      On Saturday, UCLA Criminal Law Professor Peter Arenella posted a tweet saying that the U.S. Military must launch an insurrection against Trump in order to stop America from becoming an ally of Russia. Yes, he actually said the U.S. military must destroy democracy to prevent America from joining forces with an authoritarian regime.

      How dangerous and ironic.

      “At this point, my only hope for the US to avoid becoming an ally to Russia is a violent resistance by our military,” he wrote. “Tragic to say that because the military are trained to avoid any politically motivated intervention. Firing all the Joint Chief of Staff military leaders and replacing them with military acolytes of Trump anticipated that possibility and acted swiftly to minimize that type of intervention.

      Ultimately, we will get what we deserve by giving Trump a second chance to destroy our democracy, he added.

      His tweet quickly sparked an uproar across social media with many users calling for the FBI and Secret Service to investigate Arenella and arrest him.

      Thankfully, America now has FBI director Kash Patel who is dedicated to protecting all citizens from extremists instead of using the power of government to persecute the innocent. One should not be shocked if Arenella receives a visit from the agency in the near future.

      Moreover, UCLA receives approximately $900 million in direct federal funding for “a range of contracts and grants” and another $200 million for overhead.

      If the Trump Administration can withhold federal funding over anti-Semitic protests, they can also halt funding to schools employing professors who encourage political violence.

    President Donald Trump sat down with Maria Bartiromo for Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” and discussed the current state of the Democrat Party.

    Trump shared that he believes there’s “something wrong” with Democrats in power and believes the party is in serious trouble, even suggesting that they could become a minor party based on their recent antics.

    Bartiromo, remarking on the embarrassing tantrums thrown by Dems during Trump’s address to Congress last week, said, “I was surprised at the Democrat’s behavior the other night. Because you delivered among the most diverse, expanded audience….Republicans and Democrats, Independents.”

    “So is it just that the Democrat leadership that does not see that?”

    Trump’s response was direct, “There’s something wrong with them.”

    “I can’t even believe it. They lost an election in a landslide. They were talking about men playing in women’s sports.”

    “When I looked the other night, I made a speech, the Republicans were going wild, and the Democrats were having their little signs up … their little tiny signs…and I said it’s unbelievable.”

    Hundreds of protesters descended upon a Tesla dealership in Manhattan on Saturday, shattering the front doors before “occupying” the showroom.

    At least six of the demonstrators were arrested by the NYPD.

    The liberal activists were protesting against Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

    One of the protesters could be heard screaming “Fuck Elon Musk,” while being taken away in handcuffs.

    The hoard also ironically chanted “We need clean air, not another billionaire!” Tesla, of course, makes electric vehicles — precisely what the climate change activists want to see more of.

    Another protest at the same location on March 1 resulted in nine arrests.

    Last month, a transgender activist was arrested for repeatedly vandalizing and for allegedly leaving explosives at a Colorado Tesla dealership.

    The dealership had been targeted on January 29, February 2, and February 7 — with the severity increasing each time.

    Nelson was caught red-handed at the dealership with incendiary devices and materials to vandalize the building, again, on February 24.

    In a press release about the arrest, the Loveland Police Department wrote:

    “On Monday, February 24th, 2025, just before midnight, the Loveland Police Department arrested 40-year-old Lucy Grace Nelson. The arrest was based on probable cause obtained through an extensive investigation which started on January 29th. This arrest comes after the Loveland Tesla dealership was vandalized several times, with incendiary devices discovered on the scene. On Monday evening, Nelson returned to Loveland Tesla while in possession of additional incendiary devices, along with materials attributed to vandalism. Detectives apprehended Nelson prior to further damage occurring.”

    Nelson has been charged with explosives or incendiary devices use, felony criminal mischief, and criminal attempt to commit felonies.

    In a post on X on March 8, Musk wrote that five ActBlue-funded groups are funding the protests against Tesla.

    Syrian Islamists load Alawites on trucks for ethnic cleansing

    The worst fears over the safety of Syria’s non-Islamist population have come horribly true as the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) militia unleashed ethnic cleansing on non-Muslims, killing over 1,000 since Friday. The failed Obama-Biden Regime had pushed for regime change and supported Islamist militias in Syria since 2011 and most recently dropped a $10 million bounty on the head of radical Islamist HTS leader Abu Mohammed al-Jolani.

    1,200 Christians, Druze, and other minorities have been butchered in Syria just in the last few days—rounded up, executed, and left for dead.

    Over 1,000 people have been killed in two days of ethnic cleansing by Syria’s new Islamist rulers in the country’s coastal region of Latakia, Reuters reported.

    The casualties included 745 civilians, 125 members of the Syrian security forces, and 148 fighters loyal to former President Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. Other reports speak of 4,000 dead.

    • Syrian Druze allowed to enter Israel, work in Golan Heights

      Defense Minister Israel Katz on Sunday confirmed reports that Israel intends to allow Syrian Druze and Circassians to work in the Israeli side of the Golan Heights.

      The unusual move of allowing foreign citizens of a hostile state, such as Syria, to work in Israel could have geopolitical ripples across the region and is a testament to how radically the Middle East has changed in just a few months.

      Assad regime was toppled by rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which is led by Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, last December 7-8. Until then, the regime had abided by a 1974 ceasefire with Israel. Nevertheless, it was formally in a state of war with Israel, while it served as a critical link in the chain of smuggling Iranian weapons to Hezbollah.

      This also presented a direct threat to Israel from Iranian militias that might invade and from the Syrian military’s air force, long-range missiles, and chemical weapons.

      The Syrian Druze were a minority in the Assad era who mostly kept to themselves, with some past positive history with Israel, especially with the Israeli Druze community. But it still mostly considered Israel to be a hostile party.

      Sharaa changed all of that. His ascent to power sowed fear within Israel of a jihadist invasion and among Syrian Druze that they would be oppressed or attacked, even though he said he wants quiet within Syria and along its borders.

      Not trusting Sharaa due to his jihadist background, Israel moved quickly to create a buffer zone in southern Syria to prevent even the possibility of a new invasion; included in this zone were large segments of the Syrian Druze population.

    Gaza – The Day After And The Way Forward

    The media, which should have known better, are talking about the day after the Gaza war as if it will be characterized by a political solution for peace. This is the last thing that will be possible after the war ends, if and when it does. Arab positions have become severely radicalized, and this is because the war in Gaza and on Israel’s northern border have given rise to new hope in the hearts of the Palestinians and the Arabs.

    This new hope is based on the belief that Israel is not as strong as they thought and as it presented itself, and that in fact according to the testimony of Israelis themselves – on numerous television shows – had Hizbullah done as expected, that is, fire thousands of missiles a day out of its arsenal of 150,000 and unleash its Radwan force to raid the Galilee, it is not clear that Israel would still be in existence today.

    The Arabs have also learned that taking hostages is a strategic weapon to be used against those with Western values. It should be assumed that in any future war in which one side is Western, whether Israel or anyone else, this weapon will be used.

    For these reasons, the chance of a successful arrangement is now much lower than it was previously.

    In addition, in light of the catastrophes that the war has brought, the Arabs have learned that the use of Arab civilians as human shields is highly effective against Israel and similar foes. This is because in the end, the Western world does not blame Hamas for taking hostages and using their own people as human shields, but blames Israel for fighting for its life.

    All this has given the Arabs and Palestinians new hope. It is not yet the time to make peace – only temporary arrangements.…
