Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

    The former speaker, who held unchallenged power in the state for more than three decades, was indicted back in 2022 on federal racketeering charges, alleging that he participated in a string of bribery and influence peddling schemes.

    Madigan represented the southwest side of Chicago for half a century and held a grip on power since the 1990s, using that influence to stymie governors of both parties, and he essentially dictated policies for the entire state.

    He controlled the access to campaign funds and endorsements for the state’s Democrat Party and acted like a mafia boss with an absolute control of political power. Indeed, even Governors who defied him on policy were rarely able to succeed beyond his control. Meanwhile, his allies and confidants reaped the rewards, both politically and personally.

    The Worcester City Council in Massachusetts has voted to assign the city as a “sanctuary” for transgender and gender-diverse people.

    The resolution was passed on Tuesday night and asked for the city council to declare itself a “sanctuary city” and a “place of safety” for trans people.

    Dozens of residents at the meeting shared their stories and pleaded for the resolution to be passed.

    The footage has sparked controversy online, with many criticising the city’s decision.

    Others have poked fun at the video, with some users labelling those involved as “clowns”.

      An Afghan man who is suspected of ramming a car into a crowd in Munich on Thursday had his asylum application rejected six year ago but still hadn’t been deported from Germany.
      Farhad N., 24, arrived in Germany as an unaccompanied minor in 2016 and told authorities that his father had been murdered and his life was in danger in his home country, too.
      However, German authorities rejected his application for asylum a year later, according to local press reports.
      After finally losing an appeal in 2019, he was listed for deportation but was allowed to stay due to the poor security situation in his home country.
      He is suspected of ramming a car into a group of protesters in Munich on Thursday morning, causing dozens of injuries.
      Police shot at his vehicle and pulled him out of the car before arresting him at the scene. The crime has since been taken up by the local anti-terror unit.
      The attack comes a little over a week before Germany is to hold a federal election ahead of which terrorism and security have played a central role.

      Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) said the quiet part out loud during a House Financial Services Committee hearing on Wednesday, revealing the Democrats’ true concerns about DOGE and Elon Musk.

      As The Gateway Pundit reported, Elon Musk on Tuesday announced DOGE will start looking into federal government workers who have managed to acquire tens of millions of dollars while working on the taxpayer dime.

      “We do find it sort of rather odd that there are quite a few people in the bureaucracy who have essentially a salary of a few hundred thousand dollars but somehow manage to accrue tens of millions of dollars in net worth while they are in that position,” Musk said.

      “We’re just curious as to where it came from. Whether they have very good investing in which that case we should take their investment advice perhaps,” he added. “They seem to be mysteriously getting wealthy, and we don’t know why – where did it come from? I think the reality is that they are getting wealthier at the taxpayer’s expense.”

      This news from Musk came after news revealed that DOGE had gained access to several government departments, including USAID and the Department of Treasury. With these developments, one can see why government employees are in an all-out panic.

      While interrogating Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, Waters demanded to know whether he would let Musk audit the fed. When Powell refused to give a straight answer, Waters let her mask slip.

      “Well, you know what happened at Treasury, and you know what happened over at the CFPB,” Waters said.” People of this country are being violated because all of our privacy has been taken up by Elon Musk and Trump.”

      “And we don’t know what they have on us.”

        The House Ethics Committee investigated her and she was charged with violations in 2010. she was cleared of those charges September 21, 2012.

        Darling Maxine endorsed Hillary and switched to Obama.

    President Trump is cleaning out the Justice Department of Biden holdovers, who have sought to end his political career and take away his freedom.

    As ABC News reported on Thursday, the Trump administration has fired multiple remaining Biden-appointed US attorneys “effective immediately.”

    ABC News reported:

    The White House sent letters to multiple Biden-appointed holdover U.S. attorneys informing them of their termination, sources familiar with the matter confirm to ABC News.

    The emails were sent on Wednesday by the deputy director of the White House’s office of presidential personnel, Sergio Gor, and informed the U.S. attorneys they were ousted “effective immediately.”

    According to Reuters, the email reads as follows: “At the direction of President Donald J. Trump, I am writing to inform you that your position as U.S. Attorney is terminated, effective immediately.”

    What makes this move unique is that the orders for termination come directly from the White House rather than from the Attorney General. During the last Trump administration, then-AG Jeff Sessions asked Obama-appointed U.S. Attorneys to resign.

    One of the terminations hit a career prosecutor who was court-appointed as the U.S. Attorney according to NBC News’s Ryan Reilly.

    It’s unclear how many U.S. attorneys have been fired so far. Some Biden-appointed US attorneys had already voluntarily resigned starting in December and January as Bloomberg law notes.

    U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland Erek Barron also sent out an office-wide farewell email, which was seen by Reuters shortly after the terminations were announced:

    “As many of you may know by now, my time with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland has come to an end,” Barron wrote. “It has been an honor to lead such a talented and dedicated team.”

    By removing most of these remaining Biden appointees, Trump is now closer to having a DOJ that will put the American people first and focus on the issues that matter, such as removing illegal aliens.

    The man likely to be the next German chancellor is out for revenge against Elon Musk.

    Friedrich Merz, the leader of the Christian Democratic Union and the front-runner in polls ahead of this month’s election, said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that Musk must face “consequences” for daring to support a right-wing political party.

    “What happened in this election campaign cannot go unchallenged,” Merz said of Musk’s support for the AFD.

    “It can be a political response. It can be a legal response,” he continued. “I want to analyze this calmly after this election campaign.”

    When asked whether he would go after Tesla, which has a European gigafactory in Berlin, Merz left the door open to the possibility.

    “I am deliberately leaving the consequences open for now.”

    Merz added that Musk’s support needs to be investigated.

    “It is election campaign support. Whether it also represents an economic saving or contribution to the AfD, so to speak, needs to be investigated,” he said.

    ”The fact that someone from outside Europe intervenes in a national election campaign in this way is new.”

    As Germany drowns under the strain of mass immigration and cultural disharmony, Musk has publicly expressed his support for the AFD and even made an appearance at their conference via video link.

    “I think it could decide the entire fat of Europe, maybe the entire fate of the world,” Musk said during his address.

    “That is the significance of this election. So that’s why it’s very important to talk to your friends and family and convince them to consider voting for AfD.”

    AFD are currently polling around 20 percent mark. Although they are unlikely to be able to form a majority or even form part of a coalition, a strong showing would increase their influence over the next government.

    Last month, the incumbent German Chancellor Olaf Sholz denounced Musk as a “troll” and said he was not interested in having a good relationship.

    “There are a lot of people on social media who want to attract attention with snappy slogans,” Scholz said.

    “I don’t believe in courting Mr. Musk’s favor,” he continued. “I’m happy to leave that to others.

  15. Five Arrested On Drug, Gun Charges After Advertising on Social Media

    I know people who, for a while, couldn’t post a single meme without catching some sort of ban on social media, particularly Facebook. You couldn’t get away with anything unless you were toeing the official line. We now know that the FBI was actually directing at least some of the site’s actions.

    But the fact that they took that approach always kind of bugged me, in part because we’ve seen criminals basically advertise their “goods” on the site. These are the ones that got caught, but how many of them escaped notice?

    You and I can’t advertise our firearms on the site without catching hell from the site, but these five didn’t blink in advertising drugs and machine guns.

    Five suspects were arrested after they allegedly used social media to traffic guns and drugs, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said.

    What we know:

    In a Feb. 10 news release, the sheriff’s office said investigators Valley-wide were able to identify and arrest five suspects accused of advertising fully-automatic machine guns online.

    “During the arrest, in addition to the weapons, dangerous substances including 2,000 fentanyl pills, small quantities of cocaine, MDMA, and methamphetamines were confiscated,” the sheriff’s office said.

    Of the two firearms actually shown, one was a Glock handgun, though not one equipped with a full-auto switch, and some kind of AR-type rifle. I’m assuming there were full-auto switches or additional firearms and that the rifle itself was modified for full-auto fire, but there aren’t any specifics in the report.

    Of course, fully automatic weapons are the most heavily restricted guns in the country, which means it’s unlikely these aren’t legal firearms.

    The only thing that’s nearly as tightly regulated as full-auto weapons? Drugs.

    In fact, pharmaceuticals might be the one industry more tightly regulated than the gun industry, at least in some ways, and these guys had prohibited items from both.

    It’s almost like criminals aren’t really deterred by laws and stuff.

    Nothing these guys were reportedly caught with was acceptable. All of it is heavily restricted. I can’t get a full-auto AR-type rifle or a full-auto switch without dropping new car money and jumping through seemingly endless hoops. I can’t get cocaine or MDMA at the pharmacy. None of this is legal in any way.

    And yet, these five were allegedly caught with all of it.

    Laws don’t restrict behavior in the people whose behavior is most in need of restriction. Criminals continue to do the things they’re prohibited from doing. Only the law-abiding are prevented from owning these kinds of firearms in any real, meaningful way.

    If gun control works, why has drug control failed so miserably? What is so different about one versus the other, at least when it comes to preventing criminals from having them?

    The answer is nothing.

    Where the difference lies is that people like you and me could own these guns and the only thing getting shot up would be targets at the range or anyone stupid enough to try to attack us. That’s it.

    It’s way past time to end every gun control law in the country. Stop infringing on our rights by claiming you need to address crime, especially since it’s obvious that criminals aren’t being addressed.

    A Nigerian woman who tried and failed eight times to secure asylum in Britain was finally granted the right to stay after joining a terrorist organisation just to boost her claim.
    The judge who gave the 49-year-old woman the right to stay acknowledged that she was not being honest about her political beliefs and had become involved with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) only “in order to create a claim for asylum”.
    The woman, who came to the UK in 2011, joined IPOB in 2017. A separatist group that has been blamed for acts of violence against the Nigerian state, it has been banned as a terrorist organisation by Nigeria but is not proscribed in the UK.
    Upper tribunal judge Gemma Loughran ruled that the asylum seeker’s activities on behalf of the group meant she had a “well-founded fear of persecution” under human rights laws due to her “imputed” political opinion.
    The disclosure in court documents, seen by The Telegraph, is the latest immigration case in which migrants have used human rights laws to halt their deportation or win the right to live in the UK.
    It is the fourth case exposed by The Telegraph this week. Previous examples include an Albanian criminal who avoided deportation after claiming his son had an aversion to foreign chicken nuggets and a Pakistani paedophile who was jailed for child sex offences but escaped removal from the UK as it would be “unduly harsh” on his own children.
    On Wednesday, the issues raised by the cases dominated Prime Minister’s Questions, with Sir Keir Starmer branding as “wrong” another tribunal decision that allowed a Palestinian family to come to live in the UK after they applied through a scheme for Ukrainian refugees.
    He said Parliament, not judges, should make the rules on immigration and pledged Yvette Cooper, the Home Secretary, would work on closing the loophole.
    Chris Philp, the shadow home secretary, said the Nigerian case was “patently absurd”.
    “This shows judges are inventing new and comically ludicrous interpretations of vague European Convention on Human Rights’ (ECHR) articles in order to allow foreign criminals and illegal immigrants to stay in the country,” he said.

    A Democrat congressman on Wednesday issued an apparent call for violence against Elon Musk as the party’s meltdown over DOGE’s efforts to downsize the government and drain the swamp continues.

    Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) appeared on CNN News Central with Brianna Keilar to discuss Wednesday’s DOGE subcommittee hearing where he presented a picture of Musk and called it a “d**k pic.” Several of his Democrat colleagues also proceeded to degrade themselves during the critical hearing.

    A concerned Keilar grilled Garcia, understandably skeptical that his childish antics would impair Democrats’ ability to counter Musk and the Trump administration.

    “Do you think that calling Elon Musk a “d**k” is effective messaging for confronting what is a potentially irreversible transformation of the U.S. government?” Keilar asked.

    Despite being given an out by the CNN anchor, Garcia chose instead to double down.

    “Well, he is a d**k,” Garcia responded. “I also think he is harming the American public in an enormous way.”

    Then Garcia seemed to call for violence against Musk, calling for “actual weapons” to be used against him.

    “What the American public wants is for us to bring actual weapons against Elon Musk to this bar fight,” he continued. “This an actual fight for democracy, for the future of this country.”

    Democrats should know that such language will only inspire more of their deranged followers to try to kill President Trump, Musk, and other Republicans. Just look at the two attempts on Trump’s life last year.

    On Thursday, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) announced on X that she and others would be filing a censure motion against Garcia for his sick words.

    “The Left is officially out of control. Last night, Democrat Rep. Robert Garcia called for “ACTUAL WEAPONS” to be used against Elon Musk,” she wrote. “How many more times will Democrats incite violence against the president of the United States or Republicans on national television?

    “We have NO CHOICE but to rein them in. We’re introducing a motion to censure him.”

    Censuring is a good idea, but a better move would be to remove violent leftists like Garcia from Congress altogether. Criminal charges should also be on the table.

    President Trump has imposed sweeping reciprocal tariffs on every country that charges the United States taxes or tariffs on imported goods.

    “Whatever countries charge the United States of America, we will charge them. No more, no less,” the President said as he signed an order.

    “In almost all cases, they’re charging us vastly more than we charge them, but those days are over.”

    The President later added, “It is fair to all, no other Country can complain and, in some cases, if a Country feels that the United States would be getting too high a Tariff, all they have to do is reduce or terminate their Tariff against us.”

    Trump: On trade, I have decided, for purposes of fairness, that I will charge a reciprocal tariff, meaning whatever countries charge the United States of America, we will charge them. No more, no less. In other words, they charge us a tax or a tariff, and we charge them the exact same tax or tariff. Very simple.     Bill O’Reilly made a stunning prediction Wednesday night on NewsNation’s Cuomo: Donald Trump is going to destroy NY Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. And Trump may just have an unlikely ally to make that goal a reality.

    O’Reilly claimed that New York Mayor Adams “knows where the bodies are buried” when it comes to James and Bragg, the two figures who aggressively pursued Trump in court. What he means by this is Adams may hold damaging information that could help Trump turn the tables on the prosecutors who have relentlessly targeted him.

    “I’m going to predict it here. He [Trump] will bring down Letitia James and Alvin Bragg because they went on a crusade to destroy him. And President Trump is not a forgiving man,” O’Reilly declared.

    O’Reilly stopped short of confirming that Adams is actively cooperating, saying, “I’m not reporting it to be true, but it kind of makes sense.” Still, the claim raises major questions: Does Adams have dirt on James and Bragg? And if so, what is Trump planning?

    Trump has made it clear that he sees James and Bragg’s lawsuits as politically motivated lawfare. James’ civil case led to a nearly half-billion-dollar penalty against Trump, while Bragg indicted him over hush money payments, resulting in a conviction on 34 felony counts. Both cases were seen as direct efforts to cripple Trump politically and financially ahead of the 2024 election.

    Now, Trump appears to be fighting back at the state level, with O’Reilly noting that Illinois and New York could see their federal funding cut—a move that would devastate their budgets. O’Reilly explained that the Justice Department is reportedly holding up $8 billion in grants that were set to flow into New York, a state already drowning in financial trouble.

    O’Reilly also suggested that California Governor Gavin Newsom is next on Trump’s hit list, implying that the legal and political pressure won’t stop with New York.

    “The big power is Newsom in California. Newsom’s next. Hey, Gavin, they’re coming for you,” he warned.

    Corrupt Obama judge Amy Berman Jackson granted a longer extension to fired Biden holdover Hampton Dellinger.

    The DC Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday evening said the Trump Administration could not appeal an administrative stay entered by Judge Amy Berman Jackson related to the firing and reinstatement of Dellinger.

    President Trump fired Hampton Dellinger, Special Counsel of the Office of Special Counsel (not to be confused with a special counsel hired as a federal prosecutor) last Friday.

    On Monday, Trump appointed Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins to take over Dellinger’s job as the Special Counsel.

    Later Monday evening, Judge Amy Berman Jackson sided with Hampton Dellinger, issued an administrative stay, and allowed him to keep his job.

    “Trump must allow Dellinger to continue to have “access” to the agency’s resources and cannot “recognize the authority of any other person as Special Counsel” while the order remains in effect, Jackson wrote,” according to Politico.

    Amy Berman Jackson entered an administrative stay rather than a TRO which made appealing her decision tricky.

    The Trump Justice Department immediately appealed Judge Jackson’s administrative stay anyway on Monday night.

    The DC District Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday dismissed Trump’s appeal of Judge Jackson’s administrative stay and kicked Dellinger’s firing back to Amy Berman Jackson.

    The three judge panel – Florence Pan (Biden), Michelle Childs (Obama) and Greg Katsas (Trump) said the Trump Administration cannot appeal an ‘administrative stay.’

    “…the emergency motion for stay be dismissed as moot,” the judges said in Wednesday evening’s order.

    Judge Jackson’s order was set to expire on Thursday, so she granted an extension late Wednesday and argued Trump cannot unilaterally fire the Special Counsel of the Office of Special Counsel.

    The judge is keeping Hampton Dellinger in his job until at least February 26 when an injunction hearing can be held, Politico reported.

    This case will likely be taken to the US Supreme Court.

    The Supreme Court’s landmark decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen should have put an end to unconstitutional gun laws restricting lawful concealed carry.

    But in classic anti-gun fashion, New York politicians, led by Governor Kathy Hochul, [who the Trump DOJ is now suing over immigration policy crimes] refused to respect the ruling. Instead, they replaced the unconstitutional “proper cause” requirement with an equally restrictive “good moral character” standard, adding a maze of new “sensitive places” where law-abiding citizens can’t carry.

    The legal battle over these new restrictions has now reached the Supreme Court in Antonyuk v. James, and as Arbalest Quarrel’s newest article rightfully argues, SCOTUS needs to grant certiorari and settle this once and for all.

    New York’s Defiance of Bruen

    In Bruen, SCOTUS made it crystal clear: if a law restricting gun rights doesn’t fit within the “text, history, and tradition” of the Second Amendment, it’s unconstitutional!

    However, New York lawmakers, a viper’s nest of “Tories” to this day, immediately scrambled to pass the Concealed Carry Improvement Act (CCIA), designed to sidestep Bruen while still achieving the same goal—denying citizens their right to bear arms.

    As Arbalest Quarrel explains, “Governor Hochul did not comply with the High Court’s rulings and made plain she had no intention of complying.” Instead, the state developed a workaround by “mask[ing] use of that [Proper Cause] standard under the rubric of ‘Good Moral Character.’” This standard, coupled with the expansion of “sensitive places,” allowed New York to continue restricting gun rights under a different name.

    The Arbalest Quarrel article details how Hochul and the New York Legislature pushed forward with the CCIA despite the clear precedent set by Bruen. The law forces applicants to prove they have “good moral character,” disclose social media accounts for government review, and comply with an ever-growing list of off-limits “sensitive locations.”
    Antonyuk v. James: The Latest Second Amendment Showdown

    Gun rights groups and citizens have been fighting these new laws in the courts, leading to the ongoing case Antonyuk v. James. The case challenges how New York’s new restrictions violate Bruen, particularly the expansion of “sensitive places” where carrying is prohibited. While federal courts have already struck down parts of the CCIA, New York keeps appealing, dragging the case back and forth. The state’s strategy? Delay, confuse, and wear down gun owners with endless legal battles.

    As the Arbalest Quarrel article highlights, the case “has gone through several captioning iterations” as it moved through the courts, but “the original Antonyuk II case would always remain the lead case challenging Governor Hochul’s amendments.”

    The Arbalest Quarrel article emphasizes that SCOTUS must act to resolve this issue decisively. Without intervention, New York and other anti-gun states will continue playing games with the Second Amendment, defying clear Supreme Court precedent.
    The Supreme Court Needs to End This Now

    The Bruen decision was supposed to be a win for the Second Amendment, but anti-gun states like New York are doing everything they can to water it down. If SCOTUS doesn’t step in soon, these states will keep exploiting legal loopholes to strip citizens of their rights. The Antonyuk case gives the Supreme Court a chance to reinforce its superior ruling and shut down New York’s anti-gun defiance once and for all.

    The Arbalest Quarrel article urges SCOTUS to recognize the urgency of the matter and expedite review on the merits, warning that “the fate of the High Court’s decisions in Heller, McDonald, and Bruen and the fate of the Second Amendment itself, hang in the balance!” The Court has the power to stop this merry-go-round of unconstitutional laws—now they just need to use it.
    The Bottom Line

    The fight for gun rights didn’t end with Bruen. New York’s CCIA proves that anti-gun politicians will keep pushing the limits until SCOTUS slams the door shut. The Antonyuk case is that opportunity. The Supreme Court must step in, uphold Bruen, and make it clear that the Second Amendment is not a second-class right.

  28. Kansas Looking to Defend ‘God-Given Gun Rights’ in State Constitution

    Not everyone believes in God, but they know that the term “God-given” means something that you have by virtue of simply existing. The right to live being chief among those. Another such God-given right is the right to keep and bear arms.

    A lot of people don’t agree with that, but I honestly don’t care all that much about what those people think.

    It is what it is and their opinions aren’t going to change that.

    In Kansas, they like the right to keep and bear arms. It’s a state that isn’t really threatening those rights for people who live there. Now, they want to go a step further.

    Members of the House Federal and State Affairs Committee are considering House Concurrent Resolution 5006, which would present to voters a constitutional amendment that recognizes the God-given right to own a firearm, ammunition and accessories. The proposal would apply a “strict scrutiny” to the right, invoking a legal term with the goal of blocking any future restrictions on gun rights. That means even armor-piercing bullets could be protected, according to testimony from proponents.

    Springer, who said the constitutional amendment would put guns in the hands of felons and abusers, was one of two opponents to speak at a Feb. 5 hearing on the resolution, although opponents who submitted testimony outnumber proponents 32-13. The other opponent who spoke, Nick Reinecker, said the resolution doesn’t provide enough freedom for gun owners.

    The resolution has the support of 67 sponsors in the House, as well as Attorney General Kris Kobach.

    The proposed constitutional amendment refers to “a natural and fundamental right” to carry guns, which Kobach defined for committee members as “a God-given right, or if one doesn’t believe in God, then a right that is of the very essence of human logic and human nature.”

    “It’s a right that government doesn’t create,” Kobach said.

    Of course, first, we should note that this piece starts with someone named Grace Springer talking about a school shooting in 2022. She doesn’t seem to have any additional experience in gun policy other than seeing something scary.

    So when she claims this amendment would put guns in the hands of felons and abusers, that’s just an opinion that isn’t predicated on any actual expertise.

    And while opponents outnumbered proponents in submitted testimony, I can’t help but wonder how many of those were like Reinecker, who think it doesn’t go far enough.

    And he has a point.

    The strict scrutiny standard is actually an easier standard to clear than the Bruen test, which means it’ll be easier to defend gun control under such a standard. Not easy, mind you–a lot of us wanted a strict scrutiny standard out of the Bruen decision. What we got was far better than that–so the case could be made that it doesn’t go far enough.

    But that said, it’s a difference without practical distinction in the grand scheme of things. It’ll still be a far better to have a constitution with protections than without them.

    Plus, I love that it includes firearm accessories. Especially in light of the recent court decision that suppressors aren’t covered under the Second Amendment.

    So we’ll see where this goes, if anyway. It should be interesting to watch.

  29. Taxpayer Dollars Funded Gun Control Under Biden

    Gun owners are getting exactly what they voted for with President Donald Trump. There’s an accounting for government malfeasance. He’s turned up the receipts.

    President Trump is delivering on his promise to break open the secretive spending habits of government officials. It is exactly what voters wanted, and frankly, expected. The results, however, have been jaw-dropping. Gun control proponents have been smashing open the government piggy bank to swipe dollars for their pet gun control projects.

    That’s right. Gun control advocates were using taxpayer dollars to fund their campaign to rob Americans of their Constitutionally protected rights to keep and bear arms. That’s insult to injury after the Biden-Harris administration installed a taxpayer-funded office dedicated to pushing gun control. It was staffed by a former lobbyist for Everytown for Gun Safety, the gun control group funded by antigun billionaire Michael Bloomberg. This office effectively closed up in the days leading up to President Trump taking office as the staff all resigned.

    Turns out, the billions of Bloomberg bucks, or money from George and Alexander Soros, weren’t enough for gun control advocates. They wanted the effort to cut off Second Amendment rights to come straight from Americans’ wallets – including those tax dollars paid by gun owners themselves.

    Investigative journalist and gun writer Lee Williams uncovered what many have suspected for years. Except it was covered up in layers of bureaucracy, farmed out as “grants” through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). That’s the federal agency that’s drawn the first and damning examination by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
    The Receipts

    Williams’ deep dive into USAID money showed that Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety, along with Giffords Courage to Fight Gun Violence, were primary beneficiaries of tax dollars to fund their gun control efforts. That money was funneled through NEO Philanthropy, which also funneled money to support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs too.

    The flow chart of money laundering is a labyrinth of middlemen, which reports that no tax dollars are spent. But that’s not true. A little digging shows that nearly $7.5 million were funneled to Bloomberg’s Everytown, mostly through donations paid to NEO Philanthropy, including $245,000 from the Board of Trustees of the Lelan, $150,000 from the Tides Center (a George Soros organization), $12,000 from Civicus World Alliance, $300,000 from the Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and a whopping $6,748,000 from Fidelity Investments Charitable Gift Fund.

    The maze of money shuffling is being mapped out by DataRepublican.com. That site offers tools to track how tax dollars moved to gun control groups. That includes the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, which took in $12,809,748 in contributions, which started with the Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening reporting $186,143739 in taxpayer funds that was moved through many as five layers of “charities” to fund their efforts. Bloomberg’s March for Our Lives, showed $1,407,153 in donationsthat started with $165,142,739 in taxpayer funds. Sandy Hook Promise, a Connecticut-based gun control group, reported $1,417 049 us taxpayer funds in their coffers, according to DataRepublican.com. Everytown’s mapping shows $31,802,725 in contributions with $4,963,214 in grants. DataRepublican.com shows Giffords with $8,292,189 in contributions, that started with the same Consortium for Election and Political Process Strengthening tax dollars, moving through, again, at least five layers of charities.
    Look Who’s Talking

    This unmasking of citizens’ tax dollars being put to work against their Constitutional rights is raising the ire of those who – surprise, surprise – want to use more tax dollars to swipe away Second Amendment rights. U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) claims President Trump’s efforts to bring accountability to taxpayer expenditures is “attempting to seize control of power, and for corrupt purposes,” according to The Hill. U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) said “This illegal, unconstitutional interference with congressional power is threatening lives all over the world,” according to another report in The Hill.

    Shakespeare wrote in Hamlet, “The lady doth protest too much, methinks.” Those politicians crowing about the secretive manipulation of tax dollars against the interests – and the very rights protected by the Constitution – should be a five-alarm bell for taxpayers, not just gun owners. It might also pull back the veil of why these same lawmakers rail against the Dickey Amendment that states, “none of the funds made available for injury prevention and control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention may be used to advocate or promote gun control.” NSSF reported in 2022 that an investigative report by The Reload showed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was likely violating that law as recently as then.

    A federal judge temporarily blocked Elon Musk’s DOGE from accessing government systems to dig up the wasteful and damaging money laundering of tax dollars after 19 Democratic state attorneys general, led by gun control advocate New York State Attorney General Letitia James, sued.

    To pull another line from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, “Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.” Or in this case – Washington, D.C.

  30. Another Judge Rules Against Machine Gun Ban

    We reported last August how a federal judge in Kansas ruled that the federal law tightly regulating the ownership and transfer of full-auto firearms, aka machine guns, is unconstitutional. Now, a federal judge in Mississippi has ruled the same, and for many of the same reasons.

    On January 29, U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves ruled in the case U.S. v. Brown that the federal law effectively banning the sale and possession of newly produced or unregistered machine guns was unconstitutional, at least for the defendant in the criminal case.

    The case revolves around Justin Bryce Brown, a Mississippi man. Brown, who had no prior record, was arrested and charged with ownership of a machine gun in violation of federal law.

    In his ruling, Judge Reeves said the government didn’t meet its obligation to prove that machine guns are both “dangerous” and “unusual.”

    “Bruen nevertheless tells us that there is an American ‘historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of ‘dangerous and unusual weapons.’” he wrote. “That is the law to be followed. The ultimate problem for the government, then, is this: although machine guns are ‘dangerous,’ it does not explain how machine guns are unusual.”

    Comparing machine guns to semi-automatic firearms, Judge Reeves still concluded that the government had not proven what it must to uphold the law.

    “Machine guns are even more dangerous,” Judge Reeves wrote. “There’s no dispute about that. But … dangerousness is not the end of the matter, because firearms can be dangerous and constitutionally protected. Instead, the government has the burden to prove that the firearm to be restricted is both dangerous and unusual.”

    Ultimately, Judge Reeves ruled that the case against Brown must be dismissed.

    “The controlling standard of the moment requires this Court to ‘determine the contours of acceptable prosecutions through the resolution of continual as-applied challenges,’ based on the evidence and arguments before it. Under that standard, Mr. Brown’s as-applied challenge is sustained. His motion is granted and the case dismissed.”

    In the Kansas case mentioned at the beginning of this story, U.S. District Judge John Broomes in the case U.S. v Morgan explained how the Bruen decision played an important role in his consideration of that case.

    “Defendant argues that the government cannot meet its burden to show that [the statute] is consistent with this nation’s history of firearm regulation,” Judge Broomes’ ruling stated. “To meet its burden, the government advances only two potential historical analogs. First, the government points to English common law, which it asserts prohibited riding or going armed with dangerous or usual weapons. Second, the government cites one case from the North Carolina Supreme Court in 1824 that recognized an offense to arm oneself ‘with dangerous and unusual weapons, in such a manner as will naturally cause a terror to the people.’ But both examples are disanalogous to what Defendant is charged with here—simple possession of a machine gun.”

    Unfortunately for America’s lawful gun owners, since the Mississippi case was a criminal one, the ruling applies only to the defendant. It’s likely that eventually, the Supreme Court will have to determine the legality of machine gun ownership, given how this case aligned with the Bruen standards.
