Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. President Joe Biden delivered a short address from the White House on Sunday, claiming credit for the toppling of the regime of Syrian dictator Bashar Assad, who was ousted by rebels after a long and brutal reign lasting decades.

    Biden claimed that a combination of U.S. policies — isolating Assad; tying Russia down in Ukraine; and allowing Israel freedom of action against Iran and its Hezbollah proxy — weakened the regime and left it without defenders.

  2. A report by the New York Times (NYT) suggests President-elect Donald J. Trump has “lost faith” in the National Rifle Association (NRA).

    According to the NYT, NRA First Vice President Bill Bachenberg used a letter to disclose, “I can say for a fact that President Trump and his most inner circle have lost faith in the NRA.”

    Bachenburg also noted, “I communicate with them often. We have a tremendous amount of work to rebuild trust with them, just like our members and donors.”

    The NYT pointed out that a sticking point for Trump appears to be the tens of millions of dollars the NRA has paid William A. Brewer III, an attorney who whose political donations “have favored Democrats over the years.

  3. Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) will become Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) on Monday, December 9, after current Sen. Laphonza Butler (D-CA) resigned abruptly, allowing California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) to appoint Schiff early.

    The gambit, while technically legal, is an evident attempt by California to gain an edge in the Senate by giving Schiff seniority over newly-elected Senators from other states, who will only be sworn into their offices on January 3, 2025.

  16. Mayor Eric Adams is looking for ways to go over the City Council’s head to tweak the Big Apple’s restrictive migrant “sanctuary city” designation, he said during a TV interview Sunday.

    “The City Council made it clear they don’t want to change that,” Adams said on CBS’s “The Point with Marcia Kramer.” “They stated they’re not willing to change the sanctuary city law. I think they’re wrong. I have my teams looking at my power as executive orders.

    “Do I have the power to do so? I have to protect the people of this city,” he said. “That is my north star.”

  20. Daniel Penny Found Not Guilty in NYC Subway Chokehold Case

    A New York City jury on Monday found Marine veteran Daniel Penny not guilty of criminally negligent homicide in the chokehold death of Jordan Neely on a New York City subway car in 2023.

    CBS News reports Penny, 26, pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.

    • The jury showed good sense and has allowed citizens to protect themselves and others, this has angered the left and the race hustlers, BLM is openly calling for riots and for blacks to attack whites at random.

      The people who thought that Donald Trumps election would prevent a kinetic civil war (I not one of them) are very wrong, all the election did was force the left to start the violence. I have been very worried about what would happen when the jury reached the logical decision and declared Perry not guilty. Tie the BLM reaction in with Luigi Mangione manifesto on his murder of the United Healthcare CEO and you have the beginning of an asymmetric civil war. This is a war the left can’t win but one they can’t stop, they have spend the past 3 decades working to tear the US apart and create chaos so bad that the people will willingly give up their rights for the illusion of safety.

      I don’t think things will get so bad that the delivery of food, medicine and other goods will be stopped although there may be some disruption from time to time. Keep several days to a months supply of food on hand along with a 30 day supply of all of you medicine (if you can get the doctors to give you that much of a cushion). I do expect more targeted murders of wealthy people and Executives of rich corporations. While we will see some terror attacks that resemble those of the US terrorists during the 60s and 70s we will also see attacks like those of the European terrorists from the same time period and those were very bloody and often included random bombings in cities. The MO used included bombs left in stores and car bombs parked on busy streets.

  21. Navy veteran Zachary Young has won a number of crucial trial motions in his defamation case against far-left CNN and Jake Tapper.

    As Breitbart News reported, in November of 2021, during Biden’s disastrous evacuation of Afghanistan when the fake media were looking to turn anyone not named Joe Biden into a villain, Jake Tapper told his viewers, “Afghans trying to get out of the country face a black market full of promises, demands of exorbitant fees, and no guarantee of safety or success.”

    He then turned the segment over to CNN correspondent Alex Marquardt, who said that “desperate Afghans are being exploited” by those offering evacuation services for “exorbitant, often impossible” costs.

    “A picture of Young was then shown on the screen, with Marquardt saying that Nemex Enterprises was charging $75,000 for vehicle transport from Kabul to Pakistan and $14,500 for flights to the United Arab Emirates,” Breitbart narrated.

  22. Official Mugshot of Luigi Mangione Released — Faces Five Charges, Including Illegal Gun Possession, but No Murder Charge

    Authorities have released the official mugshot of 26-year-old Luigi Mangione, who is facing five charges, including illegal gun possession, in connection with the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

    Mangione has not been charged with murder at the time.

    Mangione was arrested on Monday, at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

    A vigilant employee recognized him from widely circulated images and alerted law enforcement. Upon arrest, Mangione was found in possession of a “3D-printed ghost gun”—a firearm assembled from parts purchased online—equipped with a silencer, as well as multiple fake identifications and a handwritten manifesto criticizing the health insurance industry.

    “Responding officers questioned the suspect, who was acting suspiciously and carrying multiple fraudulent IDs as well as a U.S. passport,” New York City Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch told reporters Monday.

    “Upon further investigation, officers recovered a firearm on his person, as well as a suppressor, both consistent with the weapon used in the murder.”

    According to AP:

    Mangione was sitting at a table in the rear of the McDonald’s wearing a blue medical mask and looking at a laptop computer, court documents said. A customer saw him and an employee called 911, said Kaz Daughtry, an NYPD deputy commissioner.

    Altoona Police Officer Tyler Frye said he and his partner recognized the suspect immediately when he pulled down his mask. “We just didn’t think twice about it. We knew that was our guy,” he said.

    When an officer asked if he’d been to New York recently, he “became quiet and started to shake,” according to court records.

    In his backpack, police found a black, 3D-printed pistol and a 3D-printed black silencer, the documents said. The pistol had a metal slide and plastic handle with a metal threaded barrel. He was taken into custody at about 9:15 a.m., police said.

    “He is believed to be our person of interest in the brazen, targeted murder of Brian Thompson,” NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.

    Mangione had clothing and a mask similar to those worn by the shooter and a fraudulent New Jersey ID matching one the suspect used to check into a New York City hostel before the shooting, Tisch said.

    Luigi was spotted in police custody for the first time entering a courthouse in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania.

    Mangione was arraigned and ordered to be held without bail during a brief court hearing in Pennsylvania. When asked if he required a public defender, he responded by asking if he could “answer that at a future date.”

    The charges against Mangione include forgery, carrying a gun without a license, false identification to law enforcement authorities, and tampering with records or identification, according to The U.S. Sun.

    He has not been formally charged with Thompson’s murder. According to authorities, Mangione will eventually be extradited to New York to face charges related to Thompson’s death.

    According to AP, “The gunman concealed his identity with a mask during the shooting yet left a trail of evidence, including a backpack he ditched in Central Park, a cellphone found in a pedestrian plaza and a water bottle and protein bar wrapper that police say he bought at Starbucks minutes before the attack.”

    • From what I have read and from the pictures of the pistol it is a 3D printed firearm with some parts ordered over the net. Yes you can order parts for a firearm over the net, the Receiver/frame of the firearm is the restricted part, all other parts are legal to order and have delivered to your house. The pistol looks to be a .22 Long Rifle, since the shooter used a suppressor he was probably using subsonic (bullet doesn’t have enough velocity to break the sound barrier, this causes a crack that experienced people will recognize) ammo. The suppressor is a Title 3 device, it was restricted in the National Firearms Act of 1934, it requires a $200 transfer tax stamp for you to purchase one and it must be registered with the Federal and County Government. It may require City and State registering also, I have never had one and don’t know the full law on them.

      I can’t tell anymore from the picture and don’t really want to spend the time searching for the stats for the pistol.

    The disgraced journalist Taylor Lorenz followed the man who allegedly murdered UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on X, it has now emerged.

    Authorities in New York arrested former Ivy League student Luigi Mangione on Monday following a nationwide manhunt in the wake of Thompson’s murder.

    Thompson, 50, was shot in the chest by a masked man on Wednesday morning, outside the Hilton hotel in Midtown Manhattan in what was understood to be a targeted attack. He was taken to hospital and was later pronounced dead.

    Police have since discovered a variety of incriminating evidence, including a handgun equipped with a silencer, multiple fake identification documents, and a handwritten manifesto expressing his disgust against the healthcare industry.

    Lorenz, a former Washington Post reporter and far-left activist, responded to his assasination by attempting to justify his murder.

    “And people wonder why we want these executives dead,” Lorenz wrote on Bluesky, citing a report that one insurance provider will no longer cover the costs of anesthesia.

    Following Mangione’s arrest on Monday, it has emerged that Lorenz followed him on the X platform. No further details are known about their relationship.

    Meanwhile, Semafor reported on Monday that Vox would no longer distribute Lorenz’s podcast:

    Vox Media is ending its deal to distribute Taylor Lorenz’s podcast and YouTube show. The company had a short-term partnership with the high-profile tech reporter that is set to expire at the beginning of the year, Semafor has learned.

    The company announced its partnership with Lorenz earlier this year in Axios, which dubbed the distribution deal a “huge win” for the company, as it tried to partner with premiere podcast talent on distribution, monetization and strategy.

    Still, while Lorenz remains one of the most talked-about journalists in digital media, her social media persona is a magnet for criticism both for her and for media companies associated with her.

  24. Mass Shootings Including Police Officer Shot in Cicero, Illinois After Venezuelan Transnational Gang Member Had Been Arrested by I.C.E.

    Over the weekend in Cicero, Illinois—a southwest suburb of Chicago—there were five total people shot, including one police officer and one person killed.

    This comes just a week after eight people were shot, with three killed just south of Cicero in the Gage Park neighborhood.

    The Gateway Pundit previously reported on the Gage Park incident, which has now been confirmed to be Venezuelan and likely illegals.

    Recent reporting from WBBM Chicago indicates the shooter of the police officer has been identified as a known “street gang member.” Police have arrested 19-year-old Giovanni Saldivar.

    At this time, it is undetermined whether or not the man is directly connected to Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan Transnational gang. However, Tren de Aragua-connected gang members have been known to be in the area.

    This marks a considerable uptick in Cicero’s murder rate. According to Crimegrade.org, Cicero has a murder rate of 0.0432 murders in 1,000. In the last year, they have seen a spike in violence.

    It’s relevant to note there have been considerable changes as Illinois’ sanctuary state status has funneled an influx of illegal immigrants to the City of Chicago. This has had a spillover effect in the suburbs.

    In February of this year, The Gateway Pundit reported that there were buses of illegals landing in train stations all over the suburbs. Terry Newsome of Behind Enemy Lines filmed illegals flashing gang signs and tattoos seemingly affiliated with the transnational criminal gang from Venezuela known as Tren de Aragua.

    Tren de Aragua has embedded itself all over the country, famously taking over apartment complexes in Colorado. In March of this year, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement reported removing a Venezuelan non-citizen with ties to Tren de Aragua from Cicero, Illinois.

    In addition to the evidence of Tren de Aragua presence in the suburb of Cicero, there is the involvement of Catholic Charities in placing illegals all over the City and State. In June of this year, The Gateway Pundit reported on FOIA findings that Catholic Charities had been colluding with the City of Chicago to place 13,000 illegals between December 2022 and February 2024.

    Another article pointed out that Catholic Charities, along with an Obama Foundation-affiliated NGO, placed over 8,900 illegals in fully furnished apartments. Interestingly enough, there is a Catholic Charities Food Distribution Center located in Cicero, Illinois.

    Other evidence of Tren de Aragua presence includes the existence of a Holiday Inn just down the street from Cicero in the Gage Park neighborhood. This location was discovered to be a facility for illegals.

    In July, The Gateway Pundit reported that Terry Newsome and Ben Bergquam confronted officials at the hotel showing they were housing illegals.

    They also located a car parking tag identifying “New Life Centers,” the Obama Foundation affiliate that had been listed in FOIA findings as a participant in placing illegals in housing.

    Many other FOIA findings from the facilities housing illegals in and around the City of Chicago found incidents of Police responding to reports of violent crime.

    Violent crimes including aggravated battery, assault, domestic abuse, burglary, robbery, criminal sexual abuse, and aggravated criminal sexual assault were found.

    Terry Newsome posted on X about the incident noting this was Al Capone’s old neighborhood, and it’s probably more violent now. He cites a reliable source has indicated that the shootings were tied to criminal Venezuelans.

    Earlier in 2024, it was apparent that the illegal immigrants had become a major problem in Chicago. Crime had increased because of lack of resources to address the influx of new residents. The introduction of cashless bail in Illinois also meant the lack of a deterrent for Illinois law enforcement to keep criminals off the street. This includes illegal immigrants. It is apparent this issue is now spilling over into the suburbs.

    Turkish-backed rebels claim to have seized a city in northern Syria from US-backed Kurdish militants.

    In a separate offensive to the one that saw rebels led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) sweep south and topple the regime of Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian National Army (SNA) said it had claimed Manbij from the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

    The loss, if confirmed, would be a significant blow for the SDF, as Manbij is its largest stronghold west of the Euphrates River. However, the SDF claimed the fighting there was still ongoing.

    The Turkish-backed SNA, an umbrella term for several disparate groups, launched its “Dawn of Freedom” offensive on Dec 1.

    The coalition said its intention was to restore security to the region, as the SDF is led militarily by the People’s Defence Units (YPG), which Turkey says is a terrorist organisation closely tied to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militant group.

    The PKK has fought a decades-long insurgency against the Turkish state, with the role of Syria’s Kurds, who govern an autonomous region in the northeast, being a contentious topic for Ankara.

    Turkey has firmly opposed any suggestion that Kurdish groups could be involved in shaping Syria’s future.

    Speaking to local media on Sunday, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey’s president, suggested that he and Vladimir Putin, Russia’s president, were now the most significant world leaders, implying he also sees his future role as vital.

    He said: “There are only two of us left among the leaders. Right now, it’s just me and Vladimir Putin.”

    The transition of power in Damascus away from Assad, and his key allies Russia and Iran, is set to reshape the balance of power in the region, with Mr Erdogan probably emerging as a major beneficiary.

    The SNA played a key role in the offensive, working alongside HTS, which began forming a new transitional Syrian government on Monday.

    Mohammed al-Bashir, a key official in HTS’s Idlib administration, was appointed as prime minister.

    Turkey’s security services are thought to have also co-ordinated with HTS, with Joe Biden, the US president, using Turkey as an intermediary to send secret messages to the group, The New York Times reported.

    Analysts believe the Turkish president did not order the offensive but stands to gain politically and economically from his current position as the most influential foreign actor in Syria, despite the volatile situation.

    Jerome Drevon, a senior analyst at the think tank Crisis Group, said: “Turkey did not expect this – It was not a plan … They would have feared that if the operation doesn’t go well, then it would result in massive bombings and more refugees coming across the border.

    Turkey has supported Arab uprisings since 2011 and, even as Western powers abandoned the Syrian opposition, it provided arms, training and refuge to opposition fighters.

    The country has weathered almost 14 years of instability across its southern border, suffering several Islamic State (IS) attacks and becoming home to the world’s largest refugee population.

    The Kurdish-led SDF is backed by the US and was key to dismantling the IS caliphate. However, its future appears uncertain as a new order is carved out in Syria.

    If the SDF were weakened, it would raise questions over the future of the IS prisons and camps it holds, including the al-Hol and Roj sites, which are home to tens of thousands of inmates.

    Although many of them are women and children, the camps’ inhabitants have links to IS either as ideologues or its victims.

    They include Shamima Begum, the British schoolgirl who travelled to Syria to join IS and was later stripped of her citizenship.
