This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. The worst in people so often presents itself before what is best in them. The same applies to community groups. A part of human nature enjoys watching others fail, because it meliorates their own shortcomings.

    It is easier to brand than to understand. Nuance takes so much more effort and maturity. Nuance deprives the black from the white.

    This clip from two years ago concludes with one minority group crying foul despite its own rank and file having more wisdom than it gives itself credit for. In fact, credit was never given. In reality its recalcitrance should be studied. Recalcitrance, when applied appropriately, may save the world.

    Black-ish, Irish-ish, German-ish, French-ish and Jewish-ish are not good enough when even a dirty pedigree matters. What the world needs now is a little more ish-lessness. This may be one of those rare points in history when it does more good than harm.

(Richard: This murder has all of the hallmarks of a targeted assassination of a successful businessman, during the 60s and 70s the Communist terrorists in Europe went after all of the rich industrialists and bankers. Everyone had their own security details and intel groups trying to stay alive, one of the things that some of them did was make regular payments to the terror groups to keep their names off the kill list.

    United Healthcare Brian Thompson was pronounced dead Wednesday morning after an apparent assassination

    United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot in the chest Wednesday morning outside the Hilton hotel in Midtown Manhattan in what is believed to be a targeted attack.

    Thompson, 50, arrived before 7 am for a conference when he was shot at multiple times by a masked man who police say was waiting for him to arrive, the New York Post reports.

    Thompson was pronounced dead at the Mt Sinai Hospital.

    No suspects are in custody, and police are looking for a white male with a cream-colored jacket, black and white sneakers, and a grey backpack.

    The shooter was not a guest at the hotel and was seen near the hotel prior to the shooting.

    Per the Post:

    When the suspect spotted Thompson, he began to fire from a distance, striking him multiple times, police sources added.

    The masked man then fled through the Ziegfeld alleyway and hopped on a bike to flee the scene.

    Thompson, who has worked with UnitedHealth for the last 20 years, took the role of CEO for UnitedHealth in 2021.

    He previously served as the company’s head of government programs, including Medicare and Retirement.

      The suspects in a Chicago, Illinois house party shooting Monday, which killed three and injured five, have been confirmed to be Venezuelan and likely illegal aliens by police sources.

      As The Gateway Pundit reported, Venezuelan Tren De Aragua gang members–the same group taking over apartment complexes, terrorizing residents, and demanding “rent” payments in Aurora, Colorado–have overrun the sanctuary city of Chicago, committing violent crime and overwhelming the Chicago police force. The Tren De Aragua gang is expanding across the country also in Texas, New York and Tennessee.

      The Gateway Pundit was the first to question the “mass shooting” narrative, noting that it was likely criminal Venezuelan illegal aliens in Gage Park where Chicago has housed illegals in facilities in the town’s facilities.

      Eight people were shot and three killed in the shooting in the 3500 block of West 59th Street in Gage Park.

      The Gun Violence Archive and leftist media outlets identify mass shootings as incidents with “a minimum of four victims shot, either injured or killed, not including any shooter who may also have been killed or injured in the incident” to inflate the number of so-called mass shootings and further their narrative.

      Chicago Police Chief of Patrol Jon Hein told reporters during a press conference Monday, “A total of eight individuals from this incident had been shot, four males, four females, Hispanic background, ages 20 to 35, three of the male subjects succumbed from their injuries involved in today.”

      This is just a few miles away from the Holliday Inn near Midway airport, where the city is known to harbor illegal aliens who were smuggled into the country. Real America’s Voice correspondent Ben Bergquam and Chicago native Terry Newsome recently exposed the NGOs using the hotel to house and transport illegal aliens in October.

      Newsome discovered that the shooting Monday was a potential “act of retaliation” from Venezuelan illegals, according to a trusted source with the Chicago Police Department. Newsome further told The Gateway Pundit Tuesday, “It supposedly was a mob/gang-like retaliation hit. The DJ at the party murdered someone in Venezuela.”

      Details on the motive of the shooting remain unconfirmed as of reporting, but it has been confirmed by Chicago police sources that there are multiple suspects who are believed to be Venezuelan.

      Additionally, two of the deceased victims have reportedly been identified as Jon Carlos Blancarcer and Hector Sajo.

      Terry Newsome released a video on Wednesday revealing what he learned from police sources on the incident. “This shooting location was right by the Gage Park illegal Venezuelan shelter, where they house Tren De Aragua,” he said.

      Newsome also notes that mobster Al Capone made the city of Chicago internationally famous after seven were shot in the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, and “100 years later, thanks to Biden, we’re going to be well known again for eight people being shot by Venezuelan gang members.

    New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, publicly rooted for Daniel Penny’s acquittal before the jury began deliberations on Tuesday.

    Mayor Adams said Penny did “what we should have done as a city” during an interview with 710 WOR’s “The Rob Astorino Show.”

    Penny is on trial for the death of Jordan Neely, a homeless man whom he subdued with a chokehold as he was having a violent outburst on the subway last May.

    Adams argued that the mental health system had failed Neely.

    “The young man, in this case, was going within our system, throughout the revolving door of our system. Now, we’re on the subway where we’re hearing someone talking about hurting people, killing people,” Adams said on the show on Saturday.

    “You have someone on that subway who was responding, doing what we should have done as a city in a state of having a mental health facility,” Adams added.

    The mayor continued, “Those passengers were afraid. I’ve been on the subway system. I know what it is as a police officer to wrestle or fight with someone. It is imperative that we look at the totality of this problem.”

    Adams said that he hopes the jury heard “all the facts” and that they will make the right decision.

    “Based on all the facts that’s laid out, a jury of his peers will make the right decision. I don’t want to prejudge that,” Adams said.

    The former police officer also noted that there was a deadly stabbing spree in Manhattan on November 18.

    “That could have easily been a case where you saw three innocent people murdered on our street two weeks ago,” Adams said. “We have to recognize we have a mental health crisis, and we’re not doing enough to solve it.”

    In a blistering rebuke, a federal judge has openly questioned the constitutionality of President Joe Biden’s recent pardon of his son, Hunter Biden, calling it an overreach of executive power aimed at rewriting history and undermining the integrity of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

    On December 1, 2024, Joe Biden issued a full and unconditional pardon to his embattled son, Hunter Biden, who faced charges of tax evasion and corruption. The pardon, however, quickly drew ire for its timing and the breadth of its language.

    Statement from Joe Biden:

    Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter. From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted.

    Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form.

    Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.

    The charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election.

    Then, a carefully negotiated plea deal, agreed to by the Department of Justice, unraveled in the court room – with a number of my political opponents in Congress taking credit for bringing political pressure on the process. Had the plea deal held, it would have been a fair, reasonable resolution of Hunter’s cases.

    No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son – and that is wrong.

    There has been an effort to break Hunter – who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me – and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough.

    For my entire career I have followed a simple principle: just tell the American people the truth. They’ll be fair-minded.

    Here’s the truth: I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice – and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further. I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision.

    Hunter Biden provided notice of the pardon through a hyperlink to a White House press release rather than a certified document. This unusual approach drew the court’s ire.

    Federal Judge Mark Scarsi, presiding over the case in the Central District of California, did not mince words in a court order issued shortly after Hunter Biden’s legal team submitted the pardon notice.

    The court’s order highlighted that the presidential statement accompanying the pardon presented a narrative conflicting with the judicial record, particularly claims that Hunter Biden was treated unfairly due to his familial ties and addiction issues, which the court found misrepresented.

    Scarsi also noted that the pardon’s presentation and its claims stand in stark contrast to the established facts of the case, including Hunter Biden’s own admissions of guilt regarding tax evasion and misuse of funds for personal expenses.

    “The President asserts that Mr. Biden “was treated differently” from others “who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions,” implying that Mr. Biden was among those individuals who untimely paid taxes due to addiction. But he is not. In his pretrial filings, Mr. Biden represented that he “was severely addicted to alcohol and drugs” “through May 2019.”

    Upon pleading guilty to the charges in this case, Mr. Biden admitted that he engaged in tax evasion after this period of addiction by wrongfully deducting as business expenses items he knew were personal expenses, including luxury clothing, escort services, and his daughter’s law school tuition.

    And Mr. Biden admitted that he “had sufficient funds available to him to pay some or all of his outstanding taxes when they were due,” but that he did not make payments toward his tax liabilities even “well after he had regained his sobriety,” instead electing to “spen[d] large sums to maintain his lifestyle” in 2020.

    The judge’s order pointed out that while the U.S. Constitution grants the president broad powers to issue pardons, it does not empower him to rewrite historical facts or the conduct for which the pardon was granted.

    The court also questioned the authenticity of the pardon document itself, noting that it was not substantiated by an appropriate declaration verifying its accuracy and legality.

    “In short, a press release is not a pardon. The Constitution provides the President with broad authority to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, but nowhere does the Constitution give the President the authority to rewrite history.

    Although Mr. Biden attached a purported copy of the pardon to a subsequent filing, the copy is not substantiated by an authenticating declaration, so the Court is left to assume it is a true and correct copy of the clemency warrant.”

    The order also criticized the executive overreach, suggesting that the pardon was used as a tool to sidestep the judicial process and protect personal interests at the expense of legal and governmental integrity.

    The court’s document asserted that such actions by the executive could set a dangerous precedent, undermining the rule of law and the separation of powers outlined in the Constitution.

    The nomination of Pete Hegseth to be President-elect Trump’s secretary of Defense got numerous boosts Wednesday morning: A statement by Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, Pete’s mother, Penelope Hegseth, appeared on Fox and Friends, and expressions of support from from many current and former Fox associates.

    Pete Hegseth told a CBS News reporter Wednesday morning he had spoken with Trump and has his continued support. Hegseth also posted a defiant message on X Twitter Wednesday morning.

    Tuesday was the most trying day for the Hegseth nomination as an anonymously sourced NBC News hit piece about supposed current and former Fox staffers accusing Hegseth of drinking or being hungover before going on air at Fox was followed by reports Trump was in talks to replace Hegseth as Defense nominee with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
