Reader’s Links for Nov. 15, 2024

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

For those interested, please check out https://vladtepesblog.substack.com/ as an another avenue of expression. The Substack is a different project in a sense. It is older videos that in the light of subsequent events, look different or of increased importance, Check it out now and again if you like.

  4. A suspected people smuggler was arrested in Amsterdam on Wednesday, accused of supplying small boats to intending illegal migrants for English Channel crossings.

The 44-year-old Turkish man was stopped at Schipol airport in the Netherlands capital in a joint arrest by Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) and Dutch and Belgian police.

NCA director general for operations Rob Jones called the arrest a milestone in one of the agency’s “most significant investigations into organised immigration crime,” the BBC reports.

  5. A couple of months ago I was talking to a loans officer at my bank. Good guy. He disclosed that this bank was trying to get out of home mortgages because of the massive default rates it saw coming. Higher interest rates were the culprit. In Canada the rate on mortgages is reset every five years.

Zooming forward I think it was last week that the Bank of Canada lowered interest rates, claiming the economy is great and inflation is contained. Of course, both statements are lies based on phony stats, but who’s counting these days. My first reaction was to think the Bank was lowering the price of money in order to help struggling Canadians with these rising mortgage costs. My second thought was no, they did this to protect the crony banks from customers’ defaults.

In the States it’s different, but not by much. Over 20 years of nearly-free money has made massive distortions in finance and the general economy. Assets are vulgarly overvalued. This is because cheap credit juiced everything while crippling the real price-discovery mechanism. If you don’t believe me look at the U.S. 10-year T-bill, which is supposed to be the final and ultimate metric for evaluating everything on the planet.

Warren Buffet is liquidating his stake in Bank of America. I understand he is its biggest investor. He’s forming a pile of cash big in enough to choke a pretty big horse. Why? Because this wily ol’ coyote will go back into the market when blood runs in the streets, picking up assets by the penny.

Yesterday I asked the question: Where is the booby trap left by the left for Trump? I think it’s the economy (stupid).

    • I think the left is trying to create three problems for Trump:

      1) Crash the economy

      2) Start a shooting war overseas that we will have to join

      3) Massive riots caused by David Perry being found not guilty of manslaughter for choking out the druggy threatening people on the subway. He is a white ex Marine who is on trial for the death of a black man who was threatening people on the subway. The trial will be over in a couple of weeks or sooner, if/when he is found not guilty the race mongers will start screaming and the riots will start. Think the Ferguson riots and the George Floyd riots.

If they succeed in one of the booby traps the world is in trouble, if they succeed in 2 we have a major problem, 3 will be a major disaster. Remember the left wants to bring destroy all of the existing nations and create a one world socialist/Marxist government.

        • I hope you have a lot of popcorn on hand, the Dems are starting to eat each other over who lost the election and why, it promises to be the best show of the Century.

  6. A cohort of 113 members of Germany’s Bundestag parliament have signed a motion calling for the Federal Constitutional Court to consider banning the right-wing populist anti-mass migration Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

With a legislative election looming in February following the collapse of the leftist-led “traffic light” coalition government last week, rival politicians appear to be growing interested in banning the AfD. If successful this censorious move would conveniently remove one of the country’s most popular parties from contention in the election.

Welt reports that 55 MPs from the Green Party, 32 members of the governing Social Democrats (SPD), 18 Left Party MPs, and seven MPs from the neoliberal Christian Democratic Union (CDU) supported the measure. Except for the CDU, the right-wing populist party has surpassed all the other parties supporting the measure and currently stands as the second-strongest party in Germany.

  7. The wife of a prominent Seattle transgender author allegedly butchered her father with an ice axe on Election Night in response to Donald Trump’s victory, referring to it as an “act of liberation.”

The alleged gruesome murder occurred shortly after it became clear on Election Night that Donald Trump had decisively beaten Kamala Harris. Upset by the results, 33-year-old Corey Burke, who also served as a training program manager at Jeff Bezos’ spacecraft company Blue Origin, allegedly then proceeded to murder her father, Timothy Burke. The altercation began over a disagreement about lighting in the house, and Corey allegedly responded by grabbing an ice axe from upstairs.

“Burke had been upset about the election and knew Trump would handily beat Vice President Kamala Harris when she allegedly snapped — apparently when her father, Timothy Burke, refused to turn off the lights,” reported the New York Post.

  11. Argentine President Javier Milei met with President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday night at a gala event in which he delivered a blistering speech against Marxism, embracing the president-elect and offering Argentina’s support on foreign policy.

Milei is the first sitting world leader to meet with Trump following his victory in the November 5 presidential election. Trump is expected to return to the White House on January 20, only the second president in American history to win two non-consecutive presidential terms. Milei has been in office since December 2023 and won the presidency of his country on a similar platform of streamlining the federal government, eliminating corruption, and realigning the nation’s foreign policy to support freedom and human rights, away from the influence of China and Iran.

  14. New York’s Body Armor Ban Challenged in Court

New York’s Anti-Constitution Attorney General, Letitia James is being reminded yet again that her job is to uphold the Constitution, not manipulate it to her liking.

In Heeter v. James, a case out of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York, Judge John Sinatra has just granted standing for a challenge to New York State’s ban on body armor. Sinatra decided that the challenge could proceed.

Somewhere along the line, Democrat politicians in New York State, have not only decided that they don’t want the good people of New York to be able to defend themselves with a gun, they’ve also decided that they should be completely vulnerable by declaring a ban on body armor. As you can imagine, New York residents have decided they must and will do everything they can to protect themselves from the criminal element that Governor Hochul and Attorney General Letitia James have been putting back on the streets through early release, bail reform, and relaxed sentences. Creating a victim/predator society in the state of New York seems to have been a top priority, especially since Kathy Hochul was appointed the position of Governor by the disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Judge Sinatra seems to recognize the destructive nature of the New York State Legislature and has given the Plaintiffs, in this case, an opportunity to challenge the State on this ridiculous body armor ban, which appears to be nothing more than an exercise of power by a very angry and over-zealous gun-grabbing Attorney General. As clearly defined in the Second Amendment, American Citizens have the right to ‘keep and bear arms.’ Precedent from the 2008 Heller case includes body armor as ‘arms’ because it can be used defensively.

Justice Scalia’s majority opinion in the Heller case stated, “Before addressing the verbs ‘keep and bear,’ we interpret their object: ‘Arms.’ The 18th-century meaning is no different from the meaning today. The 1773 edition of Samuel Johnson’s dictionary defined ‘arms’ as ‘weapons of offense, or armour of defense.”

Judge Sinatra found that the Plaintiffs do, in fact, have ‘standing’ and denied Letitia James’ motion to dismiss the case. The case can move forward, and the Plaintiffs can sue to stop this unconstitutional body armor ban.

Brandon Combs from Firearms Policy Coalition [FPC] said, “New York’s body armor ban shows that the State’s commitment to authoritarianism has collapsed into absurdity, making it a crime to buy and use simple personal protective equipment.” Combs went on to say, “New York laws have gone so far off the deep end that it would surprise exactly no one if Governor Hochul and her goons banned safety glasses next. FPC looks forward to eliminating this unconstitutional law and teaching New York another lesson about constitutional protected rights.”

On November 8, 2024 Judge John Sinatra stated the following in his opinion, “Here, Plaintiffs have demonstrated injury-in-fact. They allege ‘an intention to engage in a course of conduct,’ arguably protected by the Second Amendment but proscribed by New York law. Specifically, [plaintiffs] intend to exercise [their] right to keep and bear body armor for lawful purposes. And because of the challenged restrictions, they are ‘unable to purchase body armor in New York.’ Plaintiffs also allege a ‘credible threat’ of future enforcement. Specifically, they allege that the Attorney General is responsible for enforcing New York’s restrictions on the sale of body armor imposed by New York law.”

Attorney General Leticia James announced that this ban on body armor, among other restrictions, was put in place due to her commitment to keep people safe from the so-called “gun violence epidemic.”

James may not only be acting on political motivation, but her sense of logic appears to be in a serious state of decline with respect to this issue. She seems to believe that removing the ability of people to protect themselves from gunshots by using protective armor will somehow make them safer. If one of New York’s unnecessarily released criminals were to shoot someone, most people would agree that body armor could be the very thing that would save the life of the victim. We have yet to hear James explain how removing this defensive device from public use would be the safer option.

James also announced that “the time for thoughts and prayers alone has long passed,” and she urged other states to follow suit.

Judge Sinatra appears to understand that the use and possession of body armor is a fundamental Constitutional right. We will see how this case plays out.
