Reader’s Links for June 28th, 2024

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. To be sure, navigating the dark depths of collectivist rhetoric is not what these two guys are into. Yet this is a very worthwhile interview between financial observers as they expand into everything we see going on. At 40 minutes in they have not bogged down into financial minutiae.

For non-financially inclined minds it offers a great glimpse into that side of things and what we have in store for us. And this part is not conjecture because of the math involved.

  2. Further to my skunk dispatch yesterday morning, I confronted the mother this morning. The encounter did not go quite as I had planned. I attribute her reaction to years, even generations of exploitation under the patriarchy.

Our conversation began with my empathizing to her plight as a minority single mother. She stared at me without any ostensible emotion, yet I sensed my words were getting through. Perhaps a certain twinkle in her eye reflected the sympathetic light I was trying to shine on her. I then went on at length about how I thought black lives truly did matter, and about how, if she was willing, I thought I could represent a good role model for her children.

Her retort was quick and rather violent, for barely had I finished speaking but did she bellow with her head noogling from side to side in utter disdain, “I am a proud, single black woman who don’t need no man!” She then spun around lightning quick to display to me her generous rear end, and then with admirable rectilinear aim and precision proceeded to blast me directly in the face with her anal RPG.

I hold no hard feelings towards this member of our marginalized community, and hope to reach out to her some time in the future once my vision returns.

    • Johnny, I hope you are kidding, but you must realize Canada is now a dangerous place — people who are being paid by Soros are now out on the streets using bear spray to attack.

In Mississauga, a man who discovered some home grown ISIS members were running a business near Pearson Airport that doubled as a mosque and dawa center, was sprayed with bullets, leaving one dead, one shot in neck and one shot in chest.

SPRAY is the word of the day

I do so hope you are kidding, my sister’s dog had a run in with a skunk, we called him in to the back porch, it was too late, the house reaked for weeks. Our eyes felt like fire.

Be careful out there dear Johnny.

  3. USA Watchdog on THE DEBATE. Haven’t watched more than five minutes but he always does a pretty good job summarizing the week. The wheels really do feel like they’re coming off this bus. Which bus? The bus we are all in while the perpetual motion invention of Hegelian/Marxist dialectics that has no friggin’ kill switch grinds on invisible to 99% of the population. The bus that has placed literally millions of people in harm’s way by the covid injections, and even those like the few good doctors who tried to help are being tried and convicted by bogus kangaroo courts. The bus in which every night we go to sleep we wake up the next morning with fractionally diminished purchasing power of the little money we have and that we think is safe.

    • I agree with the people who say the debate was held early to determine if Biden was still capable of being a puppet for Obama, his performance showed that he isn’t (never has been). It is now obvious to all with two working brain cells and are willing to think that someone (either Obama or a cabal of bureaucrats) has been telling Biden what to do and say.

This approach worked for a while and has given the left many opportunities to advance their agenda, the problem is that who ever is pulling Biden’s strings has moved way too fast and has driven the US population to the point they are being forced to pay attention to politics and realize that the Democrat Party no long represents any rational portion of the US population. Their Stalinist approach to political enemies has scared a lot of people, they are now thinking that if they can do this to a former President what can they do to the people who don’t billions of dollars to fight with. The answer to this question is anything they want that the majority of the people will hold still for. The debate has made it clear that Biden has never been in charge and will never be in charge the people are demanding a President that represents them, the Dems are now searching for someone that they can run that has enough popularity to make a steal even bigger then the 2020 steal seem plausible. This problem is aggravated by the Dems long history of identity politics, they have a woman of color (their term) as VP, she is even more unpopular then Biden and will have to be replaced but to avoid and even worse disaster it will have to be another Woman of Color.

Welcome to their nightmare, they have painted themselves into a very nasty corner and are now faced with the fact they have no one on the bench who is popular enough to successfully run as Biden’s substitute. I can’t think of any situation more likely to cause the Dems to resort to violence, brace for riots, looting and many more murders, rapes etc.

Stolen Elections Have Horrible Consequences ~ Tips for Surviving Biden
Ammoland Inc. Posted on June 28, 2024 by Lee Williams

Joe Biden has done more damage to this country than any president in American history.

We are embroiled in conflicts and proxy wars around the world. Other nations no longer respect us. Our once-great economy is in shambles. Millions of undocumented and unvetted immigrants illegally cross our borders. Trust and confidence in government is at an all-time low, and violent crime is skyrocketing. Meanwhile, Biden, his handlers, and the gun-ban industry are inching closer toward their ultimate goal of total civilian disarmament.
There is a growing sense of unease in the country. For many, our nearly 250-year-old Republic seems to be teetering toward disaster.
Long story short, we are not safe, and Biden’s policies are making us less safe.
One thing is certain: Even if Biden loses his reelection bid, it will take years to undo the damage he has caused. We will be living with the threats Biden has created long after he has shuffled back to his beach chair in Delaware.
    Recognize the Threat
American War Weapons Lost in Afghanistan

Never before have Americans faced the variety of threats we see now. We could be incinerated in a flash because our enemies possess nuclear weapons, from ICBMs to small, portable tactical nukes. Iran has moved closer to achieving a nuclear weapon under Biden than ever before.
The millions of illegal aliens that Biden has allowed across our borders include gang members, cartel gunmen and actual terrorists who are members of international terrorist groups such as ISIS-K, the jihadist group now active in Afghanistan and Pakistan, which now has access to 176 artillery pieces, 64,363 belt-fed machine guns, 126,295 handguns and of course 358,530 select-fire assault rifles – real assault weapons – that were left behind during Biden’s hasty and ill-conceived retreat.
No one within the Administration has ever commented on the more than two divisions of Chinese military-age males who infiltrated our country unabated. Their marching orders and ultimate goals are known only to Chinese Communist Party leaders in Beijing.

Taking a page from Fidel Castro’s playbook, Venezuela President Nicolás Maduro emptied his prisons and asylums and pointed his inmates north. Americans are being raped and murdered solely because the Biden-Harris administration allowed these monsters into the country. None were vetted, as the administration falsely claimed, because, of course, we cannot background check anyone from Venezuela. Their government does not accept queries from ICE.
Even our finest warfighters are worried.
“We are gravely concerned by the current heightened risk of terrorist attacks against targets inside the United States and both U.S. and allied interests abroad. Our complete withdrawal from Afghanistan, without a viable stay-behind or over-the-horizon counterterrorism and intelligence capability to suppress threats, has created a vacuum in the region in which anti-American terrorist groups, such as al-Qaeda and the Islamic State, are flourishing once again,” the Special Operation Association of America, which represents thousands of Army Rangers and Green Berets, Navy SEALs, Marine Raiders, Air Force Air Commandos, and other special operators, wrote in a recent statement.
Trust and confidence in government is at an all-time low. Our military is struggling to recruit, and most law enforcement agencies cannot find, much less hire, qualified applicants. As a result, violent crime is skyrocketing, which Biden strenuously denies. He points to juked stats and faulty data as proof, but Americans know the truth. They see it with their own eyes.
Many Americans now realize no one is coming to help. They are their own First Responders, which explains why gun sales remain strong.
    Stay informed
It is not easy to track events within our borders or worldwide, but it is vital. Any intelligence, much less accurate threat analysis, is necessary but difficult to obtain. The corporate media has proven time and time again that they cannot be trusted to speak the truth. They haven’t even connected the dots on the spate of illegal aliens who are committing rapes and murders nationwide, and they refuse to tie this growing crime trend to the Biden-Harris administration.

That could harm Biden’s reelection chances – which they will never do. Trust the legacy media at your own peril.
The Annual Threat Assessment, or ATA, used to be a must-read document. It is the Intelligence Community’s yearly report and analysis of worldwide threats to our national security, an “unclassified summary of the Intelligence Community’s evaluation of current threats to U.S. national security, including cyber and technological threats, terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, crime, environmental and natural resources issues, and economic issues.” Unfortunately, since Biden took office, the intelligence contained in the ATA appears to have been watered down.
There are websites like AmmoLand News and individuals who speak the truth, despite attempts by the Administration to marginalize them as a fringe group and censor them online. Seek these sites out before they’re shadow-banned or completely silenced.
A good example is HeyJackass!, which tracks shootings, murders, and other crimes in the Chicago area and is a must-read for anyone headed to the Windy City. Since Jan. 1, according to the website, 242 people have been shot and killed, and 1,161 have been shot and wounded.
Another intel source is the Crime Prevention Research Center, which is operated by Dr. John R. Lott, Jr. Any crime data from the CPRC or vetted by Dr. Lott can be trusted.
    Seek competent instruction
Take a basic pistol course if you don’t know how to operate a handgun. If you want to carry a concealed firearm, take a concealed-carry class. But if you want to learn how to defend yourself and your family against real threats, you should seek competent instruction from experienced people who specialize in such training.
Fortunately, we live in the Golden Age of firearm instruction. The Global War on Terror produced hundreds of extremely qualified tactical instructors who don’t teach from a textbook or bother with certificates or certifications. They’re too busy teaching their students how to win gunfights. Delta veteran Bob Keller was one of the first to offer his real-world training and experience to students.
A Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) certification is a good place to learn how to control a bleed. TCCC was designed by the Department of Defense for forces deploying overseas. There are three tiers. Tier 1 can be taught in just eight hours. The D-Dey Response Group teaches TCCC and other tac-med courses, and their instructors are all former Special Forces medics (18-Deltas) with real-world experience.

    Protect the Second Amendment
The Second Amendment is constantly under attack and must be protected. Its 27 words prevent our republic from becoming a dictatorship, and there is a direct correlation between it and your personal safety and security.
No president in American history has done more to damage and circumvent the Second Amendment than Joe Biden. Curiously, no one from the corporate media has ever bothered to ask him why he wants all of us disarmed.
Biden and his handlers created a taxpayer-funded office inside the White House, which is specifically designed to infringe upon our Second Amendment rights. Not only does the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention create national gun-control policy, such as the Surgeon General’s deranged declaration that “gun violence” somehow constitutes a public health crisis, the office serves as a clearinghouse of sorts, and pushes its unconstitutional gun-control schemes out to the states.
If we lose the Second Amendment, or if Biden is able to weaken it further, our other rights, especially the First Amendment, will be immediately vulnerable.
    Prepare for the Worst
FEMA recommends Americans should stockpile enough nonperishable food items to last “several days” in the event of an emergency or natural disaster. The agency also recommends whistles, dust masks and moist towelettes. Somehow, arms and ammunition didn’t make the list.
The truth is, we all know what we need to survive: Food, potable water, water purification equipment, First Aid supplies, communications systems, and, in the worst-case scenario, arms and ammunition.
I would add one item to the list: Body armor, preferably NIJ Level IV (now known as NIJ RF3) plates capable of stopping rifle rounds.

    Mindset
This country has survived a Civil War, two World Wars, and the Great Depression. We can make it through anything as long as we remain vigilant and zealously safeguard our personal security and our constitutional rights.
Hope for the best, plan for the worst, and remember: We’ve gotten this far because we’re resilient, and even with our faults and internal disagreements, this place we call home is far better than anywhere else.

  6. ATF Rules in Trouble After SCOTUS Strikes Down Chevron Doctrine
    By Cam Edwards | 11:29 AM | June 28, 2024

The Supreme Court may not have delivered the opinion that gun owners were hoping for in the Rahimi case, but on Friday the justices gave Second Amendment advocates new ammunition to use in their fights against the ATF’s rulemaking abuses by overturning the Chevron Doctrine.

In Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, et al, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for the 6-3 majority that the doctrine, which requires courts to defer to federal agencies so long as they offered “a permissible construction” of a challenged statute even if it was not “the reading the court would have reached if the question initially had arisen in a judicial proceeding,” is no longer operative.

Instead, the majority held that “The Administrative Procedure Act requires courts to exercise their independent judgment in deciding whether an agency has acted within its statutory authority, and courts may not defer to an agency interpretation of the law simply because a statute is ambiguous.”

That’s very good news for the folks who are challenging the ATF’s rules on unfinished frames and receivers, pistol stabilizing braces, and who is “engaged in the business” of dealing firearms.

FPC submitted an amicus brief in Lopez Bright arguing that the Chevron Doctrine was a violation of the separation of powers inherent in the Constitution, while the National Shooting Sports Foundation filed a brief of its own pointing out that agencies like the ATF have relied on Chevron “to support changing interpretations of laws affecting Second Amendment rights.”

ATF often expects Chevron deference in litigation, which is extraordinary given that the right to keep and bear arms is a fundamental constitutional right. Such enumerated rights are “[p]remised on mistrust of governmental power.” Given that Second Amendment rights can be exercised only if individuals can lawfully obtain a firearm, it is astounding that the government would request or receive deference on laws regulating the exercise of such rights. But that is precisely what happens frequently with Chevron regarding federal firearms laws, often at the request of ATF.

… Chevron’s outsized influence is witnessed when ATF interprets other federal gun-control provisions. Even when adjudicating immigration cases, some courts afford deference to ATF’s interpretation of who qualifies as an illegal alien under 18 U.S.C.§ 922(g)(5)(A), even though ATF has no expertise in immigration matters. On occasion, other federal agencies will receive the same deference under Chevron that ATF typically enjoys, such as the Board of Immigration Appeals regarding whether an alien here on a student visa falsified information when filling out a Form 4473to purchase a firearm.

The NSSF brief specifically points to the ATF’s reclassification of bump stocks as machine guns, as well as its reversal on stabilizing braces, which the agency allowed for years before suddenly determining that brace-equipped pistols can be treated as short-barreled rifles subject to National Firearms Act restrictions.

A cottage industry consequently developed over almost a decade in full view of ATF. Then after two instances of the accessory being criminally misused, ATF reversed its interpretation, saying the accessory henceforth makes the pistol a rifle (or short barreled rifle). Once again, nothing but the politics changed.

The implications for companies and consumers aresignificant. A consistent statutory interpretation allows a company to design new business lines based on an understanding of what is permitted by the applicable statute. That includes hiring personnel, purchasing property, designing equipment, and many other activities. The markets for bump stocks and stabilizing arm braces are examples of an industry relying on previous guidance from an agency with regulatory authority over the industry, producing and selling products the agency had determined was legal, then suddenly that same regulator pulls the rug out from under the industry.

The demise of Chevron deference doesn’t guarantee that the ATF rules promulgated under Joe Biden’s watch will be struck down by the Supreme Court, but it does mean that the ATF can’t hide behind the doctrine in the future.

With SCOTUS set to hear Vanderstok v. Garland’s challenge to the agency’s rules on unfinished frames and receivers this fall, today’s decision could soon help to curb the ATF’s abuses of the Administrative Procedures Act and put the onus back on Congress to legislate these issues instead of essentially allowing the agency to create new law.
