Facebook deletes speech by Viktor Orbán warning of impending war

Social media giant Facebook deleted a video on Sunday of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s speech at the June 1 Peace March, published on its site by state television channel M1, the TV station said in a news release.

This video.

I think it is important that we all know why.

For those who haven’t seen it, here is an Orbán interview from a few days ago for Hungarian TV subtitled in English, with a synopsis at RAIR.

  1. Hell of a speech. Deserves two watches. He has asked and has received no good answer for this push for this war. One of the best synopsis is Viva Frei from a couple of days ago on this site.

  2. It’s old school stuff that I, myself, have suffered from at the hands of my own Hungarian family–those who were members of the Party. A line of effort to discredit and individual will be launched when the stakes matter.

  3. They’ve[*] practiced character assassination on Bibi for decades. I can’t remember the early tags: defamation morphs rapidly as extreme terms empty. Grunts and groans, no longer words.

    Authoritarian, populist, sexist, blah-blah, woof-woof.
Karl Rove and David Axelrod deserve Olympic medals for dialectical prowess.

There’s a formula, a ritual used for all targets everywhere: Brazil, Hungary, Israel, Nigeria, Japan…. A sacred Goebbels-Alinsky process.

They borrow terms they find cute without realizing the derivations. So malaprops can be lols.

Media engineers started using the acronym “BDS” – Bibi-Derangement-Syndrome, in context directly with the anti-Israel Boycott-Divest-Sanctions weapon. Then they started using “TDS” for PTrump – imitation being the highest praise.
    …………
    [*]Who are they ??

  5. Hungary is a small nation (as Viktor Orban has often said) fighting against great odds. Let’s hope it’s another David and Goliath story.
