Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. The inside story of how House Speaker Mike Johnson was flip-flopped on Ukraine aid starts with his top policy adviser, a former lobbyist whose clients include a number of major companies who have issued corporate statements indicating some kind of interest in the war.

    Johnson’s policy director, Dan Ziegler, was–until he joined the Speaker’s office as his top policy aide when Johnson won the Speakership last year–a lobbyist with the firm Williams & Jensen. He had previously worked for Johnson in other capacities, but left Johnson to become a lobbyist and accumulated a client list that included several top companies–some of which seem to have a financial interest in seeing Congress pass Ukraine aid. The lobbying firm for which he worked represents a number of top companies. Lobbying disclosures reveal Ziegler represented many of these companies, including several that have made corporate statements about the war in Ukraine or issued press statements or other public guidance saying it could affect their business operations.

  3. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) blessed Rep. Thomas Massie’s (R-KY) move to oust Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), saying that House Republicans need someone with “courage” and “intestinal fortitude.”

    The Kentucky senator said:

    I think Thomas Massie is doing the right thing, and I think that Republicans need real leadership. We need to use our power; our people are frustrated. Why don’t we use the power of the purse? Why does the debt keep getting bigger even when Republicans are in charge of the House? So, I think we need somebody that has some courage and some intestinal fortitude.

  5. Here the smartest men in many rooms assemble to give their opinions of precious metals, markets, sovereign debt and so on. It is 11/2 hrs long.

    Chinese buying drives gold, the shunning of long-term U.S. debt in the last couple of months has developed into another driver, and all agree that silver needs to find something akin to its historical ratio to gold. We are in a time of world economic transition with wild cards being war and other geopolitical events that can redraw maps. None of this is new to followers, but these guys lay the numbers out which makes them convincing. Gromen bases his gold future price on the stated tonnage of U.S. Au reserves collateralized against U.S. debt, which puts the price per ounce at minimum $8,000. Improperly (conservative compared to the 20:1 historical avg.) ratioed at 40:1 places Ag at $200/oz. No speaker disagrees with this except Gromen, himself, who prefers the higher end of value discovery north of $20k.

    A potential juror in former President Donald Trump’s Stormy Daniels ‘hush money’ trial was excused from service after she admitted to concerns about her impartiality upon being officially sworn in by Judge Juan Merchan.

    In a recent development inside the New York courtroom, a young nurse, one of the seven jurors who had been preliminarily selected to serve on the jury as of Tuesday, expressed her inability to remain unbiased, Time Magazine reported.

    Her concerns were brought to light following inquiries from her friends and family who suspected her role as a juror based on media reports.

    “Yesterday alone, I had friends and family push things to me,” she revealed to the court. Expressing a stark acknowledgment of her compromised position, she stated, “I don’t think at this point that I can be fair and unbiased.”

    As it stands, liberal Arizona voting laws have paved the way for non-citizens, whether they are legal or not, to register for and cast a ballot in the 2024 presidential election.

    The Gateway Pundit spoke to retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant Nick Kupper, who is one of several state legislature candidates vying for a seat in the Arizona House of Representatives’ District 25. While the voting laws do not affect his run for office, he is gravely concerned about the upcoming presidential race.

    “In Arizona,” Kupper said, “even if the state can’t verify whether you’re a citizen, people can still assert that they are citizens.” While these individuals are not allowed to vote in Arizona elections, they can still vote in the federal election. “They can still vote for the president,” he explained.

    In an April 16 post on X, Kupper pointed out that “In 2020 Biden got 73% of the federal only votes & Trump lost AZ by 10K votes. There are now over 32K federal only voters in AZ which would give Biden 15K more votes than Trump in 2024.”

    An unpublished op-ed by Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer discovered through a public records request reveals that he believes the First Amendment is “the biggest threat to elections and Democracy,” Americans ‘ opinions are “disturbing,” and that “it may be time to revisit our First Amendment jurisprudence.”

    The election official in Arizona’s largest county also refers to his constituents and Trump supporters who know that Joe Biden didn’t legitimately win 81 million votes as “gullible,” “crazies,” and “idiots.” He even suggests that suing citizens for defamation would be a remedy to his problems if it weren’t for the First Amendment.

    Jack Butler, editor of The National Review, rejected the drafted op-ed, citing Richer’s attack on freedom of speech.

    However, days earlier, Richer apparently gave a similarly written speech, ironically in commemoration of Constitution Day, to students of the Maricopa County Community College District, which was approved by the district beforehand.

    In September of 2022, a Gun Owners of America (GOA) lawyer provided documents to AmmoLand News showing the FBI targeting so-called “militant violent extremists” (MVEs) by referencing symbols such as the Betsy Ross flag and a symbol of a minute man. This leak led GOA to file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for documents.

    The FBI initially refused to turn over any documents to the gun rights group, leading GOA to file a lawsuit against the FBI demanding that the Bureau turn over the documents. Instead of the court issuing an order compelling the government to release the documents, the FBI relented and gave them up.

    Since we initially broke the story, GOA has furnished AmmoLand News with an exclusive look at the documents. The new documents show that the FBI’s targeting of certain groups is not limited to the Three Percenters and Oath Keepers. The FBI is also targeting other groups. Some threats seem credible, while other threats seem like the government is reaching. AmmoLand News will be running a series of articles about what is in the documents. This series will shed light on what the FBI believes to be threats to the homeland.
    The first set of documents is the FBI addressing what it calls “racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists” (RMVEs) and Islamist extremists. This document covers these two ideologies working together for a shared goal. That goal is to bring about the collapse of Western democracies.

    The FBI defines RMVEs as “those that advocate for the superiority of the White race.” The document claims that Islamic “Foreign Terrorist Organizations” (FTOs) are likely discouraged from working with RMVEs due to distrust, but the FBI claims that some RMVEs are sympathetic to Islamists and want to pursue alliances with these groups. It seems like the FBI thinks these groups believe in the “enemy of my enemy is my friend” strategy. The FBI states that both RMVEs and FTOs are brought together by their anti-Semitism and their opposition to liberal Western democracy.

    According to the FBI, both groups believe in an “international Jewish conspiracy to control government, international finance, and the media. Islamic extremist believes there is a conspiracy among Jews to promote Zionist imperialism. They view Western countries as part of a “Zionist-crusader alliance.” Whereas RMVEs believe that Jews are complicit in White genocide.

    The FBI claims that both groups are concerned with social values being pushed by liberal Western democracies. These values include globalism, multiculturalism, and feminism. Both groups view these values as “corrosive” to society. The Islamic extremists seek to “replicate the legal traditions and customs during the time of the Prophet Mohammed.” RMVEs view these values as compromising the integrity of the White race. The FBI claims that RMVEs have sought an alliance with Islamic extremists to speed up the collapse of Western society through violence.

    The FBI is also concerned about “ideology hoppers.” Ideology hoppers are based on the concept of “ideology mixers.” These are US-based people that “adopt aspects of, or switch between, FTO-inspired violent extremist and RMVE ideologies.” The FBI does not consider these moves to be a true ideological conversion. The FBI believes that these conversions outnumber actual conversions. The FBI is also worried about these groups sharing tactical strategies. Suicide terrorism is mentioned in the documents.

    A recent video out of Tucson, Ari., shows us the right way to respond to a man threatening you with a sword. But, if you’ve never thought too much about how you’d respond to such a thing, it’s worth taking a few seconds to mentally run through that scenario, because misconceptions about blades and guns are all over the map in society.

    But first, let’s look at the video:

    Obviously, this guy isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, and his connection with reality wasn’t very solid. He decided to do some emotionally intense sword practice in a hotel parking lot, screaming and waving his sword around, probably not unlike the Star Wars Kid. When hotel management told him to stop, he ignored them. So, the sheriff’s department had to come out there to let him know that he couldn’t keep doing that.

    When deputies arrived, he refused to put the sword away (which he had sheathed by then). Why? Because he was “trying to achieve greatness with the katana”. Then, of course, he had to ask the rhetorical question of whether katana practice is allowed in the United States. That’s an obvious “yes”, but it’s generally not tolerated in a parking lot. Instead of seeing that maybe he should have gone out to some forest or BLM land, he kept arguing the issue with deputies, telling them he’s “hella responsible”.

    He then tried to explain that he’s related to a Greek god, and that if anyone wants to kill him, he’s going to be hard to kill. Then, he drew the sword and advanced on deputies with predictable results.

    While the guy’s idiocy is pretty funny, you do have to feel bad for the guy because it ended up costing him his life. But, it doesn’t help you much if you find yourself explaining your empathy for the guy’s mental shortcomings if you’re doing that explaining at the pearly gates (or whatever you think you’d find after getting killed).

    The fact is, a sword or even a knife can be more deadly than getting shot by a gun. Worse, it takes 1-2 seconds to draw a pistol from its holster and fire it (the above video is a fancy version of the Tueller Drill), allowing a person with a blade to inflict a fatal injury on you before you can draw. So, the police were right both to back away and increase the distance, draw and fire on him as soon as he advanced on them. There’s just no spare time to “shoot it out of his hand” or “shoot him in the leg” (things idiots think police should do in such situations).

    So, if you ever see someone acting crazy with a knife or a sword, don’t get too close. In fact, leave if you’re not being paid to deal with the guy. Such a confrontation can cost you everything. But, if you have to deal with such a person, don’t assume that you’re invincible because you have a gun, because the distance you can shoot from can disappear quick when someone’s running toward you.

    A state official in Ohio has rejected Democrats’ illegal plan to sneak Joe Biden’s name onto the 2024 presidential ballot.

    A lawyer for the leftist party had wanted the state of accept a “provisional” certification of Biden, and Kamala Harris, as candidates, but Attorney General Dave Yost’s office found the move “simply is not provided for by law.”

    “Instead, the law mandates the Democratic Party to actually certify its president and vice-president candidates on or before August 7, 2024. No alternative process is permitted,” the statement said.

    The problem is that Democrats, focused for the last few years on trying to exclude President Donald Trump from the 2024 ballot, overlooked state requirements for certification. Their convention, to officially name Biden as the candidate, doesn’t happen until the end of August.

    After the deadlines in Ohio and Alabama will have passed by the time their decision is made.

    The Ohio state decision said, “Thus, the secretary of state lacks authority to accept ‘provisional certifications’ from the Democratic Party pursuant to [the law]. The Democratic Party must actually certify its presidential candidates on or before August 7, 2024 to be placed on the 2024 general election ballot.”

    The state earlier had offered two solutions to the Democrats. One is that the state legislature could change the law, the other is that the Democrats could reschedule their convention for earlier.

    A report from Fox News described the Democrat plan as trying to “skirt” the law.

    The report said documents show correspondence between Yost and Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose as well as lawyer Donald McTigue, representing Democrats.

    McTigue claimed that the state had the authority to take a “provisional certification” to accommodate the Democrats.

    The AG shot down the idea.

    “The Democratic Party’s notion of providing a ‘provisional certification’ by the statutory deadline simply is not provided for by law,” Yost’s office said. “Instead, the law mandates the Democratic Party to actually certify its president and vice-president candidates on or before August 7, 2024. No alternative process is permitted.”

    Biden’s campaign continued to confirm he will be on the ballot in “all 50 states.”

    Officials in Alabama also have warned Biden of similar circumstances there.

    Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen said the law requires the nominations by Aug. 15.

    “It has recently come to my attention that the Democratic National Convention is currently scheduled to convene on August 19, 2024, which is after the State of Alabama’s statutory deadline for political parties to provide a certificate of nomination for President and Vice President on August 15, 2024,” officials there told Democrats. “The certificate of nomination must be signed by the presiding officer and secretary of the convention and by the chair of the state executive committee of the political party making the nomination.”

    The American Center for Law and Justice, which has fought on behalf of election integrity and ballot fairness, pointedly noted, “Remember when the far Left tried to disqualify President Donald Trump from state primary ballots? The ACLJ won at the U.S. Supreme Court to protect your right to vote for the candidate of your choice.”

    In fact, Democrats across America have spent months and likely uncounted dollars trying to get President Donald Trump banned from the 2024 presidential ballot.

    They’ve pushed the “insurrectionist” talking point over the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol, ever since those events happened.

    They’ve worked at the state level, in Colorado, to obtain a ruling from an all-Democrat state Supreme Court that his name shouldn’t appear. Two other states followed Colorado’s agenda, but that agenda was stopped in its tracks by the U.S. Supreme Court.

    Democrats even have assembled a long list of questionable claims against Trump – in court – to try to make sure Americans are not allowed to check his name on the ballot in November.

    This is Biden’s last day in Pennsylvania this week before he returns to the White House.

    So far, Biden’s stops in Scranton and Pittsburgh have been total disasters.
