I was in a collectibles shop yesterday looking for a gold chain. While waiting my turn I listened to the shop owner speaking with a couple. They leaned over the glass case, studying the coins inside. The man was about sixty with no accent. The woman of similar age had a thick Russian accent.
“Do you think they will continue to go up?” the man asked the keeper referring to precious metals.
“Yes,” he replied, “they will go up in a zig-zag.” The keeper drew a crooked line in the air with his finger.
“In the USSR we kept the coins for the same reason,” said the woman.
The shopkeeper went on to try to explain the market, but he was not well equipped to do so. It was his wife who owned the pants, and the business, but she wasn’t there. The couple turned towards the door to leave. They were uncertain whether they should spend their money on expensive little silver coins. Gold was zooming out of reach for the common folk.
I stood behind them thinking they were the everyman. They had much to catch up on. Suddenly they felt something was changing in society, and more particularly with their money and savings. With inflation now visceral they were reaching out into what felt to them like the murky world of hard money, not understanding it all yet, but knowing intuitively that it was important.
“The more chaotic the world gets with war and inflation and everything else,” the keeper added, “the more gold and silver go up.”
As the couple went to the exit the man looked at me, his face a question mark. “Just remember,” I said to him, “the metals aren’t going up. Your currency is going down.” The Russian woman left with her question mark.
I thought to myself all this talk about silver losing capacity as a monetary metal, because of increased industrial demand, was to be proven false. In fact it would respond as hard money with even greater volatility now that its financial space was being infringed upon.
Money money money. Who does not understand what money is? Who abuses the savings of the people? Who enslaves the common man by stealing his taxes?

A recent research paper by four noted economists, including Larry Summers, the former Treasury Secretary under Barack Obama and former Harvard President, discovered that the real inflation rate during the Biden years, using pre-1983 calculations reached 18% in 2022.
The number is the highest inflation rate the country has seen in over 50 years.
This research project was published by these four authors at the nonpartisan National Bureau of Economic Research in late February and is just now making waves.
Marijn A. Bolhuis is an economist in the Macro Policy division of the International Monetary Fund’s Strategy, Policy, and Review (SPR) Department.
Judd Cramer is a Harvard Economist.
Karl Oskar Schulz a Harvard undergrad whose analysis found that the higher cost of borrowing is linked to persistent consumer gloom.
Larry Summers is a former Harvard President and Barack Obama’s Secretary of the Treasury. Larry worked as the chief economist of the World Bank from 1991 to 1993.
The researchers also found that if the pre-1983 calculations for the Consumer Price Index (CPI) or inflation rate has not come back down under 7 percent since its peak in 2022.

Blue City Plans To Defund Its Police Force To Pay For Illegal Immigrants
The Democratic-run city of Denver, Colorado, plans to defund its police department to pay for illegal immigrants.
Denver, which is commonly referred to as a “sanctuary city,” announced on Wednesday that it will spend $89.9 million on services for incoming illegal migrants, pulling some of the funding from roughly $45 million in public programs and services. Denver’s police department will be hit with an $8.4 million reduction — about 1.9% of its total operating budget, the city confirmed to the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Denver became the top destination per capita for incoming migrants in 2023, having had more than 40,000 arrive that year alone — putting the total migrant population at roughly 710,000, according to NBC News. Denver already spent over $42 million in 2023 in housing and medical services for migrants and plans to spend over $100 million on similar costs in 2024.
The fire department will also suffer a $2.5 million reduction, or about 0.8% of its total operating costs, the city told the DCNF. Half of those reductions will also come from vacant positions.

Memphis Police officers responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle this morning at around 2 AM. Two teenage boys were found at the scene of the alleged crime and became engaged in a shootout with the police officers. One of the teens, 18-year-old Yaylen Loble, was recently caught inside a stolen vehicle by police officers with an illegally modified firearm that could be used as a machine gun. He was arrested and released without bond in March.
The teen thugs murdered one Memphis Police Officer, while two more officers have been hospitalized.
In a public statement only moments ago, Interim Memphis Police Chief C.J. Davis identified the Memphis Police Officer as Joseph McKinney. According to Interim Chief Davis, Officer McKinney joined the department in 2020.
Jaylen Loble, the 18-year-old suspect, is dead; the second suspect, a 17-year-old male, has been apprehended and remains in the hospital.

UCLA medical school’s psychiatry department hosted a talk earlier this month that glorified self-immolation as a form of “revolutionary suicide,” raising concerns from prominent doctors and deepening a public relations crisis that has embroiled the elite medical school.
The talk, “Depathologizing Resistance,” was delivered on April 2 by two psychiatry residents at UCLA, Drs. Ragda Izar and Afaf Moustafa, under the auspices of the department’s diversity office and UCLA’s Health Ethics Center, according to slides and emails obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.
The remarks centered on the suicide of Aaron Bushnell, the U.S. serviceman who set himself on fire in February to protest U.S. support for Israel—or, as Izar put it, “indigenous Palestine.”
Bushnell had shown signs of mental distress before he died, according to a police report, and was widely seen as a casualty of mental illness. The presentation argued he could also be considered a “martyr,” a man in full control of his mental faculties who had responded rationally to a “genocide” unfolding thousands of miles away

“It’s the administration’s latest effort to combat the scourge of gun violence across the country,” a Thursday Associated Press opinion piece (or better yet, in-kind Biden campaign advertising contribution) masked as news assures readers. “But in a contentious election year, it’s also an effort to show voters — especially younger ones for whom gun violence deeply resonates — that the White House is trying to stop the deaths.”
The “effort” in question is a rule change to alter the definition of “engaged in the business” to stymie private firearms sales and move closer to a goal the executive can’t (yet) get the legislature to buy into: so-called “universal background checks.” Now, instead of the criteria being “with the principal objective of livelihood and profit,” an arbitrary “to predominantly earn a profit” could mean, as Gun Owners of America warned during the rule comment period, “ATF might lock you up for being ‘engaged in the business of dealing in firearms’ if you merely offer to sell a single firearm!”
The assumptions AP imparts to its readers reveal none of this.
We’re told there’s “a scourge of gun violence across the country,” with no regard to several relevant truths: “Gun violence” is a political term designed to create fear and loathing of the objects while deflecting responsibility from those abusing them. It’s not “across the country,” it overwhelmingly occurs in specific and known Democrat urban districts. As economist John Lott demonstrates, “Murder isn’t a nationwide problem. It’s a problem in a small set of urban areas, and even in those counties, murders are concentrated in small areas inside them…” Those doing the “scourging” don’t obey gun laws and won’t be slowed down by this.
Curious how much less “gun violence” there was in this country before Democrats started imposing all this “progress.”

We’ve reported in recent months how several states are considering or have passed legislation forbidding credit card companies from using a special Merchant Category Code (MCC) for gun purchases that would basically create a registry of guns bought by Americans. Now, a U.S. Senator from Tennessee has introduced federal legislation along the same lines.
On April 9, Republican U.S. Sen. Bill Hagerty’s bill, S 4075, the Protecting Privacy In Purchasing Act, would ban the use of a firearm retailer-specific MCC nationwide.
“Merchant category codes should never be used to track and surveil gun store customers,” Sen. Hagerty said in a press release announcing the legislation. “If this alarming overreach isn’t stopped here, radical leftists won’t just target gun owners—they’ll weaponize the financial system against anyone who makes a purchase that doesn’t conform to their agenda. This bill is critical to preventing the politicization of MCC codes and securing the civil liberties of law-abiding Americans.”

Judge Aileen Cannon ordered the public release of the FBI’s interview of Trump’s valet driver Walt Nauta.
Walt Nauta is a former White House employee and Navy veteran who worked valet for Trump and served as a personal staffer at Mar-a-Lago.
According to the transcript of the May 2022 interview, the FBI interrogated Trump’s aide Walt Nauta – without Trump’s knowledge.
The FBI agents approached Walt Nauta and asked for a voluntary interview under the guise of national security interest (similar to the General Flynn ambush).
“On May 26, 2022, NAUTA participated in a voluntary interview with the FBI. During the interview, the FBI explained to NAUTA that the FBI was investigating how classified documents had been kept at The Mar-a-Lago Club, and the FBI asked NAUTA questions about the location and movement TRUMP’s boxes before TRUMP provided 15 boxes to NARA on January 17, 2022. NAUTA was represented by counsel, and the FBI advised NAUTA that the interview was voluntary and that he could leave at any time. The FBI also advised NAUTA that it was a criminal offense to lie to the FBI,” according to the indictment reviewed by The Gateway Pundit.
According to the newly released transcript reviewed by this reporter, the FBI interrogated Walt Nauta without Trump’s knowledge.
“As far as [Trump] knows, I’m out jogging,” Walt Nauta told FBI agents when asked if Trump was aware he was in a secret meeting with the FBI.
The FBI agents also tried to push Walt Nauta into admitting he was more than just a cook in the Navy. They accused him of using the cook claims as a ‘cover.’
“I wish I was something – I wish I was Steven Seagal, but no,” Nauta told the agents.
The agents insisted Trump got “some stuff going on with this Russia stuff.”
Sure enough, it was a perjury trap and Walt Nauta was indicted along with Trump in Jack Smith’s classified documents case.
Special Counsel Jack Smith indicted Trump on 37 federal counts in Miami last June.
Trump was charged with 31 counts of willful retention of national defense information and 6 other process crimes stemming from his conversations with his lawyer.
According to the federal indictment reviewed by The Gateway Pundit, Nauta was charged along with Trump in counts 32, 33, 43, 35, and 36.
Walt Nauta was told to move boxes after Trump received a subpoena in May 2023 for classified documents, according to the charging documents.
The charges include conspiracy, withholding a document or record, corruptly concealing a document or record, concealing a document in a federal investigation and scheme to conceal.
Walt Nauta was also charged alone in count 38: False statements and misrepresentations.
