Reader’s Links for march 21st, 2024

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

For those interested, please check out https://vladtepesblog.substack.com/ as an another avenue of expression.

  1. Yesterday Fedhead Powell said his piecein the afternoon and Mr. Market rejoiced, interpreting his status quo stance as dovish re interest rates. The three dot plot votes for three cuts before year end signify more the corner he’s in than anything else. Interest rates should be near 10% to oppose the real inflation rate, but this would crash the economy more dramatically and faster than a rattlesnake’s sneeze, not to mention it would make Obiden more politically nervous than a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

I like this analysis because it came before the Fedhead opened his cake hole:

  2. Here, a communist attacks capital under the guise of eating the rich. Yes, there is unprecedented wealth disparity, but who created it? The Federal Reserve created it by going against market forces to keep money cheap for the longest duration in the history of humanity. Talk about central-planned distortion! Then they float the balloon of a 40% withholding tax, aka currency controls. Gee, I wonder how long it will take them to impose currency controls on everyone. (Spoiler: the next currency crisis.)

  3. Editorial:
Canada Should Be Ashamed of Its “Arms Embargo” on Israel

Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly announced Tuesday that Ottawa will halt arms sales to Israel. It surely came as a sorely needed piece of good news to Hamas leaders, who can look at this decision as evidence that if they hold out just a little bit longer, then the world will condemn Israel and seek to tie the Jewish state’s hands behind its back.

Canada’s decision also must bring joy to terrorist organizations worldwide searching for a winning strategy. If they see that through the cruel use of Palestinian human shields, Hamas can survive and murder more Jews and Israeli innocents, then they could be saying to themselves, “This is a great game plan, and if it works for Hamas, it can work for us.”

The military equipment that Canada sells Israel – $21 million in 2022 – is not going to determine the course of this war. The Canadian government has confused the aggressor with the victim and lost sight of who is responsible for the horrible and undeniable suffering taking place inside Gaza.

Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz said:

It is unfortunate that the Canadian government is taking a step that undermines Israel’s right to self-defense against the Hamas murderers who have committed terrible crimes against humanity and against innocent Israeli citizens, including the elderly, women, and children…

In the Last Decade, Canada Purchased Israeli Weapons Worth over $1 Billion

Israeli weapons systems are now protecting Canadian pilots, fighters, and naval combatants around the world. They are deployed to protect Canada’s borders and NATO countries bordering Russia.

In the last decade, the Canadian Defense Ministry purchased Israeli weapon systems worth more than $1 billion after examining their performance, price, and delivery time compared to those of other Western companies.

In those years, Israel purchased components and subsystems worth only tens of millions of dollars from the Canadians.

In December 2023, Canada announced the purchase of advanced anti-tank Spike missiles from Rafael, worth $32 million, to help protect Canadian forces stationed in Latvia.

General Dynamics Canada last year sold dozens of armored personnel carriers to the Colombian military for $418 million. They are equipped with remote-controlled 30 mm cannon turrets manufactured by Rafael.

In 2015, the Canadians purchased 10 Iron Dome radars…. Since then, [lots more radars]…

  4. At Shifa Hospital in Gaza, Israel Captures Architect of 2014 Abduction, Murder of 3 Teens

Mahmoud Kawasme, a senior Hamas official who was one of the planners and financiers of a terror cell that kidnapped and murdered three Israeli teens in 2014, was arrested by Israeli security forces at Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, Israeli security officials announced Wednesday.

Kawasme was deported to Gaza in the 2011 prisoner swap for IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, from where he directed Hamas terrorist activities in the West Bank, including the murder of Gil-ad Shaer, Eyal Yifrach and Naftali Fraenkel, as well as several shooting attacks in recent years.

Watch: IDF Airstrike Kills Terrorist in Jenin behind Major Attacks

The IDF and Israel Security Agency eliminated senior Islamic Jihad terrorist Ahmed Barakat, who murdered Meir Tamari in May 2023 in a drive-by shooting near Hermesh, and was behind an attack on March 8 near Homesh that injured seven soldiers.

The airstrike on a car in Jenin killed two other terrorists, but Muhammad Hawashin, commander of Islamic Jihad’s Jenin branch, survived. The IDF said Barakat and Hawashin were planning “significant terror attacks” against Israeli civilians. They were also behind a recent thwarted attempt to infiltrate Israel with an explosive device.

Since the beginning of the war, 3,500 wanted individuals have been arrested in the West Bank, including 1,500 linked to Hamas. About 350 terrorists were killed.

  5. MIT Rejects Dennis Ross but Allows Hamas Supporter to Speak

Recent news concerning speakers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology about Israel and Gaza has not generated attention or headlines outside of the school and its alumni. But these events should have. MIT has refused to host a talk by former U.S. Middle East envoy Dennis Ross. At the same time, the school has refused to cancel an invite to an outspoken Hamas supporter to campus.

The irony is that since Ross successfully pressured Israel to allow cement into Gaza, which Hamas used to build its terror tunnels, he has done more to endanger Israeli civilians than the Hamas apologist could ever hope to….

So even if the pro-Hamas hypocrites at MIT consider Ross too “pro-Israel” to have him speak on campus, his actual track record included actions that eventually helped Hamas. The Jewish alumni at MIT who invited Ross should find themselves a speaker who does not have such marks of shame on his record.

  6. Judge Napolitano: I hadn’t listened to his show since doing a deep dive background check on his regulars.

Do an online search. Then keep him and his little friends away from PDJT! Soaking in skunk poo, a reckless own goal that'd waste precious time in POTUS lame-duck years.

Now Judge Nap’s gone full keffiyeh – in heart, not on his thin, strangely dyed hair.

Feds accused of watching bank accounts without legal justification

A new investigation has been launched by Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Rep. Harriet Hageman, R-Wyo., into allegations of IRS corruption, that the feared and powerful federal bureaucracy is using artificial intelligence to spy on taxpayers’ bank accounts and financial records “en masse.”

  8. WWIII Alert: US Army Publishes ALARACT for “Utilization of the Army Retiree Recall Program”
    by Brian Lupo Mar. 21, 2024 7:00 pm51 Comments

While the Ukraine conflict rages on and rumors run rampant about France potentially deploying up to 2,000 troops to Ukraine, according to Russian intelligence, the US Army yesterday issued a “Utilization of the Army Retiree Recall Program.”

On March 20th, the US Army Publishing Directorate published ALARACT 017/2024. The title of the form is “Utilization of the Army Retiree Recall Program” and it cites Executive Order 13223 under “References”. Executive Order 13223 is a Bush-era EO from September 14, 2001 titled “Ordering the Ready Reserve of the Armed Forces to Active Duty and Delegating Certain Authorities to the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Transportation.”

The 18-page PDF for the ALARACT, which stands for “All Army Activities”, contains a slide titled “Directorate of Military Personnel Management.” Under the first slide, it states:

“What is a Retiree Recall? -A recalled retiree is a retired Soldier who is ordered to active duty from the Retired Reserve or the retired list under 10 USC 688/688a, 12301(a), or 12301(d) and serves in his or her retired status. Retiree Recall is not an extension of your MRD.

A Small Step For President Biden In Gaza, A Big Step Towards Total War

I rushed to hope that the U.S. would turn the Gaza port initiative into the first step in the move toward its comprehensive peace vision, in cooperation with the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Jordan, and the Palestinian Authority.

This was all based on the hope that Qatar, which is Hamas, would be ousted from any role in it, since it is a sponsor of Islamist terrorism worldwide. My hope was indeed consistent with the first reports about the port initiative. I termed it a “port of hope” and considered it a miracle that the Biden administration would take an actual step to implement its peace vision.

I proved to be damned wrong.

This administration betrayed its allies – the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Jordan – by handing the port over to Qatar, namely to Hamas.

    • I can’t stress enough the importance of this article. It’s harsh, the conclusions are grim. They’re close to my own.

Given the escalation in Ukraine, the signal weakness we’re projecting elsewhere, we’re giving the enemy an opportunity too tempting to pass it up.

There are 300,000 NATO troops making their way across Bulgaria and Romania to the borders of Ukraine and Belarus. American brand tanks and armored personal carriers. A routine exercise?

Putting it together with the way the media is “monstering” Israel, I figure we’ll be at war by summer.

  11. The Irish are not Muslim, the English not Jewish. This virtue signaler tries to wrestle the two into parallel, but it doesn’t work. It makes him feel good, I guess, but he should be fighting leftism.

Leap years forward. Israel’s biggest threat is demography. Muslims breeding so successfuly how? Because of oppression and starvation and no medicine? Hmm. Did the Irish outbreed the English? No. Do Irish have a manuel saying kill the English? By his logic we’re all Palistinians now. French Canadians, aborigines, Poles under Soviets, blacks, blah-blah. Tired stuff.
