This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

  10. Hungary has vowed to block censorious attempts from globalist Eurocrats such as Guy Verhofstadt to impose sanctions on Tucker Carlson for interviewing Russia’s Vladimir Putin.

    Amid the left-wing establishment furore over Carlson’s decision to interview the Russian head of state, former Belgian prime minister and current member of the European Parliament, Guy Verhofstadt called for an EU travel ban to be imposed on the American journalist and for the bloc to begin the process to levy sanctions External Action Service, the EU’s diplomatic controlled by Spanish socialist Josep Borrell.

    However, the body does not have unilateral authority to sanction individuals but rather can merely present evidence to the European Council, the executive arm of the EU composed of the heads of state or government of the EU member states, any of whom has the power to veto a decision.

    Therefore, socially conservative Hungary has the ability to block the EU from sanctioning Carlson and on Tuesday confirmed that it would do so if the measure was put before the Council.

    Responding to a news story about the potential of EU sanctions on the American journalist, Balázs Orbán, the political director of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán wrote on social media: “Don’t bother trying – we won’t let it happen!”

  11. Finland’s national airline Finnair will reportedly start weighing passengers along with their carry-on luggage to estimate the plane’s weight before take-off.

    Finnair told reporters that they began their new policy this past Monday.

    “So far, more than 500 volunteer customers have participated in the weigh-ins,” spokeswoman Kaisa Tikkanen said.

    Finnair said it wants to have an accurate weight of the plane and its passengers for safety purposes. The airline assured passengers that their data would not be leaked.

    Nieuw Sociaal Contract, (New Social Contract, NSC) a newly formed centre-right populist party focused on state reform to enhance good government, fiscal responsibility, and welfare dramatically walked away from the coalition negotiation process this week, citing fiscal concerns. The leaders of the other three political parties in talks to form the next Dutch government reacted with surprise and even dismay at the development, calling it unexpected and saying they read about it in the national news before they heard about it from the NSC themselves.

    Squatters have taken over 1,200 homes in Atlanta, Georgia and are terrorizing neighbors with loud parties. One home was even turned into an illegal strip club.

    This is a symptom of the lawlessness that has gripped the country in recent years and to make matters worse, laws often favor the squatters, making it extremely difficult for homeowners to get rid of them.

    If this is allowed to continue, the problem will only get worse as it spreads.

    In the latest episode on Democrat Urban Utopia, squatters are reportedly taking over hundreds of Atlanta homes, terrorizing neighbors, and even opening an illegal strip club.

    Police response to evict the squatters is so delayed that some desperate homeowners have actually bribed the intruders to leave, according to the New York Post. Whole neighborhoods have been ruined by the horde of squatters. Local home-cleaning company manager Matt Urbanski emphasized the severity of the crisis, saying, “I’d be terrified in Atlanta to lease out one of my properties.”

    He should know, as he cleans out homes for “corporate landlords,” according to the Post. Not only does Urbanski have to clear out squatters’ belongings, but one of his employees was also shot following his recent attempt to get squatters off private property.

    The audio was leaked to numerous Houston media outlets, causing a headache for the 74-year-old’s campaign.

  23. Amid an explosion of violent carjackings and armed thefts in the District’s downtown, workers who have permits to carry concealed handguns are still forced to go unarmed throughout the city.

    Second Amendment advocates say the District’s expansive restrictions on where citizens can legally bear arms are contributing to the city’s crime problem.

    “Obviously, the laws in Washington, D.C., are not favorable to gun rights, or self-defense or self-protection. And these carjackings are a great example of how stupid these laws are,” Second Amendment Foundation Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb told The Washington Times.

    Two migrants were collared for a rash of moped raids where they snatched jewelry from unsuspecting New Yorkers, law enforcement sources said – as the number of scooter-borne robberies explodes citywide.

    Luis Tovar Pacheco and Alvaro Martinez — Venezuela citizens living in the Bronx — were busted after a domestic violence complaint at Pacheco’s Laconia Avenue, police sources told The Post.

    The arrests come on the heels of a Monday bust that locked up two other migrant men allegedly involved in a separate thieves’ ring that’s been stealing people’s cellphones right out of their hands, then hacking the devices and cleaning out the linked bank accounts.

    But the sticky fingered pair picked up yesterday weren’t looking for cellphones — instead, they were searching for well-to-do New Yorkers wearing Rolexes, gold bracelets, watches or other jewelry, police sources said.

  27. Oregon pioneered a radical drug policy. Now it’s reconsidering.

    Oregon voters passed the most liberal drug law in the country in November 2020, decriminalizing possession for small amounts of hard drugs.

    Under Ballot Measure 110, instead of arresting drug users, police now give them a citation and point them towards treatment. The law passed with 58% of the vote and also funneled hundreds of millions of dollars in cannabis tax revenue to fund new recovery programs.

    But more than three years later, the drug crisis in Oregon – like many other places battling the fentanyl crisis – has gotten worse. And that’s prompted a fierce political debate in Oregon about whether Measure 110 has succeeded or failed.

  28. The Air Force wants at least 1,000 retired officers and enlisted service members to come back to work to fill critical personnel vacancies in several fields, ranging from pilots and missile operations to finance and public affairs.

    The Voluntary Retired Return to Active Duty Program is aimed at officers who retired as captains through lieutenant colonels and enlisted troops who retired as staff sergeants through senior master sergeant.

    The application window is open through Jan. 31, 2026, and those selected will serve no more than a four-year tour, Air Force officials said this week.

    Overnight saw a Double-Deflation Day in China as both Consumer and Producer Prices continued to deflate (on a YoY basis), with the headline CPI deflation worsening and PPI deflation easing a little.

    The consumer price index dropped 0.8% YoY in January – the weakest since September 2009 (and worse than economists’ expectations for a 0.5% decline).

    The producer price index fell 2.5%, marking 16 straight months of deflation for factory-gate costs.

  30. A major academic publisher has retracted three articles by a leading pro-life research group, including a study raising medical concerns about the abortion pill ahead of a Supreme Court hearing on the drug’s federal approval.

    Sage Journals removed three articles published in 2019, 2021 and 2022 by the pro-life Charlotte Lozier Institute, citing concerns about conflicts of interest and “lack of scientific rigor,” which prompted the institute to accuse Sage of an “unprovoked and partisan assault” on its research.

    The studies were pulled Monday, a week after the Supreme Court scheduled oral arguments for March 26 in Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. FDA, a case challenging the Food and Drug Administration’s 2000 approval of mifepristone for pregnancy termination.

    The Supreme Court of Hawaii ruled against Christopher Wilson, a man charged with carrying a gun without a permit, asserting that under the state’s constitution, there is no right to bear arms in public.

    This ruling overturns a lower court’s decision, which had aligned with Wilson’s Second Amendment defense, particularly in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark rulings in District of Columbia v. Heller (2008) and New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen (2022).

    The lower court ruled that prosecuting Wilson would violate his Second Amendment rights.

    Wilson’s arrest on December 7, 2017, in the West Maui Mountains for possessing a loaded handgun without a permit has become a focal point for a broader constitutional debate.

  32. Attor­ney Gen­er­al Ken Pax­ton Seeks to Stop Biden Admin­is­tra­tion from Cen­sor­ing Amer­i­can Media Companies

    Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a memorandum in support of a preliminary injunction against the Biden Administration’s censorship apparatus used to silence and disparage American media companies it disagrees with.

    In December 2023, Attorney General Paxton, alongside The Daily Wire and The Federalist, sued the U.S. Department of State, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and other government officials for conspiring to censor, deplatform, and demonetize American media outlets the federal government disfavored. This censorship scheme misappropriated tax dollars and violated Texas law requiring social media companies to act as common carriers.

    The filing explains the federal government “converted State Department resources and tools of warfare—information warfare—which were developed in the context of national security, foreign relations, and to combat American adversaries abroad, to use at home against domestic political opponents and members of the American press with viewpoints conflicting with federal officials holding the reins of this unlawful administrative power.”

    “I am proud to lead the fight to save American’s precious constitutional rights from Joe Biden’s tyrannical federal government,” said Attorney General Paxton. “The State Department’s mission to obliterate the First Amendment is completely un-American. This agency will not get away with their illegal campaign to silence citizens and publications they disagree with.”

    The New Civil Liberties Alliance (“NCLA”) is serving as co-counsel. Mark Chenoweth, NCLA president and general counsel, said: “The State Department supposedly developed these speech-suppressing technologies to combat foreign propaganda overseas. That the federal government now sees fit to wield these weapons—or put them in others’ hands to wield—against American citizens and stateside media outlets is as frightening as it is forbidden.”

    This motion asks the court, while it considers the case, to stop the Biden Administration from continuing to research, assess, fund, test, market, promote, host on its government platform, or otherwise assist with the development and use of technology that targets free speech and the American press.

  34. Wildfires that are turning neighborhoods to ash are likely Chile’s deadliest on record, UN agency says

    The devastating wildfires tearing across large parts of Chile are believed to be the country’s deadliest on record, according to the United Nations disaster agency, as firefighters struggle to contain more than 160 blazes after days of burning.

    The fires have claimed at least 123 lives and hundreds of people are still missing, according to Chilean authorities. Officials also said that 33 bodies have been identified and 79 autopsies have been conducted.

    Hundreds more remain missing and the death toll is expected to rise, according to the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction.

    The wildfires have devastated swaths of central and northern Chile, destroying thousands of homes and buildings and turning neighborhoods to ash.

    President Gabriel Boric said Tuesday the fires are the “biggest tragedy” in the country since the deadly 2010 earthquake – a magnitude 8.8 that killed hundreds.

    A refugee from Afghanistan who lied to gain asylum in Britain and claimed he worked for MI6 and met the King, has rejected allegations he is a Russian spy.
    A court heard that the alleged spy – who is identified as C2 – also worked for the Home Office, GCHQ and MI6.
    C2 was stripped of British citizenship in 2019 after MI5 suggested he was an agent for the GRU – the Russian military intelligence agency accused of carrying out the nerve agent attack in Salisbury.
    In 2000, he was given asylum after claiming he had come directly from Afghanistan and was running from the Taliban.

    However, he lived for six years in Russia and on Tuesday admitted to the court that he had lied in his asylum application.
    He said he did not inform the UK about living in Russia out of fear of being deported, The Times reports.

    During a hearing before the Special Immigration Appeals Commission (SIAC), it was revealed that he had access to “top secret” documents while working for the British Government in Britain and Afghanistan.
    He also claims, he worked with David Cameron and Gordon Brown and met Prince Charles and Prince William.

    He added that the pair accused him of being trained by the GRU since the age of five.
