Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.
This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.
So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.
This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

So when this saturation results in a cynicism by the target towards the desired message, what does the message creator do? Have we even ever been here before? Are we also saying, then, that saturation causes the message creator to lose advantage? In other words the lies have come so fast and furious that they simply die from ear fatigue. Interesting territory if this is the case.

on language – The word “militant”
has two dictionary meanings: aggressive when expressing a political stand and someone who acts in in an aggressive manner to an extreme point.
https://www.npr.org/2024/01/04/1222880931/islamic-state-claims-responsibility-iran-suicide-bombings
NPR apparently uses the noun to mean a member of a terrorist group who kills someone.
This struck me today when an NPR news story mentioned the trauma experienced by neighbors of Israeli where “entire families” were killed by militants. Imagine if Thomas Jefferson had characterized the Barbary Pirates as militants! Would the US have formed its Navy to combat militants? Are Texans who believe the border needs defense going to be called “militant”?
These links give an idea of NPR’s use–uniique to news media–versus the dictionary definitions, which have not changed over time.

This is 100% the result of Obama’s CVE. He created an office called, “Countering Violent Extremism”. Trump dumped it but Obama/Biden started it up again in 2020.
The purpose of the CVE is to relabel people and groups according to the neo-Marxist agenda at play here. It is also why the FBI was hamstrung and couldn’t stop the Sarinov Bros. from attacking the Boston Marathon.
In it, a person who swore an oath to the US constitution could be declared an extremist. A person who swore an oath to the constitution for armed services was a violent extremist. Various reports about White Supremacy had been created based on the statistics derived from this linguistic or dialectical chicanery.
The CVE also changed all language where it concerned Islam.
Before Obama was elected I used to subscribe to STRATFOR. At the time for me, it was a very large expense. But it was so good as an information service it was worth it. After Obama came to power, their language also changed to the point I cancelled my subscription.
Here is an example:

STRATFOR’s language in this post is 100% in accordance with Obama’s CVE and is a perfect example of exactly what you are talking about. I even have the video somewhere of the French group doing synchronized clapping and clever chants about a mega-mosque, if memory serves, being constructed then at that point on the same spot Charles the Hammer Martel defeated Muslim invaders to France in Tours.

The Art of War
“In the practical art of war, the best thing of all is to TAKE the enemy’s country whole and intact; to shatter and destroy it is not good”.
“Take the tribute from the Christians and the Jews and they are bad., and say to them —Give tribute, you are the enemy of God”.

The Left’s Lawfare Will Destroy American Democracy
by Paul Ingrassia Jan. 30, 2024 8:00 am204 Comments
The idea that a rogue judge can exploit a rarely-used statute intended to prosecute real-life cases of fraud in order to bring down the leading presidential candidate should outrage all Americans, regardless of party affiliation.
New York’s anti-fraud statute in question, Executive Law 63(12), will be front and center in Judge Engoron’s decision this week. The statute is one of the most severe anti-fraud statutes in the country because it notably does not require a showing of intent to deceive to prove fraud.
That said, however, the few instances of case law on the books since the late 1950s, when the statute was first adopted, show how courts have interpreted the statute.
In every single case save one, courts have only ever found fraud where actual victims suffered from provable harms as a result of the fraud. (The lone exception was a business that wrote college admissions essays for students, in which the victim was “the integrity of the educational process.”)
In the Trump case, by sharp contrast, not only were there no victims – there was no fraud. This is most blatantly seen by the fact that Trump’s lender, Deutsch Bank, never so much as complained – let alone, even noticed – that it had been defrauded of the asserted $168 million that Letitia James absolutely insists it had lost in an otherwise very profitable business relationship with the Trump organization.
No matter how rich and powerful the lending organization, any bank that was supposedly defrauded nearly two hundred million dollars would notice and would have brought a lawsuit years before Letitia James developed a savior complex for big banks.
That New York State would pursue multiple investigations at the same time against the same man who also happens to be the presidential frontrunner reeks of banana republicanism.
It is not like Donald Trump is some private businessman, and this case transpired in the normal course of business. He is the current frontrunner to be the next President of the United States.
This is all part of a multipronged hatchet job against a man considered to be a threat to the ruling elites, many of whom – like Reid Hoffman and Norm Eisen – are some of the biggest financial backers of these lawsuits.
For Judge Engoron to pretend like he is administering the rule of law fairly and faithfully is an affront to everything our justice system once stood for. This is not due process; what is unfolding in his courtroom is nothing short of a vindictive power grab by a despotic judge, so clearly envious of Trump’s success in politics and business.
If Engoron orders for President Trump’s business empire to be dissolved, a step notably beyond what even Letitia James advised, then he will destroy the prospect of doing business in New York State for good, and likely throughout the country — a devastating outcome, that nobody should desire, given that it would surely bring the American Dream to an end.
Do New Yorkers understand what is at stake? Have they totally abandoned belief in capitalism, free enterprise, the American Dream? Do they realize their city will fail without visionary men doing business like Donald Trump?
There is no chance, after this chilling precedent, that any business would ever want to step foot in New York State again, a state that is already being bled dry by Albany of what little enterprising talent it has left between draconian taxes, regulations, DEI-requirements, and incubating a climate of rampant lawlessness.
Trump did not harm anyone, nor did he deceive anyone in his business dealings – the only crime he ever committed was running for President and speaking the truth. Full disclosure: both those things happen to be rights protected under the Constitution.
But Judges Engoron and Kaplan, and Attorney General James — aided by her lapdog D.A. Alvin Bragg — are letting their all-consuming hate for a single man literally destroy the country.
No sane society would let any one of them occupy their positions of authority – they have completely abandoned the Constitution and rule of law and must pay the price for the irreversible havoc they have wrought.
A sane court system would never in a million years lodge an $83 million damages award upon a washed-up, octogenarian sex columnist for defamation arising from an alleged rape in which the claimant could not even recall the most basic details, such as the year it took place, and waited nearly thirty years before filing a lawsuit once it became politically expedient to do so.
It is interesting that the recent change in New York State law that allowed E. Jean Carroll to bring her lawsuit beyond the normal statute of limitations was done by a rabid anti-Trump state legislator.
It is also interesting that the same financial backer of the Carroll lawsuit, Reid Hoffman, the co-founder of LinkedIn, is a major Democratic donor, who also happens to be bankrolling Nikki Haley’s sorry excuse for a campaign at the same time.
These are not coincidences: this is clearcut election interference, brought to you by the same forces that orchestrated the covid lockdowns, the George Floyd-riots, and the myriad attendant rule changes to election law in the lead-up to 2020 election that made Biden’s heist, somehow both the most unpopular president in American history despite being the “president” to receive the most number of votes ever, inevitable.
A system of “justice” that values E. Jean Carroll’s reputation at $83 million, would, under normal circumstances, trigger immediate calls for tort reform. In what universe is E. Jean Carroll’s life and work, who is now in her eighties — and thus has little of both remaining — even close to being valued at $83 million?
Her allegations are completely without merit, which is the reason why she delayed filing a lawsuit for thirty years until she found the political and financial support she needed from the Left.
But such an egregious figure is typical for a system that would also value Mar-a-Lago at $18 million. The rot in the New York judicial system is deep, emblematic of the rot afflicting our society’s justice system writ large, but there the rule of law is being flouted in a particularly flagrant display.
These judges, district attorneys, and special prosecutors run roughshod over every last judicial norm because they think they can get away with it. They sneer at the rest of us with scornful derision because they think we will not stand up for our rights.
Let the clown show that Leftists has made of the New York justice system be an omen for what can and will happen to the rest of the nation without a powerful response by those on the Right who wish to preserve our Constitution and the rule of law in their true, original meanings.
Government of the people, by the people, for the people has become government of the lawyer, by the lawyer, for the lawyer – and in New York, that recipe now threatens to destroy what remnants of a once free and just country remain.

Conservative historian and scholar Victor Davis Hanson recently wrote about the E. Jean Carroll ruling against Trump, taking special aim at changes in New York law that took place prior to the case and pointing out that this is just one piece of the endless lawfare the left is aiming at Trump.
Hanson calls the case ‘baffling’ and notes the inconsistencies in Carroll’s story.

Massive Fire Engulfs Feather Crest Farm Chicken Plant in Texas, Reportedly Following Large Explosion (VIDEO)
by Jim H?ft Jan. 29, 2024 8:20 pm810 Comments
A massive fire has engulfed Feather Crest Farms, located east of Kurten, Texas, in Brazos County, causing widespread alarm and prompting a massive response from multiple fire departments.
The fire, which was reported just after 5 p.m. near Fickey Road east of Kurten, has become a major concern for local authorities and residents.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., Bryan Texas Utilities announced that, in order to ensure the safety of firefighters responding to the fire, system operators would be temporarily disconnecting service for approximately 140 customers.
Early reports indicate that the fire has consumed a building and several tanks on the premises of Feather Crest Farms. Eyewitnesses have reported hearing a loud explosion prior to the outbreak of the fire, suggesting a possible cause, although this has yet to be confirmed by officials.
Authorities have issued a stern warning to the public to avoid the area to ensure emergency vehicles have unimpeded access. The size and intensity of the fire have made it a challenging task for the firefighters, who are working tirelessly to contain the flames.

Squad member Cori Bush under criminal investigation by the Department of Justice for allegedly misusing funds meant for private security: Democrat married one of her bodyguards
Bush has spent $756,000 on security since she was elected in 2020, her largest expenditure by far.
A watchdog has demanded the Federal Election Commission (FEC) investigate the $62,000 Rep. Cori Bush paid her now-husband as a security guard from her campaign account.
The nonpartisan Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) asked FEC acting general counsel Lisa Stevenson to look into whether Squad member and BLM activist Bush ‘used campaign funds for personal use.’
It was recently revealed that Bush, D-Mo., married Cortney Merritts in a private ceremony in early 2023. In 2022 he was on the payroll of her re-election campaign.

Saudi Aramco halts plan to raise production capacity
Saudi Arabia has ordered energy giant Aramco to maintain its oil production capacity at 12 million barrels per day, abandoning a planned increase, the firm said on Tuesday.
“Aramco announces that it has received a directive from the ministry of energy to maintain its maximum sustainable capacity (MSC) at 12 million barrels per day” instead of ramping it up to 13 million bpd, the firm said in a statement.
“The company will update its capital spending guidance when its full-year 2023 results are announced in March.”
Saudi Arabia is the world’s largest crude exporter and Aramco is the jewel of the Gulf kingdom’s economy.
Aramco’s profits are expected to finance Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s sweeping economic and social reform programme known as Vision 2030, which aims to lay the groundwork for an eventual post-oil future.
Riyadh announced the planned production capacity increase in October 2021, the same month it pledged to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2060 –-

Anti-Gunners Capitalize on ‘Gun Free Zone’ Deaths – Shut Down Training
Ammoland Inc. Posted on January 30, 2024 by Dan Wos
Lawmakers in at least three state capitals are considering laws to repeal state preemption statutes.
Anti-Gunners Capitalize on ‘Gun Free Zone’ Deaths – Shut Down Training
The deadly killing that took place on October 25, 2023, at Just In Time Recreation in Lewiston, Maine, shook the entire town. The killer took 18 lives that day. The question many have is, would the attack have taken place had the establishment not been a gun free zone? According to the Crime Prevention Research Center the establishment was likely a gun free zone and had a sign on the front door that read, “We kindly ask that you refrain from bringing firearms in this building and we would appreciate it if you left them in your vehicle. Please keep our atmosphere family-friendly.” It would appear that the owners have not been held liable for the tragic loss of life in the gun free zone and it has been reported that they plan to reopen the establishment in March or April of 2024 at a different location. No one shot back during the violent attack.
It would seem the anti-gun folks in Maine are using the tragedy to push for more gun control and restrictions. Recently, a handful of these outraged anti-gun zealots encouraged the state to shut down a rifle cleaning class conducted by the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. They used the Just In Time Recreation killings as justification for the banning of the instructional course that teaches people how to be safer with their firearms.
The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife has successfully held these classes for over three years. The focus of the class is to teach proper maintenance and the safe use of different types of guns used in hunting. Apparently, the anti-gun agitators would prefer that courses designed to teach safe firearm handling not take place at all.
Mark Latti, Director of Communications for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, said, “After reflecting upon these concerns, the department ultimately agreed that a class focused exclusively on AR 15s was insensitive in the wake of the violence our state has recently experienced. Therefore, we decided to cancel it Friday morning.” According to the Portland Press Harold, the newsletter for the course was sent to nearly 411,000 people, but the course was shut down because of 12 complaints.
David Farmer, a spokesperson for the Maine Gun Safety Coalition, said, “We don’t believe that individuals should have access to weapons of war.” But even Farmer agreed that education is important when he said, “but while they are legal, we support educating owners to operate them safely and responsibly.”
Senator Peggy Rotundo, D-Lewiston said she was never contacted by anyone with concerns about the class.
The demonization of the AR-15 perpetuated by left-wing politicians and the anti-gun lobby is having a negative effect, as intended. When people who don’t know any better are convinced that a specific type of firearm is responsible for death, the irrational public outcry can be harmful to the rights of American Citizens. When others who do know better capitulate to the irrational fears of the anti-gun crowd, they further perpetuate the disintegration of our 2nd Amendment.
Apparently, Mr. Latti and his department were concerned with being insensitive, so they were willing to accommodate the anti-gun instigators and cancel the safety course even though the course had nothing to do with the killing that happened several months prior. Holding the course, despite the complaints from a small number of people, may have been the perfect opportunity to support firearm safety and remind the public that violence doesn’t come from a gun. Instead, those who could have supported our 2nd Amendment chose to accommodate others with misguided views and politically motivated intent.
People who claim they want to keep others safe through gun control often choose to support deadly gun free zones.
In this case, the anti-gunners decided to make irrational demands for the purpose of shutting down a firearm safety course. Do they really want to keep people safe or are they intent on creating deadly situations and keeping people uneducated on the topic of firearms? You must ask yourself, do the deaths from gun free zones and uneducated firearm use benefit them in their push for more gun control laws?

Prague Mass Murder Shows Copycat Killings are not Limited to the United States

On December 21, 2023, a student at Charles University in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, killed about 14 people and injured about two dozen others in a planned and premeditated mass murder.
The killer used a rifle with a telescopic sight and is said to have had a number of other firearms with him. The murderer used the advantage of the height of a multistory building to see the people he was targeting and as a way to shield him from immediate response.
I believe it was on May 30, 2022, in Boise Idaho, Ed Monk and I were presenters at an armed self-defense course. In his presentation about active killers, Ed Monk predicted the world would experience more mass murders conducted from a height advantage. As I recall, Ed said active mass killers studied the active mass murders of others to see what techniques worked.
Ed believed some would use the Las Vegas active mass murder as a template, in part because it took so long for responders to reach the mass murderer in that event.
One of the first mass murderers using a tall building for advantage was Charles Whitman on August 1, 1966. The numbers are similar to what happened in Prague. Whitman killed his wife and mother, then killed 14 more from the University of Texas Tower in Austin, TX, while wounding at least 31. Multiple citizens fired back at Whitman, and an armed citizen accompanied the police to climb the stairs to confront Whitman and stop the killing. Whitman was found to have a brain tumor and was presumed to be insane.
Whitman did not become an icon in the media. Troubled people did not appear to see his mass murder as a way to achieve fame during a public suicide. The copycat effect did not occur until decades later, with vast changes in the American and global media, the Internet, and a significant degradation in public morals.
Rumors are circulating that the mass murderer in Prague murdered his father to obtain the firearm used for most of the killing. In the mass murder at Sandy Hook School in Connecticut, the killer murdered his mother to obtain the weapons used at the school. There is media confirmation the killer’s father was found murdered at home.
It is too early to be certain precisely what firearms were used in the mass murder in Prague. It appears a ZEV 30 was the primary weapon. It has been written the rifle was thrown off the balcony before the killer committed suicide with a shotgun.
Reported Charles University Prague mass killer rifle, source Reddit
Reported Charles University Prague mass killer rifle, source Reddit
A picture of a rifle with a broken stock, broken pistol grip, and broken magazine is suspected of being the scoped rifle used in the mass murder. The picture was posted at reddit.com. It appears to have Czeck words associated with the source. The rifle appears on cobblestones as if it was dropped from a considerable height. The provenance of the image is uncertain.
There is speculation the rifle was a ZEV 30 in 7.62 NATO. It is unknown if the killer had a license for the rifle or killed his father, who owned the rifle, in order to obtain it from his father’s safe.
The Czech police are expected to do a professional job of investigating these murders. It will take a while to accomplish. The Czech Republic has very strict laws about possessing and carrying firearms, although they are some less restrictive in Europe.
Mass public murders occur all over the world. On a per capita basis, the United States is in the middle of the pack, according to crime with firearms expert John Lott.

If Anyone Needs to Explain Why They Need Guns, It’s the EPA

If Anyone Needs to Explain Why They Need Guns, It’s the EPA
(AP Photo/Matt Rourke)
We don’t talk a lot about the Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA, all that much. For the most part, they don’t get into guns or gun politics. There’s no reason for us to talk about them here, even if they are managing to do a lot of stupid stuff in general.
But, it seems, that the EPA isn’t completely out of the discussion on guns.
You see, while there are many who lament the Bruen decision because we no longer have to justify why we want to carry, some rather bizarre federal agencies, including the EPA, have been spending a lot of money on guns.
Now, I don’t have an issue with a federal regulatory agency having investigators in and of itself. Whether I like regulations or not, the current status quo is violating those regulations constitutes a crime, so it makes sense for the regulators to have investigators.
But we’re talking $620,000 spent in firearms and ammo for 259 employees. That’s nearly $2,400 spent per investigator, and to be frank, I’m not sure any of them actually need to be armed.
See, the EPA is a regulatory agency, not a law enforcement agency. If they find an arrest is needed, they should be able to call the local FBI field office and get them to go in. The FBI, of course, has plenty of guns already.
What bothers me is that people want folks like you and me to have to justify why we “need” guns, but thinks nothing of federal agencies buying firearms left and right.
As the above-linked post notes, other agencies are also stocking up on guns including the Social Security Administration and the Department of Labor. This isn’t new, though, since we’ve known for more than a decade about the Department of Education having had a SWAT Team.
The truth of the matter is that I want justification why every agency in the federal government seems to have guns purchased with our tax dollars. It’s not because I disbelieve in guns, but because every penny the federal government spends comes out of our pockets. They need to justify every dime, in my book, especially as so many federal agencies try to infringe on our right to have firearms.
Remember that the ATF started as a tax collection agency and morphed over time into federal law enforcement. If we don’t start demanding answers for this waste, we’re likely to see it happen elsewhere.
And the EPA is just one example.
After all, I’m not sure I want to trust guns to an agency that thought a mud puddle counted as “navigable waters” in any way, shape, or form.

Our enemies in the war-to-come are bold and brassy. Stocking up on ammo, spending quality time at the range. On our dime.

When You Don’t Get ‘States Rights’ or Second Amendment
By Tom Knighton | 10:29 AM on January 30, 2024
When You Don’t Get ‘States Rights’ or Second Amendment
AP Photo/Robert F. Bukaty, File
While we talk a lot about infringements to the Second Amendment, absolutely no part of the Bill of Rights has been so ignored as the Tenth Amendment. This is the amendment from which the term “states rights” comes from.
And, to be fair, states rights is a big thing these days. Just look at what’s going on at the Texas border as a prime illustration of just that.
But apparently, some really don’t understand that those states rights might actually be.
Because states rights are irrelevant to the discussion.
The Tenth Amendment, which lays the groundwork for states rights discussions, read:
Now, the reason no one batted an eye over the judicial smackdown in New Mexico is because the Second Amendment preserves the right to keep and bear arms explicitly, thus prohibiting gun control by the states.
As a result, states don’t have a right to pass gun control just like they don’t have a right to limit free speech or the worship of religion. In any of those other cases, a federal court stepping in to stop a right explicitly protected by the Constitution is perfectly just and right, even if you’re a firm believer in states rights.
While states have the right to do all sorts of other things, that’s not one of them.
What bugs me is that this post came from a libertarian website. It’s clear from the author’s words he didn’t approve of what Lujan Grisham did in New Mexico, that he doesn’t approve of infringements on the Second Amendment.
But he clearly didn’t bother to even try to understand the difference here.
If a state decides it wants a speed limit of 95 miles per hour on state highways, the states rights argument is that the federal government has no say in the matter. After all, there is nothing in the Constitution that says the feds have any control over state roads.
But the Constitution is pretty clear on the matter of gun control, even if a lot of anti-gunners refuse to see it.
This idea that the courts smacking down a governor’s unilateral decree prohibiting guns is contrary to the concept of states rights might well be the dumbest argument I’ve ever seen, and it didn’t come from an obvious anti-gunner.
Or was this a feeble attempt at a right-wing gotcha?
I’m a libertarian. I don’t consider myself right- or left-wing, so I have no dog in this particular fight. However, the only way this makes sense is if you’re desperately trying to hit the right on something, particularly the states rights argument, and you can’t come up with literally anything better.
So, the Second Amendment gets targeted.
Of course, when anti-gunners start trying to use this same argument to defend gun control, I’m curious how the author will feel then.
Not that it will matter because, as I said, the Second Amendment explicitly limits what states can do by the only method states rights supporters will concede they can be.

by Jim H?ft Jan. 30, 2024 12:00 pm23 Comments
Former President Donald Trump’s defense team is considering the possibility of requesting a new trial.
This development comes in the wake of revelations concerning the presiding judge’s past connections to Carroll’s legal team, raising questions about potential conflicts of interest.
The controversy centers on Bill Clinton-appointed Judge Lewis A. Kaplan, who has been overseeing the defamation case brought by Carroll against Trump.
The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Trump’s attorney, Alina Habba, expressed shock upon learning that both Judge Kaplan and Roberta Kaplan, who are not related, previously worked together at the same prestigious law firm in the early 1990s.
This connection was uncovered by The New York Post columnist Charles Gasparino, following a tip that Judge Kaplan was once a mentor to Roberta Kaplan.

From 1992 until 2016, Roberta Kaplan was associated with the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkin, Wharton & Garrison. During this time, Judge Lewis Kaplan also held a position as a partner at the same firm.
Judge Kaplan served as a partner until his appointment to the federal bench in 1994, while Roberta Kaplan worked there until 2016 before founding her own firm, Kaplan Hecker & Fink.

A Realist’s Guide to Grand Strategy
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has long been considered one of the finest institutions of scientific learning in the world. But few outside of academia know that MIT’s political science department, and especially its international relations (IR) program, is one of the best around. [Ironically] old-fashioned – some would wrongly say “unscientific” – in stressing history along with the more technical aspects of defense policy…
Posen depicts the current grand strategy debate as pitted between two main rivals: liberal hegemony and restraint. Liberal hegemony is an activist grand strategy that aims to assertively maintain U.S. dominance and the “unipolar moment” in the service of liberalism and national security.

Trump at 50%
Biden at 37.5%
Michelle Obama at 4.8%
I think if the DNC Machine throws in Mama-0bama, we have a much more serious threat.
It will make for a more believable steal then with Biden in office, but pulling a bait and switch like they are suppose to be planning will piss off a lot of people.
Some won’t like it, but others would be delighted.

NEW: Fani Willis’ Lover and Top Trump Prosecutor Nathan Wade Panics, Asks For Protective Order After Judge Unseals Divorce Records
by Cristina Laila Jan. 30, 2024 2:20 pm117 Comments
Fulton County DA Fani Willis’ lover Nathan Wade asked for a protective order after a judge unsealed his divorce records.
Nathan Wade’s estranged wife Jocelyn Wade fought to unseal and make public their divorce records.
Last Monday a Cobb County judge granted a motion to unseal the top Trump prosecutor Nathan Wade’s divorce records.
Judge Henry R. Thompson last week also issued a stay on Fani Willis’ deposition…for now. Willis previously tried to quash the subpoena. She was supposed to give a deposition last Tuesday.
Jocelyn Wade’s attorney told the judge last Monday that her client wants Fani Willis’ deposition *not as a Fulton County DA* but as “the alleged paramour of my client’s husband.
“I have questions and she needs to answer them,” Jocelyn Wade’s lawyer said in blistering remarks to the judge last week.

Ron DeSantis Calls for Ilhan Omar to Be Expelled from Congress, Stripped of American Citizenship and Deported

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) posted a call for Somali refugee Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) to be expelled from Congress, stripped of her American citizenship and deported over statements she made in a speech on Saturday to Somali-Americans in Minneapolis where, according to English translations, she said she was Somali first and said she represented her native Somalia in Congress. Omar claims her remarks were not translated correctly.
DeSantis posted to X Twitter over a video clip from Omar’s speech, “Expel from Congress, denaturalize and deport!”

When you absolutely, positively have to prevent a world war
Navigating radars, shwacking targets, preventing wars.
Monday 29 January update: This article has to get posted sometime, so I’m officially cutting it off with a target-set observation on the most recent attacks by Iran’s proxies, including the attack on Tower 22 at the border of Jordan and Syria (near the U.S. base at Al-Tanf). At least 47 Americans are now said to have been injured by the drone attack there on Sunday, and three soldiers were killed.
I’m not opposed to attacking the Iranian Qods Force commander, Esmail Qa’ani. The Qods Force directs the activities of the Iraqi militias, which presumably are behind the Tower 22 attack.
However, the cumulative and escalating attacks on U.S. interests should not be merely “retaliated” against. Iran is incapable of escalating this to an all-out regional war, and much the better course is to recognize the attacks so far as justifying a decisive, deterrent response. The U.S. should not try to imagine what would be “symmetrical” – we’re not Iran; that’s the point – but what would sit the regime’s butt down hard and prevent further provocation. Further provocation is what disrupts the whole region and makes Word War III more likely. Preventing that is absolutely what we should be doing. No boots on the ground required.

Iran’s biggest geomilitary treasures at the moment, as summarized at the very end of the article, are access to their Houthi proxies in Yemen, and access to their Iraqi militia proxies, via Iran’s land-bridge through Iraq and into Syria.
This is the time to knock Iran sideways in that regard. Cut Tehran off from the Houthis, degrade the Houthis’ operational capabilities, and take out everything Iran relies on to keep the land-bridge across Iraq in play, starting with all Iran-linked weapons stashes in Iraq and Eastern Syria. Leave it a smoking ruin so Iran’s regime can’t use it for the foreseeable future. Start by eliminating everything within rocket or drone range of U.S. bases.
There’s more in the article about that. For whether President Biden will actually respond in a useful way, see the final paragraphs (before the footnote).

Biden’s America: Migrant Mob Beats and Kicks New York City Cops Near Times Square (Video)
by Kristinn Taylor Jan. 30, 2024 9:00 pm186 Comments
New York City police released video on Tuesday evening of a mob of migrants beating and kicking two New York City police officers near a migrant center at Times Square on Saturday night. The officers were injured in the attack, but did not need to be hospitalized.
The video shows the mob initially complying with the two officers who were telling them to move along. But just after they disappear from view, the two officers come tumbling back in camera range, tussling with one of the migrants who is putting up a fight.
As the officers struggle to detain the migrant, his yellow jacket and shirt come off. Meanwhile his friends surround the cops, taking turns with cheap shots and kicks to the head to try to free their compadre, which they eventually succeed in doing as the man can be seen running away at the end of the video as the beaten cops are prone on the sidewalk.
