Reader’s Links for January 19th, 2024

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

For those interested, please check out https://vladtepesblog.substack.com/ as an another avenue of expression.

  1. Going to bed. LUNG CANCER UPDATE. Still no treatment plan.

So, the first doctor assigned to me and whom I never met said Radiotherapy was the treatment of choice, according to all docs in my file. I switched hospitals because of a negative attitude re Ivermectin and I wanted a second opinion.

I have no choice, I must tell them about Ivermectin.

Today, I was at another hospital and the doctor who had my file said ‘SURGERY’.

    Was he ever angry!

With his pen hard on paper, he wanted to know where I got the Ivermectin from? A friend, family… a business?

Because I felt such a strong anger emanating from him, I had no choice but to tell him about the immediate benefits of the Ivermectin: a clear and clean tongue, turbo-inhalator only once a day instead of twice, I can keep my bra on all day for 14 hours without pain instead of removing it after four hours, no nose blowing, and no coughing… Amazing stuff. And how does he explain this?

On my return trip back home, I had a car waiting for me with two lung cancer patients. When I told them SURGERY was the diagnosis, they both jumped, stunned as their cancer is/was double the size of mine. One is five radiotherapy sessions and immunotherapy for the other, and both are doing well.

So, why surgery which is very rare for such a tiny nodule, as in my case? And the PET scan would have revealed if the cancer had spread; it would appear not.

Anyway, that’s where I’m at, still going nowhere because of the hated IVERMECTIN use and the doctor who is the Chief of the Oncology Dept spent only 20 minutes with me. He actually left the office when I mentioned Ivermectin and I could hear a sudden low laughing a few doors away.

    Welcome to healthcare in Canada.

P.S.: I’ll be requesting a phone call from the oncologist to explain the surgery decision. But still, it should have been explained in the office.

    • You’ve got guts, Sassy.

“The most beautiful people wear their hearts on their sleeves, and their souls in their smiles.”

    • Maybe they need to. biopsy it?

“cancer” is too general term to be useful, especially when comparing treatment protocols

Ivermectin is the standard of practice in some medical care settings, but it’s not your job to share this, so stay in your lane and find a different way to evaluate surgical oncologists, so that you can start diagnosis and treatment.

I’ve seen (in relatives) that a growing benign tumor mights be too big to safely do surgery. But your physician’s job is to explaon this to so that you feel comfortable with your choices.

A good doc supports you in getting a 2nd or 3rd opinion or at least pretends to support you. Don’t be afraid to pay the $500 out of pocket for another opinion, so long as you can get something in writing. A good physician might even share with you the name of a doc in another city so that there is no conflict of interest. (Me: Two docs in my city recommended prophylactic mastectomy and both said don’t come back until you’re ready for that. I made a beeline to a cancer center in another state, and am now blessed to be a patient in a program that does feequent surveillance and bases its protocol on its large patoent population, rather than what insurance considers the standard of care.)

Notice that I didn’t spend my time arguing with anyone! Maybe considering getting the ICD code for your diagnosis and its name and start calling different cancer hospitals to find out which treatment protocols each uses. Expect that the new provider will repeat some tests in order to confirm the dx or to rule out other possible dx’s. Try to balance how much you value bedside manner over surgical skill because you may not get both.

    • My bad– you said you have no medical choice when you are giving your health history for medications you take. Maybe your doc give it to you for scabies– you’ll ask him or her why after the appt with the oncilogist. There is a medical subspecialty in the US called integrative oncology. You might be able to call a training program to ask where its graduates practice.

  2. It’s as cold as the dickens this morning up here in Dystopia.

Dickens rhymes with chickens. I believe in chickens, but poultry is a sham. Sham. Sham.

We’re drowning in our own intelligence. Going down. Where do we go from here? How to resurface? How to swim when drowning in intelligence?

Wisdom is the way. Paper geniuses blaze retarded the path to destruction. Common is Nature’s sense. Tap into it. It’s what you know.

We have been trying to self educate the lines of effort imposed by paper geniuses. Struggling to keep up. Islam, communism, economics, immunology, climate, dialectics, battlespace information warfare…always a step behind and at this rate always will be. Maybe it’s time to lead. Too simple. Right.

Wisdom is what we know. We cannot drown in it, but they can. Paper people cannot swim in wisdom. Soggy dogs. Klaus will sink without a stroke. Gates is a limp noodle.

Men were men and women were women
Despite the noise it was a given
Nature’s way was what she knew
    Surviving northern winds that blew
And then came gods who said they saw
That Nature’s way was somehow flawed
So pray to us they tried to say
    We’re the smartest ones today
Follow us right up to heaven
For Mother Nature is getting a sex change.

She looked and laughed but not too hard
The joke was old she’d seen before
So shook she did the people’s tree
And out came freedom Nature’s way
    Wisdom won.

  4. No, The Constitution Does Not Allow Children Born Of Non-Citizens To Become President Of The United States
    by Paul Ingrassia Jan. 19, 2024 7:45 am682 Comments

The following analysis is a detailed response to critiques of an article I wrote earlier this month that garnered national attention, and was even Truthed by President Trump, shedding light on Nikki Haley’s ineligibility to serve as President or Vice President under the Constitution. My article was published originally on my Substack and American Greatness, and was titled “The Constitution Absolutely Prohibits Nikki Haley From Being President Or Vice President.”

    By Paul Ingrassia
As A Threshold Matter, Nikki Haley, The Daughter Of Two Non-Citizens, Must Provie Proof That Her Parents Were Lawful Residents When She Was Born

As we head into the New Hampshire Republican primary, the presidential field has consolidated around three major candidates: Donald Trump, the frontrunner by wide margins, Nikki Haley, and Ron DeSantis. With Vivek Ramaswamy’s distant fourth place finish in Iowa and subsequent endorsement of the 45th President, Trump’s edge in New Hampshire looks insurmountable. Recent polling suggests that he commands an outright majority of all New Hampshire GOP voters, meaning that even if all the remaining candidates dropped out and rallied around a single challenger to Trump, their collective effort would still fail – without, perhaps, outside help from Democrats and Independents. With recent reports that Ron DeSantis’ War Room has been dissolved, and all the staff being laid off in the aftermath of Iowa’s disaster, it seems to have proven true Nikki Haley’s post-Iowa declaration that the Republican Primary has now become “a two person race.”

  5. Report: Michelle Obama Angling to Replace Joe Biden for President
    by Kristinn Taylor Jan. 18, 2024 5:00 pm3281 Comments

An article by New York Post legendary gossip columnist Cindy Adams reports Barack and Michelle Obama are angling to replace Joe Biden with former First Lady Michelle as the Democrats’ 2024 presidential nominee.

Obama world was rocked when Donald Trump short-circuited the Obama revolution to remake America when he defeated would-be Obama successor Hillary Clinton in 2016 and has taken merciless revenge on President Trump ever since. Barack Obama is thought by many to be the behind the scenes power of the Biden presidency. But with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris having some of the worst polling numbers for incumbents seeking a second White House term and Trump leading Biden in most polls, it appears the Obamas are quietly laying the groundwork for Michelle to step in and save the Obama revolution.

Adams reports Michelle Obama has surveyed “Dem biggies” about her potential candidacy and in 2022 reportedly told a gathering of CEOs in New York City she was running. Gossip? Rumor? Or trial balloon leaks to gauge public support and Democratic reaction?

Late baby boomer Michelle, who turned 60 on Wednesday, is a generation younger than the pre-boomer, dementia-addled, 81-year-old Biden.

A group of 17 retired military officials is warning that Joe Biden’s hard push for electric vehicles is putting America’s national security at risk.

Among their chief concerns is that EVs increase America’s reliance on China, but there are other potential problems as well.

Biden and Democrats have been actively working to destroy the fossil fuel industry since the moment Biden took office. They are beholden to the climate change activists of their party’s base who are absolutely obsessed with the issue.

Three former attorneys general, including Bill Barr who is not even supporting Trump in 2024, have filed a brief insisting that Trump is constitutionally qualified to appear on the ballot.

This move comes as a response to the efforts in Colorado, Maine and other states where leftists have sought to remove Trump from the 2024 ballot.

The argument of these former AGs was drafted with the help of law professors and is rock solid.

  8. Paxton Responds to Shelby Park Cease and Desist

By Justin DeSales – Staff Writer

    Jan 18, 2024

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Security’s General Counsel Jonathan Meyer on Wednesday in response to a cease-and-desist letter addressing the state’s seizure of Shelby Park in Eagle Pass.

The cease and desist initially sent to Paxton revolves around the Texas National Guard seizing Shelby Park due to claims that the federal government has chosen to “perpetuate illegal crossings,” as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

It stated that Texas would have until January 17 to confirm that it would allow Border Patrol access to the park, noting that a failure to comply would result in the DHS pursuing legal action.

However, Paxton stated in his January 17 letter to Meyer that the state “will continue utilizing its constitutional authority to defend her territory,” adding that he plans to “continue defending those lawful efforts in court.”

Paxton told Meyer that the cease and desist “rests on a more fundamental misunderstanding of federal law and the role of sovereign States within our constitutional order.”

“This much is clear from your invocation of a federal statute that gives U.S. Border Patrol warrantless access to land within 25 miles of the border, but only ‘for the purpose of patrolling the border to prevent the illegal entry of aliens into the United States,’” wrote the attorney general.

“President Biden has ordered your agency to do the exact opposite, in keeping with his open-borders campaign promise. There is not even a pretense that you are trying to prevent the illegal entry of aliens.”

Paxton stated in his letter that “Texas has lawyers, too” and that Meyer should advise “clients at DHS to do their job and follow the law” rather than relying on the U.S. Department of Justice.

Just one day after the deadline outlined in the cease and desist, the Texas National Guard proceeded to install additional razor wire along the Shelby Park border.

Fox News Correspondent Matt Finn posted a video on social media showing state law enforcement officers appearing to install the additional wire on January 18.

Similarly, Collin Rugg, co-owner of Trending Politics, posted a video on Thursday showing Texas Department of Public Safety officers arresting unlawful migrants.

DPS Lt. Chris Olivarez has also confirmed that law enforcement officers have begun “enforcing criminal trespass on single adult men & women.”

Texas’ seizure of Shelby Park is one of the many steps that Texas has taken to secure the border amid an influx of unlawful migrants, including the implementation of buoys in the Rio Grande meant to deter people from swimming across.

This barrier also prompted legal action to be taken by the federal government, in which the DOJ alleges that “Texas has flouted federal law by installing a barrier in the Rio Grande without obtaining the required federal authorization,” as reported by The Dallas Express.

The most recent development in the case involves Paxton securing an en banc rehearing by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, which temporarily overrules the split decision issued by the same court declaring that the buoys are an “obstruction” and must be removed from the river, according to a news release sent to The Dallas Express.

  9. In Yemen, Iran moves to occupy the strategic center

Compulsion to attack – the radical Iranian regime’s version of “responsibility to protect”?

Another quick-look on the fast-moving events in the Middle East.

This article, like the previous one of 15 January 2024, will mainly quote from other correspondence. I make this point to explain the informality of the language and composition, which I am not cleaning up. The points being made are important, and can be made effectively even in on-the-fly format.

To briefly introduce the topic, the political condition of Yemen – reduced as it often is to warring factions, with no central government in control – is a key element affecting the stability of the whole region. The conditions of today, with the Houthis, backed by Iran, attacking third parties, can be exploited well beyond the level at which Tehran’s regime is currently exploiting them.

That is the main danger of the current situation. It lies behind the threat to shipping, as it lay for several years behind the threat of Houthi missiles and drones to Saudi Arabia. As I pointed out in an email excerpted on Monday, the “Yemen” problem needs to be addressed by U.S. and regional leadership with negotiated pacification and unification, at least long enough to neutralize it in the Hamas-Israel crisis.

Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) announced that the Third Circuit Court of Appeals has struck down Pennsylvania’s laws that prevent 18-to-20-year-old adults from carrying a loaded firearm outside of the home for self-defense. The opinion in Lara v. Evanchick can be viewed at FPCLegal.org.

“It is undisputed that 18-to-20-year-olds are among ‘the people’ for other constitutional rights such as the right to vote, freedom of speech, peaceable assembly, government petitions, and the right against unreasonable government searches and seizures,” wrote Judge Kent A. Jordan, author of the majority opinion. “As we recently observed in Range, there is ‘no reason to adopt an inconsistent reading of “the people.”’ Indeed, wholesale exclusion of 18-to-20-year-olds from the scope of the Second Amendment would impermissibly render ‘the constitutional right to bear arms in public for self-defense … ‘a second-class right, subject to an entirely different body of rules than the other Bill of Rights guarantees.’”

“We applaud the Third Circuit’s decision in this case confirming that 18-to-20-year-old adults have the same right to armed self-defense as any other adult,” said Cody J. Wisniewski, FPC Action Foundation’s Vice President and General Counsel, and counsel for FPC. “If it wasn’t for 18-to-20-year-old adults being empowered to exercise their right to defend themselves, their loved ones, and their communities, our Nation wouldn’t exist–it would be a deep perversion of the Constitution to prevent them the same right today.”

FPC is joined in this lawsuit by the Second Amendment Foundation.

Connecticut Law Allows Defense Against Bears, Florida Considers Similar Bill

Connecticut Law Allowing Defense Against Bears, Florida Considers Similar Bill iStock-648818154

Connecticut has passed a law allowing bears to be shot if they are or are about to injure people or pets or enter a building occupied by people. Florida is considering a similar but broader measure.

As black bear populations have increased across the United States, more people and bear conflicts are occurring. Before 1960, bears had been considered a problem to be taken care of. In most states, they could be shot as pests. There was a legacy understanding – bears make for bad neighbors. Bears would kill your pigs, destroy your apple orchards, and your bee hives. Before 1950, a large majority of people understood bears could make the difference between hunger and plenty. If they had not experienced farm life themselves, their parents and grandparents had. In the 2020s, people in suburbia are re-learning what their great-grandparents knew a hundred years ago. Bears make bad neighbors. From Little House in the Big Woods:

Pa owned a pig. It ran wild in the Big Woods, living on acorns and nuts and roots. Now he caught it and put it in a pen made of logs, to fatten. He would butcher it as soon as the weather was cold enough to keep the pork frozen.

Once in the middle of the night Laura woke up and heard the pig squealing. Pa jumped out of bed, snatched his gun from the wall, and ran outdoors. Then Laura heard the gun go off, once, twice.

When Pa came back, he told what had happened. He had seen a big black bear standing beside the pigpen. The bear was reaching into the pen to grab the pig, and the pig was running and squealing. Pa saw this in the starlight and he fired quickly. But the light was dim and in his haste he missed the bear. The bear ran away into the woods, not hurt at all.

Laura was sorry Pa did not get the bear.

Laura was sorry because bear meat was very good to eat. People today have difficulty believing having enough to eat was a significant worry for most people before 1900.

In April of 2023, a bear in Connecticut was killed by state agents after breaking into numerous homes in Connecticut. Bear problems have been increasing in the state for many years, along with an increasing bear population. The legislature crafted a statute to restore the historical norm. If a bear posed an imminent threat to people or pets the people could kill the bear. The bill passed in June of 2023. It went into effect on October 1, 2023. From ct.gov.com:

    (c) Nothing in this section shall be construed to prevent any person from using deadly physical force to kill a bear if such person reasonably believes that a bear is: (1) Inflicting or is about to inflict great bodily harm to a human, (2) injuring or killing such person’s pet that is otherwise controlled in accordance with any applicable provision of the general statutes or any regulation adopted pursuant to such a provision, or (3) entering a building occupied by persons.

Florida is considering a similar bill, SB632:

379.40411 Taking of bears; use of lethal force in defense of person.—

(1)(a)The use of lethal force to take a bear without a permit or authorization required under this chapter is justified if a person feels threatened and believes that using such force is necessary to protect himself or herself on his or her private property.

The proposed Florida statute is more comprehensive than the Connecticut statute. Bears, which spend a lot of time in suburban neighborhoods become serious problems. The Florida bear population has grown significantly. It was over 4,350 in 2016, roughly double what it was in 2006. With a natural increase, the bear population is expected to be over seven thousand in 2024.
Humans decide how many problems created by bears they are willing to tolerate in different areas. Black bear populations in Florida and Connecticut are not threatened. They are growing.

Eventually, there will be sufficient conflicts for suburban problems to overcome Disney programming. Pressure will be exerted on the legislature to allow people to protect themselves, their property, and their pets. Bears are fine in their place. Like all animals, it is up to humans to decide what places bears are allowed to occupy.

  12. FANI FIGHTS BACK: DA Willis Attacks Ex-Wife of Lover Nathan Wade After Stealing Her Man — Fani Now Accuses Former Wife of “Interfering” with Her DOJ-Backed Trump Case
    by Jim Hoft Jan. 19, 2024 11:45 am201 Comments

Last Friday,Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee has slated a mid-February hearing to address explosive allegations against Soros-funded District Attorney Fani Willis, The Epoch Times reported.

The court acknowledged the need to deliberate on claims that Willis engaged in an “improper” use of funds and maintained an alleged “scandalous” affair with Nathan Wade, the prosecutor Willis hired to lead Trump’s investigation.

Michael Roman, a former Trump campaign official and co-defendant in the racketeering case led by Willis, moved to accuse both Willis and Wade of misconduct.

The motion, spearheaded by Roman’s attorney, Ashleigh Merchant, alleges an “improper, clandestine personal relationship” between Willis and Wade, potentially undermining the integrity of the prosecution against Trump and others.

Fani Willis was earlier subpoenaed to testify in the divorce proceedings of Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor she appointed to go after former President Donald Trump and his associates.

  15. Religious Themes Banned in Jill Biden’s White House Easter Egg Contest for National Guard Children
    by Kristinn Taylor Jan. 19, 2024 12:15 pm51 Comments

Jill Biden is sponsoring a White House “Youth Art” Easter egg decorating contest for children of National Guard servicemembers that bans religious themed eggs, even though Easter is a religious holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ–and the contest announcement states the eggs will be displayed during the Christian and Jewish observances of Easter and Passover.

The youth artists are encouraged to submit designs that reflect their daily lives as children of servicemembers but may not feature “religious symbols, overtly religious themes.” The contest rules state entries “must be consistent with the image and values of Sponsor”, Jill Biden.

The contest was started in 2021 by Jill Biden. Winning designs will be hand painted on real hen eggs and be displayed in the White House colonnade with the names of the winning child artists.

In addition to barring religious themes on the Easter eggs, political, racist, obscene or discriminatory content is also barred, as is content disparaging the sponsor, i.e., Jill Biden and the Biden administration. Surprisingly, the rules state descriptions of the entries “must be primarily in English.”

  16. Nikki Haley DID cheat on husband Michael – had affairs with her comms consultant and a MARRIED South Carolina lobbyist before she became governor, sworn affidavits and new witnesses claim

Presidential candidate Nikki Haley falsely denied cheating on her husband when she was accused of engaging in two extramarital affairs during her gubernatorial campaign, multiple sources who worked with her claim.

New witnesses have come forward telling DailyMail.com that Haley’s denials of two alleged 2008 affairs are false, and that the supposed trysts were brazen and widely known among South Carolina politicos.

Will Folks, 49, and Larry Marchant, 61, both signed affidavits in 2010 alleging they had a sexual relationship with the then-South Carolina lawmaker, before she went on to become governor.

  17. Florida Board of Education bans DEI on college campuses, removes sociology core course
‘Students should be focused on learning the truth about our country instead of being radicalized by woke ideologies in our college classrooms,’ the state’s education commissioner said.
    Tarah Jean
    USA TODAY Network – Florida

    Goodbye, DEI.

SEOUL (Reuters) -North Korea has conducted a test of its underwater nuclear weapons system in a protest against this week’s joint military drills by South Korea, the United States and Japan, state media KCNA said on Friday.

The test of the “Haeil-5-23” system, a name North Korea has given to its nuclear-capable underwater attack drones, was carried out by the defence ministry’s think tank in the waters off its east coast, the report said, without specifying a date.

The ministry’s unnamed spokesman accused the United States, South Korea and Japan of “getting frantic” with military exercises, warning of “catastrophic consequences.”

The three countries’ navies held their three-day regular drills until Wednesday, alongside the U.S. aircraft carrier Carl Vinson, as part of efforts to improve their responses to Pyongyang’s evolving nuclear and missile threats.

“Our army’s underwater nuke-based countering posture is being further rounded off and its various maritime and underwater responsive actions will continue to deter the hostile military manoeuvres of the navies of the U.S. and its allies,” the North Korean ministry spokesman said in a statement, according to KCNA.

North Korean state television has aired previous atmospheric explosion tests, which have been monitored by U.S. and South Korean authorities, but the reported underwater weapon has not been independently verified.

Later on Friday, South Korea’s defence ministry issued a warning against the North’s recent series of weapons tests, calling for an immediate halt.

“Our military is thoroughly prepared for North Korea’s provocations under a solid joint defence posture with the United States,” it said in a statement, vowing “overwhelming” responses if North Korea stages a direct provocation.

Japan’s foreign minister Yoko Kamikawa, when asked about the North’s latest test at a news conference, declined to comment on “each and every one of those activities” but pledged continued efforts to curb its weapons development.

Dubbed “Haeil”, which means tsunami, the new drone system was first reportedly tested in March 2023, and state media said it was intended to make sneak attacks in enemy waters and destroy naval strike groups and major operational ports by creating a large radioactive wave through an underwater explosion.

The latest reported underwater test came days after North Korea fired a new intermediate-range, solid-fuel hypersonic missile, which Washington, Seoul and Tokyo condemned as a serious violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions.

The three allies’ nuclear envoys gathered in Seoul on Thursday, also condemning Pyongyang’s arms trade with Russia and increasingly hostile rhetoric, just as North Korea’s foreign minister visited Moscow and met with President Vladimir Putin.

  20. North Korea Tests Exotic Underwater Nuclear Drone, Claims It Can Create “Radioactive Tsunami”

North Korea says it has tested a nuclear-capable underwater attack drone, which some analysts have dubbed an ‘exotic system’ given there’s not much known about it, in response to fresh naval exercises involving the United States off the peninsula. The testing of the “Haeil-5-23” system occurred of the country’s east coast.

Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Friday warned of “catastrophic consequences” for the US and its “followers”, also given the joint naval drills with South Korea also had Japan’s participation.

“Our army’s underwater nuke-based countering posture is being further rounded off, and its various maritime and underwater responsive actions will continue to deter the hostile military maneuvers of the navies of the US and its allies,” KCNA described.

While South Korean officials have in the recent past described that the north’s claims concerning the new weapon are exaggerated, it has gained the public’s attention given Pyongyang has touted the weapon’s ability for surprise attacks unleashing mass destruction by generating a “radioactive tsunami” through a large underwater explosion.

Reuters describes, “Dubbed ‘Haeil’, which means tsunami, the new drone system was first reportedly tested in March 2023, and state media said it was intended to make sneak attacks in enemy waters and destroy naval strike groups and major operational ports by creating a large radioactive wave through an underwater explosion.”

America’s descent into madness and back
    By S.R. Piccoli

It’s become almost a cliché that the United States of America, once a shining beacon of freedom to the world, is increasingly becoming less of a model and more of a bad experiment of political culture, a country that is losing its moral compass and is becoming more and more dysfunctional with each passing year. Until some time ago such kinds of observations were typical of left-wing intellectuals and activists, but in the last few months/years they have become bipartisan, though of course for opposite reasons.

One of the maîtres à penser—probably the most prominent one—of this new approach to understanding the evolution—or, better, involution—of American political culture is Victor Davis Hanson, a senior fellow in military history at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and a professor emeritus of classics at California State University, Fresno. A good summary of his views on how America has changed in these past few years is a recent American Greatness article that explains how, by whom and for what purpose American civilization has been turned upside down, which is why “we have a rendezvous soon with the once unthinkable and unimaginable.” In the last six months, he says, we have borne witness to a series of iconic moments evidencing a self-induced collapse of American culture. “The signs are everywhere,” he explains, “and cover the gamut of politics, the economy, education, social life, popular culture, foreign policy, and the military.” Although he doesn’t explicitly say it, the implicit message is that America is descending into a sort of madness.

How else can we explain why the Biden administration fled from Afghanistan, leaving behind billions of dollars of advanced military weaponry and equipment in the hands of Taliban? Or why has the Pentagon revolutionized the entire system of recruitment, promotions, and tenure in the armed forces, “by predicating them in large part on race, gender, and sexual orientation rather than merit or battlefield efficacy?”

But the list of devastating effects of this politically induced “madness” is very long. To give some other examples:

‘Their’ Democracy: Tyranny Comes to the US
    By Nancy Van Deest

Spanning across generations, Americans have done extraordinary things during uncertain times. My father’s genealogy is rich with such memoirs. My great (x6) grandfather was a colonel in the Berkshire Milita during the Revolutionary War. My great (x5) grandmother was part of the runaway scrape when the Alamo fell. During the Civil War, my great, great grandfather fought for the Union in the Ohio Infantry, 81st Regiment. My grandfather’s long service in the Army included WWII, and my father completed over 20 years in the Army. Perhaps the remnants of their DNA combined with growing up on military bases contributed to my deep commitment to our Constitution, our heritage, and the people who sacrificed so much.

Consequently, I am angered that Americans are being conditioned to loathe our shared history and the very people who made our modern country possible. Even our founding documents have been labeled potentially harmful. Make no mistake: these actions are happening because of unscrupulous politicians, bureaucrats, and others who are intentionally destroying our nation’s heritage to obtain greater power, control, and wealth.

In place of the constitutional republic gifted to us by our founders, these charlatans promote “their” democracy. Even though our founders rejected direct democracy because it leads to tyranny through mob rule, our elites have managed to convince Americans otherwise. As a result, in pursuit of their democracy, our political class has amassed unsustainable national debt and created an enormous welfare state. While declaring unity, our democracy cheerleaders encourage racial animosity. One way is by falsely claiming white supremacy as our country’s greatest threat. To combat their perceived scourge of heritage America, they forced DIE and other race-based initiatives. They supported violent aggression by BLM and ANTIFA while vigorously pursuing and prosecuting Trump-supporters. At the same time, they hid evidence of J6 defendants’ innocence and conspired to persecute their political rivals. They improperly used government agencies to monitor Catholic churches and parental groups. They used federal money to coerce social media to inhibit free speech and abused their government positions to intimidate much of the public into taking an experimental injection. They justified their unconstitutional actions under the banner of promoting their democracy. Furthermore, in defending their democracy, they weaponized government by asserting national security.

Their democracy has also advanced the invasion taking place at our southern border. In F.Y. 2023, an astonishing 2.5 million illegals, that we know about, illegally gained entry to the U.S. Using various means, the Biden administration enabled the assault. One way was refusing to uphold its constitutional du

  24. Fani Willis Accuses Wife of Alleged Lover of Being an Adulterer and Political Conspirator

In a surprising filing, Fulton County’s district attorney Fani Willis has accused the estranged wife of her alleged lover of conspiring to undermine the Trump prosecution by seeking her deposition in the messy divorce case of Nathan Wade. Willis, again, does not deny having an affair with Wade, who she appointed lead prosecutor in the case. Instead, she accuses Joycelyn Wade of an affair that broke up the marriage and suggests that she is coordinating with Trump forces to interfere with the prosecution.

Willis is accused of major ethical violations in appointing her alleged lover to the position as she went on lavish vacations with him. She previously denounced those raising obvious ethical concerns as being racist due to the fact that both Willis and Wade are black. She did not, however, deny the intimate relationship or the allegation that Wade paid for her vacation expenses.

At issue in the filing is the demand for a pretrial deposition in the divorce case of Nathan and Joycelyn Wade on January 23. Willis’ counsel leveled a full attack on the motivations and associations of Joycelyn Wade. She accused Joycelyn Wade of having an adulterous relationship with a longtime friend of Nathan Wade’s.

Willis’ counsel Cinque Axam then added that Joycelyn Wade “has conspired with interested parties in the criminal election interference case to use the civil discovery process to annoy, embarrass and oppress District Attorney Willis.”

The filing noted that the allegations against Willis were used by Trump codefendant Mike Roman to seek judicial review and remedy for the alleged conflict of interest. A hearing has now been set by the court for Feb. 28th.

Willis bases her conspiracy theory on the fact that, on January 8, Roman’s filing was made public and on the same day, she was served a subpoena and there was a move to unseal the Wades’ divorce case.

That certainly makes this all a bit different from the usual “other woman” element in the divorce case. However, it is not a smart move. The level of animus and vexatious language in the filing only magnifies the concern over the Willis-Wade relationship. By attacking the estranged wife of her alleged lover, Willis only increases concerns over the professional separation between Willis and Wade in making decisions in the case.

Accusing the estranged wife of your alleged lover of being a political conspirator is about as compelling as accusing people raising ethical concerns of being virulent racists.

For example, if Wade were to exceed his authority or act unprofessionally in the case, Willis would be forced to take action against not only an alleged lover but someone she has had to defend as the ideal choice for the position. Their personal relationship would presumably weigh in the balance in any supervisory review or decision.

Likewise, if Willis was taken on vacations by Wade and their relationship is continuing, the termination of his contract could have an economic impact on Willis.

In the end, the accusatory motion was a mistake in my view. Willis could have objected to the necessity of the deposition on factual and legal grounds (as she does) without escalating the rhetoric and recriminations

  25. Does Khamenei Want Iran to Be Bombed?

Does Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei want the United States to attack Iran? It may sound counterintuitive, but Iranian behavior has changed in recent months. For decades, the Islamic Republic attacked Americans, but eschewed responsibility.

Revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini blamed the 1979 attack on the US embassy on radical students unconnected to his regime, no matter how they coordinated behind-the-scenes. Iranian proxy groups then bombed the American embassies in Kuwait and Lebanon and the US Marine barracks in Beirut. The FBI investigation into the 1996 Khobar Towers attack fingered the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), though President Bill Clinton recalled the findings to prevent any impediment to his rapprochement drive.

Prior to the 2003 Iraq War, the Iranian government pledged non-interference. Instead, the Revolutionary Guards inserted thousands of its officers and Iraqi militiamen they trained. Over subsequent years, Iran conspired directly or by proxy to murder and maim hundreds of Americans utilizing explosively-formed projectiles. Through it all, both Republican and Democratic administrations avoided responding directly against Iran, instead targeting proxies in Syria, Iraq, and now Yemen. The only exception to this was President Donald Trump’s elimination of Quds Force chief Qassem Soleimani on January 3, 2020.

Traditionally, Iran sought to attack its adversaries while maintaining enough deniability to avoid accountability. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is a dictator by omission rather than commission: He instructs his agents only about what they cannot do rather than risk any smoking gun on an order to attack.

In recent weeks, however, Khamenei has removed any doubt about where attacks originate. Iranian drones attacked Indian Ocean shipping directly. Iranian support and supply for Houthis is beyond doubt. Iran launched ballistic missiles at the Iraqi Kurdish capital Erbil to compel Iraqi Kurdish authorities to distance themselves from Washington. The IRGC has promised Hamas anti-aircraft missiles. On Tuesday, Iran acknowledged launching missiles at Baluch militants in Pakistan. Iranian authorities shed no tears that Pakistan today attacked inside Iran.

Why has Tehran started claiming credit for such attacks? The answer may be that Khamenei feels he is losing control.

Khamenei is weak. As the regime prepares to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in two weeks, the future of the Islamic Republic is uncertain. First, there is Khamenei himself. He is about to turn 85. A 1981 assassination attempt partially paralyzed him. A decade ago, he had prostate cancer surgery and, just two years ago, a sudden health crisis prompted his plane to make an emergency landing. There is no clear successor. Civil war in Iran could loom.

Khamenei fears declining revolutionary fervor among youth. In a July 12, 2023, speech, for example, he described a war between the Islamic front and liberal democracy, and lamented how the internet and satellite television today inspire young Iranians more than the mosque. On December 16, 2019, he complained to Iranian veterans about declining revolutionary fervor.

The Islamic Republic has been here before. One day before Iranian revolutionaries seized the US embassy, Steven Erlanger, at the time a young journalist who would one day rise to become the New York Times‘s chief diplomatic correspondent filed a dispatch eulogizing the Islamic Republic. “The religious phase is drawing to a close even as it is becoming formalized,” he explained.

The embassy crisis helped Khomeini purge the revolutionary coalition of all but the most radical religious fringe. Iraqi President Saddam Hussein’s subsequent invasion of Iran likely saved the Islamic Revolution. Iranians had lost faith in clerical dictatorship, but they were proud nationalists. Iraq’s aggression enabled Khomeini to wrap ordinary Iranians in a nationalist flag, especially given Saddam’s cynical efforts to play the ethic card in Iran. The war years and crisis allowed Khomeini to ingrain revolutionary structures in a way he could never during peacetime.

Khamenei today likely recognizes he needs an external crisis. He knows President Joe Biden would never invade Iran as George W. Bush did Iraq, but if he could goad Washington into even a single strike on Iran proper, he might snatch victory from the jaws of defeat and distract the Iranian public from the Islamic Republic’s failings.

The danger then becomes that Khamenei believes he has a win-win strategy: He can humiliate Americans reluctant to respond, but also benefit from retaliation. An astute White House could thread the needle: Hit Iran in its purse with “Maximum pressure.” Target Khamenei directly and declare open season on any Iranian military official outside Iran itself.

  26. Director of Modesto LGBTQ+ organization among those arrested in child predator sting

The executive director of the Rainbow Resource Center, a leading Modesto-based LGBTQ+ support center, was confirmed to be one of 17 men arrested on suspicion of eliciting sex with a minor.

Gerad Slayton, 42, was arrested during a sting operation conducted by the Turlock Police Department set up to catch predators allegedly seeking to meet minors with the intent to have sex with them.

Slayton recently was appointed executive director of the Rainbow Center, a local nonprofit organization that provides resources to LGBTQ+ members of all ages. It particularly offers resources related to mental and physical health.

The Rainbow Center released a statement on Facebook saying Slayton’s alleged actions happened outside working hours and did not happen on its premises. Slayton has never previously been charged with a felony in Stanislaus County, according to court records.

The Rainbow Center statement expressed a willingness to be transparent about the arrest and holding itself accountable, saying that Slayton’s arrest needed “to be properly addressed” and that it was “committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive and respectful environment.”

“We want to assure our community that we take these allegations with the utmost seriousness. [Slayton’s] actions do not represent our organization’s values or mission,” read the statement. “In accordance with our unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of conduct and integrity, we are addressing the issue within the rainbow resource center.

“We acknowledge the impact that the situation may have had on the community. We understand that trust is earned through consistent and accountable actions. We are dedicated to rebuilding any trust that may have been affected by the situation. As an organization that is at the forefront of advocacy and support for the LGBTQ+ community, our actions must reflect our dedication to these principles.”

Alex Gutierrez, The Rainbow Resource Center’s interim executive director, told The Modesto Bee the organization “didn’t do anything wrong” and maintained the stance that Slayton’s alleged actions were “personal decisions” that happened “off the clock.”

“We’re obviously ready for for whatever happens, but, you know, this was a personal decision made by one of our employees and it’s unfortunate… So, it is, you know, very impactful for us. We are trying to get through it,” Gutierrez said.

Gutierrez said that Slayton had been executive director for six weeks before his arrest and was part of the Rainbow Resource Center since July 2022. There had been no complaints of any kind toward Slayton, according to Gutierrez

“He was new in that position and was working mostly with kind of staff roles,” said Gutierrez. “So I can’t say that he didn’t have, you know, any contact with people, with peers in general, you know, not to say zero contact, but we have definitely other layers of [contact] when you first come in, you don’t obviously meet the executive director.”

The majority of those whom the center helps are between the ages 25 and 35, but do include minors, according to Gutierrez.
    Turlock PD’s operation

The operation was planned for months, involved several agencies and was helmed by Turlock police Detective Gina Giovacchini. She said undercover officers pretended to be children between the ages of 13 and 17.

“We got hits on every age,” said Giovacchini.

The operation used several messaging and dating apps to lure suspects to a location. Giovacchini said an officer, pretending to be a minor, would get the suspect to agree to meet in person with the intention of having sex.

As far as the scale and intent of the operation, it was the first of its kind for the Turlock Police Department, Giovacchini said.

Slayton pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of meeting with a minor for the purpose of engaging in lewd and lascivious behavior. His next court appearance is an early case management conference scheduled for Jan. 29 at the Stanislaus County Superior Courthouse.

The UK has tested a new laser weapon for shooting down drones.

The Ministry of Defense says the weapon uses a high-power beam that travels at the speed of light.

It could help defend ships and armored vehicles against drone swarms.

Britain has tested a powerful new laser weapon that can take out swarms of drones, the Ministry of Defence says.

The DragonFire laser weapon fired at several aerial targets for the first time at a range in the Hebrides in Scotland, a press release said.

The Times reported that politicians in the UK were now hoping to speed up its deployment following growing attacks by Houthi rebels against ships in the Red Sea.

“These trials have seen us take a huge step forward in realizing the potential opportunities and understanding the threats posed by directed energy weapons,” said Paul Hollinshead, the chief executive of the MoD’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory.

The MoD hasn’t disclosed the range of the weapon but says its accuracy is so great it’s equivalent to being able to hit a coin at a distance of a kilometer (0.6 miles).

  28. Rutgers University Students Masked Like Terrorists Issue Demands Over School’s Stance on Israel (VIDEO)

Rutgers University students who are part of the campus chapter of ‘Students for Justice in Palestine’ recently issued a set of demands to the school over its stance on the continuing conflict between Israel and Hamas.

The students are masking their faces with Keffiyehs and look like Middle Eastern terrorists.

Do you think their parents are proud? Is this how their families expected things to go when they sent them off to a prestigious school like Rutgers University?

    The Daily Caller reported:

Masked Students for Justice In Palestine Members Demand Rutgers Cut Ties With Israel In Press Conference

Masked Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) members listed new demands for a Rutgers University campus during a press conference Wednesday, which included an order for the school to cut ties with Israel.

Video footage posted on Twitter by a citizen journalist showed three students covering their faces with what appeared to be keffiyehs, or traditional Arab headscarfs. The students led the press conference at the Rutgers University New Brunswick campus.

The student stood in front of a sign that said, “Rutgers profits off of Palestinian suffering” while calling out the school for previously banning the group and listing new demands they claimed need to be met.
