Investigator and Attorney Mike Cernovich: Jeffrey Epstein Was an Asset of the FBI

On Wednesday, Judge Loretta Preska confirmed the release of the initial names from Jeffrey Epstein’s extensive client list, comprising over 150 individuals. Concurrently, a collection of previously sealed documents was made public.
Following the release, the Court Listener website experienced a crash due to the overwhelming public interest.

Three individuals, known in the court documents as Doe 105, Doe 107, and Doe 110, have made appeals. Documents related to Does 105, 107, and 110-110 are being withheld.
Following the release, attorney, filmmaker and author, Mike Cernovich went on Twitter-X to discuss what was missing in the document dump.
Mike Cernovich was one of the early investigators who filed lawsuits for the release of the Epstein files.

The Epstein Files. Today a tranche of documents were released in a case involving Jeffrey Epstein. There’s no revelations. Jeffrey Epstein’s case was covered up. I can explain why.
In 2017, my lawyer Marc Randazza found a wonky freedom of the press case. There was a defamation case, and although Jeffrey Epstein wasn’t named as a defendant, the case was central to some “conspiracy theories.” Marc asked me if I wanted to file a motion to intervene. We expected it to be a simple matter.
Media interest was almost zero. No one in the “free press” cared. Then Trump nominated Alexander Acosta to the Secretary of Labor. Acosta had handled the original Epstein criminal case, and said Epstein was given kid gloves treatments due to protection from the intelligence community.
Epstein was an asset of the FBI. What his exact relation was remains sealed.
By 2019 the case I sought to intervene in had an ORANGE MAN BAD angle because Acota was Trump’s Labor Secretary. Even if the motives were impure, at least we were on to the races.
Hundreds-of-thousands of dollars later, a trip to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and a lot of fighting, we had a batch of documents ready to be unsealed.
The weekend before the documents were made public, SDNY arrested Epstein quietly when he landed his private jet on an airport from a trip he took in France. No perp walk for Epstein.
In 2019 I wrote the following after a press conference was held re: Epstein’s arrest:
” Why didn’t the SNDY charge Jeffrey Epstein under the Mann Act? Under the Mann Act, it’s unlawful to transport an underage girl through interstate travel, including on an airplane.”
“In a widely-publicized press conference the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York announced sex trafficking charges against Jeff Epstein.”
“Epstein was charged for paying minors for massages from 2002 to 2005. Yet what was more newsworthy was the what the indictment left out.”
“The indictment against Epstein does not charge anyone except Epstein, and there’s nothing to indicate that anyone who flew to Epstein’s private island has faced scrutiny.”
“The SDNY’s actions have all of the telltale signs of containment. Because the Miami Herald and Cernovich won a civil lawsuit, leading to over 2,000 records being unsealed, it’s simply impossible for the same Feds who gave Epstein a pass years ago to continue to cover up.”
“The SDNY could have charged Epstein in 2002, 2003, 2004, or at anytime until today. Yet they did not file charges until the Second Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that previously sealed records involving Jeff Epstein would become public record.Thus they are charging him without implicating anyone else who assisted with his operation.”
You know what happened next. Epstein committed suicide.
Because SDNY charged the lowest level offenses possible, they “lacked jurisdiction” to raid Epstein’s island in Little St James, as well as his New Mexico and Paris properties. Those houses were left unattended for a couple of weeks.
During that time, a safe went missing. During the Ghislaine Maxwell trial, it was reported:
Evidence from Jeffrey Epstein’s safe ‘went missing’ after FBI raid.
What was in the safe? We’ll never know for certain. We do know that the FBI has Jeffrey Epstein’s blackmail files.
The real Jeffrey Epstein files are the blackmail material.

With the release of the unsealed Epstein documents from yesterday, quite a bit has been revealed already regarding many mainstream figures within the United States, including former President Bill Clinton, who, according to the deposition, Epstein said “likes them young, referring to girls”.
Prince Andrew, who settled a lawsuit in 2022 with Epstein-victim Virginia Giuffre, was also referred to in the depositions and alleged to have groped a 17-year old girl.
More and more is being discovered through crowd-sourced investigations into the trove of documents unsealed.
But perhaps even more shocking than the Bill Clinton revelations, which has been speculated by “conspiracy theorists” for years now, was a discovery in Document 38, published by Just The News and discovered by Badlands Media‘s Jon Herold:

The admission came during a May 3rd, 2016 deposition under oath. Giuffre was next asked, almost in reverse order, “have you met any foreign presidents” to which she responded “Yes.” When asked, “who are the foreign presidents that you have met?” Giuffre responded that she “honestly can’t remember his name at this time” and that she’s a “very visual person.”
She went on to describe him as Spanish, tall, dark hair and with “a foreign tongue, accent.” She said he was “in his 40s” and that she believed they met in New Mexico. Giuffre, 40, met Ghislaine Maxwell in 2000 when she was 17. Giuffre says by 2003, Epstein had lost interest in her, according to the BBC. It is not clear if the man she was “lent out to” was a current foreign president or former.
When asked if that is the only foreign president she’s met, Giuffree responded:
“I’ve met a lot of very high, powerful people and I wasn’t just introduced to them as who they were. It’s only going back through photos in time to be able to realize who they are and what they are now. So it’s hard for me to distinguish who I’ve actually met and when and where I’ve met them.”
She then said she believes she’s only met one foreign president to her knowledge, at this time but that she could possibly identify others that she’s been lent out to so “who’s to say there’s not more.”

As the first documents of the ‘Epstein list’ are being read and digested by writers all over the world, some household names are popping up, like Former President Bill Clinton and his aide Doug Band, Britain’s Prince Andrew, former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, billionaires Glenn and Eva Dubin, magician David Copperfield and the late model scout Jean-Luc Brunel.
Some of the names appearing are portrayed in a more tangential aspect, as it appears to be the case of former FBI director Louis Freeh.

Kevin Spacey and Cate Blanchett are also among mentions in previously secret documents that were unsealed on Wednesday. Bruce Willis is also mentioned in the case relating to the financier who killed himself in 2019, accused of sex trafficking. The people listed were those named as associates of Epstein and there is no suggestion those listed either knew about his crimes or participated in any criminal behaviour.
Their mention in no way implies any wrongdoing, just that the Hollywood stars were included in the conversation in some way. One witness claimed Epstein “would be on the phone a lot at that time” and one time he said “Oh, that was Leonardo, or that was Cate Blanchett or Bruce Willis”. The witness said they’d never even met DiCaprio.

Perry, Iowa – A horrific act of senseless violence occurred at a high school in a small Iowa town Thursday.
As NBC News reported, there is an active shooter investigation at Perry High School in Perry, Iowa happening now.
Perry is a town of less than 8,000 people located about 25 miles from Des Moines, Iowa. Perry High School is part of the Perry Community School District which serves approximately 1,785 students.
Several people have been reportedly shot during the incident. There is an unconfirmed report the suspect may have already taken their life.

The shooter reportedly died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The suspect behind the Perry High School shooting has been reportedly identified as senior Dylan Butler, local outlet WHO 13 reports. Police confirmed the shooter’s identity. While several were injured, one boy, a 6th grader, was killed. The shooting took place in the morning prior to the start of the school day during a breakfast program.
The Thursday morning shooting in the Iowa school around 25 miles northwest of Des Moines, Iowa saw three people injured, including school principal Dan Marburger who was rushed into surgery. The only reported death is that of the shooter, who appeared to have died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Butler allegedly had a TikTok account where he went by the username “tooktoomuch.” The student’s last post was him inside a bathroom stall with a duffel bag on the ground next to him. The still video featured the words “now we wait” with a song called “Stray Bullets” playing. Police are investigating these assets.
The account, which has since been wiped by TikTok, featured an anime girl as the avatar, with the biography only featuring the gay pride flag and identifying as a “dj.”

Among them are Tom Pritzker, the executive chairman of Hyatt Hotels, former President Bill Clinton, former Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz, British Royal Family Prince Andrew, Pop icon Michael Jackson and Stephen Hawking.
Tom Pritzker, the Executive Chairman of Hyatt Hotels, has been named in a set of recently unredacted legal documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. The deposition, part of a 2016 defamation lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell, includes testimony from Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre, where she mentions Pritzker among several high-profile individuals.
In a 2016 legal deposition unredacted this week, Giuffre was questioned about her relations with Pritzker. When asked, “How many times have you had sex with Tom Pritzker?” Giuffre replied, “I believe I was with Tom once.” Giuffre’s testimony did not suggest that Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s associate, had directed this specific encounter.

These same unscrupulous officials barred The Gateway Pundit from accessing press conferences before and after the rigged election, where 60% of voting machines failed on election day, causing hours-long wait times for Republicans to cast their sacred vote in person. Will President Joe Biden’s weakness end up causing World War 3 before the year is out? At least one man very familiar with war very much thinks so.
In an interview last week with British conservative outlet GBNews, Erik Prince — former Navy SEAL and founder of private military-contracting firm Blackwater — said he expected that China would “take Taiwan in spring 2024.”
The prediction came after the host — U.K. Tory MP Jacob Rees-Mogg, who also works as a commentator and host for the network — noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping “warned President Biden at the summit in [San Francisco] that China will reunify with Taiwan.”
Xi didn’t set a timetable for this, but Prince argued that China would make a try for Taiwan during the Biden administration because of Biden’s weakness on foreign policy — and that, due to weather conditions, it was most likely going to happen in the spring.
“It seems as an American — it seems like we’re in a second version of the Carter administration, from ’77 through 1980,” Prince said, referencing a miserable period of American history that covered everything from the second oil shock to the Iranian takeover of the U.S. embassy in Tehran and subsequent hostage crisis.
“The weather window, if they are going to do something by force in Taiwan, opens around May or June because during most of the months of the year, it’s too windy.
“If they are going to take Taiwan by force I would predict that they are going to do something this spring,” he added, saying he “would be surprised if they didn’t try something under the Biden administration because, for them … it has to feel like the door is wide open for them to do whatever it is they want to do.”

And, indeed, the door was wide open to a move that might start World War 3 on a number of fronts, as Prince pointed out.
“The foreign policy setbacks that we’re experiencing are often and increasing in occurrence,” Prince told Rees-Mogg.
“Now, apparently, you can shoot at U.S. Navy warships hundreds of times and shoot at Americans in the Middle East without consequence,” he said, referencing the current unrest caused by Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists.
“Now you have the Houthis that have even blocked one of the busiest waterways in the planet,” the Red Sea, “taking out more than 50 percent of the global container trade,” he added.
“Again, it’s a catastrophic loss of American credibility and deterrence.”
The left — and indeed, some of the libertarian-leaning right — might despise Price for his role as founder and former CEO of Blackwater, which played a critical role in contracting military services during the post-9/11 conflicts and Afghanistan and Iraq.
That said, the man knows his military — and it’s not like there aren’t plenty of sabers being rattled out of Beijing that could end up starting a shooting war.
NBC News first reported on Dec. 20 that “Chinese President Xi Jinping bluntly told President Joe Biden during their recent summit in San Francisco that Beijing will reunify Taiwan with mainland China but that the timing has not yet been decided, according to three current and former U.S. officials.”
“Xi told Biden in a group meeting attended by a dozen American and Chinese officials that China’s preference is to take Taiwan peacefully, not by force, the officials said,” according to NBC.
He had also asked the White House, prior to the summit, to publicly profess that it supported the “peaceful reunification” of the communist nation with its smaller democratic island counterpart, according to NBC. That was something something that, to the president’s very minimal credit, those at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. refused to do, NBC reported.
NBC also reported that Xi told U.S. diplomats that American military predictions he would take the island in 2025 or 2027 were incorrect and that he hadn’t set a time frame.
“The revelations provide previously unreported details about a critical meeting between the two leaders that was intended to reduce tensions between their countries,” the NBC report noted.
“Xi’s private warning to Biden, while not markedly different from his past public comments on reunifying Taiwan, got the attention of U.S. officials because it was delivered at a time when China’s behavior toward Taiwan is seen as increasingly aggressive and ahead of a potentially pivotal presidential election in the self-governing democratic island next month.”
For its part, Taiwan’s ruling Democratic Progressive Party seems desperate to get Washington’s attention on the matter.
On Wednesday, the party announced that Hsiao Bi-khim — Taiwan’s envoy to the United States, nicknamed the “cat warrior” — is its nominee for vice president, the U.K. Guardian reported.
How that move will affect the election is anyone’s guess, but the fact that the party is betting on a Columbia-educated woman with ties to the U.S. diplomatic community to help it at the ballot box is indicative of just how desperately Taiwan’s leaders want to get Joe Biden’s ear before Beijing does any sort of “peaceful” reunification.
Unfortunately for the Taiwanese, getting Joe Biden’s ear doesn’t seem to be worth much these days. The fact that we’re even talking about such a move by China — which could ultimately predicate World War 3 — is indicative of the state of the world with a diminished octogenarian as the leader of the world’s only free superpower.

Biden Tempts Judicial Fate With ‘Whole of Government’ Plans
Without congressional approval, many of the administration’s efforts violate the law.
It’s fashionable to talk about “red flags” in relationships, addiction, mental health and more. Here’s another red flag: a White House “whole-of-government approach.” It’s a sign that an executive branch of limited powers, supposedly operating under policy authorization from Congress, is about to do something without authority and in violation of the Constitution.
The Biden administration has promised whole-of-government approaches to promoting unions, climate change, cybersecurity, electric vehicles, cryptocurrency and restoring salmon runs to the Snake and Columbia rivers. In October the White House and the National Endowment for the Arts announced a whole-of-government conference on the pressing national emergency of arts and culture.
When an administration invokes whole of government, it is mustering all the agencies under its command to a preferred goal. Thus the Securities and Exchange Commission, designed to regulate stock exchanges, is pressed into service to battle climate change. The Environmental Protection Agency, designed to promote clean air, land and water, is dragooned into energy and industrial policy.
Such approaches haven’t fared well in the courts. Consider the administration’s whole-of-government approach to Covid-19. In Alabama Association of Realtors v. HHS (2021), the Supreme Court found that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s eviction moratorium almost certainly overstepped

Chautauqua County Judge David Foley ruled Wednesday that Hadi Matar — accused of stabbing Rushdie more than a dozen times and partially blinding him as he prepared to give a lecture in August 2022 — is entitled to preview Rushdie’s manuscript, as well as the author’s book notes, before the trial begins,
Matar, 26, of New Jersey, has remained jailed with no bond since being arrested and faces attempted murder and assault charges.
The trial in upstate New York was due to start Jan. 8, but now appeared likely to be postponed after Foley allowed extra time for the defendant to consider the delay to review the book and other materials.

The spot rate for shipping goods in a 40-foot container from Asia to northern Europe now tops $4,000, a 173% jump from just before the diversions started in mid-December, Freightos.com, a cargo booking and payment platform, said late Wednesday.
The cost for goods from Asia to the Mediterranean increased to $5,175, Freightos said, adding that some carriers have announced prices above $6,000 for this route starting in mid-January. Rates from Asia to North America’s East Coast have risen 55% to $3,900 for a 40-foot container.

A sure way to make a movie flop is to hire a director who alienates a big chunk of the audience before the film is even released.
Will Disney ever learn? Not until it goes broke, it would seem.
The company has hired activist and documentary filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy to direct the next “Star Wars” movie, slated to be released in 2026.
Obaid-Chinoy is on record saying, “We’re in 2024 now, and I think it’s about time that we had a woman come forward to shape the story in a galaxy far, far away.”
In case Obaid-Chinoy isn’t aware, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has led the “Star Wars” franchise for a decade. So much for breaking the glass ceiling. Kennedy’s been there, done that.
In a 2015 interview with Obaid-Chinoy, Jon Stewart observed that there seems to be a thread running through Obaid-Chinoy’s work — the idea that “men are a**holes.”
Stewart’s comment caused Obaid-Chinoy to giggle like a schoolgirl, exposing her hatred for roughly half the human population. I wonder if she holds male dogs or cats in equal disdain.
“I like to make men uncomfortable,” Obaid-Chinoy said in the interview. “I enjoy making men uncomfortable.”

What production company in its right mind would hire someone who obviously despises men to direct a film for a franchise worth billions of dollars? Disney would.
People — men, women, children — don’t go to “Star Wars” movies to feel uncomfortable about themselves. It doesn’t take a market research firm to figure that out.
Obaid-Chinoy went on, “It is important to be able to look into the eyes of a man and say, ‘I am here and recognize that. And recognize that I am working to bring something that makes you uncomfortable, and it should make you uncomfortable because you need to change your attitude.’”
I don’t think she needs to worry. If Obaid-Chinoy brings that message to “Star Wars,” it will be recognized. But it is unlikely to change anyone’s attitude. Normal people aren’t going to pay the price of admission to be hammered by yet another member of the woke elite.
Disney is on a roll of making bad decisions — and losing money in the process.
In 2023, for the first time in years, it lost the overall box office crown. Choosing Obaid-Chinoy to direct a Star Wars film will in all likelihood be the latest in a long string of missteps for the Mouse House.
Conservative commentator Matt Walsh agrees. In a Wednesday X post, he stated, “This movie is destined to be Disney’s biggest flop yet.”

In their decisions to kick Trump off the ballot, the Colorado Supreme Court and Maine secretary of state cited Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which prohibits those who have engaged in insurrection from holding office. Trump has appealed both decisions.
As Haines rightly pointed out, if Trump is not allowed on the ballot, “that martyrdom will be one step more.”
“We have a nation that doesn’t believe in democracy, doesn’t believe in the voting,” Haines said. “Everyone that loses says it was rigged and failed. I think this will create a visual to people that this was a rigged election.”
Behar disagreed, saying that she believed “the law will stand.”
“If you’re not going to follow an amendment, then why don’t we have Taylor Swift run for president?” Behar said.
Behar’s unfiltered comments distill the essence of top-down, “we know best” liberalism. Her instinct is to keep voters from making what she perceives as the wrong choice by forcibly taking away their ability to choose.
It’s no wonder that conservatives, a group of people who fiercely believe in individual liberty, have flocked to Trump — a man who refuses to let his opinions or speech be managed or manipulated.
Even historically liberal groups like black voters are waking up to the manipulation and turning away from the Democratic Party.
If Behar is frustrated, she only has people like herself to blame.

House Democrats accused Trump of taking millions in foreign bribes while president after a seven-year investigation in an effort to distract from Biden’s crimes and impeachment inquiry.
Democrats, once again, accused Trump of violating the Constitution’s emoluments clause.
The emoluments clause is a provision that bars US presidents from accepting gifts from foreign governments without permission from Congress first.
House Democrats targeted Trump and accused him of violating the very rarely litigated emoluments clause of the US Constitution by claiming his luxury hotels which, at the time, were blocks from the White House were evidence Trump was receiving benefits.
“It is true that $7.8 million is almost certainly only a fraction of Trump’s harvest of unlawful foreign state money, but this figure in itself is a scandal and a decisive spur to action,” Ranking member of the House Oversight Committee Rep. Jamie Raskin said in the 156-page report.

In an order that was issued with no dissent, the Supreme Court instructed lower courts to toss out opinions against Trump since he is no longer in office.

House Oversight Chairman James Comer identified the NINE Bidens who are implicated in the corruption.
“Bank records show the Biden family, their associates, and their companies received over $10 million from foreign nationals and their companies,” Comer said.

Revolutionary ‘nanodrones’ target and eliminate cancer cells

ULSAN, South Korea — South Korean researchers from the Ulsan Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) have developed a cutting-edge method to treat cancer using tiny, specialized devices called “nanodrones.” These revolutionary nanodrones are engineered to specifically target and destroy cancer cells.
To understand this, we first need to know about Natural Killer (NK) cells. NK cells are a type of white blood cell that play a vital role in defending our body against cancer. Scientists have long aimed to use these cells in cancer treatment. The UNIST team’s breakthrough, named NKeNDs (NK cell-engaging nanodrones), utilizes a kind of nanoparticle known as the AaLS protein cage to accomplish this goal.
These NKeNDs are special because they have two types of ligands (molecules that bind to other molecules) attached to their surface. One type is designed to target cancer cells (like HER2Afb or EGFRAfb), and the other type to attract NK cells (aCD16Nb). This attachment is done through a process called SpyCatcher/SpyTag protein ligation. The team has created two versions of these nanodrones, named HER2@NKeND and EGFR@NKeND, which are tailored to attach to specific types of cancer cells (HER2-overexpressing SK-OV-3 cells and EGFR-overexpressing MDA-MB-468 cells) and also to human NK cells.

Israeli research uses Earth’s magnetic field to verify event in Bible’s Book of Kings

“A Sad Day”: How the Colorado Disqualification Case is Bringing Back Bad Memories for the Supreme Court
Below is my column in The Messenger on the challenge facing the Supreme Court in the coming week over the electoral disqualification of former president Donald Trump in Colorado and Maine. The appeal in Maine has been filed and can now work its way up to the Court. Colorado is expected to file with the Court this week. If the Court does not act before Jan. 4th, Colorado could seek to moot any appeal and avoid review. It would then depend on the Maine litigation to bring the matter back to the Court.

It is “a sad day for America and the Constitution when a court decides the outcome of an election.” Those words, condemning a 4-3 decision by state supreme court justices regarding a presidential election, undoubtedly spoke for millions of Americans.
However, it wasn’t a reference to the Colorado Supreme Court’s recent 4-3 decision to disqualify Donald Trump from running in the 2024 election. Instead, it was a statement by James Baker, then a spokesman for Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush, criticizing the Florida Supreme Court’s decision during the 2000 election.
Of course, the condemnations in 2000 would shift to the U.S. Supreme Court, when it stopped the recount ordered by the four Florida justices and effectively called the election for Bush. Then, it was the left condemning the U.S. justices as being, in the words of law professor Cass Sunstein, “illegitimate, undemocratic, and unprincipled.”
Even the justices appeared to lose some of their customary collegiality and civility in the moment. Then-Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg famously omitted the customary word “respectfully” before the phrase “I dissent” at the end of her opinion.
Now, the Supreme Court is being pulled into another election vortex by the Colorado decision and, potentially, by some of the cases in at least 15 other states. (Appeals of ballot decisions are pending in Arizona; ballot challenges are in process in Alaska, Maine, New York, New Jersey, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming. A Wisconsin challenge has been denied twice.)

Study: Most Ohio Cities Saw Drop in ‘Gun Crime’ After Constitutional Carry Took Effect
Anti-gun activists predicted that the passage of constitutional carry legislation was going to turn Ohio into the “Wild West”, but it looks like the Buckeye State has been more the Mild Midwest since the law took effect. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced on Wednesday that a new study from the Center for Justice Research at Bowling Green University found a decline in gun-related crime in six of the state’s eight biggest cities since the law took effect.

Yost says he didn’t know what the data would show when he asked the center to take a look at crime data, but after several mayors criticized the law and claimed it would make their cities less safe he wanted to find out if those claims had any merit. According to the study, they do not.
Researchers analyzed data spanning from June 2021 to June 2023 – a year before and a year after the law took effect – focusing on crimes involving firearms, verified gunshot-detection alerts and the number of officers struck by gunfire.
Center for Justice Research Director Melissa Burek, who has a doctorate in criminal justice, led the research.
The study showed significant decreases in the number of crimes involving firearms in Akron, Columbus and Toledo, and across all eight cities combined.
The rate of gun crime in Parma fell the most – by 22% – followed by Akron and Toledo, each with decreases of 18%. Rates for Dayton and Cincinnati increased by 6% and 5%, respectively.
Data compiled from gunshot-detection technology also reflected a downward trend, with verified crime incidents dropping 23.2% in Toledo and 20.6% in Columbus. The other six cities had no available gunshot-detection data for the period studied.
To measure the impact of permitless carry on law enforcement, researchers examined cases of firearm-related injuries and deaths of officers in the eight cities of interest. They noted three such instances before the law took effect and four afterward, concluding that there was no substantial change.
The findings generally correlate with homicide rates in Ohio cities, though Cincinnati did record an almost 20 percent decline in homicides in 2023 while “gun crime” increased by 5 percent during the time period studied by researchers. Overall, however, researchers concluded that constitutional carry has had a minimal effect “on crime rates involving firearms, number of shots detected, and law enforcement officer injuries and deaths and generally show a decrease” in those incidents. Now, that’s not to say that permitless carry is responsible for the drop in crime. That would be just as simplistically stupid as Chris Murphy’s contention that the decline in the U.S. homicide rate is because of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. Clearly, though, permitless carry didn’t result in Ohio becoming a more dangerous place, which was the assertion of anti-gun lawmakers and activists alike.
Given what we know about violent crime, these findings make sense. Most criminologists agree that a disproportionate amount of violent crime is committed by a very small group of people who are well-known to law enforcement, and those individuals are both the most likely offenders and victims of violent acts. Lawful gun owners simply aren’t to blame for a lot of violent crimes, and that’s true whether we’re talking about a state that regularly infringes on our Second Amendment rights like California or those states that recognize the inherent importance of our right to keep and bear arms.
Now that we’ve got proof that constitutional carry didn’t turn Ohio into a lawless hellhole or the nation’s most crime-ridden state, will we hear a mea culpa from those anti-gun activists or politicians who swore the state would be a more dangerous place as a result of the legislation? I’m not holding my breath, but their silence will speak volumes on its own. Despite their assertions to the contrary, we can protect our Second Amendment rights while reducing violent crime, and Ohio is just the latest example of that phenomenon.

The Epstein Files. Today a tranche of documents were released in a case involving Jeffrey Epstein. There’s no revelations. Jeffrey Epstein’s case was covered up. I can explain why.
In 2017, my lawyer Marc Randazza found a wonky freedom of the press case. There was a defamation case, and although Jeffrey Epstein wasn’t named as a defendant, the case was central to some “conspiracy theories.” Marc asked me if I wanted to file a motion to intervene. We expected it to be a simple matter.
Media interest was almost zero. No one in the “free press” cared. Then Trump nominated Alexander Acosta to the Secretary of Labor. Acosta had handled the original Epstein criminal case, and said Epstein was given kid gloves treatments due to protection from the intelligence community.
Epstein was an asset of the FBI. What his exact relation was remains sealed.
By 2019 the case I sought to intervene in had an ORANGE MAN BAD angle because Acota was Trump’s Labor Secretary. Even if the motives were impure, at least we were on to the races.
Hundreds-of-thousands of dollars later, a trip to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and a lot of fighting, we had a batch of documents ready to be unsealed.
The weekend before the documents were made public, SDNY arrested Epstein quietly when he landed his private jet on an airport from a trip he took in France. No perp walk for Epstein.
In 2019 I wrote the following after a press conference was held re: Epstein’s arrest:
” Why didn’t the SNDY charge Jeffrey Epstein under the Mann Act? Under the Mann Act, it’s unlawful to transport an underage girl through interstate travel, including on an airplane.”
“In a widely-publicized press conference the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York announced sex trafficking charges against Jeff Epstein.”
“Epstein was charged for paying minors for massages from 2002 to 2005. Yet what was more newsworthy was the what the indictment left out.”
“The indictment against Epstein does not charge anyone except Epstein, and there’s nothing to indicate that anyone who flew to Epstein’s private island has faced scrutiny.”
“The SDNY’s actions have all of the telltale signs of containment. Because the Miami Herald and Cernovich won a civil lawsuit, leading to over 2,000 records being unsealed, it’s simply impossible for the same Feds who gave Epstein a pass years ago to continue to cover up.”
“The SDNY could have charged Epstein in 2002, 2003, 2004, or at anytime until today. Yet they did not file charges until the Second Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that previously sealed records involving Jeff Epstein would become public record.Thus they are charging him without implicating anyone else who assisted with his operation.”
You know what happened next. Epstein committed suicide.
Because SDNY charged the lowest level offenses possible, they “lacked jurisdiction” to raid Epstein’s island in Little St James, as well as his New Mexico and Paris properties. Those houses were left unattended for a couple of weeks.
During that time, a safe went missing. During the Ghislaine Maxwell trial, it was reported:
Evidence from Jeffrey Epstein’s safe ‘went missing’ after FBI raid.
What was in the safe? We’ll never know for certain. We do know that the FBI has Jeffrey Epstein’s blackmail files.
The real Jeffrey Epstein files are the blackmail material.

The Western world is experiencing the most dramatic political realignment since the rise of socialism over a century ago. The driving force then was the rise of the working class, created by the Industrial Revolution. Today, it is the shift to an economy dominated by information industries, technology, finance and media. This new economic order, just like that which arose a century ago, is creating a highly disruptive political dynamic and a shift in historic class allegiances.
The tech platforms, the financial giants and retail mega-corporations have formed a new economic oligarchy. In 2023, six of the world’s eight most-valued companies were tech firms. Apple, which sits at the top of the list, became the first $3 trillion company last year. It has a market valuation just below the GDP of India and the UK, and larger than that of Italy, Russia or Canada.
The oligarchs tend to back the so-called progressive agenda on issues like climate change, culture and immigration. Yet, unlike the progressives of old, they they have little interest in achieving greater income equality or spreading prosperity more widely, as they have become the primary beneficiaries of an increasingly feudalised economy.

‘While speaking to New York ABC affiliate WABC on Monday, Edison, New Jersey Mayor Sam Joshi (D) stated that he turned a bus full of migrants sent to the city back because local police ‘did not know if any of those 40 individuals were carrying weapons, they couldn’t be identified,’” Breitbart recounted from a WABC New Jersey report Tuesday. “And that is a major problem. That’s a major security risk. It’s a health risk. And we’re just not going to tolerate that.”
What is obviously true, but not stated, is that if illegal aliens pose major security and health risks in New Jersey, they pose them everywhere – in Everytown – and knowing that, sending them back to the border, where they’ll be released and then spread out to the rest of the population, is an act of deliberate indifference and criminal negligence.
It’s also supremely hypocritical, as Joshi took full advantage of Joe Biden’s and Gov. Phil Murphy’s political support to assure Edington Democrats he’s a team player. His “Endorsements” page looks like a Who’s Who of gun-grabbers and “pathway to citizenship” enthusiasts.
So it’s curious that those who demand the loudest for gun prohibitions infringing on the rights of “law-abiding citizens” are doing more than turning a blind eye on the millions of illegal aliens, many of them military-age men, that have been pouring across the border for years and are now surging in unprecedented numbers while the Biden administration waves them through. They’re incentivizing them to come.
Because they know from experience that once they’re made citizens, the overwhelming majority will vote Democrat. Party leadership is counting on it.
And now, “thanks” to Joshi’s volunteered admission, the imposing of infringements on U.S. gun owners is shown for the cynical fraud that it is. Otherwise, you’d think all the major “commonsense gun safety groups” would have made controlled immigration a centerpiece for their efforts, rather than remaining silent about the dangers of untold millions coming into this country without “background checks,” with an untold number, as Joshi just complained, being armed.
Think about it: Everything they would impose on you, they give a pass to the illegals with their silence. They have no idea how many criminals are crossing the border with impunity, or how many terrorists.
What are the priorities of the prohibitionists? They tell us every day: “Universal background checks,” red flag laws, semiauto bans, magazine bans, “ghost gun” bans, “sensitive area” bans – meanwhile, one of their own, a mayor backed by the president and the governor, is telling the press that he’s afraid of illegal aliens because they’re “a major security risk” and not only do the people who want to disarm you clam up, they actively support the foreign trespassers and oppose all who want to keep them out and send them back…
Because it’s not really about “gun safety,” is it? It never has been.

Nearly three months ago, a Charlotte County, Florida judge told Lisa Marok that if she didn’t renounce her Second Amendment rights, give up her Florida Concealed Weapon or Firearm License and remove every single firearm and every single round of ammunition from her home, her husband would be sent to a state prison for 19 months. If she complied and relinquished her civil rights and her firearms, her husband would walk out of the courtroom a free man.
“You have a choice,” Circuit Judge Shannon H. McFee told her. “Your husband or your guns.”
Critics – and there were more than a few – described Judge McFee’s decision as illegal, unconstitutional, and possibly even criminal.
A story published in October revealed how Lisa Marok’s husband, Ralph Marok, shot his neighbor’s home and Mercury Montego in April 2022. No one was injured during the late-night shooting.
Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office deputies seized all of the firearms from Marok’s home, not just those involved in the shooting. Many of the firearms belonged to Lisa Marok and the couple’s son, Thomas Marok.
Ralph Marok was charged with violating two state statutes: 790.19 – Shooting Throwing into Vehicle or Dwelling, a felony, and 806.13 1b1 – Criminal Mischief Under $200 Damage, a misdemeanor.
Prosecutors offered Ralph Marok a no-jail plea deal, in which he would be sentenced to 10 years of probation, but the term would be reduced to five years if he successfully completed a treatment program, attended AA meetings regularly, and made restitution to his neighbors. Lisa Marok accompanied her husband to the hearing to accept the plea deal, which was a mere formality, or so she thought.
“When the judge told Ralph he couldn’t have a single gun in the house, whatsoever, I kind of made a face. I assumed the judge was looking at me, because he called me up to the stand and swore me in — he swore me in,” Lisa Marok said during an interview for the October story. “The judge told me I couldn’t ever own a gun again — ever in my life. He said you’ve got a choice — your husband or your guns. In a joking manner, I said ‘can I have a minute?’ Of course, I was going to pick my husband. He said we cannot have guns in the house – any guns whatsoever. He said I couldn’t carry one for protection anymore. He took away all of my Second Amendment rights.”

The Son’s Guns
Thomas Marok, 36, served as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy. He currently works as an anesthesia technician at a hospital in the Milwaukee area and is studying to become a physician’s assistant. He drove home to Charlotte County over the Christmas holidays to see his parents and to retrieve his guns.
Thomas Marok called the Sherriff’s Office repeatedly over several days but got no response. Finally, Sheriff’s Sgt. Thomas Barker returned his calls.
“Barker told me the State Attorney said she’s not releasing the guns unless there’s a court order because the judge said specifically that my mom had to choose between her guns or her husband, and she chose her husband, so the guns won’t be released without an order from the court,” Thomas Marok said Wednesday. “I’m very upset and frustrated. At the very least, my personal firearms weren’t used in the incident involving my dad, so I don’t understand why I can’t get my firearms back.”
Thomas Marok said deputies seized his Chinese SKS, a Colt 1911 and a .357 Magnum revolver.
“I want all of my family’s firearms,” he said. “I’ll take them back to Milwaukee with me, where they’ll be in my possession in my gun safe.”
Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Thomas Conroy III confirmed Marok’s account.
“The firearms belong to his father, Ralph Marok, who is a convicted felon. Thomas Marok now claims that he is the owner of the firearms. The State’s Attorney’s Office of Florida, advised that the guns will not be returned to Thomas without a court order. For any further questions, I would refer you to the [State Attorney’s Office],” Conroy wrote in an email.
In a follow-up email, Conroy wrote, “Just so we are clear after speaking with the [State Attorney’s Office], the order came directly from the Judge overseeing this case.
Samantha Syoen, communications director for Amira D. Fox, State Attorney for Florida’s 20th Judicial District, said, “It was the judge who made the decision. It would be up to the judge to undo.”
When asked whether the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office was violating Florida’s preemption statute by refusing to return Marok’s firearms, Syoen said “I have nothing to – I’m not associated with what’s going on at the Sheriff’s Office.”
Previous infringements
Florida’s powerful preemption statute prohibits any state, county, city or other public entity from regulating firearms by “enacting or causing to be enforced any local ordinance or administrative rule or regulation” that regulates arms. Only the state legislature has such regulatory authority, the statute mandates. Any public official who violates the preemption statute can face removal from office and up to $5,000 in fines, which the statute requires them to pay personally.
As the agency head and chief administrative officer, Charlotte County Sheriff Prummell is personally responsible for any illegal rules or policies that violate preemption. Sheriff Prummell did not respond to calls or emails seeking an interview for this story.
This is not the first time Prummell has been accused of violating the civil rights of his constituents.

In 2019, it was learned his office had been compiling an illegal registry of gun owners by using a pawn shop database, which is a felony. Florida state law prohibits any government agency from “knowingly and willfully keep or cause to be kept any list, record, or registry of privately owned firearms or any list, record, or registry of the owners of those firearms.” The database Prummell’s deputies created contained the names of people who pawned guns and a description of the firearms, which included their serial numbers.
At the time, neither State Attorney Fox nor Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody chose to prosecute or even investigate these allegations.

Constitutional Carry: Can We Reach 30 States In 2024?

As we enter 2024, it’s interesting to note that more than half of the states in the union now have a “permitless” or constitutional carry law on the books. Yes, you read that right: Lawful Americans in 27 states can now carry a concealed firearm for defense of themselves and their families without jumping through government hoops, navigating endless red tape and paying a fee to practice their Second Amendment rights.
That’s obviously a good thing, as the founders never intended for lawful citizens to have to ask the government for permission to keep and bear arms. That fact was bolstered by the 2022 Supreme Court decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, which, among other things, affirmed the right to bear arms for self-defense outside the home.
In 2023, two states were brought into the constitutional carry fold. Florida became number 26 last April when that state’s “permitless” carry measure was signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis. The law took effect in July. Nebraska followed by passing a similar measure that was signed into law by Gov. Jim Pillen and took effect in September.
So, what might 2024 hold? Is it possible to reach 30 states—a full 60% of America—by the end of the year? The answer remains to be seen, of course, but there are some states actively pursuing such a law.
In South Carolina, two “permitless” carry measures that weren’t passed last year are pending when lawmakers return later this month. One, H 3594, received bipartisan support in the state House and reportedly has the support of Republican Gov. Henry McMaster.
In Louisiana, a constitutional carry bill never made it out of a Senate committee because of problematic amendments that would have compromised the bill’s purpose. It’s likely, however, that constitutional carry will again be considered in 2024, and supporters vow to fight until the battle is won.
Also, in North Carolina a constitutional carry measure, HB 189, was on the move in 2023 but was also derailed in committee by amendments that added a mandatory training and education requirement. Still, supporters of the measure, including the National Rifle Association, intend to keep the pressure on in the Tar Heel State.

In the last few weeks, we’ve covered a lot of news where it was clear that government officials had no intention of even trying to do the right thing. Let’s review a few of those real quick.
Disingenuous Actions Taken Against Guns
For one, there’s the gun control group in New Mexico that committed multiple felonies, despite being warned by BATFE that they had to properly destroy firearms to avoid breaking all of these laws. Because they’re favored by Democrats (who now control both the state and federal government), they’re getting away with it when you or I would be sitting in jail awaiting trial.
California’s politicians have also been playing games. Instead of respecting the Supreme Court’s NYSRPA v Bruen ruling, they went into lawfare mode. Because they were forced to issue permits to all qualified, they did their level-headed best to make those permits as worthless as possible. When called out on it by a lower court, the Ninth Circuit did what all the anti-gun courts have been doing since Bruen: stay, delay, and impede in hopes that some Supreme Court justices die and get replaced by Biden.
As Kostas Moros (a fellow writer here) pointed out on Twitter/X:
Another lesson to learn from us in California is this: no matter how much you surrender, it will never be enough.
Think about it, getting a CCW permit in CA is like a gun control wet dream (aside from just not giving permits at all of course).
You apply with high fees, you wait months and sometimes years, you do a police interview and background check, a safety course with a shooting proficiency test, and if the department demands it, a psych exam.
Despite all this and despite almost nonexistent crime rates among people with carry permits nationwide, the Democrats in Sacramento still cast us out from all public places, making our carry permits that we jumped through so many hoops to get a nullity.
So next time gun control advocates in your state start saying “reasonable” this and “common sense” that, tell them you have no interest in even hearing their latest idea until states like CA and NY repeal their punitive laws.
A number of other states are doing similar things, both in New York and in many other cases as we pointed out here. Illinois has a new “assault weapon” ban, and almost nobody is complying with its registration requirement. It’s such a (likely intentionally) poorly-written law that even the State Police and other government offices can’t answer citizens’ questions about it. Despite that the registration deadline has passed, the state kept the online registration portal open, but anyone that uses it after the deadline would basically be sending ISP a written confession to a crime. Similar court delay shenanigans have gone on here as in California.
I could write about these abuses and usurpations all day (it’s a long train), but I think I’ve driven the point home. The clowns passing these non-laws are proving to us that they have no respect for the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Supreme Court, or simply doing the right thing.
The Deeper Problem This Causes
While the tug of war over gun rights is nothing new (many of us here have been involved for decades), it has taken a nasty turn since Bruen. Anti-gun government officials have gone from fighting with the system to abusing the system for political gain. This practice of abusing public institutions to deny people’s rights and limit their ability to push for reforms has a name: lawfare.
Because they couldn’t win at a rational debate over the Second Amendment and human rights, they’re instead deciding to play “pigeon chess”. A pigeon obviously can’t play chess, but it can shit all over the board, throw the pieces around, and then claim victory. Here’s a great example of Gavin Newsom shitting on the board.
But, the chess board isn’t just a gun rights issue. Playing the “pigeon chess” version of public policy and law (lawfare) makes everyone lose respect for the game. I’m sure I speak for many gun owners both in and out of California when I say that I don’t have any respect for the state now. They’re not trying to improve public safety or have an enlightened public policy debate about firearms, and there’s no amount of appeasement that will ever be enough for them.
When governments play dirty like this for long enough, people will eventually wise up and realizing that they’re playing football with Lucy.

Whatever we want to call it, this crisis of legitimacy is still in the relatively early stages. I won’t sit here and pretend that only Democrats act this way, either. Republicans have plenty of other issues that they don’t want to play by the rules on, and that behavior also serves to sap the legitimacy of the system in the public eye. If government officials on all sides don’t cut it out, the whole system could unravel and get a bunch of people on all sides killed.
Nobody really wants that.

Bull S— violence with a high causality number is exactly what the Dem leaders want, they think they can use that to seize power and remain in power, what they don’t realize is that the vast majority of the Pro’s at using intelligent and targeted violence are political opponents of the collectivist policies that the Dems push. They can’t win the coming civil war but they are intellectually incapable of understanding why they can’t win.

Tucker Carlson on Thursday released his interview with Jeffrey Epstein’s only surviving relative – his brother, Mark Epstein.
Noted pedophile of the rich and powerful Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his prison cell in Manhattan in August 2019 one week after he supposedly attempted suicide.
Many people don’t believe Epstein killed himself in after a number of strange coincidences and inconsistencies were revealed following his death.
Tucker Carlson interviewed Jeffrey Epstein’s brother Mark Epstein.
Mark Epstein refused to appear on camera as Tucker asked him a series of questions related to his brother’s death.
Mark Epstein said inside sources told him cell blocks were unlocked the night his brother Jeffrey Epstein died in his prison cell. He also believes someone was planted to kill Jeffrey Epstein because several prisoners were transferred out the night after Epstein was found dead.

Epstein was found hanging in his cell from his bunk bed with a prison bedsheet wrapped around his head in August 2019.
Epstein, who is 6 feet tall, reportedly secured the bedsheet to the top bunk bed and wrapped the sheet around his neck.
Many close to Epstein fear he was murdered and CBS News, citing an unnamed source, also reported on Tuesday that “shrieking and shouting” was heard coming from Epstein’s cell on the morning of his death. The source also said they heard corrections officers saying “breathe, Epstein, breathe,” while trying to revive him.
Epstein had several broken bones in his neck which is common in homicide by strangulation.
Among the broken bones in Epstein’s neck was the hyoid bone which can be broken during a hanging if the individual is older, however it is more common in a homicide by strangulation, according to forensics experts.
Top forensic pathologist Dr. Cyril Wecht said only 1% of hanging deaths resulted in broken hyoid bones.
Epstein was found dead a day after documents were unsealed implicating several elites and Democrats including Al Gore and former Governor Bill Richardson.
Bill Clinton was good friends with Epstein and traveled on his private jet dubbed ‘Lolita Express’ over two dozen times and according to pilot logs, underage teenagers were on the flights with Clinton.
The New York City medical examiner ultimately ruled Epstein’s death a suicide.
In 2019, the medical examiner’s office said in a statement that an autopsy and other evidence confirmed the 66-year-old financier hanged himself in his cell at a federal jail.
In January 2020, prosecutors told a judge that the ‘missing‘ surveillance footage outside of Epstein’s prison cell on the night of his suicide attempt in July had been found.
Prosecutors then told the judge the surveillance video has been destroyed due to a “record-keeping error.”
Even worse, the backup system for video surveillance wasn’t working due to ‘technical errors.’
“The requested video no longer exists on the backup system and has not since at least August 2019 as a result of technical errors,” the prosecutors wrote.
Last year the Justice Department Inspector General determined in its report that Epstein’s death was a ‘suicide.’
The DOJ IG blamed Epstein’s suicide on the jail guard’s negligence and misconduct.
“The Medical Examiner who performed the autopsy detailed for the OIG [Office of Inspector General] why Epstein’s injuries were more consistent with, and indicative of, a suicide by hanging rather than a homicide by strangulation,” the report said. “The Medical Examiner also told the OIG that the ligature furrow was too broad to have been caused by the electrical cord of the medical device in Epstein’s cell and that blood toxicology tests revealed no medications or illegal substances were in Epstein’s system. The Medical Examiner also noted the absence of debris under Epstein’s fingernails, marks on his hands, contusions to his knuckles, or bruises on his body that would have indicated Epstein had been a struggle, which would be expected if Epstein’s death had been a homicide by strangulation.”

‘First Thing We Do, Let’s Kill All the Lawyers!’

Shakespeare famously wrote, “First thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers.” This startling suggestion is offered by the character “Dick the Butcher” in Shakespeare’s play, Henry VI, Part II.
Often considered a somewhat tongue-in-cheek criticism of self-interested or otherwise morally compromised practitioners within the legal profession, it has since entered the lexicon of Western societies as shorthand for the upending of the law by those charged with safeguarding it.
The United States was once thought immune to such anti-liberty chicanery — at least as immune as any society comprising fallible human beings can be — but recent decades have shown us to be as vulnerable as Achilles.
Politicians have long behaved badly but were heretofore sufficiently self-conscious to still perform a sort of “constitutional fan dance” to at least present a fig leaf of legitimacy to obscure their rapacious behavior.
Sadly, that façade became obsolete with the wholesale loss of media objectivity, at least as far as Democrats were concerned. Traceable to the campaign of one William Jefferson Clinton, the major media ran interference for the missteps and criminality of his subsequent administration, refusing to adequately investigate obvious avenues of corruption and malfeasance.
In the years between then and now, that dynamic has only advanced, never diminished.
However, while the playing field had been deeply slanted in favor of the political left, the loyal opposition have found themselves under even greater scrutiny as countless journalists with lots of time on their hands, and a perpetually dull axe to grind, focused the entirety of their efforts on only one side of the aisle.

Harvard—Out the Frying Pan Into the Fire
Gay’s removal is not the end of Harvard’s dilemma. Rather, it is the beginning.

Harvard may assume the forced resignation of its president, Claudine Gay, has finally ended its month-long scandal over her tenure.
Gay stepped down, remember, amid serious allegations of serial plagiarism—without refuting the charges. She proved either unable or unwilling to discipline those on her campus who were defiantly anti-Semitic in speech and action.
But Gay’s removal is not the end of Harvard’s dilemma. Rather, it is the beginning.
In the respective press releases from both Gay and the Harvard Corporation, racial animus was cited as a reason for her removal.

Gay did not even refer to her failure to stop anti-Semitism on her campus or her own record of blatant plagiarism.
Yet playing the race card reflects poorly on both and for a variety of reasons.
One, Gay’s meager publication record—a mere eleven articles without a single published book of her own—had somehow earned her a prior Harvard full professorship and presidency. Such a thin resume leading to academic stardom is unprecedented.

Two, the University of Pennsylvania forced the resignation of its president, Liz Magill. She sat next to Gay during that now-infamous congressional hearing in which they both claimed they were unable to discipline blatant anti-Semitism on their campuses.
Instead, both plead “free speech” and “context” considerations.
Such excuses were blatantly amoral and untrue. In truth, ivy-league campuses routinely sanction, punish, or remove staff, faculty, or students deemed culpable for speech or behavior deemed hurtful to protected minorities—except apparently white males and Jews.
Yet Magill was immediately forced to resign, and Gay was not. Also noteworthy was Magill’s far more impressive and extensive administrative experience, along with a more prestigious scholarship that was free of even a suggestion of plagiarism.
Academia’s immediate firing of a white woman while trying desperately to save the career of a less qualified and ethically challenged black woman will be seen not as a case of racial bias but more likely of racial preference.

Indeed, to keep Gay’s job and to defend her from plagiarism charges, both Harvard and Gay herself were willing to say things that were simply absurd, if not patently untrue.
Harvard invented a new phrase “duplicative language” to euphemize the reality of Gay’s intellectual theft.
Even after Gay resigned, Harvard jumped the shark by further downplaying her plagiarism by dubbing it as mere “missteps.”
Harvard and its supporters further embarrassed themselves by alleging that if the victims of Gay’s plagiarism didn’t object, then why did her expropriation matter that much?
Are we then to assume that plagiarism is not a serious violation of the entire ethos of scholarship, quite in addition to the aggrieved plagiarized party?
The university descended even further by suggesting that if the complaints were lodged by anonymous scholars, they were somehow less serious.
Has Harvard ever heard of the reasons why whistleblowers are often protected from retribution by grants of anonymity?

Liberal Harvard, through its lawyers, even threatened the New York Post with legal action if it aired charges of Gay’s plagiarism.
Yet only days later, the university was swamped by further proof of Gay’s scholarly misconduct, involving improper use of data and more plagiarism extending back even to her dissertation.
Harvard, remember, claimed that it had conducted a thorough investigation that had cleared her of actionable plagiarism—even as more charges arose of her prior culpability.
But more importantly, what happens to ex-president Gay now?
Does resigning from the Harvard presidency and returning to a full professorship mean that charges of plagiarism disappear?

Would any other Harvard professors continue to be employed without addressing over two dozen separate charges of plagiarism lodged against them?
Do Gay, the Harvard Corporation, and the more than 700 Harvard professors who closed ranks and wrote a letter supporting Gay now argue that plagiarism is no longer a serious offense at the nation’s supposedly most preeminent university?
Will students who emulate Gay’s habit of copy-and-paste, failure-to-footnote, and misuse-of-data now be exempt from dismissal or suspension?
After Gay’s embarrassing December 5 congressional testimony and her resignation, what now is the Harvard policy toward anti-Semitism?
If next week, anti-Israel students once again call for the destruction of the Jewish people in Israel all the way “from the river to the sea,” or if they again storm Harvard’s Widener library, screaming support for the October 7 massacre and intimidating Jewish students, what will the new—or old—Harvard do?
Again nothing?
Finally, Harvard insinuated that Gay was fired by racist outside pressure—despite the fact that many of her critics were large donors furious about the diminution of the reputation of their alma mater.
Is Harvard suggesting that its own mega-donors are racists?
What then might come next?
The resignation of the entire board of the Harvard Corporation that is the ultimate cause of Harvard’s descent into mediocrity.

ISIS claims responsibility for blast at Soleimani grave site in Iran that killed 84
This is the deadliest attack in Iran since the Iranian revolution.
ISIS on Thursday claimed responsibility for a deadly attack in Iran at a memorial for slain Iranian Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani.
The attack left dozens dead and hundreds injured, the terror monitoring group SITE reports.
CNN reports that 84 people are dead and 284 injured.
This is the deadliest attack in Iran since the Iranian revolution.

The news is full of episodes of violence, sometimes justified by stand-your-ground and self-defense laws, in which killers claim to have reasonably feared that the victim posed an imminent threat—even when the facts do not seem to support that perception. A number of high-profile killings have shared this “same exact structure,” Siegel notes, in which the “lethal threat” turns out to be an unarmed shoplifter, or a lost driver seeking help, or some other less-than-life-threatening figure.

SIEGEL’S CURRENT book-in-progress, for which she won a Guggenheim Fellowship and took a year’s sabbatical, is about vigilantism and its relationship to what she calls “political vision,” a concept akin to ideology but woolier. She explains that it’s the cluster of beliefs, values, fears, and other “aesthetic sensibilities” that, added together, define what a person perceives as disgusting, disturbing, intolerable, valuable, or reassuring about the world. Adherence to a political vision is what makes vigilante violence purposeful, rather than random.

THE POLICE RIFLES.
Part of what interests her in today’s vigilantism is the interplay between formal and informal politics. In the past, vigilante acts took place in mostly informal realms. “But today,” Siegel says, “we’re bombarded with examples of vigilantism that have much closer relationship with institutional channels, electoral politics, and formal governance.”

It’s widely known that rhetoric from established political figures can prompt ordinary people to violence. But the influence also moves in the opposite direction, Siegel says. At the 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, James Fields Jr., a self-described neo-Nazi, deliberately rammed his car into a crowd of counterprotesters, killing one of them.
He was convicted of murder and hate crimes and sentenced to life in prison. But since then, several states have passed laws granting immunity to people who drive their cars into protestors as an act of “self-defense.” It turns out, Siegel says, that Fields Jr.’s action was “proto-legal.…”
