This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

  7. 10 Min True North. It will be a hard winter in Canada. The Canadian housing market, as reported by Bloomberg, is in a historic bubble that’s ready to pop. Social media is full of young people showing how they live in their cars. Very sad.

      After the August sale, Turkey was forced to agree that the next negotiations between Putin and Erdogan would be held in Russia, not Turkey, despite the fact that the Turks made it clear for 2 months that they would like Putin to come to Turkey in August.

      Russia, on the other hand, was in no hurry to go to the meeting with the Turks, putting forward counter-conditions. As a result, Erdogan was forced to abandon the original plan and agreed to a visit to Russia, which is due to take place in September. Negotiations will be held in Moscow or Sochi.

    Not so honourable, NDP member of parliament for Timmons-James Bay, Charlie Angus tweeted about the Canadian woman who died because she was not allowed a life saving operation because she was not vaccinated.

    Not terribly shocking that he shows not an ounce of compassion. Carol Hughes, federal NDP member of parliament, stated that a Canadian Minister, who was dragged down a highway by police, should have done what he was told.

    Early in the morning of Aug 25, a group of drone developers headed to a launch point in southern Ukraine for one of the most daring aerial missions over Russian-controlled territory to date: an attack on a military base deep in Crimea. It was described as a test launch, with many of the prototypes in the drone swarm experimental.

    But some of them did the job. There were explosions inside the base and several dead, with wounded soldiers seen streaming into the local hospital, according to local sources. That capped a miserable week for the Kremlin, already struggling to explain more than a dozen drones striking the heart of Moscow, repeated shutdowns of major airports and unexplained explosions at arms factories, airfields, fuel depots and railways….

    Morok’s development had been a “miraculous” journey: after one risky test launch a few kilometres from the Russian border, its developers escaped incoming Russian rockets by minutes. Now they aim to step up serial production. Fast and capable of carrying a heavy payload over several hundred kilometres, Morok is among the more promising fixed-wing kamikaze designs being considered by Ukraine…

    The drone campaign is being stepped up now for a number of reasons. The headline-making strikes on Moscow are intended to have a psychological impact, bringing ordinary Russians closer to the reality of war. But Ukrainian military insiders say most of their operations directly support the three-month-old counter-offensive. Much of this is too prosaic to make news. Detective, the pseudonym of a drone co-ordinator in Ukraine’s military intelligence, says:

    “Drones target fuel depots, logistics, ammunition dumps and delivery routes. We respond to appeals from our brigades. They tell us they know where Russian arms are being stored, but have no way of hitting them, and they plead with us to help.”

    Detective says much of his recent work has been focused on airfields near Ukraine’s borders. This “might” have included a recent strike that hit a Tu-22m strategic bomber based near Novgorod, he adds with a wink.

    Russia’s extensive air-defence and electronic-warfare capacity means that any Ukrainian attack requires meticulous planning. Ukraine has developed algorithms that appear to work…. They gather intelligence (often from Western partners) about radars, electronic warfare and air-defence assets. Russia cannot lock down the entirety of its vast territory…

    About 35-40% of drones make it through to the general vicinity of the target. Feedback about a strike’s success is compiled from SATELLITES, tracking devices, social-media reports and local agents.

    Unusually, Ukraine’s drone programme has no single command or procurement structure. The central government… has tried to streamline financing and remove red tape. But bureaucracy, corruption and vested interests in the Ukrainian arms industry continue to act as a drag on development. Some of the operations targeting Moscow appear to be PR projects designed to bring a prototype to the attention of procurement bosses, rather than having military value…

    On the front lines, Russia has erased Ukraine’s initial three-to-one advantage in tactical drones. The two sides are now at parity…..

    New electronic-warfare jamming boxes, fitted on tanks and other high-value assets, are meanwhile reducing the ability of Ukraine’s first-person-view drones to guide payloads into the most vulnerable sections of a target.

    A source in Ukraine’s general staff suggests any technological advantage his country once enjoyed was necessarily temporary. Both sides are learning from the other, he says, and reverse engineering is getting quicker…

      Prior to this, in early March, the police detained a 37-year-old man who was taking photographs in the area of ??the oil refinery on Kapotnya Street. It turned out that he was a native of Ukraine and came to Russia shortly before the start of the war.

      After that, on March 13, local residents noticed a drone flying through the Borisov Ponds in the south of Moscow towards Kapotnya. It was not possible to establish to whom it belonged. Another drone appeared on the night of March 14… also heading towards the refinery.…

      The Gazpromneft refinery in Kapotnya provides 40% of Moscow’s needs for gasoline and 50% for diesel fuel, and is also the main fuel supplier for the capital’s airports. In fact, every third car in Moscow is refueled with fuel from this refinery. Also, the plant is considered one of the largest taxpayers among the enterprises of the capital.

    Volunteer reporter Geoff Cygnus who has been reporting exclusively on the aftermath of Maui after deadly fires razed the island, has released a new video that shows a massive black curtain that has been resurrected around Maui’s ground zero.

    In a new video that was uploaded on both TikTok and Twitter, Cygnus recorded a video of a massive black curtain that stretches all along Lahaina in West Maui.

    Cygnus shared in the video that he stopped his vehicle near the curtain to film but was immediately approached by members of the National Guard and was told to “keep moving.”

    The volunteer reporter also reported seeing “Special Police” who are standing guard “ensuring that nothing can be documented.”

Registrants are required to include the necessary information for them to receive mail, including street and number or rural route and box number and apartment number, if any. The law enables each registrant to receive documents for voting in-person or absentee and other official mailed communications. Access to accurate mailing and residential information is necessary for election officials to help ensure free and fair elections.

    Pope Francis attacked conservative Catholics in the US during a meeting with Jesuits on Monday.

    Francis said US conservative Catholics were “backwards” in their thinking and have replaced faith with ideology.

    The AP reported:

    Pope Francis has blasted the “backwardness” of some conservatives in the U.S. Catholic Church, saying they have replaced faith with ideology and that a correct understanding of Catholic doctrine allows for change over time.

    Francis’ comments were an acknowledgment of the divisions in the U.S. Catholic Church, which has been split between progressives and conservatives who long found support in the doctrinaire papacies of St. John Paul II and Benedict XVI, particularly on issues of abortion and same-sex marriage.

    Many conservatives have blasted Francis’ emphasis instead on social justice issues such as the environment and the poor, while also branding as heretical his opening to letting divorced and civilly remarried Catholics receive the sacraments.

    Francis made the comments in a private meeting with Portuguese members of his Jesuit religious order while visiting Lisbon on Aug. 5; the Jesuit journal La Civilta Cattolica, which is vetted by the Vatican secretariat of state, published a transcript of the encounter Monday.

    This was not an isolated attack on conservative Catholic Americans.

    In June THOUSANDS of Catholics and Protestants gathered outside Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles to protest the team honoring the demonic group the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

    The Dodgers and Major League Baseball allowed the radical demonic gay group who mock Catholics and Christianity to be celebrated before the start of the baseball game.

    Bishop J. Strickland from Texas spoke at the rally and prayed before the game.

    Congressman questions media’s silence on latest Biden scandal

    The American media long have appeared to be complicit in a plan to protect Joe Biden and his family.

    Members cooperated fully when the FBI interfered in the 2020 election, claiming, falsely, that accurate reporting about the evidence of misbehavior found on a laptop abandoned by Hunter Biden was Russian disinformation.

    Then there have been multiple facets of Biden family scandals that have been virtually ignored.

    It’s apparently happening again, and Fox News says one member of Congress is tired of it.

    Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., commenting on the latest bombshell involving the Biden, which emerged in an interview with fired Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin:

    This should be the headline in every news outlet in America. Just think of it, the simplicity of it. Here’s the summary: the president bribed or pressured a foreign leader to fire that country’s top prosecutor because the prosecutor was investigating his son and he used $1,000,000,000 of U.S. taxpayer money to have that bidding done and then he bragged about it on video. I can’t understand why every news outlet is not covering this as the first story this morning and throughout this process. Mr. Shokin, of course, is an important voice in this because he was directly involved, he was the target of the president. And the idea that he believes there was bribery confirms what many of us are already thinking.

    Here is Joe Biden bragging about what he did:

    Johnson said Shokin’s claims confirm “what many of us are already thinking” about President Biden and his son Hunter’s involvement in his firing.

    It was in that interview over the weekend that Shokin “detailed the involvement he believed President Biden, the then-vice president, played in his firing and how it involved Hunter Biden’s business dealings,” the report explained.

    Shokin charged he was fired in 2016 because he was investigating Burisma, the Ukrainian natural gas company that was paying Hunter Biden $1 million a year.

    “Shokin also claimed that Joe and Hunter Biden accepted bribes in the case, and that the then-vice president ultimately hurt America’s reputation and created the groundwork for Russia to invade Ukraine,” the report said.

    “I have said repeatedly in my previous interviews that Poroshenko fired me at the insistence of the then Vice President Biden because I was investigating Burisma,” Shokin charged.

    A White House spokesman claimed the statements were “false.”

    SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is hitting back at the Justice Department over a lawsuit alleging that the company engaged in employment discrimination against asylum recipients and refugees.

    The Dept. of Justice (DOJ) on Thursday announced a lawsuit against SpaceX alleging that the company “routinely discouraged asylees and refugees from applying and refused to hire or consider them, because of their citizenship status, in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).” According to the suit, SpaceX wrongly claimed that federal laws and regulations restricted the company to only hiring U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents, also known as green card holders.

    Musk took to X, the social media platform he acquired that was formerly known as Twitter, and posted in response to a picture of a job posting at the federal Bureau of Prisons showing that U.

  24. Univision News Crew Robbed in Chicago at Gunpoint While Reporting on Armed Robberies

    Univision News crew was robbed at gunpoint in Chicago moments before going live on air. This is the third attack on Chicago media in a month.

    The Chicago Sun-Times reports that “the journalists were reporting on a string of armed robberies across the city, including an armed carjacking of a woman Sunday night in the same block where the crew was robbed.”

    According to police, two vehicles pulled up and three men wearing ski masks brandishing firearms exited the vehicles and robbed the crew near the CTA Blue Line Station at Milwaukee Avenue and Division Street.

    The reporter and photographer were robbed of a camera, two equipment bags and a personal backpack.

  25. South Africa: Attackers Chant “Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer” Before Stabbing Woman with Spear

    After 90,000 supporters of the Economic Freedom Fighters chanted “Kill the Boer, kill the Farmer” in Johannesburg July 30, the New York Times claimed the violent “struggle song” was not meant “literally”, even as farm attacks spiked after the event (Gateway reported). On Aug. 17, a couple was brutally attacked by four men chanting “Kill the Boer.” Thanks to quick reaction by civilian security structures, six culprits were apprehended.

    A farming couple from Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, were severely assaulted on their farm while their attackers allegedly shouted: “Kill the Boer, kill the Farmer,” civil defense group AfriForum reports. Four attackers forced their way into Tim and Amanda Platt’s farmhouse, during the early hours of 17 August 2023. The attackers gained entry to the house by breaking down the front door and security gate, as well as a window and burglar bars. Amanda says:

    “I shouted, ‘just go!’ and he leaned over the door grabbing me… hitting me on the arm with some object then he pulled me so hard while shouting ‘Kill the Boer, kill the Farmer’! I managed to loosen his grip and got away and ran to set the alarm off again but in vain! They were ruthless and persistent – nothing deterred them, not even the alarm nor the fact we were fighting back.”

    Amanda was beaten with a bolt cutter and lead pipes, and eventually stabbed with a spear. While her husband was still trying to fight off the attackers, she managed to escape and returned armed to save her husband. Upon her return, the attackers had already fled.

    Thanks to the swift response of the local farming community and civilian safety structures, six suspects, including the getaway drivers, were apprehended.

    “The chanting of ‘Kill the Boer, kill the Farmer’ is nothing else but the incitement of violence against a minority group. I can only assume that those who try to tell us that the song is just a metaphor, actually support these attacks,” says Jacques Broodryk, AfriForum’s spokesperson for Community Safety.

    “AfriForum has 168 neighbourhood and farm watches countrywide with roughly 11 000 trained volunteers. We will continue to expand these safety networks and continue to train more volunteers to fight back against this scourge of cowardly attacks. I applaud Mrs Platt for her bravery,” says Broodryk.

    AfriForum will appear in the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein on 4 September to appeal the Equality Court’s decision that the “Kill the Boer” chant is not hate speech.

    “As the evidence keeps mounting that chants like ‘Kill the Boer’ in fact have horrific real-world effects, it becomes increasingly difficult for those excusing it to not appear apathetic to violent crime victims when they happen to be farmers,” says Ernst Van Zyl, Campaign Officer for Strategy and Content at AfriForum.

    AfriForum has also released a report detailing racist laws in South Africa.

    “South Africa has adopted 313 pieces of racial legislation since 1910, of which at least 116 came into effect after the advent of democracy in South Africa in 1994”, the report states. “The post-1994 government of South Africa created approximately 37% of South Africa’s racialised laws while still paying lip service to non-racialism and equality.”

    “South Africa has a huge systemic racism issue in the form of BEE (Black Economic Empowerment – affirmative action laws) and the ANC’s growing list of race-laws. It should not be called ‘reverse racism’ either, its just plain racism. Racially discriminatory laws were wrong in the past, and they are wrong in the present,” Van Zyl said.

    Last week, Yevgeny Prigozhin—the former leader of the Russian proxy military group Wagner – died in a plane mishap that was almost certainly retribution for his attempted mutiny in June. Since his death, headlines have appeared in Jewish publications claiming that Prigozhin had, or might have had, Jewish ancestry. Tom Gross puts paid to these claims, and traces their proliferation:

    The first round of headlines claiming Prigozhin was Jewish appeared some months ago…. The rumors that Prigozhin “had Jewish blood” were started by Ukrainian websites that were trying to discredit Prigozhin among his fellow Russians.

    These false claims were then picked up in an irresponsible way by prominent Israeli media outlets, no doubt eager for page clicks… These include the online edition of Israel’s best-selling newspaper Yediot Ahronot.

    Prigozhin’s Wikipedia page, which appears in 71 languages, is now locked and cannot be edited. It says that Prigozhin’s father is Jewish, referencing an article in the Times of Israel. That article is also incorrect. It has been changed to reflect this, but the Wikipedia entry has not. Other media continue to promote this falsehood.

    I have checked and, as far as I can tell, there is no evidence that Prigozhin was in any way Jewish. Indeed, his right-hand man Dmitry Utkin, who died alongside him, was an outright Nazi with swastika and SS tattoos. . . . In a world where anti-Semitism is unfortunately still rife, these kinds of headlines are unhelpful, to put it mildly.

    Embattled U.S.-Iran envoy Robert Malley had his security clearance and State Department credentials pulled in late April after “serious security concerns” were internally raised about his handling of sensitive information, personal conduct, and use of classified networks, according to a leaked letter sent by the State Department’s security division.

    Government investigators “received information regarding you that raises serious security concerns and can be disqualifying under” top-secret security guidelines, according to the letter, which was published over the weekend by the Tehran Times, an Iranian state-controlled media outlet.

    The letter details how Malley may have breached three separate security guidelines meant to protect classified information. Malley was put on unpaid leave earlier this year after it was revealed that his security clearance was revoked and the matter turned over to the FBI for investigation.
