Niger, Trump, eliminating racist letters and more: Links 1 for August 2nd, 2023

1. There is more and more appearing about abuse of ethnic Hungarians by the Kiev regime in various sources all the time now. Will post when able. Here is a story which of course, has no verification whatsoever and could easily be Russian Propaganda. But given what we are learning about the Biden crime family and their connections to the Kiev regime, and how they have lied about this war from day 1 for reasons that probably have more to do with covering for their own crimes, the benefit of the doubt could go either way. For sure the Kiev regime is massively corrupt and all the Western press repeatedly stated that right up until the Russians decided to liberate/attack the Donbas.

2. FOX:  United States imposes travel restrictions on Hungarian citizens over verification concerns

WARNING: Stupid autoplay video with music at link

The United States imposed new travel restrictions on citizens of Hungary on Tuesday over concerns that the identities of nearly 1 million foreigners granted Hungarian passports over nine years weren’t sufficiently verified, according to the U.S. Embassy and a government official.

The restrictions apply to the U.S. Visa Waiver Program, which allows passport holders from 40 countries to enter the United States for business or tourism without a visa for up to 90 days.

The validity period of travel for Hungarian passport holders under the Electronic System for Travel Authorization was reduced from two years to one year, and each traveler will be limited to a single entry into the United States. They are the only such restrictions among the 40 participating states in the Visa Waiver Program.

(If you are looking for anything like truth in that article, check the comments. They pretty much nail the issue)

From the Hungarian side:

The U.S. Regards Members of the Hungarian Minority as “Security Concern”

Washington cites security concerns as the reason for its move to restrict visa-free travel for Hungarian passport holders. Of the forty countries participating in the program, Hungary is the only one affected. The US embassy says the Hungarian government has not addressed the concerns raised – reportsPolitico.eu.

The United States has restricted Hungary’s participation in its visa waiver program due to security concerns about new passports issued between 2011 and 2020. Under the U.S. Visa Waiver Program, citizens of participating countries can travel to the US for tourism or business purposes for up to 90 days without a visa, using only an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).

However, from Tuesday, the validity of the ESTA for Hungarian passport holders will be reduced from two years to one year and will be valid for one-time use only. Forty countries are participating in the program, with Hungary being the only country affected by the restriction. The U.S. Embassy statement attributes the decision to the fact that between 2011 and 2020, the Hungarian government granted Hungarian citizenship to nearly one million people under a simplified naturalization procedure without proper security clearance of their identities.

3. Repressive tolerance?

Click through for video. But its harsh.

Clearly we have to remove the letter betwee_ M a_d O from the English alphabet e_tirely. Its the only way to e_d racism. Probably _ext is the letter _ though, a_d after that, _ _ a_d _. R___t?

Niger coup casts doubt on Canada’s African strategy of spending millions on military training, development

[…]For a decade, Canada has pursued a quiet campaign to stabilize the fragile West African country of Niger, spending hundreds of millions of dollars on development and security projects to defend an impoverished democracy surrounded by autocratic regimes and Islamist militias.

[…]Canada provided more than $520-million in development assistance to Niger in the period from 2000 to 2020, followed by an additional $59.3-million in 2021-2022 alone, according to Global Affairs.

[…]The Canadian Armed Forces have been training Niger’s military for the past decade, under a Canadian program called Operation Naberius.

[…]Canadian military trainers have also focused on helping Niger’s military officers in the annual U.S.-sponsored training exercise known as Flintlock.

[…]the training included Canadian military values, such as respect for democracy

[…]Canada’s dilemma in Niger is similar to its earlier quandary in Mali, where the federal government provided $1.6-billion in development aid from 2000 to 2020.

[…]“We are currently in West Africa in a context where democracy has not delivered the type of outcomes that were supposed to come with it,

West Africa Is Gearing Up For A Regional War

The latest events don’t inspire confidence that a wider war in West Africa can be averted, which is why everyone should brace themselves for one breaking out sometime later this month. If NATO-backed and Nigerian-led ECOWAS doesn’t swiftly defeat the newly formed Sahelian Coalition of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger (with Guinea possibly joining them in some capacity), then Russia is expected to tangibly support the latter, thus leading to a New Cold War proxy conflict in which Chad could be the kingmaker.

    ……….
The Mainstream Media’s New Narrative Is That Niger Is Now A Global Epicenter Of Terrorism

It’s full-blown fake news to claim that Niger is now a global epicenter of terrorism, but the MSM is expected to maximally amplify this false narrative in an attempt to scare the public into supporting the planned NATO-backed Nigerian-led ECOWAS invasion of that country.

This approach risks discrediting itself, however, if it triggers the wrong memories from the so-called “Global War on Terror” by reminding the public of how skeptical they eventually became of it by the end of Bush Jr.’s rule.

At the Russia-Africa Summit, Russia’s Dual Africa Strategy Was on Full Display

Analyzing Russia’s Mali strategy, researchers… described it as a two-sided presence, featuring official and unofficial sides. This dual nature of Russia’s Mali engagements can be found also in other Russian engagements in the continent and was overtly on display in St. Petersburg during the 2023 Russia-Africa Summit and its accompanying public forum.

Russia’s African engagements consist of an official side, characterized by trade and investment, diplomatic relations, public diplomacy, and UN initiatives, among other forms of engagement.

The other side is the unofficial or covert element. This is where the Prigozhins and Malofeyevs come into play, as well as state-controlled media RT and Sputnik and Russia’s intelligence agencies.

The 2023 Russia-Africa Summit pretended to be all about the presentable public face of Russia-Africa ties, but the hidden “dark” side of Russia’s foreign policy was well represented as well.
      …
Making headlines again was Yevgeny Prigozhin. Unlike the 2019 summit, Prigozhin made an appearance in St. Petersburg during the conference, meeting a member of the Central African Republic delegation. [Plus other bigshots, too inside baseball for most foreigners.]
      …
Already well present in the continent, Russian intelligence had opportunities to connect with their counterparts at the summit.…

[This is when they cooked up the Niger coup.]

What are the implications for the African states involved? We can think of the countries represented at the summit as divided between those with governments dependent on Russia and those that are hedging with Russia’s offer.

In the case of the former, these are the juntas and other isolated regimes, whose survival in power depends on the weapons, money and security services afforded by Moscow.

In the latter, these are those eager to receive international attention in the face of the unfolding climate catastrophe and looming hunger, many countries are choosing to engage Russia despite its criminal war of aggression. These two groups have – in this very general and simple scheme – different outcomes.…

  4. From Brookings, just before the invasion, Feb. 8, 2022:

Russia’s Wagner Group in Africa: Influence, commercial concessions, rights violations, and counterinsurgency failure

In its African strategy, the Kremlin is motivated foremost by a desire to thwart U.S. policy objectives, almost irrespective of their substance. Considering Africa “ one of Russia’s foreign policy priorities ,” Russian President Vladimir Putin also seeks to create African dependencies on Moscow’s military assets and access African resources, targeting countries that have fragile governments but are often rich in important raw materials, such as oil, gold, diamonds, uranium, and manganese .

Russian private security companies such as the Wagner Group purport to redress complex local military and terrorism conflicts with which African governments have struggled. They also offer to these governments the ability to conduct counterinsurgency and counterterrorism operations unconstrained by human rights responsibilities, unlike the United States, allowing African governments to be as brutish in their military efforts as they like.

In turn, Russia seeks payment in concessions for natural resources, substantial commercial contracts, or access to strategic locations, such as airbases or ports.

    • Anything Brookings has to be read through the filter that it is full of neo-cons and former obongo apparatchiks…

      • Yes.
Gotta compare and contrast. This is enemy content, but way more substantive than western MSM propaganda. It’s another Natostani organ.

Another source, RAND Corp., has swung around completely. They used to strategize on how to dismember the RF. For the last year or so they’re arguing reality: give it up, end the war in Ukraine NOW.

RAND is thoroughly schooled in Soviet info war tactics, the world’s best. They’re highly capable – insights Russia takes seriously. Know thy enemy stuff.

They were superb on the Khashoggi info op. If we had paid attention then, Saudi Arabia wouldn’t be kissy-face with China and Russia now.

  5. Maybe Turdeau’s Canada is interested in Niger for its minerals, especially uranium and not so much for its”impoverishment” and lack of “democracy”….
