Reader’s Links for July 25th, 2023

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

    • Whenever I hear or read the word ‘democracy’, I feel sick: if democracy means rule by the people it has not been that way for a very long time. Is the Democratic Party of the us Democratic? It is fascistic. Is the Democratic Republic of Congo Democratic? it is a tribal dictatorship. I hear all the time from so called conservatives in US, we need to save our Democracy! BS! The US is/ was a representative republic. Whether Israel is and should be a democracy, is a moot point. In my opinion, we need to return to the biblical state of laws in Israel and stop pandering to terrorists. Democracy is a word all dictatorships hide behind, like the eu, which is the fourth reich Adolf hitler wrote about in mein Kampf.

    It is a fair statement that any time throughout history humans felt the threats around them to be existential. Slightly ironic that, increasingly, the threats that hold us hostage now (or as my daughter would say “hold us sausage”), besides the real ones like nuclear war, are theater contrived by people to frighten and control other people. So given that our greatest threat is ourselves, it is a fair question to ask the motives of those who are willing to sacrifice millions of lives on lies.       China has asked parents to REPORT their children to the police if they use Telegram or WhatsApp because these apps could help to facilitate the organization of protests. Telegram, and other encrypted messaging apps, played a crucial role in the organization of multiple protests against the country’s zero-COVID policy— some of the largest protests recorded in the country since the Tiananmen Square demonstrations of 1989.

      Methinks cutting down millions of trees, planting made in China solar panels, and then blocking out the sun makes as much sense as the Anglican Church coming up with a prayer for gender change.

  15. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a top contender for the 2024 Republican nomination, was involved in a car accident while traveling to a campaign event in Tennessee on Tuesday morning.

    DeSantis campaign press secretary Bryan Griffin told The Post that the 44-year-old and his team were “uninjured” following the accident en route to Chattanooga.

    “We appreciate the prayers and well-wishes of the nation for his continued protection while on the campaign trail,” Griffin added.

    A spokesman for the Chattanooga Police Department told The Post the crash occurred as DeSantis and his team were heading southbound in a four-car motorcade on Interstate 75.

    The group got caught in heavy traffic near the exit for Tennessee State Route 320.

  16. A prominent civil rights figure who helped craft Florida’s African American history standards has blasted Vice President Kamala Harris’ assessment of the curriculum as “categorically false.”

    Dr. William Allen, former chairman of the US Commission on Civil Rights, says Harris was way off when she claimed in a speech last week that the standards suggested slavery was beneficial to black Americans.

    “The only criticism I’ve encountered so far [on the new curriculum] is a single one that was articulated by the vice president, and which was an error,” Allen, who is black, told ABC News in footage touted by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ press secretary.

    “As I stated in my response to the vice president, it was categorically false. It was never said that slavery was beneficial to Africans,” said Adams, who was on the working group that helped devise the curriculum.

  17. Grammy-award winner Tori Kelly is in “really serious” condition after passing out due to blood clots that had formed around her vital organs.

    Sources close to the singer said she was out for dinner in a downtown Los Angeles restaurant when her heart started beating very quickly, according to TMZ. Kelly then reportedly passed out and was “out for a while,” which prompted her friends to jump into action. They wanted her to be taken to one of the country’s premiere hospitals – Cedars Sinai – so they physically carried her into their vehicle, and rushed her there, where she remains in ICU.

    Some would call this an interesting coincidence while others may suspect something more.

    It turns out that Barack and Michelle Obama were on Martha’s Vineyard at the same time their personal chef drowned under mysterious circumstances.

    Obama’s office previously claimed that the former president and his wife were not present at the residence when Tafari drowned. Now they are altering the story to say they were indeed on the property.

    The Gateway Pundit reported Monday night that the body of a 45-year-old paddle boarder was found in a pond on Obama’s Martha’s Vineyard mansion. The person was later identified as Obama’s personal chef Tafari Campbell, who is from Dumfires, Virginia.

    A 911 call came from Obama’s residence late Sunday night. It is not know at this time who dialed the police.

    Police were searching for a missing black male paddle boarder in Edgartown Great Pond on Sunday night.

    The Daily Mail revealed Tuesday that Barack and Michelle were staying on the property when Campbell perished. Not surprisingly, the Obamas employees had a little trouble getting their facts straight.

    Initially, the Obamas’ office said they were not home. Their office clarified on Monday that they were on the island, just not at the residence when Campbell drowned.

    Adding to the mystery is that Jim Hoft reported earlier Tuesday that Campbell had taken swimming lessons as recently as 2019. This seemingly contradicts initial assumptions that he may have drowned due to an inability to swim.

    Among those convicted was Salah Abdeslam, who already is serving a life sentence without parole in France over his role in attacks that hit Paris cafes, the Bataclan theatre and France’s national stadium in 2015.
    Both the Brussels and Paris attacks were claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group. The verdict was reported by public broadcaster RTBF, newspaper Le Soir and news websites HLN and Nieuwsblad.

  23. Homeowners When They Returned Fire During Burglary Attempt

    McDonald County, Missouri is in the extreme southwest part of the state, hard on the borders of Oklahoma and Arkansas. It’s an Ozark county populated by people who declared their independence from the state in 1961. In short, they’re not people you want to mess with.

    If only a would-be burglar knew a little more about McDonald County before he let himself into a local home last week.

    Two homeowners came home at about 9:30pm to find 62-year-old James Garrett skulking around their Tiff City house. Both were armed when the intruder took a shot at them. They then returned fire and both hit their target.

    According to the McDonald County Sheriff, things were well in hand by the time deputies arrived.

    Arriving deputies made contact with the homeowners who had come home to find a man inside the home. The homeowners entered the house to find a man barricaded in a room. The burglar fired a shot at the homeowners from a handgun. The homeowners, who were both armed with handguns, returned fire, striking the burglar with a gun shot in each thigh. The homeowners were able to then disarm the burglar and hold him until deputies arrived.

    The wounded burglar was identified as James F. Garrett, 62, rural Seneca. Garrett was transported by ambulance to a Joplin Hospital.

    Neither homeowner was injured by the shot Garret took at them.

    Garrett will be facing charges of burglary, first degree assault, and armed criminal action once he gets out of the hospital. No charges were filed against the homeowners.
