Ukraine claims its Western backers failed on F-16 pledge
Ukraine was told that its pilots would start training in F-16 fighter jets in June, but the program has not yet been launched, the Ukrainian foreign minister [Dmitry Kuleba] has claimed.
“One of the countries,” which is part of the so-called fighter jet coalition, promised that the scheme would start last month…
“The training did not start in June. This means that the schedule is starting to shift… We’re now working with all the parties involved… to speed this process up as much as possible….”
According to the minister, the unnamed country “miscalculated” when it made its pledge to Kiev, but is continuing to make preparations for Ukrainian airmen to be trained with the American aircraft.
Kuleba said he was previously expecting to get the F-16s in the first few months of 2024, but the delay in training now means the wait will be longer.
Last month, Igor Zhovkva, an aide to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, said nine countries – the US, UK, the Netherlands, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Portugal and France – had formed a coalition to help Ukraine obtain the warplanes.

Left-wing activists accused of ‘desecrating’ Palestinian mosque
A group of left-wing Israeli activists was kicked out of a mosque in Urif in northern Samaria on Sunday, and the imam who hosted them was fired.
A delegation from the Israeli NGO Tag Meir visited the hometown of the two Hamas members who killed four Israeli civilians near Eli on June 20, after residents reported that Jewish vigilantes had damaged the mosque in revenge for the shooting…
According to the report, a video and photos of the activists inside the mosque caused an uproar in the village because of the activists’ immodest clothing, and in particular that of Shira Ben-Sasson Furstenberg, associate director in Israel of the U.S.-based, far-left New Israel Fund.
Residents of the village said that Furstenberg had “blasphemed” the mosque and demanded that the imam, Sheikh Kerem Shahada, be fired over the incident. The mosque leader published a video apologizing for the event and said that he had been misled by the village council, which had informed him that it would be a group of journalists.
He came to the mosque to discover that the group consisted of left-wing Israeli activists whom he called “Jews, infidel settlers.” The imam said that he expelled them from the mosque, although the Tag Meir activists denied that they were kicked out.
“When I came to the mosque, I was surprised that a group from the Jewish side was coming in the clothes you saw,” the imam says in the video.
“Of course, what happened is a sad thing, it is a forbidden thing and it is a shameful thing. And of course I understood the danger of the situation, when I looked and saw them in this way. Allah knows that I did not know….”
The video provoked more reactions from the villagers, and on Sunday the imam announced that he had been fired from his position at the mosque.

Citing antisemitism, the CEO of Kars4Kids is challenging New York’s concealed carry law in court
The CEO of Kars4Kids, the Jewish charity with a catchy advertising jingle, is challenging New York state’s concealed carry law in court – claiming that it leaves children vulnerable to antisemitic attacks…
“The violent attacks on Jewish people targeting places of worship and places where children are – the most vulnerable of the population – are random and provide the victims with no notice or advance warning…”
The suit is one of several challenging the Concealed Carry Improvement Act, which was passed last year after the Supreme Court struck down an earlier firearms ban. The act limits where New Yorkers can carry firearms, including a ban on carrying in “sensitive locations” such as schools, medical facilities or houses of worship, among others.
Another lawsuit has been brought by two pastors seeking to carry weapons in church, and in May, lawmakers amended the act to allow pastors and designated security personnel to carry weapons in houses of worship.

I admit I don’t quite follow the logic. It seems that since the Jews control the world, then they are obviously responsible for an ex-Iraqi in Sweden choosing to burn the Quran.
It is interesting that even though the Houthi’s slogan includes “Curse the Jews,” there is very little coverage of their explicit antisemitism in Western media. Moreover, the Houthi’s main Shiite allies, who claim to be only anti-Zionist and not antisemitic in the least, have absolutely nothing negative to say about the Houthi’s explicit (and in this case barely implicit) Jew-hatred.

A BBC anchor told former Israeli prime minister Naftali Bennett that “Israeli forces are happy to kill children” in an interview where Bennett responded to criticism of the Israeli operation in Jenin. The BBC interview was conducted by host Anjana Gadgil and was posted to Bennett’s YouTube channel on Wednesday.
“The Israeli military are calling this a ‘military operation,’ but we now know that young people are being killed, four of them under eighteen. Is that really what the military set out to do? To kill people between the ages of 16 and 18?”
“Quite to the contrary,” Bennet replied. “Actually, all 11 people dead there are militants. The fact that there are young terrorists who decide to hold arms is their responsibility.”

UN Security Council to hold closed door meeting on Jenin
The United Nations Security Council plans to hold a closed-door meeting Friday on the two-day IDF military raid on the West Bank city of Jenin to destroy Palestinian terror infrastructure that ended early Wednesday morning.
The United Kingdom, which holds the rotating presidency of the Security Council for the month of July, convened the session at the request of the United Arab Emirates, France, China, and Brazil.

Israeli woman held hostage in Iraq by Hezbollah
Israeli-Russian citizen Elizabeth Tzurkov is being held hostage by the Shi’ite militia Khataib Hezbollah in Iraq, the Prime Minister’s Office announced on Wednesday.
Tzurkov has been missing in Iraq since March, but is alive and well, considering the circumstances, a senior Israeli diplomatic source said. The PMO said that it sees Iraq as responsible for her well-being…
Tzurkov entered Iraq on her Russian passport to do research for her PhD at Princeton University, a senior diplomatic source said, and she has likely traveled to Lebanon and Syria as well.
It is illegal for Israelis to enter enemy states such as Iraq, even with a foreign passport. The source pointed out that the government of Israel has long warned against such travel.
Tzurkov, a former leader of the left-wing Palestinian rights NGO Gisha, was a prominent voice on twitter with regards to the Syrian civil war for many years, and has tweeted about her IDF service. The diplomatic source said it is likely Khataib Hezbollah knew she was Israeli.
He also said it is possible that Iran is apprised of the situation.
Asked about rumors spread on social media, the diplomatic source categorically denied that Tzurkov is a Mossad agent or that she went to Iraq on any official Israeli business.
Israel preferred to keep the hostage situation quiet, but the PMO released the information ahead of a news report on the matter.

Pregnant woman injured in Tel Aviv terror attack loses baby
A pregnant woman injured in a Tel Aviv terror attack yesterday has lost her baby.
The woman was one of seven people injured after a Palestinian terrorist carried out a car-ramming and stabbing attack in Tel Aviv yesterday afternoon.
The combined car-ramming and stabbing took place on Pinchas Rosen Street.
The Israeli Police said they received a report about “a car that attacked a number of civilians” in north Tel Aviv.
A spokesman added: “It appears that the suspect was driving a vehicle traveling from south to north, rammed into pedestrians standing in the shopping centre and proceeded to get out of the vehicle to stab civilians with a sharp object.”
Speaking at the scene of the attack, police chief Yaakov Shabtai said the “terrorist” was a resident of the West Bank and was shot dead by an armed passerby.
A local medical official said the incident appeared to have included at least one stabbing victim.
