First of all, thanks to everyone who made it a worthwhile experiment. At first it was interesting, and it grew, We absorbed growing costs, even if it was an echo-chamber of sorts, because it was a great place for like minded people to say things Facebook and Twitter would not allow, then or now for that matter. As it federated more pods, it became a great place to find new people with interesting thoughts and analysis and news items. But engagement has plummeted so at this point we can’t justify paying for it anymore. Also scaling it down takes hours of work by an expert who’s time is very valuable. So for the moment, we are spinning it down.
Thank you all again for everyone who participated in the Mastodon Pod, and there are a couple of people who set up monthly donations to help fund it. You may want to cancel those now as the project is shelved for the moment.
