As an aside, yesterday I completed the Bank of Canada survey on CBDCs (thank you to Xa- who posted it). As I expected, it is farcical. Leading questions, questions that limit responses, propagandistic statements where no opportunity to reply is provided, presumptuous questions where the premise is already disagreeable and you wish you could back up their truck to get to the root, and on.
There are, however, boxes at a couple of places in the survey where one can deliver an opinion or two. In these I asked why no referendum on an issue so large? I asked about the devaluation of fiat since 1971. I pointed out Trudeau’s treatment of the truckers so why should we trust anything government does or says now? I objected to the government’s assertion that digital money will mitigate terrorism and money laundering. How? I asked. It is a presumption without an iota of evidence. At the second box I gave the reasons why the questions deserved no further real input because the questions did not want real input, and didn’t allow for it anyway. It is a pseudo-democratic exersize. But I did finish the survey and I urge all other Dystopians to do the same. Be careful though. If you study the questions they get you coming and going. For example: How often in the last month have you used a credit card, debit card, on-line payment or cash? Well, we use these things all the time, don’t we? But it doesn’t mean that because we are deep in a convenience trap that we wish to sacrifice what remains of our freedom by succumbing to the mother of all totalitarian check-mates, does it?

Former Department of Defense Chief of Staff and Deputy Director of National Intelligence under President Trump, Kash Patel, spoke to The Gateway Pundit about his new book, “Government Gangsters“, which is set to finally be released after the federal government delayed it for nine months and Patel had to file a lawsuit for security clearance.
The official release date is currently being adjusted based on the government finally clearing the book for public release.
A line from Patel’s new book reads, “They spent nearly 9 months to redact minor portions of 10 paragraphs, none of which is a substance-based redaction regarding classification and protecting sensitive information. A total ruse by government gangsters exposed.”
Kash Patel told The Gateway Pundit they are trying to “bury” the story ” because the book exposes, by name and agency, every corrupt actor I encountered, puts them on blast, and tells the world how we remove them from power and restore our agencies to work for the American people.”
When asked if the attempted suppression of his book has anything to do with the 2024 election cycle, Kash responded, “Yes, 100%.” He continued, “Because I served in senior-level Trump Administration positions, much of what I discuss is events that happened that were monumental successes in his admin, i.e., Baghdadi raid, hostage rescues, Afghan withdrawal, and how people tried to stop each of those because they didn’t want Trump to have the ‘victory’ — all so the media would not show Trump in a good light for the 2020 election cycle.”
“Case in point, the morning after we killed Baghdadi, CNN actually wrote an article calling Baghdadi a ‘cleric’ — the world’s number terrorist was a cleric to them.”
This propaganda and collusion between the government and the media are increasingly seen today with sham investigations, raids, and indictments against President Trump and his supporters. Kash Patel previously responded to the infamous Mar-a-Lago raid and Deep State’s attempt to frame the President, saying, “It’s being run by government gangsters like Chris Wray and Merrick Garland, and it all goes back to Russiagate.”
Patel finished his manuscript last year and submitted it for prepublication review to the Department of Defense, as required by former government and defense industry employees. “It takes usually three to four months,” said Patel. “We’re going on month nine right now.”
According to a Department of Defense pamphlet,
A security and policy review, or pre- publication review, is the process by which information proposed for public release is examined to ensure compliance with DoD and national policies and to determine that it contains no classified, controlled unclassified, or export-controlled information.
DoD Instruction 5230.29, Enclosure 3, para 3 states, “Manuscripts and books will be submitted to DOPSR at least 30 working days before the date needed and before submission to a publisher. More time may be needed if DOPSR determines that the material is complex or requires review by agencies outside of the DoD.”
Patel said it took nine months for this standard review, and “They sent it to more agencies and departments than I’ve ever heard of. And I used to be involved in this process with a leadership position in the DOD and the White House. It’s unheard of that they sent it to nine separate agencies and departments.”
“The reason they delayed, in my opinion, is because they don’t want to book out, and they don’t want me calling out people for failing to do their jobs at every agency department, Democrat or Republican,” he added.
More from Kash Patel: The two-tier system of justice is a theme — it’s not the uniparty failing to do their job, it’s them succeeding. Each national security event that would be Hailed a success is weaponized against the American people, i.e. the border, drug trafficking, taking on Russia, China, Iran, etc. All of these wins were muffled.
The crux of the book is many of these instances where the government gangsters combined with their conspirators in the media to leak false narratives, think covid origins, just to annihilate Trump with disinformation, when in fact, he was pounding through that and delivering on his campaign promise to put America First
Patel also told The Gateway Pundit, “It got so far that I had to file a federal lawsuit, suing the government to release my manuscript because I know, as a former high-level Intel guy, Deputy DNI and DOD Chief of Staff, I’m not writing classified information. That’s not what I was going to do, but they use the common tactic of redactions and this ploy of burying your book and delaying it to basically hide the truth.”
On Wednesday, Patel and his team finally received an adjudication letter from the DoD, clearing his book for publication with what he calls “minor” redactions.
Many have already preordered the book, but Patel says the publication date keeps shifting back because they would not respond to his inquiries until recently when he filed a lawsuit.
The book is expected to be released later this summer. “They know that I can’t just print 100,000 copies of the book tomorrow. It probably takes 30 or 60 days,” said Patel.

President Trump’s former lawyer Tim Parlatore believes the former president’s defense team will claim prosecutorial misconduct in Jack Smith’s ongoing classified documents probe.
Special Counsel Jack Smith has been investigating Trump after he stored presidential records at Mar-a-Lago and whether the former president tried to obstruct the probe.
Tim Parlatore told CBS’s Catherine Herridge he was “stunned” by what he saw in the grand jury room by the conduct of the prosecutors.
“I witnessed a lot of misconduct,” Tim Parlatore told CBS’s Catherine Herridge Wednesday evening, explaining he went before the grand jury himself.
“I was really stunned by what I saw in the grand jury room by the conduct of the prosecutors,” Tim Parlatore said. “They made many attempts to try to get privileged communications. They would ask me about conversations with my client. They would make improper references to the jury to try and mislead them about that.”
He continued, “At one point it got to the level where they’re asking me this again and then would turn to the grand jury and say, ‘so you would refusing to provide this information!’ No, I’m not refusing to provide it. The ethical rules prohibit me even if the answer to this question is helpful, I’m not allowed to give it and I turned to the jury and said ‘and she knows it She knows that it is an improper question!’”
Trump’s former lawyer explained that the federal prosecutor “crossed a major red line” because implying guilt to a jury based on the “invocation of a Constitutional right is the kind of thing that if it happened in a trial court, the judge would have immediately stopped everything, probably declared a mistrial…and the attorney who willfully does that type of thing would potentially face discipline.”

The lawyer for Donald Trump’s valet, under scrutiny in the Mar-a-Lago documents investigation, has submitted court papers describing a meeting at which a top federal prosecutor brought up his application to be a judge when they tried to gain the valet’s cooperation last year, according to three people familiar with the matter.

Members of Congress aren’t allowed to talk like this. The Constitution of the United States prohibits it. American citizens have an inalienable right to critique and criticize their political leaders. Our politicians are not gods. They’re instruments of the public’s will. They serve the rest of us, not the other way around. For that obvious reason, politicians can never censor our speech or try to control what we think. That unchanging fact is the basis of our founding documents, of our political system and our personal freedoms. As a former government official who claims now to be a journalist, Jen Psaki should know this, and defend America’s foundational principle. She refuses. Instead, Psaki nods along like a fan as Sandy Cortez calls for law enforcement to shut down news programming. The White House Correspondents Association and various other self-described advocates of press freedom stay silent too. Apparently they agree with Ocasio-Cortes, or they’re too afraid to say otherwise.
It’s distressing to watch this. The last thing America needs is more public figures saying radical things. What if we came on the air five nights a week and called for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes to be handcuffed and carted away because we don’t like her political views? We could certainly do that. We never would, because it would be terrible for our country. Extremism is self-perpetuating — the more you encourage, the more you get, exponentially. We don’t want that. We want to live in the United States we had a few years ago, where people who disagreed with one another were willing to debate directly, using facts and reason, and didn’t call for their opponents’ imprisonment. We’ll do whatever we can to return to that standard, including giving Sandy Cortez airtime. She is welcome on this show any time. We’ll travel to meet her anywhere, and give her the full hour. We’ll be civil and rational, and let those watching decide who’s got a more appealing vision for America’s future. We’ve asked her to come on this show many times. We’ll continue to do that.

Locked and Loaded: Third Circuit Declares Federal Gun Law Unconstitutional Over Ex-Felon Rights
Yesterday, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit handed down a major ruling in favor of the Second Amendment rights of ex-felons. At issue was the federal “felon-in-possession” law—18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1), which bars ex-felons from possession of firearms. While it is always risky to bet on granting of review before the Supreme Court, this en banc decision is well positioned for a Supreme Court showdown over the Second Amendment.
The federal law makes it “unlawful for any person . . . who has been convicted in any court, of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year” to “possess in or affecting commerce, any firearm or ammunition.”
In this case, Bryan David Range pleaded guilty in the Court of Common Pleas of Lancaster County to one count of making a false statement to obtain food stamps. He later explained that he was earning between $9.00 and $9.50 an hour to support his wife and three young children on $300 per week. Range’s wife applied for food stamps but understated Range’s income, which she and Range signed. Range later took responsibility for the misrepresentation.
Range received three years’ probation (which he completed) and had to pay thousands in fines. However, when Range pleaded guilty in 1995, his conviction was classified as a Pennsylvania misdemeanor punishable by up to five years’ imprisonment. That triggered the federal ban. When his wife recently bought him a deer-hunting rifle, he learned that he was barred under federal law. District Judge Gene E.K. Pratter ruled against him.
Judge Pratter looked at five factors to determine whether Range was an “unvirtuous citizen” due to his conviction as a historical justification for the denial of gun possession. Those factors were “(1) whether the conviction was classified as a misdemeanor or a felony; (2) whether the elements of the offense involve violence; (3) the sentence imposed; (4) whether there was a cross-jurisdictional consensus as to the seriousness of the crime,… and (5) the potential for physical harm to others created by the offense.” The government conceded that four of the five favored Range, but Pratter found that he was still properly barred under the “cross-jurisdictional consensus” among other states.
Judge Thomas Hardiman wrote the majority opinion, supported by nine of fifteen judges. Four judges (Shwartz, Restrepo, Krause, and Roth) dissented.
The majority declared:
In sum, we reject the Government’s contention that only “law-abiding, responsible citizens” are counted among “the people” protected by the Second Amendment. Heller and its progeny lead us to conclude that Bryan Range remains among “the people” despite his 1995 false statement conviction. Having determined that Range is one of “the people,” we turn to the easy question: whether § 922(g)(1) regulates Second Amendment conduct. It does. Range’s request—to possess a rifle to hunt and a shotgun to defend himself at home—tracks the constitutional right as defined by Heller. 554 U.S. at 582 (“[T]he Second Amendment extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding.”). So “the Second Amendment’s plain text covers [Range’s] conduct,” and “the Constitution presumptively protects that conduct.” Bruen, 142 S. Ct. at 2126.
Gene Volokh noted that the Supreme Court could grant cert”in conjunction with the Fifth Circuit domestic civil restraining order automatic disarmament case, U.S. v. Rahimi. As a practical matter, this is a much more important case than Rahimi (which itself is quite important).”
The case has one of the strongest profiles for review by the Supreme Court. There is now a split among the circuits and this is a well-argued en banc decision. It also is an appeal that would be made by the United States over the invalidation of a federal statute. If you were a betting person, this is your best bet for a grant of the writ of certiorari.
If accepted, the case would present a question that I flagged during the confirmation hearings of Justice Amy Coney Barrett. At the time, I was particularly interested in her dissent in Kanter v. Barr. Rickey Kanter was convicted of one count of felony mail fraud for defrauding Medicare in connection with therapeutic shoe inserts. The Seventh Circuit panel split 2-1 with Barrett in dissent. Focusing on the “history and tradition” of such restrictions, Barrett also took on the voting rights and jury service point with a key distinction:
“The problem with this argument is that virtue exclusions are associated with civic rights—individual rights that “require[ ] citizens to act in a collective manner for distinctly public purposes.” See Saul Cornell, A New Paradigm for the Second Amendment , 22 LAW & HIST. REV. 161, 165 (2004). For example, the right to vote is held by individuals, but they do not exercise it solely for their own sake; rather, they cast votes as part of the collective enterprise of self-governance. Similarly, individuals do not serve on juries for their own sake, but as part of the collective enterprise of administering justice…
Heller , however, expressly rejects the argument that the Second Amendment protects a purely civic right. Moore v. Madigan , 702 F.3d 933, 935 (7th Cir. 2012). It squarely holds that “the Second Amendment confer[s] an individual right to keep and bear arms,” Heller , 554 U.S. at 595, 128 S.Ct. 2783 (emphasis added), and it emphasizes that the Second Amendment is rooted in the individual’s right to defend himself—not in his right to serve in a well-regulated militia, id. at 582–86, 128 S.Ct. 2783.”
Range has obviously strong analogies to Kanter and could allow now Justice Barrett to revisit the issue in a major new Second Amendment opinion.

During a Wednesday confirmation hearing for D.C. District Judge Nominee Loren AliKhan, Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) challenged her for having previously defended restrictions on religious services due to COVID-19 concerns.
In the hearing, Hawley questioned AliKhan’s stance on religious discrimination. When asked if she believed it was wrong to discriminate on the basis of religious faith, AliKhan responded affirmatively.
“[Then] why did you argue that religious services, [and] religious people, pose a greater risk of infection than people gathered to argue for defunding the police,” asked Hawley.
AliKhan explained that her arguments in the past were made in her role as a representative for her then-client, Mayor Bowser.
On September 22, 2020, Capitol Hill Baptist Church, a historic institution in the nation’s capital, filed a lawsuit against Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser.
The Church, which has conducted weekly worship services for 142 years, had to shut its doors in March due to Mayor Bowser’s COVID-19 mandates. While initially compliant, the Church has grown frustrated as the Mayor lifted restrictions in other areas such as the BLM protests while maintaining stringent rules for religious gatherings.
As protests unfolded across the city and restrictions eased in other sectors, the Church requested permission to hold its weekly service outdoors, with congregants following public health guidelines, including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. However, the District denied the request, citing that the Church’s doctrinal obligation of weekly gatherings of the entire congregation contravened the Mayor’s directive prohibiting religious assemblies of more than 100 people, either indoors or outdoors.
AliKhan elaborated that the mayor, after consulting with epidemiologists, had implemented orders she believed would protect public health.
“I was representing my client, the mayor, in consulting epidemiologists, had issued orders that she thought were going to protect public health. It was my role to defend those…” said AliKhan.
“Why’d you make that argument? This seems like a strange argument to me that religious people are somehow what more infectious than folks who have other ideological positions. I don’t get it,” said Hawley.
AliKhan said it was the nature of activities such as singing in religious services that epidemiologists believed could increase the transmission of COVID-19.
Hawley countered by stating that AliKhan had not provided any scientific evidence to back her arguments and accused her of defending religious discrimination. He criticized her for making such arguments and continued to push them without any foundation.
“These were fast moving cases and they weren’t going to full briefing. In full summary judgment with a record,” AliKhan defended.
Hawley retorted that the district court stated that AliKhan, and her client, engaged in and defended discrimination based on religious belief without offering any scientific evidence.
“You can choose what arguments to make. I’m disappointed you made those arguments. I’m disappointed you’ve persisted in defending them here today,” Hawley said, concluding that he would not support her nomination.

Hamas-affiliated lists won most of the seats in the elections for the student councils at the two most important Palestinian universities in the West Bank: An-Najah University and Birzeit University. Students affiliated with Hamas boasted that their group continues to carry out terrorist attacks to kill Jews and ridiculed their rivals in Fatah for being too soft on Israel.

A reporter for the New York Post asked Joe Biden about the FBI document revealing he sold out the country.
GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Thursday emerged from the SCIF after a briefing and revealed explosive information about the Biden bribery document.
The Ukraine-Biden-bribery evidence was first presented to the FBI by a trusted, highly credible, well paid informant back in 2017.
Meanwhile Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden enjoyed a highly lucrative position as a board member of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian natural gas company.
MTG appeared to suggest the bribery allegations involved Mykola Zlochevsky, the Ukrainian oligarch who hired Hunter Biden to serve on the board of Burisma Holdings.
According to Marjorie Taylor Greene, the informant said the Burisma owner claimed to have two pieces of evidence showing proof of payment to Hunter and specifically Joe Biden.

‘If the American people want to know what their first family is like, they’re going to get it. And we’re not going to be taking out photos that paint the Bidens in a good light,’ Ziegler said.
But he added that it took around two months to ‘redact the genitalia’ in all the pictures.
Ziegler said that the trove his organization uploaded last week contains ‘98% of the photos on the device’, after removing some images such as ‘screenshots of Candy Crush games’.
The ex-Trump staffer’s provocative publications have also included a 645-page report on Marco Polo’s investigation into the contents of Hunter’s laptop, published last fall.
The incendiary report accused Hunter of 459 crimes including prostitution offenses, distribution and possession of drugs, defrauding government agencies, illegal foreign lobbying and money laundering.
It also used emails and other documents from the laptop to claim that President Joe Biden was complicit in tax evasion, violated the Presidential Records Act, and used nonpublic information for financial gain in six incidents from June 2010 to December 2016.
Ziegler has also published more than 120,000 emails from the laptop on his website, BidenLaptopEmails.com, as well as transcribing and publishing pages from Hunter’s sister Ashley Biden’s diary.

Morris sued Ziegler and his charity in a Los Angeles court in April for alleged harassment, invasion of privacy and ‘criminal impersonation’.
The complaint calls the 27-year-old, ‘a right-wing extremist and provocateur who has made a reputation harassing people connected to President Joe Biden or his son, Hunter Biden.’
Morris accuses Ziegler of posting his personal data including property addresses and phone numbers on social media, orchestrating a ‘harassment campaign’, and ‘posting picture[s] of Morris’ family members on [Marco Polo’s] social media channels while making derogatory comments about them.’
He claims ‘several of the right-wing extremists who follow Ziegler on social media and the Website made veiled threats of violence against Morris, called Morris, and even drove by Morris’ property.’
In a statement, Ziegler told DailyMail.com the lawsuit was ‘utterly ridiculous’ and ‘false’.
To the fury of Hunter’s legal team, Ziegler has also been hired as an expert on Hunter’s laptop by a lawyer for Lunden Roberts, the mother of Hunter’s child, in her courtroom wrangle over how much child support he should pay for their four-year-old daughter, Navy Joan Roberts.
Roberts’s Arkansas attorney, Clint Lancaster, hired Ziegler to help unpick Hunter’s finances and help her argue for more money from the First Son – who at first denied Navy was his, until a paternity test proved it.
Hunter’s lawyer in the child support case, Brent Langdon, argued that Ziegler had ‘no work experience as an accountant or finance expert of any kind’ and posed a ‘security and confidentiality risk’ if given Hunter’s confidential financial documents and tax filings.

Hunter’s legal team have also demanded that Congress launch an investigation into how Marco Polo obtained Treasury Department Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), part of the evidence Republican lawmakers are using for their probes into alleged corruption in the Biden family.
The First Son’s hotshot lawyer Abbe Lowell wrote to the House Ethics Committee and Treasury Department’s Office of Inspector General in April asking for the former White House staffer to be investigated for allegedly breaking banking laws by publishing the confidential reports.
‘Ziegler has used Mr. Biden’s SARs and other financial records to craft a false narrative that Mr. Biden is associated with a human trafficking ring,’ the letter said.
‘In his persistent and continued broadcast of this fictitious tale, Ziegler has called upon House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer to disseminate Mr. Biden’s private information to an even wider audience.’

States have introduced nearly 200 bills this year to ‘subvert’ elections, report finds
The analysis by three nonpartisan groups suggests the election denial movement is alive and well in statehouses across the country.
Legislators in 38 states have introduced nearly 200 bills this year that would allow state governments to “subvert” elections, according to a report by three nonpartisan groups tracking such bills.
The analysis by the States United Democracy Center, Protect Democracy and Law Forward found that legislators — predominantly Republicans — put forward 185 bills in their state legislative sessions from Jan. 1 through May 3 that would increase the risk of subversion by politicizing, criminalizing or interfering with elections.
That number is on pace with those from sessions in the past two years, which the groups also tracked. Fifteen of the bills introduced this year have so far been enacted.
NBC News obtained the report ahead of its public release Thursday morning.
Its findings suggest that the election denial movement is alive and well in statehouses across the U.S. — even though an overwhelming number of election deniers (candidates who have echoed former President Donald Trump’s continuing false claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him) lost their races in pivotal battleground Senate and secretary of state elections in last year’s midterms — and that attempts to make it easier to overturn elections will persist if such legislation is left unchecked.
The analysis defined election subversion as the result of any bill that proposed one of five actions: usurping control over election results, requiring partisan or unprofessional election audits or reviews of results, seizing power over election responsibilities, creating unworkable burdens in election administration or imposing disproportionate criminal or other penalties.
“Legislators are trying to make it harder for trusted election officials to do their jobs, and easier for partisan politicians to overturn the will of the voters. While many may think this threat abated after the midterms, it most certainly did not,” Maya Ingram, a senior policy development counsel at the States United Democracy Center, said in a statement to NBC News. “In fact, legislators are coming up with new ways to interfere with elections.”
The authors of the analysis wrote that many of the bills are designed “to inject confusion and delays into the election process, which increases the likelihood of attempted subversion and can give rise to disinformation, further eroding public trust and confidence in election results.”
Such scenarios resulting from many of the proposed laws are most dangerous in close elections, the authors said, because “partisan actors” would be able to use them to exploit confusion over the results “to claim that the true will of the voters cannot be determined” and to “engineer the outcome of their choice.”
For example, Republican legislators in Texas proposed a bill — HB 5082 — that would give state officials the authority to order new elections in counties whose populations exceed 1 million people if there is “good cause” to conclude that 2% of polling places ran out of ballots and did not receive replacements. Such counties — like Harris County, which includes Houston — are home to a large share of the state’s Democratic voters.
Arizona Republicans introduced a bill — HB 2078 — that would, if it is enacted, allow candidates, political party county chairs and certain ballot measure state committees to request post-election investigations that, under the law, would result in audits by the secretary of state.

While such audits should, in theory, be straightforward affairs, critics of the Arizona bill, and bills like it, note that election deniers were on the ballot in secretary of state races last year in 12 states — including Mark Finchem in Arizona. While Finchem lost, the scenario prompted enormous concerns about how such an audit might be conducted with an election denier overseeing it.
Meanwhile, GOP-sponsored bills in Arizona, South Carolina and Virginia proposed banning the use of electronic voting tabulation machines and instituting head counts, instead — a practice that experts have repeatedly said takes far longer than machine tabulation and is far more prone to error.
Among the laws that have been enacted are SB 222 — passed and signed into law by Georgia Republicans — which made it a felony for local election workers or government officials to accept private funds, including grant money, to cover election costs. Republicans in Arkansas, Idaho and Montana enacted similar laws in their latest legislative sessions.
And in Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is running for the GOP nomination for president, signed a bill into law expanding the powers of the statewide prosecutor to go after election fraud, even though such crimes are extremely rare.
The Legislature also increased the budget for DeSantis’ election police, despite widespread criticism about their arrests of two dozen people on charges of being ineligible to vote when they cast ballots in the 2020 election — even though the DeSantis administration also told them they could legally vote.
Such laws are all but certain to affect voting behavior and how elections are administered in those states and in others where laws have been enacted.

Texas to Deploy Marine Barrier in the Rio Grande to Block New Surge of Immigrants
AUSTIN, Texas – In the latest in his series of state-level immigration-control initiatives, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has okayed an unusual new tool: a floating marine barrier to be deployed in the Rio Grande, three sources with direct knowledge confirmed to the Center for Immigration Studies.

The first 1,000 feet of floating barrier, consisting of large rotating buoys strung tightly together on thick steel cable, will be rolled out on a highly trafficked stretch of the Rio Grande between Piedras Negras, Mexico, and Eagle Pass, Texas, where a rising torrent of immigrant family groups have been crossing to turn themselves in since the end of Title 42 pandemic instant expulsions May 12, the sources said. Immigrants would have difficulty crossing over the buoys because they would rotate backward toward immigrants attempting to climb over them.
Texas has already purchased lengths of barrier from Cochrane, a corporation that specializes in marine barriers most often for navies. Texas will deploy its first thousand feet in June or early July, two sources said.
If it proves effective, Texas will roll out more in immigration hot spots on the Rio Grande.
Such a move comes with some political risk as physical barriers to illegal immigration such as high walls reliably draw criticism and controversy from illegal immigration advocates – and hostile media attention if immigrants are injured attempting to defeat them.
State officials are aware that some immigrants will try to swim under the barrier.

The northeastern United States was engulfed yesterday with a massive blanket of smoke from wildfires burning in Quebec since Tuesday. New York City quickly all but disappeared behind the orangish haze. Yesterday, The Gateway Pundit shared a story containing a video of the George Washington Bridge that was tweeted by Marjorie Taylor Greene, as well as a time lapse of the smoke rolling into the Big Apple.
The fires reportedly originated in Quebec, Canada. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took to Twitter to thank Joe Biden for sending hundreds of US firefighters up to Canada to help with the blaze while also, of course, blaming climate change.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy made sure to declare his allegiance to the climate change zealots as well in his statement yesterday:
