  1. You Don’t Get to Say that S**t!” – Eric Swalwell Throws Fit After GOP Congressman Brings Up Swalwell’s “Checkered Past” with “Yum Yum” (VIDEO)
    By Cullen Linebarger Apr. 27, 2023 7:15 am239 Comments

The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement held a hearing on Wednesday focused on the child migrant crisis caused by Joe Biden’s lawless immigration policies.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA/China) threw a fit after Congressman Troy Nehls (R-TX) reminded him of his Chinese spy past.

As the Gateway Pundit previously reported, Swalwell started a sexual relationship with Chinese spy and honeypot Fang Fang in 2012. Fang Fang was a “bundler” for Swalwell and other Democrat candidates.

Before his confrontation with Nehls, Swalwell was bullying border advocate Sheena Rodriguez. The New York Post reported Rodriguez was at the hearing to testify regarding migrant children being exploited and forced into the labor market. Rodriguez claimed to have witnessed such abuse during more than three dozen visits to the US-Mexico border.

  2. Did Obama’s Netflix Buddies Fund Zelensky’s Presidential Bid with $11 Million?
    By Richard Abelson Apr. 27, 2023 8:15 am0 Comments

In 2016, Netflix bought the rights to the Ukrainian TV series “Servant of the People” (Sluha Naroda) starring comedian Volodomyr Zelensky for 2017 to 2021 from Zelensky’s studio “Kvartal 95” for $11 million. US-based Netflix does not usually buy a lot of Ukrainian TV shows. The Netflix rights lapsed in 2021, but were renewed in March 2022, shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine 2022.

In 2018, Netflix signed a deal with Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground Productions, despite their lack of experience as film producers. It is unclear how much Netflix paid the Obamas, as Variety reported. In March 2018, Penguin Random House signed the couple to a joint book deal that paid them a reported $65 million for their memoirs. In 2022, Obama won an Emmy for “Best Narrator” for his Netflix documentary series, Our Great National Parks.

  3. Ex-US Army Psyops Expert: Fox News Fired Carlson To Maintain “Semi Lobotomized Quasi Retarded Population”

Authored by Paul Joseph Watson via Summit News,

A former US Army psychological warfare officer says that Tucker Carlson was fired by Fox News because of the regime’s agenda to maintain an “uninformed semi lobotomized quasi retarded population.”

The remarks were made by US counter-terror expert Scott Bennett.

Carlson and Fox News “parted ways” on Monday with speculation still raging as to the specific reason why the network canned its highest rated and most popular host.

According to Bennett, Carlson posed too much of a threat to institutional power because he turned Americans into proper “researchers and thinkers”.

Carlson offered an “intellectualism, truthfulness, and an analytical depth that no other news personality has ever done in the history of the United States as far back as I can remember,” said Bennett.

Tucker needed to be “silenced” because he represented too big a threat to the “powers and principalities, institutions and agendas that seek an unenlightened uninformed semi lobotomized quasi retarded population that do not question, do not research, do not analyze but simply digest and follow instructions,” according to Bennett.

“Tucker Carlson also exposed the fraud and money laundering racketeering crimes of FTX and the Democrat Party in Ukraine involving the United States government. He exposed the US biochemical labs in Ukraine and their connection to the Democrat Party, President Barack Obama, Vice President Biden, Hillary Clinton, George Soros, Bill Gates, and other US government agencies and pharmaceutical companies,” Bennett told Sputnik.

The ex-host’s anti-regime rhetoric “could no longer be tolerated by the corrupt American media and political establishment,” said Bennett, adding that his exit signals “the death of American media”.

The former US army psyops officer suggested that Senator Chuck Schumer had threatened to utilize the CIA and the FBI to deploy secret government operations against Tucker to get him off air unless he was fired.

Schumer previously called for Carlson to be taken off air after he broadcast footage showing the January 6 ‘riot’ leaders were actually allowed into the Capitol and chaperoned around by authorities.

As we highlighted earlier, one of the reasons behind Tucker’s dismissal is a lawsuit fired by former show producer Abby Grossberg, who claims she was bullied and subjected to sexist and anti-semitic harassment.

However, Grossberg’s own lawyer revealed that she has never even met Carlson.

    • No, conservatives didn’t require Tucker as a guru. That allegation is enemy condescension in a nutshell.

He put into words what was already disturbing us. He provided evidence that validated our case: listening with respect to victims of the demonrat jihad. Many of us wouldn’t have that reality check without his fine work.

No one else validated our point of view.

Tucker Reappears In 8PM Time Slot, But Not With Fox — Which Just Suffered “Catastrophic” Ratings Crash

    THURSDAY, APR 27, 2023 – 05:44 AM
After Tucker Carlson’s surprise split from Fox News, the #1 rated cable news host in history re-emerged from his home office on Wednesday to offer a stunning 8PM monologue covering his thoughts on the media landscape, and his future.

According to Carlson, one of the things one notices when one takes a little ‘time off’ is “how unbelievably stupid most of the debates you see on television are. They’re completely irrelevant. They mean nothing.

“In five years we won’t even remember that we had them… and yet, at the same time, the undeniably big topics – the ones that will define our future – get virtually no discussion at all. War, civil liberties, emerging science, demographic change, corporate power, natural resources. When was the last time you heard a legitimate debate about any of those issues?”

Debates like that are not permitted in American media,” Carlson continued, adding “Both political parties, and their donors, have reached consensus on what benefits them – and they actively collude to shut down any conversation about it.

“Suddenly the United States looks like a one-party state,” Carlson said.

  5. Wyoming, Other Western States, Obliterate Snowpack Records
The amount of snow that stayed on the ground in Wyoming this year is unprecedented, according to satellite imagery that tracks snowpack. Cowboy State Daily meteorologist Don Day says all that snow will begin to melt very soon.

It was a historic winter in Wyoming, by all accounts.

From a record cold stretch in Riverton to record high April temperatures in Cheyenne, the Cowboy State has seen its share of extremes this year.

But it’s the copious amounts of snow that’s buried much of Wyoming that has people considering this past winter one to remember.

And more records are just waiting to be broken, said Cowboy State Daily meteorologist Don Day.

“As of March 31, it’s the most amount of snow cover in the United States since they’ve been tracking snow cover with satellites starting in 2001,” Day said.

He explained that until now, in 23 years of record keeping, the most land in the U.S. ever covered by snowpack on the last day of March was in 2019, when it was determined that more than 398,000 square miles of land in the Western states were covered by either ice or snow.

But this year, satellite imagery shows more than 444,000 square miles of snow and ice cover in the same region.

“The snow-covered area for the Western states was 184% of average for March, the highes

    • zero hedge – UK Confirms Depleted Uranium Munitions Being Used Against Russians In Ukraine

The British military has confirmed that thousands of depleted uranium rounds are now in Ukraine, despite prior vehement Russian warnings not to follow through with the transfer.

“We have sent thousands of rounds of Challenger 2 ammunition to Ukraine, including depleted uranium armour-piercing rounds,” British Armed Forces Minister James Heappey said while fielding a question from Scottish MP Kenny MacAskill.

Heappey confirmed that the controversial munitions “are now under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU)” and that the UK Defense Ministry “does not monitor the locations from where DU rounds are fired by the AFU in Ukraine.”

The defense chief was also grilled by MPs over whether the UK is tracking the rates of depleted uranium rounds are being used against Russian forces, to which he responded, “For operational security reasons, we will not comment on Ukrainian usage rates for the rounds provided.”

As for the United States, the Bradley Fighting Vehicles which have already been sent to Kiev are capable of being outfitted with depleted uranium munitions, but the White House hasn’t revealed whether or not they are equipped with them.

When it was first revealed in March that Britain would send the armor-piercing tank rounds for Challenger II tanks to Ukraine, the reports triggered a fierce reaction from the Kremlin, with a strong-worded statement emphasizing that such a weapon will be treated as tantamount to using a nuclear dirty bomb.

“Yugoslav scenario. These shells not only kill, but infect the environment and cause oncology in people living on these lands,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at the time, in reference to cancer and other deadly ailments. “By the way, it is naive to believe that only those against whom all this will be used will become victims. In Yugoslavia, NATO soldiers, in particular the Italians, were the first to suffer. Then they tried for a long time to get compensation from NATO for lost health. But their claims were denied,” she said. Zakharova then added, “When will they wake up in Ukraine?… Their benefactors poison them.”

During the US occupation of Iraq, use of depleted uranium by NATO allies was linked to cancer and birth defects among the Iraqi population.

Putin as a result of the UK move said that Russia announced he would deploy tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus.

Warships of the Russian Navy last night delivered a concentrated strike with long-range precision weapons on the reserves of Ukrainian troops, the Ministry of Defense reported on its Telegram channel.

One of the main goals of the Russian missile attack was the accumulation of manpower and equipment of Ukrainian troops in the Mykolaiv region, where one of the airfields of the Zelensky regime was almost completely destroyed.

Mykolaiv is a critical port on the Black Sea. Kiev needs it to export agricultural products even if the grain deal resumes to free up Odessa. Big loss of fresh troops.

Once again, EU ambassadors failed to agree on joint munitions purchases for Ukraine, and it’s unclear if a compromise can be reached on Friday…

“The supply of ammunition from the EU to Ukraine is becoming more and more embarrassing,” said one Western diplomat.

The EU promised Ukraine 1 million ammunition by the end of the year both from the warehouses of the EU countries and as part of joint purchases. Deliveries from our own warehouses are slowing down significantly. To date, EU countries have shipped less than 40,000 munitions.

The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, published a letter in which he called on the defense ministers of 27 countries to pay attention to this problem. The idea is that they should review their holdings because it’s hard to believe they have nothing left, a source told RMF FM.

Tension and irritation are also growing among EU member states due to the behavior of France, which is blocking joint purchases of ammunition…. France wants all supply chains for ammunition and arms companies to be European.

“You can’t define the European arms industry that way,” explains one EU diplomat, “because we will never supply Ukraine with ammunition.”

“Even if the production is in an EU country, and the gunpowder for ammunition comes from South Korea, France does not want to agree,” an annoyed Western diplomat said.

Italy put forward a compromise proposal that made France even tougher. Sweden, which holds the EU Presidency, announces that it will not put the matter to a vote by EU ambassadors on Friday unless it is sure that all 27 countries agree.

    • APRIL 24 2023 – NEWSWEEK – How Ukraine Can Retake Crimea, Per Ex-U.S. General Ben Hodges

It began with Crimea, it will end with Crimea,” declared Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in 2022 when discussing his country’s ongoing resistance to Russia’s latest war of conquest.

Reclaiming the peninsula—occupied by Moscow’s forces assisted by local collaborators since 2014—is perhaps Kyiv’s most ambitious war goal. Jutting out into the Black Sea and bordering one side of the Sea of Azov, Crimea is a vital piece of the regional strategic puzzle and key in safeguarding its lucrative commercial shipping routes.

But Ukraine will have to fight hard for such a prize. Russian forces are reportedly preparing the peninsula and its approaches from southern Ukraine for a counteroffensive. Crimea’s unique geographical challenges pose many dangers for attackers, and its political importance to President Vladimir Putin means Russian troops there—and sympathetic locals—can be expected to put up a resolute defense.

In an interview with Newsweek, retired Lieutenant General Ben Hodges—who formerly served as the commanding general of the U.S. Army Europe—laid out three phases through which Kyiv’s troops may be able to seize Crimea, beginning with Ukraine’s long awaited spring counteroffensive.

“There’s a variety of ways that Ukrainians are thinking about this,” Hodges explained. “Obviously, they know the geography, they know the history, the weather, they know what the Russians have there. I imagine they have a near perfect intelligence about what’s happening inside Crimea. And I certainly hope that we’re helping—the U.S. and the UK.”

      A Valuable Prize

Ukraine has been ravaged by 14 months of war. Its economy shrunk by one third last year, and Russia’s invasion has eaten away at the workforce while choking the vital agricultural and industrial seaborne exports that have traditionally been central to its prosperity.

Kyiv will not be able to ensure security of commercial shipping in the Black Sea unless it liberates the peninsula, Hodges said.

“If the Russians continue to control Crimea, either because they defeated Ukrainians or because of some peace settlement, Ukraine will never be able to rebuild its economy because Crimea blocks access in and out of the Sea of Azov,” he said.

Even the large ports of Odesa and Mykolaiv—both of which are firmly under Ukrainian control—will still be threatened by Crimea, Hodges said.

“If you can step back and don’t focus on Crimea, but look at the Black Sea, it’s painfully obvious how Russia would be able to block, whenever it wanted to, ships coming in and out of any Ukrainian port of any type,” he said.

“That’s an important part of this, not just because we want Ukraine to have an economy but also for the European Union and for Europe,” Hodges said. “If Ukraine is not able to rebuild its economy, then you’ve got millions of Ukrainian refugees that are still staying all over Europe…This is a real problem for all of Europe if Ukraine cannot rebuild its economy.”

Russian-held Crimea, Hodges said, is “a dagger pointed at the belly of Ukraine.”

      Isolate

What can Kyiv do to ameliorate the Russian threat from Crimea?

“First you isolate the peninsula,” Hodges said. “When you look at the map, it starts to look more and more like a trap, or maybe a cul-de-sac for the Russians. And you can isolate it by first cutting the land bridge.”

The land bridge—running from the southwestern Russian border west of Rostov-on-Don, through occupied Donetsk, Mariupol, Berdyansk, Melitopol and to the Dnieper River—is Moscow’s biggest achievement from more than a year at war.

The corridor allows Russia to better supply the Crimean Peninsula, which until February 2022 was reliant on the Kerch Strait Bridge augmented by shipping.

A Ukrainian drive south from Zaporizhzhia and east from Kherson would endanger this vital corridor.

“I don’t know this, but I think that’s one of the main objectives of this Ukrainian offensive that’s coming up,” Hodges said. “Break that land bridge, and once you’ve done that then phase two begins.”

      Bombard

If Ukrainian forces can reach Crimea’s doorstep, much of the peninsula’s most sensitive military and infrastructure targets will be in range.

Ukrainian troops have proved adept at using long-range Western munitions—as well as indigenous technology—to target Russian command posts, troop concentrations, and supply hubs. Crimea offers a wealth of targets, including the Sevastopol naval base and the Saky air base, both of which have already been attacked.

“You start hitting targets to make the peninsula untenable for Russian forces,” Hodges said of a second phase of attack. “You hit Sevastopol and the Black Sea Fleet has to leave, they can’t sit there while precision weapons are raining down on ships, or harbor facilities, fuel, ammo, etc. Same thing with the airbase in Saky.”

General Christopher Cavoli—the current commander of U.S. forces in Europe—has said that “precision can beat mass” if given sufficient time.

Hodges said this approach might be suitable in Crimea, where Moscow has deployed significant strength in fear of Ukrainian operations.

“With an army that depends on mass infantry, it has to have headquarters and artillery,” he said. “And so, with precision, you start knocking out headquarters, you start knocking out artillery ammunition storage, and you knock out transportation hubs.”

“I think that’s what phase two would be, going after those kinds of targets to make it untenable for Russia to stay and fight effectively in Crimea.”

More Western weapons can give Ukraine the edge it needs to do this, Hodges said. Kyiv already has U.S.-made High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems armed with Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems munitions, which have a 56-mile range. But despite repeated requests from Ukraine, Washington has refused to provide the longest-range HIMARS munitions; the MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile System that has a range of 190 miles.

“If the Ukrainians had the ATACMS, for example, the Black Sea Fleet would have already had to leave Sevastopol, they would have been hitting that place already,” Hodges said. “Same thing with their airbase at Saky and a couple of these other targets.”

ATACMS, Gray Eagle drones, and other long-range systems “would make such a big difference,” Hodges said.

“I think this goes back to how the administration, the German, British and French governments have not fully committed to Ukraine winning,” he added. “They are they are concerned, I think unnecessarily, that somehow this could lead to nuclear escalation. Or maybe it could lead to the collapse of the Russian Federation and the Chinese don’t want that. Or maybe the Europeans don’t. But the bottom line is, they are not willing to say we want Ukraine to win.”

      Liberate

Fighting in the peninsula—in places swampy and in others mountainous—would be difficult. Ukrainian troops would also have to contend with hundreds of thousands of Russian-born residents, or at least those who have not already fled.

In 2014, the Ukrainian-born population in Crimea was more pro-Russian than the rest of the country, as evidenced by election and referenda results. When Russian troops seized the peninsula, thousands of Ukrainian soldiers and officials are believed to have defected.

With almost a decade of integration with Russia and ceaseless ideological conditioning, advancing Ukrainian troops may have to handle hostile locals.

“You do have to go in there and clear it and occupy it,” Hodges said. “How that happens, I’m not exactly sure yet. It will not be an easy task, that’s for sure. But I think the Ukrainians will have thought through how they do that.”

Kyiv will have to make a decision about what to do with the Kerch Strait Bridge, which was targeted by the Ukrainians last year.

“They will not drop that bridge,” Hodges suggested. “I think they’ll leave it up so that people can leave, so they literally have a bridge to get out of there if they see what’s happening, and they don’t want to remain under Ukrainian control.”

“I think that at some point the Ukrainians will drop it, but I think in the near term, I think they’ll probably leave it up, unless the Russians are using it in a meaningful way after the land bridge has been cut. If they’re pouring in a lot more capabilities over the Kerch Bridge, then they may decide to drop it.”

Hodges suggested that the loss of Crimea might hasten the end of the wider war, which has been raging at varying intensities for more than nine years.

“I think once Crimea has been liberated, there will be a lot less enthusiasm in the Kremlin for hanging on to these really poor destroyed parts of eastern Ukraine,” he said. “What really matters to them about the Donbas was having the land bridge to Crimea.”

“I don’t think they honestly care a whole lot about these little villages out in Donetsk and Luhansk, even though they’ve lost thousands of soldiers there.”

Newsweek has contacted the Russian Ministry of Defense by email to request comment.

      =================================

MILWAUKEE INDEPENDENT – UKRAINIAN FORCES CONSIDER HOW TO “DE-OCCUPY” CRIMEA AS RUSSIA PREPARES FOR A LIKELY SPRING OFFENSIVE

Now, as Ukrainian forces consider how to “de-occupy” Crimea, the Russian high command needs to think about how to prevent the recapture of the one territory that they cannot afford to lose.

Ukraine watchers are reporting that Russia is digging in along the northern edge of Crimea, actively recruiting laborers to help fortify the area around the Isthmus of Perekop, the narrow strip of land connecting Crimea to the rest of Ukraine.

Russia has been continuously reinforcing the area since its initial occupation back in 2014, more recently redoubling defences each time Ukrainian forces move closer. As a result, both the narrow land bridge and the adjoining coastline of the Syvash Bay are now hardened against attack. Taken together with rumours of forcible evacuation of any remaining civilians, it is fair to say Russia is gearing up for something to happen in the area.

      Why Crimea matters

Zelensky has always maintained that the war in Ukraine must end with the liberation of Crimea. In his nightly address, in August 2022, he said:

Russia has turned our peninsula, which has always been and will be one of the best places in Europe, into one of the most dangerous places in Europe. Russia brought large-scale repression, environmental problems, economic hopelessness and war to Crimea.

Correspondingly, this has drawn harsh rhetoric from Moscow, most recently from former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev who warned that Moscow would use “absolutely any weapon” if Ukraine attempted to retake the peninsula – which many take to mean nuclear weapons.

Crimea is incredibly significant at the strategic level. It is a base for Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, and provides critical access to trade through ports such as Sevastopol. But in terms of the narrative of the conflict, Putin and his allies have woven Crimea into the Russian national myth, framing it as a vital part of the nation. Losing the region would be humiliating and costly for the regime.

For years, the idea of Ukraine reclaiming Crimea has appeared more than remote. But Kyiv’s military successes at the back end of 2022 have since changed this perception, and the recapture of Kherson back in September has put Ukraine within striking distance.

So far the threat of a nuclear response has appeared to be a bluff, with Russia failing to follow through, despite a series of attacks by Ukraine on Russian military installations there. And Kyiv’s narrative of needing to liberate all territory occupied by Russia since 2014 is gaining international support .

A spring offensive to the south has been all but confirmed, with a stated objective of cutting off Crimea from Russian support.

But the battle for Crimea itself is still a way off. Significant groundwork needs to be in place before any direct offensive can take place. Nevertheless, an operation that once seemed impossible is now being seriously considered by both sides.

      The fight for Crimea

Should it come to a military operation, Crimea is not going to be an easy fight. Options such as an amphibious or airborne assault are too risky, given that Russia still has serviceable naval and air defence assets. A direct approach would see a massive Ukrainian offensive down the Isthmus of Perekop. This could result in Ukrainian forces being funnelled into the area Russia is currently reinforcing, which is far from ideal.

If there is a place to stop a Ukrainian land force, this would be where it happens. The isthmus is an ideal choke point, with little room to maneuver. This latest round of defensive construction is turning the area into a formidable position – the narrow space is ideal for Russian massed artillery.

An attacking land force would be at a major disadvantage, even if they possessed naval and air superiority, which unfortunately for Ukraine, cannot be assumed. With the isthmus effectively defended, Crimea becomes an island. This type of challenge will require different skills and equipment to address, being unlike any of the operations it has conducted so far.

It is no coincidence that its name – Perekop – roughly translates to trench. The isthmus has been fortified by many great powers down the centuries and history tells us it will be hard to retake with a direct assault.

By the time Ukraine launches its counter-offensive in the south, the reality on the ground should look different. Russia’s winter-spring offensives in the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts have faltered and the invasion force has taken significant losses in months of heavy fighting in Bakhmut. Russian military morale is reported to be close to breaking point with reports of friction between regular army and Wagner Group mercenaries.

The first aim of any Ukrainian southern offensive would be to isolate the peninsula from resupply completely. Despite repairs to the Kerch bridge, the one road link between Crimea and Russia, it has been shown be vulnerable and closing it again would mean Russia needing to resupply by sea or air, which is unsustainable for any length of time. If the peninsula can be cut off, the Russian presence in Crimea becomes unsustainable.

The fortifications reportedly being prepared in advance of a possible Ukrainian assault show that Moscow, at least, is taking this prospect seriously. But a great deal will depend on Kyiv receiving superior weaponry in sufficient quantities to launch an attack. One thing seems certain though – the outcome of the battle for Crimea will be a decisive moment in the course of this conflict.

    • reuters – Russia digs in as Ukraine prepares to attack

April 27 (Reuters) – The anti-tank ditches near Ukraine’s occupied southeastern town of Polohy stretch for 30 km (19 miles). Behind are rows of concrete “dragon’s teeth” barricades. Further back are defensive trenches where Russia’s troops will be positioned.

The defences visible in satellite imagery taken by Capella Space are part of a vast network of Russian fortifications sweeping down from western Russia through eastern Ukraine and on to Crimea built in readiness for a major Ukrainian attack.

Thousands of Ukrainian troops have been training in the West to use different military assets on the battlefield in a combined way ahead of a counteroffensive Ukrainian officials say will come when its forces are ready.

Reuters has reviewed satellite images of thousands of defensive positions inside both Russia and along Ukrainian front lines that show it is most heavily defended in the southern Zaporizhzhia region and the gateway to the Crimean Peninsula.

Six military experts said the defences, mostly built in the wake of Ukraine’s rapid autumn advances, could make it harder for Ukraine this time and that progress would hinge on its ability to carry out complex, combined operations effectively.

“It’s not the numbers for the Ukrainians. It’s can they do this kind of warfare, combined arms operations?” said Neil Melvin, an analyst at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI). “The Russians have shown they can’t do it and they’ve gone back to their old Soviet method of attrition.”

A Ukrainian counteroffensive could change the dynamics of a war that has slowed into a bloody battle of attrition and military experts say the length of the front could stretch Russia’s defences.

If Kyiv can wrest back control of the south, it could regain unimpeded access to its Black Sea export routes at a time when Russia has signalled it may slam the grain corridor shut.

Ukraine may not receive another large injection of armoured hardware from the West any time soon, which is putting pressure on Kyiv to retake as much land as possible in case military support begins to wane, military experts say.

“We’ve cleaned out most of the stocks in the West,” said Melvin. “It’s going to take some years to rebuild. I think this is (Ukraine’s) big opportunity to press on.”

Ukraine’s Defence Ministry did not respond to a written response for comment about any counteroffensive.

      LAND CORRIDOR

Ukraine has vowed to take back all the territory occupied by Russia, an area roughly the size of Bulgaria, but officials are reluctant to disclose any information that could help Moscow.

The West has sent scores of modern battle tanks and infantry fighting vehicles to serve as the vanguard of an assault, along with bridging equipment and mine clearance vehicles.

That’s why Russia has been digging extensive, layered fortifications to ensure its troops will be far more entrenched than when they were chased out of Ukraine’s northeast and Kherson city, the satellite images show.

The pictures analysed by Reuters show much of the Russian construction occurred after November, when its forces pulled back from Kherson city in the south and both sides looked to consolidate positions during the winter months.

Stretching hundreds of kilometres, the military experts say the defences mark areas where Russia expects to be attacked, or sees strategic significance in holding onto territory.

Russia’s defence ministry did not respond to questions about the defences and its ability to repel a counteroffensive.

According to the satellite images, Russia’s positions are most concentrated near the front lines in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, in the east and across the narrow strip of land connecting the Crimean Peninsula to the rest of Ukraine.

The military experts all expected the main thrust of a counteroffensive to be in the south, even though the heaviest fighting in recent months has been concentrated in the east, and in particular around the city of Bakhmut.

Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a rare trip to the Kherson region in what some observers saw as a signal of its strategic importance.

Oleksandr Musiyenko, a military analyst in Kyiv, said the south was strategically vital for Ukraine.

Besides disrupting the land corridor from Russia to occupied Crimea, making deep inroads into the south could bring the peninsula into artillery range, he said.

The diamond-shaped peninsula seized from Ukraine in 2014 is home to the Black Sea Fleet which Russia uses to project power into the Middle East and Mediterranean and – over the last 14 months – rain down cruise missiles on Ukraine.

The south is also home to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, Europe’s largest, which has been occupied since March last year and idle since September. It used to supply a fifth of Ukraine’s electricity needs.

      HUGE DIGGING EFFORT

The town of Polohy pictured in Capella Space’s satellite images, lies in the Zaporizhzhia region, a key gateway for Ukraine to bear down on the largely flat south.

The rest of the south lies beyond the Dnipro River, a huge natural barrier for Ukrainian forces to overcome.

“I traced ditches and trenches running from the eastern bank of the Dnipro south of Vasylivka all the way to Fedorivka, which is to say they run across Zaporizhzhia (Region),” said John Ford, research associate at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.

He estimated that defensive section alone stretched for 120 km.

The anti-tank ditches are deep and wide enough to obstruct advancing tanks and armoured vehicles. Then come concrete “dragon’s teeth” that serve as pyramid-shaped barricades. The manned trenches lie about a kilometre behind the ditches.

Besides the ditches, barricades and zig-zag trenches, Russia’s defensive lines will also include minefields, razor wire and camouflaged weapons positions.

And in the case of Polohy, Russia has constructed two distinct defensive lines, one to the north and one to the south.

Overheads of the Zaporizhzhia area seen by Reuters show some towns, such as Tokmak and Bilmak, have been encircled by fortifications. Trenches have been dug along roads, outside other settlements and at the city airports of Melitopol and Berdiansk. The north of Crimea has also been fortified.

Brady Africk, an open-source intelligence researcher and analyst at the American Enterprise Institute, said he had mapped fortifications from western Russia to Crimea, with construction starting in earnest after Russian troops abandoned Kherson city.

“That spurred a huge digging effort, especially across southern Ukraine, where the ground is quite flat,” he said.

      BATTLEFIELD OBSTACLES

Despite the web of defences, four experts said Russia would be stretched by the length of the front, a vulnerability Kyiv would seek to exploit with feints, distractions, surprise and operational speed.

Musiyenko said Ukraine could use Western-supplied vessels to launch assaults on the Kherson region from across the Dnipro that would serve as decoys – or full-fledged attacks. That could force Russia to divert troops from elsewhere.

“Battlefield obstacles are only obstacles so long as they are guarded by capable troops,” said Middlebury’s Ford.

Musiyenko estimated that Ukraine would have a force of between 100,000-110,000 for an attack, including eight assault brigades with a total of 40,000 troops.

Russia has not said how many troops it has in Ukraine, or within its borders ready to deploy.

Ukrainian and Russian officials have reported on Telegram messenger a series of explosions over the last month in Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia region’s main occupied city.

Musiyenko said Ukraine was targeting logistics nodes as it did before recapturing Kherson city.

Wrecking Russian supply lines would render its trenches weak, he said: “Fortified positions are effective if you have ammunition, rounds, weapons that you can defend with.”

A leaked U.S. intelligence document dated Feb. 28 seen by Reuters said the West had committed 200 tanks to Ukraine. Army chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyi said in December he needed 300 to defeat Russia, along with other vehicles and artillery.

Those same documents also said Ukraine faced acute shortages of air defences, which could become a problem if Kyiv’s forces advance rapidly and need protection from aerial bombardments.

  14. The latest Twitter file (#21) provides more evidence that the narrative that Russian accounts were materially impacting US elections was a lie. This is exactly what TGP said years ago.

Before the 2016 Election, the Hillary and Obama gang was scared that President Trump might win and then look into their crimes so they created the lie that candidate Trump was tied to Russians.

The fact was that the Obama Administration, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, had allowed the sale of a significant amount of US uranium to the Russians for millions. In return the Clintons received millions and we don’t know how much the rest of the Obama Administration received. This action is referred to as Uranium One.

The Obama Administration participated in a crime spree. It set up the Trump Administration, gave billions to Iran, opened the border, created sanctuary cities, backed corrupt Soros activities, and now we know participated in human trafficking of minors.

  15. About to Reveal “Explosive” Information On the Biden Crime Family’s Corruption Has Disappeared
    By Cullen Linebarger Apr. 27, 2023 2:15 pm177 Comments

The Gateway Pundit reported back in February that Dr. Gal Luft, the co-director of the Washington-based Institute for the Analysis of Global Security, reportedly was going reveal explosive information on the Biden Crime Family. Now he has gone missing under mysterious circumstances.

Luft was an adviser to CEFC China Energy (CEFC), a business conglomerate with extremely close ties to the Chinese Communist Party. He served alongside Hunter Biden.

CEFC Energy paid Hunter approximately $5 million in 2017 alone to secure energy deals in the United States according to the Washington Free Beacon.

Once Joe Biden assumed power, there was every reason to keep details on his and his family’s corruption hidden from the public. According to Luft, the Regime had him arrested on bogus weapon trafficking charges in January to try to silence him.

I’ve been arrested in Cyprus on a politically motivated extradition request by the US.

The US, claiming I’m an arms dealer. It would be funny if it weren’t tragic.

I’ve never been an arms dealer.

DOJ is trying to bury me to protect Joe, Jim & Hunter Biden.

    Shall I name names?

    Shall I name names?

    — Gal Luft (@GalLuft) February 19, 2023

While Luft’s claims might otherwise be easily dismissed as a bluff, his connection to CEFC China Energy suggests he likely knows something about the Bidens.

“Dr. Luft is a whistleblower,” Luft attorney Robert Henoch told the Washington Free Beacon. He asserts that prosecutors decided against pursuing Luft’s information “and are instead targeting him with trumped-up and false charges.”

“This unfortunately appears to be part of an attempt to discredit a witness with critical information about an ongoing congressional and DOJ investigation.”</blockquote

In fact, Luft’s lawyer had told Biden’s DOJ that his client would submit a letter to Congress containing information Luft previously gave to the FBI during the Trump Administration on the Bidens.

Moreover, The New York Post revealed that Luft learned about explosive information: someone was selling sealed U.S. law enforcement information to Chinese individuals.

The attorney claimed that Ye Jianming, founder and chairman of CEFC-USA, a nonprofit created by the China Energy Fund Committee, told Luft that Hunter Biden had an informant in the FBI. They paid lots of money to provide sealed law enforcement information.

This FBI mole was reportedly called “One-Eye.”

Luft appeared to be on the verge of blowing the lid off the investigation into the Biden Crime Family’s business deals. But something very convenient happened this month that redounded to the family’s benefit.

The Jewish Business News revealed that Luft posted bail for 400,000 euros ($438,000). Then Luft suddenly disappeared.

In March, a Cypriot court deliberating a US extradition request had instructed him to surrender his passport to authorities and post 400,000 euros as bail before being released from custody. He was also required to register at the Paphos police station weekly but failed for the past month and did not appear for three trial dates. Luft’s car was found abandoned on the island a day after his disappearance was reported.

  17. Capitol Police Chief Attacks Tucker Carlson – Says His Factual Coverage of Jan. 6 was “Very Disrespectful” (VIDEO)
    By Jim Hoft Apr. 27, 2023 4:50 pm402 Comments

In March Tucker Carlson aired several minutes of footage out of the 40,000 hours of total video taken by government cameras on January 6, 2021, in Washington DC. Tucker’s producers were given access to the footage by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

Tucker showed peaceful protesters walking through the halls of the US Capitol, police waving Trump supporters into the building, and police escorting the “Q-Shamen” Jacob Chansley through the halls that day. Chansley was later sentenced to four years in prison for walking inside the US Capitol with police escort.

On Monday, Tucker Carlson was let go by FOX News. US Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger later attacked Tucker Carlson during congressional testimony and continued to push the government lie about the protests that day.

When he did that program, I put out a message to all of my employees, and I talked to them about the narrative that he tried to put forth, how disrespectful it was to the men and women of the Capitol Police. And I think what was fortunate is that that narrative that Mr. Carlson tried to put out had no legs. I think most folks understood exactly what it was, and so I think that was very gratifying to the members of the Capitol Police to see that that.

Today 61% of Americans believe the Feds incited the US Capitol riot. This makes Mr. Manger very angry.

Conservatives Are Looking For Ways To Boycott and Move Spending Away From Woke Corporations — Here Is One Way To Do It

    The Epoch Times reported:

A Democrat senator from Maryland and U.S. Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger used a Senate budget hearing on April 25 to blast former Fox News host Tucker Carlson for creating an allegedly “false narrative” with the Jan. 6 security-camera video that he broadcast in March.

During a budget hearing before the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch, Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) asked Manger to comment on Carlson’s use of the Jan. 6 video in his March 6 broadcast about the events of Jan. 6, 2021.

“In I think February or early March of this year, Speaker [Kevin] McCarthy authorized the release of more than 40,000 hours of security footage from the awful events of January 6,” Van Hollen said.

“He released them to former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who then used them to create a false narrative surrounding the events of that day, concluding that the attack on the Capitol was quote, ‘mostly peaceful chaos,’ and that, ‘The footage does not show an insurrection or riot in progress.’”

Van Hollen noted that, as of April 24, Carlson’s program is no longer in the Fox News lineup. “But a lot of the damage has been done,” Van Hollen asserted. “Can you talk about the impact this false narrative has had on the men and women who work for you?”

Manger said he put out a statement the day after the March 6 “Tucker Carlson Tonight” broadcast, noting “how disrespectful it was to the men and women of the Capitol Police.”

“I think what was fortunate is that that narrative that Mr. Carlson tried to put out had no legs,” Manger said. “I think most folks understood exactly what it was. And so I think that was very gratifying to the members of the Capitol Police to see that that the public did not agree with that assessment.”

Van Hollen replied, “I appreciate that. And I agree with you that despite his best efforts, the American public understood exactly what happened on that day and that it was not the narrative that he put out.”

United Conservative Party leader Danielle Smith posed for photos with campaign supporters Wednesday night, including three people who were either fined or charged for their role in the so-called Freedom Convoy to Ottawa.

Political events attract people from all walks of life and politicians are not known to waste opportunities to try and secure votes, but an Alberta analyst said this is not the first time Smith has met with supporters who hold extreme views.

“Politicians take photos all the time. If this was a one-off or a two-off or a three-off, you know, no big deal,” said Mount Royal University political scientist Duane Bratt.

“But there seems to be a repeated pattern all related around COVID that Danielle Smith keeps sticking her foot into.”

Smith had posed with James Bauder, his wife, Sandra Collins Bauder, and Harold Jonker at a fundraising event for Eric Bouchard, the UCP candidate for Calgary-Lougheed — former premier Jason Kenney’s riding.

“James Bauder and Sandra Collins Bauder with Premier Danielle Smith and Ontario trucker Harold Jonker at a dinner and silent auction in Calgary. Doing our small part to make sure Alberta is a beacon of Freedom to the rest of Canada,” reads the caption on the Facebook page for Canada Unity, which Bauder co-founded.

The UCP told Global News in a statement that Smith didn’t know the trio.

“As usual, the premier took part in a routine photo line-up with nearly 200 people last night. The Premier does not personally know these individuals,” the party said.

James Bauder is a commercial truck driver from Calgary who helped organize the convoy. His wife, Sandra Collins Bauder, was also involved.

The report from the inquiry into the use of the Emergencies Act during the 2021 convoy named him as one of five figures who played important roles in mobilizing the demonstration, though they didn’t always act in unison.

The Bauders are both facing charges, including mischief to obstruct property, disobeying a lawful court order, and obstructing a peace officer.

Bauder’s Canada Unity group had prepared a “memorandum of understanding,” demanding that the senate and governor general force Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the provinces and territories to override government public health measures to slow the spread of COVID-19.

“I mean, that’s sedition. So once again, (Smith) is tying herself into the key individuals associated with COVID and fighting COVID restrictions,” Bratt said.

Bauder and his MOU largely faded into the protest’s background, getting upstaged by the trio of Tamara Lich, B.J. Dichter and Chris Barber as they became the faces of the convoy, holding media availabilities throughout the occupation in Ottawa.

During the inquiry, Bauder testified that mRNA vaccines alter people’s genes, that God told him to organize the convoy, that the 2020 United States presidential election was rigged, and that an international declaration on ethical principles for medical research involving human subjects authorized the Senate to override domestic law in certain circumstances.

“Once again, Danielle Smith is spending her time meeting with extremists facing serious criminal charges. This is not the behaviour of a premier,” said Irfan Sabir, Alberta NDP candidate for Calgary-Bhullar-McCall.

“Smith is showing Albertans once again that she is not focused on their needs. She is focused on the dangerous agenda of extremists like James Bauder and Artur Pawlowski, both of whom were criminally charged for their actions.”

Pawlowski is known in Alberta for his high-profile and disruptive demonstrations against the LGBTQ community and COVID-19 health rules.

His charges from the January 2022 blockade at the Coutts border crossing include mischief for inciting people to block public property and willfully damaging or destroying essential infrastructure.

“This is a pattern of behaviour for Smith to meet with people who undermined the rule of law, harmed our economy, and caused tremendous hardship for ordinary people,” Sabir said.

Harold Jonker, who owns and operates a trucking company, used to be a part-time councillor for West Lincoln, a township near Niagara Falls in Ontario, but lost his seat during a municipal election last October.

An integrity commissioner investigation before he lost his seat had found that he broke the municipal code of conduct for participating in the convoy.

Last summer, councillors voted to penalize Jonker by stripping him of 30 days’ pay, account for all donations he received during the protest, and repay that amount.

The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms later filed a lawsuit against the township n his behalf for reprimanding him.

Bratt said given Smith’s history, most Albertans should have a good sense of where she stands.

“There’s going to be one view that just says, ‘Here’s another example’ and another view that says, ‘You know, this is no big deal, (Rachel) Notley is worse.’ And then there’s going to be a subsection that’s going to be cheering her on. Going, ‘Yeah, keep doing this for us.’

Also in attendance at Wednesday night’s fundraiser was Theo Fleury, the former NHL player who in recent years on Twitter has become an outspoken anti-vaxxer and spreader of unfounded COVID-19 conspiracies.
