    • Novavax To Sell US Government 1.5 Million More Doses Of COVID-19 Vaccine

Novavax has secured a vaccine deal to provide the U.S. government with 1.5 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine, a latecomer to a market where the biggest buyers have stopped buying.

The Maryland-based biotech company reported on Monday that it has agreed with the U.S. government to modify an existing contract, but did not disclose how much it will be paid for the vaccine doses.

In addition, the amended deal will support development of smaller dose vials, strain selection in line with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommendations, and a “smooth transition to the commercial market,” according to the company.

The move also indicates that the Biden administration still seeks to diversify its COVID vaccine arsenal with non-mRNA shots. Novavax is a protein subunit vaccine, meaning that it directly injects a version of the spike protein of the virus that causes COVID infection into the body to stimulate production of antibodies.

By contrast, Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines work by introducing mRNA into the recipient’s muscle cells, which then produce copies of the spike protein to trigger an immune response.

“This agreement acknowledges the need to offer the American people a diverse COVID-19 vaccine portfolio and underscores the importance of Novavax’s partnership with the U.S. government to ensure continuous access to a protein-based option as part of public health measures,” said John Jacobs, Novavax president and chief executive.

    • People unvaccinated against COVID at higher risk of diabetes

Failing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine could put patients at higher risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, a new study suggests.

Researchers from the Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles discovered that the coronavirus infection increases the risk of diabetes — but that up-front vaccination could curb it.

Type 2 diabetes impairs how the body regulates blood sugar levels and uses sugar, per the Mayo Clinic. While there is no cure currently, symptoms are often treated with exercise, special diets and weight loss.

Researchers concluded that the risk of Type 2 diabetes after COVID-19 infection for unvaccinated patients was 2.7%, with 74% of cases developing post-infection and 30% occurring pre-infection.

The risk for those who were vaccinated dropped to 1%, with only 51% occurring post-infection and 49% prior to exposure.

The combined risk of Type 2 diabetes for both groups, researchers found, was 2.1% – 70% occurred post-infection and 30% occurring prior to exposure.

Researchers estimate that Type 2 diabetes affects 26 million Americans.

“As we learn how to live with COVID-19, we also have to be prepared to recognize and treat the various conditions linked to its aftereffects,” study author Dr. Alan Kwan said in a statement.

“Our ultimate goal — with every research study we conduct — is to find ways to keep people healthy and able to engage in their everyday activities and lives,” he added.

The study used medical records of over 23,000 patients who documented at least one COVID-19 infection and were treated at the hospital between 2020 and 2022 to determine the risk of diabetes due to infection.

According to researchers, the average patient was 47, with 54% of subjects being women.

“These results suggest that COVID-19 vaccination prior to infection may provide a protective effect against diabetes risk,” said Dr. Kawn, who is also a cardiovascular physician at the Smidt Heart Institute.

The study, published on Tuesday in the journal JAMA Network Open, is the latest in a slew of published reports that indicate COVID-19 infection could have more adverse health effects than just its two-week duration.

A study from the Washington University School of Medicine last year concluded that people infected multiple times with the virus are twice as likely to die and three times more likely to be hospitalized than patients who were only infected once.

The researchers also discovered that those with repeat infections were more at risk for lung problems, heart issues and brain conditions.

The Cedars-Sinai experts said their efforts confirm that vaccination could relieve some of the risks and adverse health consequences associated with COVID-19 infection.

“Although we don’t yet know for certain, the trends and patterns that we see in the data suggest that COVID-19 infection could be acting in certain settings like a disease accelerator, amplifying risk for a diagnosis that individuals might have otherwise received later in life,” study author Dr. Susan Cheng said in a statement.

“So, it could be that instead of being diagnosed with diabetes by age 65, a person with preexisting risk for diabetes might — after a COVID-19 infection — be more likely to develop diabetes by age 45 or 55,” added Dr. Cheng, who also serves the Erika J. Glazer chair in Women’s Cardiovascular Health and Population Science.

While Kawn noted that further research is necessary to confirm their team’s findings, they “remain steadfast in our belief that COVID-19 vaccination remains an important tool in protecting against COVID-19 and the still-uncertain risks that people may experience during the post-infection period.”

The study comes as the Food and Drug Administration proposed a yearly COVID-19 jab in January, mimicking the flu regimen already in place. Meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a report this year revealing that the updated coronavirus booster did not provide ample protection against emerging variants.

China goes down to the sea: Putting the “hybrid” in warfare (Bonus update: Biden’s excellent balloon* adventure)
    Interesting times

Foreword: In the interim before sending this to post, the Chinese surveillance balloon* swam into America’s ken. (Since then, more unidentified airborne objects have been shot down in the last 48-odd hours.) As an example of the intrusive level at which the Chinese Communist Party is prepared to admit itself to other nations, including the United States, the balloon could hardly have been more timely or useful. The separate phenomenon recounted in this article has been pooh-poohed by some Western observers as a stretch, too exotic, or – somehow –evidently” not close enough to implementation to worry about. But there’s really no closer it has to be. The capability exists; the opportunity is wide open right now. Of course China didn’t develop the capability merely for the CCP’s amusement, with no intention of using it. If Xi Jinping has major geopolitical moves in view, as he manifestly does, now is the time to make preparations for it. That’s what the surveillance balloon was about: not just a probe, but a measure to prepare a hybrid battlespace. We should be paying attention to everything. I’ll have a few comments on the balloon at the end.

    • Just compounds my distrust of a certain class of commentator who promote themselves as USA conservatives, but always take anti-American positions. More than a few of them are military veterans and ex-intelligence agents like Larry Johnson and Brian Berletic.

They’re closer to my position on the war in Ukraine, but they reveal their personal animus by the company they keep. That clique includes communist radicals like Moon of Alabama, Russian agents like Andrei Martyanov, and the duo who run The Duran.

Anti-Israel, pro-Assad, pro-Iran, they’re not dumb. Max Blumenthal, son of the notorious Sid, and Aaron Mate know how to stack the deck so we always look like the villians.

You can see where the ends of the ideological horseshoe converge in the comments to their articles. The article may be worthy, but pure poison oozes from their take on it. They’re reinforced and encouraged by praise from the authors.

  2. reuters – EU lawmakers approve effective 2035 ban on new fossil fuel cars

BRUSSELS, Feb 14 (Reuters) – The European Parliament on Tuesday formally approved a law to effectively ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in the European Union from 2035, aiming to speed up the switch to electric vehicles and combat climate change.

The landmark rules will require that by 2035 carmakers must achieve a 100% cut in CO2 emissions from new cars sold, which would make it impossible to sell new fossil fuel-powered vehicles in the 27-country bloc.

The law will also set a 55% cut in CO2 emissions for new cars sold from 2030 versus 2021 levels, much higher than the existing target of a 37.5%.

“The operating costs of an electric vehicle are already lower than the operating costs of a vehicle with an internal combustion engine,” Jan Huitema, the parliament’s lead negotiator on the rules, said, adding that it was crucial to bring more affordable electric vehicles to consumers.

EU countries agreed the deal with lawmakers last October, but still need to formally rubber stamp the rules before they can take effect. Final approval is expected in March.

New vans must comply with a 100% CO2 cut by 2035, and a 50% cut by 2030, compared with 2021 levels.

Many carmakers in Europe have announced investments in electrification.

Volkswagen chief executive Thomas Schaefer said last year that from 2033 the brand will only produce electric cars in Europe.

Still, the EU law met resistance from some industry and countries when it was proposed in July 2021. As a result, the final deal includes some flexibilities including that small carmakers producing less than 10,000 vehicles per year can negotiate weaker targets until 2036.

The car CO2 law is part a broader package of tougher EU climate policies, designed to deliver the bloc’s targets to slash greenhouse gas emissions this decade.

EUropean Parliament – EU ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2035 explained

All new cars and vans sold in the EU as of 2035 should not produce any CO2 emissions. What does this mean in practice? Check out our FAQ to find out.

To reach its climate neutrality goal by 2050, the EU is taking action to reduce emissions from cars as road transport accounts for one fifth of the EU’s CO2 emissions. In June 2022, Parliament backed the European Commission’s proposal of zero emissions from new cars and vans by 2035. Intermediate emissions reduction targets for 2030 would be set at 55% for cars and 50% for vans.

Dutch MEP Jan Huitema (Renew), who drafted the report about the revision of the EU’s CO2 standards for new cars and vans, joined a Facebook live on the new emission rules in July, on which this Q&A is based.

When will there be a ban on the sale of new CO2-emitting cars, including petrol and diesel-driven cars ?

From 2035, all new cars that come on the market cannot emit any CO2. This is to ensure that by 2050, the transport sector can become carbon-neutral.

What will happen to current petrol and diesel-driven cars? Can we still drive them after 2035?

Yes, you can still drive your current car. The new rules don’t mean that all cars on the road have to produce zero CO2 emissions by 2035. These rules don’t affect existing cars. If you buy a new car now, you can drive it until the end of its lifespan. But, because the average life span of a car is 15 years, we have to start in 2035 to aim for all cars to be CO2-neutral by 2050.

Will it still be possible to buy and sell second hand petrol and diesel-driven cars after 2035, and get fuel for them?

Yes, this will all still be possible. However, the total cost of ownership – cost of fuel, maintenance, purchasing and insurance – might increase.

What type of zero CO2 emission cars will most people be driving?

The trend is mostly towards battery-electric vehicles, because the total cost of ownership is lower than the alternatives. For example, the production of hydrogen and e-fuels – made from electricity and hydrogen and turned into synthetic petrol – is more expensive as it requires a lot of electricity. However, batteries are heavy, which means some means of transport cannot easily be battery-powered – therefore hydrogen or e-fuels can be a good solution for ships, planes or heavy-duty vehicles.

    Will electric cars be affordable?

It’s more cost efficient to use electric-powered vehicles as electricity prices are CURRENTLY lower than petrol prices and they require less maintenance. So once purchased, the total cost of ownership of a battery-driven car is the same or cheaper than a petrol or diesel car. However, today electric cars are expensive. The new rules should encourage more competition and encourage manufacturers to invest in research and innovation into electric vehicles, which should drive the purchase price down.

Another issue is the second-hand car market, which has not yet developed for electric vehicles.

What will happen to the waste from electric batteries?

This will be addressed by other legislation – such as the renewable energy directive and new battery regulation – making sure the production process is CO2-neutral, does not have an adverse effect on the environment and that we are recycling the batteries. There is also a lot of work being done on innovating batteries and not just for cars.

Is there sufficient infrastructure for zero CO2 emission cars? Is it only for people living in cities?

Manufacturers are currently working on cars with a range of more than 600 kilometres. Efficiency is improving so that cars don’t have to charge as often, or can charge with a regular plug at home. Parliament has also recently agreed its position for the alternative fuels infrastructure to provide for more electric charging and hydrogen refuelling stations.

    What are the next steps?

The Parliament and EU countries reached an agreement on the final form of the rules in October 2022.

Russian troops stormed the Ukrainian coal mining city of Vuhledar

Ukrainian forces are killing nearly 1,000 Russian troops every day, and they eliminated 5,000 troops in a single battle in late January, according to U.K. officials citing data from Ukraine.

Russian troops, including the elite 155th naval infantry, stormed the Ukrainian coal mining city Vuhledar near Dontesk in late January. Ukrainian forces repelled the offensive, however, and killed, injured or captured 5,000 Russian troops. Meanwhile, U.K. officials say the war is exacting a heavy toll on Russia, with 824 Russian troops dying each day, according to Ukrainian updates.

“The 155th brigade already had to be restaffed three times. The first time after Irpin and Bucha; the second time they were defeated near Donetsk – they recovered again,” Oleksiy Dmytrashkivskyi, a Ukrainian defense forces spokesman, told Politico. “And now almost the entire brigade has already been destroyed near Vuhledar.”

The spike in Russian casualties comes as Russian President Vladimir Putin has conscripted hundreds of thousands of fresh troops into his military. The poorly trained recruits are now making their way to the battlefields of Ukraine.

News of Russia’s losses comes a day after the U.S. Department of State ordered all U.S. citizens in Russia to leave immediately on Monday, warning of false arrests.

“U.S. citizens residing or traveling in Russia should depart immediately,” the U.S. Embassy in Moscow warned. “Exercise increased caution due to the risk of wrongful detentions.”

In a stark message the department also said, “Do not travel to Russia.”

  3. EXCLUSIVE: Ukraine and Russia Are Violating Ban on Chemical Weapon Use in War – Is It Accelerating?
    By Joe Hoft
    Published February 14, 2023 at 10:00am

Ukraine and Russia have violated the ban on chemical weapon use in war, but has Ukraine gone a step further?

    Guest post by Lawrence Sellin

Both Ukraine and Russia signed and ratified the 1993 Chemical Weapons Convention.

Article I (5) of the Convention states: “Each State Party undertakes not to use riot control agents as a method of warfare.”

Article II (7) defines “Riot Control Agent” as: “Any chemical not listed in a Schedule, which can produce rapidly in humans, sensory irritation or disabling physical effects which disappear within a short time following termination of exposure.”

Videos from Russian and Ukrainian sources released online show that chemical weapons as defined above are being used in the Ukraine war.

The following video shows a riot control agent being deployed against Russian troops from a Ukrainian drone in clear violation of the 1993 Chemical Weapons Convention.

(Video, Ukrainian drone tear gas attack)

It appears that the Russians have also used riot control agents against Ukrainian positions, but in the following video no Ukrainian soldiers appear to have been affected.

(Video, Russian drone tear gas attack)

One of the reasons given for including riot control agents in the 1993 Chemical Weapons Conventions was that their use in war might lead to the deployment of more dangerous chemical agents.

    Has that happened?

A recently published Gateway Pundit article, included a Ukrainian-made and Ukrainian-distributed video of a Russian soldier flailing in a waist-deep, watered-filled ditch unable to right himself after another accompanying Russian soldier apparently died from unknown causes.

Additional analysis has been done on that video, which confirms and expands upon the initial observations presented in the original Gateway Pundit article.

Relevant screenshots are presented in an attempt to ascertain what had occurred, even though the video is edited, often unclear and may not show sequential events.

Two types of high explosive munitions are shown in the video, a F1 fragmentation hand grenade and a 30mm VOG-17M.

Based on the video evidence, it is possible that the first Russian
soldier was killed by the F1 hand grenade dropped from the Ukrainian drone, but the lead (second) Russian soldier appeared unaffected by it.

The lead (second) Russian soldier was already flailing and unable to right himself in waist-deep water before the second, 30mm VOG-17M, munition was dropped from the drone.

The cause of the flailing was obviously edited out of the video.

Seizure or convulsive-like responses are more characteristic of chemical weapon use than injuries sustained from high explosive munitions.

Hydrogen cyanide and nerve gas can cause seizures or convulsions, the former agent being easier to obtain, handle and deploy.

Clearly, both Ukraine and Russia have violated the 1993 Chemical Weapons Convention by their use of riot control agents.

It appears that these actions are becoming more dangerous which is certainly worthy of investigation.

  5. HUNGARY – German and Italian Far-left Extremists Attack Innocent People in Budapest

Four members of a group who had attacked people on the streets of the Hungarian capital in the previous days, apparently without any prior provocation, were arrested on Saturday, the Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK) informed. The attackers appear to have been far-left extremists, mostly foreigners, who attacked pedestrians because they were perceived as far-right.

The Budapest Police Headquarters held a press conference on the case on Monday morning. Béla Nyerges, Head of the Investigation Department of the Budapest Police Headquarters reported that a total of four attacks had taken place in the Hungarian capital on Thursday and Friday. The first of them took place on F?vám Square last Thursday, where three, reportedly Polish tourists, were attacked by 7-8 people with various means. After the incident, the perpetrators ran away, leaving two of the three victims with serious injuries.

At that time the motif for the attack was unknown. The next day, Friday, another incident occurred, this time in Gazdagrét, on the Buda side of the capital. This was reported in the Hungarian press during the weekend, and it was suggested that the attackers may have been so called “anti-fascists”. A video of the attack was also published, showing eight people attacking the victim from behind with a viper, then knocking him down and spraying him with pepper spray.

News reports at the time said that the attackers mistook the man walking in the street for a far-right commemorator. In Hungary, 11 February is the “Day of Honor”, commemorating the day when German and Hungarian troops attempted to breakout from Buda on the evening of 11 February 1945. In the Battle of Budapest, German-Hungarian troops surrounded in the Buda Castle district made a concerted attack in a westerly direction to reach the contiguous German battle line. This is one of the biggest annual events of the far right in Hungary, and many people from abroad also usually attend.

Far-right organizers wanted to hold gatherings commemorating the 1945 event, but the police refused to allow these. Still, many supporters showed up in the Hungarian capital, and at the same time, far-left protesters also emerged. On Saturday, many leftist demonstrators gathered in the Buda Castle district to protest against the Day of Honor, holding Antifa-flags among other things.

As stated at the press conference on Monday by Béla Nyerges, the attack on the man in Gazdagrét was senseless, incredibly cruel and unjustified.

It then became clear to the police that the two attacks were part of a series, and a 24-man investigative team was immediately set up to hunt for the perpetrators.
In the meantime, however, a third attack occurred on Friday night in Bank Street in the 5th district. Here, a Hungarian couple returning home from a concert were attacked by five people with pepper spray. The pair was severely assaulted, with the man sustaining serious injuries.

Shortly afterwards, at half past midnight, a fourth attack took place in the 1st district, where the victim was a German couple. They were also on their way home from a concert when six people attacked and assaulted them.

At the police press conference, it was said that the police had carefully examined the victims’ entire itinerary to get some idea of why they had been targeted by the perpetrators in a capital of 2 million citizens. Another interesting fact is that the attackers did not want to take anything from the victims, nor did they demand anything, they simply beat them with iron pipes and hammers.

As it turns out, the only thing that links the victims is their clothing.
They were all wearing either camouflage patterned clothes, and black jackets or so-called bomber jackets. These would suggest that they were right-wing and had arrived in the city the commemorate the day of the outbreak in 1945. However, there are no facts on this assumption at this stage, only the garments suggest what might have been the case. There was no communication from the attackers either, they attacked without any sound, they did not say they were doing it for the clothes and for their presumption about the victims political approach.

It was revealed, however, that prior to the attack in Gazdagrét, the victim was approached by one of the attackers, a stranger woman, who asked him if he had arrived to commemorate the Day of Honor. The man replied that he did not, he was just on his way to work, but was attacked anyway.

The police also reported that the perpetrators followed each of the victims around the city for a long period of time.
One or two offenders typically followed their intended victims closely, with the others lagging a little behind. The investigation also revealed that there could be as many as 15 perpetrators, who attacked in various configurations. In one incident, for example, 11 people followed the victim, but only eight attacked.

During the manhunt, the police wanted to catch the perpetrators as soon as possible because they suspected that further attacks would follow. They finally caught some of the perpetrators in the 1st and 6th districts in the early afternoon of Saturday, three in total, including a German man, a German woman, and an Italian woman. They were found in possession of offensive equipment. On Saturday night, a Hungarian woman was also arrested at her residence, suspected of being actively involved in the attacks, as were the three foreigners.

One of the shocking details of the attacks was the high proportion of women among the perpetrators, with half of the attackers in one attack being women. They were not only watching but also properly beating and using the assault weapons.
The four persons arrested all deny the crimes, and the foreigners also refused to cooperate, refusing to answer when they arrived in Budapest or where they were staying. The Hungarian woman has so far not professed extremist ideas or posted any content on the Internet, but she told police that she is left-wing.

It was also mentioned at the press conference, that on Saturday, another incident took place at Széll Kálmán Square in Buda. There, far-right supporters attacked their political opponents, i.e. far-leftists, but the police has already arrested the perpetrators. It is not yet known if this incident was a revenge for the previous attacks.

According to several news reports, one of the victims is László Dudog, a Hungarian rock musician known in national circles. There are also articles about how some of the perpetrators were Greek, alongside Germans.

What Edward Snowden just said about UFO’s is TERRIFYING and should concern all of us.

NSA whistleblower and american hero Edward Snowden agrees with us here at Redacted that all of this UFO talk is just a distraction to take your mind off of what’s really going on here.

Take your mind off Seymour Hersh’s bombshell report that the US blew up the Nord Stream pipeline.

Distract us all from the coming WW3 that NATO is actively pulling us into.

  8. For the last couple of years I have been concentrating on other things and most of the sabatoge didn’t ring loud alarm bells.

First thing we have to do is think of all of the sabatoge being related and probably directed by the same people (never forget that our monolithic, they are composed of many different groups with different end goals.) that are pushing the clot shot on us. These attacks are designed to destroy the US, not just our economy but the entire nation. This destruction will partially be due to an engineered economic collapse that will destroy the global economy. (All nations that want to remain free must ensure that their Military Equipment and that the vast majority of their food supple are produced internally. This is why the left works do destroy all internal production of both)

The collapse will trigger massive fighting around the world as every nation and ethnic group starts scrambling to preserve themselves. The internal fighting in the nations (think Italy during the warring states period) will ensure that the chaos will last much longer then anything we have seen in the past couple of Centuries. (I recently read someone who said we were entering the forever war.)

This war/chaos will be complicated by the Deep Ecology types who are insisting that the earth can’t sustain a population of more then 600 hundred million. Many of thy dystopian future SF novels combined this idea with the eugenics idea breeding a new race of Supermen. One of the ways this is to be accomplished will be requiring people to receive government permission for each child the bring into the earth. Note this isn’t a 1 or 2 child per couple but some people getting unlisted permits and others being refused any. We can all see the corruption this will quickly lead to.

The people pulling Obama’s strings may be trying to use a fake alien invasion to bring about their goals. While this may aid their economic, societal and political sabatoge to bring about the collapse and start the Forever War, it is a short term tactic that will end up backfiring on the left.

It is too late to save Western Civilization but not too late to save individual nations and the ideas of Individual Rights with everyone being Equal Under The Law. As long as we can preserve these principals as the foundations for our nations we can build a new civilization.

After Donor’s Name Removed From Building By Woke University, Descendent Demands $3.6 Billion
    By ProTrumpNews Staff
    Published February 14, 2023 at 11:35am

The University of Richmond announced back in September that they would be removing the name of T.C. Williams from their law school.

In an email, to the university community, they said that recently located government records showed that T.C. Williams owned slaves.

We are writing to communicate an action taken by the Board of Trustees at its meeting today and arising from the Board’s adoption of Naming Principles in March 2022. The Board voted unanimously to change the official name of the law school from the T.C. Williams School of Law to the University of Richmond School of Law. The law school has been referred to as the University of Richmond School of Law for more than 20 years. This decision to formally adopt that name was made in accordance with Principle 6 of the Naming Principles, which states:

No building, program, professorship, or other entity at the University should be named for a person who directly engaged in the trafficking and/or enslavement of others or openly advocated for the enslavement of people.

As many of you are aware, the Board adopted the Naming Principles as formulated by the Naming Principles Commission last academic year. That commission, with student, staff, faculty, alumni, and trustee representation, as well as external expertise, recommended the principles to the Board after an extensive and inclusive process in which more than 7,500 members of the University community provided their perspectives. The purpose of the principles is to provide a clear and consistent framework to guide decisions about naming and removal or modification of names for named entities at Richmond.

To provide some context, Thomas C. Williams, Sr. (1831–1889), known as T.C. Williams, operated tobacco businesses in Richmond and elsewhere in Virginia, including Patterson & Williams and Thomas C. Williams & Co. He attended Richmond College (1846–49), was a Richmond College trustee from 1881 until his death in 1889, and was a benefactor of the institution. In 1890, Williams’s family made a memorial gift of $25,000, creating an endowment that established a strong foundation for the law program’s development. Several of his children — one of whom succeeded Williams on the Board of Trustees until 1929 — also provided generous support to the University and the law school. In 1920, when Richmond College was re-chartered as the University of Richmond, the law school began consistently to use the name T.C. Williams School of Law…

A descendant of Williams is now fighting back against the University.

He is demanding his family be given $3.6 billion from the university.

    The Daily Mail reported:

A Virginia lawyer demanded the University of Richmond pay his family $3.6billion after the southern school removed the name of his ancestor from its law school because he was a slave owner.

Robert C. Smith, whose great-great grandfather TC Williams Sr. was an early and prominent benefactor of the recently renamed Richmond School of Law, wrote a letter to university president Kevin Hallock demanding the school pay back William’s 1890 donation – adjusted for inflation, plus interest.

Smith accused the school of giving in to ‘woke activists’ when it removed Williams’ name from the law school following a 2021 campus furor over campus buildings bearing the names of slave owning and openly racists benefactors.

The university said records from the 19th century showed Williams owned up to 40 slaves on his tobacco farms, but Smith claimed his family was never shown that evidence.

In a letter to the school, he said, “since you and your activists” want to discredit the name of Williams and claim the money is tainted all the money should be returned.

    The Epoch Times reported:

Jesse Williams, father of T.C. Williams, donated building materials to the First Baptist Church, he said. The family patriarch also donated masonry and other materials for the neighboring First African Baptist Church, Smith wrote in his January letter.

It’s only right, Smith said, for the university to turn over its $3.3 billion endowment to Williams descendants. The remaining $300 million owed should be secured with a note using the campus buildings as collateral, he wrote.

“All your woke faculty” should pledge their assets to secure the loan, he added.

“Since you and your activists went out of your way to discredit the Williams name, and since presumably the Williams family’s money is tainted, demonstrate your ‘virtue’ and give it all back,” he wrote.

Will they be forced to give it all back?

Federal judge in Illinois’ gun ban cases orders state to show ‘each and every item banned’
By Greg Bishop | The Center Square 19 hrs ago

(The Center Square) – Three federal lawsuits against Illinois’ gun ban made some movement Monday as a federal judge ordered a response from the state to show “each and every item banned.”

In the Southern District of Illinois, four cases are pending. One is from the Federal Firearms Licensees of Illinois. Plaintiffs in that case filed a motion for preliminary injunction last week.

In three other cases, federal Judge Stephen McGlynn ordered state defendants to provide “illustrative examples of each and every item banned” under state law.

Thomas Maag, who brought the state level Crawford County case that was transferred to federal court, said the judge’s order will make it difficult for the state to comply.

Because the ban is so all encompassing and uses a great many vague terms that I’m not even sure that exactly what is banned and that’s probably why judge McGlynn ordered the state to do that so that we could find out what exactly we are arguing about,” Maag told The Center Square on Monday.

He said “the state has a tough row to hoe,” especially given recent U.S. Supreme Court precedent that cases regarding the Second Amendment must review text and tradition, not a balancing of state interest versus individual civil liberties.

“The plaintiffs in my case remain extremely confident that we’re going to succeed on the merits of this case,” Maag said. “This statute never should have been passed in the first place. And applying the Bruen analysis, we believe that the days of Illinois’ magazine and firearms ban are numbered and the number is not very large.”

Maag predicted a ruling on a preliminary injunction, which he said asks the court to prohibit enforcement of the statute pending final resolution of the case, could come sometime in mid- to late-March or early April.

The state has until Feb. 28 to respond in Maag’s case. In the case brought by the Illinois State Rifle Association, the state has until March 1 to respond and March 2 to respond in the case brought by the National Shooting Sports Foundation.

  18. U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield falsely accused Hungary of “Holocaust memorial vandalism” last Thursday, charges which Hungary has labeled as “outrageous” and “false.” Budapest is demanding an apology from the failing Biden regime.

Last week, swastikas were spray-painted on a Jewish grave site in Australia. A Holocaust memorial was vandalized in Hungary. A Russian missile hit a Ukrainian synagogue,” Thomas-Greenfield said at a High-Level Side Event on Globalizing Efforts to Combat Antisemitism in New York last week.

Hungarian diplomats were outraged by Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield’s claims, as no such act of vandalism had occurred in Hungary for years. The Hungarian government condemns any kind of anti-Semitism and follows a zero-tolerance policy. Hungary is actually one of the safest countries for Jewish people in Europe after mass Muslim migration to countries like France, Sweden and Germany made anti-semitic attacks a daily occurrence there, with Hungarian Jewish communities experiencing a renaissance for more than a decade now.

  19. Anchorage has seen almost double its usual snowfall since December
By Wesley Early, Alaska Public Media – Anchorage -February 13, 2023

With the latest weekend storm in Anchorage, the city’s snowfall tally since the start of December now totals about 6 feet.

That’s almost double what’s usual in those two-and-a-half months, according to the National Weather Service. And, it’s just the amount recorded at the weather service’s official measuring spot at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Some parts of town saw more, including this weekend, said meteorologist Matthew Fazal. The West Anchorage spot got about 7 inches of snow on Sunday, a new record.

“If you’re going toward the Hillside, we’ve been getting reports of 16 to 18 inches of snow,” Fazal said.

He said, just this month, more than 23 inches of snow have fallen in Anchorage.

“The normal is six,” he said. “So that gets us 17.5 inches above normal.”

The weekend storm clogged Anchorage streets, creating hazardous road conditions. The Anchorage School District closed school buildings and canceled after-school activities on Monday, but class was still in session. The district declared a remote learning day.
