  2. Prominent Republican Leaders Sign a Letter in Support of the 20 GOP House Members Opposing McCarthy for Speaker
    By Joe Hoft
    Published January 5, 2023 at 8:15am

A group of prominent conservative leaders signed a letter yesterday sharing their support for the courageous GOP members of the US House who are standing up against Kevin McCarthy for Speaker.

Twenty courageous GOP members in the House are standing up and saying and showing that they will not vote for Kevin McCarthy for Speaker of the House. Many feel that these are the real conservatives in the party.

Many also believe that McCarthy is a card-carrying DC swamp member. These twenty GOP representatives refust to vote for McCarthy for that reason. They believe a McCarthy Speakership will be more of the same.

With the country facing its greatest crisis since the Civil War, these GOP Representatives know that we need a courageous leader not a chameleon.

    The Daily Caller reported:

Dozens of prominent conservatives, including a former attorney general for the Reagan administration, released a letter Wednesday in support of the 20 House Republicans standing between Rep. Kevin McCarthy and his bid for the speakership.

“Months ago, these members made clear that this established way of doing things was no longer acceptable,” the Conservative Action Project letter said. “Rather than engage them in a good faith negotiation, Rep. Kevin McCarthy has instead maligned both the requests and the messengers. He has publicly and through proxies leveled attacks against members of his own party, including threatening to deny committee assignments for those who continue to oppose him.”

Some of the signees included Edwin Meese III, former attorney general for Ronald Reagan, Ginni Thomas, president of Liberty Consulting and wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Jim DeMint, chairman of the Conservative Partnership Institute and former U.S. senator.

Below is a copy of the letter found here.

    January 4, 2023
    Washington, DC

Conservative organizations and the millions of grassroots conservatives we represent are united in our support of the 20 courageous members of Congress seeking to change the status quo in Washington.

Over the past decade, the House has grown increasingly autocratic. Rank and file members are routinely denied a chance to participate in the legislative process, committees are ignored, deals and loopholes for interests abound, and there is virtually no amendment process for any bills, large or small. The outcome reflects the process: bills that cater to a handful of members in leadership and K street lobbyists, but ignore the priorities of the voters.

Months ago, these members made clear that this established way of doing things was no longer acceptable. They made public a series of proposed reforms designed to democratize the House – to engage the broader membership in legislating, and bring accountability back to the People’s House.

Rather than engage them in a good faith negotiation, Rep. Kevin McCarthy has instead maligned both the requests and the messengers. He has publicly and through proxies leveled attacks against members of his own party, including threatening to deny committee assignments for those who continue to oppose him. Moreover, he has failed to answer for, or commit to halting, his coordinated efforts in the 2022 elections to promote moderate Republican candidates over conservatives.

Because of this, he has thus far failed to garner the 218 votes necessary to lead the House GOP conference in three separate rounds of voting. The job of the Speaker is to garner consensus among disparate factions of the party, and unite them.

These members represents the millions of voters across the country who are disgusted with the business-as-usual, self-interested governance in Washington. We stand behind them and beside them in their courageous efforts to find a Speaker of the House who will represent the interests of conservatives. We encourage more conservative members to join their ranks.

Award-winning journalist Alex Newman, author of the popular book “Deep State,” says the world is waking up fast to the global genocide caused by the CV19 bioweapon passed off as a vaccine. Because of this public awakening, Newman says the desperate Deep State is planning intense chaos in multiple areas to cover their tracks and distract the public away from the extreme crimes globalist elites have committed. Newman explains, “What they are going to be doing over the coming year is massive numbers of crises and expanding and accelerating existing crises. They will be fomenting new crises such as food crises, immigration crises, border crises, currency crises and terrorism crises. You name it because that is what they do. 5. Cardiologist: ‘Absolutely No Link’ Between COVID-19 Vaccine & Damar Hamlin’s Collapse

DBL Health Expert Dr. Payal Kohli, a cardiologist, strongly refuted assertions on social media that the COVID-19 vaccine caused Damar Hamlin’s collapse and cardiac arrest.

Colts’ Rodney Thomas II joins CNN This Morning to discuss visiting Damar Hamlin as the Buffalo Bills safety remains in critical condition after suffering cardiac arrest mid-game.

    • USA TODAY – Cardiac arrest can happen to children. What parents of kids in sports should know.

Damar Hamlin’s collapse during Monday night’s football game was a sobering reminder to parents of children participating in sports: This could happen to anyone.

It’s still unclear what exactly caused the Buffalo Bills player’s heart condition.

Every year, sudden cardiac arrest claims the lives of over 2,000 children and teens in the U.S., according to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. This accounts for about 3% to 5% of all deaths in children aged 5 to 19.

“Everyone’s at some potential risk,” said Dr. Gul H. Dadlani, division chief of cardiology at Nemours Children’s Health in Orlando, Florida. “The same thing could happen to a high school student or the non-athlete who’s just at home.”

Although sudden and unpredictable, health experts say there are ways to reduce a child’s risk of suffering a potentially fatal cardiac arrest.

Annual physicals and screening helps lower risk of sudden cardiac arrest

Annual physical evaluations are an important way to catch heart abnormalities before causing a sudden cardiac arrest. Health experts recommend parents schedule a checkup for their child every year, regardless of whether they participate in sports.

While most states require a physical before participating in student sports, Dadlani said only some parts of the country incorporate screening with an electrocardiogram, commonly known as an ECG or EKG, which records the heart’s electrical signal.

“EKG screening does not pick up all forms of cardiovascular disease,” he said. But it does “lower the risk of sudden cardiac arrest – significantly.”

Heart conditions that can lead to cardiac arrest in children

An EKG can detect symptoms caused by some of the most common heart conditions that lead to cardiac arrest, including:

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which causes the heart muscles to thicken, sometimes making it difficult for blood to follow out of the heart, according to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital at University of Michigan Health.
Ion channelopathy, which is when an abnormal protein conducts electrical energy in the heart muscle, Dadlani said. It can cause heart disorders like Long QT syndrome or Brugada syndrome.
Another common cause of cardiac arrest in children is a coronary artery abnormality, which cannot be detected through EKGs.

“A coronary artery supplies nutrients and oxygen to the heart muscle,” he said. “Some people can be born with an abnormal take of their coronary arteries so while they’re participating in sports, that can be suppressed and lead to a cardiac arrest.”

      Genetic testing

Some common heart conditions that may cause a cardiac arrest are hereditary, Dadlani said, and can be detected through genetic screening.

In patients who have a family history of heart conditions, cardiologists can test for genetic markers that have been associated with disorders that may cause a cardiac arrest.

However, genetic screening is only done if there’s a family history or if the patient is showing clinical symptoms, Dadlani said.

CPR education and access to AEDs

Most states require schools to train students in CPR before high school graduation, according to the American Heart Association. But health experts say it never hurts to take a refresher course.

The chance of surviving a sudden cardiac arrest is as low as 10% without cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or CPR, Dadlani said. But those odds can get up to 60% using effective chest compressions and an automated external defibrillator, or AED.

“What I tell every parent is first learn CPR,” said Dr. Lance Becker, professor at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research and chairman of emergency medicine at Northwell Health. “Learn it for your children, learn it for your loved ones, learn it for you parents.”

An AED is a portable medical device that analyzes a heart’s rhythm to deliver a shock and restart the heart during a cardiac arrest. Health experts suggest having these devices accessible during sporting events.

Cardiac arrests “are one of the leading causes of death (in the general population) and every one of them is just as shocking as Damar Hamlin,” Becker said. “We could save many more people if everyone learned CPR” and used an AED.

“We would save tens of thousands of people.”

  12. BREITBART – ‘Elon Musk Agreed’ with German Minister on EU Censorship Plan – Claim

Elon Musk has agreed that Twitter must continue to combat “disinformation” ahead of coming EU censorship plans, a German minister has claimed.

Volker Wissing, Germany’s Federal Minister for Transport, has claimed that he and Elon Musk have agreed that Twitter must continue to fight “disinformation” in the lead-up to EU censorship controls coming into force.

While Musk has openly said that he wants Twitter to become a platform that is more friendly towards free speech, he has since publicly insisted that he will bow to EU demands for further censorship, with senior bloc officials threatening to ban the platform from the union should he refuse.

Although the Twitter CEO’s true intentions on the matter remain unknown, Wissing has claimed that a meeting with Musk has shown that they are on the same page when it comes to “disinformation” being tackled on Twitter.

In a post thanking the tech billionaire for the meeting in San Francisco, the German minister said that the pair agreed on the need for Twitter to keep up its “commitments” regarding disinformation before the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA) — which will heavily regulate what content and moderation is and is not allowed on social media platforms — comes into effect.

“My stance is clear: the platforms’ commitment to [disinformation] must be strictly adhered to until [the DSA] comes into force,” the Free Democratic Party politician wrote on Twitter. “Elon Musk agreed with me.”

Although Wissing did not share what opinion — if any — Musk expressed in regard to the EU’s DSA censorship plan itself, the Twitter owner has made a habit of committing himself to implement the will of Brussels on his platform.

For instance, shortly after Musk acquired Twitter and began to implement his pro-freedom of speech reforms, the European Union’s Internal Market Commissioner, Thierry Breton, threatened to have the social media platform removed from the bloc should the union’s demands for censorship not be met.

Despite branding himself a “free speech absolutist“, Musk ended up conceding his position to Breton, promising the commissioner that he was “exactly aligned” with the bloc’s aims to control speech during a meeting in Austin, Texas.

“I very much agree with… it’s been a great discussion… I really think… I agree with everything you said, really,” Musk remarked in a video with Breton that was posted online. “I think we are very much of the same mind and anything that my companies can do that will be beneficial to Europe, we want to do that.”

Joe Biden on Thursday delivered remarks on border security and enforcement.

Biden is already blaming Republicans for the failure of his amnesty-in-disguise “comprehensive immigration reform.”

More than 5 million illegal aliens have crossed the border since Joe Biden was installed in January 2021.

Biden announced a new app that illegals can use to seek asylum in the US.

“Through the CBP One app, we are also providing a new mechanism for noncitizens to schedule appointments to present themselves at ports of entry, facilitating safe and orderly arrivals. Initially this will be used for those seeking an exception from the Title 42 public health order. Once the Title 42 order is no longer in place, CBP One will be used to help ensure safe and orderly processing at ports of entry,” Homeland Security said in a statement.
