2. Hard to know what is true anymore. Is a leaked thing a fake? Or is it deliberately leaked for a purpose not our own? Is it disinformation meaning from a major actor like a government and true enough to be taken as a whole but containing critical lies which damages specific factions or actors? I dunno. But here is a video about the leak and here is the leak.
Here is a link to a February 11, 2022 UNZ article saying pretty much the same things. I like this quote from it, alleged to be from STRATFOR:
“The primordial interest of the United States, over which for centuries we have fought wars– the First, the Second and Cold Wars– has been the relationship between Germany and Russia, because united there, they’re the only force that could threaten us. And to make sure that that doesn’t happen.” George Friedman, STRATFOR CEO at The Chicago Council on Foreign Affairs
So far I cannot find any link to that quote and Friedman and or the Council on Foreign Affairs. Lots of sites quote all this material from Pakistan and Russia though. So for whatever that is worth…
Wait wait: George Friedman of STRATFOR at the Chicago of Council on Global Affairs from June, 2015 (A very interesting video)

3. Switzerland to imprison people for heating homes beyond 66F, 19C
(I guess the question is, what is the temperature in prison? Maybe its the better option)
Imagine going to jail for three long years for heating your home or business. That now may become a reality in Switzerland, where heating your home above 19 C (66.2 F) is considered excessive and a punishable offense. Water may not be heated above 60C (140F), and saunas and hot tubs powered by radiant heaters are prohibited. Indoor swimming pools also must remain cold.
Markus Sporndli, a spokesman for the Federal Department of Finance, said that people could be charged a daily fine of 30 francs for disobeying, but the fee could spike to 3,000 francs. The government is warning that there could be “spot checks” and said they would send authorities if someone reports a resident or business for breaking the law. Switzerland imposed fines and expected neighbors to turn on one another for COVID, and this is yet another power grab.
The law is still being finalized, but this is yet another way for the government to turn the common person into a criminal. The government, not the people, created this energy crisis and now demands that the people suffer for their mismanagement. Some are calling these measures “Green fascism” or “ecofascism.”

Hungary to force women to listen to ‘foetal heartbeat’ before they can have an abortion
Decree says women requesting abortion to be made to hear ‘clearly identifiable indication of foetal vital signs’
Women in Hungary seeking an abortion will be forced to listen to the “foetal heartbeat” before undergoing the procedure, according to a new decree by the nation’s right-wing government.
Under the order, which comes into effect from Thursday, healthcare providers will be required to provide pregnant women requesting an abortion with “a clearly identifiable indication of foetal vital signs”.
The sign of a foetus’s vital functions is often associated with a heartbeat.

the guardian – Hungary tightens abortion access with listen to ‘foetal heartbeat’ rule
Fears move will pave way for more restrictions in country where terminations are widely accepted
Hungarian women seeking an abortion will be obliged to “listen to the foetal heartbeat” before they can access the procedure, according to a new decree issued by the government of the far-right prime minister, Viktor Orbán.
The new regulation is due to come into force on Thursday.
“Nearly two-thirds of Hungarians associate the beginning of a child’s life with the first heartbeat,” the interior ministry said on Monday.
Since Orbán came to power in 2010, his government has pushed “traditional family values” and introduced a series of measures aimed at boosting the country’s falling birthrate. However, it had not previously attempted to amend Hungary’s relatively liberal abortion laws.
Similar legislation has been introduced in many southern US states, such as Texas and Kentucky, requiring women to hear the “foetal heartbeat” before accessing abortion as part of “informed consent”, even though doctors say use of the term “foetal heartbeat” is medically inaccurate.
There have been no changes to Hungary’s abortion laws since 1992. According to current legislation, terminations can be carried out in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy on medical or social grounds. In cases where the foetus is not viable, it can be performed at any point in the pregnancy.
However, a woman seeking an abortion needs a letter from a gynaecologist confirming the pregnancy, and has to visit family services twice, at least three days apart, where she is given counselling on adoption and state benefits for mothers. Only then can she access a referral for an abortion at a hospital.
The new legislation is an extension of the government’s anti-abortion policies, aimed at boosting the birthrate, said Noá Nógradí from Patent, a Hungarian women’s rights organisation.
“In Hungary, abortion is widely accepted in society. Statistically, two-thirds of Hungarians would not like to see further abortion restrictions,” she said. “So the government cannot outlaw the procedure overnight. But taking a series of small steps towards restriction can pass more easily.”
Nógrádi added that legal abortions had become increasingly difficult as the compulsory counselling sessions were becoming more aggressive and difficult to schedule.
“You can readily observe in the government’s communication that it has become more hardline in terms of assigning women the role of birth-givers and care providers,” she said
Most medical experts regard the term “foetal heartbeat” as misleading when referring to the early weeks of pregnancy. The sound heard during early-term ultrasounds is generated by the ultrasound machine.

Woman with toy gun grabs trapped savings from Beirut bank
BEIRUT (AP) — A woman accompanied by activists and brandishing what she said was a toy pistol broke into a Beirut bank branch on Wednesday, taking $13,000 from her trapped savings.
Sali Hafez told the local Al-Jadeed TV that she needed the money to fund her sister’s cancer treatment. She said she had repeatedly visited the bank to ask for her money and was told she could only receive $200 a month in Lebanese pounds. Hafez said the toy pistol belonged to her nephew.
“I had begged the branch manager before for my money, and I told him my sister was dying, didn’t have much time left,” she said in the interview. “I reached a point where I had nothing else to lose.”
Lebanon’s cash-strapped banks have imposed strict limits on withdrawals of foreign currency since 2019, tying up the savings of millions of people. About three-quarters of the population has slipped into poverty as the tiny Mediterranean country’s economy continues to spiral.
Hafez and activists from a group called Depositors’ Outcry entered the BLOM Bank branch and stormed into the manager’s office. They forced bank employees to hand over $12,000 and the equivalent of about $1,000 in Lebanese pounds.
Hafez said she had a total of $20,000 in savings trapped in that bank. She said she had already sold many of her personal belongings and had considered selling her kidney to fund her 23 year-old sister’s cancer treatment.
Nadine Nakhal, a bank customer, said the intruders “doused gasoline everywhere inside, and took out a lighter and threatened to light it.” She said the woman with the pistol threatened to shoot the manager if she did not receive her money.
Hafez said in a live-streamed video she posted on her Facebook account that she did not intend to do harm. “I did not break into the bank to kill anyone or set the place on fire,” she said. “I am here to get my rights.”
Hafez was celebrated as a hero across social media in Lebanon, as many in the small crisis-hit country struggle to make ends meet and retrieve their savings. She encouraged others to take similar action to reclaim their savings.
Some of the activists entered the bank with Hafez, while others staged a protest at the entrance. Hafez eventually left with cash in a plastic bag, witnesses said.
Security forces standing outside arrested several of the activists, including a man carrying what looked like a handgun. It was not immediately clear if this was also a toy gun.
Meanwhile, Alaa Khorchid who heads the Depositors’ Outcry protest group said that a man communicating and coordinating with the group broke into a bank in the mountainous town of Aley to retrieve his trapped savings. Local media reported that the man entered the BankMed branch alone with a shotgun without any shells loaded, but was unable to retrieve his savings before he was apprehended.
Both incidents occurred weeks after a food delivery driver broke into another bank branch in Beirut and held 10 people hostage for seven hours, demanding tens of thousands of dollars in his trapped savings. Most hailed him as a hero.
“There is no government, no economic recovery plan, and little reserves left,” Khorchid told the AP, adding that people have no choice but to “take matters into their own hands”.
“These people worked for decades, but not for the rulers to build palaces while they can’t afford a bottle of medicine.”
On Wednesday night, activists closed a major road in Beirut outside a police barracks holding two activists who stormed the bank earlier in the day with Hafez. The protesters demanded the immediate release of the two men.
Lebanon has scrambled for over two years to implement key reforms in its decimated banking sector and economy. It has so far failed to reach an agreement with the International Monetary Fund on a recovery program that would unlock billions of dollars in international loan and aid to make the country viable again. Its government has struggled to function in a caretaker capacity since May, and its recently elected Parliament remains deeply divided.
In the meantime, millions are struggling to cope with rampant power outages and soaring inflation.
“We need to put a stop to everything that is happening to us in this country,” Nakhal said. “Everyone’s money is stuck in the banks, and in this case, it’s someone who is sick. We need to find a solution.”

Depositors hold up two Lebanese banks to grab their own money
BEIRUT, Sept 14 (Reuters) – Two seemingly armed and desperate Lebanese depositors held up banks on Wednesday to force access to their own money, which has been blocked during a national financial meltdown.
One woman with a gun and some associates briefly held hostages at a branch of BLOM Bank in the capital Beirut, before leaving with more than $13,000 in cash from her account, a source from a depositors’ advocacy group said.
Shortly afterwards, in the mountain city of Aley, an armed man entered a Bankmed branch and retrieved some of his trapped savings, before handing himself into authorities, the Depositors Outcry and a security source said.
Lebanon’s banks have locked most depositors out of their savings since an economic crisis took hold three years ago, leaving much of the population unable to pay for basics.
In a phenomenon illustrating the plight, Wednesday’s holdups came after a man last month held up another Beirut bank to withdraw funds to treat his sick father. read more
BLOM Bank said a customer and accomplices arrived with a gun, threatened to set people on fire, and forced the branch manager and treasurer to bring money from a safe.
‘NOTHING MORE TO LOSE’
Before going into hiding, the woman, Sali Hafiz, told local news channel Al Jadeed TV the gun was a toy and that she needed the money for her sister’s cancer treatment.
“I have nothing more to lose, I got to the end of the road,” she said, saying a visit to the bank manager two days previously had not provided an adequate solution.
“I got to a point where I was going to sell my kidney so that my sister could receive treatment.”
BLOM confirmed the customer had been in to seek her money for her sister’s treatment, saying she was offered total cooperation and requested to provide documentation.
“All we have is this money in the bank. My daughter was forced to take this money – it’s her right, it’s in her account – to treat her sister,” her mother Hiam Hafiz told local TV.
Authorities did not immediately comment on the incidents.
Bankmed did not comment on its branch holdup.
Following last month’s holdup, which also involved hostages, the accused perpetrator was arrested but then released without charge after the bank dropped its lawsuit.
One senior Lebanese banker, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters it was a worrying precedent,
“I think this is an invitation for other people to do the same. As long as people get away with it, they will continue. What a failed state,” the banker said.
Banks say they make exceptions for humanitarian cases including hospital care, but depositors say that rarely happens.

CNN – Massachusetts Rep: DeSantis shipped migrants ‘for his own political benefit’
Governor Ron DeSantis’ “stunt” of chartering a private plane to fly migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts on tax payer dollars is “just not the way to treat human beings.”
Mass. state senator on migrants at Martha’s Vineyard
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, sent two planes carrying migrants to the tiny island of Martha’s Vineyard. DeSantis’ office said this is part of the state’s relocation program that intends to send migrants to “sanctuary destinations.”
But speaking on Morning in America, Democratic state Sen. Julian Cyr said what the governor is coordinating a “cruel ruse” that manipulates families looking for a better life.

Gov. Ron DeSantis Speaks After Sending Migrants to Martha’s Vineyard
BOSTON GLOPBE – ‘At first they were surprised, just like us.’ Martha’s Vineyard responds to surprise arrival of planeloads of migrants.
EDGARTOWN — Venezuelan migrants filtered in and out of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church here Thursday morning as a dozen local volunteers prepared to serve breakfast.
On the menu: cereal, breakfast sandwiches, grapefruit, and coffee.
Most of the migrants, but not all, are young men in shorts and baseball caps — dressed for the warm weather they left Wednesday on planes dispatched by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Eduardo, a 25-year-old undocumented migrant from Barquisimeto, Venezuela, set out almost three months ago, he said. Eventually, he reached San Antonio, where he stayed in the “San Pedro 7000 shelter” for a week and a half, but authorities were going to expelling them, until, he said, he received word that he could go to Boston.
“And so, we decided to accept it to see if there were more job opportunities there [we could get] quickly and all because here we want to work quickly,” he said in Spanish.
The migrants were put on a plane, believing they were headed for Boston.
“At first they said it was to Boston,” he said. But “during the trip, the captain of the plane said the name [of] here — of the island.”
When they arrived, vans came to pick them up and took them to Martha’s Vineyard Community Services.
“At first they were surprised, just like us,” Eduardo said. “But as soon as we arrived, about 15 or 20 minutes later they adapted just like us, they began to make a list and called the local police and they have been very supportive. We hadn’t eaten anything, they gave us food, they offered us to sleep, rest. They tested us for COVID. And they’ve been supporting us a lot, really a lot.”
On the Vineyard, state Representative Dylan Fernandes praised the community for helping the new arrivals.
“We are a community that welcomes immigrants and that helps one another, and you see that here today embodied on Martha’s Vineyard,” Fernandes, who represents the island, said outside St. Andrew’s Thursday morning before a meeting of community leaders.
There are 43 migrants in total, one of whom is believed to be 4 years old, Fernandes said.
Migrants were provided a booklet that listed Martha’s Vineyard Community Services as a place to contact, Fernandes said. One child needed medical attention.
The island community is currently trying to make its response more durable, Fernandes said, creating a system to ensure everyone is fed and housed temporarily. Local leaders are also working with the state attorney general’s office to get immigration lawyers to the island to meet with the migrants, Fernandes said.
“When you look at the limited housing options on Martha’s Vineyard, as I’m sure many of the folks here are aware, it’s likely we’re going to need an off island location, but all that is being explored,” he said.
Fernandes also strongly condemned DeSantis and Governor Greg Abbott of Texas for sending the migrants to the Vineyard.
“To use women and children as political pawns is cowardice. Governor DeSantis is a coward,” Fernandes said. “Their communication on this, Governor DeSantis’s on this, was to jump on Fox News and beat his chest about how tough he is on immigration. It’s inhumane. It’s depraved.”
DeSantis defended the move in remarks to reporters on Thursday during a briefing at Northwest Florida State College.
“Every community in America should be sharing in the burdens. It shouldn’t all fall on a handful of red states,” he said. Other states “don’t like it as much when you get just a small, small, small amount compared to what these folks have dealt with in Texas and in other states.”
Florida’s message, DeSantis said, is that it’s not “a sanctuary state.”
“Now what would be the best is for Biden to do his damn job and secure the border,” he said.
Susan Church, a prominent immigration lawyer based in Cambridge, said a team of attorneys in Massachusetts is working with advocacy groups including the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Economic Justice to interview the migrants and determine whether they’d be eligible for victims of crimes visas, based on reports they were coaxed into getting on a plane under the pretext that their paperwork would be expedited.
“They were duped in to getting on to the plane,” said Church, former chair of the New England Chapter of American Immigration Lawyers Association. “This is akin to kidnapping.”
Martina Thornton, manager of Dukes County Emergency Management, said there were a few families among the group of migrants, but most were men in their 20s and 30s.
“They were in general good condition, decent health, decent spirit,’’ Thornton said, adding that she did not talk with any herself because they only speak Spanish. Interpreters were used to bridge the language gap, she said.
Thornton said a Zoom meeting has been scheduled for emergency management officials from the island along with people from the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency to discuss the next step for the immigrants.
“What’s going to happen next is going to be determined by the [Zoom] call,’’ she said. “So I really don’t have anything about what’s going to happen now.”
Lisa Belcastro, the director of the Winter Homes homeless shelter on the island, who is leading response efforts, said Thursday she received a call that the migrants were arriving as they walked off two planes at the airport. Officials had about 20 minutes’ notice, Belcastro said.
Many of the migrants want to leave the island as soon as possible, she said.
“None of them wanted to come to Martha’s Vineyard. They’ve never heard of Martha’s Vineyard. This was a political move,” she said. “Not one person has asked for a handout; they have asked to work.”
A national GOP push to send migrants to blue states was on the party’s radar as recently as last year, when Texas Senator Ted Cruz touted his “Stop the Surge Act” to establish new ports of entry in deeply Democratic parts of New England. The act hasn’t passed.
Cruz told Fox News in October 2021 that he introduced the act “so rich Democrats can be sitting there and suddenly see 10, 20, 30, 50,000 illegal immigrants, like we’re seeing in Texas on a daily basis. And I can just envision them in Nantucket just sitting there, ‘Oh goodness they want to come to our clubs.’”
Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren on Thursday condemned the abrupt transfer of the migrants to the Vineyard.
“Exploiting vulnerable people for political stunts is repulsive and cruel,” Warren tweeted. “Massachusetts is fully capable of handling asylum seekers, and I’ll keep working with local, state, and federal partners to ensure we have the necessary resources to care for people with dignity.”
In Boston, some city councilors took to Twitter to condemn the action.
“It’s imperative we provide the humanitarian support these individuals deserve,” tweeted Councilor Ricardo Arroyo. “The cruelty of anti-immigrant policies and talking points is often the entire point. MA has an opportunity to model what a humane response looks like and I hope we seize it.”
Councilor Ruthzee Louijeune wrote, “This has been an issue for MONTHS & MONTHS. …Migrants have been showing up in our ERs in need of shelter. It’s a CRISIS.”
Councilor Kendra Lara tweeted: “On days like today, I think of my mother’s dangerous journey across the Mexican border and I can’t imagine how difficult it was to make that decision for herself and her children. Imagine this was the outcome?”
Carol Rose, executive director of the ACLU of Massachusetts, issued a statement Thursday morning blasting the “cruel and immoral” treatment of the migrants who were sent to the Vineyard.
“Immigrants and asylum-seekers are people—period,” Rose said. “It is cruel and immoral that some governors are involuntarily flying and busing people and families to other states, based on their perceived immigration status.”
Rose’s words were echoed Thursday by Congressman Bill Keating, a Democrat who represents the Cape and Islands, during an interview on CNN.
“They reported to me that these people got off the plane, men, women, and children from Venezuela, as they told me,” Keating told the network. “And they had a map or instructions in their hand where they would get housing and jobs. And it was a vacant parking lot, the destination.”
A spokesperson for the office of Mass. Attorney General Maura Healey, the state’s Democratic nominee for governor, said the office “has been in touch with state and local partners to offer support and resources as needed.”
Geoff Diehl, the Massachusetts Republican gubernatorial nominee, blamed the Biden administration for what he called its failure to address the migrant crisis at the southern border.
“I applaud the people of Martha’s Vineyard who instantly sprang into action to address this situation as it unfolded,” Diehl said in a statement. “I also lament the fact that a motivating factor in Florida’s decision to relocate immigrants here is that Massachusetts has become a ‘sanctuary state,’ making it a natural destination.”
