Reader’s Links for August 14th, 2022

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. “I’ve heard enough.”
“No, wait. You must listen to the entire interview. And listen twice.”
“I cannot stand idly by while I watch our great nation dragged to the gallows. The time to act is now. Didn’t you hear what she said? It is flawed logic to have suspicions and not act on them. If we are wrong there is less harm done than if we are correct but do not act.”

The ghost of President Dwight D. Eisenhower paced the floor. He stopped talking and gazed out the window. The Rose garden was lovely as always. The ghost of President Nixon sat at his desk playing solitaire. “I agree,” he replied. “It is time. The problem is the people have been disabled by this damned information warfare.”
    “Not all.”
    “No, not all.”
“As the woman says, people were forced to make decisions in fear. It has nothing to do with levels of education or sophistication in any way. Fear.”
    “And communism.”
“My own observation is that those who refused share something of a denominator. Those who did not refuse but who quickly caught on are similar. They were taught the evils of communism from an early age. This made these people wary or hesitant, somehow. There is still hope.”
    “Perhaps, Richard. I don’t know.”

Just then Maime and Pat entered the Oval Office. Maime carried a silver tray with tea and coffee. They, too, had been chatting.
“…Oh, you know how they are,” Maime said as she placed the tray on the desk, “–always the weight of the world on their shoulders.”
“Yes, you’re right, Maime”, Pat said. “–And always writing the next speech.”
“Oh, my! Why just yesterday I had Dwight hanging a portrait in the hallway. He hit his thumb driving the nail. Lord, how the air turned blue! He may as well have been dressing down that nasty fellow, Ray Theon. Oh, how he hated him.”
“Yes and as I say the speeches with these boys. My Richard makes toast in the morning sound like the Lord dawning time, itself.
    Ray Theon? Who was–?”
“–Oh, you know. That’s just what Dwight and I called it…”.

A cold draft then wafted through, vanishing the images like smoke.

  2. U.S. Department of Defense awarded a contract for ‘COVID-19 Research’ in Ukraine 3 months before Covid was known to even exist
    BY THE EXPOSÉ ON APRIL 13, 2022 • ( 132 COMMENTS )

The world first started to hear about a novel coronavirus in early January 2020, with reports of an alleged new pneumonia like illness spreading across Wuhan, China. However, the world did not actually know of Covid-19 until February 2020, because it was not until the 11th of that month that the World Health Organisation officially named the novel coronavirus disease as Covid-19.

So with this being the official truth, why does United States Government data show that the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) awarded a contract on the 12th November 2019 to Labyrinth Global Health INC. for ‘COVID-19 Research’, at least one month before the alleged emergence of the novel coronavirus, and three months before it was officially dubbed Covid-19?

The shocking findings however, do not end there. The contract awarded in November 2019 for ‘COVID-19 Research’ was not only instructed to take place in Ukraine, it was in fact part of a much larger contract for a ‘Biological threat reduction program in Ukraine’.

Perhaps explaining why Labyrinth Global Health has been collaborating with Peter Daszak’s EcoHealth Alliance, and Ernest Wolfe’s Metabiota since its formation in 2017.

  3. Progressive Florida Teacher Tries to Create a Fake Racist Controversy to Besmirch Ron DeSantis

“The Behavior Analyst observed his bulletin board was ‘Awesome,’ because of the history tied to it, but the language and reading levels on the posters were too complex for this particular group of students,” the statement continued.

It appears as though James misinterpreted – intentionally or unintentionally – the reasons for removing the material. But he could have easily cleared this up by having a conversation with district leadership, which indicates this might have been a stunt. Indeed, the report also notes that this is not the first time he has made controversial statements. When running for mayor of Sylacauga, Alabama, he called for the public hanging of people who repeat drug dealers.

  4. PHOENIX (AP) — Police arrested three Arizona parents, shocking two of them with stun guns, as they tried to force their way into a school that police locked down Friday after an armed man was seen trying to get on campus, authorities said.

The parents were arrested as they tried to get to their children to protect them, authorities said. Officers in the Phoenix suburb of El Mirage used a Taser to stop two of them as they tried to help a man whose own handgun fell to the ground while he was being taken into custody, authorities said.

The scene at Thompson Ranch Elementary School developed nearly three months after hundreds of law enforcement officers in the small Texas city of Uvalde failed to act for more than an hour as a gunman killed two teachers and 19 students.

No shots were fired at Thompson Ranch, the school wasn’t breached and no one was hurt, other than a woman taken to a hospital with Taser injuries from officers who say they were trying to stop her from attacking them.

Note the pattern: the police fail (for whatever reason, valid or not) to protect the citizens, so, the citizens take steps to protect themselves and their families. This, of course, infringes on the power of The State as the only party to have monopoly on violence (even in self protection…for example, in Canada, it is illegal to use ‘violence’ in ‘self protection’). The State (and its agents) will then crush their competition (rightly or wrongly perceived as such when citizens try to save their lives in face of violent, even deadly attacks against themselves and their families) in the ‘protection of citizens’ business much more swiftly and violently than they would apply in the protection of said citizens.

  5. At least eight people have been injured after a gunman opened fire on a bus near the Western Wall in Jerusalem’s Old City, Israeli officials say.

The suspect opened fire as the pilgrims were returning from prayers at the holy site. Two people, including a pregnant woman, are in a critical condition.

The gunman fled but is now said to have turned himself in.

The Western Wall is one of the holiest sites in Judaism. Thousands travel to pray there every year.

Israeli emergency services said the gunman targeted a bus near King David’s Tomb and a car park near the Western Wall.

The driver, Daniel Kanievsky, told local media his bus was full at the time of the shooting.

“We opened the ramp for someone on a wheelchair, and then the shooting started. Everyone got down on the floor, screaming. I tried to escape, but the bus couldn’t drive with the ramp open,” he said.

  6. A federal jury has found that a Democrat super political action committee (PAC) defamed Roy Moore, a former sheriff and U.S. Senate candidate.

The Senate Majority PAC made a false statement about Moore that was defamatory, the verdict, returned on Aug. 12, states. The PAC also published the statement despite knowing it was false or acting “with reckless regard” as to whether the statement was false, the jury said.

Jurors also found that the Senate Majority PAC invaded Moore’s privacy.

    They awarded Moore $8.2 million.

“I feel this is vindication and I give thanks to Almighty God and the jurors in this case for a great victory over our corrupt political system,” Moore said in a statement.

  8. Babylon Bee:

LAS VEGAS, NV — The FBI raided the home of Nicholas Cage in the early morning hours Friday after an anonymous tip that he had stolen the Declaration of Independence.

“I assure you, this tip was reliable and corroborated by at least two Disney movies,” said Merrick Garland in a statement after the raid. “We have good reason to believe that the Declaration in the National Archives is a fake and that Mr. Cage has been in possession of the true original for years.”

According to sources, FBI agents confiscated 12 boxes of documents, a pair of golden 1911 pistols used in the movie Face Off, and 13,000 copies of the Con Air DVD. “We also confiscated an illegal Koala, a boa constrictor, and 2 baby tigers,” said the regional bureau chief. “It was a gold mine.”

Mr. Cage claims he’s being unfairly persecuted, that law enforcement has always had it out for him and that the movie National Treasure is just a fictional movie. “I didn’t actually steal the Declaration in real life, you morons!” he shouted.

AG Garland dismissed Cage’s statement as a “disgusting and deplorable” smear of law enforcement and then invited the press to a screening of Con Air at his house.

NEW – Getty and Rockefeller oil heirs from the US donate to radical “climate activists” who find it morally acceptable to break laws and disrupt the lives of thousands of citizens in Germany and elsewhere.

Jetzt spenden Öl-Erben an radikale Klima-Chaoten

CBC – Worried of a warming world, thousands of Germans reject using LNG — including Canada’s

European climate activists continue to demonstrate today, after thousands of people marched in Hamburg,

Despite protests, Germany’s need for fuel could benefit Canadian oil and gas suppliers

They rappelled down the side of Germany’s iconic Elbphilharmonie building. Blocked a German liquefied natural gas site. And thousands of residents from across Europe filled the streets of Hamburg, Germany, in what has been a weeklong protest calling for a more sustainable society.

At the heart of their movement is this warning: liquefied natural gas (LNG) is not the solution to the energy crisis magnified by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

As Russian military aggression in Ukraine reaches the six-month mark, governments and energy industry lobbyists, including Canada’s, are floating the idea that adding LNG capacity could help circumvent Europe’s reliance on Russia’s oil and gas supply. But there’s backlash to the idea, with one demonstrator in Hamburg suggesting that to invest more in LNG would be “climate suicide,” exacerbating already high levels of carbon in the atmosphere.

“In general there’s the idea that Europe needs LNG to stay warm in the winter and this is really a lie,” Toni Lux told CBC News from the site of a protest camp set up this week in northwest Hamburg.

    ‘A crime against climate’

Lux is with the German climate activist group Ende Gelände, who along with 40 other groups, came together to create the System Change Camp. Since Monday, an estimated 6,000 people from across Europe have joined in the festival-like atmosphere, tenting, working and sharing ideas in Hamburg’s Altona Volkspark.

Many of those ideas have focused on alternatives to expanding LNG reliance, which the German government is considering in response to the energy crisis sweeping Europe.

But Lux said energy policy needs to stay fixed on transitioning to renewable sources, saying more terminals would be “a crime against climate and against people.”

Since Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, sanctions imposed by Europe and the West sparked retaliation from the Kremlin in the shipment of energy supplies. Germany, in particular, has been hard hit as it relies heavily on Russian gas pumped through the Nord Stream Pipeline, which has been reduced to about 20 per cent of its usual supply since July 27. (The Kremlin has blamed the reduction on technical issues, saying that Western sanctions affected its ability to get turbines from Canada and perform other maintenance on the pipeline.)

Regardless, as energy prices around the world shoot upward, companies and governments — including Canada — are considering more LNG development as a possible solution.

As Germany’s co-ordinator of Transatlantic Cooperation, Michael Link has previously visited Ottawa promoting the need for more LNG and other trade between his country and Canada. Link said that while he understands it takes years to build infrastructure for LNG terminals, the need is urgent.

“I’m not speaking only about Germany,” he said in an interview with CBC News Network’s Power & Politics host Vassy Kapelos. “Italy, the Netherlands, a lot of us in the European Union really are in bitter need of SAFE DEMOCRATIC ENERGY SUPPLIERS. And I think that would be good news for Canada too … because I see Germany and Canada and the European Union as a whole as ideal partners.”

Could Canada ramp up LNG exports?

In June, Reuters reported that German government officials, including Chancellor Olaf Scholz, are interested in Canada’s export potential for LNG, suggesting Scholz and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met on the sidelines at a G7 summit.

At the same time, the news agency reported that federal Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson has spoken with Canadian LNG companies with established infrastructure about whether they could increase exports to meet the demand from Europe.

In an update to CBC News, Spanish company Repsol said it’s exploring ways to increase export capacity at its facility in New Brunswick.

“The company will look at any and all business that enhances or creates value at Saint John LNG, including the potential to add liquefaction capabilities to the existing facility, Repsol spokesperson Mike Blackier said.

Other Canadian oil and gas suppliers also say they’re eager to expand further into Europe, with GNL Quebec saying it could help “Europe to diversify its energy sources.”

Alberta-based Pieridae Energy has proposed a multibillion-dollar pipeline to ship natural gas from Western Canada to Nova Scotia, where it could then be sent across the Atlantic.

And though Germany is a world leader in decreasing its energy consumption, it’s saying it needs more liquefied natural gas thanks to the shifting geopolitical landscape in Europe, said Pierre-Olivier Pineau, professor at Montreal’s HEC business school.

The world should listen, he said.

But he notes that Canada’s oil and gas sector wants guarantees before investing in new infrastructure to boost export capacity. And he’s not certain that will happen.

“I’ve never heard Germany saying … ‘We are willing to sign a purchase contract for the next 20 years,’ so that it secures all the financial aspects of the project,” he said.

What expansion would look like in Germany

For LNG terminal expansion in Germany, there are proposals for growth at multiple spaces between now and 2030, mainly in the north of the country in regions that include Wilhelmshaven and Brunsbüttel, according to a report from Reuters.

On Saturday, police clashed with protesters as they attempted to block some bridges and rail lines. A small group of demonstrators broke from the crowd and managed to block Hamburg’s Kattwyk Bridge, stopping rail traffic.

Protests climaxed in the street march of thousands, all people calling on the country — and Europe — to find an alternative to LNG to address the energy crisis.

Charly Dietz, who also took part in the demonstrations, said Hamburg was chosen because of its importance as a major port city in trade in and out of Europe.

“I think for Germany, Hamburg will be one of the critical points for the future in terms of energy transition,” Dietz said.

“We really feel like on a bigger scale together we can really move forward, push this capitalistic system to fail and build up society in solidarity to have a good life for everyone.”

The German government says Chancellor Olaf Scholz will visit Canada for a three-day trip starting next Sunday to meet with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Scholz will be joined by Germany’s economy and climate minister, Robert Habeck, and make stops in Montreal and Toronto. They’ll also visit Stephenville on Newfoundland’s west coast, where a potential new hydrogen agreement is expected to be signed.

DAILY MAIL – How the Germans deal with the eco-mob! Riot police crack down on green protesters trying to bring Hamburg to a standstill by using batons, pepper spray and water cannon

Dozens of protesters attempted to block the Kattwyk Railway Bridge leading to the harbour in Hamburg

Police said some used pepper spray, before they used it back and employed batons to disperse the blockade

The sit-down protest was one in a series of demonstrations involving more than 1,000 people across the city

The eco-mob, led by Ende Gelande, was protesting against climate crisis and new LNG terminals being built

[…]Charly Dietz, spokesperson for Ende Gelände, added: ‘The climate crisis is getting worse and worse. But instead of finally phasing out gas, the German coast is to be covered with LNG terminals.

Lt. Col. Theresa Long is a Medical Doctor at Fort Rucker who is one of the U.S. Army’s top Flight Surgeons and an expert on public health. Dr. Long makes sure military pilots are ready and able to fly America’s complicated and lethal aircraft. Dr. Long has been a skeptic of the so-called Covid-19 experimental vaccines from the beginning. After months of medical observation of the devastating effects of these injections, she’s come to a conclusion the top Army Brass does not like. When asked if she would recommend the CV19 vax to pilots she evaluates, Dr. Long, who is unvaxed, says, “If you think for a moment that the very same doctors, politicians or whoever that told you this was safe and effective, if you are waiting and holding your breath for them to come back and say, oops, we made a mistake, it’s dangerous and deadly, that’s never going to happen.”

And if an Army pilot walked into Dr. Long’s office and asked if the CV19 vax was safe? What would she tell them? Dr. Long says, “I would tell them, ‘Hell no, I don’t think it’s safe.’”

What is Dr Long seeing first hand after the CV19 injections? Dr. Long says, “I have seen everything from strokes, to clots in the spleen and liver, cancers, testicular pain, infertility, miscarriages, menstrual irregularity, lung issues, thyroid disfunction, erratic heart rates . . . a lot of things that I don’t see in someone flying an aircraft. . . . You can see myocarditis and pericarditis weeks and months after vaccines.”

    Adverse Reactions 1,3379,438

Deaths 30,162 people have died only because they got the so-called vaccine, that our politicians and “healthcare experts” have said are safe and effective. The number of deaths is up 181 from last week.

Some of the comments regarding the vaccine and the madness:

    Is it Monkeypox or Monkeypox?

“Put simply, Covid-19 was not a epidemiological event, it was a money laundering scheme, a smokescreen for the economic / social restructuring towards TOTAL CONTROL and a massive psychological operation.

Two and a half years later, as bureaucrats and POLITICIANS wind down the Covid restrictions in order to quell the growing unrest, we can be assured they will insist on retaining the ‘right’ to re-expose hem at will.”

From the very beginning of Covid, I have been shocked at the number of adults I know who have acted like panic struck little children. No reasoning, no dialogue, just fear, fear and more fear, mainly whipped up by the so-called media, so-called healthcare experts and politicians. I watched and listened to the panic stricken who could not wait to get the “life saving” vaccines. I pitied most because of the fear. They had the right to make their own decisions to get the “vaccines”, they did not have the right to condemn me for not getting the experimental shots

I now have to watch the same fear crazed so called adults take their children, like lambs to the slaughter. They will not listen, they are VERY quick to condemn. I have lost a lot of friends, I now mostly pity, but the children, who defends them?

Klaus Schwab, Soros, Gates, the global monsters counted on the fear mongers, the drama queens, the failed society to carry out their genocide – they won, society lost.

    • Social media firms accused of not tackling posts ‘celebrating’ attack on Satanic Verses author

Posts described Rushdie as a criminal and said he deserved to be killed, but were not removed until they were flagged

[…]Dozens of posts on social media praised the suspect accused of carrying out the attack, with a groupcalled “Stand with Hadi Matar” appearing on Facebook. The group had nearly 250 members in less than 24 hours, with nearly 40 posts criticising Rushdie or celebrating Matar.

Several posts praised the suspect as a “hero”, with one arguing that he “stood up for his rights and defended his faith”.

Many users sought to justify the attack by condemning perceived “blasphemy” from Rushdie, with one claiming he was a “criminal” and should be killed.

Messages praising the attack also appeared on Twitter, with some users congratulating him and others hinting at further violence.

“Let this be a reminder to all that the actions have consequences,” one post read.

the guardian – Salman Rushdie attack: Iranians react with mixture of praise and concern

Praise for attack on writer targeted by decades-old fatwa comes as some fear incident will leave Iran more isolated

[…] many pro-regime outlets in Iraq and neighbouring Iran welcomed the attack, which has been blamed on an American man of Lebanese origin, Hadi Matar.

“Cursed Salman Rushdie is stabbed with a knife in America,” said one outlet. “The evil on the way to hell; Salman Rushdie, the renegade author of Satanic Verses, was attacked in New York,” said a second publication, Khorasan. Another state outlet quoted from a report at the time of Khomeini’s fatwa, in which his successor, Ali Khamenei, said: “The imam has fired an arrow and it will not fail until it hits its target. I believe it will hit its target.

In Iraq, a media organisation, Sabreen, which supports all pro-Iranian militias, headlined its coverage with: “Peace be upon you. The revenge of God.”

Supportive coverage of the assault spread to Lebanon, where pro-Iraninian press was quick to highlight the 1989 fatwa and Rushdie’s attempts to lay low ever since, while others endorsed a conspiracy theory that suggested Iran’s enemies had attempted to harm its brand.

Pakistanis rejoice on social media after Salman Rushdie was stabbed

Hours after Salman Rushdie was brutally stabbed to death by 24-year-old Hadi Matar in West New York, several Pakistanis took to social media to celebrate the deadly attack.

Dawn News Senior Correspondent Ali Waqar led the celebrations, calling the attacker a “young freedom fighter”. He wrote: “Freedom to hate, freedom to torture, freedom to shame is not freedom of speech.”

“The man who harmed more than a billion Muslims is the greatest threat to humanity, not this young freedom fighter. Fight for the dignity of the Ummah,” the journalist concluded.

Social media influencer Faisal Butt Rizvi wrote: “This Ghazi is proud of the Muslim ummah who single-handedly attacked Salman Rushdie. May Allah bless him.”

[…]“Big news for the Ummah! Ghazi attacked Salman Rushdie today. Rushdie is a shameful man who wrote a blasphemous book against Islam. Well done, you are the pride of the Muslim Ummah,” wrote someone Abdullah Iftikhar.

[…]One self-proclaimed defender, Habib Muhammad Khan, wrote: “No one should have the right to abuse the feelings of Muslims and go unpunished. It’s good to see that he was attacked.”

  18. ‘Disturbing’: Experts troubled by Canada’s euthanasia laws

…Canada’s road to allowing euthanasia began in 2015, when its highest court declared that outlawing assisted suicide deprived people of their dignity and autonomy. It gave national leaders a year to draft legislation…

The countries that allow euthanasia and assisted suicide vary in how they administer and regulate the practices, but Canada has several policies that set it apart from others. For example:

    – Unlike Belgium and the Netherlands, where euthanasia has been legal for two decades, Canada doesn’t have monthly commissions to review potentially troubling cases…

    – Canada is the only country that allows nurse practitioners, not just doctors, to end patients’ lives. Medical authorities in its two largest provinces, Ontario and Quebec, explicitly instruct doctors not to indicate on death certificates if people died from euthanasia.

    – Belgian doctors are advised to avoid mentioning euthanasia to patients since it could be misinterpreted as medical advice. The Australian state of Victoria forbids doctors from raising euthanasia with patients.

There are no such restrictions in Canada. The association of Canadian health professionals who provide euthanasia tells physicians and nurses to inform patients if they might QUALIFY to be KILLED, as one of their possible “clinical care options….”

Some disabled Canadians have decided to be killed in the face of mounting bills…. Other disabled people say the easy availability of euthanasia has led to unsettling and sometimes frightening discussions.

Roger Foley, who has a degenerative brain disorder and is hospitalized in London, Ontario, was so alarmed by staffers mentioning euthanasia that he began secretly recording some of their conversations.

In one recording obtained by the AP, the hospital’s director of ethics told Foley that for him to remain in the hospital, it would cost “north of $1,500 a day.” Foley replied that mentioning fees felt like coercion and asked what plan there was for his long-term care…

Next year, the country is set to allow people to be killed exclusively for mental health reasons. It is also considering extending euthanasia to “MATURE” MINORS – children under 18 who meet the same requirements as adults.

[Blah, blah…] said in an email that the government had taken into account concerns raised by the disabled community when it added safeguards to its euthanasia regulations last year. Those changes included that people were to be informed of ALL services, such as mental health support and palliative care, BEFORE asking to die.
