Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

    As he wages war in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin will be welcoming a baby girl with his ex-gymnast lover — and is grumbling that the he already has enough daughters, according to a report.

    Putin, 69, is rumored to have four children with girlfriend Alina Kabaeva, a former champion Olympic rhythmic gymnast who is 30 years younger than the Russian strongman.

    The news of Putin’s latest bundle of joy was reported by the General SVR Telegram channel, which is reportedly run by Kremlin insiders.

    Putin did not appear to be very excited.

  8. Texas Grid Operator Warns Of Blackouts

    The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), which operates Texas’ electric power grid, asked households and businesses to conserve power this afternoon and warned of potential rolling blackouts.

    The grid faces a “potential reserve capacity shortage with no market solution available,” ERCOT said in a notice released Sunday night.

    ERCOT asked people to reduce energy consumption between 1400-2000 local time when temperatures are expected to soar into triple-digit territory.

    Scorching temperatures are driving record power demand and low wind output could push the grid near its breaking point. Current projections show wind generation coming in around 8% of its total capacity during peak hours today.

    Today’s forecasted power demand is expected to be around 79,671 megawatts (near a record high).

    .. looking like Texas may be short power for the next week or so. Wild rumors floating around that the Governor may call on industrials (ie refineries) to idle or significantly de-rate plants for up to a week to keep from having to black out residential consumers (Mom&Pop) in a heat wave. Don’t want to make folks sweat at home in the dark during an election year.

    Last week in Washington, protesters harassed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh at a DC restaurant, with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and establishment media applauding the harassment. According to one leftist, the DC restaurant “should be ashamed for welcoming a man who so clearly hates women,” an echo of Kavanaugh’s confirmation ordeal staring Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who had one beer.

    After the leak of the impending abortion decision, leftists began harassing Kavanaugh outside of his home, a move encouraged by the Biden administration, despite a federal law forbidding protests near a court or “residence” occupied by a judge.

    • It’s worth repeating, the Judicial appointments that President Trump made are going to keep saving the US from the left for decades.

      The left in their arrogance allowed close to half of the Court positions remain unfilled to create a log jam of cases. They knew the RINOs in charge of the Repubs wouldn’t let any of their members who was elected President fill the vacancies.

      Then Donald Trump stepped up and out maneuvered the political pros to be elected President. He set out to fill as many lower court vacancies as possible with his 2 SCOTUS appointments being the icing on the cake. The people appointed believing in the Rule Of Law are making their decisions on what the original intent of the Constitution and the laws were. They aren’t going out searching for cases that they can overturn. Instead they are waiting for cases to come before them that will allow them to reverse/throw out the illegal Judge written laws.

      Despite the hysterical claims of the left this isn’t Judicial activism but is following and enforcing the laws. The survival or the Republic and our freedom requires a non political Judiciary that follows the law. The lefts idea of a politically and socially active Judiciary is a path leading to the destruction of our culture, our freedom and our nation.

    The term “pedestrian” has a derogatory meaning because peasants walked while nobles were “equestrians” and rode horses. The industrial revolution eliminated this class difference, as it did so many others, by making car ownership available to the masses until eventually Herbert Hoover was able to boast that “Republican prosperity has reduced and increased earning capacity” to “put the proverbial ‘chicken in every pot’ and a car in every backyard to boot.”

    Democrats have spent two generations trying to get those cars out of every backyard.

    Biden is trying to bring back Obama’s mileage standards that were estimated to raise car prices by 20%.The goal is to “nudge 40% of U.S. drivers into electric vehicles by decade’s end.”

    Will 40% of Americans be able to afford electric cars that cost an average of $54,000 by 2030?

      Biden administration set to renew COVID-19 PHE this week

      HHS is set to extend the COVID-19 public health emergency by its standing deadline of July 15.

      HHS last renewed the PHE April 16 for another increment of 90 days with a pledge to provide states with 60 days’ notice if it decided to terminate the declaration or allow it to expire. May 16, the date in which states would have 60 days’ notice, came and went without updates or notifications from the agency, suggesting the declaration will extend to October.

      The extension would arrive this week amid long-standing political pressure to wind down the pandemic-born flexibilities for people, providers and federal health programs. Congressional Republicans have been urging President Joe Biden and HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra to end the declaration since February.

    June, the Biden administration’s Department of Education rolled out new Title IX guidelines related to how schools must address sexual discrimination and widening the areas of personal interaction and who would be protected under the new rules.

    The new language goes beyond sexual interaction and harassment germane to existing Title IX statutes and has broadened the types of incidents and various individuals who would now be protected.

    In fact, the 701-page Biden Title IX regulations “Clarify the Department’s view of the scope of Title IX’s prohibition on sex discrimination, including related to a hostile environment under the recipient’s education program or activity, as well as discrimination on the basis of sex stereotypes, sex characteristics, pregnancy or related conditions, sexual orientation, and gender identity [emphasis added].”
    Just as the 2011 Obama-era Title IX “Dear Colleague” letter stacked the deck against male students who were reflexively thought to be guilty sexual victimizers of passive and innocent women, the new Biden Title IX guidelines seem destined to make victims out of more students and faculty who push back or ignore the prevailing sexual orthodoxy on campuses—to their potential legal and professional detriment.     Twitter lawyered up. The company reportedly hired Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, a firm notable enough to have its own Wikipedia page, and a founding partner, Martin Lipton, credited with inventing the shareholder rights plan or “poison pill” defense that Twitter initially used to put the brakes on Musk’s attempted buyout.

    Twitter looks to be trying to buy influence on the court in Delaware.

    Twitter has hired a heavy-hitting Delaware-based law firm to sue Elon Musk for backing out of his $44billion deal to buy the company.

    The social media giant hired the Watchell, Lipton Rosen & Katz, and plans to file suit against Musk early this week, Bloomberg reported.

    The hiring of Wachtell gives the company access to lawyers Leo Strine and Bill Savitt, who previously served as Chancellors of the Delaware Chancery Court where the lawsuit would be heard.

    This is the left’s strategy today. If you can’t possibly win a case, then place it in a far-left court where you can’t lose. DC, New York, and other major cities are no longer places where free Americans can get a fair trial. So, here we go.

    Texas grid operator ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) issued a conservation alert on Monday.

    ERCOT manages electric power to more than 26 million Texas customers and represents 90% of the state’s electric load, according to the company.

    ERCOT asked customers to voluntarily raise thermostats a degree or two, turn off lights, avoid using ovens, washing machines and dryers, and unplug appliances if possible during the hours of 2-8 pm.

    Pinal County elections officials have reportedly sent out 63,000 erroneous ballots to voters ahead of the August 2nd Primary Election.

    Joe Biden on Monday told doctors and hospitals around the country that they must perform abortions in emergency situations if the mother’s life is in danger even if their state has a ban on the procedure following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade.

    The Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade last month which means states decide their own abortion laws.

    The Navy announced Sunday that a F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet was blown off the deck of the USS Harry S. Truman into Mediterranean Sea on Friday due to “unexpected heavy weather” during a replenishment-at-sea. The Navy is considering a salvage operation to retrieve the lost jet. One sailor was reported to have incurred minor injuries in the “unexpected heavy weather.” No one was in the jet when it was blown into the sea according to the Navy.
