Checking out downtown the day before James Topp is scheduled to arrive, I caught this great little moment at the War Memorial. This was the changing of the honour guard, the location where Corporal Cerillo was murdered some years ago by a jihadi muslim before he went into the Centre Block of the Parliament buildings in an attempt to kill more people. (Search the linked CBC article all you want, and you won’t find “jihad, Islam or Muslim” anywhere in it. But it was a jihad attack which came a couple of days after another jihad attack in Canada. Corporal Cerillo was murdered by a convert to Islam and attended an area mosque.)
But today, the honour guard was changed as part of its regular schedule, with a Northern detail, which I did not know existed! These are from a dedicated unit of Inuit and other Northern Canadian peoples with their own uniform and other details.
Well…..I hope the Rangers have bullets…….
