Reader’s Links for January 17, 2022

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. America’s pantry has closed its doors to its primary trading partner at a most vulnerable moment for both partners. Everything from southern fruits and vegetables to gasoline go north while all kinds of vehicles, parts, lumber and fuels move south. Winter is here and it is a brutal one. Just today Dystopia’s capital is forcast to receive almost one foot of snow. The already crippled supply-chain will become exponentially more crippled when the truckers stop trucking. The ideological mania invested in mandatory vaccines has become completely untethered from reality’s requirements. Of course, Dear Leader along with the privileged bureaucrat class–those who get a pay cheque regardless of what they do for it–will be partially insulated from the deprivations because of their steady cash flow, but will not be any more privy to produce unless they start stealing it from government warehouses. I fear our rulers are flirting with disaster.

    • Germany: COVID vaccinations ‘our best measure to overcome pandemic’ – govt spox

Government spokesperson Wolfgang Buechner stressed that vaccinations are ‘our best measure to proceed in this pandemic in order to overcome it eventually,‘ during a conference in Berlin on Monday.

Buechner urged the public to get vaccinatinated, ‘no matter if it is the first dose or a booster shot,’ adding that it is a crucial milestone in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Health ministry spokesperson Andreas Deffner supported him saying, “The crucial thing is to close the vaccination gap. Mr Lauterbach has purchased a sufficient amount of booster vaccination shots. Everyone can get vaccinated at any time, giving us the chance to bring a relatively good end to this pandemic.”

SOT, Wolfgang Buechner, Deputy Government Spokesperson (German): “It is very important that we take the recent Omicron wave, as well as the pandemic, very seriously. There is no reason to cease efforts regarding the vaccination and booster campaign. You cannot stress it enough. Each vaccination counts, no matter if it is the first dose or a booster shot. It is our best measure to proceed in this pandemic in order to overcome it eventually.”

SOT, Andreas Deffner, Health Ministry spokesperson? (German): “The new recommendation, which is also a reference for the protection regulation for quarantine and isolation, that is in placenow says that you have a recovered status for three months. The background of this is that due the prevailing Omicron variant, there is a higher risk of getting sick again after that period and be a carrier. This is why this cutback [to three months] is necessary from a scientific perspective.”

SOT, Andreas Deffner, Health Ministry spokesperson (German): “Both the Federal Government and Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach have repeatedly made clear that we stick to the scientific rationals. This is crucial in particular during the pandemic. And this will not change. We are assuming at this time that we will not need vaccinations every three months.”

SOT, Andreas Deffner, Health Ministry spokesperson (German): “The crucial thing is to close the vaccination gap. Mr Lauterbach has purchased a sufficient amount of booster vaccination shots. Everyone can get vaccinated at any time giving us the chance to bring a relatively good end to this pandemic.”

People hoping to cross the border at Emerson are having to deal with a delay Monday morning.

Truckers tell 680 CJOB that a slow-roll protest is delaying trucking and other traffic as some truck drivers protest the vaccine mandate for all truckers that came into effect on Saturday.

Driver Jamie Throp says it took him 30 minutes to reach the border crossing from the start of the protest.

“Truck drivers are circling MB-75 between Emerson Duty Free and the Commercial Inspection station blocking all lanes heading south to the United States and Northbound traffic coming from the USA,” Throp said

Requiring COVID-19 vaccines for truck drivers crossing the border into Canada is the “right thing to do,” Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos said last week as a new vaccine mandate kicks into effect.

Unvaccinated foreign national truck drivers are no longer allowed to cross the border into Canada, while unvaccinated Canadian truck drivers still have a right of return, but must test and isolate for 14 days.
The U.S. will also tighten its border restrictions this coming Saturday.

At that point, Canadian truckers will be denied entry to the States unless they’re fully vaccinated.

Anti-mask protester charged with violating condition to keep away from Legault

François Amalega Bitondo was arrested by police outside Radio-Canada’s studios, where the premier was being interviewed on Sunday.

François Amalega Bitondo, the anti-mask protester convicted of obstructing police officers last year, was arrested by Montreal police over the weekend for not respecting a condition that he keep away from Premier François Legault.

The 43-year-old was detained and made an appearance, via videoconference, before Quebec Court Judge Nathalie Duchesneau at the Montreal courthouse on Monday afternoon. He was charged with breaching a condition imposed on him in November. At the time, he had been ordered to maintain a distance of at least 300 metres away from the premier.

The judge ordered that he remain detained until a hearing scheduled for Tuesday.

A Montreal police spokesperson said Amalega Bitondo was arrested Sunday outside Radio-Canada’s studios, where he was among 20 people protesting while Legault was being interviewed inside for the show Tout le monde en parle. During the interview, Legault outlined his plan to tax Quebecers who refuse to be vaccinated .

Amalega Bitondo agreed to the condition following his arrest during a protest on Nov. 12 in Shawinigan, where the premier was attending an event intended to boost Quebec’s economy amid the pandemic. Amalega Bitondo was arrested after he approached Legault and shouted insults at the premier. He was released the same day on a promise to appear in court at a future date.

Two days later, on Nov. 14, Amalega Bitondo was spotted by police in Trois-Rivières while the Coalition Avenir Québec was holding a meeting at the Delta Hotel in the city. A police officer approached Amalega Bitondo’s car and reminded him of the condition he agreed to two day earlier. According to a bail decision that was later issued by a judge at the Trois-Rivières courthouse, the police officer used Google Maps to show Amalega Bitondo the distance between his car and the hotel.

He moved away but was later arrested, less than 150 metres from Legault, while taking part in a protest outside the hotel.

“He was calm, discussed things with police officers, said the premier was a dictator and that he wanted to talk to (Legault) but was being prevented from doing so,” Quebec Court Judge Annie Vanasse wrote in her decision made on Nov. 16 while summarizing the evidence from the bail hearing.

Amalega Bitondo was granted bail on the conditions that he reside in Montreal and maintain a distance of 300 metres from Legault.

In September, Amalega Bitondo, a former teacher at Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf, was convicted in Montreal’s municipal court in another case where he was charged with obstructing police officers in the line of duty.

On March 12, 2021, he entered a Maxi grocery store in the St-Laurent borough and repeatedly refused to wear a mask. When Montreal police officers arrived, they talked to Amalega Bitondo outside the store, but he walked right back inside. He was then tackled by the police officers when he refused to leave.

He received a suspended sentence of one year of probation with the condition that he not return to the store for 12 months.

Amalega Bitondo also has criminal cases pending at courthouses in Shawinigan, Trois-Rivières, and in Joliette, where he is charged with disturbing the peace in or near public places. Those cases return to court later this year.
