Reader’s Links for January 1, 2022

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. HAPPY NEW YEAR to Vlad and all who take the time to post information on this most excellent blog.

    May 2022 bring us all great happiness and health for, without happiness, there is no health.

    We are lucky people, we have Vlad’s great insight and we have a feel for what to expect this new year 2022. We can deal with it. Happy New Year!

  2. Happy New Year to everyone here.

    In Memoriam,
    Alfred Lord Tennyson – 1809-1892

    Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
    The flying cloud, the frosty light:
    The year is dying in the night;
    Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.

    Ring out the old, ring in the new,
    Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
    The year is going, let him go;
    Ring out the false, ring in the true.

    Ring out the grief that saps the mind
    For those that here we see no more;
    Ring out the feud of rich and poor,
    Ring in redress to all mankind.

    Ring out a slowly dying cause,
    And ancient forms of party strife;
    Ring in the nobler modes of life,
    With sweeter manners, purer laws.

    Ring out the want, the care, the sin,
    The faithless coldness of the times;
    Ring out, ring out my mournful rhymes
    But ring the fuller minstrel in.

    Ring out false pride in place and blood,
    The civic slander and the spite;
    Ring in the love of truth and right,
    Ring in the common love of good.

    Ring out old shapes of foul disease;
    Ring out the narrowing lust of gold;
    Ring out the thousand wars of old,
    Ring in the thousand years of peace.

    Ring in the valiant man and free,
    The larger heart, the kindlier hand;
    Ring out the darkness of the land,
    Ring in the Christ that is to be.

  3. Stopped by a little gathering of friends last night. At one point I counted the number of people in the room wondering if we were “legal”. We knew across the river in Quebec the government had just declared any and all gatherings illegal and had set a curfew in place. I’m not sure what the rules are here. The gracious host wondered if the nosy neighbors would call the cops because of all the cars in the driveway. “They know it’s usually just one car in the driveway,” she said. In the end no authorities came that I know of. We left early.

    There was some discussion in the group about the tracking of mobile phones. We now know Dystopia has been tracking all telephones illegally for some time. The country’s top doctor, Theresa Tam, has even put out to tender a contract for a company to be hired for this purpose. She says it is in the name of health, with some vague reference to contact tracing. Thank goodness the CCP is on the job protecting us. It has our backs.

    Getting into the car to drive home I threw my phone, and the Faraday cage it was in, on the dash. Funny how fact has surpassed fiction. Poor little writers of fiction. Begging with tin cups on the street corners for better ideas. Clink, clink. “Hey there, brother, can you spare an idea?” begs the writer. Beaten in competition by an eight-cylinder, turbo-charged reality that beats him both in the curves and the straightaways.

    “We need Faraday suits!” said my son with the overactive imagination as we pulled away from the party.
    “Well, I–,”
    “No, it’s true!” he declared. “And helmuts!”

    Maybe fiction still has some life left in it, I thought. Or does it?

  4. Pundit examines the Rogan/MucCullough interview. He makes interesting juxtapositions, diving into the weeds of the matter. Unfortunately it seems he is more intent on drawing the viewer into the weeds holding lightly-tethered, implied truths than real clarity. More legal tactic than medicine:,vid:8pcIbVvHI2c,st:0

  5. The tainted CDC’s own stats show a high number of premature fetal deaths after the Covid-19 shots BUT they still recommend pregnant womenGet the shots.

    I know of two young women who have been injected and delivered babies, one weighed 2 pounds 3 ounce the other baby was still born.

    God help us all for standing by and allowing the filthy politicians and the media for taking part in this genocide.

    We are not cattle, we are not slaves, or children, so why not stop acting like you are?

    Canadians should DEMAND the CBC be defunded. We the taxpayers are supporting this propaganda corporation to the tune of 1.6 plus billion dollars each year. Call, write, or email your member of parliament and DEMAND this farce be stopped. Step one of taking back our lives Defund the CBC.

    • Agreed about the CBC. It would be great to have a record of tons and tons of people demanding the CBC be defunded.

      I am currently watching in increments, the Quebec film maker who recently died, probably from the vaxx, movie called, The Dallas Buyer’s Club.

      Its basically the same story as Dopesick except its about AZT and how Fauci killed a lot of people for money with another drug that doesn’t work and makes you worse.

      When someone gets around to making a dramatized version of the mRNA shot atrocity, the template for it is now well established.

      • The CDC describes sodium azide as deadly. Is it in the home testing kits? If someone who has such a kit could read the information that comes with it.

          • I did answer you Johnny but a notice I have never seen before said I am blocked – access denied.

            my comment was about everyone pulling their children out of schools in Ontario -fight back

      • Fauci did state that the people with AIDS were going to die anyway – what a champion of compassion, the little monster is not.

  6. ctv news – French burn fewer cars on New Year’s Eve due to pandemic

    Hundreds of empty, parked cars go up in flames in France each New Year’s Eve, set afire by young revelers, a much lamented tradition that appeared in decline this year, which saw only 874 vehicles burned.

    The number of cars burned overnight has declined compared to New Year’s Eve 2019 when 1,316 vehicles went up in flames, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said Saturday on Twitter.

    Fewer arson attacks occurred because of massive police presence on cities’ streets this New Year’s Eve, enforcing law and order and restrictions on public gatherings and wearing face masks as infections driven by the fast-spreading Omicron variant surge, he said.

    […]But car-torching took a new step in France when it became a way to mark the arrival of the new year. The practice reportedly began in earnest among youths — often in poor neighbourhoods — in the 1990s in the region around Strasbourg in eastern France.

    It also became a voice of protest during the fiery unrest by despairing youths from housing projects that swept France in the fall of 2005. At the time, police counted 8,810 vehicles burned in less than three weeks.

    BBC – French car-burning returns for New Years’ Eve

    A total of 874 cars have been set alight during New Years Eve celebrations in France, police say.

    However, the interior ministry said the number was much lower than in 2019. Authorities also reported a rise in the number of people stopped and detained.

    A curfew to tackle Covid-19 meant no significant disruption took place this time last year.

    Car burning has effectively become an annual event in French suburbs since riots in 2005 in several cities.

    Some 95,000 police and gendarmes were mobilised during recent New Year’s celebrations, French media report – including 32,000 firefighters and security personnel.

    CNN – 874 cars were torched in France on New Year’s Eve — fewer than in previous year

    A total of 874 vehicles were set ablaze across France on New Year’s Eve as part of a decades-old tradition.

    But with coronavirus-related restrictions in place, that figure is lower than in previous years, according to Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin.

    A total of 1,316 cars were set on fire in 2019, according to a press release issued by the Interior Ministry on Saturday.

    However, more people were taken in for questioning than in previous years, with 441 brought in compared to 376 in 2019.

    In Strasbourg, northeastern France, 31 people were taken in for questioning after vehicles and trash cans were alight.

    Six of those questioned were minors who broke curfew while the rest were linked to alleged arson, according to authorities in Strasbourg who also confirmed that four police officers suffered from minor injuries.

  7. The answer is yes, sodium azide is in the rapid antigen tests. An easy search shows it specifically in the PDF files of Abbott Labs, along with its percentage-per-weight. Yes, it is very harmful. One assumes the amounts in the kits are so miniscule that they are not a threat. One also assumes the five tests sent home with children still do not represent a threat even if all are taken. One asks just how many tests can be taken safely.

  8. GERMANY – Soldier arrested over ominous Covid ultimatum video to government

    The German soldier said the government would face resistance over what he said were ‘anti-constitutional’ policies

    German prosecutors have opened a probe against a Bundeswehr soldier who delivered a video ultimatum to the government demanding it abandon its Covid-19 policies. The man was released after being briefly detained.

    A series of video appeals surfaced on social media on Thursday, where a man dressed in military uniform and calling himself “Sergeant Major Oberauer” demanded the government give up on its “crazy anti-constitutional projects.”

    The self-described sergeant was referring to the German government’s Covid-19 restrictions, as well as compulsory vaccination for medical workers and Bundeswehr soldiers.

    The man then delivered an ultimatum, saying that officials had until Friday to change their ways. “This is a warning,” he said in a minute-long clip, adding that “soldiers would be ready for dialogue until 4pm tomorrow.”
    He also accused politicians of betraying Germany’s Basic Law and demanded “the constitutional order” be restored.

    Authorities swiftly launched a manhunt for the man and, on Thursday evening, police in the southern state of Bavaria said in a statement they arrested a “Bundeswehr soldier” in downtown Munich, who “had publicly called for criminal offenses.” His rank or identity have not been made public.

    The police and public prosecutor said they were “in close contact” with the Bundeswehr which is probing the case. The Ministry of Defense commented that threats against the rule of law are “unacceptable.”

    On Friday, Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said that the Bundeswehr “needs self-aware and upright people, who are firmly committed to our Basic Law.” Those “who do not share this have no place in our Bundeswehr,” she added.
    The suspect was released from custody on Friday, with the prosecutor’s office seeing no grounds to keep him behind bars and did not deem him to be an acute threat to society.

    It is still unclear if the suspect acted alone or had any accomplices among the military or elsewhere. A Telegram channel named ‘Soldaten fuer Grundgesetz’ (Soldiers for the Basic Law) created on December 21 featured a series of posts attributed to the soldier, where he announced that he would “fight the government” until “the constitutional order” was restored.

    Other such posts also called on ordinary citizens to organize “resistance” to “defend their homes … families and children” together with “loyal soldiers.” It is unclear, though, if these posts – as well as other ones featuring other people dressed in military uniform and expressing similar ideas or declaring their support to the suspect – are authentic.

    The German officials have not spoken about any other suspects so far.

  9. the gateway pundit – AUSTRALIA – Shocking Video: Melbourne Man Lights Himself on Fire Over Victoria’s Vaccine Mandates

    A Melbourne man set himself on fire on New Year’s Day in an apparent protest against Victoria’s draconian COVID vaccine mandates.
    Though police were able to extinguish the flames, the man has suffered life-threatening injuries. His current condition is not publicly known.

    The man was on a busy street in Victoria when he pulled out a gas can and began dosing himself in it in front of diners and other witnesses.

    Lydia O’Connor told The Herald Sun that she was dining nearby where the man was and heard him screaming about the vaccine mandates.
    “He poured gas on himself and on his car. It was on purpose,” O’Connor said. “He was screaming about mandates. He was screaming: no vax ID and throwing books.”

    She said that his burning flesh was stuck to her shirt.

    Another witness told the paper that “he was off his face screaming about the mandates” and that his “skin was burning.”Police officers, firefighters and five bystanders helped to put out the blaze. The driver’s side of his vehicle was left blackened and charred.

    The Metro reports that “in November, Victoria introduced sweeping vaccine mandates for several industries, requiring workers to get the jab or show proof of medical exemption if they want to continue working onsite.”

    “It applies in healthcare settings, schools, construction sites, retail and transport as well as several other industries.”

    • Can you send me a screen grab? I don’t know how the firewall works exactly. But I know it saves the site although these kinds of things pop up.

      One reason it can happen, is when a person scrapes text from a site to paste into a comment. Often that will also scrape code which the firewall doesn’t like.

      The workaround for that is to paste the text into a simple text editor first, then cut/paste into a comment here and it should be fine.

      It can happen that when a person uses a VPN proxy server that is being used by malicious actors, all the firewalls share that with each other and blacklist that IP for a while.

      This is becoming so common that I have to change servers all the time or forego some sites from time to time.

      If you can send me a screen grab of what error you get, I might be able to have someone look at it. Or just copy paste the test of the error, but pass it through a txt editor first.

      • LOL you are such a sweetie, believing I know what you are talking about. I was only commenting about Doug Ford, and what an absolute coward he is and what he would do if everyone were to stop sending their kids to school.

        I also commented about the teacher’s union and how they are opposed to pipelines in Canada but are heavily invested in Saudi pipelines as is Mark Carney.

        I was shocked to see such cheeky warning, but not defeated.

        Happy New Year dear Eeyore
