Reader’s Links for September 19, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

Hot off the Press! It is starting to come apart.
“World Health Organization European Advisory Group of Experts in Immunization former Vice President Professor Christian Perronne yesterday said that all vaccinated people must quarantine over the winter months or risk serious illness.
Perronne specializes in tropical pathologies and emerging infectious diseases. He was Chairman of the Specialized Committee on Communicable Diseases of the High Council of Public Health.
Confirming the rapidly deteriorating situation in Israel and the UK, the infectious disease expert stated: “Vaccinated people should be put in quarantine, and should be isolated from the society.”
He went on to say: “Unvaccinated people are not dangerous; vaccinated people are dangerous for others. It’s proven in Israel now – I’m in contact with many physicians in Israel – they’re having big problems, severe cases in the hospitals are among vaccinated people, and in UK also, you have the larger vaccination program and also there are problems.”
The current working group on the COVID-19 pandemic in France was reported to be “utterly panicked” on receipt of the news, fearing pandemonium if it follows the guidance of the experts.
Israeli doctor Kobi Haviv told Channel 13 News: “95% of seriously ill patients are vaccinated. Fully vaccinated people account for 85-90% of hospitalizations. We are opening more and more COVID branches.
The effectiveness of vaccines is declining or disappearing.”

sky news australia – Fauci was ‘up to his neck’ funding coronavirus research in Wuhan

Dr Anthony Fauci was “up to his neck” funding coronavirus research in Wuhan, which “just shows how incredibly stupid” he is, says Sky News host Sharri Markson.

Ms Markson has been investigating Anthony Fauci’s involvement in funding the Wuhan Institute of Virology and discovered his agency “had funded 60 projects at the Wuhan laboratory”.

“Then he wrote a paper where he said gain of function research was worth the risk of a pandemic, and that he had even funded coronavirus research in conjunction with the Chinese military,” Ms Markson said.

Mr Fauci, who has been the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984, apparently stayed silent during Oval Office meetings at the start of the pandemic about the “risky research that was underway at the Wuhan Institute of Virology”.

“He never mentioned that his agency was funding this, and he actually knew a whole lot about it.”

Sharri Markson explores this in a documentary premiering on Monday night, ‘What Really Happened in Wuhan’, including exclusive interviews with former US President Donald Trump and Mike Pompeo.

Watch at 8pm Monday on Sky News Australia.

U.S. will reportedly fly Haitians to Haiti beginning on Sunday amid massive migrant pileup in Del Rio, Texas
    Alex Nitzberg
    3-4 minutes

The Biden administration plans to fly Haitians from the U.S. to Haiti beginning Sunday, an official said, according to the Associated Press.

The outlet reported that the details have not been made final, though the effort will probably entail five to eight flights daily, according to the individual who spoke with the AP on the condition of anonymity.

Thousands of migrants are congregated under and near a bridge in Del Rio, Texas, highlighting the ongoing crisis along America’s southern border.

Val Verde County Judge Lewis Owens noted that the majority of the people present there Friday were Haitian, according to the AP. Trash heaps spread 10 feet wide and at least two individuals have given birth, including a person who tested positive for COVID-19 after being brought to a hospital, he said, according to the outlet.

Sen. Lindsey Graham Says US Will Have To ‘Reinvade’ Afghanistan
    2-3 minutes

On Monday, Sen. Lindsey Graham stunned a BBC reporter when he stated that the United States would be most likely re-invade Afghanistan to continue the War on Terrorism. Graham predicted in an interview with BBC reporter Stephen Sackur that the new Taliban government in Afghanistan might very well serve as a haven for radical Islamic terrorists who despise the United States and might even develop plots to target the United States, just the same as they did before September 11, 2001. Despite assurances from President Joe Biden that an “over the horizon” counterterrorism strategic approach using targeted drone strikes would be practical, he expressed skepticism about the process.

Graham asserted that the Taliban’s goal is to create a haven for Al-Qaeda, which wants to push America out of the Middle East as a whole and target the US because of its way of life. He went on to say that the Americans would be returning to Afghanistan in the same way that they had returned to Syria and Iraq.

However, a skeptical Sackur questioned whether he genuinely believed that the United States would send troops back to Afghanistan in the immediate future. In response to this, Graham stated that they would be required to do so due to the magnitude of the threat. It will be a breeding environment for extreme Islamic behavior. He went on to say that Biden must decide between allowing terrorists to regroup under cover of the Taliban or hitting them before they attack America. On the other hand, People flocked to Twitter in response to Graham’s comments. Americans increasingly believe that these leaders are obtuse fools who like waging endless wars.

Justice Clarence Thomas says Supreme Court will become dangerous if justices decide based on a political agenda
    Carlos Garcia
    2-3 minutes

Justice Clarence Thomas blasted the media and warned that the Supreme Court could become a dangerous institution if some justices decide cases based on their political agenda instead of the law.

Thomas made the comments in a rare public speech at the University of Notre Dame according to the Washington Post.

“I think the media makes it sound as though you are just always going right to your personal preference,” said Thomas, who was appointed to the highest court in 1991 by former President George H.W. Bush.

“So if they think you are anti-abortion or something personally, they think that’s the way you always will come out,” he continued. “They think you’re for this or for that. They think you become like a politician.”

He also warned against the politicization of the Supreme Court by some justices, without specifying to whom he was referring.

“The court was thought to be the least dangerous branch and we may have become the most dangerous,” he said, “And I think that’s problematic.”

France recalls ambassadors from the US and Australia after calling Indo-Pacific pact a ‘stab in the back’
    Carlos Garcia
    3 minutes

The United States, Australia and Britain celebrated a new trilateral pact on Wednesday but France displayed their displeasure with the agreement after calling it a “stab in the back.”

On Friday France recalled ambassadors from the United States and Australia, a dramatic and unprecedented move.

“This exceptional decision is justified by the exceptional seriousness of the announcements made on September 15 by Australia and the United States,” explained French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.

The trilateral pact, called AUKUS, includes the plan to create a nuclear-powered submarine fleet for Australia in order to protect the interests of the three countries in the Indo-Pacific region.

Many observers noted that the agreement was a direct challenge to China’s growing influence.

De Drian, however, angrily derided the pact on behalf of France. Australia had cancelled a contract with France to buy diesel electric submarines from the country in favor of the U.S.-manufactured nuclear submarines.

“It’s a stab in the back. We had established a trusting relationship with Australia, and this trust was betrayed,” said Le Drian on Thursday.

    • Blow for France, opportunity for Macron

Losing a lucrative submarine contract and being tricked by two longtime allies might not bode well for France, but it certainly is an opportunity for its president to tip the scales in his favor ahead of the upcoming elections.

… In an unprecedented response, Macron recalled the French ambassadors to Washington and Canberra for talks in Paris, which is a strong symbolic message, but one that indicates, more than anything else, France’s weakness….

Anti-Americanism is a popular commodity in France. Macron may be able to gain voters from the national camp, and thus, tip the scales in his favor. The curse might turn into a blessing. For him.

  9. Controversial US, UK, Australia deal has ramifications for Middle East
Why does this matter for Israel and the Middle East?

The US, UK, and Australia often work closely on policies in the region. The UK was a key ally of the US in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Australia and the US have been deeply supportive of Israel over the years, and the current UK leader is close to Israel.

France is also an important player in the region, but its policies sometimes diverge from the American role. For instance, France has interests in Lebanon that are not always the same as the US.

France has shown flexibility regarding talks with Hezbollah. In addition, France attended a recent meeting in Baghdad where Turkey, Iran and other key states were present. The US and UK did not come to the meeting.

What this shows is that France wants to play a more robust role in the Middle East at the same time the US and UK may be shifting policies. The US wants to concentrate on near-peer rivals like China. That means big investments in naval power. It also means the US is cutting back on counter-terrorism interests in the Middle East after leaving Afghanistan. Large questions loom about US commitment to eastern Syria and Iraq.

For Israel, this is important because Israel is confronting Iranian threats in places like Syria and Iranian proxy threats that include Hezbollah and also Tehran-backed groups in Yemen and Iraq.

These groups now have advanced Iranian drone technology. A shift in European and French relations with the US and UK in the region could have ramifications for Israel if those states appear keener on dealing with Iran and its militias. That also has ramifications for the nuclear deal talks. It is important for Israel to be aware of these shifting sands to analyze where the next moves may be.

  10. Mossad assassinated Iran’s chief nuke scientist with remote AI gun — report

Iran’s chief military nuclear scientist and the father of its weapons program, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, was assassinated in November 2020 by the Mossad using a remote-controlled artificial intelligence operated sniper machine gun, The New York Times reported on Saturday.

From the start, there has been controversy about how Fakhrizadeh was killed, but The Jerusalem Post can now confirm the accuracy of the Times report regarding the remote-controlled gun….

According to the report, “Iranian agents working for the Mossad had parked a blue Nissan Zamyad pickup truck on the side of the road connecting the town of Absard to the main highway. The spot was on a slight elevation with a view of approaching vehicles. Hidden beneath tarpaulins and decoy construction material in the truck bed was a 7.62-mm sniper machine gun.”

“Around 1 p.m., the hit team received a signal that Mr. Fakhrizadeh, his wife and a team of armed guards in escort cars were about to leave for Absard, where many of Iran’s elite have second homes and vacation villas,” said the report.

Next, the report details how the sniper who took out Fakhrizadeh did so remotely from Israel, over 1,600 kilometers away, since the hit squad had long ago left Iran. [!! WoW!!]

The gun which was used was a special model of a Belgian-made FN MAG machine gun attached to an advanced robotic apparatus. It was smuggled into the country in small pieces over several months because, taken together, all of its components would have weighed around a full ton…

    • Durham Indictment Shows Clinton Likely Worked With Top Google Exec To Fabricate Russia Hoax, Says Google Whistleblower

Special Prosecutor Durham’s indictment alleges a Big Tech executive working for the Clinton campaign fabricated fake Trump-Russia evidence and funneled it to the FBI.

In the bombshell felony indictment made public this week, Special Prosecutor John Durham alleged that agents of the 2016 Clinton campaign knowingly concocted false allegations that President Donald Trump was receiving secret hi-tech communications from the Kremlin-linked Alfa Bank. The Durham indictment further alleged that Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann intentionally spread that hoax to the FBI, Democrat-friendly media and another undisclosed federal agency under false pretenses.

Moreover, the Durham indictment identifies the mastermind of the operation to create spread and spread the Alfa Bank Hoax as a Big Tech executive, who allegedly “exploited” privately-held data of several large tech companies to create a false “narrative” about Trump-Russia collusion. This person may be Eric Schmidt, the former Executive Chairman of Alphabet, the parent company of Google.

The conspiracy theory that Donald J. Trump’s 2016 campaign was secretly communicating with Russia-based Alfa Bank through a secret server has been an obsession of Anti-Trump circles for years, despite being debunked by both the FBI and the Mueller Investigation. Proponents still insist that, despite being repeatedly bound baseless, federal authorities have simply failed to muster the technical expertise to expose the dastardly Russian plot.

However, according to the Durham indictment, the team which initially drafted the white paper outlining the conspiracy theory knew full well that it was nonsense – but disseminated it anyway to craft a “narrative” to trigger a federal investigation and publicly undermine President Trump.

Shortly after the felony indictment for making false statements to the FBI went public, Sussmann’s law firm – Perkins Coie – issued this statement: “In light of the Special Counsel’s action today, Michael Sussmann, who has been on leave from the firm, offered his resignation from the firm in order to focus on his legal defense, and the firm accepted it.”

Perkins Coie represented both the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee in 2016. The firm served a vital role in the fabrication and dissemination of the debunked Steele Dossier – a document which alleged, among other things, that Trump had urinated on Russian prostitutes in a hotel room the where the Obama family stayed.

More recently, Perkins Coie represented Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) in a failed lawsuit against National File, which claimed that Kelly had not dressed as Adolf Hitler and a Perkins Coie attorney argued in front of a judge to stop the upcoming Arizona Election Audit.

The white paper was allegedly the brainchild of one Clinton campaign confidant, who the Durham indictment refers to as Tech Executive-1, who “claimed to have been previously offered a position in government in the event Hillary Clinton won the Presidency” and “exploited his access to non-public data at multiple Internet companies to conduct opposition research concerning Trump … By virtue of his position at Internet Company-1 and other companies, Tech Executive-1 maintained direct or indirect access to, and the ability to provide others access to, large amounts of internet and cybersecurity data, including DNS data,” emphasis added by National File.

The Durham indictment refers to three tech companies which Tech Executive-1 leveraged influence over on behalf of the Clinton campaign:

Internet Company-1 “offers various Internet-related services and products, including Domain Name System (“DNS”) resolution services”; Internet Company-2 “among other things, collected DNS data from various points on the internet”; and Internet Company-3 “received data that had been collected by Internet Company-2 or its parent company, and then used and analyzed that data in order to advise its private sector customers on cybersecurity and business risks.”

It is unclear who the executive is, but Eric Schmidt seems to fit the description. At the time, he was Executive Chairman of Alphabet Inc, the parent company of Google, and an unofficial advisor to the Clinton campaign, who founded start-up The Groundwork to serve as a top-tier tech contractor for the campaign.

Alphabet is the parent company of Google, which owns the largest public DNS service in the world. Alphabet also had an ownership stake in Crowdstrike, which provided cybersecurity services to the DNC and took a leading role in investigating alleged Russian cyber-attacks against the DNC as well as the Clinton campaign.

Emails from 2014 published by Wikileaks revealed that John Podesta, chairman of the Clinton campaign, believed that Schmidt “clearly wants to be head outside advisor”.

National File spoke to Google whistleblower Zach Vorhies to scrutinize the document. “I strongly suspect that ‘Internet Company-1’ mentioned in the Durham indictment is Alphabet, ‘Internet Company-2’ is Google, and ‘Tech Executive-1’ is Eric Schmidt,” said Vorhies. “That would certainly fit the facts of the indictment, but I could be wrong. And, since we are speculating, could ‘Internet Company-3’ be CrowdStrike?”

Vorhies shot to prominence when, as a Google employee, he collected and released 950 pages of documents he says prove Google’s use of an “AI-Censorship” system called “Machine Learning Fairness” that merges Critical Race Theory and artificial intelligence to shape the views of Google users on its various platforms, including YouTube and its eponymous search engine. Vorhies followed up this conversation by speaking out on Twitter:

Another key allegation, and the foundation of the Durham indictment’s sole criminal charge, is that Sussmann lied to then-FBI General Counsel James Baker by claiming not to have been disseminating this information on behalf of any client – but he was billing the Clinton campaign for time spent drafting the white paper, speaking with Tech Executive 1 and pitching the story to reporters.

Sussmann even billed his meeting with Baker to the Clinton campaign, along with the description, “work and communications regarding confidential project.”

Baker later claimed in sworn congressional testimony to not remember whether Sussmann had identified a client he was working for. Sussmann also denied this under oath to Congress in 2017, claiming to have been working on behalf of an unnamed cybersecurity expert. This may have been technically true in 2017 because, after the end of the Clinton campaign in 2016, Sussmann started billing hours worked on the disinformation project to Tech Executive-1.

Sussmann’s testimony took place on December 18th, 2017. Just four days later, Eric Schmidt resigned from his position as the executive chairman of Alphabet Inc. and, to date, nobody has given a detailed explanation why.

Regardless, the Durham indictment features an apparent smoking gun: a contemporaneous note taken by Bill Priestap, who was the assistant director of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division. Priestap’s notes explain that Sussmann explicitly said that he was not doing this on behalf of the Clinton campaign, the DNC or any other of his firm’s clients.

The notes further say that Sussmann identified the source of the Alfa Bank hoax as three concerned citizens in the tech sector – which was an apparent lie, as none of them seem to have had anything to do with the research or drafting of the white paper. According to Durham, the actual authors of the paper were Tech Executive-1, the originator of the hoax, two computer researchers and Sussmann himself.

The Durham indictment alleges that Tech Executive-1 assembled a massive tranche of private data from the technology companies he had influence over, then tasked researchers at a U.S. university to mine it for dirt on Trump. Tech Executive-1 also apparently leveraged his corporate authority to help the same U.S. university with a federal government contract.

Unfortunately for Tech Executive-1, the two researchers came up with nothing to substantiate the original Alfa Bank conspiracy theory and generally agreed that the specific allegations were probably nonsense – specifically, a “red herring” that should be “ignored”.

So the researchers, as the Durham indictment details, suggested by email that they could just fake the documentation to validate the Alfa Bank hoax.

On the same day, “Tech Executive-1 clarified in an email to [them] that the ‘task’ he had given them was ‘indeed broad’”, going on further to seemingly suggest that “the VIPS would be happy” for any evidence – even fake evidence – that would justify “closer examination” of an otherwise “true story”.

After the white paper was drafted, an email from Tech Executive-1 asked the team to review it critically from the lens of a “security expert (NOT a dns expert)”, specifying that the paper did not have to pass muster to an expert in the relevant field – let alone be accurate in the first place – but simply be believable to a cybersecurity expert who didn’t have enough time to actually invest effort into researching DNS security and discovering the glaring flaws in their argument.

The respondents agreed that the white paper did a great job of falsely establishing itself as authoritative:

“A DNS expert would poke several holes to [sic] this hypothesis (primarily around visibility, about which very smartly you do not talk about). That being said, I do not think even the top security (non-DNS) researchers can refute your statements. Nice!” (Emphasis in original.)

Coverage of the Durham indictment has been scant, but a few savvy commentators on the political Right, such as law professor and Epoch Times commentator Hans Mahncke, have flagged it as a bombshell.

In an exclusive interview with National File, the constitutional lawyer and former Green Beret commander Ivan Raiklin – mostly known for his plan from December to contest the 2020 election for Trump – spoke to National File about the severity of Durham’s indictment.

“Anything from John Durham needs to be looked at in the context of his relationships with current and former members of the House and Senate Judiciary Committees, particularly Mike Pence and Lindsey Graham – alongside his relationships with current and former officials in the FBI and DOJ: particularly Comey, Rosenstein, McCabe, Peter Strock, Joe Pientka, and Andrew Weissman,” said Raiklin. “His prosecution path like a ‘sacrificial lamb’ situation like with [former FBI attorney] Kevin Clinesmith where [Sussmann] is just going to get a slap on the wrist to satisfy conservatives who rightly feel betrayed.” Raiklin added:

This could be a prelude to getting [Sussmann] into a plea to cooperate against the others, but I’m not holding my breath.

At the very least, this opens up the Department of Justice and everyone named in this indictment to a lawsuit from anyone indicted as a result of Crossfire Hurricane (the federal spying on the Trump Campaign), including: Donald J. Trump, Roger Stone, Michael Cohen, Carter Page, General Flynn and others.

The real question I’m asking is “Why isn’t he being charged with conspiracy?” That’s what this indictment reads like. Maybe there are other conspirators who could be charged in the future and it’s worth keeping in mind that the statute of limitations for conspiracy doesn’t begin until the conspiracy is over.

National File is continuing to discuss the revelations with tech experts and top lawyers. We will continue our reporting as the story develops.

FDA Rejects Israel’s Booster Vaccine Data over Different Definitions of Serious Covid-19 Illness

…During the meeting, it turned out that Israel and the United States define severe illness differently, which is why the committee members dismissed Pfizer’s pitch that the general population also needed booster shots, and said the company’s own data showed that two shots were sufficient to protect against severe symptoms and hospitalization….

Some members were critical of the absence of data from Pfizer that would show a booster shot is safe for younger people.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention scientist Dr. Sara Oliver told the panel that In Israel, patients with an accelerated respiratory rate and an oxygen level of below 94 percent are considered critical, while the CDC considers only people who require hospitalization to be critical….

Dr. Oliver rejected Pfizer’s attempt to compare the US to Israel, saying Israel has only nine million residents and is less diverse than the US. She also reiterated that Israel’s definition of what counts as a critical case of Covid-19 is broader than the US’ definition, which she suggested was the reason for reports of more serious infections among Israelis with two doses of the vaccine.

Paleontologist Hesham Sallem says prehistoric whale lived on both land and sea and was apparently an accomplished hunter.

…The fossil sheds light on the evolution of whales from herbivore land mammals into carnivorous species that today live exclusively in water. The transition took place over roughly 10 million years…

The newly discovered creature belongs to the family of Protecetids, extinct semi-aquatic whales that lived from 59 to 34 million years ago…. It would have walked on land but also hunted in the water… when they retained four functional limbs….

The new species stands out for its elongated skull and snout that suggest it was an efficient carnivore capable of grasping and chewing its prey, he said. It was about three meters (nine feet long) and weighed around 600 kilograms, according to researchers. It is also believed to have had sharp hearing and sense of smell….

  14. Taliban takeover exposes largest Afghan ethnic group’s surprising Israel link

Fearing reprisal from Islamists, members of the Pashtun ethnic group – many of whom helped former Afghan government – evoke historical theories tracing 15 million-strong community to 10 lost tribes of Israel, cite feeling strong connection to Israel, for which they may get killed….

While the Taliban themselves began as a Pashtun tribal movement, and still holds great power in the Pashtun’s cultural heartland in Afghanistan’s south today, not all members of the ethnicity sympathize with the country’s new rulers….

Since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, the possibility of allowing Afghan refugees into Israel made some headlines when a lawmaker from the left-wing Meretz party, Gabi Lasky, advocated for the government to offer sanctuary to people fleeing Taliban rule.

Lasky had not specifically referred to the Pashtuns and their possible historical roots and says she knew nothing about that. “I thought we should take in a few hundred asylum seekers,” she says. “The Jewish people have suffered from persecutions and were refugees more than anyone else. So we can’t turn a blind eye to their suffering.”
