3. Speaking of Japan: 1.6m Moderna doses withdrawn in Japan over contamination
TOKYO/ NEW YORK — About 1.6 million doses of Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine have been taken out of use in Japan because of contamination reported in some vials, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said early Thursday.
Several vaccination centers have reported that vaccine vials contained foreign matter, according to an announcement from the ministry, which added it will seek to minimize the impact of the withdrawal on the country’s inoculation program.
The ministry said later in the day that the substance that had been mixed in may have been metal. “It’s a substance that reacts to magnets,” a ministry official said. “It could be metal.”
Takeda Pharmaceutical handles distribution of the U.S.-developed Moderna vaccine in Japan.
Nasdaq-listed Moderna confirmed receiving “several complaints of particulate matter” in vaccine vials distributed in Japan but said it had found “no safety or efficacy issues” related to these reports.
(That seems like a good public health policy.)
Seeking a break from the wildfire smoke at home in Falkland, Kate Stein and her kids were spending the day with her parents in Enderby on Monday when her son fell off his skateboard.
A few hours later, the 13-year-old boy’s wrist was still sore.
“Going to the ER seemed drastic,” she said, “but I thought maybe we could get it checked at the walk-in clinic.”
When Stein called the Enderby Medical Clinic to see if the doctor had space, the receptionist said he did, but then asked if her son had been vaccinated. After hearing the boy hadn’t been, she was told to take him to the emergency room at Shuswap Lake General Hospital in neighbouring Salmon Arm.
“I was flabbergasted,” she said. “The doctor wouldn’t see us. He was only accepting fully vaccinated patients.”
Stein said she isn’t opposed to vaccination.
“Both my husband and I are fully vaccinated. But my son just turned 13 and we didn’t want to rush into it. We’re still figuring it out.”
(Maybe events will find a way for them to refuse whatever service they do when that doctor needs it.)
5. Sky News actually reports on Joe Biden instead of covering for him. Strongly reccomend watching all of this video. Its more than just dumping on Senile-Joe. It is exposing the massive threat that Joe’s policies, either by incompetence or malice, has made muslim terrorists capable of in the whole region and probably around the world. If I was India I would seriously consider taking the Robert Mitchum option to the threat on the Afghan border. Hopefully they have seen the excellent movie, Kesari. It might offer a clue except now they have US weapons.
