Reader’s Links for August 3, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Newly Released Documents Suggest Coercion in the George Floyd Case

On July 29, District Court Judge Peter Cahill ordered that a key exhibit requested by the attorneys for former Minneapolis police officer Tou Thao be made publicly accessible. What the exhibit reveals would be headline news in any other case, but when politics overwhelms science, evidence of perfidy is routinely ignored or censored.

Although I have written about Thao’s case earlier, a quick summary might be in order. Thao was one of the four Minneapolis police officers involved in the arrest of George Floyd on May 25, 2020. The state of Minnesota has charged Thao with two counts of aiding and abetting — one for second-degree murder, the other for second-degree manslaughter. His role in the arrest was to prevent an unruly crowd from attacking his fellow officers as they struggled to subdue George Floyd. For this “crime” he faces as many as 40 years in prison, plus federal charges for civil rights violations.

NBC news contacted health agencies in 50 states and the District of Columbia to collect information on breakthrough cases, citing a lack of comprehensive data available from the CDC.

Data collected in 38 states showed more than 125,000 fully vaccinated Americans tested positive for COVID and 1,400 died.

This conflicts with CDC data published on July 26. Research by NBC News indicates the number who have been hospitalized or died passed 7,300 in just 30 states providing data.

The total of breakthrough cases is likely much higher than 125,683, as 9 states including Pennsylvania and Missouri, did not provide information, while 11 states did not provide death and hospitalization totals. four states gave death and hospitalization but not total cases.

In addition vaccinated adults who had breakthrough cases but showed no symptoms, could be missing from the data altogether, officials told NBC.

Utah, where full data was published, breakthrough cases accelerated in the past 2 months.

In Virginia, total breakthrough cases resulting in death from COVID increased from 17 in mid-July to 42 on July 30.

In Oklahoma, breakthrough cases are up 67%.

The vaccine focuses on the spike protein whereas natural immunity focuses on the entire virus. Natural immunity-with a more diverse array of antibodies and T-cell receptors-will provide better protection overall as it has more targets in which to attack the virus, whereas vaccine-derived immunity only focuses on one portion of the virus, in this case, the spike protein. Once that portion of the virus has mutated sufficiently, the vaccine is no longer effective.
