Reader’s Links for July 27, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. I’ve been so busy with house upkeep, inside and out, I just opened my email box before shutting down for the night.

As usual, loads of new and important info on this website. I can’t wait to read them all.

In the meantime, a change of pace: CHINA and intentional flooding. The CCP opens its filled-to-capacity water reservoirs without warning the citizenry nor providing them any assistance in the aftermath.

“There were a lot more vaccinated passengers coming into Canada than we had originally anticipated,” she says. “Because of that, and because we did receive lots of feedback from our passengers, we talked to Transport Canada, we talked to CBSA and the Public Health Authority of Canada and the other airports, and we are changing the approach that we are using. Where now everybody will come through in the same way.”

Is it my imagination or is there a connection here? Does anyone find it odd that the world’s governments are forcing everyone to wear masks knowing full well that masks are the preferred accessory for bank robbers, rapists, murderers, Islamic terrorists, and Antifa? Are they helping the bad guys on purpose?

How are they going to catch the guy in this video with a hoodie and a mask? Is this on direct orders from the People’s Republic of China and their Iranian and North Korean friends? Is this about making America look so bad that no one fortunate enough to live in an orderly one-party system would be foolish enough to want to be like them with their inefficient so-called “democracy” and their soaring crime rates and their homelessness and their racism…? Living in a socialist dictatorship is like winning the lottery…

All specific controversies are downstream of a much broader, Smithian and Hayekian problem: the belief that somebody, somewhere, knows better how to arrange the pieces of humanity’s chessboard. You don’t. Believing so is the mind of a tyrant, but somehow we celebrate them for their brilliance and think them enlightened when they propose to centrally plan our lives and our economies.

Trump is right about the infrastructure bills

    Image: AIR.TV screen grab

Former President Trump emailed a statement Monday on the ongoing negotiations in Congress – such as they are – over the package of infrastructure projects sought by the Biden administration and congressional Democrats.

Trump minced no words in his criticism of the effort, which at this point involves a 22-person bipartisan “gang,” and a commitment from President Biden to demand that his entire program be adopted as the price of his signature on any bipartisan agreement.

Trending: Letter to rich white parents: Keep your kids out of Ivy League schools to make room for POC … or else

The total infrastructure package weighs in at about $3.5 trillion according to standard media reporting.

Trump’s advice for Republicans was terse: “Senate Republicans are being absolutely savaged by Democrats on the so-called ‘bipartisan’ infrastructure bill. Mitch McConnell and his small group of RINOs wants nothing more than to get a deal done at any cost to prove that he can work with the Radical Left Democrats. It is so important to him that he is agreeing to almost anything. Don’t do the infrastructure deal, wait until after we get proper election results in 2022 or otherwise, and regain a strong negotiating stance. Republicans, don’t let the Radical Left play you for weak fools and losers!?”

    • ctv news – Quebec offers extra dose to travellers whose vaccination status isn’t recognized

MONTREAL — Quebec is offering an extra dose of mRNA vaccine to people who want to travel to countries that don’t recognize their vaccination status.

A third dose is being made available because some countries don’t consider people fully vaccinated if they have received a mix of COVID-19 vaccines, the Health Department said Monday.

[…]A spokesman for the Health Department said earlier on Monday an additional dose doesn’t necessarily provide more protection compared with two doses, adding the safety of receiving three doses is unclear.

[…]The Health Department says there is no international consensus on what constitutes a fully vaccinated person, adding that the federal government is working to have mixed vaccinations or shots of AstraZeneca or Covishield more widely recognized internationally.

[…]“It’s kind of a conflict between the bureaucratic and the scientific,” Oughton said. “Until such time, people in that situation are stuck between the bureaucratic and the scientific where if they want to travel, they may have to go get a second dose of an approved two-dose vaccine to be fully immunized.”

[…]Meanwhile, Premier Francois Legault announced on Monday his government is relaxing more rules for bars, nightclubs, festivals and entertainment venues.

Legault said on Twitter that beginning Sunday, bars and nightclubs can serve alcohol for an extra hour, until 1 a.m., and they must close by 2 a.m. Festivals will be able to host a maximum of 15,000 people outside – up from 5,000. Indoor venues will be permitted to welcome a maximum of 7,500 people seated indoors, up from 3,500. Dancing, however, remains prohibited.

Quebec’s public health institute says 83.5 per cent of residents aged 12 and up have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 62.5 per cent are considered adequately vaccinated.

President Joe Biden said he is weighing a requirement for federal workers to get vaccinated as the highly contagious delta variant spreads throughout the U.S.

A Covid-19 vaccine mandate for federal workers is “under consideration,” Biden told reporters on Tuesday after visiting the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in Virginia.

The president’s comments reflect the heightened concern among U.S. public health officials about the delta variant.

He made the remarks after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tightened mask guidance, advising that fully vaccinated individuals cover their faces indoors in places where the virus is rapidly spreading.

Thousands descended on Sydney, and other capitals, last Saturday to protest against the lockdowns.

“The people that turned up to that rally are mostly people that don’t believe in COVID or don’t believe in vaccines or don’t believe in the government’s response,” Mr Elliott told Sky News.

“They’re hardly likely to get tested unless they are very ill which is very disappointing.”

He said he was “amazed” to see Australian and British newspapers providing “almost no” reporting on the matter.

“People who physically attacked people who criticised Islam were once seen as the problem … but in Britain, in much of the English-speaking world, it is now the critic of Islam who is the villain,” Mr Bolt said.

Communist China is adding another element to its toolbox of surveilling and controlling its population. Already known as the country in the world with the most pervasive surveillance and social credit system, China has now created a digital currency, the digital renminbi or yuan — also known as Digital Currency Electronic Payment (DCEP) — to ensure that hardly any transaction goes unregistered.

Unlike cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, which are not issued by governments and therefore cannot be used as means of payment in most daily transactions, China’s digital currency is issued and controlled by China’s central bank.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the currency “is expected to give China’s government vast new tools to monitor both its economy and its people. By design, the digital yuan will negate one of bitcoin’s major draws: anonymity for the user.”

After House Speaker Nancy Pelosi kicked two Republicans off the House investigation of the January 6 riot at the Capitol, the Democrats and their media flaks went into high gear to obfuscate Pelosi’s transparently partisan motive to ensure the investigation reaches the preordained conclusion: that Donald Trump incited an “insurrection” aimed at undoing the election results. In response to Pelosi’s obvious attempt to get the fix in, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California pulled all the Republicans from the commission (except for Rhino Liz Cheney).

As always, the Dems’ bare-knuckled “any means necessary” tactics are camouflaged with sophistries, logical fallacies, and begged questions presented as facts.

Voters in the nation’s capital made history by electing a convicted murderer who is still behind bars for his crime to an Advisory Neighborhood Commission, or ANC, which counsels the local government on neighborhood issues such as garbage collection, police patrols, liquor licenses, zoning, and parking.

Joel Caston, 44, has been imprisoned for 26 years following a first-degree murder conviction in the August 14, 1994 killing of 18-year-old Rafiq Washington. Victim and shooter knew each other and there was some unspecified animus between them that cannot easily be divined from online court records. Caston, who was elected June 15, will reportedly be liberated from the D.C. Central Detention Facility this year or next.

Democrats and their media spent the past week warning that the country would have to go back to pandemic lockdowns and that it was all the fault of Republicans for refusing to get vaccinated.

The Biden White House blamed “conservative outlets” on Facebook for spreading “misinformation” and demanded more censorship. #FOXNewsKills trended on Twitter.

The day after Biden’s CNN town hall, the largest healthcare union in the country took to the streets of Manhattan against vaccine mandates. SEIU union activists, a fixture at every Democrat rally and leftist events, protested outside New York-Presbyterian hospital which had ordered all of its employees to be vaccinated.

“We believe that our members are best equipped to make the healthcare decisions that are right for their bodies ,” SEIU 1199’s communications director Cara Noel argued.

Former California Sen. Barbara Boxer was attacked and robbed of her cell phone Monday in Oakland, but anyone who relies on CNN or MSNBC’s primetime lineups for news was left in the dark about the stunning attack.

The liberal media has been criticized recently for downplaying or ignoring a spike in violent crimes in America’s largest cities. Boxer being robbed appears to be the latest example, as CNN and MSNBC both ignored the breaking news during primetime as details unfolded, according to a Grabien Media search of transcripts.

  16. Montclair: COVID sticker mandate set to take effect for maskless city employees

    2 minutes

MONTCLAIR, Calif. (KABC) — Starting Monday in Montclair, city workers who choose not to wear a mask must wear stickers that prove they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The city manager says the requirement is in line with California Division of Occupational Safety and Health rules, but there has been some pushback on the new requirement.

Some of the city’s leaders want Montclair to hold off on mandating the vaccine over concerns that it might violate employees’ privacy rights.

Mayor Javier “John” Dutrey says the requirement falls in line with recommendations from the California Department of Public Health and Cal/OSHA. Both agencies require workplaces to document proof of an employee’s vaccine status.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also recommends that employers provide stickers to fully vaccinated employees, to be worn on their work badges.

    Margot Cleveland
    11-14 minutes

“This man was elected president of the United States of America,” Joe Biden declared of Al Gore during a 2013 campaign event when introducing George W. Bush’s Democrat opponent.

“There’s no doubt that the Russians did interfere in the election, and I think the interference, although not yet quantified, if fully investigated would show that Trump didn’t actually win the election in 2016,” former President Jimmy Carter proclaimed during a 2019 panel discussion sponsored by his nonprofit organization.

“He knows he’s an illegitimate president,” Hillary Clinton seethed when asked about Donald Trump during a CBS interview nearly two years ago, later telling the audience the election was stolen from her.

“Rush thought we won, and so do I,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News following radio personality Rush Limbaugh’s death in February 2021, later calling the contest “the fraudulent presidential election of 2020.”

Three different presidential elections and four different presidential candidates all claimed the man inaugurated commander-in-chief stole the election. Yet while tolerating claims that Clinton and Gore actually won the White House, the corrupt media immediately co-opted the Nazi comparison Joe Biden deployed in response to Trump’s claims of fraud, branding his charges “The Big Lie.”

The FBI’s Whitmer Kidnapping Case Looks Like A Potemkin Terror Plot
    Max Morton
    8-10 minutes

Over the past few weeks, there has been a slew of reporting on the alleged plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, specifically, the fact that the FBI seems to have played a far more considerable role in it than had previously been reported. BuzzFeed News produced an exposé on the case detailing how the FBI used 12 informants and undercover FBI agents to infiltrate the Wolverine Watchmen militia group, which prosecutors allege planned to kidnap Whitmer in the run-up to the 2020 national elections.

The problem with the case is that it appears the FBI, through informants and undercover agents, hatched the kidnapping plot, served in the key leadership positions of the militia group, trained the militia members in military tactics, actively recruited participants, and funded much of the militia’s activities. Then, when various members of the Watchman militia became uncomfortable with the kidnapping plot, with several quitting, the FBI’s primary informant pushed the plot along, eventually becoming the militia group’s leader.
The Primary Informant’s Story Doesn’t Add Up

The primary informant, known only as Dan, has been identified in court documents as a former U.S. Army Iraq War veteran. Dan reportedly volunteered to the FBI after stumbling across the Wolverine Watchman group on Facebook.
