Reader’s Links for May 21, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  2. Biden IRS plan an ‘old trick’ on ‘steroids’: Grover Norquist
IRS could be doubled (public job creation) and access to Americans’ bank accounts for snooping will be granted. Didn’t Justin Trudeau do that and is he still doing it?

  3. The U.S. Agriculture Department said on Friday it will start erasing an estimated $4 billion dollars in debt to minority farmers in June, as it seeks to address racial discrimination.

The Biden administration hopes to make right with Black and other minority farmers, who for decades have lost farmland in legal disputes and been denied loans and government assistance.

The American Rescue Plan Act, which became law in March, directed the USDA to pay off all farm debt held by “socially disadvantaged” minority farmers. It faced opposition from some white farmers and concern from banks.[L1N2KF3CT]

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said the payments are needed because minority farmers did not have full access to USDA programs over the last 100 years.

“Chances are pretty good that you weren’t able to be competitive with white farmers, in purchasing land and purchasing equipment, having your crop planted at the right time,” he said in an interview.

“In some cases, those policies were designed specifically to remove socially disadvantaged farmers from their land.”

  4. Note: Babylon Bee

CHICAGO, IL—Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot was seen running for her life this afternoon. Observers said that Lightfoot exploded into a frantic sprint after she saw Thomas Sowell approaching to interview her. According to sources, Lightfoot had recently said she “would only grant one-on-one interviews to journalists of color.” Moments later Thomas Sowell crashed through a nearby wall in a fashion reminiscent of the Kool-Aid Man. Lightfoot, living up to her name, went into a mad dash and has not been seen since.

People at the scene said Sowell brushed the drywall dust off of his corduroy jacket and said, “It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.” He shrugged and most of the people present nodded in agreement. “Well, guess I’ll go,” he said. He then burst through another unbroken portion of wall and left.

Lightfoot was last seen on a traffic camera charging down Canal Street like a Japanese man in a Godzilla film.

  5. Algeria: after gang rape, teachers flee en masse Bordj Badji Mokhtar

Algeria : Following the rapes of teachers in their official accommodation, dozens of their colleagues left the region fleeing the climate of terror, the authorities being unable to ensure their safety, and for fear of reprisals from the families of their torturers.

It is the rout of the teachers of the regions of the South of Algeria, particularly for those of the city of Bordj Badji Mokhtar following the horrible rape of 9 teachers, in the night of May 17 to 18, in their place of official residence. An ordeal that the residents endured for 2 hours without any authority coming to their aid.

  6. CBC – ASSOCIATED PRESS – Jeffrey Epstein prison guards admit to falsifying records, make deal to avoid jail time

Tova Noel, Michael Thomas accused of browsing internet during financier’s suicide

The two Bureau of Prisons workers tasked with guarding Jeffrey Epstein the night he killed himself in a New York jail have admitted they falsified records, but they will skirt any time behind bars under a deal with federal prosecutors, authorities said Friday.

The prison workers, Tova Noel and Michael Thomas, were accused of sleeping and browsing the internet instead of monitoring Epstein the night he took his own life in August 2019.

They were charged with lying on prison records to make it seem as though they had made required checks on Epstein before he was found in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan on Aug. 10. New York City’s medical examiner ruled his death a suicide.

[…]As part of the deal with prosecutors, Noel and Thomas will enter into a deferred prosecution agreement with the Justice Department and will serve no time behind bars, according to a letter from federal prosecutors that was filed in court papers Friday. They would instead be subjected to supervised release, would be required to complete 100 hours of community service and would be required to fully cooperate with an ongoing probe by the Justice Department’s inspector general, it says.

The two have “admitted that they ‘willfully and knowingly completed materially false count and round slips regarding required counts and rounds”‘ in the housing unit where Epstein was being held, the letter says.

The deal would need to be approved by a judge, which could come as soon as next week.
