Reader’s Links for January 15, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

      • @Sassy, have you heard of Mrs. Hoyt?

This is asymmetric warfare, and they prepared the ground for it over a long period of time. Don’t just think about this in terms of brass and beans, but in terms of the social connections that actually make a community and a nation. If you could kill every Marxist on the planet, you have still lost if those social connections are broken beyond repair. Give up who you have to, but fight like hell for those you can save. If someone you know sees the light at some point, don’t say, “I told you so.” Say that you’re sorry they had to find out the truth in so difficult a manner. Rebuild, educate, branch out, and create converts to the American cause. You are a missionary. Some of you have practice in this. Speak up, loudly and boldly. You will be despised. They will try to destroy your life and maybe kill you. If you want there to be an America left to save, that is the price you will have to pay. It’s the price we will all have to pay.

A nice little summary of what we all know.

Several years ago, I wanted to throw out everything made in China until I did just the kitchen inventory. Using a 10x magnifier to check for the oft almost invisible “Made in China” I found that I would have to discard some 60%. Luckily the whitegoods were not. Unfortunately the family accountant jumped in and said: “No! So that now we can only replace the damaged or faulty ones… I guess one chipped plate demands that we have to buy another non China set. Then I saw the prices 🙁 What is that expression? The west hoisted by its own petard? You have to give then credit for how well they saw through us.

    • Pick one class of item to boycott: clothes, cars, shoes, kitchen. SAS still makes shoes in Texas. They last at least three years and are repairable. I ask SAS for parts and they send me without charge. Think of it as an investment.
Hope this helps. You can also get custom-made shoes and boots in Mexico (after COVID).

      • Thank you!
We buy nothing now that is overtly Chinese but now we are finding Chinese food and clothing slipping in via other countries who purchase them in bulk then repackage. To read the true source almost requires a 20x glass
Some are honest and say: “made locally from imported ingredients”. But not all and even then it can be from anywhere. I also have an aversion to products from any muslim country(Egypt excepted) and so dried apricots and dates are becoming rarer. Life is so hard : )

  3. For anyone who can bear to listen here’s another video on the vaccines, at the beginning she’s talking about how the vaccines are made, later on in the video, how they act on the body:

  4. Info from Bloomberg:

“…A brief recap of Biden’s proposal is below:

Direct payments of $1,400, on top of the $600 approved in December
$400 per week in supplementary unemployment benefits through September
$350 billion for state and local governments
Raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour
$130 billion to help schools reopen
$160 billion in funding for a national program of vaccination, testing and other coronavirus containment efforts
$30 billion for rental and small-landlord support
    $25 billion for childcare providers
    Expanded food assistance
    Expanded child tax credits
    Expanded medical and family leave
Of course, since none of the above addresses the primary reason for the destruction of the US middle class, namely the Fed and its moneyprinting abilities, nothing proposed by Biden will have any effect on US society besides a brief sugar high. Once that wears off, the polarization, the wealth and income divide, and the class hatred, will be even worse.

There were no surprise in what Biden said after all of it was purposefully leaked in advance, and Eminis dropped 10 points, drifting near session lows after the speech…”

The moral of the story becomes protect yourself from the devaluation of fiat currency by converting some of what you have in hard assets. Physical gold or silver, other commodities will work, too. And it is not only the USD. All currencies are affected.

  5. Seven minute vid on the information battle space. It describes how social media weaponized itself, and has been weaponized by others.

It is clearly evolving faster than we are. There should be set aside every day some sort of digital cleansing spa. No electronics. Human Faraday. Walk and breathe. Write something on a piece of paper. Stare at a leaf instead of a screen. Radical, I know. Say hello to a stranger just to bust their bubble.

  6. Denmark’s Hardline Former Immigration Minister Facing Impeachment Trial Over Child Brides (sputniknews, Jan 15, 2021)

“The reason for Inger Støjberg’s looming impeachment is her 2016 decision to forcibly separate all married asylum seekers, if one of spouses was below the age of 18. Støjberg justified this step by saying it protected underage girls, yet it was found to be illegal.

Inger Støjberg, former Danish immigration minister and deputy leader of the liberal-conservative Venstre party, is facing impeachment from the legislature after a cross-party majority (including her fellow Venstre members) backed the move, Danish Radio reported.

The impeachment trial is a special court that tries ministers and officials charged with illegally executing their duties.

The reason for the impeachment is her 2016 decision to forcibly separate all married asylum seekers, without individual case assessment, if one of spouses was under the age of 18. The order was found to be illegal, which she had been reportedly made aware of. A special commission assigned to look into the situation was highly critical of Støjberg’s actions, concluding that she not only overstepped her duties, but misled the parliament as well.

In her defence, Støjberg said that she wanted to step up the protection of underage girls, so-called child brides at Danish refugee accommodation.

All of the parties on the left wing, along with the right-wing Conservatives and Liberal Alliance, also back the impeachment trial. Surprisingly, even her own Venstre party voted in favour, leaving only the populist Danish People’s Party and the New Right in opposition.

“I cannot live with the accusations that the Venstre party does not hold dear to law and order,” Venstre leader Jakob Ellemann-Jensen said.

In response, Støjberg lashed out at Ellemann-Jensen in a culmination of a long-brewing conflict between the two.

“I am disappointed that it is my own party leader who is inviting the rest of parliament to initiate an impeachment trial against me”, Støjberg said.
Rumour has it that Støjberg may be considering a party switch, with both the Danish People’s Party and the New Right named as likely contenders for the divisive, yet highly popular politician.

Apart from her hardline immigration politics, Støjberg is known for her publicity stunts, which her opponents condemn as populist. Among others, she published anti-refugee advertisements in Lebanese newspapers, posted a picture of a celebration with cake after passing a 50th law restricting immigration, and authorised a law enabling Danish authorities to confiscate valuable items from asylum seekers.

The most recent instance of Støjberg drawing flak from her peers was when she used the phrase “drain the swamp” associated with US President Donald Trump, who is a highly unpopular figure in Danish politics.

According to Danish law, Støjberg could face anything between a fine and a prison sentence of up to ten years, should the impeachment trial find her guilty.

However, the incumbent Social Democratic government also risks being subjected to a Supreme Court trial – in connection with the so-called Minkgate. In the autumn, the government ordered a blanket cull of the country’s all 15 million farmed mink in a bid to stop a mutated variant of the coronavirus from spreading. This was later found illegal and unconstitutional.”

    • And let’s be clear. The vaccine does not confer immunity. It was never meant to, nor did they say it would. It just mitigates the worst symptoms. Maybe. In some people. So any justification for travel restrictions is pure bullshit.

  7. France to expel delivery man refusing Kosher orders (abcnews, Jan 14, 2021)

“A court in eastern France convicted a delivery driver of anti-Semitic discrimination an Thursday for refusing to take orders for kosher food, and Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said the Algerian man would be deported after he completes his prison sentence.

The conviction in the city of Strasbourg came two days after a regional Jewish institution, the Israelite Consistory of the Bas-Rhin region, said two kosher restaurants had reported that drivers working for Deliveroo refused to handle their food because they didn’t want to deliver to Jews.

The group and restaurants filed a legal complaint, the consistory said Tuesday, denouncing what it called “openly anti-Semitic discrimination.” Only one deliverer was ultimately involved in the court action.

The interior minister tweeted that the Algerian man, who was in France illegally, had been convicted and handed a four-month prison sentence.

“I decided to expel from the national territory the food ‘deliverer’…who said he did not want to handle deliveries to Jewish clients,” Darmanin wrote.

The Strasbourg prosecutor’s office had opened an investigation into “discrimination based on ethnic origin in the framework of providing a service,” according to a prosecutor’s aide.

Deliveroo spokesman Damien Steffan said Tuesday on local broadcaster France Bleu that the company thinks “anti-Semitic acts, like all racist or discriminatory acts of all kinds, are unacceptable.” Deliveroo has around 14,000 drivers in France and has seen business grow considerably during the coronavirus pandemic.

The case drew the national government’s attention amid long-running efforts to fight anti-Semitism and other forms of discrimination. France’s minister for citizenship issues, Marlene Schiappa, met Tuesday with the management of Deliveroo France.”

  8. Afghan intel agency says it killed council member in battle (abcnews, Jan 14, 2021)

“Afghan forces killed a provincial council member suspected of ties with the Taliban during a gunbattle in western Ghor province, the Afghan intelligence service said late Thursday.

The fighting near the provincial capital of Faroz Koh also killed one officer and wounded another, according to a statement by the National Directorate for Security.

It accused the council member, Hazatullah Beg, of masterminding the killing of another council member as well as an Afghan journalist and human rights activist in Ghor.

It wasn’t immediately clear when the gunbattle between Beg and his men on one side and the Afghan agents on the other took place. Beg was asked to surrender during the fighting but refused, the agency said, adding that he had links to the Taliban in the province.

Afghan journalist and activist Bismillah Adil Aimaq was shot and killed on Jan. 1 in Ghor. He was on the road, returning home to Feroz Koh from visiting family in a nearby village when gunmen opened fire at his car. Aimaq was the fifth journalist to be killed in the war-ravaged country in the past two months. The Taliban insisted they were in no way connected with the shooting.

Ghor deputy council chief Abdul Rahman Atshan was killed in mid-December in an attack in the province that also wounded another council member and their driver when a sticky bomb was attached to their vehicle. No one claimed responsibility for the attack.

The violence comes as the Taliban and Afghan government negotiators earlier this month resumed peace talks in Qatar. However, the negotiations were off to a slow start as the insurgents continue to keep up their attacks on Afghan government forces while keeping their promise not to attack U.S. and NATO troops.

The stop-and-go talks are aimed at ending decades of relentless conflict. Frustration and fear have grown over the recent spike in violence and both sides blame one another.

There has also been growing doubt lately over a U.S.-Taliban deal brokered by outgoing President Donald Trump’s administration. That accord was signed last February. Under the deal, an accelerated withdrawal of U.S. troops ordered by Trump means that just 2,500 American soldiers will still be in Afghanistan when President-elect Joe Biden takes office on Jan. 20.”

I was getting ready to completely ignore this video until the General showed up and started speaking. Holy cow! He’s specifically saying that Special Forces were mixed with Antifa at the Capital riots and that they stole Nancy’s laptop and that she’s freaking out about it and trying to get Trump before he can get her. Honestly, I thought it had to be pure BS but then General Mcinerney appeared and if you don’t think he’s credible then you don’t believe anybody. What the heck are Special Forces and Antifa doing at a so-called “right wing” pro-Trump demonstration? I thought it was supposed to be Trump-supporters doing all the action. Is this as big as I think it is…? Wouldn’t that be amusing if it turned out that Nancy orchestrated the riot or was working with Antifa or something equally egregious? Most amusing…:)

Is Trump secretly getting ready to truly release the Kraken?

    • Ok, so PT knew what was coming. He and his people sat down and devised a plan to mix in Special Ops with Antifa for the specific objective of getting their hands on Pelosi’s laptop. Why not just use the intelligence machinery to get Pelosi’s info “…any way to Tuesday…” or whatever Schumer said? Because PT knows the whole Intelligence apparatus is rotten and untrustworthy, and the whole plan would fail if Pelosi were tipped off. So, if this is the real deal, look out. And I would not put it past PT and his loyal lot to pull something off.

    • Here is the whole interview:

The thing is, this would have to be an extra-legal action against Pelosi. If this went to court, then nothing on that laptop would be admissible as it was not taken with a warrant.

Now we all should know, that intel and politics are SO corrupt that there is no way they could have gotten a laptop without Pelosi being so tipped off about it so far in advance she would have had time to get a whole new one with pictures of nothing but puppies on it for them to take and examine.

So they would have to do something like this.

But then how to they USE any information on it?

This corruption in the intel services, especially FBI perhaps, can be read about in the most superb book, Ghost, by Fred Burton. He details how FBI tipped off the president, at the time I think it was Clinton, and Clinton tipped off Pakistan every time someone tried to grab a major league terrorist.

Its a great read and highly instructive about how all these agencies work.

Burton was an officer with the DSS and now is a VP at STRATFOR.

  10. Around One-Third of Belgian Residents Are Now Foreign Nationals, or Have Migrant Backgrounds (breitbart, Jan 15, 2021)

“Around one-third of Belgium’s resident population are either foreign nationals or from migration backgrounds, according to the country’s statistical agency Statbel.

According to the figures to January 1st, 2020, just over two-thirds of Belgium’s population, or 67.9 per cent, are native Belgians, according to the Statsbel figures, representing 7,806,078 people.

Almost one-in-five, 19.7 per cent, of the population are Belgians of migrant background, which is classified as those with one or two relatives who are either foreign nationals or are foreign nationals who have received Belgian citizenship. More than one-in-ten, 12.4 per cent, are foreign nationals, broadcaster RTL reported this week.

The figures revealed a large change from 2010 when the native Belgian population was 74.3 per cent and the foreign and migrant-background population just over a quarter.

The Belgian capital-region of Brussels has the largest share of residents of foreign nationality with 35.3 per cent, compared to Flanders, which has a foreign population of 9.3 per cent.

The figures also reveal that the younger demographics have larger shares of foreign nationals and migrant-background residents. Native Belgians account for just 54.3 per cent of those under 17-years-old, while they account for 87.3 per cent of those above the age of 65.

According to the statistics, the most common foreign nationality in Belgian is Moroccans, followed by Italians, French, Dutch, and Turks.

The statistics are similar to other western European countries that have also seen radical demographic shifts in recent decades.

In Germany, a quarter of the population come from migrant backgrounds, according to a report released in July. While in Western Germany, nearly half of the children under six years old are from migrant backgrounds.

Belgium’s other neighbour, France, has also released data showing the demographic shift in areas of the country. Data released last year by France Stratégie, a group affiliated with the French Prime Minister’s Office, showed huge growth of migrant-background children in various urban areas.

For example, Greater Paris saw its share of migrant children rise from 6.5 per cent in 1968 to 36.6 per cent in 2015. In the Paris suburb of Clichy-sous-Bois, 83 per cent of the children came from non-European backgrounds in 2015.”

  11. Turkish Official Claims Eastern Mediterranean Part of Turkey’s ‘Blue Homeland’ (breitbart, Jan 15, 2021)

“Turkish government communications director Fahrettin Altun claimed the eastern Mediterranean Sea as part of his country’s “Blue Homeland”, as tensions remain high in the region.

Altun said on Thursday that some countries had been ramping up tensions in the area and that Turkey “will never give up our rights and interests” while adding that the country did not want to abandon a diplomatic approach.

He told Turkish radio that the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea is an area to which Turkey “has had a strong claim throughout history” and that the country still had such claims to a “Blue Homeland” today, Greek newspaper I Kathimerini reports.

The Turks are of course not native to the region, however, being a Central Asian people who colonised Asia Minor and a part of Europe after a series of wars of conquest.

The concept of the Blue Homeland was developed by Turkish admiral Cem Gurdeniz over a decade ago and refers to the maritime region near Turkey, which includes areas that Greece considers part of its territory in the Mediterranean and the Aegean seas.

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has also embraced the Blue Homeland doctrine and backed a maritime agreement with Libya which Greece has labelled as illegal.

The doctrine also manifested itself last year when the Turkish government sent the research vessel Oruc Reis into the Mediterranean to conduct a seismic study to find natural resources in territory Greece claims is part of its exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

Turkey also sends warships to prevent Cyprus from conducting similar research in its waters, deeming it not to be the interests of the Turkish population in the island’s north, which became an unrecognised Turkish puppet state following an invasion in 1974.

Tensions between Turkey and several European Union member-states such as Greece, France, and Cyprus remain high, but earlier this week Turkey claimed that it wanted to repair the damaged relationship with the European Union.

The turnaround in tone comes a month after NATO head Jens Stoltenberg called for more dialogue between EU member-states and “Western” Turkey, as several members of the bloc had pushed for sanctions and possibly dissolving the customs union between the EU and Turkey.

The Islamist-led country is, like Greece, a member of the NATO alliance.”

    • Thank you!
Long time since I read that and I had totally forgotten about it unlike the JS Bach largo from the Slaughterhouse Five movie which still rivets my mind.

  12. Trump Signs Memo to Secure Government-Backed Research and Development Against Foreign Interference

President Donald Trump on Thursday signed a presidential memorandum that seeks to secure U.S. government-supported research and development (R&D) against interference and exploitation by foreign powers.

Trump’s action seeks to enhance protections for United States R&D efforts, given their open and collaborative nature, and in light of their importance to national security and in keeping the country economically competitive, the White House Press Secretary said in a statement.

The memorandum “ensures that Government-supported research can occur in an open environment and foster new discoveries for the benefit of our Nation while also protecting intellectual capital, discouraging research misappropriation, and ensuring the responsible management of United States taxpayer dollars.”

The presidential memo reinforces the Trump administration’s efforts to maintain American leadership in the field of science and technology.

“America must remain the world’s leader in S&T [science and technology] during this era of great power competition, and today’s signing builds on the long and successful history of actions taken by President Trump to protect American technology from adversaries,” the press secretary said.

  13. Twitter Says Chinese Regime Tweets Denying ‘Forced Labor’ in Xinjiang Don’t Violate Rules

A Twitter spokesperson told Fox News Thursday that recent tweets by China’s communist regime denying the existence of forced labor in Xinjiang province and accusing the United States of making up lies about the documented human rights violations there do not break the social media platform’s rules.

China’s foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying posted a series of tweets on Thursday, claiming that forced labor “is the biggest lie of the century aimed to restrict and suppress the relevant Chinese authorities and companies and contain China’s development.”

But according to widespread investigative reporting, China’s communist authorities have ramped up their crackdown on ethnic Uyghur minorities in the Xinjiang region. This includes mass internment of around one million people, compulsory re-education programs, highly intrusive human and digital surveillance, religious suppression, enforced sterilization of women, and forced labor.

DC stages big drama as metro stations begin closing today and federal workers stay home through inauguration

Some Metro stations will close in Washington, D.C., on Friday ahead of Wednesday’ s inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, and many federal workers will work from home due to threats of more violence.

At least 20,000 National Guard troops have been called up to guard the District of Columbia until after Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris are sworn in. Intelligence reports indicate radical supporters of outgoing President Donald Trump could attempt to foster more unrest after last week’s assault on the U.S. Capitol building.

Barricades have gone up around the city, roads have been closed and security fencing has been installed for blocks around the Capitol, the site of the inauguration.

On Friday, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is closing 11 train stations that serve the Capitol area and the National Mall — a commemorative section of the city that spans several miles and includes the White House, Washington Monument and memorials honoring Presidents Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and soldiers from World War II, Vietnam and Korea.

End of Free Speech? AOC Wants Commission to ‘Rein in Media’ over ‘Disinformation’

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is calling for a commission to “rein in the media” over what she calls “misinformation” and “disinformation.” Basically, AOC wants the end of dissent… the end of differing opinions. As we saw with President Trump and his ban from Twitter, Big Tech and people like AOC are now emboldened to shut down conservative voices. Is this the end of free speech?

A Justice Department court filing has revealed a plan that rioters purportedly designed to “capture and assassinate” elected officials during last week’s raid on the U.S. Capitol.

Federal prosecutors in the filing asked an Arizona judge to detain Jacob Chansley, an Arizona man who was pictured wearing face and body makeup and buffalo horns while standing at Vice President Mike Pence’s desk in the Senate.

Chansley is set to appear in a federal court on Friday.

Kristen Clarke, President-elect Joe Biden’s nominee for Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, is a disastrous choice. Clarke has a long record of making racially charged-comments, going back to her time in college and continuing to this day. She also has spoken out in favor of anti-Semites. Back in college, Clarke led a student group that provided an anti-Semitic professor a platform to spew his vile remarks. Much more recently, Clarke supported an advocate of the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. If Clarke’s name is not withdrawn from consideration, the Senate must reject her nomination.

The Capitol Police have over 2,000 sworn officers. A police force dedicated to protecting Capitol Hill has more personnel in its service than the police forces of most of the country.

Twitter has every right to decide who uses its platform. So does Facebook. And Google. Whoever pays the mortgage gets to decide the rules.

I own a broadcast media company that includes a news-talk radio station and two prominent websites. And just like Twitter and Facebook, I get to decide who has a voice on my platforms.

Unlike Big Tech, I actually cherish free speech. I believe in spirited debate. And I believe in the free exchange of ideas.

Officials have not identified “specific, credible threats” ahead of Inauguration Day, a top homeland security official said Friday.

“There’s no specific credible threats at this point in time. There’s just this raised level of tension. And so we’re raising our security level. And we’re doing it across the country,” Ken Cuccinelli, acting deputy secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, said on CNN’s “New Day.”

FBI Director Christopher Wray told Vice President Mike Pence in a briefing on Thursday that the bureau was seeing an “extensive amount of concerning online chatter” of potential threats before and during the inauguration.

St. Paul to form reparations commission for redistribution of wealth

The city of St. Paul apologized for its role in institutional racism on Wednesday and agreed to form a new commission to study reparations for Black residents whose ancestors were enslaved.

The City Council voted 7-0 to form the “St. Paul Recovery Act Community Reparations Commission” as a way to promote racial healing. The resolution creating the commission also apologizes for slavery at Fort Snelling and the destruction of St. Paul’s Rondo neighborhood in the 1950s.

Council Member Jane Prince, the resolution’s lead sponsor on the council, partnered with Trahern Crews, co-chair of the Green Party of the United States who heads up its national reparations working group.

Crews, addressing the Council before the vote, said slavery followed by more than a century of systemic racism has deprived Black Americans of the ability to acquire generational wealth.

“Whites still have 90% of the wealth and Blacks only have 2.6% of the wealth in America,” said Crews, who also co-chairs a community reparations steering committee.
