Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

The Kingdom calls the international community to take a firm stance towards the Iranian regime, as this firm stance must guarantee that Iranian regime is prevented from obtaining weapons of mass destruction, the development of its ballistic missile program and threatening peace and security,” the monarch said in an address to an advisory council, as quoted by the state SPA news agency.

    The years-long UN arms embargo on Iran expired in October, despite the US efforts to extend it. The lifting of restrictions happened in line with the 2015 nuclear deal that sought to prevent the country from developing nuclear weapons in return for sanctions relief.

    Tehran has said that its hands are now untied in dictating the movement of armaments over its borders but stressed that it has no intention to engage in an arms race.

    The Islamic republic has also noted that weapons of mass destruction have no place in its defence doctrine.”

    “Medical journals describe how the underage victims of the botched circumcision were in so much pain that they had difficulty walking.

    A Syrian man who between April and May 2018 circumcised nine boys with a soldering gun in the Swedish cities of Söderhamn and Gävle has been slapped with a suspended sentence, national broadcaster SVT reported.

    The man is in his 30s and is not a licensed doctor in Sweden. He performed the circumcisions at the request of the boys’ guardians with a non-medical soldering gun. For his services, he received approximately SEK 2,000 ($230) in payment.

    The man himself has, however, insisted that he’d had a medical education in Syria and thus is authorised to perform circumcision. Doctors who treated the children after the excruciating procedures, however, emphasised their disbelief that these could have been carried out by a real surgeon. Medical journals describe, among other things, how a couple of the boys were in so much pain after the botched circumcision that they had difficulty walking.

    The investigation indicated that the man had come into contact with the families of the circumcised boys via a then-board member at Bilaal preschool previously linked to extremist circles. One of the founders of the preschool and a former employee were slated for deportation. According to the Swedish Security Police (Säpo), an extremist network active in Gästrikland County had access to premises belonging to Bilaal preschool, SVT reported.

    The fake doctor has now been convicted of assault, causing bodily harm and violating the law on circumcision of boys. The penalty is a suspended sentence with 180 hours’ community service. The man must also pay SEK 55,000 ($6,350) in damages.

    At the same time, the man has been acquitted of assault on four occasions and causing bodily harm on five occasions. The reasons for this are that the court found that it is not proven that the inflammation in some of the cases came from the procedures, and that it is not proven that the pain was of such a nature that it should be considered abuse.

    The prosecutor had previously demanded two years’ imprisonment for the man.

    Circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin from the human penis. It is practised in many cultures, including Judaism, Islam and even some Christian branches, and is often seen as a rite of passage and a transition from boyhood to adulthood.

    In Sweden, operating on the foreskin of underage boys without a medical reason has been allowed since 2001.”

    “Following the beheading of French teacher Samuel Paty, one in three Norwegian teachers admitted to being afraid to show cartoons of Prophet Muhammad for fear of consequences. This has been described as an “unfortunate development” and poses an ethical dilemma.

    A recent survey has indicated that Norwegian teachers are increasingly wary of subjects deemed controversial, such as the notorious Muhammad cartoons and free speech.

    Almost half of all the surveyed teachers in Norway found it demanding to teach students about topics that may be offensive. Among others, one in three is afraid to show caricatures of Islamic Prophet Muhammad during classes, admittedly for fear of the consequences.

    Others cited reasons such as respect for Islam and minorities, the desire not to offend and being unsure that the school leadership would support them.

    At the same time, one in four said that they have conscientiously avoided raising hot-button issues during classes because they were worried about offending some of the students. Topics typically found offensive included religion, sexuality, suicide, and Islam.

    All in all, over 230 Norwegian teachers participated in the survey, 70 percent of them women.

    “Several teachers at my school have previously shown caricatures during classes. None of us want to do that now”, professor Kjersti Marie Heldaas at Nøtterøy upper secondary school explained to the trade magazine Utdanningsnytt.

    “It’s serious that it’s like that. At the same time, it is not surprising,” leader of the Education Association Steffen Handal said, referring to the beheading of French teacher Samuel Paty who was killed in mid-October after showing cartoons of Prophet Muhammad while teaching the freedom of expression. The incident shook teachers all over Europe, including Norway. “Still, it is thought-provoking that so many are afraid of possible consequences,” he added.

    Ingunn Folgerø, the head of the Teachers’ Ethics Council, admitted that this poses a dilemma for teachers, because many in the profession are scared. She argued that this is a “very unfortunate development” that teachers are afraid of consequences if they show the controversial caricatures in teaching.

    “Freedom of expression is a fundamental foundation of democracy and is very strong,” Folgerø said. At the same time she urged fellow teachers to “reflect on professionalism, promote tolerance and understanding and abstain from what she called “unnecessary activism”.

    Europe has seen a number of attacks related to or justified by what is seen as the humiliation of Prophet Muhammad, the central figure in Islam. For instance, Charlie Hebdo, a French satirical weekly adhering to the non-conformist left, has been the target of three terrorist attacks (in 2011, 2015 and 2020) all of which are presumed to have been in response to the Muhammad cartoons. Muhammad cartoons by Swedish artist Lars Vilks have led to several unsuccessful assassination attempts, prompting the artist to go into hiding and engage clockwork police protection.”

    “For years, billionaire George Soros has been reportedly tied to the funding of downballot elections, such as local attorney races, as part of what is perceived as a years-long campaign by liberal groups to reshape the US criminal justice system.

    Victories in local US attorney races connected to billionaire George Soros are increasingly starting to raise questions, writes Fox News.

    The American billionaire investor and philanthropist, known for his lavish donations to political causes, is reportedly conducting an ongoing campaign to influence local law enforcement, according to Dan Gainor, vice president at the conservative Media Research Center.

    “This has been a Soros-funded operation for several years, designed to influence local legal systems around the country,” he was quoted as saying by the outlet on Wednesday.
    Gainor, whose Media Research Center tracks funding from Soros-backed entities, cited a Los Angeles Times report dated 2018 that claimed the former hedge fund manager had spent over $16 million on county races outside of California.

    The same report alleged that the billionaire’s spending in California had surpassed $2.7 million.

    Gainor adds that the philanthropist’s Open Society Foundations awarded the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) a grant of $50 million in 2014 in support of its nationwide campaign to reform criminal justice policies.

    “Soros knows that district attorneys and states’ attorneys have incredible power. He threw $2 million into the campaign of Cook County States Attorney Kim Foxx, who dropped the charges in the Jussie Smollett case,” stated Gainor.
    Megadonor Funding Local Attorneys
    The current election cycle has been marked by an increasing number of local attorneys winning elections with the help of money connected to George Soros.

    Thus, the philanthropist donated at least $1.5 million to the California Justice and Safety Political Action Committee (PAC), which backed Democrat George Gascon of Los Angeles.

    After receiving an estimated $80,000 in advertising funding from the same PAC, Shalena Cook Jones, the Democratic district attorney-elect for Chatham County in Georgia, also won her race, according to the Athens Banner-Herald.

    Similarly, Soros’ PACs are reported to have funnelled $116,000 to Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner’s successful re-election bid in St. Louis.

    Previously, a report by The Washington Post stated that progressive challengers had successfully ousted incumbents after receiving close to $1 million in financial support from the Justice and Public Safety PAC in Arlington and Fairfax Counties’ 2019 Democratic prosecutor primaries.

    Soros backed Parisa Dehghani-Tafti to beat Arlington County Commonwealth’s Attorney Theo Stamos, and supported former Justice Department employee Steve Descano in his race against Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Raymond Morrogh.

    The campaign finance reports cited by Fox News showed Dehghani-Tafti had received $583,000 and Descano $392,000 from the PAC.

    In 2016, a Republican running for district attorney in Henry County, Georgia, stood down after Soros Fund Management threw its weight behind his opponent.

    “After consulting with my family and trusted advisers, it has become clear that we will most likely not be successful against an unlimitedly financed opponent, and I refuse to put my family through what has transpired in other Soros-backed elections,” attorney Matt McCord was quoted as saying at the time.

    McCord’s successful rival, current District Attorney Darius Pattillo, had denied claims at the time that Soros had donated directly to him or his campaign.

    Pattillo and Shalena Cook Jones were cited as alleging the heightened focus on Soros was no more than a distraction.

    “[B]y fanning the flames of George Soros and making them think there’s a ghost behind the curtain, we are getting away from the principles of equality and justice for all and that’s the only thing I’m trying to offer these people,” said Shalena Cook Jones.
    According to Dan Gainor, while George Soros might have been turned into a ‘boogeyman’ figure, his influence is real. There has not been any official comment on the report from The Open Society Foundation, founded by George Soros.

    In 2019 Attorney General William Barr issued a warning over liberal billionaire George Soros “bankrolling radical prosecutor candidates” in cities across the country.
    Barr warned that if continued, the trend might result in a surge in violent crime, appearing in an interview on Fox News’ “The Story”.

    “There’s this recent development [where] George Soros has been coming in, in largely Democratic primaries where there has not been much voter turnout and putting in a lot of money to elect people who are not very supportive of law enforcement and don’t view the office as bringing to trial and prosecuting criminals but pursuing other social agendas,” Barr told Martha MacCallum.

    He added:

    “We could find ourselves in a position that communities that are not supporting the police may not get the police protection they need.”

    Earlier this year, amid Black Lives Matter protests against racial injustice and police brutality that swept the US sparked by the death of black man George Floyd in police custody, an anti-deportation group called Organized Communities Against Deportation (OCAD) was reported to be affiliated with Soros’ Open Society Foundations.

    Breitbart reported the group had pursued its agenda “as far back as early 2016” when they held a protest in Chicago demanding to “defund the police” and “dismantle ICE”.

    The media outlet also added that OCAD had declared via social media it intended to continue to display support for the Black Lives Matter movement, stating that “our liberation is dependent on Black liberation!””

    “A bomb attached to the vehicle of a radio journalist in southern Afghanistan exploded early Thursday, killing him, a provincial official said.

    Omer Zwak, spokesman for the provincial governor in southern Helmand province, said a sticky bomb attached to Elyas Dayee’s vehicle killed Dayee and wounded three others, including Dayee’s brother, a child and another man.

    Sami Mahdi, Radio Azadi bureau chief, tweeted: “My colleague and dear friend, Elyas Dayee, lost his life in a terrorist attack this morning.” The attack took place in Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital.

    “He was a gentleman. Always had signature smile. This is terrible news. Elyas, you will be remembered dearly,” Mahdi said in his tweet.

    “Hungary’s government proposed a constitutional amendment Tuesday that would defend children’s sexual integrity while limiting adoption to married couples.

    In the draft amendment submitted to parliament by Justice Minister Judit Varga, the national constitution would declare that “the mother is a woman, the father is a man,” Hungarian media report, while also outlawing gender reassignment for minors.

    In direct opposition to gender theory, the amended text states that “Hungary protects children’s right to an identity conforming to their birth gender and ensures education in accordance with the values ??based on Hungary’s constitutional identity and Christian culture.”

    “Human dignity,” states an explanatory memorandum, “also includes the right of every child to have an identity appropriate to his or her gender, including protection against mental or biological interference with his or her physical and mental integrity.”

    Hungarian law already recognizes marriage as a stable union between one man and one woman, and Tuesday’s amendment would stipulate that only people in such a union would be allowed to adopt children. Single people could only adopt children with special permission from the minister in charge of family affairs.

    “The basis for family relations is marriage,” it states. “The mother is a woman, the father is a man.”

    Government officials say the new bill will increase “emphasis on children’s rights during adoption.”

    Left-wing media have attacked the new amendment as an attempt to impose a “Christian interpretation of gender roles” on the nation by a governing “right-wing” party.

    Last May, Hungary’s parliament voted 134 to 56 to define gender based on biological sex, a move that Amnesty International claimed would drive the nation “back towards the dark ages.”

    That same month, parliament passed a declaration against signing the Istanbul Convention on preventing and combating violence against women, noting that the convention attempts to smuggle in gender theory under the guise of human rights.

    The Istanbul Convention “defines ‘gender’ as ‘socially constructed roles, behaviours, activities and attributes that a given society considers appropriate for women and men,’” stated Zoltán Kovács, Secretary of State for International Communication and Relations, which puts it at odds with the Hungarian constitution.

    Adopting the Istanbul Convention with its “social gender” definition would “void” the Hungarian constitutional position that there are “only two biological genders, male and female,” Kovács said.

    Already in 2018 the Hungarian government discontinued programs in gender studies at state-run universities after determining that the programs served no identifiable purpose and were based on “ideology rather than science.”

    Bence Rétvári, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Human Resources, said that university degrees must be rooted in a scientific basis, whereas gender studies, “like Marxist-Leninism,” are more aptly termed ideology than science, and are inappropriate matter for university-level education.”

    • BBC – Hungary government proposes same-sex adoption ban

      Hungary’s government has drafted a change to the country’s constitution that would in effect ban adoption by same-sex couples.

      The proposed amendment would specify that “the mother is a woman, the father is a man” and permit only married couples to adopt children.

      Same-sex marriage is illegal in Hungary, but adoption has been possible if one partner applies on their own.

      The draft legislation has been condemned by human rights groups.

      The proposal was sent to parliament by the governing right-wing Fidesz party late on Tuesday. It would require children to be raised with a “Christian” interpretation of gender roles.

      “[It] ensures education in accordance with the values based on Hungary’s constitutional identity and Christian culture,” it reads.

      Hungary’s government, led by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, has made sweeping changes to the constitution since coming to power in 2010.

      The document already defines “the institution of marriage as between a man and a woman” as well as “the basis of the family and national survival”.

      Under the latest proposed amendment, single people could only adopt with special permission from the minister in charge of family affairs. For this reason, the proposal is also being viewed by critics as an attack on single-parent families as well as LGBT people.

      These proposals are the latest move by the Fidesz government to reinforce its definition of a family as a union of husband and wife and their children.

      It reasons that the traditional family is under attack worldwide from ultra-liberal ideologists, and must be defended.

      The amendments are likely to be voted into force by the two-thirds Fidesz majority in early December. Meanwhile, the Equal Treatment Authority, which has criticised and even fined government ministers in the past, will be abolished.

      The immediate effect of this change in the constitution will be to make it almost impossible for any individuals, including a small number living in a same-sex relationship, to adopt children.

      At least 500,000 children in Hungary live in single-parent families, and opposition parties have accused the government of discriminating against them in the family allowance and tax system.

      LGBTQ groups said it was deliberately drafted at a time when mass protests were not possible due to the coronavirus pandemic.

      “The timing is no coincidence,” a statement from the Háttér Society rights group said.

      It added: “The proposals that severely limit legal rights and go against basic international and European human rights … were submitted at a time when… protests are not allowed.”

      In May, Hungary’s parliament approved a law that banned transgender people from changing the gender they were assigned at birth on official documents.

      At the time, rights groups said it would worsen discrimination against LGBTQ citizens.

      “People are in panic, people want to escape from Hungary to somewhere else where they can get their gender recognised,” said Tina Korlos Orban, vice president of the advocacy group Transvanilla Transgender Association.

    • EU launches LGBT protection strategy as homophobia rises in east

      BRUSSELS (Reuters) – The European Union’s executive Commission launched its first strategy to protect the rights of LGBT people on Thursday, a challenge to right-wing governments in Poland and Hungary that have become increasingly homophobic in the past year.

      The Commission said LGBT people were facing growing discrimination in Europe, even as most people in the bloc were becoming more accepting of gay rights.

      “We will defend the rights of LGBT people against those who now have more and more appetite to attack them from this ideological point of view,” EU Commission Vice-President Vera Jourova told a news conference. “This belongs to the authoritarian playbook and it does not have a place in the EU.”

      The Commission launched its LGBTIQ Equality Strategy, defining the term as “lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, non-binary, intersex and queer”.

      According to survey figures cited by the commission, 43% of LGBT people last year said they felt discriminated against, up from 37% in 2012. That increase came even though 76% of EU citizens said lesbians, gays, and bisexuals should have equal rights to heterosexuals, up from 71% in 2015.

      “It’s 2020, and hate and discrimination of people from sexual minorities really does not belong to Europe,” Jourova said.

      The new strategy comes as right-wing governments in some former Communist eastern EU member states have made campaigning against gay rights a central part of their ruling ideology.

      Ahead of his re-election earlier this year, Poland’s President Andrzej Duda campaigned against an “LGBT ideology” he branded more destructive than communism. He has pledged to ban teaching of gay rights in schools.

      This week, Hungary’s right-wing government proposed a constitutional amendment to require children to be brought up with a “Christian” interpretation of gender roles, and a law that would effectively ban adoptions by same-sex couples.

      “Family law is member states’ competence, we fully respect it,” Jourova said. “However, when applying national law, member states must respect their international human rights obligations and applicable EU law. Member States should also respect the fundamental values on which the Union is based, including equality and human rights.”

      Earlier this year, the Commission cut EU funding to some Polish towns that declared themselves “LGBT-free zones”. The Polish government compensated the towns.

      “We can never accept LGBT-free zones because they are, actually, humanity free zones,” EU Commissioner for Equality Helena Dalli told the news conference.

      Jurova and Dalli made clear the EU would not fund any projects that did not respect LGBT rights.

      The Commission has proposed including homophobic hate crimes in a list of so-called “Eurocrimes”, major offences such as terrorism and human trafficking, for which the EU can set minimum rules. That would require unanimity among EU members.

      The EU strategy would also seek to ensure that the legal status of relationships in families that include LGBT people cannot be revoked when they cross borders.

    Three migrants broke out of the Ponte Galeria deportation centre over the weekend with police being alerted of their escape on Saturday morning. Police later captured Moroccan Falah Hamza and another unnamed migrant, but Tunisian Ibrahim Ghomed is still on the run.

    Hamza, a known radical Islamic extremist, was taken back into custody just hours after his escape, Il Giornale reports. The newspaper stated that he was tracked down with the help of a local woman whose husband was familiar with the extremist.

    Tunisian Ibrahim Ghomed, meanwhile, has managed to evade police and is also suspected of being a terrorist, according to investigators.

    African authorities and Interpol alerted Italy to the extremist backgrounds of the three men. Italian police were then able to track down the three to the migrant centre and arrest them.

    Following the recent terrorist attack in Nice that saw three people murdered by a Tunisian in a local church, it was revealed that the migrant, 21-year-old Brahim Aouissaoui, had come to Europe illegally, landing on the Italian island of Lampedusa.

    He had also lived for a short time at a migrant centre in the city of Bari before he fled to France.

    Populist Senator Matteo Salvini later criticised the leftist coalition government and questioned how many other potential terrorists had come into Europe illegally through Italy.

    “A police watchdog has upheld a complaint by a grooming gang victim against South Yorkshire Police that the force knew for years that child rapist Arshid Hussain was targeting girls in foster care and other “vulnerable young women” caught up in the widespread Rotherham grooming gang scandal.

    Grooming gang survivor Sammy Woodhouse had lodged a complaint to the Independent Office for Police Conduct that the force had failed to “deal appropriately with information which may have led to a suspect being prosecuted at an earlier stage, thereby exposing other children to abuse”.

    The IOPC had found, in its report released this week, that South Yorkshire Police was aware that Hussain was raping Ms Woodhouse when she was 14, and that she was pregnant by him. It also knew that the rapist was in so-called “relationships” with other female minors in foster care, according to the report seen by The Times.

    Police documents from March 2000 revealed that “Hussain… has, in the past, had a number of relationships with young girls who are in foster care. He targets young, vulnerable women.”

    Other reports from later that month revealed South Yorkshire Police had struck a deal with Hussain to hand over the child, who was missing from home, to officers. Records show that the Pakistani-heritage man was neither questioned nor arrested.

    In June 2000, police had even gathered with other local agencies, including social services, to discuss Hussain and his brothers and their grooming and raping of vulnerable girls in the Rotherham area.

    Even social worker documents mentioned several minors, including Ms Woodhouse, as “girls Arshid Hussain uses for sex”. The young rape victim entered a care home in July 2000, but continued to be abused by Hussain, who her foster carer called her “older boyfriend”, with claims that social services “were content with the relationship”.

    The abuse did not come to public attention until Ms Woodhouse told her ordeal to The Times in 2013, prompting the Jay Report, which revealed in 2014 that more than 1,400 mostly white, working class underage girls had been groomed, raped, and sexually exploited by overwhelmingly Muslim, Pakistani-heritage men between 1997 and 2013 alone. The report found that police and social services failed to deal with the mass rape of children due to political correctness and for “fear of being thought racist”.

    An IOPC report from January revealed that one Rotherham chief inspector told the father of a missing girl in the early 2000s that they would not be investigating his daughter’s sexual exploitation over fears of stoking “racial tensions”, saying that the town “would erupt” if it were confirmed that Pakistanis were targeting white girls for sex — a scandal that the officer admitted had been going on for 30 years without challenge.

    Similar approaches were revealed to have occurred in other forces around the country, with a report showing that in the early 2000s, Greater Manchester Police officers were told to look for sexual abusers of “other ethnicities”, despite having evidence that a gang of some 97 South Asian men were abusing around 57 girls in the city.

    South Yorkshire Police admitted to the findings, but no officers will be held responsible for the abuse that so many girls had suffered.

    Reacting to the report, Ms Woodhouse told the newspaper of record that it was a “bittersweet moment”, adding: “I’ve been waiting 19 years for this. It shows that if professionals had taken action when I was a child, the suffering of so many more girls and their families could have been prevented. Far too many lives have been ruined.”

    Last month it was revealed that the government’s national child abuse inquiry would not be looking at Pakistani grooming gangs, instead probing into areas where there have been no reports of the racially-motivated grooming of vulnerable white girls, allegedly on the grounds that grooming gang scandals in places like Rochdale, Rotherham, Manchester, Oxford, and Telford were of a historical nature.

    Maggie Oliver, a former Manchester police detective who blew the whistle on the Rochdale grooming gangs, condemned the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse for its decision and revealed that two-thirds of her witness statement to the IICSA had been deleted.

    Ms Oliver had said: “This isn’t a historical problem, it is going on in every town and city in the north of England… Even now, even today and I have information from this weekend. This is not a historical problem.

    “This is another attempt to silence those with an alternative viewpoint based on fact and knowledge… The establishment don’t want to hear that truth, they peddle out the same platitudes… They always say these are historical failures.”

    Woodhouse also said of the IICSA that “They are trying to bury what happened in places like Rotherham and Rochdale because they’re scared of being called racist.””

    Between Thursday and Saturday, an estimated 100 illegal migrants were brought ashore in England.

    Meanwhile, French authorities have arrested an Iraqi-Kurdish people-smuggling gang that is believed to have been responsible for trafficking between 500 and 1,000 illegal migrants to the UK over the past year, The Times reported on Monday.

    Superintendent Jean Arvieu said that the trafficking group would charge migrants — which mainly consisted of Iraqi Kurds but also included Iranians, Syrians, Pakistanis, and Afghans — €3,000 (£2,690) to help them illegally enter Britain by lorry and €1,800 (£1,600) by boat.

    While the suspects were not found with significant sums of money on them when they were detained, it is believed that the gang likely were used the Islamic hawala system — which has also been used to finance terrorism — to transfer funds to further evade detection.

    An employee at Eritrea’s consulate in The Hague has been banned from the site following allegations that money was being “forcibly” collected there from Eritreans.
    Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Blok summoned Eritrea’s roving ambassador in Brussels, to convey his demands for the practice to stop, according to local reports.
    In January 2018, the Eritrean Consul General in the Netherlands was declared persona non grata for charging Eritreans there a 2% “diaspora tax” from their income.
    Some Eritreans who need services from embassies are still forced to pay the levy which was introduced soon after the country gained independence in 1991.
    Eritrea’s information minister has rejected the latest allegations and accused the Dutch of “harassing” the consulate, and insists no “illicit” funds were levied.
    In a tweet on Tuesday, Yemane Gebermeskel called it “unacceptable behaviour” that was “pandering to narrow interest groups”.
    He added that the non-resident Dutch ambassador would be summoned, and promised “further appropriate and reciprocal action” would be announced “in due time”.
    It is not yet clear what kind of action the Eritrean government can take as the Netherlands does not have an embassy in Asmara.
    Sources say the person acting as head of the consulate does not have any diplomatic status in the country.
    The Eritrean government has been encouraging those living in the diaspora to contribute to a national fund to combat Covid-19. Some have criticised the government for not being transparent in the way it manages the funds.

    “Our Democratic House will proudly pass our election reform, anti-corruption, and voting rights legislation by passing H.R.1 on the first day of the new Congress,” she vowed in the letter.

    Democrats tried to advance H.R.1, also known as the “For the People Act,” last year, which specifically “expands voter registration and voting access and limits removing voters from voter rolls,” according to a summary of the bill.

    A “Memo to the Movement” from the Conservative Action Project highlighted a number of the objectives outlined in the bill, which includes the criminalization of political speech and the automatic registration of voters.

    “Conservatives are united in opposing H.R. 1, the attempt by House Democrats to fundamentally undermine the American electoral system,” the memo stated.

  29. Syrian man who circumcised 9 boys with SOLDERING GUN in Sweden gets suspended sentence & fine

    A Syrian man, who claimed to be a doctor and performed circumcisions on nine boys using a soldering gun has been given a suspended sentence, community service and a $10,000 fine.

    A resident of the city of Gavle, he is said to be in his 30s, he was charged with assault, causing bodily harm and violating Sweden’s law on circumcision, local media reported. The court was told that some of the victims complained it was painful to walk after what was done to them. Prosecutors had asked for a two-year sentence.

    But the court said on some counts the charges could not be proven because there was no established link between the procedures and the symptoms the boys experienced. If the court had opted for a prison term, the defendant could have faced up to eight months behind bars.

    Instead, he received a suspended sentence and 180 hours of community service. He will also have to pay SEK 55,000 ($6,400) in damages, plus a SEK 33,000 ($3,800) fine.

    All the nine circumcisions took place between April and May 2018 in Gavle and in neighboring Soderhamn. Guardians of the boys reportedly contacted the man, who is a Syrian citizen, through the Bilaal preschool for Muslims and paid him around $230 for his services.

    Sweden demands that circumcisions are performed by licensed medical experts using proper surgical instruments under safe conditions. The man claimed he was trained as a doctor back in Syria, but medics who inspected his work told the court they doubted his credentials. He didn’t have a license to practice in Sweden and certainly could not legally use a soldering gun for medical procedures.

    The police were alerted about a possible crime by a Soderhamn pharmacy, when staff became suspicious about the purchase of a large amount of topical anesthetic and wound gauze.

    A board member from the Bilaal school, who served as a go-between, has since been suspended and is facing deportation. The school was shut down in December last year by the municipality over a failure to meet the requirements of Swedish education laws. According to local media, law enforcement also found connections between the school’s management and an extremist network operating in Soderhamn.

  35. Germany: Primary school pupil threatens to behead Berlin teacher

    An 11-year-old Muslim pupil at a Berlin primary school threatened to behead a teacher on Wednesday according to comments made by the school’s headteacher to German media.

    One parent discussed her shock over the incident outside the Christian-Morgenstern school on Thursday as students arrived for the day’s classes.

    “I found it very shocking to hear something like that from such small kids,” stated Jannah Swain, the parent of a pupil.

    Head of the school, Karina Jehniche, told German media that colleagues and students were shocked to hear the pupil tell his teacher: “I’ll do the same with you as the boy did with the teacher in Paris.”

    The boy reportedly made the threat after his teacher informed the class there would be consequences if parents didn’t attend upcoming talks with school staff.

    The boy’s father subsequently picked him up from school, while his mother reportedly expressed shock and surprise at the threat.

    The same pupil was reportedly involved in a second incident during the school’s minute silence for the slain French teacher. The 11-year-old is said to have told a fellow student that it was: “OK to kill someone who had insulted the prophet.”

    London police have detained two citizens suspected of preparing terrorist acts, according to New Scotland Yard. Both were taken into custody at central London police station, where they remain.

    According to the police report, two 34-year-old men were seen at around 12.10 am on 12 November in the Westminster area acting suspiciously. Later on, they were stopped and then arrested in Pall Mall by police armed officers. The police also searched their vehicle.

    An investigation is underway and being led by the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command. Richard Smith, who heads the Command, appealed to the public and ensured people they could help them to keep London safe by being vigilant and reporting any suspicious behaviour to the police.

    The Justice Department said that by distributing the bomb-making tutorial video, Suljovic attempted to provide material support to Daesh*.

    “Had more decisive action been taken earlier to demonstrate that these attempts would not succeed, the small boats route may not have become established in the minds of many migrants and facilitators as an effective method of illegal entry,” wrote David Bolt, the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration, in his official report.

    In 2018 the then-Home Secretary, Joe Biden supporter Sajid Javid, declared a “major incident” in the English Channel as illegal boat migration rose sharply over the Christmas season.

    This was not followed by meaningful action, however. Neither Javid nor the incumbent Home Secretary, Priti Patel, have turned back a single boat intercepted at sea, and daily landings consistently smashed their previous records throughout 2020 despite tough talk on prosecuting people-smugglers and deportation orders — which have only been successfully executed for a tiny minority of individuals.

    The Chief Inspector was clear that the authorities could not claim the crisis came out of a clear blue sky, noting that “Overall, up until March 2020, there were no signs of the threat of clandestine entry reducing and recent evidence pointed in the other direction.”

    In reality, even before boat crossings started to become a large-scale problem in 2018, so-called “clandestine entry” (illegal immigration) was a significant problem, centring largely but not exclusively on migrants attempting to hijack or stow away on road vehicles headed for Britain by increasingly audacious means.

    The first traveller was actually killed by a migrant booby trap in 2017, and the issue had not gone away, despite boat crossings having come to dominate what little the mainstream is willing to publish on the subject of illegal immigration.

    Indeed, the Chief Inspector noted that, while the Home Office has tried to suggest that boat crossings have become more popular because of their successful investment in additional port security, “it is the case that the number of ‘lorry drop’ migrants encountered in the UK increased in 2019 by a third over the previous year, and organised smuggling of large groups concealed in road transport continues” to this day.

    “This devastating report underlines what Migration Watch UK has long pointed to, the crumbling state of immigration enforcement,” lamented Alp Mehmet, chairman of Migration Watch UK, in a statement on the Chief Inspector’s findings seen by Breitbart London.

    “While politicians talked tough, the actions that followed have been pitifully weak,” Mehmet continued.

    A contractor for Dominion Voting Systems said in a new sworn statement that she saw “fraudulent actions take place” at Detroit’s ballot counting site on Election Day.

    Melissa Carone, who was doing IT work at the TCF Center, worked from 6:15 a.m. on Nov. 3 to 4 a.m. the next day, before returning for another several hours of work later on Nov. 4.

    Carone said in an affidavit that she “witnessed nothing but fraudulent actions take place.”

    Carone said she saw workers count some ballots four or five times, and noticed that one of the counters had even counted a batch of ballots eight times.

  48. CBC – Immigration detention centres emptied over fear of possible COVID-19 outbreaks

    Lawyers have long argued confinement is inhumane. Pandemic lockdowns may have convinced Canadians, too

    The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is emptying out its detention centres and finding alternatives to keeping detainees behind bars until they can be processed.

    The reason is to prevent the spread of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. But advocates say it has been a long time coming, and they hope it will pave the way for a new approach in the future.

    Here’s a look at the numbers at the beginning of November:

    The Laval, Que., holding centre, which can accommodate 109 detainees, had 12.
    The Toronto centre, which can hold 183, had 18.
    The new CBSA centre in Surrey, B.C., which has a capacity of 70, held 11.
    For years, lawyer Pierre-Olivier Marcoux has been pleading for the release of immigration detainees.

    The Montreal legal aid lawyer, who specializes in immigration law, can’t believe it took a pandemic to get people out.

    “It’s in the interest of my clients to be free,” said Marcoux. “But it’s still incredible that all of a sudden, because of a virus, we want to detain the smallest number of people possible.”

    Thousands put behind bars
    Between April 2019 and March 2020, CBSA put 8,825 people, including 138 minors, behind bars, under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

    Among them, for instance, were asylum seekers who did not have all the necessary identification papers, foreign workers whose visas had expired and people awaiting deportation. Most of the children in those holding centres were there with a detained parent.

    Close to 2,000 of them — more than one out of five — were locked up in provincial jails, either because the CBSA holding centres were full, there were no centres in their region or the detainee’s file had a link to criminality.

    But as of last week, there were only 94 immigration detainees in provincial jails.

    ‘Doesn’t come from the heart’
    Patrick (an African national that Radio-Canada agreed not to identify because his immigration file is still being processed) described the months he spent last year in the Laval immigration holding centre, a detention facility surrounded by barbed wire, as “a traumatic experience.”

    He said his every move was watched by security officers, his hands and feet handcuffed every time he was transported outside the building for appointments with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

    While Patrick was happy to see other asylum seekers like himself being released while waiting for their case to be processed, he’s disappointed it took a pandemic to make it happen.

    “It doesn’t come from the heart. It’s not because the border officers believe detention is inhumane. No, it’s because they’re forced to do it,” he said.

    The vast majority of people imprisoned by CBSA do not represent a danger to Canada, according to its own reports. In 85 per cent of cases, people are detained because officials fear they won’t show up for their immigration proceedings.

    “And yet we are treated like criminals,” said Patrick. “Extreme measures are used on people whose situation is irregular, whose only ‘crime’ is often to be lacking Canadian papers. For those who believed that Canada was a human paradise, it’s a shock.

    “We come from countries where there is police and military abuse. We arrive here and what do we see? This country that is supposed to be one of the most developed in the world does the same thing.”

    Lawyer Marcoux said, “It’s often more difficult to secure the release of someone held for immigration purposes than on criminal charges.”

    He gave as an example the fact that an immigration detainee is more likely to be released if a bondsperson is willing to host the person in his home while the file is being processed, on top of putting up money as a guarantee.

    In criminal justice, the bondsperson is usually not expected to shelter an accused awaiting trial.

    Since the beginning of the pandemic, Marcoux noted that alternative solutions to migrant detention are more easily accepted. It’s proof, he said, that detention can be avoided as is prescribed in international law.

    Alternative solutions can be approved by CBSA as well as by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.

    ‘99% respect their conditions’
    “CBSA has been sending us an increasing number of people so it can empty the holding centres,” said Samira Figuigui, executive director of the John Howard Society of Quebec.

    The organization has been overseeing a migrant-monitoring program in the community in partnership with CBSA since summer 2018.

    However, the program has seen an upsurge since the pandemic.

    In early March, the program had about 10 active files. It has since doubled.

    Under this program, a detainee who is released from the Laval holding centre has to agree to a set of conditions, such as reporting to the organization every week, doing volunteer work or finding a job (if they are legally allowed to do so) and undergoing therapy, if applicable.

    Figuigui said “99 per cent respect their conditions.”

    Since the program’s launch, the organization admits that it has lost track of two people: one who suffered from mental illness and another one who had a drug problem. According to Figuigui, neither represented a threat to society.

    Canadians more empathetic
    The border closures due to the pandemic have dramatically slowed deportations, but they have also greatly reduced the number of new refugee claims.

    If and when travel returns to normal, advocates hope mass detentions will not.

    They also hope the federal government has learned from this event and that it will maintain the increased use of alternative solutions, as they have called for over the years.

    Jean-Claude Bernheim, president of John Howard Society in Quebec, said he thinks Canadians are keenly aware of the negative impact of confinement, now that many have lived through lockdowns because of the pandemic.

    “Being detained in a migrant holding centre is a confinement that is more dramatic than in society. But the population at large now realizes that having your movements or human contact restrained has an impact on your mental health,” Bernheim said.

    “If these effects are true for free citizens, it can easily be concluded that they are much greater on people in detention.”

    Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Tuesday he recognizes the pandemic has changed our ways of doing many things.

    “I think it’s perfectly natural that with all the different things we’re doing in less ordinary ways during this pandemic that it gives us pause and allows us to reflect on maybe we can do things differently or better into the future,” Trudeau said. “I think that there’s a number of things we’ll be looking at within our systems that we may make changes to.”

    Earlier, Radio-Canada had asked the minister responsible for CBSA if he was willing to keep up the use of alternative solutions to detention once the pandemic was over.

    In its response, the office of Public Safety Minister Bill Blair said this is the approach his government is already taking.

    “Immigration detention has always been a measure of last resort, used only in limited circumstances and only after alternatives to detention are first considered,” stated the minister’s office in its email to Radio-Canada.

    “The CBSA ensures that volumes remain at a minimum and that all options for release are explored for cases where an individual’s risk can be managed in the community.”

    A Republican poll watcher who filed a lawsuit over suspected election fraud described a “pattern of intimidation and bullying” as he and others tried to monitor the ballot processing in Wayne County, the largest in the battleground state of Michigan.

    A group of “extremely confrontational” poll observers “constantly” accosted the Republican watchers, hindering their ability to focus on observing the ballot count and checking for errors, Edward McCall told The Epoch Times.

    “It was constant; it was unbelievable. The level of hostility and distraction, and just asking questions and staring at me from a couple of feet away … it was shocking,” he said in an interview.

    McCall is one of two plaintiffs in a Nov. 9 lawsuit (pdf) alleging “numerous issues of fraud and misconduct” at the TCF Center in downtown Detroit, the facility that counts all the absentee ballots for Wayne County. McCall worked as a poll watcher there from Nov. 2 to Nov. 4.

    As part of his pretense that the presidential race is over, Joe Biden indulged the banal “time for healing” and “we’re all Americans” rhetoric. But we shouldn’t be fooled. Even before Barack Obama’s dishonest “no red state, no blue state” campaign lies were followed by a hyper-partisan, divisive administration, we’ve known that the increasingly left-leaning Democrats will endorse “any means necessary” tactics to work their political will.

    And we also know that too many Republicans will fall for the Dems’ rhetorical bait-and-switch. We shouldn’t let them get away with it this time, for we’re facing a hard fight ahead to minimize the damage that the “woke” Democrats will try to inflict on our Constitution. It’s time to fight, not “heal.”

    First, anyone paying attention for the last few decades knows that every time a Democrat starts talking about “reaching across the aisle” and “bipartisanship,” he’s getting ready to pick your pocket. Such bromides are really euphemisms for serving their policy preferences rather than conservative ones, after which they’ll pat you on the head as a “good Republican” or a “maverick” for betraying your conservative principles.

    Meanwhile, few Democrats reciprocate. They never cringe preemptively before Republicans lest the Donks call them bad names. Outright racialist behavior such as consorting with a race-hack like Al Sharpton or an avowed anti-Semite like Louis Farrakhan is indulged, and any complaint contemptuously dismissed by Democrat Senators and House Representatives, even as they endlessly chant “racist” or “white supremacist” at Republicans.
