Reader’s Links fo November 10, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

We have been witnessing over the past four years something that is far more sinister than mere “bias” by liberal-left journalists. We have been witnessing a coordinated attack not only on President Trump, but on the American Republic itself, by leading media organizations, in alliance with officials still serving in, or recently departed from, the federal government.

  4. Before the presidential election has even concluded the left is already compiling a list of Trump supporters who “elected, served, funded, supported, and represented” President Donald J Trump.

They decided it’s no longer enough to just defeat Republicans at the ballot box (or steal the election). They have to silence those who would dissent from their orthodoxy.

  5. If just half is true I step aside
To let that humble truth go rumble by
    Rumble heavy with its freight
I feel the whoosh of wind it makes
“Which half is that?” my buddy asks
“That’s the Chinese in our ports,
    And Phil Haney’s final note
It’s fake ballots in the box
And all the rest we will not stop.”
“–Sure feels heavy for only half,” says my buddy with a laugh, “I can feel it in the ground pushing out its clickitty-clacks. But it’s quieter than all the rest.”
“–Yeah, it makes a little quake just going by like gold; silent like the humble man who knows just what he knows.”
“Now what’s that car?” my buddy points, the next one screaming by, its steel wheels squealing like a banshee on the tracks
“Oh that’s the future–feel it?–much heavier than the rest. Lies all buried by the truth who buries them alive.”
“Right,” says buddy, his tumblers now in place. “The truthful freight is quietest but makes noise when it must. Otherwise it glides in peace and justice without fuss.”

  6. Fear of Refugees Heading to Europe as Ethiopia Prosecutes War Against ‘Criminal Junta’ in Tigray (sputniknews, Nov 10, 2020)
    https://sputniknews.com/africa/202011101081115526-fear-of-refugees-heading-to-europe-as-ethiopia-prosecutes-war-against-criminal-junta-in-tigray/

“Ethiopia’s prime minister, Abiy Ahmed, has sent troops and air force jets into the rebellious Tigray region. Abiy, who ironically won the Nobel Peace Prize last year, has drafted in ethnic Amhara militiamen to fight the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF).

The African Union has called for an immediate halt to the conflict in northern Ethiopia, where the army is clashing with forces from the Tigrayan regional government.

Moussa Faki Mahamat, chairman of the African Union Commission, said in a statement on Tuesday, 10 November: “The chairperson appeals for the immediate cessation of hostilities and calls on parties to respect human rights and ensure the protection of civilians.”

Abiy Ahmed, who won the Nobel Peace Prize last year for reaching a deal with neighbouring Eritrea over the Badme triangle border dispute, has described the TPLF-controlled regional government in the Tigrayan capital, Mekelle, as a “criminal junta.”

Negasi Tesfaye, a political observer in Addis Ababa, said he feared the conflict could increase the number of refugees heading from Ethiopia and Eritrea north, through Sudan and Libya, into Europe.

He said: “Tigray’s economy had been thrown into disarray with the siege. Fuel supply is short, communications cut off, food is in limited supply and prices are skyrocketing. Add to that the COVID pandemic and the locust swarms and it’s a catastrophe.”

Mr Tesfaye said: “Tigray is already a food insecure region and this war will exacerbate the humanitarian situation.”

He said Tigray was already home to thousands of Eritrean refugees, who had fled military conscription under the authoritarian regime of Isaias Afewerki.

Those refugees may now flee Tigray and head north, towards Europe.

?Sudan’s SUNA news agency reported on Tuesday that “large numbers” of refugees fleeing the fighting in Tigray had crossed the border into Sudan.

?The leader of the Tigray region, Debretsion Gebremichael, claimed on Tuesday that Eritrean troops had crossed the border in Humera in western Tigray.

Mr Gebremichael said: “Since yesterday, the army of Isaias (Afwerki) have crossed the country’s boundary and invaded. They were attacking via Humera using heavy arms.”

The TPLF was the dominant political force in Ethiopia for more than 20 years but fell out with Abiy when he came to power in 2018.

Mr Tesfaye said Ethiopia was now in danger of “Balkanising” and there were early echoes of the conflict in Yugoslavia in the 1990s.

Ethiopia is an ethnic mixture of different tribes – Amhara, Oromo, Tigrayan, Somali, Sidama, Gurage, Wolayta and several others.

Emperor Haile Selassie, an Amhara, was deposed by a socialist military junta, the Derg, in 1974 and they ruled until the early 1990s when they were overthrown by a rebel movement, the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front.

But most of the fighting was done by the TPLF, which was led by Meles Zenawi, who became Ethiopia’s President in 1991.

Zenawi and a Tigrayan clique ruled the country until his death in 2012 and helped turn the it around, from one of Africa’s basket cases to the continent’s most thriving economy.

Mr Tesfaye said: “Tigray and Amhara have historically fought for the imperial crown (of Abyssinia) for centuries. Both sides don’t trust each other to rule the country. It is a zero sum game that has impoverished Ethiopia for a century.”

The Oromo, who make up a third of the country’s population of 114 million, are now sitting on the sidelines watching the conflict between Abiy’s Amhara-dominated government and the Tigrayans.

Mr Tesfaye said: “The Tigray regional forces are fighting alone for their survival, however there are many Oromos who are sympathetic because they’ve been targeted by Abiy’s military too, especially in Wellega in western Ethiopia.”

“There is a risk that Ethiopia can Balkanise. Tigrayans and Oromos want ethnic federalism, with autonomy for their regions. The Amhara, with support from Abiy Ahmed, want to change the constitution to a non-ethnic based system where power is concentrated in the centre (Addis Ababa),” Mr Tesfaye added.

He said the current conflict was “fundamentally an ideological battle, tinged with a bit of historical rivalries.”

With the United States embroiled in the aftermath of its presidential elections and Russia focusing on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, it may be left to China – which is Ethiopia’s biggest trade partner – to exert the diplomatic pressure needed to stop the fighting.”

One attack was intended to target a security checkpoint in the Abpashak area of the Gereshk district in Afghanistan’s southern Helmand province, the Maiwand Corps said. The second attack was planned by a different group of Taliban militants, on a different security checkpoint.

Both of the attacks were prevented by the Afghan forces.

“As a result of the second attack, nine Taliban and terrorist insurgents were killed and all their plans, including a car bomb, were destroyed”, the Maiwand Corps said.

  10. Khan Says ‘It’s Never Been More Hard to Be a Muslim’ Because of Trump, Claims Prez Bullied Him for His Faith (breitbart, Nov 10, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/11/10/khan-its-never-been-more-hard-muslim-because-of-trump-claims-prez-bullied-him-faith/

“Sadiq Khan, the left-wing Mayor of London, had claimed President Trump picked on him purely because of his religion, and that “it’s never been more hard to be a Muslim” because of him.

Mayor Khan made the comments in an interview with the anti-Brexit radio personality James O’Brien, welcoming the media-proclaimed but still contested victory of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the U.S. elections.

“I don’t know if your listeners who aren’t Muslim realise this, but look, being a Muslim ain’t easy, it isn’t easy,” the Labour politician told O’Brien.

“And it’s never been more hard to be a Muslim than the last four years. Why do I say that? Because you had, for the first time, the leader of the free world, the most powerful man in the world, a mainstream politician, perpetuating a view that Islam and the West are incompatible; perpetuating a view that all of us must be bad or must be terrorists because of the action of a very small minority,” Khan alleged.

“And let’s be frank: the reason why I was singled out was not because of any other reason, in my view, and the view of experts, than my faith,” he claimed, not citing said experts.

“[President Trump] brought into the mainstream those who were on the periphery, and it lead to Muslims around the world carrying an additional weight placed upon our shoulders by Donald Trump,” he went on, saying that similar burdens were placed on “those of Mexican origin… women, those from the LGBTQ+ community”.

Mayor Khan’s lecture on the hardships of being a Muslim in 2020 rankled with some social media users, coming so soon after multiple radical Islamic terrorist attacks across Europe, which saw a schoolteacher beheaded for “blasphemy” near Paris, Christians slaughtered in church in Nice, and a number of people massacred by a gunman in Vienna, among other incidents.

Some also disputed whether President Trump’s war of words with Khan could really be said to have no other reasonable motive besides anti-Muslim animus, given the leftist lobbied for the American leader to be denied a state visit and publicly denounced him in highly disparaging terms on multiple occasions.

Last September, for example, Khan penned an article branding the President the “global poster boy for white nationalism”, just a few months after signing a letter accusing the American — who appears to have won more minority support than any Republican for 60 years in the ongoing election — of “blatant racism” against “Congresswomen of Colour”.

Trump, for his part, has tended to focus his criticism of Khan on his mayoral record, which has been marred by dramatic increases in violent crime, particularly knife attacks.”

  11. Big Brother: European Union Moves to Ban Encryption on Messaging Apps Like WhatsApp (breitbart, Nov 10, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/11/10/european-union-moves-to-ban-encrypted-messaging-apps-like-whatsapp/

“Internal documents from the European Union Council reveal that the bloc is seeking to ban end-to-end encryption on messaging services such as WhatsApp and Signal, following the recent Islamic terror attacks in France and Austria.

A draft Council of the European Union resolution on encryption, dated November 6th, said that while the EU considers encryption to be a useful tool for protecting the privacy of citizens, it has hindered law enforcement agencies ability to combat terrorism, organised crime, child sexual abuse, and other cybercrime.

Therefore the resolution called for the EU to mandate that messaging services that use end-to-end encryption to create backdoor keys for governments to be able to access private messages, destroying any semblance of privacy messaging apps provide.

The document, which was released by the Austrian public broadcaster Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF), said: “For competent authorities, access to electronic evidence is not only essential to conduct successful investigations and thereby bring criminals to justice, but also to protect victims and help ensure security.”

“Protecting the privacy and security of communications through encryption and at the same time upholding the possibility for competent authorities in the area of security and criminal justice to lawfully access relevant data for legitimate, clearly defined purposes in fighting serious and/or organised crimes and terrorism, including in the digital world, are extremely important. Any actions taken have to balance these interests carefully.”

The Austrian broadcaster pointed to the Islamic terror attack in Vienna last month as an impetus for the bloc seeking to remove the privacy protections. However, the broadcaster went on to note that Austria’s counterterrorism agency, the BVT, was warned by Slovakian intelligence about the threat posed by the terrorist, and therefore having a backdoor into the messaging services would have been a moot point.

Ray Walsh, a digital privacy expert at ProPrivacy, told the tech website IT Pro: “A European Union move to ban encryption from messaging platforms like WhatsApp and Signal would be a massive threat to data privacy as we know it. It is a disappointing change in approach from the EU which has previously been pro-privacy for European citizens.”

“Security experts understand that the EU government’s contention that ‘strong encryption technology’ can coexist with purposefully designed backdoors is contrary to the principles of robust cryptography,” Walsh said.

The privacy expert went on to warn: “Not only is breaking encryption is a threat to national security, but the ability to communicate privately is a vital part of any free society.”

The resolution is set to be presented to the Council of Permanent Representatives of the EU Member States (COREPER), where it can pass without any debate as it is already classified as an “I-item”. It is unclear, however, if the European Commission will take up the resolution, a necessary step before any resolution would become law.

The threat alone of dismantling privacy protections on messaging services has sparked a widespread backlash.

Lord Daniel Moylan pointed to the story as a justification for the United Kingdom leaving the EU, writing: “Thank God we got out. It would have been excruciating hearing Remainers defend this.”

The British anti-government surveillance campaign group Big Brother Watch warned: “Make no mistake: they are trying to ban the right to a private conversation.””

  12. Claim: French Prez Macron to Demand EU End Customs Union with Turkey (breitbart, Nov 10, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/11/10/claim-french-prez-macron-demand-eu-end-customs-union-turkey/

“French President Emmanuel Macron will demand the European Union dissolve a customs union agreement with Turkey in response to aggressive rhetoric from Ankara, a new claim contends.

The French government is expected to present the proposal to the European Council in a pushback against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s aggressive policies in the eastern Mediterranean, along with recent comments directed at the French leader.

Broadcaster Europe1 published the claims in a report, which states that it had received information that the Macron government was looking to sanction Turkey after President Erdogan had referred to Macron as having mental issues.

The customs union allows Turkey to have tax-free commercial relations with the EU member states. The abolition of the union would likely greatly impact the Turkish economy, which has already seen a rapid decline in terms of the purchasing power of the lira.

While the French government can propose to dissolve the customs union, the process will require the agreement of other EU member states. Some, such as Greece, have already called for sanctions but others, like Germany — a longtime Turkish ally — have resisted the idea.

France has stood in support of Greece since Turkey launched the research vessel, Oruc Reis, into territory Greece has claimed is part of its exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

The Greek government put its armed forces on alert over the matter in July, and tensions between the two countries have remained high for months.

In September, France deployed its aircraft carrier, the Charles De Gaulle, to the eastern Mediterranean while former Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu warned that Erdogan’s aggressive moves could lead to a military confrontation.

“Unfortunately our government is not doing a proper diplomatic performance,” Davutoglu said.

Erdogan has also called for the boycott of French goods after President Macron vowed to crack down on Islamist ideologies following the murder of teacher Samuel Paty.”

  13. Report: Apologies for Terrorism ‘Exploding’ in France After Samuel Paty Murder (breitbart, Nov 10, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/11/10/report-apologies-terrorism-surge-france-samuel-paty-murder/

“A French judicial source has claimed that threats and apologists for terrorism have surged in the weeks following the beheading of teacher Samuel Paty.

Since the last week of October, French investigators have opened 200 separate cases for what the French legal system calls apologies for terrorism, as well as death threats and incitement to hatred in connection to the beheading of the 47-year-old history and geography teacher, who was murdered by an Islamic radical Chechen refugee.

A judicial source told French daily newspaper Sud Ouest that the number of threats has surged in the weeks since the murder.

“It’s exploding! There are many threats against public figures, the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, several ministers, deputies, teachers,” the source said, adding that many of the threats referenced beheading.

In Paris, the prosecutor’s office has claimed to have opened at least 70 investigations into people praising the murder of Paty along with threats of violence referencing the murder.

Paris prosecutor Rémy Heitz said that the cases came from radicalised people but also from “young people” and some with mental illnesses.

French Minister of Justice Éric Dupond-Moretti has also called on prosecutors to be more proactive in prosecuting those who make threats towards teachers, public officials, or law enforcement officials.

There have also been several prosecutions of those who have praised the terror attack that took the life of Mr Paty, which was motivated by the fact he showed cartoons of Mohammed published by Charlie Hebdo to his class during a lesson on free speech.

In one case, a 43-year-old man in an Amiens prison was sentenced to eight months after he praised the attack in front of fellow inmates, and a 42-year-old man in the commune of Colmar was handed six months for praising the attack to his probation officer.

According to a report from earlier this month, two 12-year-old children in Strasbourg were placed under investigation after allegedly praising the attack, as well.”

Mohammad, from the very character of his religion, could not let the sword rust in its sheath so long as Islam had not attained supremacy. Consequently he continued to lead his followers on warlike expeditions against both Jews and heathen. The fact that he himself took part in all the fights was a great spur to the spirit and courage of his troops; more than once his life was in danger, but a higher power protected God’s envoy; the sword fell from the hostile leader who waved it above his head. Since the Battle of Ohod, most of the attacks had been directed against the Jews, who showed themselves more and more hostile to the new religion.

  16. Al-Azhar will internationally sue those insulting Prophet, grand imam tells French FM

‘We reject calling terrorism ‘Islamic,” El-Tayyeb said, adding that everyone has to immediately stop using this term, as it hurts the feelings of Muslims worldwide and it contradicts the truth known by everyone.

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, the world’s leading Sunni Islamic institution, Ahmed El-Tayyeb expressed categorical rejection of the act of insulting Prophet Muhammad and vowed to sue perpetrators at international courts, Al-Azhar said in a statement.

His remarks came in a Sunday meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, who is visiting Egypt to help de-escalate tensions that followed France’s President Emmanuel Macron’s comments on Islam.

Macron defended the right to draw cartoons on Prophet Muhammad, saying that France would not renounce the cartoons. Also, several campaigns were launched in the Islamic world, mainly on social media, calling for the boycott of French products as a response.

If you consider insulting our prophet freedom of speech, we categorically reject it, the statement read.

“I am the first to protest freedom of speech when this freedom offends any religion, not only Islam,” the grand imam said.

“Europe is indebted to our prophet Muhammad and to our religion, due to the light this religion has introduced to all humanity,” El-Tayyeb said.

“We reject calling terrorism ‘Islamic,'” El-Tayyeb said, adding that everyone has to immediately stop using this term, as it hurts the feelings of Muslims worldwide and it contradicts the truth known by everyone.

El-Tayyeb affirmed that Muslims around the world reject terrorism acting under the cover of religion, and stressed that Islam and its prophet has nothing to do with terrorism.

“Al-Azhar represents the voice of nearly two billion Muslims, and I said terrorists do not represent us and we are not responsible for their actions. I announced that in all international forums, in Paris, London, Geneva, the United States, Rome, Asian countries and everywhere.”

“When we say this, we do not say it as an apology. Islam is above apologies,” he added.

“I and this Al-Azhar turban carried the roses at the Bataclan Square — in Paris — and declared rejection of any form of terrorism.”

“Violations are available among followers of all religions and under all systems. If we say that Christianity is not responsible for the New Zealand incident, we also have to say that Islam is not responsible for the terrorism of those fighting in its name.”

The grand imam also referred to the educational and ideological role of Al-Azhar across time in facing terrorism, saying that it put new curricula affirming that terrorists are criminals and that Islam is not responsible for their acts.

El-Tayyeb hailed Le Drian’s remarks during the crisis sparked by Marcon’s controversial statements, saying his remarks represented the voice of wisdom.

In press remarks, Le Drian affirmed France’s deep respect to Islam, including its role in culture, history, and French sciences, as well as to Al-Azhar’s Grand Imam El-Tayyeb’s role in calling for tolerance and moderation.

He added that Muslims in France are an integral part of the French society and are able to practice their rituals under the state’s protection.

The only battle that should be fought along with partners in Egypt is that against terrorism and extremism and those who distort the religion for political purposes, Le Drian said.

The French minister said his country differentiates between Islam and those extremists, affirming that Muslims are the main victims of terrorism.

“With a great institution such as Al-Azhar, we have to fight against this combination of extremists’ religious hatred and delusions,” he said.

Palestinian political researcher Sheikh Ahmad Al-Khatwani said in a November 5, 2020 lecture at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem that once established, an Islamic state would be able to easily conquer Rome and liberate Al-Andalus, Kashmir, Chechnya, East Turkestan, India, and other Muslims lands.

He said that the Islamic state would extinguish polytheism in the Vatican and that its only concerns would be Jihad and the spread of Islam.

In addition, Al-Khatwani said that the Islamic state would reject the United Nations and any form of international law, and that it would conceal its Islamic goals when necessary to spread Islam and rule the world.

He added that the Islamic state would not fear defeat or death.

    https://sputniknews.com/europe/202011101081118888-macron-says-terror-threat-is-european-reality-calls-for-coordinated-eu-response/

“A spate of terrorist attacks has rocked Europe recently, with two deadly attacks taking place in France and one in the Austrian capital Vienna in October and November.

French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that terrorism threat has become a new European reality and called on the European countries to come up with a coordinated and quick answer to it. Macron suggested that the Schengen Area must be reformed and that the EU needs to rethink the area’s open border policy.

He clarified that while the EU wants to keep the Schengen borders open, it also wants them to be better protected. Macron added that it is the protection of the external borders that is at stake, not a limitation of the right to asylum, which in his opinion has been “misused”.

The French president went on to speak in favour of establishing a European internal security council. Macron highlighted that the creation of “common databases”, the exchange of information between European countries, and the “strengthening of criminal policies” should be among the measures implemented in response to the increasing terrorist attacks.

“We must reform Schengen so that it becomes a security space”, Macron said.
His statements were partially echoed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who argued that countries need to know who enters and leaves the Schengen Area. The chancellor also stressed that a new entry-exit system is planned to be put in place at the Schengen Area’s external borders in 2022 to monitor the arrivals and the departures of non-Schengen residents and collect data on them, including biometric.

Merkel strongly condemned all kinds of religious hate and assured that European countries are not trying to set Islam against Christianity.

    Europe Shaken by Terrorist Attacks
The statements on reforming the Schengen Area by Macron and Merkel come in the wake of three recent terror attacks that took place in France and Austria. The most recent incident occurred in Vienna, where a Daesh* member killed four people using firearms.

The attack came mere weeks after three people were killed at the Notre-Dame basilica in Nice, France by a 21-year-old man of Tunisian origin using a 12-inch (30-centimetre) blade on 29 October. The man arrived in France days prior to the attack via the Italian island of Lampedusa.

unities around the world and reportedly infuriated the Daesh terrorist group.

  23. Pakistan army suspends troops for arrest of ex-PM son-in-law (abcnews, Nov 10, 2020)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/pakistan-army-suspends-troops-arrest-pm-son-law-74124227

“Pakistan’s military Tuesday announced the suspension of a number of intelligence officers and troops accused by opposition leaders last month of abducting a provincial police chief to pressure him to arrest the son-in-law of exiled former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

The unusual action by the military comes three weeks after Sharif’s son-in-law, Mohammad Safdar, was briefly detained after opposition parties held a rally in the port city of Karachi against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Safdar, a retired army captain who is also an opposition politician, was taken from a hotel room, where he was staying with his wife. The arrest came after he visited the mausoleum of Mohammad Ali Jinnah, who led the movement for independence from Britain in 1947 and is a revered figure in Muslim-majority Pakistan.

While at the tomb, Safdar led a crowd in chanting: “Give respect to the vote!” The slogan is viewed in Pakistan as criticism of the country’s military, which has ruled the country of 220 million people — directly or indirectly — for most of its history.

Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League opposition party at the time insisted Safdar was arrested only after troops abducted provincial police chief Mushtaq Mehar to pressure him to sign orders for Safdar’s arrest.

Neither Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence nor the paramilitary Rangers at the time commented and it was unclear how many intelligence agents and troops were suspended.

Several police officers last month responded by applying for a leave of absence over the alleged mistreatment of the police chief. It prompted Pakistan’s army chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa to order a probe into the matter.

In Tuesday’s statement, the military did not acknowledge Mehar’s abduction saying only that the troops and intelligence officers were reacting to the “desecration” of the Jinnah tomb.

There was no immediate comment Tuesday from the Sindh police but Safdar’s politician wife Maryam Nawaz led a rally in the north in which participants shouted: “Give respect to the vote!”

Sharif, Safdar’s father-in-law, has had a long, uneasy relationship with the military. On Tuesday, he took to Twitter to reject the military action, saying it amounts to scapegoating junior officers and shielding “the real culprits.”

Sharif served as Pakistan’s prime minister three times. A court in 2017 ousted him from power over corruption allegations. He has been staying in London since November after being allowed to receive medical treatment abroad.”

“Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated President-elect Joe Biden on Tuesday, expressing Turkey’s determination to work closely with the new administration.

“I believe that the strong cooperation and alliance between our countries will continue to contribute to world peace in the future, as it has done so far,” Erdogan said in his congratulatory message, made available by his office.

Turkey was one of a handful of countries, along with Russia, that had not commented on Biden’s victory, which was announced Saturday. A senior Turkish official said Monday that Ankara would wait until legal challenges to the U.S. election results were resolved and for the outcome to be finalized. 25. More Than 10,000 Dead People Cast Ballots in Michigan, Analysis Shows

More than 10,000 people confirmed or suspected dead have returned their mail-in ballots to vote in Michigan, according to an analysis of the state’s election data.

About 9,500 voters confirmed dead through the Social Security Death Index (SSDI) are marked in the state’s mail voting database as having returned ballots. Another nearly 2,000 are 100 years old or more and aren’t listed as known living centenarians.

The analysis was provided by Richard Baris, director of Big Data Poll.

The data indicates that somebody else was trying to vote on behalf of these people.

“It’s also entirely possible that some of them aren’t even real people,” Baris told The Epoch Times via email. “If someone is 110 or some ridiculous age, we should have their death record but do not.”

Americans older than 110 are exceedingly rare; only a handful of such seniors are known to live in Michigan.

According to the 2010 Census, there were 1,729 centenarians in Michigan

  26. Trump Campaign Calls for Full Hand-Count of Ballots in Georgia

The Trump campaign has called on Georgia’s top elections official to take steps related to the planned vote recount to ensure “confidence in our electoral process,” including verifying voter eligibility and a full hand-count of all ballots.

Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.), who leads the Trump campaign’s recount team in Georgia, made the request to Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in a statement on Tuesday, calling for a series of election integrity-related measures amid allegations of voter irregularities.

Collins asked for a full comparison of absentee ballots cast and in-person and provisional ballots cast, and for carrying out a voter eligibility check to make sure no felons or other ineligible individuals cast a vote in the state.

“Most importantly, the Secretary of State should announce a full hand-count of every ballot cast in each and every county due to widespread allegations of voter irregularities, issues with voting machines, and poll watcher access,” Collins added.

  27. Italian PM’s Office to Fund Politically-Correct Training for Journalists (breitbart, Nov 10, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/11/10/italian-pms-office-fund-politically-correct-training-journalists/

“The Department of Equal Opportunities in the Italian Prime Minister’s Office has pledged nearly €78,000 to programmes that include teaching journalists politically correct language on migration and LGBT issues.

Around 500 Italian journalists are likely to participate in the programmes which allegedly intend to educate journalists to avoid terms that may appear “offensive” and “divisive”.

According to a report from Italian newspaper Il Giornale, the money will be spent on several different projects, including two LGBT cultural events, one of which will examine “trans cinema” and “transsexualism in the process of migration”.

One programme will be run by the Carta di Roma association, which was established in 2011 “with the goal of implementing the Journalist’s Code of Conduct on immigration”, according to the group’s website.

The group states one of its main goals as a “collaboration between media operators, university institutes, civil society organisations and editors, with the goal of promoting respect and guarantee of the rights of asylum seekers, refugees, migrants or minorities in general”.

The programme, which will last until May of 2021, comes just two years after the Federazione Nazionale Stampa Italiana (FNSI), a trade union representing Italian journalists, demanded reporters stop using various terms when writing about migrants.

Such terms included “clandestine migrant” which, according to the FNSI, should be replaced with “irregular migrant” or writers should instead refer to migrants as being in the country “without regular permission”.

The association stated that the term “illegal migrant” was especially troublesome as it “contains a negative judgment a priori, suggests the idea that the migrant acts in the dark, secretly, as a criminal”.

In 2017, the European Union-funded project “Respect Words” released a guideline for journalists that called on writers not to mention ethnic backgrounds of migrant criminals and to work to counter what it labelled “hate propaganda”.”

  28. Indiana Woman Gets More than 6 Years in Prison for Funding Islamic State (breitbart, Nov 10, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/middle-east/2020/11/10/indiana-woman-gets-more-6-years-prison-funding-islamic-state/

“A judge sentenced an Indiana woman who pleaded guilty to funding the Islamic State (ISIS) to six and a half years in prison, the Justice Department announced Monday.

U.S. District Court Judge Philip P. Simon sentenced Samantha Elhassani, 35, who used to reside in Elkhart, Indiana, to the six and a half year term with three years of supervised release after Elhassani pleaded guilty to funding the terrorist group, the Associated Press reported.

Elhassani struck a plea deal with prosecutors, who agreed to drop more serious conspiracy charges and put forth a more lenient sentence.

Elhassani has told media outlets that her husband and brother-in-law bullied her into joining the terrorist group in 2014, the Times reported.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said her husband and her brother-in-law joined the terrorist group, ISIS, and Elhassani made three trips to Hong Kong between November 2014 and April 2015, carrying more than $30,000 in gold and cash to help fund the group.

WSBT reported that Elhassani’s husband ultimately died in a drone strike while fighting for ISIS in 2017. She was detained in a Kurdish detention center with her four children after ISIS’s fall in Raqqa.

Elhassani was later flown back to America and transferred to U.S. custody in 2018.”
