Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. The right has never had an official plan to divide any country and society, but the left has. It has taught this plan in schools and preached it for decades. Because of it we are at each other’s throats but don’t seem to know why. Frankfurt School acolytes who taught it are now hiding under their desks snickering rather than owning up to the mess they purposefully created. Not just that, but they try to foist it upon President Trump. Pretty cute move.

    The left has institutionalized division, for example, in Dystopia’s state-enshrined multiculturalism imposed by Trudeau Sr. Affirmative action policies everywhere have used the state to separate the worthy from success, and the unmerited from their rightfully lower place. Hearing preachers of the inclusion and diversity holy mantra should compel us to tar and feather such purveyors of false goodness. Hearing the rank and file repeat these corrosive messages should compel us to tell them to simply get a grip. Hearing Michel Obama’s cynical spittle is like standing in the grey cold drizzle knowing the bus you’re waiting for isn’t coming, and if it does it isn’t taking you where you want to go. She hates politics so she won’t leave it. Her husband hates us so he won’t leave. Many people who are very bad for us such as Bernie Sanders, the Clintons, any Cuomo, won’t leave. Why? Because society has not shouted them out of the room for being disingenuous liars. Why? Because half the people have lost the common sense to see through the nonsense. Why? Too much lousy education or too low an IQ.

    The adults in the room will start standing up, now, because it is lousy job but somebody has to do it.

  2. 8/19/20 Iraqi Driver Accused of Highway Crash Terror Attack in Germany

    A man who deliberately rammed into a number of vehicles on a stretch of Berlin highway got out of his car and shouted “Allahu Akhbar,” according to local reports.

    Authorities in the German capital are investigating religious extremism as a motive behind the actions of the 30-year-old Iraqi who apparently drove into cars, motorcycles and a scooter driver, local news outlet RBB reported.

    After his car was parked, the man got out of his vehicle, put a box on the street and claimed it was a bomb. Police opened the box with a high pressure water jet and it was found to only contain tools, while no traces of explosives were found in his car.
    Six people were injured, three of them seriously, in the series of crashes in the Tempelhof area of Berlin on Tuesday night which led to a complete closure of the A100 road, which is one of the capital’s main traffic arteries.

    The incident closed the motorway in both directions and caused delays of several hours for around 300 people stuck on the highway.

    Berlin’s attorney general, Martin Steltner, said that that the statements made by the driver, who has been arrested, suggested a religiously motivated act, AFP reported.

      BERLIN (Reuters) – The suspected perpetrator of a series of car crashes on a Berlin motorway on Tuesday evening has cited Islamist motives but appears to have acted alone, German police and prosecutors said on Wednesday.

      “Comments made by the suspect after his criminal acts suggest a religious Islamist motivation,” the joint statement from the Berlin police and the public prosecutors office said.

      There are also indications that the 30-year-old suspect had psychological problems, the statement said, adding that investigators so far had not found any hints that the suspect was a member of any terror group.

      Police arrested the suspect at the scene after a device in his car which the man said was dangerous turned out to be a tool box. The man is now accused of attempted murder.

      The apparently deliberate crashes, in which the suspect hit several motorcyclists with his car, left six people wounded, three of them seriously, the fire department said.

      Six people were injured, three of them severely, after a man provoked a series of accidents on the city’s A100 motorway on Tuesday night. The scene of the incidents can be seen with several markings on the road.

      Before the arrest, the man reportedly shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ and threatened the officers, saying he had explosives on the roof of his vehicle. The agents, however, found only tools in the box the attacker placed on top of the vehicle.

    “A group of migrants blocked a road near the famous “hot gates” of Thermopylae in Greece on Monday morning to protest living conditions at a nearby migrant camp.

    The protest saw around 30 migrants, including several children, block the old national road near the area made famous by the 300 Spartans led by King Leonidas that defended the “hot gates” from the Persian Empire in 480 BC.

    According to a report from Greek newspaper Proto Thema, the migrants had come from a nearby reception centre and were protesting living conditions and delayed relocation requests.

    The migrants sat in the middle of the motorway, holding signs stating “we want out rights” and blocking traffic before police removed them.

    While Greece has seen a substantial decline in migrant arrivals in recent months, largely due to the outbreak fo the Wuhan coronavirus, many reception facilities are still greatly overcrowded, particularly on the islands in the Aegean sea.

    The Greek government has worked to transfer many migrants from the overcrowded islands to the mainland, but the move has been met with protests from residents.

    Earlier this year, before the coronavirus outbreak, migrants on the island of Lesbos clashed with police after a demonstration became violent. The migrants had left the notorious Moria camp and travelled to the nearby city of Mytilene where they protested the government’s stricter immigration policy.

    Tensions between locals and migrants on the Agean islands remain high, with several robberies by migrants reported in recent weeks, including that of a Greek Orthodox chapel in Chios last month.

    Last week, a Greek man in Chios was arrested by police on hate crime charges after writing a post on Facebook demanding other residents act against migrants destroying local property, stating that the migrants were “wanted: alive or dead.””

    Tim Loughton, a former minister in the Cameron-Clegg liberal coalition government and Acting Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee, made the call amid claims by a Border Force source that illegal migrants housed in hotels at the taxpayers’ expense are not being monitored properly, and in some cases are even going shopping using food vouchers.

    The thought that “people who have entered illegally should be treated more leniently than tourists returning legitimately is complete nonsense and makes my constituents’ blood boil,” Loughton told The Telegraph — although Home Secretary Priti Patel’s Home Office has denied the Border Force source’s claims.

    “Since we introduced quarantine measures in June, those who have come to the UK in illegally facilitated crossings have been placed in accommodation which allows them to self-isolate for 14 days,” a spokesman insisted.

    “Food, toiletries and essential items are provided so that [migrants] do not need to leave [their] accommodation. They are not issued with food vouchers and do not have to shop for food,” they claimed.

    Either way, Loughton insisted that the only real solution to Britain’s ongoing migrant boat crisis is the obvious one; namely taking the boats’ occupants back to the safe, first world EU member-state they set sail from immediately…”

    “Migrants trying to reach high-welfare northern European nations being frustrated by Hungary’s southern border fence are digging tunnels in a bid to cross undetected, a new tactic that has otherwise been seen on the U.S.-Mexico border.

    The emerging phenomenon comes five years after the first peak of the Europe Migrant Crisis, when Hungary bucked the continent-wide trend of open borders by declaring itself closed to illegals. The nation sat on the most direct path into Europe from the Balkan route, and the creation of a fence directed the migratory stream onto a longer way around its territory. But as migration starts to rise again after a coronavirus-forced lull, illegals are on the move. They are not just going around Hungary’s border — they are attempting to go underneath it, with authorities discovering several tunnels.

    When Hungary’s southern border fence was first completed in 2015, it was hailed for having reduced illegal crossings to pre-migrant crisis levels. This was no mean feat — in the space of less than one month, the number of illegals fell from up to 10,000 a day to just a dozen a day.

    But the migrants travelling to Europe’s high-welfare, lax-border control states in the north remain determined and — perhaps even more importantly — so do the people smugglers, who make fortunes trading in human misery. Using tactics best known on the U.S.-Mexico border, or at Israel’s border, migrants are now attempting to tunnel under Hungary’s frontier and avoid the attention of police.

    Several such tunnels have now been found this year, with the frequency of discoveries rising with time. Earlier this month it was revealed in Budapest freesheet Pesti Hirlap that some 18,000 illegals had tried to cross the Hungarian frontier this year so far. Hungarian authorities had arrested over 200 traffickers — the largest number since 2015, the year the fence was built.

    Last week, another one of these tunnels was discovered. Rajmund Fekete, department head at the Cabinet Office of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, relayed how the situation on the ground had panned out in exclusive comments to Breitbart London. He said:

    …at 2305hrs, on August 13th, twenty-five illegal migrants were arrested by the [Hungarian] police. A few kilometres from the scene of their arrest, during the subsequent dawn investigation of the surrounding [border] area, police also discovered an opening [in the ground].

    The tunnel had been excavated from Serbian territory, transecting the [international] frontier, travelling thereby underneath [Hungary’s] interim security border fence. The diameter of the exit passage on the Hungarian side measures some 50 centimetres, the vertical depth of the excavation was 1.3 metres [below the surface of the border].

    This is far from the first incident during which migrants have attempted through the use of tunnels [they have excavated] to cross illegally into [sovereign] Hungarian territory.

    Speaking at the time of the arrests, Prime Minister Orbán’s chief security advisor Dr György Bakondi — the retired senior border guard officer who was responsible for implementing the border fence in 2015 — said the emergence of the tunnel tactics was akin to those seen at “U.S.-Mexican, Greek-Turkish, and Bulgarian-Turkish borders”. Dr Bakondi said: “The Hungarian authorities make every effort around the clock to detect and to apprehend illegal migrants in the vicinity of the border.” He added that the government was alert to the risk of migrants potentially spreading coronavirus.

    When Bakondi launched the border fence in 2015, he said Hungary’s border protection benefitted from a “triple defence” — not only was there a fence and men to defend it, but they were also backed up by law allowing the space to be governed effectively. This, it appears, remains the case today. Indeed, Hungary’s own police frequently boast of illegals being sent back south after being captured by officers.

    The situation where Hungary is able to return illegals over their border stands in sharp contrast with the condition now developing in the English Channel, for instance. Not only does the British government do nothing to discourage illegal migrants from making the dangerous journey, but it has also been alleged to take an active role in facilitating the travel, and does not return migrants once they reach the UK.

    The Hungarian government is, however, taking further steps to deter tunnel digging. In early August, it was reported the border force was extending the fence underground with a “net”, which would make digging underneath more difficult, along with drones and other unspecified “technical devices” to detect underground activity. These precautions may be needed more than ever as rising numbers of migrants gather in south-eastern Europe, again heading north.

    As reported in Hungarian media this week, over 7,000 migrants are now camped out on the Bosnian-Croatian border, hoping to head north — possibly through Hungary and beyond. Already, some 250 migrants have gathered near the Hungarian border, reports Hirado.

    In all, tens of thousands of people are said to be on the move through the Balkan region. In February — before the coronavirus lockdowns that saw many migrants prevented from travelling — the Bosnian government warned that 100,000 migrants were heading for northern Europe. Calling for reinforcements, Bosnian security minister Fahrudin Radoncic said at the time: “Our border is very permeable. We don’t have enough [guards] or material resources… We are missing at least 1,200 border guards. In practice, it currently looks like a police officer has to monitor 25 kilometres of the border. That is impossible!”

    Budapest radio reported on Tuesday that Hungary’s Orbán had dispatched police experienced with migration and border control to Bosnia to offer advisory support.”

    “The Greek government is preparing to push the European Union to introduce sanctions against Turkey if the country’s provocations in the Eastern Mediterranean continue.

    The Greek and Turkish governments are expected to renew talks on August 24th. But Greece is wary that the Turkish government under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will not halt its planned seismic research in the Greek exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

    Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to raise the issue at an EU leaders conference this week. But according to a report from newspaper Kathimerini, the government is waiting until an informal foreign ministers summit later this month to push for sanctions.

    The paper notes that the 27th is the deadline for a Turkish government response to a request from the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) which wants to conduct research off the coast of several Greek islands, including Crete.

    The Turkish navy is deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean as Greek armed forces also remain on alert.

    Both Italy and Egypt have also submitted maritime economic deals with Greece that are expected to be taken to the Greek parliament for approval next week. The arrangement conflicts with an agreement between Turkey and Libya that Turkey has used as justification for its exploratory research.

    The tensions in the Mediterranean have not been limited to just Turkey and Greece. Turkey has earned the criticism of several other countries, including Egypt, which opposed Turkish-backed militias in Libya, and more recently, France.

    French President Emmanuel Macron announced he would be increasing French naval presence in the Eastern Mediterranean and has expressed full support for the Greek government.

    As a result, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu warned the French over escalating existing tensions in the area.

    Last month, Macron also backed the idea of the EU pursuing sanctions against Turkey over its activities.”

      • FACT-CHECK: The Truth Behind the Conspiracy Theories About The Banned Facebook Video ‘Plandemic: Indoctornation’

        In May of this year, a 75-minute video containing conspiracy theories about the COVID-19 pandemic went viral, but it was soon banned by social media giants like Facebook to avoid misinformation.

        Now, the sequel has arrived, but the internet giants have prepared for its imminent arrival.

        According to a recent report by TechTimes, the short video is entitled Plandemic: Indoctornation and is available on Freedom Platform TV, which is also behind the short video.

        As with the first video, Plandemic 2 is filled with conspiracy theories and misleading statements, attacking several personalities like Dr. Anthony Fauci and Bill Gates, along with PolitiFact, a fact-checking website that has fact-checked both conspiracy videos.

        To prevent further misinformation, here are the truths behind the claims made in Plandemic 2.

        Claim #1
        “In 2003, the Center for Disease Control saw the possibility of a gold strike. And that was the coronavirus outbreak that happened in Asia … they sought to patent it, and they made sure that they controlled the proprietary rights to the disease, to the virus, and to its detection and all of the measurement of it,” quote from David Martin, founding CEO of M?CAM Inc.

        According to PolitiFact, this statement is misleading.

        The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) did apply for a patent in 2003 that covers the genetic material of human coronavirus and how to detect it, along with other government agencies, companies, and non-profit companies.

        The agency won its application in 2007, but it does not mean they have the “proprietary rights” to the virus to ensure the virus, as well as products from the virus, are available to the public.

        Matthew Rimmer, an intellectual property law professor from the Queensland University of Technology, said that it was known as “defensive patenting,” which is a way to ensure that “public research and communication were not jeopardized by commercial parties seeking exclusive private control.”

        The SARS-CoV-2 virus is a “laboratory-designed organism,” according to Dr. Meryl Nass, an internal medicine specialist.

        This is one of the most common claims since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it has long been debunked with a scientific paper published in March 2020, confirming that the virus is naturally occurring and is in no way created by men in a lab.

        Nevertheless, scientists are still not sure how the virus made its jump from bats to humans.

        Claim #3

        Mikki Willis, a filmmaker, claimed that Dr. Anthony Fauci and even Bill Gates, “a man with no medical training,” knew as early as January 2017 that a pandemic was coming.

        The claim was made about Event 201, a simulation designed to plan for a global pandemic.

        They used a simulated novel zoonotic coronavirus that came from bats to pigs, then finally to humans.

        Again, this statement is misleading.

        The John Hopkins Center for Health Security has also cleared that they did not make a prediction during the exercise and used a fictional coronavirus as there were two outbreaks of human coronaviruses in the last 20 years.

        Furthermore, Dr. Fauci did say in 2017 that the Trump administration would face a “surprise outbreak” but did not specifically predict the COVID-19 pandemic and, instead, pertained to a wide range of diseases like HIV/AIDS and the West Nile virus.

        Willis also said there was a study in 2018 published in the Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health that concluded over 490,000 children in India were paralyzed due to a Gates-supported polio vaccine.

        According to the fact-checking site, the paper was real and that it found a correlation between the polio vaccinations and the non-polio acute flaccid paralysis (AFP).

        Nevertheless, the paper had received criticisms for missing out on several essential variables and its methodology wherein they checked the symptoms of children ages between five and 15 even when the vaccine campaign focused on children under the age of five.

        Additionally, polio is only one of the reasons that might have caused the paralysis as the Guillain-Barre Syndrome was also a leading cause.

      Australians are likely to face mandatory coronavirus vaccinations if Prime Minister Scott Morrison gets his wish.

      The nation is a step closer to gaining access to a vaccine, with the Federal Government securing an international deal to produce a vaccine frontrunner locally if trials succeed.

      If that happens, Mr Morrison said Australia would have a target of 95 per cent vaccination, which would account for people with health conditions that prevented them being vaccinated.

      “I would expect it to be as mandatory as you could possibly make it,” he told Melbourne radio station 3AW.

      “There are always exemptions for any vaccine on medical grounds, but that should be the only basis.

      “We are talking about a pandemic that has destroyed the global economy and taken the lives of hundreds of thousands all around the world, and over 430 Australians here.”

      The Government has signed an agreement with UK-based drug company AstraZeneca to secure the potential COVID-19 vaccine, being developed by Oxford University.

      If the vaccine clears trials, the Federal Government would manufacture it and make it free for all Australians.

      But that’s unlikely to be until next year at the earliest, Mr Morrison said.

      Acting Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly said he expected strong voluntary take-up of any vaccine that was approved for use.

      “Of course, the first will be a voluntary call for people and I’m sure there will be long queues — socially distanced, of course — for this vaccine,” he said.

      “There will be very strong campaigns to encourage people and we’ve had experience before of linking vaccination with other programs, and all of those things will be looked at over time.”

      Government looking to upscale production

      Industry Minister Karen Andrews said biotech firm CSL would be the likely manufacturer of the vaccine in Australia if it proved successful.

      “Depending on the vaccine that is ultimately the candidate that we proceed with, there will be differences in how the vaccine is produced and what the requirements are.”

      She said while there was the capability to produce the potential vaccine in Australia, there was not yet capacity to manufacture enough doses for the entire population to access rapidly.

      “There is capacity to potentially produce in Australia but at much lower volumes than what we would need,” she said.

      “My focus is now on how we would scale up that production, but that work is well underway.”

      Labor’s health spokesman Chris Bowen was critical of the letter of intent, saying it lacked important detail.

      “It is not clear, despite the Prime Minister’s spin and rhetoric, that we have the manufacturing capacity in Australia to produce the AstraZeneca vaccine,” he said.

      “The Government is way behind on the substance. The Government was ready to go with a meme, they just weren’t ready to go with an agreement.”

      While the Prime Minister outlined his preference, he said the Government was yet to make a decision on making the vaccine mandatory.

      He said the Government would take medical advice on the rollout, including on who would get access first, with medical workers and the nation’s most vulnerable people likely to be a priority.

      During a round of morning media, Mr Morrison repeatedly said he expected pushback from anti-vaccination campaigners.

    He claimed the father had approached him and began the confrontation by hitting him with a stick. When questioned by police as to why he fled the scene, the migrant alleged he had not run away but simply left.

    Apollinaire Legros-Gimbert, the migrant’s lawyer, asked for a court delay to carry out a psychiatric assessment. He added that his client did not report the violence from the girl’s father because he was afraid of being deported.

    The attack is just the latest act of violence by a migrant in recent months in France. In May, a 20-year-old Afghan migrant admitted to bludgeoning to death the president of a local pro-migrant group in the city of Cherbourg with an iron rod after breaking into his home.

    In June, a Libyan migrant in the city of Bordeaux is alleged to have attempted to rape three women within the span of a single night, stabbing and slashing at one of the victims at least nine times.

    Muslim Americans, who have been complaining about a lack of representation on the main stage of the convention, were quick to voice disappointment in the campaign’s statement.

    The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a major Muslim advocacy group, issued a strongly worded statement in defence of Sarsour on Wednesday.

    “Our sister Linda Sarsour is an outspoken advocate of justice for all, including the Jewish community,” the statement said. “Smearing her and other American Muslims as anti-Semitic for supporting Palestinian human rights is predictable, despicable and unacceptable. Our political leaders must stop doing it.”

    Emgage Action, a Muslim-American political group that endorsed Biden, also raised concerns about the campaign’s statements against Sarsour.

    Sarsour posted a tweet addressing Bates, stressing that Muslim voters can help decide the election in key states.

    “Just came here to remind you that you need a coalition to defeat Donald Trump and that Muslim Americans are an important voter bloc in key states like Michigan, Wisconsin, Virginia, Texas, Pennsylvania & I know a little something about how to organize them,” she said.

    Zahra Billoo, a Muslim-American activist who faced a demonising campaign last year over tweets critical of Israel, said she was “disappointed but not surprised” by the Biden campaign’s attack on Sarsour.

    “This follows the trajectory of Islamophobia on the left, where faux progressives disregard that the Muslim vote is necessary to winning the election,” she told MEE.

    Billoo recalled a 2008 incident when Muslim women wearing hijab were told to leave the stage behind Barack Obama at a campaign rally in Detroit.

    “With the 2020 convention, we have no Muslim speakers and the Muslims who are organising in side events are being condemned by the campaign,” she said.

    Iram Ali, a political strategist and former staffer for the Elizabeth Warren for President campaign, also slammed the Biden campaign over its treatment of Sarsour.

    “One perpetual issue with the Democratic party apparatus is that they have yet to learn how to counteract anti-Muslim racism – and not actively harm Muslim communities,” Ali told MEE.

    “The Biden campaign reinforcing anti-Muslim talking points in response to the attacks on Linda Sarsour is a prime example that neither the party nor the campaign has learned lessons from the 2016 election or the last four years.”

    The attacks on Sarsour came as the DNC welcomed several Republicans, including former Ohio Governor John Kasich, on its virtual main stage.     Muslim Advocates, Americans for Immigrant Justice and the law firm King & Spalding LLP said in a letter on Tuesday that, since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, the ICE-run Krome Service Processing Center in Miami, Florida, has been serving pre-plated meals that include pork sausage, pork ribs and other pork dishes to Muslim detainees.

    “Because the facility’s halal meals have been persistently served spoiled and expired, Krome’s Muslim detainees must choose between eating pork or eating spoiled food,” Muslim Adovcates said in a statement on Tuesday.

    “At least 2-3 times a week, the pre-plated meals unambiguously include pork. Consequently, 2-3 times a week, Muslim detainees at Krome are forced to choose between faith and food,” stated the letter. “There is no reason, even in a pandemic, that Muslim detainees cannot receive unexpired, unspoiled halal meals, or, at the very least, pre-plated meals that do not require them to consume pork.”

    According to the groups, detainees have gotten sick from the pre-packaged expired halal food, reporting stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea.

    According to the Iraqi official, in 2019, the commission issued 13,649 corruption charges against 10,000 people including 50 ministers as well as 480 senior ranking officials.

    “Egyptian Islamic authorities have ruled on the issue of Muslims owning dogs, ruling in favor of “man’s best friend.”

    The debate over the cleanliness of dogs in relation to religious observance had become increasingly public in Egyptian society. Religious hardliners argued that dogs are unclean and contact with the furry creatures prohibits the ability for Muslims to pray.

    Egypt’s Grand Mufti Swaky Allam declared on August 17 that contact with dogs does not restrict the ability to pray, as dogs are “pure” animals.

    “If you perform wudu and there is saliva from the dog on your body or your garment, there is absolutely nothing wrong with praying and there is no need to repeat wudu or wash clothes,” he said in a televised statement on Sada al-Balad channel.

    “We adopt the Maliki doctrine here in Dar Al-Iftaa (Egypt’s Islamic advisory body) and have ruled on this issue based on it.”

    Public debate
    The issue over the ownership of dogs among Muslims had turned public after Osama al-Azhari, a religious advisor to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, was photographed “shaking hands” with a dog.

    Al-Azhari was subjected to online vitriol and insults over the picture, leading him to clarify his views. Al-Azhari invoked the story of the “seven sleepers.”

    The story of the seven sleepers revolves around a group of young men and a dog who, in the year 250, hid in a cave to escape religious persecution in Ephesus in current-day Turkey. The story, which is revered in Islam and Christianity, tells of the group’s reemergence three centuries later, when their Christian faith was no longer persecuted.

    Al-Azhari indicated that the seven sleepers were a “supreme example of goodness” and their keeping of a dog in their presence indicated that dogs meant the animal could not have any religious impurity.

    Pure without exception
    Popular religious singer Mahmoud al-Tohamy also received public abuse over his affection for dogs after sharing pictures with a dog on Facebook. He accompanied his picture with a statement on the religious status of dogs, saying, “Whoever says a dog is impure, tell them God did not create anything impure.”

    Al-Tohamy also invoked the story of the seven sleepers.

    “The Seven Sleepers’ dog died next to them and remained a companion to them all their lives, yet people found no objection to that,” he said.

    Professor in Islamic law, Ahmed Karima, supported Al-Tohamy’s statement. He outlined scripture that explicitly permits Muslims to own the animals for hunting or as guard dogs.

    Karima also repeated a statement by Imam Malik bin Anas, who had ruled that every living being was pure without exception.

    While the Grand Mufti’s ruling was well-received by Egypt’s dog-owners, several religious conservatives criticized the ruling. Egyptian law, however, is already settled on the matter. Intentionally killing a domesticated animal is punishable by up to six months in prison.”

    “In a grisly multiple homicide, 11 members of a family, including two pregnant women and eight children, were found with their throats slit in Muhammad Salah Indhar village, Pano Aqil, on Wednesday.

    The head of the family, Wahabullah Indhar, who is reportedly mentally ill, was arrested along with his four sons, Kaleem, Habibullah, Dur Muhammad and Hizbullah, on suspicion of their involvement in the murder.

    “The throats of all the slain persons were slit with a dagger,” Sukkur SSP Irfan Samo told the media, adding that the murder weapon had been recovered from the house where they were killed, which lies in the limits of the Cantt police station. The dagger is of a type normally used for slaughtering livestock.

    The arrested men, including Habibullah whose wife and two children were among those murdered, had fled from their home and were later rounded up in Adilpur.
