Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. About the damn mandatory masks: I sent out an email to quite a few of my contacts about their opinion. This was very interesting. I received many replies. All, except one, are terribly angry about mandatory masking.

    So angry that some had huge bold black capitalized letters with loads of accompanying videos and documentation.

    That said, today, I had a doctor appointment in a government-mandated clinic. Enclosed building with no open windows. As usual, I don’t sit down waiting, I walk around. So, I explored and ended up in two different administrative offices. NOBODY was wearing a mask!

    • Sassy–the mask is not for the person who wears it. It is supposed to block that person’s spit from falling on you. I try to wear some typeof eyeglasses to shield my eyes. The people I know who have becime ill were in direct contact with someone in an enclosed space for a length of time–much less contagious than measles, it seems. Hope this helps sort this out. I would prefer all activities outside to masking.

  4. ‘RUSSIA REPORT’: ONCE-MIGHTY BRITISH INTELLIGENCE HAS BEEN REDUCED TO REGURGITATING SENSATIONALIST BUZZFEED STORIES
    In 50 pages warning us of the evil ‘influence’ Russia has over the UK, the report fails to provide a single documented example of this influence at work. In short, the entire premise of the report (that Russia poses a significant threat to the UK) is not only not proven, but also not even demonstrated in any tangible way. That perhaps explains why the committee has chosen to be so harsh on the British government, accusing it of failing to live up to its responsibility to defend the nation. It appears that the committee knows in its bones that all these things are true, but also knows that it lacks any evidence to prove them. The evidence is there; it’s just that the government has failed to do its job and provide it. A proper intelligence investigation first finds the facts and then comes to a conclusion. It would seem as though the Intelligence and Security Committee wishes to go about it the other way – it has already reached its conclusion; now it wants the government to provide the evidence.   9. Wilders’ direct messages accessed in major Twitter hack

    During a major hack into Twitter’s systems last week, the perpetrators had access to the direct messages of 36 account, “including 1 elected official in the Netherlands”, Twitter Support said on Thursday. As far as is known, PVV leader Geert Wilders was the only Dutch politician to be hacked.

    Direct messages can be sent between Twitter users. They are not visible to others. According to Twitter, the hackers targeted a total of 130 accounts and posted tweets on 45 accounts. With 36 accounts they accessed the DM inbox, and with 8 accounts they downloaded the ‘Your Twitter Data’ archive.

    In the hack, Wilders’ profile picture was replaced by a caricature of a black man and his account was used to retweet conspiracy theories. This raised doubts about whether his account was hacked by the same perpetrators that hacked the other accounts. The other accounts were of high-profile Americans including presidential candidate Joe Biden, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. From these accounts the hackers tweeted requests for Bitcoin.

    Broadcaster NOS spoke to a Dutch hacker who says they were the one to break into Wilders’ account. According to the hacker, they did so with the help of an American.

    “To date, we have no indication that any other former or current elected official had their DMs accessed,” Twitter said, seemingly indicating that Biden’s private messages are safe.

    An alleged Israeli attack on an advanced centrifuge development and assembly plant at Iran’s Natanz uranium enrichment facility exhibited the complexity of the Stuxnet virus that sabotaged Iranian enrichment centrifuges a decade ago, experts and analysts said in a new report Friday.

    Officials with knowledge of the blast at Natanz last week told The New York Times that it was most likely the result of a bomb planted at the facility, potentially at a strategic gas line, but that it was not out of the question that a cyberattack was used to cause a malfunction that led to the explosion.

    New satellite photographs from Natanz “show far more extensive damage than was clear last week,” the Times reported.
    The Stuxnet virus was uncovered in 2010 and was widely reported to have been developed together by US and Israeli intelligence agencies. It penetrated Iran’s rogue nuclear program, taking control and sabotaging parts of its enrichment processes by speeding up its centrifuges. Up to 1,000 centrifuges out of 5,000 were eventually damaged by the virus, according to reports, setting back the nuclear program.
    The July 2 Natanz explosion was one of a series of mysterious blasts at Iranian strategic sites in recent weeks — the latest of which occurred Friday morning — which have once again been largely attributed to either Washington, Jerusalem, or both.

    Friday’s blast “appeared to come from the direction of a missile base,” The Times noted. “If it proves to have been another attack, it will further shake the Iranians by demonstrating, yet again, that even their best-guarded nuclear and missile facilities have been infiltrated.”

    Intelligence officials who assessed the damage to the Netanz centrifuge facility told The Times they believed it may have set the Iranians back by as much as two years.

    And others asserted that the latest alleged attacks indicated an emergent strategy by Israel and the US — also including Washington’s assassination of top general Qassem Soleimani earlier this year — to carry out covert strikes that will hamper Iran’s regional and nuclear objectives while stopping short of leading to all-out conflict. “Some officials said that a joint American-Israeli strategy was evolving — some might argue regressing — to a series of short-of-war clandestine strikes, aimed at taking out the most prominent generals of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and setting back Iran’s nuclear facilities,” The Times reported.

    “SCOTLAND Yard has told police officers not to “take the knee”, a gesture of peaceful protest and solidarity, while attending Black Lives Matter protests on duty.

    In light of the recent anti-racist protests across the country, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick said officers should refrain from taking a knee.

    She initially encouraged police officers to show their support for the anti-racist movement if they wished but has since adjusted her advice in recent briefings.

    She told LBC: “ I said we are not going to do that in a public-order or operational situation, and every briefing after that for the protests included ‘we will not be taking the knee’.”

    Taking the knee was popularised by NFL quarterback Colin Kapernick, who used the gesture as a way to respectfully protest during the US national anthem.

    Black Lives Matter protestors have also adopted it following the death of African American George Floyd, which sparked a wave of protests across the globe.

    Various police forces have previously been told they should be prepared to take the knee to defuse any potentially violent protests.

    Hertfordshire Constabulary warned not taking the knee “may become the focus of the protesters’ attention”.

    Back in June, two Met Police officers knelt while working at a protest in London after being encouraged by the crowd.

    In response to this, Commissioner Dick said she understood why those officers felt the need to show their support.

    She said: “I haven’t spoken to them personally but I imagine that they thought in order to keep that bit of the crowd a bit quieter and to show some respect and humility, some respect for what had happened to George Floyd, they took the knee.”

    However, she said she would not take the knee herself as she considers herself a “professional police officer”.

    She continued: “You can see, racing drivers, goodness knows who, footballers, people are taking the knee for all sorts of reasons.

    “I wouldn’t. I’m a professional police officer and I don’t think we should in operational duties.”

    Commissioner Dick’s comments were echoed by Ken Marsh, chairman of the Metropolitan Police Federation.

    He told the Daily Telegraph: “People are entitled to personal views but you should keep them outside policing.

    “When you have a police uniform on, you should police without fear or favour.”

    The National Police Chiefs’ Council argued the decision to take the knee should be decided by individual forces and chiefs.

    A spokesperson for Sadiq Khan said: “It’s clearly a personal decision for each officer, but the mayor supports their decision to do so, as long it is safe and operationally appropriate for them to do so.”

    During a protest outside Downing Street, four officers took the knee with one saying: “I know I’m not racist and I know that my colleagues are not racist, so why not?”

    The Black Lives Matters protests erupted around the world after Mr Floyd was killed by white police officers in Missouri.

    Mr Floyd died as he pleaded for help while a police officer knelt on his neck. The victim was unarmed and handcuffed.

    Following his tragic death, shops and businesses had their windows smashed and buildings were set on fire during protests in Missouri.

    Footage posted on social media saw people looting cartloads of goods from a nearby Target store and raiding grocery stores.”

    “DISILLUSIONED police are quitting the force early, with chiefs blaming the toxic trio of violence, low pay and increased exposure on social media. Around 1,170 officers resigned in 2011-2012 but this rocketed by 88 percent to nearly 2,200 in 2018-2019, analysis by the Daily Express has found.

    The figures are the latest available and the highest since the Police Remuneration Review Body began collecting data in 2006. Experts say that losing so many experienced officers while trying to hire 20,000 new recruits – a target set by the Government – will be a “tragedy”. Talented officers will be expected to take on more complex investigations as well as helping to train the newbies.

    But within five years, almost half of officers – 44 percent – will have been in the job less than three years, police chiefs predict.

    They estimate they will need to hire 53,000 people over the next three years to boost numbers by 20,000.

    Academic Rick Muir, who is leading a strategic review into the police, told the Daily Express: “Not enough thought is given to this.

    “There is a big focus on the additional 20,000 officers. It is a race to get bums on seats. That raises questions of whether they will get people who will stick it out.

    “An 88 percent increase in officers voluntarily resigning is concerning. For one thing very many of those people will be needed to supervise, train and mentor the new recruits coming in.

    “The focus at the moment is understandably on attracting new recruits, but it would be a tragedy if we lost many of these new police officers after just a few years because of not investing properly in supporting them in their roles.”

    Frontline police have repeatedly spoken out about increasing violence.

    Just yesterday a policeman was hit and dragged 40ft by a speeding car in Southgate, north London.

    Remarkably he was back at work later in the day.

    Officers are also fed-up of the scrutiny they face on social media.

    Britain’s top policewoman, Dame Cressida Dick, the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, said: “We cannot do our job unless the general public believe that we are legitimate and doing the right thing.

    “But every now and then, particularly now with social media and 24/7 news, you know, you get a campaign about this, you get a campaign about that, or the other.”

    Protests She also said since George Floyd’s death in the US, policing in Britain had changed.

    “In a matter of just less than a couple of weeks, people started to protest and for the Met some of those protests were extremely difficult.

    “Large scale, not organised, nobody to engage with, not safe and, as we know, a number of those turned really nasty and violent and my officers were injured. So, that’s a big effect.”

    Ken Marsh, of the Met Police Federation, said: “Many are resigning due to the challenges of the job, because of what we are being asked to perform, because of the fact our employer can work us for 20 hours straight and then tell us to be back in four hours.

    “The pay is derisory. More people are quitting because of the violence and the public exposure they receive through social media. There is a drain of experienced officers.

    “When I joined there were the old-school officers who could mentor and help you.

    “We have got people joining then leaving in a blink.”

    The Home Office said: “The retention of experienced officers is a priority for us, to help train and mentor the next generation.

    “Only two percent of officers leave voluntarily before retirement age, fewer than in other public and private sector work forces.”

    The Government has rightly committed to recruiting an extra 20,000 police.

    The fact that between November 2019 and March 2020 6,435 new officers were recruited shows there is considerable appetite out there for joining the police.

    However, an 88 percent increase in officers voluntarily resigning is concerning.

    For one thing, very many of those people will be highly experienced officers.

    These officers are needed to supervise, train and mentor the new recruits coming in, who will predominantly come from younger age groups.

    Experienced officers are also required in areas such as serious crime investigations, where demand is increasing (due to increased reporting of sexual offences, domestic abuse offences and child sexual abuse crimes), but where we have a national shortage of 5,000 detectives.

    Forces are being compelled to pay more for retired officers to come back on a contracted basis to fill some of these gaps.

    So what can be done to improve retention? It is important to make sure that police are supported throughout their careers.

    Some of this is about having a pay and promotions system that is attractive vis-a-vis alternative jobs in other sectors.

    The specialist skills that detectives acquire are in high demand in private sector security roles, for example.

    But it is not just about money.

    It is also about providing ongoing learning and development opportunities for police officers throughout their careers, and throughout their daily work.

    Too much of what gets counted as police training is sporadic and low-quality.

    We need to invest in the quality of people management in policing so that officers feel properly supported by their managers, from sergeants through to chief officers.

    Policing can be a stressful and dangerous job, and there is a need to consider and provide for the mental and physical wellbeing of police officers.

    The focus at the moment is understandably on attracting recruits, but it would be a tragedy if we lost many of these new police officers after just a few years because of not investing properly in supporting them in their roles.

  15. Swedish Court Convicts Somali Migrant for Raping Nine-Year-Old Girl (breitbart, Jul 23, 2020)

    “A Swedish court has convicted and sentenced a Somalian migrant to 11 years in prison after he raped a nine-year-old girl at knifepoint earlier this year, his second child rape conviction in three years.

    Somalian migrant Ahmed M., who became a Swedish citizen in 2014, attacked the nine-year-old on April 15th in the municipality of Norrköping when she was on her way home from school.

    Ahmed M. dragged the child into a nearby bush, beat her and threatened the girl with a knife. He then dragged her into a forested area where he raped her. The 39-year-old is even said to have threatened to kill the girl and her family if she told police, Nyheter Idag reports.

    “Inside the forest, he took off her clothes and smeared clay all over her… He also forced her to put water and clay in her mouth and wanted her to swallow,” the court heard.

    The 39-year-old attacked her while he was on probation for another conviction for raping a 12-year-old in 2017. He lured the girl into a basement and threatened to kill her with a knife before raping her. In both cases, the Somalian migrant wore plastic gloves.

    While he was sentenced to 21 months in prison for the 2017 rape case, Ahmed M. was only in jail for just over a year before he was released. The newspaper reports that because he became a Swedish citizen six years ago, he could not be deported after committing his first rape of a child.

    The cases are just the latest to involve migrants or asylum seekers sexually assaulting children in Sweden.

    Earlier this year, a 20-year-old Afghan migrant was prosecuted for sexually abusing a 15-year-old, the daughter of the family he was staying with at the time.

    Last year in October, a migrant in his 20s was sentenced to just three years in prison for raping an 11-year-old and allegedly getting the child pregnant twice.”

    “An African asylum seeker is suing the government after he contracted coronavirus while staying in taxpayer-funded migrant accommodation.

    Lawyers for the man, who is Eritrean, contacted the Home Office in April to complain that he and other asylum seekers were at risk of contracting the novel coronavirus while living at Urban House in Wakefield in the north of England.

    The Home Office informed the man, whose lawyers raised concerns over room sharing and a lack of social distancing, that current policies did not place him or any other resident at risk of becoming ill from Covid-19 at the Yorkshire accommodation, where more than 20 people eventually contracted the virus, according to The Guardian.

    Speaking to the newspaper from a hotel where he was transferred after experiencing symptoms of coronavirus, the man said: “I was so scared in Urban House and believed I was at risk of catching Covid-19 because of the bad and overcrowded conditions there.”

    “I have been very ill with Covid, but now I’m starting to feel better,” he said, adding that the illness “has really weakened” asylum seekers, many of whom want to be moved from the “too crowded” Urban House.

    The legal action being taken against the Home Office says that “officials’ failure to house him in suitable accommodation was unlawful and resulted in him contracting Covid-19”, according to the left-liberal news outlet.

    Representing the complainant, Duncan Lewis solicitors’ Isabella Kirwan said migrants are “at grave risk of contracting Covid-19” at the Wakefield accommodation, where she claimed that they are “unable to properly protect themselves in conditions that are manifestly unsafe”.

    A spokesman for the Home Office stated that “the safety and wellbeing of asylum seekers and the local communities in which they live is of utmost importance”, adding that the government had “put in place a range of measures to specifically support asylum seekers affected by the pandemic”.

    Home Office contractor Mears, which runs Urban House, said it had put in place new safety measures including reducing asylum seeker numbers at the Wakefield accommodation and ending room sharing.

    The Scottish Refugee Council, which demands UK taxpayers provide illegal immigrants with higher quality housing across the whole of Britain, commented on the case to say that “any public service is judged by how it treats its most vulnerable”.

    Recently the Scottish Refugee Council was amongst NGOs and politicians claiming inadequate taxpayer-funded housing for asylum seekers drove a Sudanese man to carry out a mass stabbing attack in a hotel in Glasgow last month.

    Establishment figures north of the border, including First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and the ruling Scottish National Party (SNP) demanded an inquiry into the allegedly poor conditions that the migrants were being housed in at the Glasgow Park Inn.

    Complaints included that food served at the establishment was not “culturally appropriate”, that free WiFi was only “limited“, and that being housed in a hotel during the coronavirus lockdown felt “like being in prison”.

    “A study released by the French Centre for Terrorism Analysis (CAT) has revealed that 60 per cent of Islamic radicals who left France to fight abroad between 1986 to 2006 have gone on to commit terrorist offences.

    The study looked at French Muslims who had fought in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Bosnia-Herzegovina. The researchers found that the majority of those who returned to France later went on to engage in terrorism.

    Jean-Charles Brisard, president of the CAT, commented on the findings, saying: “Until now, international studies of all identified jihadists around the world concluded with a re-engagement rate [with terrorism] of 11 per cent. French statistics are even more worrying.”

    While 40 per cent of the returning jihadists have not engaged in actual terrorism after getting to France, newspaper Le Figaro reports that many still have not given up on their racial Islamist ideology and even promote it to younger generations.

    Those who travelled to fight in Iraq during the early 2000s saw the largest rate of recidivism after returning to France, with 100 per cent of the 16 extremists continuing their terrorist actions, compared to just 39 per cent of those who travelled to Bosnia-Herzegovina.

    The study comes as France is set to release 2,540 radical Islamists from prison by the year 2022, over 300 of them directly linked to terrorist convictions and many of them having returned from Iraq or Syria after fighting for groups like Islamic State.

    Many of the Islamists set for release were radicalised while in prison, with the French Court of Auditors claiming at least 498 “detainees susceptible to radicalisation (DCSR)” will be released from 2020 to 2022.

    A total of 10 prison guards have been injured in six separate attacks conducted by Islamists between 2018 and 2020. Other Islamists have plotted terrorist attacks from within prison.

    In 2017, two prisoners in Fresnes prison were caught plotting a terrorist attack that was set to take place upon their release. The pair had managed to get into contact with Islamic State members using phones smuggled into the prison.”

    Prosecutors say the woman was offered an Ecstasy tablet in a disco in the southwestern city of Freiburg and her drink was spiked with an unknown substance, leaving her unable to fend off the assailants. She reported that several men later raped her outside the disco.

    The Freiburg state court convicted most of the defendants, who were aged 18 to 30 at the time of the time of the assault in October in 2018, of rape, news agency dpa reported. They were given sentences ranging up to 5 1/2 years in prison.

    Others were convicted of failing to provide help. The court rejected assertions by the alleged ringleader and others that the sex was consensual.

    The trial opened in late June last year.”

    The dispute over seabed mineral rights has led to increased navy deployments by both NATO members in the region, where a Turkish research vessel, the Oruc Reis, is being prepared for a survey mission.

    Greek government spokesman Stelios Petsas described the mission as a direct violation of Greek sovereignty.

    “The government is underlining to all parties that Greece will not accept a violation of its sovereignty and will do whatever is necessary to defend its sovereign rights,” Petsas said.

    Greece and Turkey have been at odds for decades over sea boundaries but recent discoveries of natural gas and drilling plans across the East Mediterranean have exacerbated the dispute.

    Turkey argues Greek islands should not be included in calculating maritime zones of economic interest — a position that Greece says is a clear violation of international law. Greece has around 6,000 islands and smaller islets in the Aegean and Ionian Seas, more than 200 of them inhabited.

    “A think tank has warned that British universities have become “worryingly dependent” on foreign income, especially from China, with two-thirds of revenue raised from charging Chinese students going to some of the UK’s top research institutes.

    A report by the centre-right think tank Onward found that of the £5.8 billion income universities derive from overseas, non-EU students, more than a third — £2.1 billion — comes from China. Around £1.4 billion of that went into the elite Russell Group of universities alone.

    The report, published on Wednesday, also argues that an increase in overseas students has crowded out British students from some of the top universities in the past four years, including at Oxford, Cambridge, Manchester, Imperial College London, University College London, and the London School of Economics.

    “As previous Onward research shows, the growth of international students at Oxford and Cambridge has been matched with a decline in the number of state school pupils winning places at these institutions,” the report said.

    Further, in last year’s intake, more Chinese students were accepted into UK universities than “the number from the South West, or Yorkshire and the Humber, or the East Midlands, or Wales, the North East or Northern Ireland”. The Higher Education Statistics Agency found in January that 35 per cent of all non-EU overseas students are from China.

    Ten British universities are dependent on Chinese students for more than a quarter of their income including Glasgow, Liverpool, and Sheffield universities (28 per cent); Imperial College London (26 per cent); and University College London and the University of Manchester (26 per cent).

    Significantly, this dependence also creates fragility in terms of academic independence, with the report warning that “there are well-founded concerns that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) or organisations that it controls have sought — in some cases successfully — to undermine academic freedom and the integrity of scientific research on UK campuses”.

    Onward’s director and author of the report Trading Places said: “While overseas students generate valuable income and international focus on UK campuses, universities have become worryingly dependent on them for their finances, undermining their independence, credibility and long-term sustainability.

    “Britain has never had a serious debate about the growth of overseas students. Yet the viability of the UK’s most prestigious universities – to say nothing of billions of pounds of science funding – is now decided not in Parliament but in countries thousands of miles away.

    “Even more worrying is that a third of overseas funding comes from China, a country whose government has shown itself unafraid of threatening to cut student flows in response to criticism and whose commercial partnerships with UK universities are increasingly under scrutiny.”

    Onward is not the first body to express concern of communist Chinese influence in British universities.

    In November 2019, the Foreign Affairs Committee published a report on the influence of the Confucius Institute, which is a branch of the Chinese Ministry of Education. Witnesses quoted in the report said that the Confucius Institute had confiscated papers mentioning Taiwan at an academic conference at the London School of Economics. At the University of Nottingham, which has a campus in China, academics were reportedly pressured to cancel events related to Tibet and Taiwan after complaints from Chinese officials. There have also been claims that Beijing uses the Confucius Institutes across the country to spy on Chinese students.

    Reports from June claim that the British taxpayer may be inadvertently funding the Chinese military through joint Chinese-British academic projects. In response, China hawk Iain Duncan Smith said that the projects were “tantamount to transfer of technologies to the Chinese government”.

    “You cannot say that there is any [Chinese] institution that is safe from the reach of that government… If they take technology as part of a market position, they can use it for other things,” Sir Iain said.

    This month it was revealed that four top Russell Group universities were engaging in a pilot project for a tech platform that allowed Chinese students to study for British degrees at home — so long as the material on the platform abides by the Chinese Communist Party’s strict internet rules.

    Neil O’Brien MP, who like Mr Duncan Smith sits on the Sino-sceptic China Research Group, called it the “latest sign of the way UK universities are being changed by their dependence on Chinese students. The government needs to start collecting data on Chinese firms’ investments into our universities and be clear about the values we won’t compromise.””

    “The European Commission has slammed the Turkish government over its Navtex alert issued earlier this week for seismic research off of the coast of a Greek island.

    The Commission released a statement on Tuesday criticising the alert, which confirmed that a Turkish research vessel would begin a survey for resources in an area Greece claims is part of an exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

    Nabila Massrali, a spokeswoman for the Commission, stated according to Greek newspaper Kathimerini: “Turkey’s announcement of a new Navtex for seismic research in the eastern Mediterranean is not useful and sends the wrong message.”

    Greece, meanwhile, issued its own Navtex alert in response, stating that the Turkish warning had been issued by an “unauthorised station” and that it was invalid. It said the Turkish message referred “to unauthorised and illegal activity in an area that overlaps the Greek continental shelf”.

    Navtex is a service for delivering navigational and other maritime warnings.

    The Turkish Navtex was also followed by an estimated 15 of the country’s naval vessels leaving one of the country’s ports. This subsequently led to Greece placing its armed forces on high alert as the country saw 82 violations of its airspace by Turkish fighter jets on Tuesday.

    On Tuesday evening, German Chancellor Angela Merkel is said to have spoken with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis about the rising tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean, with tabloid Bild claiming that the discussions led to Turkish vessels heading in a different direction.

    The tabloid credited the German Chancellor’s “brave intervention”, which it said staved off a potential military conflict between the two NATO members, likening the situation to the Cuban missile crisis between the United States and the Soviet Union in 1962.

    A source close to the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (GEETHA), however, has claimed that the situation is “unchanged” and that the Greek navy is monitoring the Turkish naval movements.

    Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is also said to have discussed the issue of Turkey’s actions in the Eastern Mediterranean with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a phone call on Wednesday afternoon.

    The two leaders, whose countries both have large populations of Orthodox Christians, also allegedly discussed the Turkish move to convert the Hagia Sophia into a mosque.

    In a recent poll, Greeks said they were not happy with the Russian government’s and European Union’s reactions to the conversion of the former Orthodox cathedral, which was turned into a museum in the 1930s after serving as a mosque since the Turkish conquest of Constantinople.”

    “Julian Assange and WikiLeaks have repeatedly denied allegations that the emails belonging to the Democratic National Committee, which they published in 2016, were provided to them by Russian or any other state actor, but rather that they were leaked to the organisation via “official circles in Washington DC”.

    Democratic National Committee (DNC) documents published by WikiLeaks in 2016 could not have been obtained through hacking, according to a new assessment co-authored by National Security Agency (NSA) whistleblower Bill Binney.

    Mr Binney, speaking via an online press conference on 23 July said that he and a team of other former intelligence and security personnel looked into “the files posted by WikiLeaks, because the allegations were that Russians hacked the DNC and passed it to WikiLeaks”.

    “[I]n all the 35,813 emails that [WikiLeaks] posted in three batches, one downloaded, according to the last modified times on the 23rd of May and the other another on the 25th of May and one on the 26th of August of 2016”, the ex-NSA cryptographer explained.
    “Now all those files, all 35,813 had a last modified time that was rounded off to an even second”, Mr Binney said.

    He described how there is a common programme which can do what is known as file allocation formatting, and that “when doing a batch process of data and transferring it to a storage device, like a thumb drive or a CD ROM, it rounds off the last modified time to the nearest even second. So that’s exactly the property we found in all that data posted by WikiLeaks”, he concluded.

    “Now, that said, very simply this data was downloaded to a storage device, a CD ROM, or a thumb drive, and physically transported before WikiLeaks could post it. So that meant it was not a hack. So no matter how you look at it, we’re looking at the forensic evidence that says the DNC emails were not hacked. They were downloaded and physically transported to WikiLeaks”, the longtime NSA cryptographer explained.

    Mr Binney said that they contacted colleagues as well as hackers from around the world including Albania, Serbia and London, to attempt to achieve the speeds which they could see that the DNC leaks were obtained from the servers. They were all unsuccessful.

    He also said that there was evidence that the documents published by Gucifer 2.0, which contained “Russian signatures”, were manipulated to make it look like the documents published were hacked by Russian state actors. He also said that given the nature of the manipulation the evidence pointed towards the CIA, rather than the Russian Federation.

    In 2016 the transparency organisation published multiple batches of what came to be known as the DNC Leaks or DNC Hacks. The emails revealed, among other things, the fact that the 2016 Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee were working together to sabotage the presidential campaign of Bernie Sanders. This is despite the fact that the DNC is ostensibly a neutral organ of the Democratic Party.

    Mr Binney’s latest report follows the recent revelations that Shaun Henry, the CEO of cyber security firm Crowdstrike, told the US House Intelligence Committee in December 2017:

    “We did not have concrete evidence that the data was exfiltrated from the DNC, but we have indicators that it was exfiltrated”

    “There are times when we can see data exfiltrated, and we can say conclusively. But in this case, it appears it was set up to be exfiltrated, but we just don’t have the evidence that says it actually left”

    According to the declassified House Intel Committee’s documents, Crowdstrike, which was paid by the Democratic Party to review its servers after the WikiLeaks publications, could not confirm whether Russian state actors actually took any of the information in question from the DNC.

    Both Julian Assange and WikiLeaks have repeatedly denied that the DNC leaks were provided to them via a Russian, or any other, state actor.”

    In an interview with Russia’s Sputnik news agency on Wednesday, Zarif said the US violated UN Security Council Resolution 2231 by pulling out of the nuclear deal, officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

    “The United States has certainly become a rogue and lawbreaker state” after ditching the deal, he said.

    “Therefore, the US is not in a position to talk about the JCPOA. Russia, Iran and China have similar positions on that,” he added.

    “The global community has concluded that the United States is a rather unreliable partner that is violating all legal norms and doesn’t abide by its obligations,” the top Iranian diplomat said.

    Zarif further said that although the US “has significant banking capabilities and influence on the global banking system,” the world “is considering whether it is necessary to recognize the US power over the global banking system or whether there is a need to change it. We are currently seeing some steps in this direction.”

    “This doesn’t work in the global system. What will work is focusing on the rule of law and multipolarity, regardless of any US pressure on the multipolar world system, since the behavior of the current US government goes against the interests of the global community and even the interests of the United States itself. Even the US population has decided that one cannot succeed in the medium to long term by violating the law,” he emphasized.

    Referring to Washington’s hostile pressure campaign to secure an extension of an anti-Iran arms embargo, which would expire in October under the UNSC-endorsed nuclear deal, Zarif said, “Even US allies haven’t accepted this project, considering it extremely dangerous.”

    Asked what actions were taken to restore relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, Zarif said Tehran was ready to hold talks with Riyadh to promote regional security.

    The money should cover buying new technical equipment and helping strengthen the staff capacity of the Greek border police. Klára Dlubalová, a spokeswoman for the Czech Ministry of the Interior, announced the news in a press release, writing that the money will be provided from the Ministry of Interior’s On-Site Assistance program.

    “Already in March, we announced to Greece that we would help them face migrant pressure on the Greek-Turkish border. After specifying the requirements from the Greek side, we have further concrete assistance to strengthen the protection of the EU’s external border from illegal migrants,” said Interior Minister Jan Hamá?ek.

    “Black Lives Matter is an extreme left, anti-Christian movement, State Secretary for the Aid of Persecuted Christians Tristan Azbej said Tuesday morning on national television channel M1’s morning news program.

    “Very worrying phenomena have appeared in the Western world as well, and we experience that the previously mainly intellectual opposition to Christianity is displaying an increasingly violent nature,” Azbej said. He pointed out that last week alone, Black Lives Matter activists set ablaze five churches in the United States within a space of just two days.

    One of them, the San Gabriel Church in Los Angeles (pictured above), was completely gutted by the fire. While officials don’t yet have an assessment of the estimated damage, Adrian M. Alarcon, the spokeswoman for the San Gabriel Valley archdiocese told a local news portal that they intend to rebuild the 215-year-old church.

    Local police said they have in custody a man who was arrested one day later in a separate arson attempt, and he is their primary suspect.

    Azbej said images of burning and burned-out churches in the West are “very disturbing”, and they remind of him of the damage wrought in Northern Iraq by the Islamic State, which he experienced firsthand. He said he never expected to see similar actions taking place in the Western world.

    Rhetoric against Christians has also ramped up in the U.S., with Black Lives Matter activist Shaun King urging people to “tear down” depictions of Jesus as a white man, claiming they are a “tool for white supremacy”.

    Azbej is also in charge of the Hungary Helps program, which for the past few years has been assisting persecuted Christian communities in the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia re-establish their lives by rebuilding churches, schools and hospitals.

    Recently, the program also donated €30,000 to Greece to help rebuild churches that were desecrated by migrants.

    Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the world, with a U.S. State Department report indicating that 245 million Christians live under persecution around the world and 11 are killed every day for their religion.

    In 2019, attacks against Christians and Christian place of worship in Europe reached a record high.

    Last month, while responding to accusations from the George Soros-funded Human Rights Watch (HRW), Azbej expressed his hopes that HRW will eventually “embrace the cause of the hundreds of millions of persecuted Christians around the world.””
