UCLA Students Demand Dismissal of Professors Who Refuse to Cancel Final Exams Over Floyd Death
Professor facing backlash for refusing race-based accommodations
University of California Los Angeles students are demanding that professors cancel or extend final exams for minority students in light of the death of George Floyd and some are pressuring the school to fire professors who refuse.
Anderson School of Management professor Gordon Klein was doxxed by students after he refused to allow minority students to abstain from taking final exams. A student in Klein’s Management 127 class, who wishes to remain anonymous for fear of retribution, requested accommodations for minority students during “these trying times.” In the exchange, Klein questioned the appropriateness of using race to determine how students should be treated.
“Thanks for your suggestion in your email below that I give black students special treatment, given the tragedy in Minnesota,” Klein wrote in his response email. “Do you know the names of the classmates that are black? How can I identify them since we’ve been having online classes only? Are there any students that may be of mixed parentage, such as half black-half Asian? What do you suggest I do with respect to them? A full concession or just half?”
Klein concluded his email with a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. that people should not be evaluated based on the color of their skin.
Preet Bains, a UCLA senior, started a Change.org petition urging the university to fire Klein for his response to the student’s email.
“We ask for your support in having Professor Klein’s professorship terminated for his extremely insensitive, dismissive, and woefully racist response to his students’ request for empathy and compassion during a time of civil unrest,” the petition reads.
More than 18,000 people had signed the petition as of Thursday afternoon. Bains did not respond to a request for comment. UCLA student Emilia Martinez, who initially shared the email on Twitter, said an “Afrolatinx” friend had sent the email but asked to remain anonymous. Martinez told the Washington Free Beacon that she went public with the emails to hold professors “accountable.”
“I believed this information was important to bring to light because as a non-black poc, I believe it is my duty to amplify my black peer’s voices,” she said in an email. “I felt this was a very unreasonable response to a very valid request and decided that the Professor should be held properly accountable.”
In a separate email to his entire class, Klein said that outside events, including personal hardship, do not necessarily relieve students of their responsibilities. He pointed to his daughter, who suffered a severe illness and lost close friends to suicide during her time at UCLA. Those personal hardships did not interfere with fulfilling her course work, according to the professor, who did not return a request for comment.
“Some students have asked that the final exam be delayed or changed or waived altogether. Life deals all of us challenges and I have no doubt that many of you are facing some now. In a perfectly fair world, I would be able to take these individual factors into account and perhaps modify the terms in our course syllabus, but my understanding of university rules is that, with rare exceptions, I should not,” Klein said.
On March 16, UCLA sent a message to faculty encouraging professors to provide alternate forms of final assessments in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The university does not require professors to cancel final exams or exempt minority students from completing their course work.
Some professors who accommodated student requests have been attacked online. Professor David Jewitt followed university suggestions and extended his Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences final exam deadlines. The original accommodations extended the final from June 8 to June 15 and extended the class extra credit assignment from June 5 to June 8. The professor’s changes were met with backlash, prompting Jewitt to claim that the deadline extension produced more controversy among students than Floyd’s death.
“Changing the exam date produced ten times as many upset emails as did the original event in Minnesota. To accommodate people’s summer plans, we will open the exam window on June 8 … and keep it open, so that the ultimate deadline is June 15,” Jewitt wrote.
Students have called on professors to cancel classes over national political events in the past. Following the election of President Trump in 2016, Yale University and Columbia University professors canceled classes to allow students time to mourn. In 2018, Yale University professors canceled 31 classes so students could protest the confirmation of now-Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh.
UCLA education professor Tyrone Howard was heralded earlier this week after he replaced his class’s final paper with a one-page write up on how students feel about “what is going on in the nation right now.”
“In lieu of your final paper, I would like everyone to submit a 1 page reflection (double or single spaced). I just want you to respond to these two simple questions: ‘What do I make about what is going on in the nation right now?’ and ‘How am I doing right now?'” Howard wrote in an email to his Education 130 class.

Howard, who did not respond to a request for comment, took to Twitter to encourage UCLA faculty to follow his lead.
“I would implore all of my UCLA faculty colleagues to strongly consider canceling or significantly altering final exams. Many students are struggling now, they need our support, and many are not in the best emotional space to focus on academics. Be compassionate & understanding,” Howard tweeted.

GRAPHIC VIDEO: Two Buffalo police officers suspended after violently shoving man onto ground
Shortly after Buffalo’s curfew started Thursday evening, city police and State Police swept through the area of Niagara Square directly in front of City Hall to clear the area where a protest was finishing. An unidentified, 75-year-old man was shoved by two officers in the line. The man lost his balance and fell to the pavement, audibly hitting his head with blood running out from under his head.
Two medics came forward and treated him. They helped put him in an ambulance and he was taken away. The man is in serious, but stable condition at ECMC as of Thursday night, reportedly with a concussion and lacerations.
A Buffalo Police spokesman issued a statement at 8:50 p.m. Thursday saying “a 5th person was arrested during a skirmish with other protestors and also charged with disorderly conduct. During that skirmish involving protestors, one person was injured when he tripped & fell.”
Department officials have since said a full Internal Affairs investigation is underway and that Police Commissioner Byron Lockwood has ordered the immediate suspension of the two officers involved, without pay.
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown issued the following statement at 11:05 p.m., saying he was “deeply disturbed by the video”:
“Tonight, after a physical altercation between two separate groups of protesters participating in an illegal demonstration beyond the curfew, two Buffalo Police officers knocked down a 75-year-old man. The victim is in stable but serious condition at ECMC. I was deeply disturbed by the video, as was Buffalo Police Commissioner Byron Lockwood. He directed an immediate investigation into the matter, and the two officers have been suspended without pay. After days of peaceful protests and several meetings between myself, Police leadership and members of the community, tonight’s event is disheartening. I hope to continue to build on the progress we have achieved as we work together to address racial injustice and inequity in the City of Buffalo. My thoughts are with the victim tonight.”
Gov. Andrew Cuomo, in a tweet, called the incident “wholly unjustified and utterly disgraceful.”
The New York Attorney General’s Office said, on Twitter, it is aware of the video, which quickly went viral Thursday evening, attracting national and international attention.
New York Civil Liberties Union, in a statement, said “the casual cruelty demonstrated by Buffalo police officers tonight is gut-wrenching and unacceptable.” Buffalo Chapter Director John Curr added, “We are in solidarity with Buffalo’s protesters and demand that demonstrators can protest without the threat of police brutality on the streets tomorrow.”
Protests over the killing of George Floyd, a Black man, by a white police officer who kneeled on his neck for nearly nine minutes in Minneapolis last week have been taking place in Buffalo since last Saturday. They have been peaceful at times and tense at other times, with the most serious resulting incident coming when a vehicle ran into three law enforcers on Bailey Avenue on Monday night, causing serious injuries to a state trooper. The driver of the vehicle was not involved in that protest and has been charged with multiple felonies, including aggravated assault on a police officer and criminal possession of a weapon.
Four people were arrested on disorderly conduct charges for blocking traffic in Niagara Square during the protest.

Have you seen the videos where the people are not only kneeling the are kissing the shoes of the minority people who are present. The left is creating the racist society they claim to be fighting, the big explosion is probably coming very soon and it is going to be very ugly.
Poor things, lost souls.
This is cult-like. Chanting, call/response, ritual gestures. Hollowed out souls.
Zombies could be programmed to do just about anything. Better they drink kool-aid instead.
This is one of the reasons they attack all Religions besides theirs, they want to get everyone into their cult that makes it easier to control them.

Islam is on the list to be destroyed but the left is holding off to use them as soldiers against us.

That’s actually reassuring, Bl@k.
You are probably right the police are getting tired of the commie’s running their mouths at them and one of them lost it.
So some monkey-see monkey-do group wants to have a march today to “grieve” (puke) but don’t want the cops around. Don’tcha think they’d wants the cops around despite their sour grapes? Don’tcha think they’d want the police as witness when Antifa infiltrates their group and starts smashing and fighting? To protect themselves from harm and blame? If not, then should they not already be looked at with suspicion?
Not in Dystopia!
Beautiful warm weather today for a kinetic Dystopian walk.

Austria: Syrian girl killer tries to get a lenient sentence
It was a case that triggered off nationwide great horror: The 16-year-old Manuela K. had presumably been brutally murdered by her Syrian ex-boyfriend Yazan A. He now wants to legally defend himself against the maximum sentence imposed…
In the aftermath, increasingly gruesome details had become known: For Yazan A. (20 years old) is said to have strangled Manuela out of jealousy not only with a belt. He is also said to have raped her body before burying it in a heap of leaves in Wodica Park in Wiener Neustadt. The indictment at the time implied that he had vaginal intercourse with the dead woman and ejaculated on her corpse – the magazine Wochenblick reported on the disgusting details of the case in autumn.Hours after the crime, the police arrested the fugitive Syrian in Vienna, and the first trial followed in October. The suspect denied the killing at first, speaking of an accident in which the girl fell unhappily onto the park bench. Yazan A. did not say why he himself would not have called for help in such a case. Those who hoped for a repentant confession were disappointed. The court considered his guilt as proven, after hours of deliberation the jury’s verdict followed: 15 years imprisonment with the subsequent committal to an institution for mentally abnormal lawbreakers. At the beginning of the trial, the expert witness had certified a “personality development disorder with emotionally unstable, narcissistic and dissocial components”.His lawyer Andreas Reichenbach, however, lodged an immediate appeal against this ruling, and the second hearing will take place on the 26th of June before the Higher Regional Court (OLG) of Vienna. The legal counsel primarily argues that his client was allegedly blameless before the cruel act. Therefore, the “maximum penalty was disproportionate”.At that time the crime led to a broad condolence, about 500 people came to a funeral service despite the icy temperatures. The curious thing about it is that because political right wingers also mobilized to the commemoration, the Office for the Protection of the Constitution also attended the event. Despite its integrity – which applies to convictions of less than half a year or a penalty of 180 daily fine rate – Yazan A. was known to the police even before the crime. According to media reports, Yazan A. was already known to the authorities, and a procedure to withdraw his asylum status was pending.Already in 2017 and 2018, according to the newspaper Krone, a court sentenced him to fines for assault.

We have to hand it to the commies, they are masterful at booting their false narratives out the door running. And it’s so easy when you have the media machine on your side. Then the useful idiots at home and abroad jump on the bandwagon and you’ve got yourself the critical-mass chaos you’ve wanted to depose a duly-elected president.

Canadian Green Leader: Trump’s U.S. ‘No Longer Safe’, Canada Must Accept Minorities as Refugees (breitbart, Jun 5, 2020)
https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/06/05/canada-mp-u-s-not-safe-canada-must-accept-minorities-refugees/
“Elizabeth May, leader of the Green Party in the Canadian parliament, has called on Justin Trudeau to accept any ethnic minority person from the United States who comes to Canada claiming asylum because President Trump has made the country unsafe.
“It’s clear that if you’re Muslim, if you’re black, if you’re Latina, if you’re Indigenous, the United States is not a safe country,” alleged May, the Member of Parliament for Saanich—Gulf Islands in British Columbia.
“Our safe country agreement with the United States… simply can’t stand anymore,” she insisted.
“We need to change that status so that people seeking refugee protections in Canada can get here. So I once again call on the prime minister and the minister of immigration and the minister of foreign affairs to explain that under the circumstances in this pandemic, as long as people who come across our border meet our Covid-19 public safety rules, we must not turn them away — because Donald Trump has made the United States no longer safe,” she demanded.
The comments by May, who leads the Green parliamentary faction in the Canadian federal parliament, come as Jo-Ann Roberts, interim leader of the wider party, appeared to call on white women to emulate or at least endorse “protesters” who have turned to rioting and looting.
“Fellow white women, we need to step up. Stop calling the BLM protests ‘looting’ and ‘rioting,” she tweeted on June 2nd.
“Repeat after me: There is no comfortable way to fight oppression,” she continued.
“What’s happening across the U.S. and Canada is valid. right. and necessary [sic]. Get on board.”
Unlike President Trump, who was censored by Twitter for “glorifying violence” when he suggested that rioters were “thugs” and warned that “when the looting starts, the shooting starts”, Roberts’ endorsement of lawless violence has not been interfered with.”
Elizabeth May was born in the US, send her back, we have enough feckless fanatics.
Nothing racist about this useful idiot saying “Fellow white women”. Don’t EVER lump all white women in your racist little life.
Oppression, my God you half-wit you do have a clue about oppression.
Let’s talk about the 50 Yazidi very young ISIS sex slaves who had their heads cut of by the filthy barbarians and the 10 year old PREGNANT little girl they put a dog collar on and paraded her naked up and down the streets.
Qur’an 4:24 23:1-7
Male owners may have sex with their slave women, even PREPUBESCENT slave girls.
Women captives of jihad may be forced to have sex with their captors (now owners).
President Trump has never glorified violence, you are a liar.
What is happening in the U.S. and Canada is the result of years of careful planning by radicals, groups like Antifa, BLM and many other radicals funded by George Soros and other globalists to bring America down.
Canada is well on its way to total chaos because of stupid political leaders like Elizabeth May, Freeland and Justine Trudeau.
Repeat after you, methinks not, but how fitting that a pushy, stupid racists like you would have the audacity to think anyone in their right mind would follow your instructions. You represent everything that is wrong in the world today.
Looting and rioting are a criminal offence.
If clueless Elizabeth May were to bather actually talking with Canadians, instead of telling them how to think, she might learn that more than 80 % of Canadians believe we should stop and put a hold on all immigration.
Amazing how in a democracy a few stupid people control so many lives.
Government of, for and by the people.

Libya official: Tripoli units take key town with Turks’ help (abcnews, Jun 5, 2020)
https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/libya-official-tripoli-units-key-town-turks-71086140
“Forces allied with the U.N.-supported government in Libya said Friday they retook another key western town from rival forces, another blow illustrating how Turkey’s support has reversed the tide of the war in the oil-rich country.
Mohamed Gnono, spokesman for the Tripoli-allied forces, said their Turkish-backed units entered the town of Tarhouna, 72 kilometers (45 miles) southeast of Tripoli.
Tarhouna served as a main stronghold for commander Khalifa Hifter’s east-based forces in their campaign to capture Tripoli from the west-based Government of National Accord. Hifter, who leads the self-styled Libyan Arab Armed Forces, launched his offensive in April last year.
The announcement of Tarhouna’s capture comes a day after the U.N.-supported but weak Tripoli government said it regained control of all of the capital’s entrance and exit points after taking back the airport, claiming the siege by rival troops trying to capture the city for over a year had effectively ended.
Turkey has boosted its support for the Tripoli militias in recent months, sending drones and other military hardware, along with thousands of Syrian mercenaries, many of them with links to militant groups. Turkish support enabled the Tripoli militias to take back almost all the towns and territories Hifter had taken control of since the beginning of his campaign.
A LAAF official said they left the town “without fighting” as part of a “relocation” of their forces out of the capital to support U.N. efforts to put an end to the conflict. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to brief the media.
The U.N. mission in Libya spoke with Hifter’s military delegation Wednesday and said it soon planned to speak with the Tripoli-based government.
Hifter’s forces are supported by France, Russia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and other key Arab countries. Along with Turkey, the government in Tripoli is backed by Italy and Qatar.
Libya has been in turmoil since 2011 when a civil war toppled long-time dictator Moammar Gadhafi, who was later killed. The country has since split between rival administrations in the east and the west, each backed by armed groups and foreign governments.”

US-China relations will have an impact on Asia’s security and prosperity: PM Lee
US-China cooperation holds key to progress on global problems: Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong
A very nervous prime minister.
Very, right now he is praying that the US stays strong and in that region, if we don’t he is going to have to join India and Japan in their efforts to stop China. There are still a lot of bad memories of what the Japanese did during WWII so they want to avoid the Japanese becoming their saviors.
Singapore is too tiny to join anybody, but they can probably hunker down and play like Switizerland in WW2. A channel for comunications, that would be their best bet.
Their military is 100% Israeli trained and equipped. It’s no longer secret, though the specifics are, of course.
They went Israeli from the day they became independent.
That may happen, I was thinking about the strategic location Singapore sets in both sides will be wanting to ensure that the straits remain open to their shipping and closed to the enemies shipping. They may not have the luxury of remaining neutral, in WWII Switzerland remained neutral because the mountains made conquering them to expensive a proposition while you are fight the rest of Europe. Singapore doesn’t have natural terrain features that give them a military advantage.

Egypt’s foreign minister slams Turkey for sending foreign fighters to Libya (ahram, Jun 5, 2020)
http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/1/64/371522/Egypt/Politics-/Egypts-foreign-minister-slams-Turkey-for-sending-f.aspx
“Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has slammed Turkey for sending foreign fighters from Syria to Libya.
In a video address on Thursday at a meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, Shoukry warned that the success over the foreign fighters in Syria and Iraq achieved by the coalition is threatened by the role the Turkish government is currently playing in terms of recruiting, training and transferring thousands of foreign fighters from Syria to Libya.
The Turkish practices are a clear violation of international law, of the UN Security Council’s resolutions, and of the goals the coalition seeks, Shoukry said, adding that the coalition and the Security Council must make Turkey, which is a member of the anti-ISIS coalition, stop these practices and must hold it accountable.
According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, Shoukry also said that while the global community was busy dealing with the coronavirus pandemic and its impacts, the coalition must continue in its efforts to curb ISIS’s hopes to use the health crisis in order to organise terrorist attacks and to create safe havens.
He hinted that the coalition must give its top priority and attention to the growing threat of ISIS in West Africa and must stop any attempts by the terrorist organisation to re-organise itself after its defeat in Iraq and Syria, with total respect for the sovereignty, united and regional safety of the two countries.
The Egyptian government welcomes the joint efforts of the coalition and the Iraqi government to boost cooperation on counter-terrorism and to support stability in Iraq, he said, adding that the coalition must at the same time stand with the Syrian people by supporting a sustainable political reconciliation.
Egypt is fully committed to the goals of the coalition and is continuing to fight at the forefront of the coalition, not only versus ISIS but against all terrorist organisations, including the Muslim Brotherhood, and what those organisations represent in terms of a threat to international security and peace.”
Turkey’s Erdogan orders Hagia Sophia mosque conversion study: Report
https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/turkey-erdogan-istanbul-hagia-sophia-review-mosque
“Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has asked his aides to conduct a comprehensive study on how to convert Istanbul’s famous Hagia Sophia landmark, currently a museum, into a mosque, a Turkish newspaper reported on Friday.
During a top party meeting earlier this week, Erdogan noted that Hagia Sophia was reopened as a museum in 1935 after a cabinet decision, and said that it should be up to the nation itself to reverse that decision. The report published by Hurriyet daily said that Erdogan wants to maintain Hagia Sophia as a tourist attraction like the neighbouring Blue Mosque, but open it for Islamic prayers.
One senior ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) official disputed the report and said that Erdogan had not ordered the study.
“We were discussing a similar court case before the Council of State that has opened the way for Islamic prayers in Chora Church,” the official said. “There were only expressions of wishes.”
Last year, the Council of State ruled that the Chora Church building in Istanbul was endowed as a mosque under special legal circumstances during the Ottoman Empire, and that it was the state’s responsibility to preserve its intended form as a mosque.
Hagia Sophia was also a foundation property under Mehmet II, the conqueror of Istanbul.
Erdogan has been taking several steps to convert the Hagia Sophia into a mosque since last year, when he declared his intention to change its current form during an election rally.
Last week, Turkish government celebrated the 567th anniversary of the Ottoman conquest of Istanbul with an Islamic prayer at the former mosque.
“The recitation of Quran’s Al Fath surah at the Hagia Sophia has been very popular among the voters across the policial parties,” said Abdulkadir Selvi, a columnist with good sources within the government.
Hagia Sophia, a Unesco world heritage site, was originally built as a Greek Orthodox church. It was converted into a mosque after the conquest of Istanbul by Mehmet the Conquerer in 1453, celebrated on 29 May every year.
In 1935, Hagia was converted into a museum by the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, as part of his secularist reforms.
Religious conservatives have long called for the conversion of the building back into a mosque, a move Erdogan has increasingly hinted at in recent years.
Greek officials have in the past accused the Turkish president of using Hagia Sophia as an electoral ploy to lure voters to his party.
The Greek Orthodox church traces its history to the Byzantine empire and its Patriarch is still based in Istanbul, which was formerly known as Constantinople.”
Germany: Trial of suspected former Syrian officers accused of torture continues in Koblenz
The trial of two suspected former service members of the Syrian government over accusations of torture continued in the west German city of Koblenz on Friday, two days after the Higher Regional Court accepted the indictment brought by the attorney general against the two.
Attendees were seen arriving in the courtroom, along with court staff. A tribute, including photos of alleged victims were left outside the court.
Firas Fayyad, a Syrian film maker, became the first alleged victim of defendant Anwar R. to testify in court on Wednesday.
Anwar R. reportedly arrived in Germany in 2014 while Eyad A., the second suspected ex-security service member, reportedly arrived in the country in 2018. The defendants were recognised by suspected victims after their relocation to Germany and were arrested in February 2019.
Anwar R. is accused of crimes against humanity including murder, rape and sexual assault. Eyad A. is accused of aiding a crime against humanity. The indictment accuses Anwar R. of being responsible for the torture of at least 4,000 people in a high-ranking prison in Damascus, with at least 58 prisoners dying as a result. Eyad A. is accused of having brought at least 30 demonstrators to the torture prison.
German prosecutors used universal jurisdiction laws to bring the defendants to court. The laws allow them to prosecute crimes against humanity committed anywhere in the world, even if neither the perpetrators or the victims are German. The Syrian government has denied allegations of torture and war crimes levied against it, and has made no mention of the trial in Koblenz, reports say.
UK: Germany, France pledge millions to Bill Gates-backed vaccine alliance
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron took part in a virtual global vaccine summit hosted in London on Thursday.
Leaders pledged millions to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance (GAVI), established two decades ago with the help of the Microsoft founder’s Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to support vaccine access in the world’s poorest countries.
“In the last month, the European Union has helped raise almost 10 billion euros (11.3 billion dollars) to fight coronavirus. Of these, one and a half is for GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation),” Von der Leyen stated. “Our common aim with GAVI and many other partners is to speed up the delivery of an affordable COVID-19 vaccine for all who need it,” she said. “Yet GAVI’s mission goes well beyond the current pandemic,” she added, as the European Commission pledged 300 million euros for GAVI for the 2021-2025 period.
Merkel said that “Germany will continue to support GAVI over the next five years with 600 million euros (682 dollars),” in addition to the 100 million euros (113,68 million dollars) pledge during the COVID-19 donors’ conference of the European Union. “If we stand together, if we work together, we can remove the sting of infectious diseases,” she remarked.
France will increase its contribution by 100 million euros (113,68 million dollars), “when an efficient vaccine against COVID-19 will be available to make sure it will be distributed at an affordable price whilst maintaining the necessary commitment against the other diseases,” Macron concluded.
The virtual global summit eventually raised $8.8 (€7.77) billion for GAVI on Thursday.

Suspected Muslim cop-stabber is ‘absolutely not a terrorist,’ relative says
The man suspected of stabbing an NYPD cop in the neck without warning is a “practicing Muslim” whose family is from Bosnia — but he’s “absolutely not a terrorist,” a relative who was interviewed by federal terrorism investigators said Thursday.
The relative also said that Dzenan Camovic, 20,never expressed any anti-police sentiment to him and questioned the official account of Wednesday night’s incident in Brooklyn.
‘“I’ve known him since he was 6-inches tall. That this is a terrorism, it’s illogical,” said the middle-aged man, who declined to give his name.
“He was raised here, [English] is his only language … He was as good of a child as a child could be.”
The relative’s comments came after law enforcement sources said authorities were investigating Wednesday night’s unprovoked attack as a possible act of terror, based in part on anti-cop messages that Camovic allegedly posted on social media.
Sources also said that while Camovic wasn’t on the radar of anti-terror investigators, he’d been in contact with people who were and his family may have a “nexus to terrorism.”
The relative, who was seen speaking to a pair of FBI agents outside the Brooklyn apartment building where Camovic lives with his parents and sister, said, “I have the utmost respect for law enforcement, but it’s easy to accuse a Muslim of terrorism.”
“It’s the first offense that comes to mind when someone mentions Muslim,” he said.
“He might have been attacked yesterday, it could have been provoked and he might have mentioned — like anyone would mention God — he might have said Allah, but no one knows. I just hope law enforcement will do their due diligence.”
Camovic’s relative also alluded to last week’s police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, which sparked protests across the country, including in New York City the past seven nights.
“I think they were also saying, the African American man who was killed, that he also attacked. That he was also violent,” the man said.
“This is how he got killed, and at the end of the day, we find out the truth.”
A neighbor, Christopher Song, 62, said he recognized Camovic from a news photo.
“He seemed like a quiet person, didn’t bother anybody,” Song said.
“For him to go up to a cop and stab him in the neck … It’s insane.
Following the attack on Officer Yayonfrant Jean Pierre, Camovic allegedly grabbed another cop’s gun, which discharged during the ensuing struggle, leaving two other cops shot in the hand and the arm, sources have said.
Camovic was shot repeatedly by a sergeant who responded to the scene and was hospitalized in critical condition Thursday, while Pierre and the other injured officers, Randy Ramnarine and Dexter Chiu, were hospitalized in stable condition.

The media will never understand the riots as long as they insist on calling them ‘protests’
By Benny Huang June 5, 2020
As America presses through its second week of smoldering rage, the media continue to prove their abject uselessness. Round-the-clock coverage of our national mayhem has illuminated nothing and hidden quite a bit beneath hours of pointless chatter.
Journalists have gotten the story wrong since the moment a police officer killed George Floyd because journalists don’t understand it any better than we commoners — and perhaps worse than we commoners. Their Pavlovian conditioning simply won’t allow them to process what’s happening before their own eyes. Whereas normal people see rioting, looting, and mayhem, journalists see dispossessed people protesting peacefully. If the American Psychiatric Association hasn’t yet documented this inability to engage with reality in its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, it should really get on that posthaste.
CNN’s Brian Stelter, for example, at first refused to believe that the rioters had set Washington’s historic St. John’s Church ablaze. The church, which has stood across the street from the White House for more than two hundred years, was at first attacked because of the American flag displayed in front of it. Not satisfied with burning Old Glory, the rioters later torched the whole building. Fox News was covering the arson but CNN predictably was not. When the Daily Caller’s Katrina Haydon tweeted about the arson, Stelter insinuated that she was propagating fake news — his network’s specialty.
In a since-deleted tweet, Stelter shot back: “what’s your source? live video of St. John’s does not show obvious fire.” It’s not clear what “live video” he was watching because in fact the church was burning. Someone was spreading fake news here, but it wasn’t Haydon.

LILLEY: Liberals call for censoring the Internet again
It’s a really, really bad idea but one the Trudeau Liberals can’t seem to walk away from: Regulating news and other content on the Internet.
Last January the Liberals endorsed the idea, contained in a report from a panel appointed by the Trudeau cabinet to regulate news media. Within days of saying he backed the idea of licensing news media, Heritage Minister Steven Guilbeault walked back his comments and said the government would not impose the idea.
Now, they are at it again.
As Blacklock’s Reporter noted, Liberal MP Mark Gerretsen from Kingston was calling for the government to make sure information on the Internet was accurate, citing the coronavirus pandemic as the reason we need to act.
“The surge of online misinformation regarding COVID-19 has been termed an ‘infodemic’ by the WHO,” Gerretsen said. “While we know that physical distancing is important to keep Canadians safe, we must also be mindful of the importance of sharing reliable, trustworthy information.”
Who would judge which information is reliable and trustworthy? Would it be the government?
Let me just point out that the Trudeau government and groups such as the World Health Organization were telling us early on that there was no human-to-human transmission of COVID-19. That turned out to be false.
As I and others called for travel restrictions and better screening at airports, we were told by the very same government that travel bans and restrictions did not work. Nearly two months after I first called for restrictions, the government fully closed the borders, saying it had to be done to keep the country safe. Almost three months later those border crossings remain closed.
Finally, on this point, we were told for months by this government that we should not wear masks to protect ourselves or others from COVID-19, that again, it would do more harm than good. Now we are told to wear masks outside of the home.
All during this time, the government was telling the public to listen to trusted and reliable sources of information and not those spreading falsehoods — meaning wear a mask, close the borders and that human-to-human transmission was a reality.
Now this same government wants to talk about regulating what is published on the Internet and claiming the moral high ground of making sure that they decide what you get to hear about the pandemic.
No thank you, I can sift out real information from false without the government, thank you.
Another reason Gerretsen cited for the government needing to weed out bad info on the Internet was democracy.
“Malicious actors are, right now, attempting to erode democratic institutions through the spread of malicious falsehoods that create confusion, sow division and cause harm,” Gerretsen said.
Do these guys listen to themselves?
Gerretsen is part of party that spent the last election spreading all kinds of lies and misinformation about their opponents, all in the name of seizing power through a democratic election.
I’ve been around long enough to be skeptical of all governments and know not to grant them any type of power to regulate what is said in print or online.
We have laws in place to deal with libel, slander or hate speech. These laws are tightly structured and rightly have a high legal bar.
Giving the government any control over what is published online or anywhere else is a recipe for disaster. Yet if you support this idea because you support the Liberals, ask yourself if you’d be happy giving a Conservative government these types of powers.
If the answer is no, then the Liberals shouldn’t seek them either.

Obama-era intel analyst for Defense, State Depts guarantees bail for Molotov cocktail lawyer
By J.E. Dyer June 5, 2020
A little intro to a story we ran as a headline on 4 June, about an “Obama-era intelligence official” named Salmah Rizvi.
This sounds jazzier when the individual is described as an “intelligence official,” but she was basically a translator who worked her way into an analyst role before heading off to law school (NYU, ’16). She was an intern in Defense agencies – because of her translation skills – while still in college (Johns Hopkins, ’08). That put her in her internships in the Bush 43 years. She was also a Truman Fellow working in government during that period.
She worked in government for about 6 years, in her 20s, before leaving for law school. Because she’s a Muslim and a go-getter, she ended up heading a committee at NSA dedicated to integrating Muslims more effectively in intelligence. So the story is not unimportant, as it reminds us of the perennial priorities of the Obama administration. But her role and stature should not be overinterpreted.

Los Angeles starts to defund its police
By Hans Bader June 4, 2020
Hillary Clinton’s former national press secretary, Brian Fallon, called “for police departments to be defunded across the country,” reports The Hill. Meanwhile, the City of Los Angeles, which recently witnessed violence and looting, is planning to partly defund its police department. The staunchly progressive city plans to cut its police department budget by $150 million. As Adam Ford notes:

Germany: Merkel “appalled” by George Floyd killing – govt spokesperson
German Chancellor Angela Merkel was ‘appalled’ by the killing of George Floyd, government spokesperson Steffen Seibert told journalists in Berlin on Friday.
“The federal chancellor, as many people in the world, is appalled by this case [George Floyd’s death]. The memorial service yesterday for George Floyd has once again made the whole tragedy clear in a very emotional way, both the tragedy of the killing of this man as well as the racism which black people experience in the US,” said Seibert.
“She has great sympathy for the many people who peacefully take to the streets to protest against racism and against police violence. Therein and in the whole debate happening in the society, media and political level in the USA she sees a sign of the strong American democracy and she hopes the country will come together again based on this foundation,” he added.
The conflict in Libya was also mentioned during the news conference. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Christofer Burger said Germany was monitoring the developments ‘with a great concern’, as fighting continued continue in eastern Tripoli.
“As you know, for a long time we have been demanding a long-lasting ceasefire and for this purpose a return to the 5+5 talks. They have started now by videoconference between the United States and the respective parties. We see it as a positive sign. However, the positions of the conflict parties still are very far apart. In that sense, the international backers from both sides still have the responsibility to facilitate the conflict parties so that progress can be reached,” said Burger.
Touching upon the coronavirus numbers, Seibert said that despite the official statistics looking good, “the pandemic is there and should not be underestimated.” He also added that there have been a number of violations of the measures in Berlin, but also in Goettingen to Friesland, Bremmerhafen or Frankfurt, which lead to an increase in coronavirus cases.
“Wherever there’s a blatant disrespect for the rules and distance measures, the numbers of infections can spike really fast,” said Seibert.

Austria’s rising Islamophobia worries EU experts
The high level of anti-Muslim hatred in Austria is a rising concern, according to an expert commission of the Council of Europe.
An annual report published Tuesday by the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) elaborates that the public discourse has become “increasingly xenophobic,” and the political scene is taking part as well. The report describes political speeches as “highly divisive and antagonistic,” targeting Muslims and refugees.
“Certain politicians and media persist in portraying Muslims in a negative light,” it said. “Claims about a presumed lack of integration of Muslims in Austria and about their alleged opposition to ‘fundamental Austrian values’ leading to violent extremism remain common in public discourse and contribute to a climate of mistrust and fear of Muslims.”
One example of the populistic approach is seen in the discussion of girls wearing headscarves at primary schools. The report said that the School Education Act in 2019 “raises concern regarding the principles of lawfulness, neutrality and non-discrimination.” It went on to say that there has been a steady increase in discrimination in educational institutions. While there were only 47 such cases reported in 2016, the numbers rose to 173 in 2017, reaching a peak in 2018 with 260.
The general intolerant discourse toward Muslims raises further concerns, the report said, using two studies as examples. According to a study in 2017, around 28% of the Austrian population do not want Muslim neighbors while 65% were against further migration from Muslim states. Another study showed that in the previous year, 32% of the questioned Muslims said they had experienced “harassment due to their ethnic or immigrant background.”
ECRI also appealed to the parties to adopt policies that prohibit hate speech. They recommend that Austrian authorities establish closer cooperation between the police and risk groups, especially people of color and Muslims.

This is one of the facts about the Chinese aggression that everyone is ignoring. Japan is rearming and they have always had a first class military, small but first class. The question is which direction will Japan move, towards supporting freedom in the Far East or are they going to decide to return to the Imperial dream that led to WWII?)
Chinese at the Gates
Washington is awash with rumors of millions of Hong Kong residents moving to America.

Michael Ledeen
The Chinese are at our gates, eagerly rewriting the laws against civic disobedience within Hong Kong. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is supporting the people of Hong Kong who support democracy:
U.S. State Secretary Mike Pompeo said on June 1 that the United States is worried that if Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Carrie Lam cancels the elections or postpones them “that there would be violence or something like that, which is just unfounded.”
“The Hong Kongers have held successful elections for years and years, so we are urging Hong Kong to continue to move forward for those,” he said during an interview with American Enterprise Institute (AEI).
The elections are currently scheduled for the first week in September, and there are fears of violence as Hong Kong moves toward assimilation with mainland China. Washington is awash with rumors of millions of Hong Kong residents moving to America. The head of the pro-democracy forces in Hong Kong, Joshua Wong, faced a grim future:

“Peaceful Protest” Turned Violent When Rioters Went to Police Officers’ Homes to Set Their Cars on Fire

These riots are an exercise in political intimidation. Their goal is to break the police and turn over entire cities to the thugs who can then blackmail the political authorities and the citizenry into meeting any of their demands through violence and intimidation.

Great plan there. UN agency: Iran violating all restrictions of nuclear deal (abcnews, Jun 5, 2020)
https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/agency-iran-violating-restrictions-nuclear-deal-71090757
“Iran has continued to increase its stockpiles of enriched uranium and remains in violation of its deal with world powers, the United Nations’ atomic watchdog said Friday.
The International Atomic Energy Agency reported the finding in a confidential document distributed to member countries and seen by The Associated Press.
The agency said that as of May 20, Iran’s total stockpile of low-enriched uranium amounted to 1,571.6 kilograms (1.73 tons), up from 1,020.9 kilograms (1.1 tons) on Feb. 19.
Iran signed the nuclear deal in 2015 with the United States, Germany, France, Britain, China and Russia. Known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA, it allows Iran only to keep a stockpile of 202.8 kilograms (447 pounds).
The IAEA reported that Iran has also been continuing to enrich uranium to a purity of up to 4.5%, higher than the 3.67% allowed under the JCPOA. It is also above the pact’s limitations on heavy water.
The nuclear deal promised Iran economic incentives in return for the curbs on its nuclear program. President Donald Trump pulled the U.S. out of the deal unilaterally in 2018, saying it needed to be renegotiated. Iran has since slowly violated the restrictions to try and pressure the remaining nations to increase the incentives to offset new, economy-crippling U.S. sanctions.
The ultimate goal of the JCPOA is to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear bomb. Since the U.S. withdrawal, Iran has stockpiled enough uranium to produce a weapon, although the government in Tehran insists it has no such goal and that its atomic program is only for producing energy.
According to the Washington-based Arms Control Association, Iran would need roughly 1050 kilograms (1.16 tons) of low-enriched uranium — under 5% purity — and would then need to enrich it further to weapons-grade, or more than 90% purity, to make a nuclear weapon.
With the nuclear deal in place, Iran’s so-called breakout time — the period Tehran would need to build a bomb if it chose to — stood at around a year. As Iran has stepped away from the limits of the 2015 deal, it slowly has narrowed that window.
However, that doesn’t mean Iran would immediately rush toward building a bomb if all the materials were in place.
Before agreeing to the nuclear deal, Iran enriched its uranium up to 20% purity, which is just a short technical step away from the weapons-grade level of 90%. In 2013, Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium was already more than 7,000 kilograms (7.72 tons) with higher enrichment, but it didn’t pursue a bomb.
As the country has expanded its nuclear program, Iran has been open about the violations and continues to allow inspectors for the U.N. atomic agency access to iacilities to monitor their operations.
It remains in violation of all the main restrictions outlined by the JCPOA, which Tehran says it hopes will pressure the other nations involved to increase economic incentives to make up for hard-hitting sanctions imposed by Washington after the U.S. withdrawal.
Though Iran has been hard hit by the new coronavirus pandemic, the IAEA said it has maintained its verification and monitoring activities in the country, primarily by chartering aircraft to fly inspectors to and from Iran.
It cited “exceptional cooperation” from authorities in Austria, where it is based, and Iran in facilitating the operation.
The agency raised concerns, however, about access to two of three locations it identified in March as places where Iran possibly stored and/or used undeclared nuclear material or undertook nuclear-related activities without declaring them to international observers.
Activities at all three sites are thought to have been from the early 2000s. The IAEA said in its current report that it had determined that one site had undergone “extensive sanitization and leveling” in 2003 and 2004 and there would be no verification value in inspecting it.
It said Iran has, for more than four months, blocked access to the other two locations, one of which was partially demolished in 2004 and the other at which the agency observed activities “consistent with efforts to sanitize” the facility from July 2019 onward.
The watchdog agency added that Iran has also “not engaged in any substantive discussions” with the IAEA to answer its question about possible undeclared nuclear material and activities for almost a year.”
US airstrikes hit Taliban; 10 Afghan police killed in ambush (abcnews, Jun 5, 2020)
https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/us-airstrikes-hit-taliban-10-afghan-police-killed-71089412
“U.S. forces carried out two sets of airstrikes against the Taliban, in western and southern Afghanistan, a U.S. military spokesman said Friday. Elsewhere in the south, the Taliban set off a roadside bomb and ambushed a police convoy, killing 10 Afghan policemen.
The U.S. strikes against the Taliban were the first following a brief cease-fire declared by the insurgents for a major Muslim holiday last month.
A U.S. military spokesman, Col. Sonny Leggett, said one set of airstrikes took place on Friday afternoon in western Farah province, targeting 25 Taliban fighters who were attacking Afghan forces. Hours earlier, on Thursday night, the U.S. air forces struck an unknown number of Taliban in southern Kandahar province, he said. There was no immediate comment from the Taliban.
Since the signing of the U.S.-Taliban peace agreement at the end of February, U.S. forces have only once before announced a strike against the Taliban, in defense of Afghan forces. Leggett did not elaborate on the latest airstrikes or their targets.
However, an Afghan government official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media, said three senior Taliban commanders and at least 13 other fighters were killed in the Farah airstrikes.
Meanwhile, Afghan officials in southern Zabul province said the Taliban there ambushed an Afghan police convoy after setting off a roadside bomb on Friday, killing 10 policemen.
Interior ministry spokesman Tariq Arian said the explosion destroyed several police vehicles. A subsequent shootout also killed four Taliban fighters, he said.
The Taliban did not immediately claim responsibility for the attack. Since the cease-fire ended, the insurgents have claimed only one attack.”
French Defense Minister Says Head of North Africa al-Qaeda Killed in Mali (sputniknews, Jun 5, 2020)
https://sputniknews.com/africa/202006051079532261-french-defense-minister-says-head-of-al-qaedas-north-africa-branch-killed-in-mali/
“French Defense Minister Florence Parly announced on Friday that Abdelmalek Droukdel, the commander of al-Qaeda North Africa, had been killed by French forces in northern Mali.
“On June 3, the French armed forces, with the support of their partners, neutralized the emir of Al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQMI), Abdelmalek Droukdal and several of his close collaborators, during an operation in northern Mali,” Parly said in a French statement on Twitter.
Also known as Abu Musab Abdel Wadoud, Droukdel commanded the group’s forces in North Africa and parts of western Africa.
According to L’Alsace, Droukdel claimed responsibility for several deadly terrorist attacks, including an attack against the UN headquarters in Algiers in 2007 that killed 62 people. The BBC noted he may be responsible for introducing suicide bombing to Algeria.
France has deployed more than 5,000 soldiers to western Africa, where several countries that were once colonies of Paris have become embroiled in an irregular war against terrorist groups including al-Qaeda and Daesh, which have both established franchise groups in the region.

3 & 8 – One of the real big tactics the left uses in their urban guerilla wars is to target the police to try and scare people out of the police forces. After this has happened the left will then start going after the families of the police, I know they have arrested some people who were headed out to but the family cars of police officers. The left isn’t trying to hide the fact they are pushing a war in fact they are glorying in the idea of an urban war. Where they are running into problems is 1) their small numbers compared to those they are fighting and the fact that so many of the people in the US are armed to the teeth and are ready to fight for our families, our friends and our nation. We have problems in the US but we are working on them and are still the place where others want to go to become free.
