Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

The CCP did a coverup, then pinko western opportunists whose only modus operandi is to hijack trends and events for exploitation, maximize the probability of desired outcomes through deft adaptation, and ride it to economic and social ruination for fun a profit.

In the mother of all coincidences, this “accident” was predicted, on the record, by Gates and Fauci.

Johnnys on the spot, they both were prepositioned to big pharma to push the savior vaccine even despite, in Fauci’s case, having extensive understanding of the utility of hydroxychloroquine to offer a cheap and available alternative treatment.

  2. Germany: Ridiculously lenient sentences for Syrian gang rapists of a 14-year-old girl

Regarding the gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in Laupheim, the Regional Court of Ravensburg has now sentenced three accused men. For Judge Franz Bernhard it is obvious: The three men, then aged 19, 20 and 32, raped a 14-year-old girl on the 13th of November 2019 and sexually abused her 13-year-old girlfriend. They committed the crime in Laupheim, in the Vorholz solar park near the federal highway B30. All three were sentenced to prison for this. The men who had been remanded in custody since the crime had admitted to the sexual acts, but they stated that they were consensual and that the girls had not told them their age. “We don’t believe that,” said Judge Franz Bernhard in the verdict. According to the court, the 14-year-old girl had been made will-less – by alcohol and drugs. She even vomited several times and fell asleep.According to the court, the two girls had been using social media that night to ask where else they could hang out. Thereupon the three now convicted men are said to have contacted them. They picked up the girls that night and took them to the garage at the Laupheim solar park near the federal highway B30. There they then committed sexual assault on the victims.

The oldest of the accused, then 32 years old, was sentenced to a total sentence of 3 years and 6 months for a violation of the narcotics law and for sexual acts of the 14-year-old girl. He had also rented the garage in the solar park where the crime took place.

The youngest of the offenders, then 19 years old, was sentenced by the judge to 3 years and .6 months – both for rape and for other sexual acts with the 14-year-old. Also for the sexual abuse of children on the 13-year-old, who witnessed the rape of her friend. However, he was convicted under the juvenile criminal code. The Syrian’s personality, the court stated, had considerable deficits, both “with regard to his image of women and to education and language.

His brother, who was 20 years old at the time, was also sentenced to 3 years and 6 months by the Regional Court of Ravensburg according to adult criminal law. For sexual abuse of children, to the detriment of the 13-year-old and for sexual acts with her 14-year-old friend.

Two other men, aged 27 and 34 years, are said to have been involved. These were under investigation for failure to provide assistance and for drug offences. They are still at large, as the conditions for an arrest warrant have not been fulfilled.

  3. Imran Khan Terms Modi Govt’s ‘Arrogant Expansionist’ Policies Threat to Nepal, China, Pakistan (sputniknews, May 27, 2020)
    https://sputniknews.com/world/202005271079427330-imran-khan-terms-modi-govts-arrogant-expansionist-policies-threat-to-nepal-china-pakistan-/

“Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has been taking potshots at his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi. He often refers to him as a “Hindutva Supremacist” and describes his ideology as “Nazi-inspired”.

Imran Khan has alerted the international community to what he describes India’s “arrogant, expansionist policies” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

While claiming that New Delhi’s approach is a threat to peace and stability in the region, Khan made a series of allegations against India on Wednesday highlighting an alleged false flag operation in Kashmir, a threat to Bangladesh through the Citizenship Amendment Act and the recent border dispute with Nepal and China.

“The Hindutva Supremacist Modi Govt with its arrogant expansionist policies, akin to Nazi’s Lebensraum (Living Space), is becoming a threat to India’s neighbours. Bangladesh through Citizenship Act, border disputes with Nepal & China, & Pak threatened with false flag operation,” said Khan in a Tweet on Wednesday.
Khan said the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was a war crime under the Geneva Convention and objected to India claiming Pakistan administered Kashmir.

“All this after illegal annexation of India Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a war crime under 4th Geneva Convention, & laying claim to Azad Jammu and Kashmir. I have always maintained the fascist Modi Govt is not only a threat to India’s minorities by relegating them to 2nd class citizens’ status, but also threat to regional peace,” he added.
The comments from Khan followed tensions between the armies of India and China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh over the construction of a critical road by New Delhi. Due to the ongoing skirmish, India has stationed more troops and heavy armour along the LAC and China.

Beijing claims that India has entered China and built military installations but India has denied the allegations.

A border dispute recently erupted with Nepal over a road construction via Lipulekh that connects India with Tibet. Nepal claims authority over Lipulekh while a new map released by the Indian home ministry includes the region as part of India.

Pakistan has been particularly critical of India since the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government came to power, and Khan has been more recently been seeking to draw global attention to India’s Citizenship Amendment Act, which grant citizenships to non-Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.”

  4. US Informed India, China It is Ready to Mediate Their ‘Raging Border Dispute’ – Trump (sputniknews, May 27, 2020)
    https://sputniknews.com/world/202005271079431996-us-informed-india-china-it-is-ready-to-mediate-their-raging-border-dispute—trump–/

“The border dispute between India and China intensified earlier this month after the two neighbours became involved in a physical altercation over infrastructure development along the Line of Actual Control.

US President Donald Trump took to Twitter to inform India and China about Washington’s readiness to mediate their border dispute.

This comes amid a standoff between India and China that has intensified in the past few weeks after New Delhi started construction of a key road along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh. Both countries have reinforced troops on the border amid the ongoing standoff.

India and China share a roughly 4,000-kilometre border ranging from Kashmir to Arunachal Pradesh.

On Wednesday, India’s top army commanders met for a three-day conference in New Delhi to discuss the current security situation along the borders with China and Pakistan.

  5. LNA Surprised by Claims of ‘Russian Aircraft’ in Libya – Spokesman (sputniknews, May 27, 2020)
    https://sputniknews.com/world/202005271079426122-lna-surprised-by-claims-of-russian-aircraft-in-libya—spokesman/

“The Libyan National Army (LNA) believes the US military’s statements about the alleged arrival of Russian military aircraft in Libya are strange, LNA spokesman Maj. Gen. Ahmad al-Mismari said on Al Arabiya TV channel.

The US Africa Command (AFRICOM) issued a statement on Tuesday claiming that Russian combat jets allegedly arrived in Libya to support the LNA.

“We find strange such statements, which mention the increase in the combat readiness of the army, that we have various types of Russian aircraft… we also find it strange that these reports do not mention the interference and expansion of Turkey in our country and the transfer of tens of thousands of mercenaries from Turkey”, al-Mismari said.
Russia has repeatedly denied accusations of involvement in the Libyan conflict, calling claims about the alleged presence of Russian mercenaries there unfounded, while Moscow favours a peaceful settlement of the situation in that country and maintains contacts with both parties.

The political crisis that has gripped Libya ever since the murder of Muammar Gaddafi back in 2011. The country has been torn between the two main centres of power — an elected parliament in the country’s east, supported by the LNA, and the GNA in the country’s west.”

  6. Dengue fever alarm raised in Spain as horror tiger mosquito ‘all over Mediterranean coast’ (express, May 27, 2020)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1287677/dengue-fever-spain-health-warning-panic-news

“EXPERTS have warned there is a risk of a dengue fever outbreak in Spain, as the country battles to contain the spread of coronavirus.

As Spain begins to ease lockdown restrictions and starts to allow tourists to finally return to the country, health authorities are warning they must be “prepared for the prevention and control of new outbreaks”.

Rosa Cano Portero, member of the Public Health Surveillance Group of Spanish Society of Epidemiology, and Beatriz Fernández Martínez, epidemiologist, said the tiger mosquito is “all over the Mediterranean coast, a large part of Andalusia and some inland regions”.

She warned the mosquitoes, which spread the disease, “continue to expand” due to human factors including “trade, the global economy, displacement” as well as environmental factors.

She said: “It is believed that climate change may favour its expansion to new areas further north.

“The regions where there is more risk are those that have had Aedes albopictus (tiger mosquito) established for the longest time and have large movements of people.

“In the regions, Public Health Services establish appropriate plans that are activated during the season of the vector and that usually coincides with that of the largest tourist movements.”

Over the last three years, around 200 cases a year have been reported to the National Epidemiological Surveillance Network in Spain.

Most of these cases were imported cases from the likes of Latin America and Asia, where the disease is endemic.

Spain has recorded autochthonous cases of the fever – those developed locally – since 2018, with six found that year and one last year. These cases were all attributed to tiger mosquitos.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) said the number of dengue cases has “increased enormously”, with figures multiplying by 30 in recent decades.

WHO warned “about half of the world’s population has the risk of contracting the disease”.

Globally, it is estimated there are around 50 to 100 million cases.

Carme Carrion Ribas, director of the Master in Digital Health at the Open University of Catalonia, said: “It is impossible to predict when and it does not have to be immediate, but the risk exists.””

  7. China insider exposes ‘BRAINWASHING plan’ as teachers sent to reeducate Hong Kong children (express, May 27, 2020)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1287610/china-hong-kong-brainwashing-security-law-chris-patten-malcolm-rifkind

“TEACHERS from mainland China are being sent to Hong Kong to “reeducate” children in an ominous move which is certain to trigger concerns about brainwashing.

The news comes the day before China’s Parliament is due to pass a controversial new security law which is widely seen as a bid to curtail Hong Kong’s autonomous status, prompting senior figures including former British Governor Chris Patten to voice grave concerns. The ministry of education in Beijing is planning to dispatch 60 “teaching instructors” from mainland provinces Hunan, Hainan, Anhui, and Liaoning to schools in Hong Kong, as well as Macau, the former Portuguese enclave, to teach youngsters ranging from nursery to secondary school age in the areas of history and language.

The proposals are outlined in a series of directions issued by provincial education bureaus in Hunan, Hainan, and Shanxi.

Specifically teachers are being sent to teach “patriotic education”, according to online recruitment notices.

The Hunan directive was issued to education authorities in Changsha, Hengyang, Zhuzhou, and Chenzhou cities on April 4.

The notice describes the duties of the new teachers as including “preparing lessons, observing classes, evaluating courses and conducting teaching demonstrations, evaluating teaching materials and teacher training.”

It adds: “Please select excellent teachers with strong political stances, rich teaching experience, outstanding business skills, and good coordination and cooperative skills.”

One insider, based in the central Chinese city of Henan, suggested the strategy was a bid to “re-educate” the people of Hong Kong to toe the party line.

They told the Radio Free Asia website: “They are staking out territory in the realm of education, which means they are catching them young, and instilling ideas into them that the Chinese authorities find acceptable.”

Today has seen further clashes between pro-democracy demonstrators and security forces in Hong Kong.

Police fired pepper pellets to disperse protesters in the heart of the global financial centre, arresting about 240 people as the national security legislation proposed by Beijing revived anti-government demonstrations.

Riot police were deployed around Hong Kong’s Legislative Council, deterring protesters who had planned to gather there as a bill was due to be debated which would criminalise disrespect of the Chinese national anthem.

Explaining her presence at the demonstration, Chang, 29, a clerk and protester dressed in black with a helmet respirator and goggles in her backpack, said: “Although you’re afraid inside your heart, you need to speak out,”

The law, aimed at tackling what the Chinese Government regards as secession, subversion and terrorist activities in the city, prompted the first big street unrest in Hong Kong in months on Sunday.

A statement issued by 253 parliamentarians and policymakers from 29 countries yesterday, led by Lord Patten and former Foreign Secretary Sir Malcolm Rifkind, condemned the legislation.

It said: “This is a comprehensive assault on the city’s autonomy, rule of law, and fundamental freedoms.

“It is the genuine grievances of ordinary Hong Kongers that are driving protests.

“Draconian laws will only escalate the situation further, jeapordising Hong Kong’s future as an open Chinese international city.”

Speaking on Saturday, Professor Steve Tsang, director of the China Institute at the School of African and Oriental Studies in London, told Express: “It is hard to see this new development not causing people in HK to demonstrate and protest, which will be met with repression.

“The result will be an escalation of confrontation leading to violence which may make what happened in HK in the second half of last year look tame.

“The new law provides for the Mainland Chinese security forces to be set up and deployed in HK if necessary, which suggests that Beijing knows this will happen and is prepared to send Mainland Chinese security forces if and when Beijing deems the HK Police unable to do what it desires.

“A totally avoidable and, indeed, unnecessary, tragedy in the making.””

  9. Saudi Sheikh who owns £45m London mansion is locked in a feud with exclusive Mayfair casino over ‘£2 million gambling debt’ (dailymail, May 27, 2020)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8361077/Saudi-Sheikh-locked-feud-exclusive-Mayfair-casino-2-million-gambling-debt.html

“A Saudi Sheikh estimated to have assets of more than £100 million is locked in a alleged gambling debt dispute with an exclusive London casino which featured in the Bond film Dr No.

Sheikh Salah Hamdan Al Balawi is accused of failing to settle what the Les Ambassadeurs Club, off Park Lane, has claimed is a £2 million debt.

The dispute has reached the High Court where on Friday a judge removed a freezing order on the Sheikh’s global assets which was imposed in February.

The order was enforced after the casino claimed it had been unable to contact the Sheikh and that he had ‘gone to ground’ after his cheques bounced in September last year, The Evening Standard reported.

However, on Friday, the worldwide freezing order was discharged by the judge, while the dispute over the alleged debt continues.

The Sheikh, 52, whose company SAB Ventures owns a £45 million mansion in Carlton House Terrace, which had been bought in 2017 from The Queen’s Crown Estate, had fought the freezing order and argued ‘that the debts comprise illegal gambling debts’, said Mr Justice Freedman.

The casino claimed: ‘Despite a promise of payment from Mr Al Balawi it never materialises and he ultimately goes to ground.’

‘It is the combination of Mr Al Balawi’s failure to pay, coupled with his silence and apparent going to ground in Saudi Arabia, combined with a jurisdiction that is hostile to gaming debts and in which a relevant order of the English court would not be enforced that justifies the making of the (freezing) order,’ the casino said.

It added that the Sheikh had gone to Saudi Arabia, ‘where such debts…are completely unenforceable.’

The Sheikh, who says he and his wife have culminated assets of more than £100 million through their companies, accepted responsibility for the cheques not clearing but says he warned the casino that would happen.

He added he had previously been suspended from the casino over unpaid debts but was reinstated once they were settled.

He also denied that he had ‘gone to ground’ and said he regularly travels between Saudi Arabia and London and had not picked up the initial communications from the casino.

The court heard the Sheikh was a ‘significant player’ at the casino since signing up as a member in 1993. He is said to have bought around £14 million of gaming chips and sustained losses of around £5 million.

In his ruling, Mr Justice Freedman said casino staff know the Sheikh is very wealthy and had visited his home in Carlton House Terrace.

He said Sheikh had not been ‘frank’ about the state of his debts to other casinos, but that given his wealth and ties to London and Jersey there was little risk of that the casino wouldn’t be able to retrieve its money.

The judge also found that the casino had not fully informed the court about the value of the property in Carlton House Terrace, while the phrase ‘gone to ground’ could have been misleading about the Sheikh’s position.

Mr Al Balawi’s company website, SAB Group, describes him as the Chairman of SAB Holding and a world-leading entrepreneur.

He has a raft of companies operating in the Middle East along with an investment arm, SAB Investment, that ‘has created market defining businesses in the Communications. Logistics, Retail, Real Estate, Medical, Travel, Construction and Luxury goods sectors.’

‘Operationally focused the Group provides strong, commercial and sound, ethically led support for business expansion throughout the world,’ it adds.

Sheikh Salah Hamdan Al Belawi’s partnerships include: TNT, Intel, B&B Italia, Newscorp, Microsoft and other leading Media partners including MBC.

The site lists construction projects, project development, engineering & project management and facility management as the company’s core services.

    The gambling dispute continues.”

  10. UN Admits 70 Per Cent of Boat Migrants Not Eligible for Asylum (breitbart, May 27, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/05/27/un-admits-majority-boat-migrants/

“The vast majority of boat migrants are not refugees, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has admitted.

Vincent Cochetel, the UNHCR special envoy for the illegal immigration situation in the Mediterranean, demanded EU member states give private NGOs unimpeded access to ferry migrants to Europe.

In an interview with InfoMigrants published on Tuesday, the French official claimed that so-called sea rescue is a “basic principle of humanity”, likening open borders NGOs to the emergency services, such as fire brigades.

“If European states do not want to take responsibility for rescue at sea, let them make way for civil society actors,” he said. However, he failed to comment on the fact that European taxpayers — rather than mass migration-backing NGOs — are left housing and footing the bill for migrants who are picked up in the Mediterranean.

“Only 30 per cent of those who set sail from Libya are in need of protection. This, therefore, means that 70 per cent have no intention of seeking asylum in Europe,” Cochetel told InfoMigrants, before going on to suggest that EU nations should step up deportation of illegal immigrants.

Noting that the mass importation of people continuing as it has been will lead to a credibility problem in future Cochetel continued:

“A fair and equitable return mechanism must also be put in place. Because otherwise the whole asylum system will be called into question by European states and their peoples.”

Asked about an increasing number of Algerians headed to Europe, Cochetel said he believed the “exodus” of North Africans was due to a lack of economic opportunity, “worsened by restrictions imposed by coronavirus”.

While pro-open borders NGOs — an industry which has exploded in growth in recent years — demand EU nations be forced to take in a limitless number of migrants from the third world, native Europeans are also suffering tough economic times as a result of the novel coronavirus.

Breitbart London recently reported how populists in Italy have been infuriated by the liberal government’s decision to grant a ‘temporary’ amnesty to up to 600,000 migrants earlier this month, as nearly a third of Italian businesses are set to close permanently and while millions of people are out of work due to the country’s coronavirus shutdown.

According to UN data collected since January, the most common nations of origin of Mediterranean migrant arrivals this year are Afghanistan and Syria, followed by Morocco and Algeria.

Regarding other routes into Europe, the UN Migration Agency/International Organization for Migration (IOM) has previously estimated that “80 to 85 per cent” of migrants attempting to break into EU nations via the Balkans are “economic migrants and not people who need international protection”.

More than a third of these migrants are from Pakistan while around one in five purports to be Syrian, according to IOM coordinator for the region, Peter Van der Auweraert.

“But concerning the Syrians, I have doubts because we also have a number of people from North Africa who say they are Syrian,” he told euronews in 2018.”

  11. Iran’s president pushes for harsher laws on honor killings (abcnews, May 27, 2020)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/irans-president-pushes-harsher-laws-honor-killings-70902115

“Iran’s president urged his Cabinet on Wednesday to speed up harsher laws in so-called honor killings, after a particularly disturbing slaying of a 14-year-old girl by her father shocked the nation.

President Hassan Rouhani pushed for speedy adoption of relevant bills, some which have apparently shuttled for years among various decision-making bodies in Iran.

The killing of teen Romina Ashrafi last week in the Iranian town of Talesh, some 320 kilometers (198 miles) northwest of the capital, Tehran, prompted a nationwide outcry. She was reportedly beheaded while sleeping by her father, Reza Ashrafi, who used a farming sickle to kill his daughter.

The father, who is now in custody, was apparently enraged after she ran away with her 34-year-old boyfriend Bahamn Khavari in Talesh. In rural areas of Iran, it’s unheard of for teenage girls to run away from home to be with their boyfriends.

After five days, Romina was found and taken to a police station, from where her father brought her back home. The girl reportedly told the police she feared a violent reaction from her father.

Rouhani expressed regret over the tragic case.

There is little data on honor killings in Iran, where local media occasionally report on such cases. Under the law, girls can marry after the age of 13, though the average age of marriage for Iranian women is 23. It is not known how many women and young girls are killed by family members or close relatives because of their actions, perceived as violating conservative Islamic norms on love and marriage.

Iran’s judiciary said Romina’s case will be tried in a special court. Under the current law, her father faces a prison sentence of up to 10 years.

Iran’s vice-president in charge of family affairs, Masoumeh Ebtekar, expressed hope that a bill with harsher punishments will soon be in the final stages of approval.”

  12. Saudi police: 6 killed in shootout dispute between families (abcnews, May 27, 2020)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/saudi-police-killed-shootout-dispute-families-70898689

“A shootout in a southwestern province in Saudi Arabia that local reports say was sparked by a dispute between two families has killed six people, a police spokesman said Wednesday.

According to the spokesman, Lt. Col. Zayed al-Dabbash, three others were wounded in the violence in Asir province on Tuesday. The spokesman was quoted by the state-run Saudi Press Agency as saying that the fatalities were all Saudi citizens. He said police seized weapons used in the crime and that prosecutors were investigating

Mass shootings are rare in the kingdom, and the police official gave no indication the shooting was terror-related.

Local media said the shooting involved two dueling families, though the cause of their dispute was unclear. It took place in al-Amuwa, a landlocked region of Asir.”

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/suspected-militants-kill-pakistani-policemen-islamabad-70896957

“Two suspected militants riding on a motorcycle opened fire on two policemen manning a roadside checkpoint on the outskirts of the capital, Islamabad, killing both of them before fleeing the scene, the police said Wednesday.

The attack took place on Tuesday night in the city’s area of Tarnol and was reportedly claimed by Hizbul Ahrar, a splinter group of the Pakistani Taliban.

According to the initial police investigation, two gunmen were involved in the attack and they opened fire when the officers signaled for them to stop.

Islamabad’s police chief, Amir Zulfiqar Khan, condemned the attack and ordered a probe. The funeral for the two slain officers, Sajid Ahmed and Mohsin Zafar, was held before dawn Wednesday.

The attack comes as Pakistan, a country of 220 million people, struggles to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Authorities have reported over 59,000 cases, including 1,225 deaths.”

  15. MEMRI – Egyptian Islamic Scholar Dr. Haitham Talaat: Atheists a Thousand Times Worse than Terrorists

Egyptian Islamic scholar Dr. Haitham Talaat said in video that he had uploaded to his YouTube channel on March 27, 2020, that atheists are social outcasts with whom people should not have a dialogue.

He said that atheists are infidels and apostates who are guilty of the worst crime in the world and who are a thousand times worse than terrorists or armed robbers.

Dr. Talaat said that engaging in dialogue with atheists can lead one to become an infidel, to become nihilistic, and to believe that human beings are “just advanced fish.”

He added that the “inevitable outcome” of absorbing these ideas is suicide.

  16. BREITBART – Italy: 96% of Coronavirus Fatalities Had Other Chronic Illnesses

ROME — The overwhelming majority of deaths with coronavirus in Italy have occurred in the presence of two or more serious chronic illnesses, according to a report from the country’s national health authority (ISS).

Italian health authorities announced in a recent report that only 4.1 percent of fatalities testing positive for Wuhan coronavirus happened in the absence of serious comorbidities, while the average age of the deceased was over 80 years.

The average number of comorbidities among all Italian deaths with the coronavirus was 3.1, ISS revealed. Just 15 percent of fatalities occurred with the presence of just one other serious pathology, while 21.4 percent died with two other pathologies, and 59.6 percent with three or more pathologies.

    https://media.breitbart.com/media/2020/05/comorbidities.jpg

The most common comorbidities were arterial hypertension (in 68.3 percent of cases), type-2 diabetes (30.1 percent of cases), ischemic heart disease (in 28.2 percent), atrial fibrillation (22.5 percent), chronic renal failure (20.4 percent).

The report also revealed an average age of 81 among those who have died with coronavirus in Italy. One of the most astonishing findings of the report was that only 1.1 percent of all coronavirus deaths in the country happened to people below the age of 50, while more than 57 percent were over 80.

“The latest numbers show that new cases and fatalities have a common profile: mostly elderly people with previous illnesses,” said ISS president Silvio Brusaferro at a news conference Friday.

As of May 26, the number of active cases of coronavirus in Italy had fallen to 52,942. The total number of deaths with the disease have been 32,955, while total recorded cases stands at 230,555.

This week Spain had to revise down its official death count for the coronavirus by nearly 2,000 after discovering a series of reporting errors and duplications.

The Spanish Health Ministry announced Monday that it removed 1,918 spurious deaths from the official death toll, representing a seven percent drop in the total deaths reported.

It’s now obvious that we all need to keep our eyes and ears open to that which Big Tech and the government continue to censor to “save us” from “misinformation.” Google Drive, at the request of The Washington Post, has taken down a user’s personal copy of the movie “Plandemic.”

Ever since Big Tech platforms started cracking down on what they deem to be “coronavirus misinformation” (information they don’t want you to know about), the media has been willfully flagging alleged violations to social media companies and getting content taken down, reported News Break.

In other words, they want us to remain in a panic-induced state of fear and only listen to the mainstream media’s official Operation Mockingbird narrative about the entire Plandemic. And because you are not supposed to know anything else, Google drive has removed a user’s personal copy of Dr. Judy Mikovitz’s “Plandemic” after it was flagged by the Washington Post.

It doesn’t get more blatant than this, folks. We are being lied to and expected to stay fearful and obey the ruling class at all costs. It’s going to get ugly by the end of this year if tyrants don’t release their grip on power…and we know they won’t let go easily.

In an article reporting on the takedown, The Washington Post’s Silicon Valley Correspondent Elizabeth Dwoskin complained that after the coronavirus documentary Plandemic was censored on social media, some YouTube clips were telling users how to access “banned footage” from the documentary via Google Drive. She then notes that after The Washington Post contacted Google, Google Drive took down a file featuring the trailer for the Plandemic documentary.

Watch Plandemic on Bitchute, a decentralized, censorship-free platform by clicking here.

As Big Tech ramps up censorship, we need to ramp up our exit and cease to use their products. We said last month that the mainstream media was going to continue a smear campaign against anyone who stands up to the elitists and this tyrannical takeover and economic terrorism while using a virus as an excuse.

The mainstream media is going to continue its smear campaign against anyone who dares to believe they have the right to live freely so long as they aren’t harming others and take life’s risk upon themselves. But as fewer people tune in to listen to their propaganda, fewer people will be brainwashed by it. –SHTFplan

And that’s exactly what the Washington Post did. Dwoskin frames users sharing files containing the Plandemic trailer with each other as:

“A wave of seemingly countless workarounds employed by people motivated to spread misinformation about the virus — efforts that continue to thwart social media companies’ attempts at preventing hoaxes and conspiracy theories from spreading amid the greatest public health crisis in decades.”

There is good news though. We now know that the mainstream media is struggling to maintain their grip on the official narrative, and for all intents and purposes, they’ve already failed. Too many have awoken to the lies and propaganda designed to keep a ruling class in place, and the rest of us subjugated. But that’s all ending and they will not go down without a fight. Expect more censorship as they desperately try to cling to their mind control and social engineering schemes in the coming months.

As Robert Kiyosaki said recently: “Pray for the best but prepare for the worst!”

“A Somali-born naturalized United States citizen was indicted this week for allegedly attempting to join Islamic terrorist group al-Shabab.

Liban Haji Mohamed, a 34-year-old Somali native who has been previously identified as a refugee to the U.S., was indicted on charges he allegedly conspired and attempted to provide material support to al-Shabab.

Mohamed was placed on the FBI’s “Most Wanted List” back in January 2015 after the alleged terrorist had a “red notice” issued for him by Interpol.

Mohamed, according to a criminal complaint, allegedly left the U.S. in July 2012 by crossing the southern border into Mexico with the intent to join al-Shabab in Somalia. Mohamed, prosecutors allege, wanted to fight for al-Shabab and help recruit Westerners.

In one case, Mohamed attempted to recruit an undercover federal agent to join al-Shabab in Somalia. Mohamed, prosecutors say, was a close associate of terrorist Zachary Chesser who was convicted for trying to provide material support to al-Shabab.

As previously reported, sources have said that Mohamed first arrived in the U.S. as a refugee and was then allowed to adjust his status to become a lawful permanent resident. After adjusting his immigration status, the federal government allowed Mohamed to become a naturalized U.S. citizen.

Mohamed previously drove cabs in Washington, D.C. area and lived in the suburbs of Fairfax County, Virginia.

If convicted of the terrorism charges, Mohamed faces a maximum of 30 years in prison. Mohamed remains in Somalia.”

    • npr – France Bars Use Of Hydroxychloroquine In COVID-19 Cases

The French government is revoking a decree that had allowed hospitals to prescribe hydroxychloroquine in some COVID-19 cases, saying there is no proof that it helps patients — and citing data that shows it could cause heart problems and other health risks.

“This molecule must not be prescribed for patients affected by COVID-19,” the Ministry of Solidarity and Health said as it announced the change.

The move to bar hospitals from prescribing the drug for coronavirus patients comes two days after the World Health Organization halted clinical trials of hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID-19.

The WHO cited a study published in The Lancet, that had found no benefit from the drug and reported a higher mortality rate for hospitalized patients and “an increased frequency of ventricular arrhythmias.”[…]

CBC -reuters – France, Italy, Belgium act to stop use of hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19 over safety fears

France, Italy and Belgium acted to halt the use of hydroxychloroquine to treat patients suffering from COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus, amid questions about the safety of the generic anti-malaria drug.

France on Wednesday cancelled a decree allowing hospital doctors to dispense the medicine, while the Italian Medicine Agency (AIFA) suspended authorization to use hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19 outside clinical trials.

Belgium’s medicine agency warned against using the drug to treat the virus, except within ongoing clinical registered trials. It said trials aiming to evaluate the drug should also take potential risks into consideration.

The sudden changes highlight the challenge for governments as they scramble to find ways to treat patients and control a virus that has spread rapidly around the world over the past few months, killing more than 350,000 people and infecting millions.

It also illustrates at least a temporary about-face for regulators on a drug that at the outset of the pandemic had been seen as a promising treatment option.

The moves by three of the countries hardest hit by coronavirus infections and deaths follow a World Health Organization decision on Monday to pause a large trial of hydroxychloroquine due to safety concerns.

The assumption that these help in the treatment of Covid-19 has not been confirmed.

Ministry of Health sends Bayer chloroquine tablets back
The Federal Ministry of Health has returned donated tablets of the drug chloroquine to the pharmaceutical company Bayer. As the magazine “Business Insider” reports, the ministry informed on request that “based on current knowledge” some of the medicines made available had been returned to the manufacturers. These would then be available for the treatment of diagnoses other than Covid-19. A ministry spokesman confirmed the move on Wednesday.

The pharmaceutical company Bayer made eight million tablets of the drug available to the federal government in mid-April. There were indications that it might be suitable for treatment in Covid 19 patients, Bayer said at the time.

In the journal “The Lancet”, however, researchers had recently reported on the basis of a comprehensive data analysis that the malaria drugs hydroxychloroquine and the very similar chloroquine are probably not suitable for the treatment of Covid-19 and the active ingredients may even increase the death rate.

The WHO Foundation is being created as an independent grant-making entity that will support the organization’s efforts to address the most pressing global health challenges by raising new funding from “non-traditional sources”.

The announcement comes after the U.S. has suspended funding for the organization with threats from President Trump to halt all funding to the WHO amid its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prof. Thoms Zentler, founder of the WHO Foundation, signed with the director-general a memorandum of understanding between the organization and the foundation during Wednesday’s briefing.

He said the foundation will enhance and compliment, not supplement, the global health ecosystem by providing flexibility in receiving contributions and grants.

The foundation will be an independent legal entity formed under the law of Switzerland.

Zentler also said that WHO will maintain close links with the foundation and the director-general will designate a representative to attend the foundation meetings as an observer.

  22. Denmark residents sue over laws for dismantling ‘ghettos’ (abcnews, May 27, 2020)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/denmark-residents-sue-laws-dismantling-ghettos-70903586

“A group of Copenhagen residents sued the Danish government Wednesday over legislation that authorized dismantling neighborhoods designated as “ghettos,” arguing that the measures discriminate on the basis of ethnicity and should be overturned in court.

The legislation, adopted in 2018 for the stated purpose of reducing residential segregation, permitted actions such as the eviction of some residents and the sale of homes to private investors to reduce the amount of affordable public housing in these areas to a maximum of 40% by 2030.

The lawsuit centers on the criteria the government uses to decide what qualifies as a ghetto. The factors include education and income levels, crime rates and a demographic makeup in which “the proportion of immigrants and their descendants from non-Western countries exceeds 50%.”

Under the government’s definition, a poor neighborhood with high crime and low education would not be considered a ghetto if people born in Denmark and their descendants comprise more than half of the population.

“The decisive criteria is the ethnicity of the tenants and residents,” said Eddie Khawaja, the attorney for the plaintiffs from Copenhagen’s Mjoelnerparken neighborhood, one of the areas declared as a ghetto. “This raises issues under Danish and EU law.”

The Danish Ministry of Transport and Housing acknowledged a request for comment from The Associated Press but did not provide a response to the lawsuit or the lawyer’s assertion.

The residents named in the lawsuit are all Danish citizens and include people of various ethnicities and races, including white. They say the measures are alienating and risk creating a lesser class of Danes based on ethnicity and skin color.

“This is where my three kids have grown up and this is where I want to grow old,” said Asif Mahmut, who moved to Denmark from Pakistan and has lived in Mjoelnerparken for 27 years. “This is my home, and I want to fight for it.”

Along with evictions and the sale of public housing, the 2018 legislation allowed double punishments for crimes in certain neighborhoods, made daycare for children mandatory starting at age 1 to teach them Danish values and a requirement for municipalities to inform eligible residents about repatriation opportunities.”

“Turkey’s defense ministry has announced the death of a Turkish soldier in Idlib, the last rebel-held territory in northwest Syria.

In a statement Wednesday, the ministry said the soldier was wounded in an explosion and died later in a hospital. It said the explosion took place in an area about 250 meters (820 feet) south of a road patrolled by Turkish forces. The cause of the explosion was not immediately clear.

At least 66 Turkish soldiers have been killed in Idlib this year.

Turkey and Russia brokered a cease-fire in March to halt a three-month Syrian government offensive aimed at capturing the province. https://www.thedefensepost.com/2020/05/27/militia-fighters-car/

“Nine fighters from an armed group that launched a week-long attack last week in south-eastern Central African Republic have been arrested.

The assailants belong to a branch of the CAR’s biggest armed group, the Unity for Peace in Central Africa (UPC), the country’s special criminal court said in a statement on Monday.

The court is responsible for trying cases of serious human rights violations in the country, which has been ravaged by conflict for more than 20 years. The UPC has committed “widespread and systematic attacks on the civilian population,” the court said.

During the attacks on the town of Obo last week, government forces backed by U.N. troops killed around 10 fighters from the rebel militia and captured others, a government spokesman had told AFP.

Led by a mercenary named Ali Darassa, the UPC has been campaigning for months to extend its grip in the southeast, at the crossroads of the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan.

The UPC is one of myriad armed groups that have controlled most of the CAR since the country plunged into violence in 2013.

A few months away from high-risk presidential elections due in December, the CAR continues to be plagued by militia attacks despite a peace agreement signed between the government and 14 armed groups, including the UPC, in February 2019.

In late April, 28 people — including at least 21 civilians — were killed in Ndele in the north-east in clashes between two factions from the same armed group.

Following the killings, the country’s special criminal court announced that it had opened an investigation into war crimes and crimes against humanity. Created in 2015 and inaugurated in 2018, the court is responsible for judging serious violations of human rights and international humanitarian law committed in the Central African Republic since 2003.

It is composed of national and international judges and supported by the European Union and the United Nations.”

  26. ADF Militia Kills Dozens in Eastern DR Congo
    https://www.thedefensepost.com/2020/05/27/adf-militia-congo/

“Dozens of civilians have been killed in eastern DR Congo in the latest of a string of massacres by the notorious ADF militia, a UN source and a local NGO told AFP on Wednesday.

The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) have killed hundreds in the region since late 2019, in apparent retaliation for a military offensive against their bases.

The UN source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said at least 22 people were killed in two attacks on Monday and Tuesday in the south of Ituri province, near the border with North Kivu province. At least 16 others were killed last Friday and on Sunday, the source said.

A local NGO called Cepadho said in a statement that “at least 40 civilians (were) massacred” on Monday and Tuesday in the territory of Irumu in southern Ituri.

A separate source, a monitoring group called the Kivu Security Tracker (KST), said the bodies of 17 civilians had been found in Makutano, in Irumu, on Monday and Tuesday. KST said the number of massacres in eastern DRC was “increasing sharply.”

The group said that since May 7 it had recorded the deaths of 50 civilians, attributed to the ADF, in the North Kivu area of Beni alone. Deaths attributed to the ADF in April totaled 30, the KST said.

    Ruthless Group
The ADF is a mainly Muslim movement that originated in neighboring Uganda in the 1990s, opposed to the rule of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.

In 1995 it moved into the DRC, which became its base of operations, although it has not carried out attacks inside Uganda for years. A report to the UN Security Council in January said that the ADF has the characteristics of both an armed group and a criminal organization, while its members appeared to uphold a radical Islamist ideology.

Information is insufficient to prove that the ADF has any ties with international Islamic extremist movements, the report said.

DR Congo’s armed forces launched an offensive against the ADF in October 2019. Since then, they have reported a series of what they describe as successful operations, including the destruction of “all the ADF strongholds” in the forest and jungle around Beni, and having killed five out of six known rebel leaders…”

  27. Five Jihadists, Two Soldiers Killed in Cameroon Clash
    https://www.thedefensepost.com/2020/05/27/cameroon-clash/

“Two soldiers were killed early on Tuesday when jihadists attacked a military position in northern Cameroon after crossing from Nigeria, sources said, while seven other soldiers were injured in a mine blast in the same village.

The device exploded when the soldiers’ vehicle was passing, according to an army colonel.

Both the explosion and the overnight attack took place at Soueram, close to the Nigerian border in Cameroon’s Far North region, the colonel and a local official told AFP. “Two Cameroonian soldiers were killed” in the overnight assault, while five jihadists died in the counter-attack, the colonel said.

The attack was claimed by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), according to the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors jihadist activity. ISWAP is a splinter group of Nigeria’s Boko Haram, which has led a bloody 11-year campaign against perceived Western influence.

An army vehicle was destroyed and the jihadists made off with a piece of heavy weaponry, he said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

A local leader, who also asked not to be identified, confirmed the attack and the toll, adding that there were no civilian casualties.

The Far North is an impoverished tongue of land that lies between Chad to the east and Nigeria to the west and has been regularly hit by jihadists making incursions from northeast Nigeria since 2014.

The Boko Haram campaign has killed more than 27,000 people since 2009, several thousand of them in Cameroon, and displaced more than two million, sparking a humanitarian crisis in the Lake Chad region.

According to Amnesty International, at least 275 people were killed in the Far North last year.

Boko Haram split into two factions in 2016 — one led by Abubakar Shekau and a splinter faction, ISWAP, which has claimed loyalty to the so-called Islamic State group.”

“The Saudi-led Arab coalition intercepted and downed on Wednesday drones fired by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen towards Saudi Arabia.

Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Malki said the drones were fired at civilian targets in Najran city.

He slammed the Houthis for their ongoing violation of international humanitarian law by launching such drones at civilian installations and residential areas.

Wednesday’s incident demonstrates the militias’ rejection of the coalition’s ceasefire initiative and de-escalation efforts that were declared on April 9, he added, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The Houthis had never even responded to the ceasefire, committing more than 4,455 violations throughout this time, using all forms of light and heavy weapons and ballistic missiles, Malki remarked.

The coalition will continue to take deterrent measures against the Houthis to neutralize and destroy their capabilities in line with international humanitarian law, he vowed.”

  29. Iraq Military Spokesman to Asharq Al-Awsat: ISIS No Longer Poses a Threat
    https://english.aawsat.com/home/article/2304266/iraq-military-spokesman-asharq-al-awsat-isis-no-longer-poses-threat

“Since the start of 2020, ISIS has been mounting activities that suggest the group has reorganized its ranks after the defeats it sustained in the past few years on both sides of the Syrian-Iraqi borders.

The Iraqi army, however, is showing no signs of concern over the growing activities of the terrorist group.

Military spokesman Yehya Rasool said ISIS no longer poses a threat to Iraq and that its cells are nearly completely destroyed and unable to threaten Iraqi towns and civilians.

The lack of public display of concern does not mean that Iraqi authorities aren’t taking the threats posed by ISIS seriously. In the last few weeks, dozens of security campaigns were carried out against ISIS hideouts across the country.

Rasool, in an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, clarified that these raids are preemptive and are based on intelligence reports.

This indicates that Iraqi security apparatuses own a substantial corpus of intelligence on ISIS cells, extracted from interrogating hundreds of the group’s operatives and leaders who were arrested during the course of the past years.

Other than Iraqi raids, the Arab- Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces have been mounting anti-ISIS campaigns with the aid of the US-led international coalition in Syria.

“Iraqi security forces, after defeating ISIS, intensified their intelligence effort and began preemptive operations and arrested many terrorist leaders and elements, as well as those who finance these terrorist gangs, especially in areas that were under the control of ISIS,” Rasool told Asharq Al-Awsat.

He added that one of the “most prominent terrorists arrested” is the “mufti of ISIS,” who was detained on January 16.

“Mufti of ISIS,” Shifa al-Nima, loomed large over ISIS as a religious figure who issued fatwas against several clerics who refused to swear allegiance to the group.

Al-Nima, whose actual name is Abu Abdul Bari, encouraged ISIS members to attack security forces and destroy historic sites during their reign over large swathes of Iraq and Syria.”

    https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/rights-groups-call-usaid-fire-new-religious-advisor-over-anti-muslim-views

“Two leading Muslim rights group have called for the dismissal of USAID’s new “religious freedom adviser,” who reportedly has a history of making and promoting anti-Muslim comments on social media.

Muslim Advocates and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) called for Mark Kevin Lloyd’s dismissal on Wednesday following a string of now-deleted comments on Facebook and Twitter, which were posted when he served as the Trump campaign’s Virginia field director.

In two different tweets made weeks apart in 2016, Lloyd called Islam “a barbaric cult”, and said that the religion was “violent in its doctrine and practice”.

He also shared a meme on Facebook suggesting that people should be forced to eat bacon before being allowed to buy guns, and said “those who understand Islam for what it is are gearing up for the fight.”

Lloyd started his new position at USAID on Tuesday. The $31bn agency is charged with providing economic, security and health assistance to some of the world’s poorest countries.

Madihha Ahussain, the special counsel for anti-Muslim bigotry at Muslim Advocates, said it was a cruel joke for USAID, an agency tasked with overseeing foreign aid and development efforts, to appoint an anti-Muslim bigot as a religious freedom adviser.”

“Mark Kevin Lloyd should be removed from his post immediately. Someone who has broadcast this kind of hateful and dangerous rhetoric should have no place in our government and certainly should not be advising a federal agency on religious freedom,” Ahussain said.

USAID officials told the Washington Post that Lloyd was chosen for the position by John Barsa, who the White House – without consulting the State Department – controversially named acting administrator of the aid agency last month.

On Wednesday, Robert McCaw, CAIR’s government affairs director, called on Barsa to “immediately fire” Lloyd “because of his publicly-professed anti-Muslim views”.

“There is no room in any government position – let alone a position meant to protect religious freedoms – for those who promote bigotry. Lloyd is clearly unfit to serve a diverse, multi-faith society,” McCaw said.

USAID did not respond to Middle East Eye’s request for comment, but the Post reported that a spokesperson from the agency defended one of his social media posts in question.

“The comments he made four years ago were in reference to radical Islam, not Islam,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson declined to comment on any of his other anti-Muslim statements.

McCaw called Lloyd’s presence in USAID a “blatant attempt to politicise the agency’s efforts that raises concerns about its management.”

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot Engel also condemned Lloyd’s hiring, telling the Post that it was “outrageous”.

“No one with a history of spewing hatred and bigotry has any place helping to lead one of our government agencies,” Engel said.

“It’s especially outrageous that someone with a track record of Islamophobia would be put in a role dealing with religious freedom.””

  32. UK to charge ex-Daesh fighters for ‘conflict selfies’ with dead bodies
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20200527-uk-to-charge-ex-daesh-fighters-for-conflict-selfies-with-dead-bodies/

“Ex-Daesh fighters could face prosecution for gruesome “conflict selfies” with severed heads and dead bodies, the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has said.

Daesh terrorists have been known to photograph themselves with mutilated dead bodies to post on social media channels, with authorities seeking to charge them for that on top of other terror offences.

Recently arrested Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, notoriously known as Daesh executioner “Jihadi John”, was a particular fan of the gory tradition, and infamously posted a photo of himself posing with a beheaded victim of Daesh.

The now 29-year-old walked out of his parents’ million-pound Maida Vale home to join the militant group in 2013, leaving behind his budding career as an aspiring rapper.

The CPS has admitted it has not yet managed to prosecute any of the 400 returned Daesh fighters for war crimes or terrorism “solely on the basis of an image” yet.

European Union prosecutors are also looking into how to deal with ex-Jihadist foreign fighters, including charging them with genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Daesh militants have been reported to be partake in particularly grisly sports with the recently executed, including “playing football” with a severed head during a particularly brutal raid in Syria’s Yarmouk.

Sixteen-year-old Amjad told the Daily Mail: “I saw two members of Daesh playing with a severed head as if it was a football. Wearing a baseball cap sideways, rapper-style, the youth has a swollen eye and chin.”

“Daesh came to my home looking for my brother who’s in the Palestinian Popular Committees. They beat me until I passed out and left me for dead.”

The same assault saw children being murdered in front of their parents and beating people unconscious.

Over 400 Daesh fighters have returned to the UK from conflict zones such as Syria and Iraq.”

“The United States said Wednesday it was ending waivers in its sanctions for nations that remain in the Iran nuclear accord, bringing the deal further to the brink of collapse.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said he was responding to Iran’s “brinkmanship” of nuclear steps, which have been aimed at pressuring the United States to remove sanctions as called for by the 2015 accord.

“These escalatory actions are unacceptable and I cannot justify renewing the waiver,” Pompeo said in a statement…”

  34. Moroccan Police in Dakhla Arrest 25 Sub-Saharans for Irregular Migration
    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2020/05/303925/moroccan-police-in-dakhla-arrest-25-sub-saharans-for-irregular-migration/

“Moroccan police in the city of Dakhla, southern Morocco arrested 25 Sub-Saharan migrants on May 25 as they took part in an irregular migration operation.

The police arrested the migrants on a beach near the city, where they were attempting to leave Moroccan soil for Europe by boat.

During the operation, police seized two boat engines and 540 liters of fuel, a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has said.

Police placed the migrants in custody for investigation to determine the circumstances of the case and to arrest possible accomplices involved in criminal human trafficking network.

The operation is part of Morocco’s efforts to fight undocumented and human trafficking networks, the statement said.

The operation followed a similar raid on an irregular migration attempt on May 17.

During the operation, security services arrested six suspects involved in organizing irregular migration.

The list of the suspects includes a Spanish citizen of Moroccan origin and five Algerians.

The suspects will also face charges for violating the country’s state of emergency measures, a statement from DGSN said.

Morocco, an active participant in anti-irregular migration campaigns, managed to foil more than 74,000 irregular migration attempts last year.

The country’s efforts to battle human trafficking received applause from international bodies, including the European Union.

In February, the European Parliament (EP) emphasized the need to acknowledge Morocco’s efforts to curb irregular migration.

During a debate of the EP’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, Deputy Chairman of the parliamentary committee Emil Radev said that the EU should “recognize the major efforts made by Morocco in managing migration flows.””

  35. Islamophobia in India: Pakistan rejects misleading media reports on OIC meeting
    https://tribune.com.pk/story/2229759/1-islamophobia-india-pakistan-rejects-misleading-media-reports-oic-meeting/

“Pakistan has categorically rejected misleading and factually incorrect media reports about the virtual meeting of OIC ambassadors to the United Nations on May 20, in which Pakistan was accused of doing propaganda over increasing Islamophobia under the Modi government.

The distorted reporting first appeared in a section of Indian media, claiming Maldives had “called out Pakistan’s propaganda against India at the meeting”.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Foreign Office spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN highlighted the rising wave of Islamophobia and state-sponsored violence against Indian Muslims that has entered into a dangerous phase under the RSS-BJP dispensation during the OIC meeting.

“Highlighting the scourge of Islamophobia in India, he updated the OIC group on recent episodes of Islamophobia and targeted violence against Indian Muslims and Kashmiris.

Sharing the growing concern over serious implications of Islamophobia in India, a large number of OIC Ambassadors supported the need for a coordinated OIC position on Islamophobia at the UN,” she added.

Representing the collective voice of the Muslim Ummah, the OIC has repeatedly expressed serious concern on Islamophobia and targeted violence against Muslims in India, as manifested in various decisions and Resolutions of Islamic Summits and Council of Foreign Ministers (CFMs), she said.

The OIC and its human rights body — OIC-IPHRC — have issued strong statements on the Indian government’s recent anti-Muslim actions, including CAA, targeted killing of Muslims in Delhi, Babri Masjid verdict, and demonisation of Muslims in the context of Covid-19.

Besides OIC, the United Nations human rights machinery, the international human rights organisations, and the international media have taken cognisance of the situation and expressed concerns in this regard, the FO spokesperson maintained.”

    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/middle-east/us-deploys-low-altitude-air-defense-system-in-syria/1855562

“US forces have deployed a low-altitude air defense missile system near a natural gas field in eastern Syria, local sources told Anadolu Agency on Wednesday.

The system was installed near the Koniko gas field occupied by the YPG/PKK terrorist organization in Syria’s oil-rich Deir ez-Zor province.

US forces are planning to deploy a similar system near the al-Omar oil field in Deir ez-Zor in the coming days, the sources added.

Col. Myles B. Caggins, spokesman for the coalition against Daesh, denied claims that the US has air defense systems in Syria.

“More fake news in Syria. No Patriots in Syria,” Caggins said on Twitter on Wednesday.

Last month, the US dispatched hundreds of weapons, ammunition and logistics supplies to oil and gas fields that are under YPG/PKK occupation.

The US has strengthened its presence in the oil fields in Hasakah, Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor provinces.”

  37. Turkey ‘neutralizes’ 10 PKK terrorists in northern Iraq
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/turkey/turkey-neutralizes-10-pkk-terrorists-in-northern-iraq/1854553

“Turkish forces “neutralized” 10 PKK terrorists in northern Iraq, Turkey’s National Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

Five terrorists were “neutralized” in Haftanin and Hakurk regions after they were detected through reconnaissance and surveillance activities, the ministry said in a tweet.

In another operation, conducted by the Turkish Armed Forces in coordination with the Turkish National Intelligence Organization, five more terrorists were “neutralized” in Asos region.

The ministry said they were also located through reconnaissance and surveillance missions.

The country’s counter-terror operations will continue without letup, the ministry said.

Turkish authorities use the term “neutralized” to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.

PKK terrorists often take shelter in northern Iraq to plan cross-border terrorist attacks in Turkey.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU — has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.”

  38. Norway TV flooded with complaints after Eid broadcast
    https://www.thelocal.no/20200527/norway-tv-flooded-with-complaints-after-eid-broadcast

“Norway’s broadcasting ombudsman has received close to a hundred complaints this week after state broadcaster NRK gave the Muslim Eid celebrations the sort of coverage normally given to Christmas.

According to Erik Skarrud, the ombudsman’s secretary, the organisation received 93 reports after the broadcast of “The Celebration after the Fast” on Sunday night, of which only a handful were positive.

“Someone called it ‘propaganda for Islam’ and a large number of them used the same sort of expression. There’s probably a text somewhere that people are cutting and pasting from,” he told Kampanje magazine.

Others complained they “did not want to pay for something that could lead to terror”.

Over 300,000 people tuned in to watch the broadcast, which was helmed by the popular journalist Rima Iraki, the former presenter of NRK’s Dagsrevyen news programme.

Eirik Sandberg Ingstad, who led the project, said he felt the experiment, the first such broadcast by a major Western TV channel, had been a huge success.

“We are pretty pleased with it. The response from the audience during and after the broadcast has been overwhelmingly positive, which indicates that we succeeded in creating a party where everyone felt welcome,” he told Kampanje.

The controversy prompted Norway’s culture minister Abid Raja to write an opinion article, “When can I say ‘my Norway’?, on NRK complaining of people’s unwillingness to accept Muslim citizens as truly Norwegian.

He said that he himself had fasted on-and-off for Eid all his life, despite “not being the best Muslim in class”, and had found it emotional to see it celebrated by the nation.

“It was a historic event when our public broadcaster, as the first in a western country, dedicated an evening to the celebration of the end of the fast,” he said.

But that feeling had changed to “discomfort” as he learned of the complaints, he said, reminding him of the kind of abuse he received growing up in Norway, and still today as a minister: “You are not a Norwegian. This is not your Norway. Go back where you came from you Muslim bastard, you Paki.”

He said he had always tried not to provoke those who felt only ethnically Norwegian should use the term.

“For many years I lived with a kind of compromise. Instead of calling myself a ‘Norwegian’, I chose to use the terms ‘new Norwegian’ or ‘brown Norwegian’, in an attempt not to provoke people who are put out by me saying ‘I am Norwegian’,” he wrote.

But he said he wanted to change that.

“I was born in Norway, in Oslo, and with the exception of one academic year in Oxford and one working year at the Norwegian Embassy in India, I have lived all my life in Norway,” he said.

“My wife, Nadia, has too. My children are Norwegian. And I want to be buried in Norway when that day comes. From cradle to grave, I am Norwegian.””
