3. Two illegal migrants detained near Czech town after hiding under truck

Two migrants who illegally entered into the Czech Republic hidden under the chassis of a truck have been detained by police in South Moravia border in the southeast of the country.

 

They were spotted by a police patrol in a parking lot near the motorway as they were approaching a food stand.

“On Wednesday evening, a patrol of two foreign police officers were on their way to the Lanžhot border crossing. In the parking lot between the trucks, they noticed two suspicious men heading to a food stand. They then determine that the two men did not have any documents,” said police spokesman Pavel Šváb.

 

According to sources, the migrants, who were headed to France, hid under the truck’s chassis in Romania.

GENEVA – WHO Says It’s Missing $900 Million to Fund Coronavirus Response

The World Health Organization (WHO) said it is missing 900 million US dollars to fund its response to the coronavirus during an executive board meeting on Friday.

In its first virtual meeting for the board, Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the WHO had worked “day and night” to coordinate a global response to the pandemic.

Tedros said the WHO published its first comprehensive package of guidance for COVID-19 on January 10, and said they have since issued “almost 100 technical documents”.

He said the organisation has worked with multiple tech platforms to “fight the infodemic”.

Since February, he said WHO has convened more than 400 researchers worldwide to “identify research priorities”, and that they are tracking more than 700 clinical trials globally.

On Monday, US President Donald Trump sent a letter to Tedros threatening to end funding for the agency unless it committed to “substantive improvements” in the next 30 days.

Trump has already ordered a pause in US funding for the WHO, which totalled nearly 900 million US dollars in 2018-19, according to information on the agency’s website.

DETROIT (FOX 2) – The video of a 20-year-old brutally beating an elderly patient at a Detroit nursing home has gotten national attention – and even the President has weighed in. Now police are investigating a possible second incident caught on camera while the young man’s father says there’s more to the story.

 

The 20-year-old, who FOX 2 is not identifying as he has not yet been charged with a crime, was on video beating an elderly patient at Westwood Nursing Center earlier this week. The violent video is incredibly difficult to watch for most – including the father of the younger man, who says he’s praying for the elderly victim.

(You can go read the article if you like. It feels like all rationalizing. From what else is out there, this guy has a philosophy of hatred of white people and acts on it. But we are going to get force fed the mental health issues we always do if its not a white person doing these things, in which case its terrorism.)

9. Suspect shot at NAS-CC incident has been identified

The man killed in this morning’s shooting at Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi has been identified.

NBC News reports that the suspect’s name is Adam Salim Alsahli.

 

FBI Supervisory Senior Resident Agent Leah Greeves said the incident was “terrorism-related” and the alleged shooter is dead.

Greeves added that authorities believe a second potential suspect remains.

 

“We may have a potential second related person of interest at large in the community,” she said.

In a tweet thread Thursday evening, the FBI said it is “not ruling out any possible motives,” and is looking into all leads.

Lancaster, California will be home to a “greener than green” trash-to hydrogen production plant three times the size of any other green H2 facility. SGH2 says its process is the cleanest of all on the market, while matching the price of the cheapest producers – and pulling tens of thousands of tons of garbage out of landfills.

 

For better or worse, many world economies are gearing up to make hydrogen a significant part of the future energy economy. Japan and Korea in particular are making big moves and enormous investments to get this zero-local-emissions energy storage format up and running.

Anyone who has spent more than 24 hours in a tropical jungle, and more than 24 hours in a desert somewhere, may want to remember what it was like at night in those terrains. In the desert, which has nearly no water vapour in the air, its extremely cold at night or at least far colder than it was in the day. In the jungle however, there isn’t much difference at all.

This is because water vapour really is a greenhouse gas. Unlike CO2 which is what plants need to grow and do things like, oh produce food, water vapour can really change an environment and fast. So just by applying the law of irony, what we are likely to see here is the use of energy from hydrogen, which usually means burning it where the waste product is water vapour, creating actual greenhouse effects in cities where it will be used at scale. CO2 of course, has done exactly nothing that was predicted of it. Nothing. No warming, no flooding, nothing. But the solution to CO2? Hydrogen energy?

Well it would be like if we locked down the entire world’s economy, took away everyone’s rights and destroyed the entire supply chain as a reaction to some flu variant.

The cure won’t so much be worse than the disease. The cure will be what they said the disease was, but it wasn’t.)
