This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

    “A bombshell report claims Chinese President Xi Jinping personally asked World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom to ‘delay a global warning’ about the threat of COVID-19 during a conversation back in January.

    Germany’s Der Spiegel published the allegations this weekend, citing intelligence from the country’s Federal Intelligence Service, known as the ‘Bundesnachrichtendienst’ (BND).

    According to the BND: ‘On January 21, China’s leader Xi Jinping asked WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to hold back information about a human-to-human transmission and to delay a pandemic warning.

    ‘The BND estimates that China’s information policy lost four to six weeks to fight the virus worldwide’.

    The WHO released a statement shortly after the publication of the shock claims, calling them ‘unfounded and untrue’.

    ‘Dr Tedros and President Xi did not speak on January 21 and they have never spoken by phone. Such inaccurate reports distract and detract from WHO’s and the world’s efforts to end the COVID-19 pandemic,’ the statement read.

    It continued: ‘China confirmed human-to-human transmission of the novel coronavirus on January 20 [prior to the alleged phone conversation].

    ‘The WHO publicly declared on January 22 that “data collected … suggests that human-to-human transmission is taking place in Wuhan.”‘

    If the claims were true, they would bolster President Trump’s assertion that the WHO is ‘China-centric’.

    Back in April, the Trump Administration alleged the WHO was becoming a tool of ‘Chinese propaganda’, and the president moved to halt funding of the organization.

    Last week, the President launched a fresh attack on the organization during a Fox News virtual town hall meeting.

    ‘The World Health organisation has been a disaster everything they said was wrong and they’re China-centric,’ he stated at the event, held last Monday.

    ‘All they do is agree with China, whatever China wants to do. So our country, perhaps foolishly in retrospect has been paying $450million a year to the World Health Organisation and China’s been paying $38million a year but they were more political than all of our leaders previously.

    ‘What they did, what World Health did, was they missed every single call and we’re not going to put up with it.’

    Relations between Washington and the WHO has soured throughout the crisis after Trump consistently accused the body of siding with China, saying it has been hand-in-glove with Xi Jinping in covering up the outbreak.

    Director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has hailed China as an exemplar of how to handle an emergency despite widespread skepticism of the country’s official coronavirus death toll.

    Earlier this week, Trump also said there was enough evidence to prove President Xi Jinping’s regime misled the global community.

    ‘Well, I don’t think there’s any question about it. We wanted to go in, they didn’t want us to go in. Things are coming out that are pretty compelling. I don’t think there’s any question,’ the president said Sunday.

    ‘Personally, I think they made a horrible mistake, and they didn’t want to admit it,’ he added.

    His comments came as a Department of Homeland Security report shared on Sunday revealed US officials believe China ‘intentionally concealed the severity’ of the pandemic in early January and hoarded medical supplies.

    The four-page report dated May 1 that was obtained by the Associated Press notes that China downplayed the virus publicly but increased imports and decreased exports of medical supplies.

    The document accuses China of covering their tracks by ‘denying there were export restrictions and obfuscating and delaying provision of its trade data.’

    It lends weight to a leaked dossier drawn up by the Five Eyes intelligence alliance which describes how Beijing made whistleblowers ‘disappear’, destroyed early virus samples and scrubbed the internet of any mention of the disease in the early stages.

    The 15-page document brands Beijing’s secrecy over the pandemic an ‘assault on international transparency’ and points to cover-up tactics deployed by the regime.

    It claims that the Chinese government silenced its most vocal critics and scrubbed any online scepticism about its handling of the health emergency from the internet.

    China has roundly come under fire for suppressing the scale of its early outbreak which did not afford other nations time to react before the disease hit their shores.

    Five Eyes – the pooling of intelligence by the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand – laid bare its scathing assessment of the Xi Jinping administration in a memo obtained by the Australian Saturday Telegraph.

    It describes how Beijing was outwardly downplaying the outbreak on the world stage while secretly scrambling to bury all traces of the disease.

    More than four million people around the world have contracted the highly contagious virus, and at least 279,000 have died.

    There are currently at least 1.3 million cases of coronavirus in the U.S. and more than 79,000 deaths.

    Last month, British MPs warned China had cost lives by spreading disinformation about the coronavirus outbreak.

    The Commons Foreign Affairs Committee said that as the country where the outbreak originated, China should have played a central role in collecting data on its spread.

    But it accused Beijing of seeking to ‘obfuscate’ over what was really happening form the outset.

    The committee called on the UK Government, working with international allies, to actively ‘confront and rebut’ disinformation coming from foreign powers…..”

    “A local goverment in England has withdrawn a “Trans Inclusions Toolkit” allowing transgender youths into single-sex toilets, changing rooms, and dormitories, following a case brought to the High Court by a thirteen-year-old girl who argued that the policy infringed upon her privacy rights.

    Oxfordshire County Council had initially vowed to fight the case in court, saying that it “utterly refuted” objections from parents that the policy endangered their children. However, after a judge ruled that the case was “sufficiently arguable”, the council decided to remove the policy and will now wait upon national guidelines to be published by Boris Johnson’s government.

    The 50-page guidance paper, which applied to 493 schools in the county, said that youths who claim to be transgender should be able to use the bathroom of that aligns with their preferred gender, as well as allowing what gender gym classes they prefer and what gender dormitories to sleep in on school trips.

    The teenage girl who brought the case against the council argued that the council’s trans policy provided “no right to privacy from the opposite sex”, and that she “worried about girls in other schools around the country who have these guidelines”.

    “[The document] plainly misrepresented the law by assuming that an array of gender identities had protection under the Equality Act. They do not,” said the girl’s lawyer, Paul Conrathe, in comments reported by The Times.

    “The toolkit advised that biological boys could access girls’ toilets, changing rooms, and dormitories on residential trips. Rather than protect and promote the welfare of children, it exposed girls, in particular, to a greater risk of harm. The High Court has already considered the toolkit and ruled that it is arguable that it is unlawful. Oxfordshire safeguarding board have done the right thing in withdrawing it. It was plainly legally indefensible,” Conrathe added.

    The girl who brought the case to the high court said that she was “very surprised that the council never asked the opinion of girls in Oxfordshire about what we thought before they published the toolkit.”

    “Although they have withdrawn it now, they haven’t apologised to me or said they were wrong. I would like to know what the [Oxforshire County Council] are going to do to make schools a safe place for girls going forward,” she added.

    Victoria Edwards, a local lesbian mother, had launched a crowdfunding campaign to help the girl pay for the legal challenge against the county’s trans toolkit, raising over £22,000 for the case.

    “I’m pleased that the [Oxforshire County Council] have withdrawn the toolkit. I’m disappointed, however, that it has taken a 13-year-old girl, a crowdfunding campaign and a High Court judge granting a judicial review to uphold the privacy, dignity, and safety of Oxfordshire’s schoolchildren,” Edwards said.

    Across the country, at least a dozen counties have introduced similar transgender policies, although last year local government in Warwickshire rescinded a similar guidance paper after objections from parents.”

    “A cargo ship unloaded 79 migrants to the island of Sicily as Italy sees a rise in illegal immigration and the European Union border agency Frontex warns of a surge of migrants heading toward Greece.

    The cargo vessel Marina dropped off another 79 migrants at the town of Porto Empedocle on Friday after they were picked up in the search area off the coast of Malta on May 3rd.

    The landing of the migrants came despite orders from the town’s mayor Ida Carmina given on April 10th that the town’s ports would be closed to migrant transport vessels, newspaper Il Giornale reports.

    “First aid will be guaranteed to migrants and then they will be taken away,” Mayor Carmina claimed.

    Lampedusa, Italy’s southernmost island in the Mediterranean, has also begun to see another surge of new migrant arrivals — despite the Chinese coronavirus outbreak and the national lockdown measures put in place to stop its spread.

    Earlier this week the island saw at least 200 migrants arrive in just two days and joined another 100 migrants who were camped on a pier for two days prior under the cover of a large tent.

    Italy has also seen a surge of migrants enter the country through its northern border with Slovenia, with local police complaining that the Slovenians have done nothing to stop the migrants from getting across the border into Italy.

    League (Lega) Matteo Salvini was planning to build a wall to put a stop to such crossings while he was in government, but the new left-liberal coalition does not support strong border controls.

    Greece, meanwhile, is also facing a surge of new arrivals, according to the European Union border agency Frontex.

    The agency stated in a confidential report, leaked by German newspaper Die Welt, that it expects a huge surge of migrants as coronavirus lockdown measures are lifted in Turkey.

    “The restrictions on Covid-19 have been gradually lifted in most Aegean provinces, but not yet in Canakkale, Istanbul, and Izmir. If freedom of movement is restored in these areas, massive movements of migrants towards the Greek-Turkish border can be expected,” the internal report said.

    The Turkish government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had previously been shipping illegal migrants to the Greek border in large numbers, and used force to support their efforts to break through its defences.

    Turkey’s Islamist regime only closed the border due to the coronavirus outbreak, but shortly after the closure Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu warned that the migrants would return when the pandemic was over.

    Coinciding with the surge in new arrivals has been a push from Germany’s foreign minister Heiko Maas to push for migrant redistribution across the EU, a policy rejected by countries like Hungary and Poland — which unlikely Germany never supported bringing hundreds of thousands of migrants to Europe — in the past.”

    “The globalist think tank run by Tony Blair has claimed that it is “embedded in governments around the world”, supposedly advising them on the Chinese coronavirus crisis, despite the former Prime Minister’s connections to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) regime.

    The Tony Blair Institue said that it has “teams” advising world governments “them to keep their people safe during this pandemic — not just in respect of Covid-19 itself but also the political and economic collateral damage.”

    The think tank has advised governments to adopt “dramatically increased technological surveillance”, arguing that it is “a price worth paying”.

    “In normal times the degree of monitoring and state intervention we are talking about here would be out of the question in liberal democracies. But these are not normal times, and the alternatives are even more unpalatable. This is quite different from the traditional debate about whether confronting security threats to our way of life merits sacrificing the values of freedom and privacy that define us,” said Chris Yiu, the institute’s executive director of technology and public policy.

    Similar big government policies, such as compulsory ID cards for all citizens — ultimately defeated — were a key feature of Blair’s years in power.

    The former premier has also argued that the UN’s World Health Organization (WHO) should be given “much greater heft and weight” and claiming that without more funding and support it would be “unfair to criticize them” — despite the fact that the WHO promoted Chinese communist propaganda from the outset of the coronavirus outbreak.

    The after-office activities of Mr Blair, particularly in the Middle East and China, have drawn widespread criticism. Following reports linking the now-defunct Tony Blair Associates firm with the Saudi oil company PetroSaudi and the Abu Dhabi financial management firm Mubadala, the Iraq War architect resigned from his already controversial post as Middle East peace envoy at the United Nations.

    Questions about Mr Blair’s close business ties with the Chinese regime and people connected the Chinese Communist Party have also been raised.

    In 2015, an investigation by The Telegraph found that after leaving office Mr Blair served as a liaison between Abu Dhabi and the “highest levels of the Communist Party and state-run corporations” in bringing investment to the Xinjiang province of the country, where it is alleged that millions of Uyghurs are being interned in concentration camps by the regime in Beijing.

    It was also known that Mr Blair received £200,000 to give a speech in the Chinese industrial city of Dongguan in 2007 — more than his entire salary for a year as Prime Minister and a Member of Parliament.

    In an interview with POLITICO earlier this month, Mr Bair said that Western governments must come to grips with China’s new “dominant position” in the world, and that the West should abandon nationalist impulses.”

    “Fighting between forces loyal to rival governments over Libya’s capital intensified Saturday with heavy artillery shelling hitting the sole functioning airport in Tripoli, setting jet fuel tanks ablaze and damaging passenger planes, authorities in west Libya and the U.N. said.

    The Tripoli-based Transportation Ministry said one of the damaged aircraft had been scheduled to leave Tripoli to bring back Libyans stranded in Spain by the coronavirus lockdown. It blamed east-based forces fighting to take the capital for over a year for the attack.

    Libya has been in turmoil since 2011, when a civil war toppled long-time dictator Moammar Gadhafi, who was later killed. The country has since split between rival administrations in the east and the west, each backed by armed groups and foreign countries.

    Brega Petroleum Marketing Company said the shelling at Mitiga airport set its jet fuel tanks on fire. The company, which is part of Libya’s National Oil Corporation, shared footage of apparent damaged tanks while firefighters try to distinguish the fire.

    Authorities had halted civilian flights at Mitiga, which is part of a military base in the capital, in March even before announcing the suspension of air travel as part of its measures to fight the coronavirus pandemic…”

    Could this be because for the U.S. to announce a purchase it invites questions or doubts about its unaudited reserves, or if it sells it casts similar doubt?

  14. Open Borders: Supreme Court Says Criminal Can’t Be Deported to Country with Worse Healthcare than UK (breitbart, May 10, 2020)

    “Britain’s Supreme Court has thrown the country’s deportation policies into chaos by ruling that a foreign criminal cannot be deported to a country with poorer free healthcare than the United Kingdom.

    Justices including the top court’s infamous former president, Lady Hale, and two colleagues who also serve as ad hoc members of the European Court of Human Rights, agreed with a Zimbabwean migrant who should have been deported more than a decade ago that his removal would breach Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which states that “No-one shall be subjected to torture or inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment”.

    The migrant’s lawyers cleverly reinterpreted this European article, understood by most to be a prohibition against physical torture and holding people in unsanitary conditions, as a right for his client to remain in Britain so long as his home country could not provide him with the same expensive, taxpayer-funded HIV medication as the British National Health Service (NHS) free of charge — and the Supreme Court concurred.

    The court also “ordered that no one shall publish or reveal the name or address” of the Zimbabwean, restricting the freedom of the press to provide the public with the full facts of the case — although it did reveal that he was “convicted of battery” before the government ordered his deportation and further convicted of “offences including possession of a firearm and ammunition” after the order was given but not carried out.

    The government, already deporting ever-fewer migrants amid ever-rising levels of illegal migration, now fears the precedent set by the judgment will jeopardise many more deportations, including that of ISIS fighter-linked gang rapist Yaqub Ahmed — who was on the verge of finally being flown out of the country in October 2018 before a mutiny by passengers, who were seemingly never punished, allowed him to stay and lodge more appeals.

    The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, a creation of globalist former prime minister and Iraq War architect Tony Blair, has been a focus of allegations of so-called judicial activism for some years, with critics claiming it essentially creates new law on the hoof in order to suit its members’ political sensibilities — such as when it ruled that Boris Johnson’s decision to ask the Queen to prorogue (temporarily suspend) Parliament while Remain MPs were working to block Brexit was unlawful, despite not being able to point to any laws the prorogation had broken.

    This sense of a Supreme Court which makes up the rules as it goes was reinforced by the emergence of remarks by Lord Neuberger, a former president of the court who was still a member of its Supplementary Panel, that its judges “get around” the fact that they have no power to change laws “by being able to ‘interpret’ statues, and sometimes we interpret them quite, ah, imaginatively.”

    The Home Office, which is supposed to be responsible for border security and public safety, offered a characteristically uninformative official reaction to the Supreme Court judgement, saying that it is “considering the ruling carefully before taking the next steps”.

    The government has previously failed to deliver on pledges to stop illegal boat migrants, release a report on the ethnic background of grooming gang rapists, and to strip such rapists of British citizenship and deport them where they hold dual nationality, among a catalogue of other such failures — often facilitated by judges.”

  15. GREECE – Locals set fire to a hotel that was accommodating refugees

    Locals prevented buses carrying refugees being relocated from congested Aegean island camps to new accommodation in northern Greece, and set fire to a hotel where they were supposed to be housed, Greek authorities reported on Wednesday.

    According to reports, 150 protesters prevented buses carrying 57 refugees from reaching a rented hotel in Panagitsa, Pella, North Greece, by throwing stones and other objects at the vehicles. They then set fire to a room on the hotel’s ground floor.

    After Panagitsa, the refugees were transferred to a hotel to Arnissa where, according to police sources, approximately 250 individuals set fires on the road. Afterwards they attacked the hotel owners and threw stones and other objects at the hotel building.

    Police considered the condition dangerous for the refugees’ safety and led them to another hotel in Chalkidona, Thessaloniki.

    The mayor of Edessa (the capital of the Pella regional unit) Dimitris Giannou, condemned the incidents stating that they have nothing to do with the migration issue. Speaking to AMNA, he said that police reassured him that there were no migrants inside the hotel adding that “such actions do not express the majority of the people in the region.”

    Smaller protests also occurred at a hotel in the northern region of Kilkis, where 250 migrants from Lesvos were being taken to. Those protests were short-lived, however, and the migrants were housed in the facility which already accommodates asylum-seekers, authorities said.

    Meanwhile on Wednesday, Migration & Asylum Minister Notis Mitarakis stated that Greece respects the rights of asylum applicants, but is obliged to protect the borders and its own citizens.

    His comments were made during a speech at the parliamentary committee working on a bill to change migration legislation.

    “Our country respects International Law and the rights of those applying for asylum, which are absolutely respected,” Mitarakis said, “but I have not heard anything about the rights of the country and of Greek citizens. I have not heard anything about the obligation the Greek state has to protect its borders and its citizens.”

    The minister also noted that the outstanding asylum applications are no longer 125,000 in total but 105,000, and are being reduced gradually. He also said the Asylum Service has retained the same two top officials that the previous government of Syriza appointed.

    On the issue of returning migrants whose applications are rejected, Mitarakis said the extension of detention is only used when there is a lack of a better alternative.

    Responding to agencies about interpreters, he said the government is collaborating with Metadrasi organization and has signed an agreement for more interpreters. It is rarely that a language cannot be accommodated, he said.

    The organizations represented included the UN High Commission for Refugees, the National Commission for Human Rights, the Greek ombudsman, the National Confederation of People with Disabilities, the Athens Bar Association, the METAdrasi Citizens Society Organization, the Hellenic Red Cross, the Social Youth Support Organization ARSIS, Amnesty International, the International Migration Organization, the Greek Refugees Forum, the Médecins du Monde and the head of the Unified Independent Authority of Public Contracts.

    • Greece: Right-wing hold protest against resettlement of migrants from island camps

      Activists of a right-wing group Ieros Lohos staged a rally in the northern city of Thessaloniki on Sunday to protest against the relocation of refugees from the Aegean islands to the mainland Greece.

      At least 1,500 people marched through the city centre under the slogan ‘for Homeland, Nation, Orthodoxy’ chanting and waving Greek flags.

      “We are demonstrating against the racism from the government to the Greek people. With the excuse of coronavirus, the churches were closed but the mosques are widely open,” said Georgios, the vice president of the Ieros Lohos movement.

      “We were forced to stay home and thousands of employees were fired. At the same time, the Greek Government moved thousands of illegal immigrants from the islands to the mainland. We are losing our country,” he added.

      A counter-protest was held simultaneously by Antifa and anarchist movements activists. A 22-year-old right-wing protester was attacked allegedly by a group of six anarchists. Paramedics deployed in the protest area transported the injured to a local hospital.

      The Greek government announced it would move thousands of the most vulnerable migrants out of overcrowded island camps in April after hundreds tested positive for coronavirus, sparking fear of an uncontrolled spread of COVID-19 among the refugees.

      Greece has been praised for its response to the pandemic, implementing an early national lockdown and a ban on religious and other gatherings. As of Sunday the country has reported 2,716 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 151 deaths.

  16. AFGHANISTAN – Six killed in clashes at Afghanistan food aid event

    Interior Ministry spokesman Tareq Arian said the protesters had gathered outside the governor’s office in Feroz Koh, the capital of the western Ghor province.

    KABUL: Two policemen and four other people were killed in Afghanistan on Saturday after a deadly clash at a public food donation in central Ghor province, officials said.

    Hundreds of people had gathered outside the governor’s office in the provincial capital Firozkoh, where a Qatari group was distributing aid.

    It was not immediately clear why the gathering turned violent, but officials blamed armed men in the crowd.

    “The protesters opened fire on the police,” the provincial governor’s spokesman Aref Haber said.

    “Four civilians, including an employee of a local radio and two policemen were killed,” he said, adding that 19 people were also wounded.

    He said the protesters also beat security personnel and an investigation into the incident was underway.

    The interior ministry confirmed the death toll in a statement, saying “some illegal armed men in the mob attacked the government building”, which prompted police to fire into the air to disperse the crowd.

    Abdul Rahman Akshan, the deputy head of Ghor’s provincial council, also confirmed the incident and the death toll.

    Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh said the attack was “shocking” and announced that the “government was seriously investigating the incident” in a Facebook post.

    The aid group was distributing food to about 1,000 local families. Food drives are a common practice in the country during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

    Afghanistan is battling a growing coronavirus outbreak that has exacerbated problems with food access in the impoverished country.

    The Tony Blair Institue said that it has “teams” advising world governments “to keep their people safe during this pandemic — not just in respect of Covid-19 itself but also the political and economic collateral damage.”

    The think tank has advised governments to adopt “dramatically increased technological surveillance”, arguing that it is “a price worth paying”.

    “In normal times the degree of monitoring and state intervention we are talking about here would be out of the question in liberal democracies. But these are not normal times, and the alternatives are even more unpalatable. This is quite different from the traditional debate about whether confronting security threats to our way of life merits sacrificing the values of freedom and privacy that define us,” said Chris Yiu, the institute’s executive director of technology and public policy.

    Similar big government policies, such as compulsory ID cards for all citizens — ultimately defeated — were a key feature of Blair’s years in power.

    The former premier has also argued that the UN’s World Health Organization (WHO) should be given “much greater heft and weight” and claimed that without more funding and support it would be “unfair to criticise them” — despite the fact that the WHO promoted Chinese communist propaganda from the outset of the coronavirus outbreak.

    The after-office activities of Mr Blair, particularly in the Middle East and China, have drawn widespread criticism. Following reports linking the now-defunct Tony Blair Associates firm with the Saudi oil company PetroSaudi and the Abu Dhabi financial management firm Mubadala, the Iraq War architect resigned from his already controversial post as Middle East peace envoy at the United Nations.

    Questions about Mr Blair’s close business ties with the Chinese regime and people connected the Chinese Communist Party have also been raised.

    In 2015, an investigation by The Telegraph found that after leaving office Mr Blair served as a liaison between Abu Dhabi and the “highest levels of the Communist Party and state-run corporations” in bringing investment to the Xinjiang province of the country, where it is alleged that millions of Uyghurs are being interned in concentration camps by the regime in Beijing.

    It is also known that Mr Blair received £200,000 to give a speech in the Chinese industrial city of Dongguan in 2007 — more than his combined salary for a year as Prime Minister and a Member of Parliament.

    In an interview with POLITICO earlier this month, Mr Bair said that Western governments must come to terms with China’s new “dominant position” in the world, and that the West should abandon nationalist impulses.

    This brief video clip (three minutes long) is worth making a feature of, partly because the sheriff so accurately expresses what millions of Americans in locations with average population and inherently sufficient social-distancing are thinking. In the entire United States, there’s only one New York City, with a population bigger than those of 38 states, crammed into a land area the size of Augusta, Georgia.     The group goes on to state that “on the basis of official data on the incidence of the epidemic as related to the number of deaths”, there are “powers interested” in “creating panic” among the world’s population – with the “sole aim of permanently imposing unacceptable forms of restriction on freedoms, controlling people and tracking their movements”.

    “The imposition of these illiberal measures is a disturbing prelude to the realization of a world government beyond all control…The criminalization of personal and social relationships must likewise be judged as an unacceptable part of the plan of those who advocate isolating individuals in order to better manipulate and control them. We ask the scientific community to be vigilant, so cures for Covid-19 are offered in honesty for the common good. Every effort must be made to ensure shady business interests do not influence the choices made by government leaders and international bodies,” the letter continues.

    The pastors further demand government leaders “ensure forms of control over people, whether through tracking systems or any other form of location-finding, are rigorously avoided”, and the fight against Covid-19 “not be the pretext for supporting hidden intentions of supranational bodies”, with citizens given the opportunity “to refuse restrictions on personal freedom, without any penalty whatsoever being imposed on those who do not wish to use vaccines, contact tracking or any other similar tool”. Likewise, the media is “strongly” urged to provide accurate information and not “penalize dissent by resorting to forms of censorship, as is happening widely on social media, in the press and on television”.

    “Providing accurate information requires that room be given to voices that are not aligned with a single way of thinking. This allows citizens to consciously assess the facts, without being heavily influenced by partisan interventions. A democratic and honest debate is the best antidote to the risk of imposing subtle forms of dictatorship, presumably worse than those our society has seen rise and fall in the recent past,” it concludes.
    However, Bishop George Batzing, who heads the influential German Bishops’ Conference, has issued a statement on behalf of the organisation claiming the body’s view of the coronavirus crisis is “fundamentally different” to that implied by the pastors’ letter. He added lockdown restrictions in Germany, which led to the temporary cancellation of church services among other things, were “sensible and responsible”, while welcoming a “responsible and proportionate” relaxation of the measures when appropriate.

    Other German Catholic clergy were even harsher in their condemnation, with vicar general of the city of Essen, Klaus Pfeffer, stating on Facebook he was “simply speechless” at what had been published “in the name of the Church and Christianity” – “crude conspiracy theories without facts or evidence, combined with aggressive right-wing populist rhetoric that sounds alarming”.”

    Al Arabiya reported earlier this week that the LNA had conducted a series of airstrikes on arms depots and positions of forces loyal to Turkey in the north-western city of Misrata.

    • Was this when the virus escaped from the lab?

      This is the first evidence I have seen that the escape/release occurred in November, there were other reports but no evidence.

      • I read a report on November 6th about two people in Wuhan, China being moved to a contained area —they showed symptoms of pneumatic plague. In the following weeks many people were getting sick and they said it was spreading from person to person.

        I was going to Florida for five months, left mid November and only stayed with my grandchildren until after Christmas and returned to Northern Ontario. How the hell did I know about this? Please I am fed up with so much crap. People I know said it was just a typical flu when I spoke of it.

    Saturday, April 18, 11 pm. Villeneuve-la-Garenne, a small town in the northern suburbs of Paris. A young man rides a motorcycle at high speed and hits the door of a police car. He breaks his leg. He is sent to the hospital. He does not have a driver’s license but does have a long criminal history. He was sentenced several times by the courts for drug trafficking, robbery with violence and sexual assault.

    As soon as news of the accident is released, hostile messages about the police circulate on social media; and in a dozen cities in France, riots break out. The riots are continue for five days in a row. A police station in Strasbourg is attacked and set on fire. A school is nearly destroyed a few miles from Villeneuve-la-Garenne.

    Rather than responding with firm language, the French government is saying that an investigation into the behavior of the police has been opened and that the officers will most likely be punished.

    The coronavirus pandemic, which struck France hard, has been aggravating the serious problems already plaguing the country.

    “The detained suspect claimed he had weapons and explosives stashed in his house and garage. Nearby buildings were evacuated out of an abundance of precaution.

    An unnamed 25-year-old male German citizen of Turkish descent was arrested in Bavaria under suspicion of involvement in a series of attacks on Turkish establishments in the town of Waldkraiburg between 16 April and 6 May. The police report said that the arrested citizen was motivated by his “hate” toward Turkish comrades as a supporter of the Daesh* terrorist group.

    The 25-year-old threw rocks at a barbershop, a pizzeria, and a kebab house, but his most serious attack was the arson of a grocery shop on 27 April that left several people injured and resulted in major damage to the building.

    The suspect was arrested at a railway station for fare dodging, but police officers chose to inspect his backpack and found several makeshift bombs, forcing authorities to evacuate the station. His house and buildings were also evacuated due as the man had claimed that he had more explosives as well as weapons hidden in that location.

    A few days after China had announced it was sending medical supplies to Italy, Chinese state media aired pictures of Italians on balconies and streets applauding the Chinese national anthem. “In Rome, with the Chinese anthem playing, some Italians chanted ‘Grazie, Cina!’ on their balconies, & their neighbors applauded along”, wrote Zhao Lijian, the spokesman for China’s foreign ministry who shamefully and wrongly suggested that the U.S. military had brought the Covid-19 to Wuhan.

    China presented itself in the role of the savior, willing to rush to the bedside of the sick patient Italy.

    Now a Financial Times investigation reveals that those videos were manipulated as part of Beijing’s coronavirus propaganda. Hashtags #ThanksChina and #GoChina&Italy were further generated by bots. A report by the Carnegie Endowment called Italy “a target destination for China’s propaganda”.

    An article called, “Why the Covid-19 epidemic is so politicized” and posted on the Chinese embassy website in Paris, said, “Some Westerners are beginning to lose confidence in liberal democracy” and “some [Western countries] have become psychologically weak”.
