TORONTO — The Emergency Department is usually one of the busiest areas of any hospital, but now many ERs are full of empty beds, as patients with ailments and injuries unrelated to coronavirus are avoiding hospitals due to pandemic fears.
“It’s so strange to walk through an emergency room with so many empty beds,” Dr. Gaurav Puri of Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket told CTV News.
“Here there are no wheelchairs and all of our rooms are empty.”
There has been a 30- to 40-per-cent drop in patients in many ERs in Canada.
“Patients who may need to be coming in to get care … are choosing not (to) because of their fear of getting COVID in hospital,” Puri said.
The lights have literally been turned off in some hospital corridors that used to be bustling with activity.
(This is entirely the fault of government policies which mandate labeling deaths as Covid when they may not be, and the failure to change policies when real data replaced bad predictions by organizations which are notoriously communist in nature. And also media that literally lied to our faces showing clips of who-knows where, maybe a daytime soap opera for all we know, claiming it was New York hospitals and that they are a “war zone”.
A reckoning must happen with these news agencies.Now they are begging people to go to the hospital. Well its your fault people don’t. I hope they sue.)
2. United Front groups in Canada helped Beijing stockpile coronavirus safety supplies
In mid-January, Chinese consulates in Canada and worldwide issued an urgent call. China was concerned that the new coronavirus raging in Wuhan was so deadly and infectious that its nurses and doctors would run out of safety supplies.
It needed personal protective equipment (PPE).
In just six weeks, China imported 2.5 billion pieces of epidemic safety equipment, including over two billion safety masks, Chinese government data shows.
And this raises big concerns on a number of fronts, say critics, including Conservative MP Erin O’Toole.
China was evidently hiding the extent of a pandemic that endangered the world while covertly securing PPE at low prices. This “surreptitious” operation left “the world naked with no supply of PPE,” Jorge Guajardo, Mexico’s former ambassador to Beijing, told Global News.

Nine-year-old Swiss coronavirus victim turns out to be 109 due to filing error
Switzerland’s outdated medical reporting system still relies on fax and manual data entry, which has led to a number of confusing mistakes.
On Saturday, it appeared Switzerland had recorded its first child victim of the coronavirus, until the victim was found to be 109 rather than 9.
The reason? The country’s outdated medical record-keeping system, which relies primarily on fax rather than electronic record-keeping, had recorded that the victim was born in 1911 rather than 2011.
Over the same week, a similar error saw one 87-year-old victim recorded as being 27 years of age – due to a similar failing.
Children and young people have been largely unaffected by the virus in Switzerland and elsewhere – meaning that the reports represented a significant departure from the existing data in Switzerland. As at April 29th, there have been just under 1,700 deaths in Switzerland due to the virus – however nobody under the age of 30 has died in Switzerland and only six people between the ages of 30 and 50 have passed away due to Covid-19.
