Venezuelan migrants leave Ecuador as coronavirus hits economyGUAYAQUIL, Ecuador (Reuters) – Venezuelan migrants in Ecuador are setting out on perilous journeys to return to their crisis-stricken homeland or to join family in other Latin American countries as a lockdown meant to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus has left them without work.
Ecuador, with a population of 17.4 million, has over 10,000 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus and more than 500 deaths.
The outbreak has ravaged the economy of the oil-producing country and overwhelmed sanitary authorities in the largest city of Guayaquil, where corpses remained in homes or for hours on the streets.
Venezuelan migrants, millions of whom fled economic crisis in their homeland, often work informal jobs or beg on the streets. Shutdowns of businesses across the region have cut many off from their meager income sources.
“We were in Guayaquil, we’ve worked and now we’re returning to Peru to see if it will go better for us there,” said 19-year-old migrant Jose Roman, as he and his cousin thumbed for rides along a highway outside of the coastal city.
“Here, we can’t work and we don’t have anywhere to live,” said Roman, who used to work at a car wash. His construction-worker cousin Jeison Rodriguez, 20, said their aim was to join other family members in Peru.

“Areas in at least 25 cities and departments in France erupted into rioting on Monday night, including attacks on police and attempts to burn down a police station in Strasbourg.
Some of the incidents are believed to have been sparked by a Saturday night motorcycle accident in the Paris suburb of Villeneuve-la-Garenne which also involved the local police.
The 30-year-old motorcycle rider was seriously injured after an unmarked police vehicle opened its door at a red light, which the motorcyclist struck and then ended up hitting a nearby pole. He was taken to hospital with a fractured leg and a fractured femur.
Rioting began in Villeneuve-la-Garenne on Sunday night, according to broadcaster France Bleu, and continued on Monday night with fireworks launched at police.
Several other Paris suburbs also saw violence and rioting including the notorious no-go area of Seine-Saint-Denis which saw garbage cans lit on fire in both Aulnay-sous-Bois and Saint-Denis.
Several areas also reported attacks on police directly in Asnières, Nanterre, Meudon, Clamart, and Gennevilliers.
The department of Yvelines, which has seen nearly daily attacks on the police for the past two weeks, reported officers attacked in the city of Noé by a group of around 20 individuals who launched projectiles and fireworks at them.
Less than an hour later in the commune of La Verrière, another police patrol was attacked by a group of around five people. Rocks were then thrown at officers in Mantes-la-Jolie and a bus was attacked with fireworks in Sartrouville a short time later.
The final incident of the evening in Yvelines took place around 2:50 am in Les Mureaux where officers were violently attacked by around a dozen people.
In Strasbourg, a gang of locals attempted to burn down the building housing a local police station in the district of Meinau by throwing Molotov cocktails at the structure. Police later confirmed that there had been no serious damage to the police station.
Julien Le Cam of the Alliance police union commented on the night of violence, saying: “The night was really difficult for our colleagues. More difficult than in recent weeks. There is a rise in attacks and this is causing a lot of concern on the ground.”
Le Cam went on the state that a number of factors have led to the tensions in certain no-go areas including the impact the strict national lockdown has had on the illegal drug trafficking trade, a concern previously voiced by other law enforcement officials.
“Schools are closed. The good weather returns, and we know very well that it coincides with the resumption of motorcycle racing. In addition, many people who were in prison have been released in recent days. All this leads to an explosive cocktail reinforced by certain daily idleness,” he said.”

“This virus is the kind of things where the actions of one have consequences on the actions and life of many,” Lightfoot said. “We have to be all in on this together.”
Lightfoot then criticized the lack of consistency around the country, as the response to COVID-19 has been a “patchwork” of policies due to lack of a clear federal strategy.

Over the last week, thousands of frustrated Americans gathered at state capitols in Michigan, Ohio, California, Minnesota, and other states to protest stay-at-home orders from totalitarian progressive leaders such as Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, who argue that the lockdowns are crucial to containing the coronavirus. But with literally tens of millions of Americans losing their jobs and their businesses, and the economy collapsing with the worst possibly to come, Americans are legitimately complaining that the draconian cure is shaping up to be worse than the disease.
Speaker of the House and nepotism-enthusiast Nancy Pelosi decried the protesters, of course: “What they’re doing is really unfortunate,” she condescended. “What we have to do is, is, is shelter in place.” That’s easy for her to say. While Pelosi (who as of last year has a net worth of over $120 million) “shelters in place” in her San Francisco mansion that features a $24,000 refrigerator stocked with gourmet ice cream, her constituents are losing their livelihoods and life savings. Her nephew-by-marriage Gov. Gavin Newsom, California’s answer to Justin Trudeau, said he will not be swayed by public protests in deciding when he will reopen the state: “We are going to do the right thing: not judge by politics, not judge by protests, but by science.” Of course, what the left means by “science” is “science that conforms to our political agenda,” because progressives reject any scientific conclusions that present them with inconvenient truths.

This is a breaking news story and of course a difficult one, given the exceptional dearth of reliable information from North Korea. Multiple news sites in Washington confirm they are receiving reports on it from U.S. officials, however. There appears to be something to it; the question is exactly what.
CNN reported a short time ago that Kim Jong Un was said by an unnamed U.S. official to be “in grave danger after surgery.” The CNN report indicated that this came from U.S. intelligence.
CNN says another U.S. official tells them “the concerns about Kim’s health are credible but the severity is hard to assess.”
Kim Jong-Un reportedly had heart surgery on 12 April and has been in recovery in the 8 days since. He missed appearing at the official commemoration of his grandfathers’s (Kim Il-Sung) birthday on 15 April.

I strongly suggest you all check it out on your Google privacy account setting.
Yesterday, I did a web search to find out who had access to my private information on my Google account that I always set as PRIVATE whenever I transfer data from one computer to another.
Some time ago, I received a Twitter alert that my account had been breached. At the time, I was busy and didn’t know how to check it out. It bothered me for some time and yesterday, I checked it out.
SURPRISE !!
My account is still set to private BUT on October 17, 2019 (last year), suddenly CBC obtained access to all my private info on my Google account and access was still active. I don’t understand this.
I can only relate it to Twitter’s breach alert and my anti-virus scan intruder alert also, both occurring some months ago.
I was shocked and angry. How, in the hell, did CBC get access to my private Google information without my permission? And it was done through Twitter.
Can anyone explain this?

Un documentaire mis en ligne par Epoch Times alimente plusieurs théories non vérifiées.
L’équipe des Décrypteurs a reçu de nombreux courriels au cours des deux dernières semaines à propos du documentaire Tracking down the origin of the Wuhan coronavirus, mis en ligne le 7 avril sur deux chaînes YouTube associées au quotidien Epoch Times.
Quelle crédibilité doit-on accorder à ce brûlot visionné à des millions de reprises et qui cumule une quantité déconcertante d’affirmations fracassantes sur l’origine du virus responsable de la COVID-19?
Dans un premier temps, il est essentiel de souligner qu’il reste encore beaucoup à apprendre sur le nouveau coronavirus, ses origines et son fonctionnement. Une grande partie de la communauté scientifique cherche encore à se familiariser avec ce virus qui a fauché plus de 170 000 vies à travers le monde.
Pour les Décrypteurs, l’approche la plus responsable est donc de s’en remettre aux recherches scientifiques révisées par des pairs et publiées dans des revues spécialisées.
Voici maintenant, en rafale, quelques-unes des principales thèses véhiculées par ce documentaire :

Sur le premier point, l’origine animale du nouveau coronavirus demeure l’hypothèse la plus probable, comme nous l’avons évoqué dans un article récent. Ce consensus scientifique est entre autres issu du séquençage complet du génome du virus. Réalisé dès la mi-janvier, ce séquençage a été scruté à la loupe dans des laboratoires aux quatre coins du monde. Un mois plus tard, la revue Nature publiait un article? abondamment cité qui démontre la forte probabilité d’une origine animale. Dès lors, ce qui reste à déterminer, ce sont les paramètres du passage de ce virus à l’être humain.
La vérité est que l’être humain est de plus en plus à proximité de différentes espèces animales. On attrape leurs virus et ils attrapent les nôtres.

Un virus échappé d’un laboratoire : que des spéculations
Si l’origine animale du virus fait pour l’instant consensus, est-ce qu’on peut affirmer qu’il est impossible que le SRAS-CoV-2 se soit trouvé en laboratoire pour ensuite en sortir et semer la mort sur son passage?
C’est ce qu’avance le documentaire narré et réalisé par le journaliste d’enquête américain Joshua Philipp.
Selon ses recherches, le SRAS-CoV-2 est sorti des installations hautement sécurisées du laboratoire de virologie de Wuhan. Par accident ou de façon délibérée, des scientifiques chinois auraient ainsi laissé s’échapper le virus.
Un tel scénario n’est pas à exclure totalement, de l’aveu même ? du virologue Robert Garry, co-auteur de l’étude citée plus haut qui établissait l’origine animale du virus : prouver qu’un virus ne s’est pas échappé d’un laboratoire n’est pas facile, a-t-il affirmé.
De plus, le Washington Post révélait la semaine dernière?? que des diplomates américains basés en Chine auraient alerté Washington en 2018 au sujet de mesures de sécurité jugées insuffisantes dans le laboratoire de Wuhan, qui menait à l’époque des recherches sur un autre pathogène potentiellement dangereux.
Cela dit, aucune preuve tangible et vérifiée n’indique qu’une brèche de sécurité de cette ampleur a été détectée dans la foulée de l’apparition des premiers cas de COVID-19 dans la province chinoise du Hubei.
Le laboratoire en question, qui relève de l’Académie chinoise des sciences, est doté du plus haut niveau de biosécurité (P4) fixé en fonction des normes internationales.
Le marché de Wuhan : une origine à écarter?
Depuis l’apparition des foyers d’éclosion de la COVID-19 en Chine, le marché de Wuhan est vu comme le point d’origine des premiers cas. Le documentaire Tracking down the origin of the Wuhan coronavirus s’emploie à tenter de prouver le contraire.
Il est vrai que l’analyse des premiers cas de contamination au SRAS-CoV-2, dont les conclusions ??ont été publiées par The Lancet, démontrent que le tiers des patients n’avait pas de liens épidémiologiques avec le marché de Wuhan.

Aux yeux de certains, comme le controversé chercheur nobélisé Dr Luc Montagnier, cette ressemblance constituerait une preuve de manipulation humaine.
Or, comme l’a précisé cette semaine l’équipe des Décrypteurs dans un article signé Bouchra Ouatik, cette similitude n’a rien d’inusité, puisque les mêmes séquences se retrouvent dans plus d’une centaine de virus de toutes sortes.
D’autres médias tels que Le Monde? ?, la RTBF? ? et la BBC? en arrivent aux mêmes conclusions après avoir également sondé l’avis d’experts en virologie.
Epoch Times : un journal sous la loupe
Dans une vidéo promotionnelle? ? mise en ligne en septembre dernier, le quotidien Epoch Times se décrit comme le journal qui connaît la plus forte croissance dans le monde. Mais au-delà de cet exploit autoproclamé, le cas de cette publication multilingue distribuée dans une trentaine de pays intrigue.
Fondé en 2000 par des Américains d’origine chinoise, ce quotidien est depuis ses débuts associé au mouvement Falun Gong, un courant spirituel souvent qualifié de secte par ses détracteurs.
D’inspiration bouddhiste et proche de la pratique du Qi Gong, le Falun Gong est déclaré hors-la-loi par Pékin en 1999. Persécutés en Chine, les pratiquants du Falun Gong puisent désormais l’essentiel de leurs appuis au sein de la vaste diaspora chinoise disséminée à travers le monde.
Le journal Epoch Times ainsi que la chaîne New Tang Dynasty Television? ? sont les bras médiatiques du mouvement. Leur mission fondamentale : pourfendre la bête noire des adeptes du Falun Gong, le Parti communiste chinois.
Une enquête approfondie? ? du réseau américain NBC News dévoilait l’été dernier les dessous du virage pro-Trump de ce quotidien qui, jusqu’à 2016, se tenait plutôt loin de la politique intérieure américaine.
Selon cette enquête, durant les six premiers mois de 2019, Epoch Times aurait déboursé 1,5 million de dollars américains pour la publication sur Facebook de quelque 11 000 publicités en faveur de l’actuel président américain. Cette somme excède ce qu’a dépensé la campagne pour la réélection de Donald Trump sur Facebook au cours de la même période de temps.
Facebook a par la suite banni de sa plateforme? ? les publicités financées par Epoch Times parce qu’elles ne respectaient par les normes de transparence du réseau social et aussi parce que le quotidien faisait la promotion de théories conspirationnistes.
Selon NBC News, les théories non fondées alimentées par les écrits d’Epoch Times sont souvent apparentées au mouvement conspirationniste pro-Trump QAnon, dont certaines des thèses farfelues ont récemment été analysées par les Décrypteurs.
L’équipe éditoriale d’Epoch Times n’a pas tardé à réfuter les faits présentés par l’enquête de NBC News. Coup monté, fausses allégations , est-il écrit dans cette réplique cinglante?? du quotidien qui s’accompagne de la promesse de maintenir son engagement envers la vérité.
Mais il demeure que le documentaire d’Epoch Times sur l’origine du SRAS-CoV-2 prouve que ladite vérité peut parfois être édulcorée.

A coronavirus strain isolated in India carried a mutation that could render current international vaccine efforts useless, researchers in Australia and Taiwan warned.
Scientists have been targeting the same process that allowed the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) to infect people but the mutation found throws them off course.
The scientists claim that the change had occurred in part of the spike protein that allows the novel coronavirus to bind with certain human cells. The structure targets cells containing ACE2, an enzyme found in the outer surface cells in the lungs, which allowed the SARS virus to infect people, the South China Morning Post first reported.

“The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy Commander, Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, slammed on Monday the presence of US aircraft carriers and military ships in the Arabian Gulf, saying that his forces now possess surface-to-surface and subsurface anti-warship missiles with a range as high as 700 kilometers.
“Now we have a variety of surface and sub-surface missiles with a range of 700 kilometers which have been produced by domestic military experts,” the semi-official Tasnim news agency quoted the Iranian commander as saying.
Tangsiri’s statement came following the recent confrontation between IRGC and US forces in the Persian Gulf.
The US military said on Wednesday that 11 vessels from the IRGC navy had come dangerously close to US Navy and Coast Guard ships in the Gulf, calling the moves “dangerous and provocative.”
The IRGC Navy issued a statement on Sunday calling the US claims “fake” and likening them to some “Hollywood” scenarios.
“US forces violated international regulations and blocked the way of Iranian vessels but they were faced with our harsh response,” Tangsiri said, adding that no foreign vessel can trespass regional waters unless it is identified by the Iranian Army and IRGC forces.
“Our pride is that all of our military equipment is produced domestically, and we are not dependent on any other country,” he said.
The Commander said wherever the “Americans have been, there has been insecurity. We do not know of a place where American presence has brought security.”
Tangsiri warned that if anything is to happen to the nuclear warships in the Arabian Gulf, there will not be any living things or clean water in the region for at least 10 to 12 years.
Also on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said that foreign forces’ presence in the region is the source of insecurity, instability, and tension.
“We consider the presence of the foreign forces, especially forces of the United States, in the region a source of tension, instability, and insecurity. Their presence is illegal and illegitimate. This is our region and our armed forces must be able to patrol without hurdle,” Mousavi said in a press conference held through video conference.”

He had “family ties to terrorists belonging to ISIS who died in battle against the coalition forces in Syria and Iraq”, the statement added.
The man had apparently been in frequent touch via the internet with ISIS and other individuals linked to the group in EU member countries while he was staying in Poland.
The individual, who is now in a detention center for foreigners in eastern Poland, is also alleged to have provided financial support to ISIS members in Syria.

“Algerian authorities have launched a campaign against what they described as “fake news promoters” on social media, which increased since the outbreak of the coronavirus in the country.
On 15 April, the Ministry of the Interior announced in a statement that it had arrested someone for forging the constitution, which is under review, and circulating it on social media.
The statement indicated that the arrest took place in Chlef governorate, west of the capital, and the person concerned will be brought before the public prosecutor.

“Saudi Arabia executed a record number of 184 people last year, Amnesty International reported on Tuesday, a rise from 149 people in 2018.
Earlier this month, Saudi Arabia carried out its 800th execution under King Salman bin Abdulaziz, nearly double the number of executions that took place in the five years prior to the monarch’s ascension to the throne in 2015.
In April 2019, Saudi Arabia announced the mass execution of 37 citizens who had been convicted of “terrorism”, with one of the bodies of the condemned crucified after death.
Reprieve, a UK organisation against capital punishment and the Berlin-based European-Saudi Organisation for Human Rights (ESOHR) said six of the 37 men killed were children at the time of their alleged offences.

Iran, Saudi Arabia and Iraq accounted for 92 percent of the total number of recorded executions in the region.
Executions in Iran diminished slightly from at least 253 in 2018 to at least 251 in 2019, while executions in Iraq almost doubled from at least 53 in 2018 to at least 100 in 2019.
Amnesty found Egypt imposed the most confirmed death sentences in the region last year with at least 435 cases, though the number fell from 2018, which saw at least 717 people sentenced to death.
After a hiatus in 2018, Bahrain resumed executions last year, Amnesty said.”

“Forces loyal to Libya’s renegade commander Khalifa Haftar said over the weekend that Turkey is planning an ‘attack’ in Libya, and shortly after struck a hospital injuring at least five medics.
Haftar’s self-proclaimed Libyan National Army (LNA) spokesperson Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari said Turkey was sending military personnel and equipment to Libya, according to a Monday report.
The LNA claimed it has information on Turkey’s plan to carry out a massive ‘attack’ on Libya’s Tarhuna city – just 65km from the capital.
Mismari said the Haftar forces would retaliate in Libya, triggering concerns for more bloodshed in the war-torn country.
“We [will] fight the Turkish Army on land, sea and air,” he warned.
Haftar – who has been recruiting thousands of African mercenaries, mainly from Chad and Sudan, to fight in his ranks – also accused Turkey of “exploiting” the coronavirus pandemic to mobilise against LNA’s rival, the UN-recognised Government of National Accord (GNA) in Tripoli.
Since Hafter’s forces launched their offensive on the Libyan capital in April, both the LNA and the GNA have reiterated accusations that the other was deploying foreign forces in the ongoing civil war.
Following the weekend LNA press conference, the GNA-led Burkan Al-Ghadab (Volcano of Rage) recorded new advancements by Haftar’s militia on Monday.
The Libyan group said Haftar’s forces targetted two field hospitals in their shelling of Tripoli’s Wadi al Rabie, injuring at least five health workers.
Haftar has repeatedly violated international humanitarian laws, targetting medical workers and hospitals.
Earlier in the month, the UN released a statement condemning the targeting of a coronavirus-designated hospital in Tripoli, but did not name the group responsible.
The attack – which Libyan rights groups and activists said was carried out by the LNA – targeted the Al-Khadra General Hospital, which houses 400 beds and was designated as a potential coronavirus treatment centre.

BOSNIA – Migrants relocated from Bihac streets to Lipa migrant centre amid coronavirus fears
Authorities relocated a group of 120 migrants from Bihac to a temporary migrant centre in Lipa on Tuesday.
The migrants had been inhabiting abandoned buildings and living on the streets of Bihac due to overflown migrant centres, with the authorities moving them over fears of the coronavirus spread.
A total of 1000 people are expected to be relocated to Lipa.
“People did not come here to stay, but to pass through the centre on their way to Europe. Today, 120 migrants were taken from the city centre. We will continue to relocate migrants in the coming days,” explained Prime Minister of Una-Sana Canton, Mustafa Ruznic.
“This (migration) must slowly end. It cannot go on like this. If it continues as it has been, even ten camps like Lipa will not be enough,” said Bihac Mayor, Suhret Fazlic adding that state borders should also be closed.
According to Johns Hopkins University, Bosnia and Herzegovina has registered 1,342 coronavirus cases with more than 50 deaths, as of Wednesday morning.
